Okay, technically it was just Daniel switching teams, but, it didn't feel that way.

(They check with George who says he’s over Alex’s and forgot to ask meanwhile they check with Alex who is very confused by all of this)

And so they start following George whenever he goes out and figure out that he’s been sneaking off with Max and Lewis is fully just overprotective dad mode.

Nico on the other hand doesn’t give a shit. George told him about he and Max dating before Lewis came to his place he’s fine with it. He’s met Max and think he’s a perfectly fine young man who makes George do he doesn’t care. He also think Lewis is completely overreacting. And he says absolutely no of this because this is the most he and Lewis have interacted in so long

Like they went from barely speaking and any time they were speaking it was to argue to suddenly together constant, talking 24/7, anytime Max comes to the house Lewis is immediately calling Nico up to come over and he is not letting no this slips away. So he happily goes along with Lewi’s stalking and only lightly point out how insane he’s being.

Bonus: They are shit at stalking and Max totally catches them.

So tired of everyone saying Max was a bad loser for wanting fastest lap to maintain his championship lead. Did everyone forget that during his first title fight every single point was important. Max knows not every season can be like 2022 and he saw the downfall of brocedes first hand. Every point counts and the reliability issue cost him 7 points, he damn well wasn’t going to make it 8. He was driver of the day for a reason. He gained 13 positions and he was only 5s behind Checo. Max needing to get through traffic was the ONLY reason why there was a pace difference during the first stint. The team didn’t want to risk a DNF, that’s the only reason Max didn’t try to gain on him. Max was faster than Checo until he was given a target lap time, while struggling with issues. 18 points is better than none. This is the fourth race Checo has won due to Max having issues beyond his control. Baku: an inherited win from Max’s tyre and Lewis’ magic button. Monaco: Max was in the middle of a lap that could’ve put him on pole, and Checo crashed, whether intentionally or not. He screwed his teammate. Singapore: whatever the shitshow of a qualify session. And now a reliability issue in qualifying for Max. Checo has not won a Grand Prix with Red Bull (his performance in Sakhir in 2020 was brilliant, but Mercedes fucked George over, he was leading up until that point and could’ve taken the win) that wasn’t on pure pace over Max. Yes absolutely formula 1 is also about capitalizing on others misfortunes, but don’t let that distract you that Checo has not outperformed Max during a race since he joined Red Bull.

Checo deleting his original tweet that included “I want to be champion” is everything you need to know where Red Bull’s priorities lie. Do you really think they’ll upset their driver that they’ve signed till ‘28? The longest contract in formula 1? Over someone that’s gotten one year and two year contracts. That won’t happen. Saudi was about minimizing damage from qualifying and getting Max to cross the finish line.

I also believe that the “team orders” for maintaining a lap time was to soothe Perez that the playing field is after Brazil and that Max is willing to follow team orders. Buying some good will. They don’t trust each other. Max asked if Perez is also hitting the target lap time in Bahrain for a reason. He returned the favour in Saudi. If Perez doesn’t follow team orders next time out Red Bull has every opportunity to call him out on it and reprimand him. Ricciardo might not be looming over his head but Lawson might be. Marko was prepared to have him replace Max if the needed. That’s a huge amount of trust in a rookie, they’ve kept him around for a reason.

Let’s be honest as well Max had every right to be pissed on Sunday. He was dominating all weekend and through no fault of his own he started p15 when he should have been on pole and would have won that race I don’t blame him for being pissed. He said it himself he is there to win and when he gets fucked over by reliably he has every right to be pissed.

Checo has only ever won when something happened to Max it’s literally so simple to say that. Since Brazil Checo has been playing up to the “Checo is the victim” narrative and it’s so fucking embarrassing. Since he has gotten to Red Bull Max has always smashed him, Max was a half a second quicker all weekend. Are we also forgetting that Checo fucked his start and also locked up under pressure like twice? We saw that last season after Monaco he crashed in quali in Canada and fucked up multiple times last season.

I think it’s also funny that Checo was so suspicious of his team…he didn’t believe them when they talked about the fastest lap, he called out his own team like I’m sorry but that’s so fucking embarrassing. Checo was told to push and Max decided to charge his battery to push on the final lap WHICH Christian said Checo fucked up. I think it’s pretty embarrassing from Checo that his teammate finished 5 seconds behind him after starting p15 and with another driveshaft issue.

(tennis players often come from wealth, much like f1 drivers — they can also be sponsored, sometimes by their country, but usually only if & while they're successful!!)

if you do well, you start to win, maybe you make money, more likely you're breaking even for a while (or even still losing). if you do REALLY well, then you're looking at more prize money and maybe sponsors, so then you can start making some real money out of this. but yeah it's CRAaaaaaazy how much money tennis players pay to play tennis lol!! it is 10000% a problem for getting underprivileged kids into tennis, there's a reason tennis is so white!

Hi anon!!! I'm also obsessed with cokehead Nico! It started as chat fic inspired by @kritischetheologie's (executive producer of the CNEU) post about jobless, richboy Nico. The thing about cokehead Nico is that he didn't fail to make his own name--he just never tried. I imagine him as a directionless, self-destructive teen who made a conscious decision not to pursue racing (I see this as Nico preemptively destroying his own potential). In any case, he was obviously still attracted to racing and began street racing quite young, and that fulfills him as much as he allows anything to. (Since I started writing cokehead Nico he's almost become more of a partyboy than a street racer, but I don't totally mind.) In the vague future CNEU story where Lewis asks Nico to properly be with him, Nico definitely has the thoughts you described, especially since reentering the racing scene would expose his heritage and the person he decided not to be. In any case, you're right that brocedes fans are addicted to pain!!!!

I'm totally with you on Nico pushing Lewis away, but I wonder whether Lewis would be able to articulate that idea so clearly. You will definitely get more cokehead Nico either way! He is my blorbo of blorbos.

Even though Stoffel was still muttering under his breath - and all of that were Dutch curse words, Mitch was sure - he got out of the car and joined Mitch next to the hood.

"I told you we should've asked the car rental for something different. Maybe something more suitable to you. Like a Polo." Stoffel's smirk was wiped off his face when he inhaled some of the white smoke that kep wafting up from the engine.

Mitch snorted, suppressing a laugh against his will. "We have a serious problem here, can we maybe focus on that?"

He leaned forwards waving and fanning the smoke out of his face with quick movements of his hand, and squinted down to the engine. They had rented a car to get to their holiday destination - and now they stood on the side of the road somewhere in the middle of California, with an engine failure on their hands and the hot sun burning down on them. An inconspicous car would truly have been a better choice, Mitch thought to himself - obviously he was not about to annouce that to Stoffel.

Mitch sighed heavily, stepping back from the mess. Maybe that last donut and the little bit of speeding he'd put the car through had been too much? "I can't see anything with all the smoke," he announced, "and I don't want to stick my hand in there while it's still hot... Do you think we should-"

"Call roadside assisstance?" Stoffel snapped his phone shut with no concern for the bendy touchscreen, and pulled Mitch away from the gaping hood of the car. "Already done."

Mitch groaned and scrubbed his hand over his face. "I'm sorry. This is really not how I imagined our holidays to start..."

Stoffel had had another quip on the tip of his tongue, but when he saw that Mitch was starting to mope, he pressed a kiss to the tip of his nose. "Now, stop looking like that. We'll be rescued in no time!"

"Easy for you to say!" Mitch buried his face against Stoffel's neck and hugged him close. "I hate cars," he complained, voice muffled.

I think it would be so funny if they actually tried being a couple in this au because, so far they’ve been nothing but toxic to each other, and well. I think it would be an unmitigated disaster BUT they do fuck super nasty and I think it would be fun to write. 

If you're interested in how I'd flesh it out:

it would probably get much worse before it can get any better because neither of them can really win without the other losing out. I could see them growing fond of each other over time, But, while I was writing Lewis for this au, I did sort of see him as permanently fucked up over Nico and unable to move on from him (though it’s completely up to your interpretation if you agree). I don’t really see him ending up with Max romantically without a pretty intense character growth arc (which is possible, I just haven’t thought of one yet)  

I also am incapable of envisioning something without a 3316 endgame unfortunately (sorry anon if that’s not what you were looking for!) There’s a vague idea in my mind of 3316 loosely paralleling brocedes and maybe Lewis shit-stirring between them but also genuinely feeling bad for them and eventually helping them out (which is also! growth! and closure!)

In my heart Max wins 2028 idc how and then he retires back on top <3 but who knows, I might be in the mood for pain.

Nico was kind of excited to be back in the paddock, doing interviews again.

It had been a while, since RxR racing had kept him occupied. And all the speeches and lectures he did on a green environment.

Not to mention that he was a married man and his husband was still one of the greatest drivers of all time. But that greatest driver also deserves his attention.

It wasn't always easy....they both struggled to manage their work and time together into equal amounts.

Most of the time it wasn't really possible.

But they were together and happy and that was the most important thing.

When Nico was on the paddock at the media pen, he always felt the closest to Lewis that he's ever been, even if Lewis wasn't even near him.

It came with the memories of both being drivers for so long.

The paddock, in whatever country they might be, it always became like a second home.

All of the drivers became a second family.

He didn't know where Lewis was right now, but he had no time to search for him either.

Daniel was already coming over to him for his interview, looking just as radiant as ever.

He loved interviewing Daniel. Every interviewer did.

He just had this aura about him that drew you in and made you hang onto his lips with every word he said. And then his charming smile of course.

If he wasn't married to Lewis - - - No. That wasn't even true.

He wouldn't want to marry any other guy than Lewis.

He'd say he wouldn't want to marry anyone but Lewis, but sadly that wasn't the truth either because he was married to Vivian before.

But, he definitely took P1 in the 'guys he'd want to marry' category.

He took a last look at his papers before greeting Daniel and asking him his first question.

Daniel seemed to have his gaze fixed on something behind Nico instead of on Nico himself, which was a little bit confusing. But hey, it was Daniel after all.

But now he's asking his second question and Daniel is still looking behind him.

Nico is about to whirl around to see what's going on, but suddenly he's constricted by two strong arms around his waist, an all too familiar chest pressed up against his back and two lips pressed against his cheek.

Those words are whispered into his ear, but he doesn't have time to react (not that he could anyway) because the presence behind him is gone just as fast as he came and left Nico stranded there.

In front of all those cameras and phones and whatever else people used to make videos with these days.

He whips his head to look over his shoulder, just in time to catch Lewis winking at him.

If he was flustered before, it got even worse now.

And to make things even more embarrassing, he can hear Daniel's amused clearing of his throat.

its crazy how i found a fossilized brocedes video from 2013 due to a tiktok and it is filled with wild moments.
