isnt it kinda funny how in the Clexa fandom Ranya has become 'THE' background romance?. like in almost every single fic ive read Anya and Raven are together... its like y'all seen the two of em and went "mmmmmmm, but what if we made em kiss?????" whereas Octavia/Lincoln is always there too, which is unique because in lots of f/f fics the m/f parings are usually split up and given to samesex partners but most people see the relationship as so pure and loving they get a pass, even wlw adore Linc

I love these fandom quirks like that Lexa’s last name is Woods in modern AUs or Anya’s is usually that I have seen Forrester. As for the m/f ships, honestly it bothers me when people split canon m/f ships up ESPECIALLY when they aren’t toxic or when they involve a character that isn’t white. Because to me the intent there is very telling - especially the second instance - and uh, let’s just say there’s a lot to unpack. But generally, yeah, sure ship whatever you want but if you split up healthy ships to prop up toxic ones (regardless of sexual orientation etc) I’m going to wonder about it a little. (spoiler alert, I am probably going to get shit for it but I think that sometimes, even when you do pair two characters of the same sex that aren’t together in canon and deliberately gloss over the fact that they had previous relationships with the opposite sex before while stating either with subtext or phrasing they are bi - that might be ended - it’s usually internalized biphobia) 

As for Ranya? Yeah, the fandom took a collective look at them and was like PERFECT MATCH.

It also gave me such ranya on vacation vibes and now all I can think about is the two of them at the beach, riding around on a golf cart. The laugh that bubbled up from within the Limsan native’s chest was melodic and light; a grand contrast to her normal curt chuckles.

“I would hope that I understand him well enough. I allow him into my bed at his leisure, and he has free reign of my home. There is a measure of connection that is necessary for such things to be allowed.” The red-headed businesswoman waved a hand, swatting her amusement out of the sky like a displaced cloud of smoke.

“Asahi is a quiet man,” she continued, leaning back in her chair and allowing her steel stare to lift skyward, “But his silence still says much. There are subtle texts written into the way his eyes look at something, or how his hands might curl and twitch during conversation. Even his breathing can advise when he is still ‘on duty’ versus ‘at ease’. One simply has to have the desire to pay attention.”

Ranya smirked, arching a brow as she reached for her coffee cup. “And I find the subject matter being lectured through his every action to be absolutely fascinating. It makes being a student very easy. Delightfully so.”

“I-I would never claim to know e-every thought and intention that is forged in his mind,” Phenalyn started carefully, focusing on taking deep breaths to keep her heart steady and sure. “In truth, I feel silly sometimes. One would think I was trying to decipher some sort of complex ancient puzzle with how much I struggle with simple courtship.”

That dusting of spring pink bloomed to her cheeks, and one hand fled to rest against her collar and neck. “But I am l-learning!” she hurried afterwards, doing her best to push her shoulders back and puff up her chest. Anything to express that tiny bit of pride that peeked through the cracks of her nerves.

“I can sense his weariness. His exhaustion is often tangible, as if it rolls off him in waves and makes the air heavy around him. I need not inquire. Lanceloux is quite clear with that, w-whether he wishes to be or not.” Her bashfulness twisted to concern for a breath before that that pleasant blush turned into the bright red of a passionate summer’s kiss.

“A-and I am beginning to understand that his silence, his stillness, his patience…it is not just that. There is m-more there. An inquiry…a gentle coaxing.” Her smile was small, but filled with warmth. “I have never met someone so inspiring without a single battle cry or long winded speech passing their lips. Not e-even I can resist that call.”

As if she could have ever resisted at all.
