The Owl House

Some things I predict/would like to see for the owl house when it ends and after they finally get rid of Belos/Philip for good:

King finds a way for the Collector to set the Boiling Isles back to normal and they remain friends while the Collector goes on to have adventures across the multiverse.

Lilith becomes a renowned historian and teaches the true history of the boiling isles and the Titan and banishes Belos’s lies and propaganda. She also goes on the occasional research trip/adventure with her bestie Hooty.

Eda takes up the Clawthorne family business of Palisman carving while working with the Bat Queen to regrow the Palistrom trees in her forest and arranging adoptions for the orphaned palisman in her care. She also has a part time job as a guidance councillor at Hexside helping inspire young witches to their best areas of study like she did for Edric and Emira. Eda shares custody of Luz with Camila and they alternate weekends where the families stay at each others houses. Eda and Raine get together properly, Raine works as the music teacher at Hexside and they have a band with the other BATS which Eda guest plays with once in a while.

Hunter becomes Eda’s apprentice in the palisman carving business and works as a sort of park ranger looking after the Bat Queen’s forest and all her palisman charges while studying wild magic and playing Flyer Derby on the weekends with the Emerald Entrails. Gus is his best friend and Willow his eventual girlfriend.

Gus with the approval of Principal Bump organises field trips for the Human Appreciation Society to visit the human realm where they liaise with their expert Vee to learn more about humans and their culture. Gus goes on to become a master illusionist and ambassador between the human and demon realms.

Willow realises her full potential as a powerful witch and starts her own garden club (like the plant coven but better), captains the Flyer Derby team to victory multiple times and graduates Hexside with honours and friendships with the people that used to pick on her but have wised up. She starts dating Hunter and uses her plant skills to help the Bat Queens forest grow and expand.

Amity reunites with her family (minus Odalia cos she’s the worst and I don’t see that changing) and joins Ed and Em in the Bad Girl Coven to learn other magic tracks while still being great at abominations. She wins the next Bonesborough Brawl cheered on by her family, friends and girlfriend Luz. Amity becomes a librarian/author and collaborates with King and Luz on a new book series about a witch from the demon realm falling in love with a human girl studying to be a witch.

And Luz strikes a perfect balance between her two homes and families so she spends time on the boiling isles and time back at Gravesfield but Camilla goes with her to the owl house to spend time with her other kids and they all visit her too. Camilla and Gwen Clawthorne bond over veterinary and beast keeping and set up their own animal/beast clinic on the isles. Luz becomes a fully trained witch and helps inspire other young witches on the isles and with her sister Vee, finds other human kids like her who would flourish in the demon realm and want to learn magic. Luz and Amity stay together and Eda and Owlbert start taking bets on when they’ll get married and who’ll propose first.

Born into the cruel society of the Drow in the Underdark, Voradras did his best to fit in. From a young age, and spurred on by cautionary tales of the fate of those who left to become renegades, he knew that his heart wasn't in the endless tunnels of this lightless world, but the surface above. He followed every order for his own safety, though there was always an air of disobedience about him, much to the disdain of his Matron Mother.

After graduation, he spent some time patrolling the tunnels before finally setting the escape he had planned for years, into motion.

As one last show of his disdain for Lolth, he stole his familie's ceremonial dagger from the chapel and chopped off his long hair. Grabbing only the necessities like his piwafwi and rapier, he wandered along the tunnels for many months, finally emerging onto the surface in a cave near Neverwinter Wood.

After being turned away from every place he approached, and hunted by some, his saving grace was a strange and eccentric kenku druid called Magpie Cackle, who took him in and they became fast friends.

After taking on a quest in Neverwinter by the dwarf Gundren Rockseeker, they teamed up with the Aasimar Nephilim, Tabaxi Sunset and Woodelf Lisa, the group quickly becoming tightly knit on their way to Phandelver. Facing no prejudice from them, for the first time in his life Voradras felt content, he knew he could call this group his best friends.

After many shenanigans, including Lisa and Voradras losing their lives for a short while as they fought a vicious green dragon, they finished their quest to free Wave Echo Cave for the dwarves.

Life seemed well for them afterwards, everyone going about their own ways, though they all stayed in contact, . Voradras became a sellsword wandering about the wilderness as he wanted, together with someone he cared about a lot.

A handful of years later though, everything was turned upside down by a traumatic event involving his kin, and his subsequent kidnapping by the Nautiloid.

Worried by their friend's sudden disappearance, the group made it their task to find their lost drow friend again. Following the tracks all the way down to Baldur's Gate.

DWC February 2024 Day 2: Suppress / Pastel

The Dream was such a place of beauty, Theras thought. He had lived his whole life between the white marble and cobblestones of Dalaran and Silvermoon and the carefully cultivated forests of Quel’Thalas. Even in the Ghostlands, where his family’s ancestral home had been swallowed by the ravages of time and the arcane-shaped woods were blackened with the Scourge’s blight, it was not truly wild.

The Emerald Dream, though, was a blueprint for wilderness. There was a pattern to it, yes, in the delicate spirals winding through the grass that rippled in the sea breeze - was it a sea? What lay beyond the verdant mists off Amirdrassil’s shores? But that was the Titans’ touch, surely. Not all life within the Dream allowed itself to be so contained. Vines snaked around structures both new and old, some blooming in bright hues that the ranger had scarcely imagined before, others in delicate pastels, as if to balance the loudness of their neighbors.

Utter wilderness, scarcely suppressed even by the power of the Titans.

Theras had never had the luxury of seeing the garden that his father and Jaskian tended to in Suramar, but he remembered from his youngest days the calm that came over Luminash when he tended to the window boxes of their old home in Dalaran. After freeing himself from the Farstriders, after visiting this wellspring of all that was wild and beautiful, he could take the time to visit. Perhaps Luminash would take the time to invite him.

Whatever else had happened, whatever loomed on an uncertain horizon, at least the Dragonscale Expedition had given father and son something neither had taken the opportunity to seize before: time to untangle the thorns that had grown between them in long years apart, time to suppress, even if slightly, their own wilderness.

I'm sure you're being sent a lot of TOH-related questions right now, but what's your opinion on Belos's rise to power? Its portrayal in Elsewhere and Elsewhen somewhat makes sense for the idea that the Coven system is bad for witches (putting its implementation in the series as a whole aside), but even so it really bothers me, even with the focus on Bonesborough and all, that there's little hint of savagery in the "Savage Ages" and it's made clear that the witches back then deemed the BI Titan dead and not a deity whatsoever, which... is not consistent with how people attained power in reality nor with how the Titan is portrayed throughout the series?

You VASTLY overestimate how many asks I'm actually getting. The fact that I've even had two asks most days as of late is impressive. Mind you, it's not surprising with how anti-criticism this fandom feels and the fact that most people's blogs aren't for sharing the sorts of long winded takes I have. I'm also a small account so my rants mostly stay in my own corner (Or I get lit on fire and accused of having never watched the show).

This is a JUICY one though. The short answer to my thoughts on Belos' rise is that if you want to see it done right, go read the book "Ranger's Apprentice: The Kings of Clonmel." It actually depicts super well and convincingly how a group of bandits and brigands can use these sorts of tactics so as to almost become nobility. Ranger's Apprentice is just an amazing series in general.

As for Belos' rise…

Well, let's first lay down what the trick is he's using. It is theoretically akin to every racist who has risen to power on the platform of "I will make this country great again and part of that plan is to persecute these people who are perceived as a problem for some reason." This is commonly associated with religious or national fervor due to the fact that people don't need concrete proof if that which they have faith in is what they see as being attacked. It also gives the people a wide, established base of those who are already scared and primed for action for one reason or another. This is why rises of fascist movements often happen in countries facing economic decline or severe disparity because people are desperate and ready to believe anything.

The Isles during the savage lands have… LITERALLY NONE OF THIS. Let's review:

The Scapegoat: "Wild witches, those who use all types of magic, are evil murderers out to destroy me!" Um… Except EVERYONE uses all types of magic. So you are claiming EVERYONE is a wild witch currently. You are not narrowing your targets down or giving them an inhuman face, especially with your claim.

The Fear: "They're out to destroy me! Even now they've found me and will burn this place down trying to kill me!" …So you're the problem? The threat isn't against anyone in the Isles, it's just you. And you're the one telling us we're all wrong? Why does trouble and death follow you from town to town, razing as it goes? Suddenly you seem to be the real threat…

The Religion: Um… As you pointed out, the denizens of the Isles consider the Titan to be dead in the past. What did Belos do to convince them that the Titan was alive? How long had they considered the Titan dead? The Titan being a god is obviously not something they considered so why did anyone listen to this crackpot who effectively said, "I HEAR GHOSTS AND WANT TO RULE YOU BECAUSE THE VOICES IN MY HEAD TELL ME"?

The Nation: This is maybe the only positive? It's questionable how connected to the rest of the towns any one town in the Isles is. This creates a problem of identity. "Oh, they burned down this one village? Fuck that village. Their mayor owed me fifty snails and their crazy person told me my cat smells." And if they are connected, then it becomes "I would have heard if my cousin got killed by wild witches! And besides, are you saying Gertrude is a bad person? Her pies are great and she makes them with baking and beast keeping!"

And finally, the unrest: The Isles pre-Belos is depicted as a utopia. Philip gets a man killed and jacks his palisman and the worst that his two brothers? or at least cohorts threaten to do is burn his journal. That is… Fucking nothing compared to literally anything a bad guy does in S1 of TOH. And this is for getting someone MURDERED. This is not a society with a crap ton of problems like we're told in S1 for how Belos came to power (history is written by the victors so I don't even consider this a plothole besides it being just badly done). Instead, it's depicted as being in pure harmony purely to make the kind one time the show actually makes a case for the coven system being bad outside of "Restrictions to expression are bad" that is the basis for the show claiming Covens don't work for the most part.

None of it works. None of it is actually thought out enough to be anything more than taking inspiration from real world events, real world ATROCITIES and plastering them on face value without actually appreciating what goes into those sorts of systems of manipulation and abuse.

Honestly, end of the day it comes off as tone deaf and half assed when this is such a crucial part of your villains ethos, their plan and your plot in general because this should be a large part of explaining how the world got to be the way it is. It isn't though because there's no actual explanation for how we got from Utopia to Belos ruling. None at all. Not when realistically he would have been caged and killed just on the superstition that he brought death everywhere he went.

But I mean, they literally can't keep it consistent from episode to episode whether fucking Belos believes what he says about the Titan or knows that it's dead because he enters its fucking skull. The show did not give a fuck about making this plot work. So why not make something that someone talk about for a thousand words in a think piece over instead of actually trying to make it coherent?

Because there's a lot of that in this show and it's why I can talk so much about it.

Ok this is my first time doing this but I had an idea for a fic I will not be writing because I have the writing ability of a squirrel but I'm thinking the Hexsquad as power rangers.

Belos could find an ancient source of magic that can be used to make monsters and decides to send them across the isles to both destroy witches and demons and cause hatred as he claims it's wild witches doing it. To protect the isles the Morphin grid conspires with the spirit of the titan to make Luz, Willow and Gus Power Rangers with Luz as the red ranger, Willow as the green ranger and Gus as the blue ranger with their Palismen helping be the Zords. Belos clearly not liking this starts painting the rangers as wild magic vigilantes trying to deceive them and creates a team with Hunter and Amity(who Odalia volunteered for this) since their young and might be better suited to fight the rangers as the Golden and Lavender guards. But Amity being Amity and Luz being Luz they bond outside of masks, Amity realizes the rangers aren't bad, realizes Luz and her friends are the rangers, quits as the guard and eventually becomes the Pink power ranger. It takes longer for Hunter since he's had a lifetime supply of Kool aid but he eventually realizes Belos is evil, meets Flapjack and the hexsquad, also quits(read runs away) before coming back as the gold ranger.

This is just something that came to me while reading Equestria girls x Power Rangers fanfiction so what do y'all think

Everything I Managed to Watch in 2022

I might as well give you my thoughts on...exactly what it says on the tin. I'll try to keep things short and simple since I'm kinda tired and I wanna finish celebrating the year's end, lmao.

First up, the movies!

On the television side of things, Smiling Friends, Dead End, The Cuphead Show, and Super Robot Giant Brothers, were pretty good! The Cuphead Show got better after its rather mediocre first season and I grew to love it. Smiling Friends I was happy turned out good as I expected, and I'm excited for season 2. Dead End was a nice surprise, I grew to like the characters and I appreciated how it handled its LGBT and Autism representation. Super Giant Robot Brothers deserves more love, Reel FX did a good job with that one, had some dynamic action and fun character moments.

For decent stuff, the only one was Hamster and Gretel. Will get back to it, but I hope gets a better execution than Milo Murphy's Law, which I liked too but the second season wasn't so great, oof.

On the other hand, shows that didn't wowed me were Oddballs and sadly Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight. The former had some decent jokes and maybe a character that amused me like Max, but the other attempts at jokes fell flat and characters like Echo really annoyed me.

The Dragon Knight was like the biggest disappointment for me. As a huge fan of KFP, I was hoping it would turn out to be a good show, maybe a better outing than the last KFP TV show. But I stopped at I think episode 5 and lost interest all around. The animation was a bit unfinished, and the writing choices were kind of questionable. I am glad they brought back Jack Black as Po, but alas...

There's like other shows that aired this year along with new seasons of other shows I love, but I'll watch them for next year.

For the anime stuff, Demon Slayer Season 2 was great, same with Spy X Family and Attack on Titan. Really happy I managed to give it another shot. Chainsaw Man also aired and of course was incredible. I'm already caught up with the manga and I'm eager to see how they'll handle the rest of the story soon. Urusei Yatsura 2022 I also want to shout out. I need to get back into binging the original series, but so far, the reboot is neat!

And also, I made a list of Anime Openings I watched this year and fell in love with. Keep in mind, I haven't seen any of these anime yet based on this list, aside from the ones I just mentioned above and also My Hero Academia, but I lost interest for that series because of story problems lately, yeah...

Name every tv show/movie francheise you hyperfixated on in order

Ok I'll try

I think Spongebob, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Dora the Explorer were the very first ones (like when I was just coming out of toddler age)

Then ICarly and Drake and Josh came next (5-7)

First EXTREME hyperfixation was Special Agent Oso (5-8)

Then my brain latched onto Cyberchase and Wild Krats (5-8 but moreso Cyberchase. One of my earliest memories was sitting at the computer eating my lunch and watching cyberchase episodes on the pbs kids website)

Then tmnt 2012 happened, became the longest hyperfixation ever (8-13, the hyperfixation fell dormant when Rise began airing and exploded back into existence last year)

Then there was The Legend of Korra and then Avatar The Last Airbender (8-11, yes I started watching Korra before Avatar, only because by the time I was forming actual memories and had mostly graduated from Nick Jr and Disney Jr, Avatar was already finished and Korra was just airing, sue me)

Power Rangers also happened around this time (8-12, second longest hyperfixation after tmnt 2012 but it died after Power Rangers Dino Charge ended and unlike tmnt 2012 didnt explode back into my brain)

Also happening at this time, Winx Club and Monster High hyperfixations. (Though Monster High lasted longer than Winx Club did, mostly because Nickelodeon wasnt airing all the episodes goddamn it nick)

Then the Star Wars hyperfixation began (12-14/15, this one has the most random start. I got into Star Wars because of Angry Birds Star Wars 2 and Im not kidding. I was really into Angry birds and that one looked cool ok?)

The Supernatural (13-16 ok this ones weird because technically I was watching it with my dad when I was young child but didnt remember ANYTHING before season nine so...idk)

Brief Steven Universe hyperfixation (15) but dropped it because Steven Universe Future didnt look very appealing and this was around the time when Steven Universe was getting dragged through the fucking mud (like it still is :/)

Tried to get into the original Teen Titans cartoon but the only time those episodes were airing was early in the morning and I could only manage to watch one or two before I had to leave for school, and they werent always airing either.

Also tried to get into Miraculous Ladybug but I just found the season 1 episodes to be so repetitive and annoying :/ also Nick was hardly ever airing them so idk.

(Honorable mention, Hamilton the musical. And before you ask, yes I was one of those people. I now cringe remembering my 15 year old self. Thankfully that hyperfixation was very brief as it only lasted about a year and got quickly overshadowed by Batim, Hollow Knight, Cuphead, Epic Mickey and Steven Universe hyperfixations happening all at the same in my silly little brain.)

And now the tmnt 2012 hyperfixation is back in absolute full force and probably isnt leaving anytime soon

12. Give us a random celebrity you can't stand and why.

Hmmm I try not to be a hater, and also I'm not really super on the up and up vis a vis battle culture. BUT specifically Iono has been grating on me. Not anything to do with her streaming persona, that's whatever. But Levincia releases a huge amount of light pollution which not only ruins the view of the night sky but also is really detrimental to local bird populations. We've been fighting with the city to get them to cap their damn spotlights, but they just aren't budging and Iono has been zero help. I know it's not her decision but c'mon girl you're supposed to be a leader in your community. Set an example.

36. Which pokemon took you the longest to bond with?

I actually struggle a bit with dragon types in general. They just take everything so damn seriously and have such delicate little egos sometimes. Like get overrrr yourselves, yanno?

The worst was this Flygon back in Hoenn. I was deployed short term to the desert base, and often times areas will have one big, predatory, badass pokemon that's kinda that area's leader pokemon (think like Titans in Alola). They're very cool, and critical to their ecosystem. And being so critical, it's also super important for the Rangers in the area to develop a bond with them. This Flygon though, man it was having NONE of my shit. He'd see me coming and just rally the entire desert against me. No clue what I did to piss him off so much, I think he just hated my vibe. One time he saw me wayyyyy across the dunes and RACED over to me just to slap me with the biggest haymaker. Dick.

And we never really got past that. Like I said, it was a short term deployment, mostly to stretch staffing a little while they were recruiting. Given enough time we probably could have come to a truce, but I just didn't have enough time to work on it. That's kinda the nature of the job though- you work with wild pokemon, and no matter how good you are at your job or how much you love pokemon there will be some that ya just don't click with. Took my ego down a few notches, but that's life 🤷
