something that pisses me off in RA is that Flanagan will occasionally hype up Pauline as this super important and prominent figure in Will’s life, even treat her as a proxy for the mother he never knew, and yet will just refuse to show it beyond the like. two or three (personal) conversations that they have in canon. I get that he was attempting to make her an important person in Will’s life but why not do that by actually making her an important person in Will’s life
#hey Flanagan I hate to tell u but just because she’s married to Will’s father figure does not automatically make her his mom figure#what REALLY annoys me is how easy it would have been for him to connect her & will#like hey. if only there were a pretty clear gap in Will’s education that halt couldn’t fulfill - say for example mmmm diplomacy?#(cause we all know how gifted halt is at conflict resolution)#then he’d have a valid reason to seek out a master of diplomacy for lessons in negotiating compromises & treaties#but no I guess not. Will’s just naturally good at diplomacy despite never really being exposed to it#yk what extra sucks?#if Pauline HAD taught will about treaties & stuff then him receiving the last name treaty wouldve been 1000x more meaningful#it would’ve spoken to her influence on him and solidified her as a sort of parental figure in her own right#AND as an extra extra bonus: if she came to the cabin to teach will about negotiation tactics and such#then we could’ve gotten more halt/Pauline interactions. as in: we could’ve actually seen them being in love ON SCREEN instead of just being#told that they loved each other#will could’ve had a chance to see how much the two of them mean to each other. and then he would’ve had some actual basis for a speech#at their wedding or whatever#but yeah no why do that when we can just imply that will & Pauline got super close off screen? same effect right?????#ranger’s apprentice#pauline dulacy#halt o’carrick#will treaty#I love these books so so much don’t get me wrong. but there are just some things……#anyway.#jackie rambles

I've always speculated that Tadan actually really likes carrot cake but he just tells you he doesn't care for it so that you would have extra.
Maybe he noticed how unwell the PC seems (giving no thought to himself, in an arguably worse state, of course), and wanted to help in some small way. Maybe he noticed the pc hasn't been eating much as Mordrombor's influence is making them unwell. Maybe Tadan himself has lost his apatite but won't say as much because he doesn't want to worry you, so he simply gives you his food and plays it off like he's just picky
am I reading too far into this? yes. does it still seem totally in-line for a Ranger to act like this? also yes. and I love reading into Rangers too much, it makes me sad <3
#yeah I feel like he and Tossdir have a lot in common tbh#in my current hc between Toss and Eth‚ Tossdir is the one who fell more strongly under Mordrambor's influence#and almost handed over Tan Morgul.#Eth and Corunir didn't have as much contact with the prisoner and was busy helping the Rangers elsewhere in Annuminas#So Tossdir was somewhat isolated and pretty much easy pickings for him.#predictably Tossdir blames himself for falling under Mordrambor's influence so easily#and Eth and Corunir blame themselves for leaving him to deal with Mordrambor with so little support#(they were needed everywhere at once! their group was stretched so thin after all. people were dying everywhere what else could they do)#(and Tossdir never let on that anything was wrong. that's just how he is) (and something he REALLY needs to unlearn)#yeah it sucks for everyone a whole bunch#lotro#tadan#lotro oc#tossdir#and I get ALL this from 'lol what if Tadan actually likes carrot cake'

#pokemon#pokemon oc#pokemon ranger#pokemon tcg#clai's ocs#oc: alto#clai's art#the thought process during this piece was literally ''NOOO I DONT WANT TO RENDER NOOOOO rendering is fine actually. i dont care anymore''#i tried to come up with a cool card effect? someone more well versed in the tcg please tell me if this is viable or op or sucks ass entirely#i will genuinely change the post if the effect is bad i want my beloved to have ONLY the best#other ideas i considered was smth like. finding a pokemon to play straight away to reference ranger capturing#or an effect that only benefit colorless type pokemon so that alto would pair with flying types that get assigned colorless#but since i wanted the card's name to be alto's Justice it felt more appropriate for the player to gain smth after being damaged#like maybe it depended on the opponents prize cards and how many they'd taken already#the prior effects like the colorless benefit would probably go on a standard ''Alto'' card that doesnt have the extra word appeneded yknow#i put plenty of thought into it haha i was browsing through the bulbapedia articles trying to figure out what a good card effect was#only played like. less than ten matches of tcg i'm still figuring stuff out JDJBFJF#the clouds also!! originally i was drawing generic fluffy clouds#but then it hit me. i named alto after specific clouds. why am i doing generic ones instead of the ones named Alto-Something#so these are meant to be altostratus! i can bearly draw generic clouds though idk how well i pulled off smth more specific HJEHFKF#had a lot to say abt this one i just really liked the idea of an alto card so i made sure it was as perfect as i could get it
