1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
62
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
225 819
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Generally only one at a time, but I've technically published fic in five fandoms: The Rookie, Community, Supernatural, Archer, and Thor.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
if you smile at me again i may do something stupid (The Rookie)
don't wanna stop just because people walking by are watching us (The Rookie)
let me go under your skin, let me find the demons that drive those heavenly limbs (The Rookie)
you be screamin' now they banging on our door (The Rookie)
i've got time, i've got love (The Rookie)
5. Do you respond to comments?
I do! As much as I can! You could probably rope me into a whole ass conversation because I don't know how to end the call and response.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
The as of yet publicly unpublished "random angst prompt" which will breach containment eventually, after I clean it up.
As for published fics, angst is not my forte, so I don't do it often, and it's rarely actually that angsty... But maybe a tie between we drank a toast to innocence (The Rookie) or between the drinks and subtle things, the holes in my apologies (The Rookie)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Uh... Hmm. 95% of my fics have happy endings so it's hard for me to judge. Maybe my recent one, she's just a girl and she's on fire (The Rookie)?
I also took a few steps past sappy in you're one of the few things that i'm sure of (The Rookie) and Life Lessons in Absurdist Storytelling (Community)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
All my good luck must get used up here, because I really don't.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do write smut! And I guess it's mostly the cishet kind because those have mostly been my ships (special place in my heart for Troy/Abed).
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I've dabbled, on occasion, but it's not really my go-to. I have an unfinished Supernatural/Community crossover and that's about it.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Don't think so!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I'm aware of.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I've riffed back and forth in comments and on discord or email, but no, never a properly co-authored fic.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Oh gosh, well, I'm still here with chenford but Jeff/Annie will always have my heart even if I'm not involved in the fandom anymore.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
The only WIP is the aforementioned Supernatural/Community crossover and, like, sorry... It's probably never happening. I do have a jucy lay-turned-chenford fic that has been under construction since 2021-ish.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I like to think I'm funnyish and can get some decent banter going. Not totally sure what my writing strengths are... Entertaining myself, most probably.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Ha, well, this I could write an essay on. Occasionally my worst impulses run away with me and I try to be really poetic and it just comes off cloying, I think? Or incoherent, maybe.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I can passably write some French and I might occasionally, if the situation calls for it, use google translate (Community was initially centred around a study group for Spanish, for instance) but I typically stick to English as it's the language I know best and the one, usually, that my characters know best too.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Ha, I don't know if I want to admit this... But X-Men (the comics, not the movie, my fics predated the movies 😅)
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Ooh, I'm terrible at picking favourites, but I enjoyed both of my vampire slayer AUs: 'cause i know you and you know me (The Rookie) and Special Topics in Demonology (A): Vampire Basics (Community).
And, fine, fine, not popular in a shipping community obviously, but as the founding member of the Let Lucy Get Laid Brigade, I wrote a few fics featuring Lucy with other partners for #30daysoflovingforlucy and cast various Canadians, and it was just fun. All five fics are part of my series but baby it's okay if i am still the best you had
Obviously, anyone who would like to participate should (would love to see gif makers like @detectivechen or @relentlessescapism answer these kinds of questions...), but for the purposes of spreading the joy far and wide (no pressure), @dollsome-does-tumblr, @write-or-wrong88, @doomedship, @jakelovesamy, @universallongings, @farfarawaygirl

Part three!
Since that exchange in the hospital, Trilby and Chris’ dynamic had become much more… agreeable. It still wasn’t exactly what would be expected from soulmates, but Chris tried not to be so bitter, and Trilby tried not to let his mind be made up ahead of time when it came to the demon slayer.
And while, with or without previous bias, Chris was still loud, brash, and impulsive, Trilby had also found him to be capable, sweet, and funnier than he’d openly admit.
And when they weren’t at each other’s throats, their missions together just worked. Chris was an expert at his job, and fearless in the field to boot. And Trilby was levelheaded and knew when to be cautious. They were almost unstoppable.
Of course this wasn’t always the case. You take two deeply flawed men, and put them on the same team, and sometimes things go wrong.
This was the second time Trilby had ended up in some sort of panic while on the job. The first time he’d managed to choke down some tranquilizers and keep going, even if Chris had been suspicious of how quickly he’d fallen asleep on the ride back.
This time he’d forgotten the bloody pills at home, and all he could think of was how he was positive he’d seen someone who had to be with the order. They weren’t even at the place they were meant to investigate yet. It wasn’t far from the motel so Chris had suggested walking.
And Trilby had locked eyes with someone in all red, staring directly at him. He swore him and Chris turned a corner right as the person started to cross the street, to the side where he was.
He was trying not to let his fear show, after all it could be paranoia, he’d seemingly gained a fair bit of it after the events of the hotel.
Then he glanced behind him and saw the guy heading straight towards them.
Chris seemingly noticed Trilby’s discomfort because he moved closer to him, whispering, “What’s wrong?”
“… we’re being followed. Guy in red.”
“Right.” Suddenly Trilby’s hand was in his work partner’s, and he was being lead through streets and alleys, that guy never far behind them, and Trilby’s panic continuing to grow until he was almost being dragged along more than consciously moving his feet.
Once they were a good ways away from where anyone else was, in some back alley, Chris suddenly stopped. Trilby turned around just in time to see the red clad weirdo pull a knife and run at him and-
He stepped back, stumbling and falling in an attempt to avoid an attack that didn’t come. In a series of swift motions Chris whacked the attacker in the head with a gun, and shot him.
For a moment there was silence, Chris watched the corpse, waiting for something to happen. Trilby wasn’t the type of person to be spooked by a random guy, maybe he’d been a monster or… possessed or… but nothing happened. Except Chris hearing mumbling behind him.
“Fuck no-no no no they’ve found me-fucking hell I thought it was over I-“ Trilby was breathing fast, wide eyed and staring at the body. Chris barely thought about it before he was at his side, holding out his hands but not grabbing Trilby’s in case he made things worse.
“Hey hey hey, look, guy’s dead. He’s not getting up from that trust me, you need your brain to be alive. Breathe for me, okay Trilbs? He was just some wanker, you’re fine.”
“No no no-Chris he’s with the- he’s with the order! He knew who I was I could tell I-“
“The order of blessed agonies?”
“Yes!” Trilby got up, “Chris we have to leave we’re not safe.” Chris had heard about the pain cult plenty of times. He’d had his own experiences with them too, nothing to leave the type of impression they’d clearly had on poor Trilbs though.
“Okay, okay, we’ll leave. How about this, we go back to the motel-“
“We won’t know if it’s safe.”
“Okay, we go back to grab our stuff and bring it to my truck then.” Chris assured, rising with Trilby, “Trust me nobody’s getting to us in ole Susan, she’s a good girl. Saved my ass from a lot of weirdos. We can drive somewhere out of town and come up with a game plan okay?” Trilby stared at him, still breathing heavily, tears starting to well.
“How’s a truck supposed to stop them??” Chris hated seeing him all freaked out like this, he wished he could meet the assholes who did this and give them a piece of his mind. Those pretty eyes were meant to be looking over an area for the stealthiest route through, or rolling at one of Chris’ jokes. Not darting around in fear.
“Trilbs.” Chris finally just grabbed the other’s hands, “Do you trust me? Actually don’t answer that-do you trust that I know how to do my job?”
“… yes.” Chris moved one hand to wipe tears off that gorgeous face.
“Then trust me to get us out of this safe.”
Trilby had been having these episodes since Dafoe Manor, something looked or smelled or felt a certain way and suddenly all he could think about was how he was doomed, how surely those horrible situations would play themselves back out, and he’d end up frozen with fear. A particularly nasty flashback-should he call them flashbacks? That one was one at least.- had landed him in the situation that lead to him dealing with the ministry.
He’d almost had a handle on it before the hotel.
Everything was worse now.
And the triggers for it were always so… mundane. Mannequins, too much red, large houses, welding masks, the smell of an old building, just to name a few.
So he was glad Chris’ usual quips were absent as he let himself basically be lead to the motel. He still wasn’t too sure of his own feet, but Chris had wrapped an arm around him, pulling Trilby as close as possible without looking strange, and Trilby’s hand had almost absentmindedly found itself gripping tightly onto the fabric of his trenchcoat.
Once they were in the vehicle and out of town, the panic started to dissipate, and Trilby was left feeling rather silly at his earlier reaction. Finally Chris found a spot to park and turned to him. “Trilbs are you-“
“I’m fine. I don’t want to talk about it.”
Chris paused before reaching for his hand, “Are you sure-“
“Yes.” Trilby snapped, yanking his hand back, immediately feeling a bit guilty for the reaction, “… sorry.”
Chris paused, before reaching for the radio, and Trilby had to keep from covering his ears at the idea of that rock and roll channel he insisted on listening to. But surprisingly enough he quickly turned it down, then changed it to a classical station before turning it up slightly. The thank you that was muttered out didn’t do much to express how much that actually meant to him in that moment.
He closed his eyes, trying to focus on the music and not what had happened earlier, or the order, or anything else.
He heard quiet humming and felt a comforting warmth radiate throughout his chest, spreading and encompassing his entire body in a warm safe feeling. When he opened his eyes again Chris was calmly running his hand over the string, holding it to his chest as he did so.
They stayed like that for a while before the silence was broken.
“… I’m sorry-I’m not normally like that. I shouldn’t have let that get to me so quickly…”
“Hey. We’ve all got our broken pieces, Trilbs. And we all need to be pieced back together sometimes. It sucks less when you don’t have to do it alone.”

Silly Story Time
So I meant to say this earlier at one point but I've gone back to work for my first job I ever had because they literally could not find anyone else to dishwash and since I hadn't been working (because I've been trying to find something else beside restaurant work like library work but that hasn't been going well) I deiced to go back and help out till they could find someone.
So while returning to this job I have this Heisenberg keychain, a rather gorgeous piece I got off etsy. (which is sold out now T.T but the shop was OrtemProductions and here is a photo of said keychain)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, I have this key chain on my backpack and I have only had two people notice it at work and they are the greatest reactions I have had to anything containing to a favorite character:
So here is what happened:
So coworker 1 who we all call Ma (she is basically the work mom and an actual mom and we all love her) is waiting for me to finish up my work but notices my backpack moves the other keychains out of the way to get a look at the Heisenberg keychain.
Ma: Ooooo!! Amanda is this your sexy man? (proceeds to do the shoulder shimmy at the word sexy because that is just something we do at work lol, whenever the word sexy is used the shoulder shimmy accompanies it) She then calls over another coworker to look at the key chain and says something I couldnt hear
Meanwhile Im just dying inside but I am so happy that someone finally noticed it and Im just like haha yeeesss that is my sexy man thank you >///<
We then proceed to talk about characters and fandoms her daughter and husbands like which happen to be demon slayer >:D
A week or two later: someone else spots the Heisenberg keychain
Coworker 2 (funny ass dude who is just a little shit but great) was kneeling down to get something then proceeds to sit up and lock eyes with the Heisenberg keychain: Amanda! Your keychain has titties!! Like big ole titties >: O
Me: *proceeds to die laughing* I think I said something be like yes he does he's got like a dad or bear bod or whatever (Cant remember exactly what I said)
Coworker: He may have that type of bod but I got a crackhead bod! (then proceeds to walk away while Im stlll laughing my ass off)
I mean to tell these stupid short stories earlier but idk frogot XD But regardless, Heisenberg has got good reactions XD I will update if anyone else catches site of him and says something Just thought I would share with y'all XD
But yeah random post lol
I hope you guys have a good day <3

Can we have more Bickslow headcannons? And maybe Evergreen, Freed, and Lexus too?
Fuck yeah you can! I’m gonna start with a lot of angst and then move into their dynamics as a team. (this got REALLY long but I’m not sorry)
-I gave you all my HC for Freed’s backstory in my last post and mentioned that Freed is the reason that Bickslow and Evergreen joined the guild, so have both their backstories too!
-Bickslow grew up in a travelling circus with several other child performers. It wasn’t exactly a nice environment. There were lots of issues and safety hazards and abuse going on behind the scenes, but they were forced to keep smiling and performing through it all.
-Bickslow was especially targeted by the ringmaster because of his magic allowing him to look into people’s souls. The ringmaster is the one who forced him to wear a helmet when he wasn’t using his ability on the crowd for money.
-Because of that, he only had five friends back then, all children younger than he was, who looked up to him both for his tricks and the fact that no matter how upset he was, he had a smile for them.
-one day the tent caught fire during a practice. Bickslow was the only one to make it out alive.
-but considering all the traumatic events they went through, most of the children kept there weren’t able to move on, and their spirits lingered in the area... Except for the five kids who were most fond of Bickslow. They stayed near him and talked to him all the time, especially once they realized he could see them. You still have a soul as a spirit after all.
-the town he was in began to think he was crazy because he was “talking to the air” all the time, and they would continuously call child services to try and take him to an orphanage. The five spirits however, would warn him before they could, and Bickslow used his years of acrobatics skills to stay away from anyone who tried to move him away from where the circus burned down. It may have been a place of trauma, but there were good memories too, and it’s all he had.
-So the town tried one last gamble. Who better to adopt a child with mysterious magic that Fairy Tail?
-And Makarov, in an attempt to get Laxus to be more social, decided to send him and Freed.
-It went about as well as you’d expect. Laxus tried to fight him while Freed did research on the area and what happened to him.
-Laxus didn’t have as much control over his magic as he thought he did at that age, and Bickslow was kicking his ass before Freed showed up and trapped him so they could talk.
-Freed shared his story with him and offered the same thing Laxus once offered him: a home.
-Bickslow cracked soon after that, and told them everything after Freed started asking questions about the town thinking he’s crazy while they were on the train back to magnolia.
-While many members of Fairy Tail were unnerved by him, those around their age did their best to make him feel at home. Natsu listened to all his stories about the circus and about the five ghosts who followed him, and Bickslow listened to his stories about the dragons.
-Freed used this time to research Seith magic extensively, and he eventually came across the idea of putting the souls into objects. He and Bickslow worked for weeks to figure out how to do it, and the five spirits became his five main “dolls.”
-He of course, asked them if they were okay with being alongside him before putting them inside the tiki dolls, and if he cried when they said there was nowhere else they’d rather be? Well Freed and Laxus weren’t going to tell anyone about it.
-Evergreen was both harder and easier to get back to Fairy Tail.
-Like Freed, She was once a part of the noble class, but under a name she never wants to use again.
-When she gained her eye magic, she accidentally turned her mother to stone, and it was all downhill from there. Her father tried to keep her locked in a room, and it worked for a long time.
-Eventually though, she had decided she’d had enough, and snuck out and ran as far away as she could. She kept a ribbon tied around her eyes any time she had to go into town, and learned how to walk while completely blind. This did some damage to her eyesight after several years of doing it.
-it felt like it was too good to be true. She was free and she did odd little jobs in a town far from her original home to earn money for food. it was all she needed..... Until a child tore the ribbon from her face.
-the second she made eye contact, the little boy turned to stone. There was nothing she could do about it except cover her face up again and run.
-her father, however, had notified several guilds about her disappearance and claimed she was dangerous if left alone, so when stories spread about a homeless child turning a boy to stone, it became their first lead in months.
-there was a lull in fighting missions at the time, and something about her magic intrigued Freed. It was an eye magic like his and Bickslow’s first magics, and they aren’t exactly common. Freed, Laxus, and Bickslow took it upon themselves to take the mission to bring her home.
-She very quickly figured out how to hide herself in the woods and away from people. Freed had to trap the entire area and make it so that eye magics don’t work within his barriers before they could even get close to her. It took almost a month.
-And much to their surprise, she was nothing like what they were expecting. After all, they were supposed to be hunting down a nobleman’s son, not a daughter.
-Bickslow almost immediately asks her about why she ran away, and Ever looks up at him- then panics as she slams her eyes shut- but he doesn’t turn to stone because of Freed’s runes, and he explains as such.
-They have a long conversation about why she ran away, and she tells them everything her father did to her, from being locked in her room to being terrified to tell him she’s his daughter and not his son because of his anger issues.
-They realize then and there they can’t give her back to him, and Freed comes up with the plan to tell him that they didn’t find his son, but rather a random girl with a similar magic, and she can join Fairy Tail instead of staying on the run.
-The only reason she doesn’t agree immediatly is because of her eye magic. She couldn’t control it, and the idea of turning someone to stone again scared her.
-Freed sent Laxus to buy a pair of glasses without a prescription and a nice dress for her to wear, and he etches runes into the glasses to block her eye magic when they’re on.
-She’s sold from that moment on, and the raijinshuu’s friendship is sealed with that secret.
-Laxus helps her chose her name before they get onto the train, and they solidify the story before then too
-Makarov Accepts the story without question, even though they have a sneaking suspicion he knows.
-They become a tight knit group in no time.
-Then they learn about Ivan and all he did to Laxus, and they start to jokingly refer to themselves as the Laxus protection squad. It’s a lot less of a joke when Ivan’s actually around though, and the guild definitely notices. Makarov even starts to officially call them that in some reports.
-No one remembers who suggested the name “raijinshuu,” but they all privately agree it’s dumb. Especially since  it insinuates that Laxus is the team leader. Freed’s the captain of their team for a reason.
-Dispite the fact that Bickslow is the tallest of them, both Laxus and Freed are both physically stronger than him. That’s not to say he isn’t strong, but Laxus can carry freakish amounts of weight due to his slayer biology, and Freed does the same due to his demon biology.
-Freed can carry all of them at once. No one knows how.
-Freed puts new runes on Ever’s glasses every time she gets new frames or a new prescription. He knows she doesn’t need it anymore, but she’s always grateful for the option.
-if they share a bed, Freed and Ever cannot sleep next to each other. Their hair tangles together and they’ve only had to make that mistake once.
-Ever and Bickslow are not under any circumstances allowed to cook, Freed can make fancy meals, and Laxus makes homemade stuff that would make your mouth water. He also stress bakes in secret at four am.
-That’s how they always know he’s stressed when he doesn’t tell them. It’s kind of hard to miss 6 batches of cookies that spontaneously appeared overnight
-Freed has an unsharpened rapier that feels like getting hit with a slap bracelet at full speed. Naturally, this is the sword he chases Bickslow with when he pisses him off.
-Laxus likes to pretend he’s one of the smartest members of the guild, but the raijinshuu knows he’s actually kind of a himbo.
-Bickslow is really close friends with Loke, and when he noticed the man was dying slowly, the others comforted him despite not knowing what was going on.
-Bickslow often helps ghosts pass on from the mortal plane.
-Evergreen keeps up with all the latest fashion, but she still considers Freed to be more fashionable. Because of this she always double checks her outfits with him.
-Evergreen’s always the first to sass someone when they’re being rude to her team. It’s earned her her reputation as a “bitch” but she’s far too proud of it to be offended.
-One Laxus was open about his dragon slayer magic, they pushed him to talk to the other slayers to learn about himself and his magic. Freed and Bickslow pushed the hardest though, since they’re friends with Natsu and knew that he would be all too willing to drag Laxus into his little family of dragon slayers.
-Laxus was much happier oncce he accepted that he was more dragon that human anyways, and the more he learned, the happier he was.
-In case it wasn’t clear: mtf Trans!Ever (she/her exclusively), he/they Freed, and  wtf is gender, is it a food?” Laxus and Bickslow (any pronouns).

There's literally no stakes in the anime at all. Its so bland and emotionless. I don't feel anything for these characters. Everything is being handed to them. Give me back my son, Adam. He is far more intelligent than any of these anime characters. They all drank stupid juice.
Yeah, I definitely agree. I'm just watching to see where this ends up at this point (and also to shitpost lmfao)
Every Thursday me and two of my friends (one has read most of the manga, the other is anime-only) watch it on discord, or talk about it on discord and man... my friend who is anime-only is like "yeah, this sucks ass, I need to just read the manga" and is confused with stuff. We just kinda clown on it at this point. It's basically just someone's shitty canon-divergence AU playing out on screen.
Random assortment of thoughts:
I can sympathize with Manga Norman. I can understand WHY he is doing what he is doing and what his motivations are. It is, quite frankly, completely disgusting what he wants to do, but I can get why he wants to do it and I don't hate him. He is a very complex character, trying to make sense/live in a very complex world. Anime Norman on the other hand? I feel nothing for him like, I just Do Not Care. Norman is, imo, the best written out of the three mains and my personal favorite, but they've completely squandered his writing... ugh
I've held strong by this belief: If you are going to adapt TPN, there are 3 major characters who you *cannot afford* to mess up. Isabella, Yuugo, and Norman. (I'd even throw Peter and Leuvis in there as well) Well, Yuugo's gone and if they *do* decide to have him show up his character is completely different (i.e. the out of character note he leaves at the bunker). Norman has next to none of the depth he had in the OG story (I can't remember, but didn't Cislo or Barbara say that he saved the kids at the mass production plants? Uhhh, what?!?!). And Isabella is being built up as the big villain YET AGAIN which does not align with her development at all (though I do think they will still pull a bait-n-switch on us like in the manga) so there goes that.
Peter and Leuvis oh where do I start? Leuvis is my personal favorite villain of the story for multiple reasons (I think I will write an entire post on him sometime) and Peter is the epitome of everything Emma stands against and is essentially the Big Bad. Leuvis is gone, Peter is in the op but has had ZERO screentime thus far, not even any fucking hints to his existence at all. There's 5 eps left so he has to show up at some point, right? He's in the opening soooo... where the hell is he? How are viewers supposed to give a shit about him? He's pretty fucking dangerous and has been influencing the plot since day ONE, but whatever I guess??
Anime Ray is the only one I vibe with rn, and even then he's meh. Anime Emma is on thin fucking ice, and Anime Norman can be fed to the Dropkick Murpheys for all I care.
Infodumps. My god. These bitches be talking like they're reading a wikipedia article.
The literal butchering of Emma's character. Goldy Pond would have been the ep 19 of Demon Slayer of this anime season if they had adapted it, and I stand by that. The amount of HYPE on social media that would have happened after Emma pulls herself from the brink of death to challenge Leuvis would have been insane. There are so few strong, well-written female shonen protagonists... damn shame that the brilliance of Emma is relegated solely to s1 and the pages of the manga, she is a husk of herself in this season.
No character growth. Trio is separate for 90 chapters. That's literally half of the entire manga. There's no feeling of separation, no feeling that they are wildly different people now. These three have spent their entire lives together. Ray and Emma have to struggle without Norman, and Norman has to struggle without Ray and Emma. It's so important. This dynamic *literally* dictates how they grow as characters. When they are finally reunited it is so emotional and amazing, but also a bit unsettling because Norman is *clearly* not the Norman we remember... but in the anime we don't feel any of the impact of those 2 years.
Yuugo and Lucas. Contrasting the love Isabella gave to the kids with the love these two dads give to them. Adds a lot to the story. RIP.
Also RIP Adam and the Gold Pond kids... jeeeeeze there was so much potential.
Anime sacrifices extremely hard-hitting and emotional moments for cheap shock factor (namely, bunker raid and the trio reunion)
Speaking of the trio reunion, why the FUCK does Anime Norman not give a shit about Anime Ray? Hes completely ignored, and it's not like in the manga where he came in later no, like... he's there, seeing Norman at the same time Emma is. There's like, a solid minute and a half of Norman and Emma crying over each other while Ray just stands in the back like 🧍‍♂️and then is added as an afterthought. Emma's like "oh yeah, I brought Ray" GIRL??? And Norman is like "oh hey Ray.." BITCH?!?! YOU KNEW HE WAS GONNA FUCKING KILL HIMSELF AND HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING WHETHER OR NOT EMMA WAS ABLE TO STOP HIS SUICIDE, FOR 2 YEARS??? AND YOU JUST IGNORE HIM?? AND THEN ACKOWLEDGE HIM AS AN AFTERTHOUGHT?? I--okay!
Manga Norman: Emma and Ray are my best friends and I love them more than anything in the world, but Ray understands me in a way that Emma doesn't. They are both important to me.
Anime Norman: who the fuck is ray
Zero suspense. Minimal world building. Very minimal lore building. No mystery.
What the fuck is up with the William Minerva part of the plot like... uh, that's pretty important??? He's been completely dropped and there's zero reason for us to connect him with Norman. Like, he had his phone call in ep 3 and then any mention of him dipped. Disappointing as hell. Don't get to see the parallels drawn between him and Norman. Man...
Yeah idk what else... am I being too critical? Honestly, not sure. I think my criticisms and frustrations are well-founded, but I am definitely basing most of this off of the anime's failure to adapt the manga. Though I suppose, looking from an anime-only standpoint who has no idea just how much of the story has been axed, it might be okay or it might not be? Or it might depend on the person... in any case, I cant fathom how anyone could look at this season and go "Yeah, this feels like the same show as season 1!"

(this will be a VERY long post)
✨Time to criticize Yashahime ✨
First of all:
I will only criticize the writing aspects, so don't expect me to say anything about the animation since I barely know about that stuff
Because of this I also won't address anything of Sessrin or the discontent because of Moroha's and Inukag's separation because that's more of a fandom thing
And this is only the opinion of someone who isn't any kind of expert in writing or something like that
Uff, Yashahime finally ended and it was... Interesting.
So let's criticize it :)
So first of all let's tell the ✨the good things✨ because even if there are more bad things, infact there are very little good things, we have to give credit where credit is due.
Good things :D
The girls' originality
Something that I saw other fandoms have complained in their own "next generation sequel" (like in boruto) is that the kids were just a "copy paste" of their parents, and when Yashahime was just announced I saw the same concerns (specially with Setsuna and Moroha)
But in the end I think any of them ended up being just female Inuyasha/Sesshomaru, and all were able to be their very own character.
Half of their relationship
Ok, I'm specifying that only half because sometimes the twins would be a little unfair with Moroha, but then be her "new family"(?), But then they proceed to leave her behind, and then AGAIN being like bff's so there is no consistency.
But in the first episodes Sunrise got it right and we could see a pretty good and functional dynamic between the 3 that was consistent and made sense.
Each one had a defined role that worked, Towa was the "moral" one, Setsuna the "cold" one who took more drastic decisions, and Moroha intervenes mediating both and brings information that may help please both sides. (At the beginning)
Moroha
I'M SORRY, I'm sorry, I can't help it, it's just that she has so much charm and is so lovely and innocent. And you can totally ignore the fact that she's InuKag's daughter and still love her just because her personality brings so much to the story.
It's such a shame that they didn't really use all her potential but I'll get to that later.
Aaaand that's all ;-;
Now let's go to the interesting part...
The bad things D:<
Towa
This point I actually want to explore it further in another post, because there's a lot I want to talk about her to specify what exactly went wrong and how I would have managed her but here I will leave it simple.
Towa in any way possible wasn't properly used, and even if almost every character suffered of bad writing, she was the most affected one.
She honestly isn't interesting, everything that could have been done with her according to her backstory was completely wasted, because even if she was the one with the least tragic story, there was a lot to work with (I mean, just look at Kagome's case and still most of the fandom loved her)
She kept changing her personality and ideology according to what the story needed, and at some point her only trait was "Setsuna's protective older sister"
And don't even get me started with how overpowered she is without any kind of training (I get she knows how to fight with bullies, but clearly that isn't the same as fighting demons with demonic energy)
Phasing
When people argue if the phasing is too fast or too slow, I think it's both, but in the worst way possible.
They waste so much time in scenes that aren't really that necessary or could be much shorter, and rush at incredible speed things that should actually be worked slowly and carefully.
The fights
I only can remember two or three that I actually liked because most of them were just exchanging hits with the sword, sometimes an special movement and that's all.
Half of the battles didn't affect the story in the least, and the worst of all was how the villains were defeated wether because they were lame as fuck or because Towa's random power up appeared out of nowhere.
Meanwhile in Inuyasha even if we didn't always had the best fights of all anime, we did get some pretty interesting choreographies and some villains really had an impact on the characters in a natural way.
Talking about villains...
Naraku is laughing from his grave
You know? I'm not a Naraku fan, but he was a bastard that you loved to hate, he maybe wasn't the most powerful character when we talk purely about his strength, but he was intelligent as fuck, he was always one step ahead, he had some pretty interesting abilities and plans, with him he brought other AMAZING villains (or anti heroes) like Kagura, Kanna, Hakudoshi, the weird baby, or even Sesshomaru back at the beginning, and the best part was how he was written being a complex character (like when he struggled with his human feelings for Kikyo)
But on the other hand we have Kirinmaru, Zero, the four losers (I mean, perils), probably my boy Riku, and who knows what other random villains.
First of all, ONLY RIKU would be a good villain (maybe I should have put him in the good things ;-;)
But then we have the four perils who, out of them the only one who seemed to know what he was doing was the green guy that did weird witchcraft, but the rest? They are just randomly bothering people because they have nothing else to do and honestly they didn't seem to be that powerful.
I'm not sure about Kirinmaru because I don't see anything clear with him, I mean, I'm not even sure if he's a villain.
And Zero... *Sighs*
I don't get what the hell she's trying to do. Anything that she does makes sense. She's just alive because of Riku, without him she can't do anything.
Like seriously, half of the world was after Naraku's ass, even his allies, and still he could get away with it. Zero can't even get her army in order to take care of 3 fourteen years old girls.
(Sorry for letting myself go with this one ;-;)
Not using half of your characters
I guess the best example is Moroha because even with an interesting backstory, mysterious abilities, and most of the fandom's love, they just used her as comedic relief for most of the series instead of developing her character or explaining better her spiritual abilities or Beniyasha.
And not only her, Hisui and the rest of the demon slayers were more of a background character. For example, in Hisui's episode we should have gotten to meet him, Gyokuto, and Kin'u better, but they preferred to focus in the twins AGAIN and not work the MirSan family. (Guys, first season and I still can't tell Hisui's definitive personality)
Same Takechiyo, Kyubi, Yawaragi, Kohaku, the villains, some past characters, sometimes even Riku. Basically every character who isn't Towa and Setsuna are walking tools for them to use whenever the plot needs it.
And no, I'm not saying "The twins shouldn't be the protagonists", a I'm saying "SIDE CHARACTERS AREN'T JUST PLOT DEVICES, THEY ALSO DESERVE DEFINED PERSONALITIES AND CHARACTER ARCS TO MAKE THE WORLD RICHER, OTHERWISE IT FEELS LIKE THE WORLD REVOLVES AROUND THE PROTAGONISTS"
Inuyasha knew when and how to dedicate an episode to a character, Yashahime doesn't.
Lack of character development
No one, except for Setsuna who is learning to rely and trust more on the girls, has any kind of development (sorry Moroha (・ัω・ั)).
I see Towa exactly the same as in the first episode, and because of how they've barely put attention to Moroha, she has barely shown any growth as well.
And I guess Hisui learnt how to trust his dad, but again, I can barely tell which is his personality, and the rest are background characters.
Powers / Abilities / Weapons
Here they neither explained ANY of the characters abilities properly or made them more powerful making sense.
Towa, just randomly learnt how to concentrate her demon energy in a sword and just keeps getting new abilities without training, and any of them seem to have any effect on Towa like (idk) having the risk of running out of energy. And at the beginning I liked how she struggled with her other demon abilities like smelling things but then they just forgot ;-;.
Setsuna's stick just produces wind and lasers without explanation, and her sealed power doesn't really work naturally.
And Moroha... EXPLAIN BENIYASHA BETTER. SAME FOR THE SPIRITUAL POWERS, that was supposed to be impossible!!! And again they recognized that at the very beginning, why did they forgot about it later???
There barely has been any "world" expansion
Something that Inuyasha never really got into was the "demon society", because with the exception of some tribes they never mentioned anything related to that BUT...
With that thing of Inu no Taisho and Kirinmaru apparently being "royalty" I thought they would talk more about that "Demon hierarchy" or if "Setsuna's courage trial" was something like a demon tradition (damn, that was honestly pretty interesting) but NO.
The topic has been barely mentioned and let's keep saying over and over again what the audience already knows for 24 episodes.
Weird Exposition
The way they threw information at us was pretty weird, like it didn't feel "organic" because instead of the girls getting into whatever situation where "x" character tells them certain things because it is related to what is happening, again, they chose pretty weird ways.
There were like 1,000 different options to tell us what happened to InuKag and Sesshomaru and all of them, like the girls talking with Myoga or Kaede...
BUT THEY CHOSE TO BREAK THE FOURTH WALL.
Comedy
I'm not saying Moroha is a bad comedy relief, she actually came with many good jokes, but you can't leave only ONE character to take care of the comedy. Towa and Setsuna also came with some good funny moments, so why would they only reduce the comedy to Moroha????
(In Inuyasha EVERYONE gave amazing comedy moments, even Sesshomaru)
And the worst part is that they only use the same joke with her most of the time! Losing her bounty and being poor.
"Atmosphere" (?)
I Promise I don't want to sound pretentious with this one ;-;
Those scenes where we were supposed to feel sad because of someone's death, intimidated because Kirinmaru appeared or excited because of a fight didn't work out.
I don't know exactly why but I think that it is because of a combination of lazy animation, bad selection of soundtrack, weird dialogue and the characters' lack of reaction.
So now that I think I've said all the points that they got wrong, let's get to the conclusion.
They stablished side plots or mysteries everywhere and didn't really do anything with them.
The girls never advanced with the story, they just kept running in circles around the same point during 24 episodes. (And no matter how long or short a story is, you can NEVER do that or you'll lose the audience's attention).
And with or without a second season, they made terrible mistakes that won't be able to be fixed. If it is only one season, TERRIBLE, they left way to much things uncovered, and if they plan another season, ALSO TERRIBLE, they rushed essential things and if they work them again they'll repeat one of their biggest mistakes.
And honestly I really tried to love this sequel, almost up to episode 12 I really tried to appreciate the small good things but they just kept slapping me with disappointment every single episode, and if they release a second season, I'll watch it but this time only expecting the worst of it.
In resume, yo can only truly enjoy Yashahime if you completely turn off your critical sense, and expecting nothing from it, otherwise you'll only keep asking yourself "why?"

Hot Spring.
[Kimetsu no Yaiba/Demon Slayer]
[Hashiras x Reader]
Author’s note:
No younger demon slayers will be on scene when nudity is exposed.
Warning:
- a bit of nudity, swearing, family love ONLY, NO incest
[Name] had no sense of reality. It was more in a way where she really couldn’t read any sort of situation and did what she wanted. Literally. Not only was she known as the Fog Hashira, she was known for being so blunt in a way that it would always catch everyone off guard. Even the Stone Hashira, Gyomei, would blink at the random stuff she had done. She was sort of like Muichiro in a way. However, she was a lot more interactive and cheerful compared to the Hashira who always had his head in the clouds.
It was one of the beginning of the summer when the all of the Hashiras has gathered at [Name]’s estate. Servants of the [Name]’s estates were scattered, out and about, doing chores and cleaning around the estate. They were all very nervous and gossiped how all the Hashiras were gathered in [Name]’s home.
“Is [Name] in some sort of love cloud?”
“Maybe they’re hosting some sort of special meeting! This never happens!”
The servants giggled amongst each other.
One of the doors slid open with a loud bam as a certain Wind Pillar poked his head out. Sanemi snarled.
“You annoying shits! Scram!”
The servants got scared and ran off, deeper into the estate to do more cleaning.
Sanemi watched as they disappeared around the corners of the halls and heavily sighed before shutting the door. He turned to look at [Name], a look of annoyance residing in his face. “Why did you invite everyone to come over? I thought it would be just me and Genya tonight.”
[Name] noticed how Sanemi sounded a bit bitter when saying youngest Shinazugawa’s last name. She shrugged her shoulders.
“Felt like it. Plus, I wanted everyone to try the new hot spring that was just built in!” As she skipped off down the hall, she could hear a soft slap as she knew that Sanemi had just face-palmed in annoyance.
She was close to Sanemi and Genya. She didn’t mind if they crashed at her place occasionally.
She lead Sanemi into one of the rooms where all the other Hashiras resided in. When she slid the bamboo screened door open, the chattering within the room ceased. All the Hashiras were sitting or standing in smaller groups, talking amongst eachother.
In the air, steam obscured a bit of her vision but it was nothing unusual to her. Sanemi felt congested because of all the sudden hot hair for a moment. As [Name] walked in, she noticed familiar younger slayers huddled in one corner.
Her eyes sparkled and squealed as she ran to the corner, immediately driving herself into three boys for a tight hug. “I’m so excited to meet you! I couldn’t be there when Giyuu and Shinobu brought you in but now you’re here!” She scooped all three boys up into her arms.
The boy in the checkered haori kimono started to choke and flail.
“Ack— Miss! I can’t breathe!-“
The boy with the obnoxiously blonde hair immediately went flustered and just about passed out in her arms. The other wearing the strange beast mask started to immediately try and wiggle out of her arms.
“Crazy bitch! I’ll rip off your ass and feed it to the birds, let me go!”
[Name] didn’t say anything as she gave another squeeze, nearly suffocating the poor children.
“[Name], [Name]!” The Fog Hashira turned to see her dear friend, Mitsuri walking up to them,”It looks so cute how you’re hugging them but I think you’re choking them out!”
[Name] looked down at the flustered boys. Then, dropped them.
“Hehe, oops.”
The door opened and another slayer walked in.
With a gruff voice, he looked up and muttered an apology that he was late. However, he couldn’t even finish his statement when [Name] rushed to him and scooped him up in the air.
“Hi, Genya!”
Genya’s face immediately turned dark red,”H-Hey! Put me down!”
•••••••••
[Name] led all the demon slayers to another room. It was next to the hotspring. However, to get to the hotspring, there were two doors on either side of the room. One for women and the other for men.
Tanjirou, the scarred boy introduced himself and his sister who was with Shinobu earlier, walked in with an awed look on his face. He looked a bit flustered, however, that was just from the warm heat circulating in the room.
However, something clicked in his head,”Miss [Name]? Isn’t it a little strange for men and women to bathe together?”
[Name] smiled at him,”Don’t worry about it. There’s a large wall that separates us so you don’t need to worry.”
She could have sworn she heard one of his friend click his tongue.
Kyōjurō came up to Tanjirou, placing his hands on the younger demon slayer’s shoulders. “My boy, even if a man here dare to peep at woman, we should definitely slice their eyes out-“ Just for a second, his eyes flickered down towards the Fog Hashira and fell silent.
“Hah? Rengoku, what’s gotten into you?” Uzui came up to his flame-headed friend and peered over his shoulder just to see [Name]’s haori on the floor and the woman unbuttoning her own uniform. His jaw dropped. “O-oi!”
Someone pushed passed them and barreled themselves into [Name]. [Name] yelped as she felt something wrapped around her body and she was picked up. Sanemi had wrapped his white haori around her and proceeded to pick her up and throw her into the woman’s room.
“For fuck’s sake woman, stop doing that when there are other men around!”
“I think I will be praying instead.” Gyomei insisted. Thus, he had headed to a different area.
•••••••••
“You are such a cutie!” [Name] cooed as she rubbed Nezuko’s head. Nezuko sat upon a rock, only to occasionally dip her feet in from time to time and still wore her kimono. It was just her and [Name] when they first entered their side of the hot spring.
Nezuko expected [Name] to be more silent, or at least glaring at her. However, the Fog Hashira was a lot more welcoming and kind. It reminded Nezuko how she would treat her little siblings.
[Name] knelt in front of Nezuko with a small smile on her lips,”Between you and me,” She leaned in a bit closer and in a small whisper she murmured,”My little brother is like you!”
Nezuko stared in awe and her only response was a muffled sound and a nod.
They turned their heads towards the door when it slid open. [Name] looked back at Nezuko and winked at her, before going to sit in the deeper area of the hot spring.
“This is perfect!” [Name] sighed contently as she sunk deep into the hot waters of the spring. Shinobu came next to [Name] and sat in the water beside her.
“This is a really nice bath you have here and to share with us, [Name].”
Mitsuri jumped into the waters, wadding her way towards the other two women.
“This is so cute! Imagine just being here and loving with some big handsome man!” The Love Hashira cooed and situated herself near them,”[Name], [Name]! This would be so romantic if it was just you and Sanemi!”
[Name] arched an eyebrow and snorted in disgust,”Sanemi? No way.”
The others got taken aback,”We could have sworn you two had something going on since you’re so close.”
[Name] paused for a moment and looked at them,”That’d be freaky, though.”
Shinobu and Mitsuri looked at each other.
•••••••••
The other side of the wall separating the hot spring was a bit more of a ruckus. Tanjirou had to sit aside because the water was a bit too much for him. Inosuke decided to sit in the waters and prove that he would be able to be in there longer than any other Hashira. Zenitsu was being next to Tanjirou. He was oddly being silent, however, Tanijrou was more in his own thoughts.
He was worried about Nezuko being alone on the other side. He hoped that she was okay.
Tanjirou took a moment to look what was around him. Muichiro was well-content sitting aside near the spring just to bask in the hot steam. Rengoku and Uzui were on the other side chatting loudly. He didn’t even remember Obanai walking in when he spotted the Snake Hashira seat himself near a tree. Then, he glanced at Sanemi. He noticed how he was submerged in the water, but wasn’t looking relaxed at all. He noticed how observant Sanemi was being. He was eyeing the wall thet split up the men and women, then started to eye the other men.
There was a point where he just glared at Giyuu for a long time. Giyuu didn’t even noticed as he sat quietly near the the Flame Hashira.
Sanemi and Tanijirou made eye-contact for a brief moment. When Tanjirou smiled, all he got in return was a sneer. Genya walked in squat himself next to Tanjirou.
“Tanjirou, you good? You look like you’re about to pass out.”
“Eh?” Before he knew it, Tanjirou had fallen over and nearly passed out because of the heat. Inosuke and Zenitsu dragged went with him. Muichiro heard the ruckus and decided to follow.
Now, it was just the five older male Hashiras in the spring.
“Sanemi, don’t you have a thing going on with [Name]?” Uzui asked as he walked over to the Wind Hashira.
“No.” Sanemi was slowly getting more annoyed.
“Come on. It’s so obvious.” Rengoku piped in, sliding next to Sanemi and throwing an arm over the Wind Pillar’s shoulders.
“Get the fuck off—“
Obanai had made a choking sound when he had looked up and was very startled. Giyuu had snapped his head to look the other direction. His expression was still monotone, however, the look of embarrassment were hinted in his eyes.
“Sanemi!”
Sanemi and the other two paused. They looked up to see [Name]’s head poking from the top of the wall that was suppose to separate them too.
“What should we for dinner?”
From the other side of the wall, Mitsuri was panicking and Shinobu was laughing.
“[Name], get down, you’re going to get hurt!”
“You’re so bold, [Name]!”
Sanemi’s jaw dropped. For once, the hard-ass shell of his persona cracked and he felt his entire face go red.
Thank the gods that the steam emitting from the hot spring had covered some of her ‘things.’
[Name] just seemed to look unbothered as she continued talking,”Nezuko left to see if Tanjirou was okay. I think the kids are going to be hungry soon. Should we make ohagi or something?”
Silence.
Snapping out of shock, Sanemi immediately dunked Rengoku’s head and poked Uzui in the eyes.
Thus, more chaos had begun.
Obanai had already walked out of the hot spring. His face was covered with his typical bandages, so it was hard to see it looked like. Giyuu was still facing the other direction.
However, Sanemi still attacked him.
“Hey, Sanemi, you’re going to kill him!”
“[NAME], STOP CLIMBING OVER HERE AND STAY THERE.”
“[Name]! Your body is very flamboyant!” Uzui stared in awe.
It wouldn’t be so bad if he could get another wife. Suddenly, he felt two fingers poke into his eyes,”My eyes!”
“Give me your eyes, you piece of shit!” Sanemi yelled, as he was the one that did it.
“This is my house, Sanemi!”
“THEN PUT ON SOME CLOTHES. ANY FUCK WHO LOOKS AT MY SISTER, I WILL POKE OUT YOUR EYES.”
The hassle and the wrestling among the men stopped.
“Hah?—“ Uzui, who was holding Rengoku in the air, dropped the poor man back into the water. He waded his way towards the Shinazugawa.
Rengoku clawed to sit up, sputtering water. He immediately brushed his wet bangs from his face and slicked it on top of his head. A faint groan slipped passed his lips as he felt the sudden gush of water up his nose. He pinched the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes tight for a moment.
“This entire time [Name] was your sister? Like hell that’s flamboyant! No one knew this entire time!” Uzui reached forward to grab Sanemi’s shoulders and shook him.
This just pissed Sanemi even more. A vein of his forehead bulged. With another yell, he shoved the Sound Hashira off of him,”None of you fuckers need to know about my personal life!”
Giyuu took a moment to stare at Sanemi’s face, then [Name]’s face. Obanai had done the same.
“I don’t see it.” Giyuu murmured, casting a brief glance at Obanai.
“Me neither. It’s like saying a gorilla and a hummingbird were related.” Obanai added.
“I’m going to murder each and every single one of you!”

Hum, also I don’t even know where this idea even came from. Don’t come for me if something is wrong please-
Do I think Kyoujuro would ever cheat? No. But for now let’s just pretend.
▬▬▬
Warning(s): Cheating, angst, some spoilers, mentions of postpartum depression, i lowkey hate this one
Tumblr media
Kyoujuro Rengoku x Reader : "Just leave. I don't want to see you right now." [Angst Prompt #2]
Kyoujuro should have known. Like always, his actions always did come back to bite him in the ass.
It started out as an accident. Kyoujuro had never had any interest in the female Slayers before. There was a lot of them, he knew, but there was nothing particularly special about them.
His wife, his sweet and gentle wife, who had loved and cared for him when he felt that nobody else did, had lost the baby.
He knew that he couldn’t blame her for that. From day one, Shinobu had said that the pregnancy was going to be difficult, if not deadly. Still, they decided to go through with it, and Kyoujuro had felt nothing but intense love and excitement whenever his wife agreed to that. He knew she was scared. She had every right to be, but they were going to be parents! Certainly nothing could go wrong with that.
When he received a letter from Shinobu, six months into the pregnancy, he knew something was wrong. Very wrong.
(Y/n) sounded like she was in such pain, but they wouldn’t let him in despite him asking a million times. The delivery was rough, and long, taking nearly all day and all night to complete. Still, Kyoujuro didn’t move from where he waited in the hallway, going as far as to fall asleep against the wall so that they wouldn’t tell him to leave again.
His wife’s shouts quieted, but he heard no baby in their stead. Fifteen minutes later, Shinobu walked out to break the news to him.
It was a premature birth, he knew that much. (Y/n)’s body simply wasn’t ready to handle the complications that pregnancy could entail, and she went into labour early. The strain was too much for the baby, who passed soon after being born.
“She’s blaming herself for this,” Shinobu told him, “Please try and comfort her. Her body is very weak, and she cannot go through this all on her own. It would be unhealthy.”
It took three days for him to convince his wife to even sit up in bed. It took a week for her to stand. God knows how long it had been since she had smiled at him at all. Her mood was getting worse, and he was losing his patience with her. Still, every sharp look from Shinobu or her tsuguko reminded him of one thing: This was not her fault.
Kyoujuro would have liked to say that he did try his best to comfort her, but looking back on it, they were weak attempts. Tomioka could have done better. Scratch that. Tomioka did do better than him.
“Why do you think he doesn’t care about you?” He heard Giyuu say, sitting out on the engawa with his wife one morning. Kyoujuro didn’t usually eavesdrop, but this time, he felt a need to do just that.
“Kyoujuro has always wanted children,” (Y/n) told him, sounding so quiet and frail that it made his heart crack, “I feel like a useless wife for not being able to do that for him. It’s my fault. I-”
“You should have been more careful? You could never have known what was going to happen. It was your first pregnancy.”
Despite never talking to Tomioka, Kyoujuro was partially surprised that he seemed to know so much. Or, he was very good at pretending that he knew so much.
“Don’t blame yourself for things like that,” Giyuu muttered, “It will only make forgiving yourself even harder.”
The next day, when Kyoujuro came to visit, he was pleasantly surprised that (Y/n) agreed to the walk he offered, rather than just turning away and sighing again.
For a while, it seemed that she was getting better. Much better. She was eating, and going back to being his cute, gentle wife, who would do absolutely nothing to harm anyone at all. She was amazing to him, being so strong after such a tragic accident.
But she still wasn’t the same. Touches didn’t linger the way they used to. Sweet words that used to make her smile would win him a tight grin, before she suddenly found herself tired. She trusted him with little, even if it was menial things, such as household chores or writing. She learned how to do it herself. Even her warmth was different, despite the fact that she still preferred to bury her face into Kyoujuro’s chest when they slept. Her body froze him solid, as if fear was taking over his veins.
At three months, he became weak to the affections of other Demon Slayer women.
He would have liked to say that it was an accident, but it wasn’t. He didn’t even know the girl who had warmed his bed that fateful night, but he didn’t care. Anything to get rid of the chill his wife left on his person. It was only one night, but it was the one night that would ruin his life for good. He spent another three months keeping the affair secret, with (Y/n) blissfully unaware of her husband’s virtue slipping through his own fingers. Three months was a long time, but it was not long enough to scrub the guilt from Kyoujuro’s mind, as it still ate at him constantly.
“I’m home!” Kyoujuro called, slipping his sandals off as he entered the house. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, but the tense air sparked anxiety inside of Kyoujuro. There was never a quiet moment in their home, seeing as (Y/n) spent most of her time inside. It was strange for the estate to be void of silence, save for the sound of Senjuro moving around inside his room.
Stepping our to the courtyard of the estate, Kyoujuro was met with the soft smell of green tea, obviously brewed a while before he came home. It led him to (Y/n), his wife sitting calmly out on the engawa, a book settled into her lap. He hadn’t seen her read much before, which should have been a warning sign itself. But, as always, Kyoujuro was an optimist. He was looking on the bright side, trying not to think about what might happen if (Y/n) found out something incriminating about him.
When he noticed that she didn’t have her wedding ring on, it should have tipped him off. But it didn’t. After the failed delivery, (Y/n) was prone to losing or misplacing things, even with their house as clean as it was. Senjuro, being the good younger brother that he was, always managed to find it in a matter of minutes. Perhaps she had simply dropped it somewhere and not noticed yet. They would look for it in a while.
“Kyoujuro,” she called, sweet voice embedded with something unfamiliar, “come sit. We have to talk.”
For once in his life, Kyoujuro felt a sinking sense of fear, as he sat beside his wife calmly. She looked to be at peace, sipping her tea silently as he stayed in her company. He wished that she would say something, anything, that would get his mind out of the gutter. Something stupid or random that would bring his thoughts away from ever fickle thing he had done.
“Let’s talk,” (Y/n) finally said, turning to Kyoujuro expectantly. Rather than say anything, Kyoujuro kept silent, hoping that she couldn’t sense his nerves.
Despite her calm nature, there was an obvious tension in (Y/n)’s heart. She had gone months without knowing of the situation. Kyoujuro had lied to her countless times, yet she still felt nothing but love for the man. However, this love was tainted by distrust and secrets. Secrets that had been kept from her for far too long.
“How long have you been seeing that girl?” she asked him, swishing her tea around in the cup. It had long since gone cold, but that didn’t stop her from drinking it. She had always liked her green tea to be cold, anyways. Always let it sit for half an hour before drinking it, because hot drinks were never her favourite.
“What do you mean?”
“The girl that you had an affair with. How long have you been seeing her?”
Kyoujuro simply couldn’t believe it. How had she found out? Nobody told her, certainly. Nobody else but him and the girl knew, so how did she know? Still, if she knew something, it would be useless to lie. It would be stupid to lie. He couldn’t do that.
“It was only once,” he mumbled, as if the fact that he still had the guts to cheat on her once would help his case at all. His wife scoffed, standing up to pace on the engawa. She was irritated, and angry, but what could he do? She didn’t deserve the king of treatment she was given.
“I married you because I loved you,” (Y/n) said quietly, “I had your baby because I loved you. Maybe it was all just me. Maybe that wasn’t enough to keep you from doing something so awful.”
Cringing at the fact, Kyoujuro was quick to grab her hand. “(Y/n), love, please listen to me. We can fix this, can’t we?”
“No,” she replied simply, wrenching her arm from his grip, “The fact is; you had the gall to cheat on me and act as if it had never happened. That’s bad enough as it is.”
“(Y/n), we can work this out. Please! I love you!”
“You stopped loving me the minute that you felt you had the right to invite another girl into our bed!” (Y/n) cried, gesticulating wildly. Her heart hammered painfully, but she would not allow herself to cry in front of him. No. He didn’t deserve such leisure treatment.
“I’m sorry...”
The woman groaned, slapping a hand to her face. “Just leave,” she told him, “I don’t want to see you right now. Or ever again, in fact. My stuff is already gone, and someone’s picking me up later-”
“You’re leaving.”
“Don’t even think of breathing in my direction while I’m still here,” the woman seethed, brushing her loose hairs from her face, “We’re done, Rengoku, let’s be adults and move on.”

i’m rewriting yashahime in my head (i’m only half serious, oh also, i’m not a writer)
-i’m not keen on the idea of sessh procreating for some reason it feels ooc lmao (hello aroace king), but i think towa and setsuna are cute. it seemed like there was naraku symbolism & kagura fit nature vs. nurture, so for the sake of keeping the twins, somehow kagura is reborn, and we’re gonna say she is a half-demon. the twins are hers and sessh’s. they’re actually 3 quarter demons which i think is a cool contrast to their cousin moroha
-rin is the best older sister ever, and the apple of her father’s eye! i’m trying to think of what would be a good “profession” for her...but honestly i just want her to be happy and carefree lol. her childhood was very stressful
-i like the twins’ designs, but i haven’t thought about them much since i was never a huge sessh fan. towa is for sure nonbinary. personally, i wish their discomfort with gender norms was explored more in “canon.” setsuna, i have to think about more since they basically wrote her like a 14 yr old, less mean version of sessh, but i would wanna flesh her character out more. i think it would be cool if they were actually hisui’s age (and older than moroha by maybe a year or two?)
-once i had this thought that it would be cool if there was a time period where mixed human/demon ancestry was more common (maybe humans like sango and miroku have distant demon relatives like a great grandparent or something. can we explore this???), and something happened and it became taboo which is why inuyasha went through what he did, etc. so, there’s still discrimination over it, but things are getting better however towa and setsuna struggle because of who their “grandpa” (naraku) was. i think inuyasha (cause half-demon uncle) and rin (human who understands humans can be just as cruel) would play a big role in helping them accept that they’re not to be ashamed of their ancestry (side plot? maybe this is a side story apart from something else i talk about later in the post.)
-kohaku? he has no scar and his freckles are back! that boy has suffered enough. he still adores his sister & he is the best uncle ever! kohaku has very soft vibes lol for some reason i feel like he wouldn’t really want to slay demons after everything he went through. can we just let him rest? maybe he would become a healer of some sort. kohaku maintains a close relationship with sessh, kagura, and rin! lives with miroku and sango. maybe he is closest to his niece gyokuto?
-kingyo are BOTH alive and well. they’re both lesbians. gyokuto is spiritual like her father, and k’inu does her own thing. maybe she inherited his shady/flirty behavior? i feel like i saw a similar hc, and i think that’s cute. she’s off charming girls and that’s why we haven’t seen her
-hisui takes after his mom. he’s a sweet boy but he’s also serious. his mom trained him! he also learned some stuff from his uncle kohaku!
-miroku and sango are bicons. why is this relevant? cause i said so. i feel like it fits their characters idk why. they’re wholesome and happy because sango deserves the world. miroku is still flirty but only w/ sango because he’s matured and loves his fuckin wife. who wouldn’t? she’s amazing. also, we’re done with stupid misogynistic tropes! he never groped ppl. we are retconning that shit. kilala is also alive and well.
-miroku was the stay-at-home dad mostly while the kids were young & sango brought in some $ by doing slaying jobs, but i can see them switching it around and him bringing home $ from doing spiritual jobs. also, she is the head of the demon slayers because why wouldn’t she be? (she is the older sibling and unlike sunrise i’m aware that women can uh do something other than be wives, also kohaku’s done w/ that stuff remember?)
-they live next to kagome and inuyasha! kagome and inuyasha had their beautiful little babeeyyyy moroha who takes after both of them. inuyasha loves his child very much, and is constantly overwhelmed by a happiness he never thought he would have! she’s pretty much like a mini version of him, and kagome finds their relationship very endearing. she loves them very much! like in the show, moroha’s in touch with her spiritual powers. i think it would be cool if something happened one day while moroha was by the well, and she ended up in the present time. sota, mama higurashi and grandpa higurashi would cry and dote on her properly. maybe the plot is that she is stuck there, and inukag gotta go get her back? cue eventual kagome reunion with her family that is very emotional and makes me cry.
-random, but i think it would be cute if miroku, kagome, and kaede taught the kids who were into spirituality and healing, and sango and inuyasha taught the kids who were more into combat/slaying. i liked the inuyasha and sango friendship and the miroku and kagome friendship, so i think that’s something i would explore more
-moroha and hisui are best buds since they’re basically the cousins closest in age (i mean towa and setsuna too, but i don’t think sesshoumaru + his family would live as close to everyone)
-kingyo are definitely moroha’s older sister figures too
-i think kaede is strong and not kicking the bucket anytime soon, so she would basically be like the go-to babysitter while the kids are young & she is fine with that. when the kids were younger, inu gang still went on little day missions while kaede looked after the kiddies
-little shippo...i don’t know what to do about him. maybe we can age him at the same rate as a human would until he is done with adolescence...? so maybe he would be around rin’s age? i think his role would be like an uncle/older brother to the kids. he lives with everyone in the village, of course! also, his powers and magic have gotten more sophisticated. i need to think more about his character
-my version would be more slice of life instead of everyone being unhappy and there being another big bad that needs to be defeated...
-we can keep kirinmaru cause his design is cool. he can be toga’s spiteful ex because why not?
-maybe there is a prophecy but it came from an oracle (maybe zero can be the oracle instead of his sister) who saw a quarter demon with strong spiritual powers would defeat kirinmaru in like 3 yrs time or something (he has become too powerful and tyrannical?) we can keep the manipulation of space-time as a thing. maybe he somehow triggered the events that led to moroha being trapped in present day? (she’s the MC of my version)
-maybe a chunk of the story follows her life throughout a few years trapped in the present-era, but it explores the ways in which demons are still a part of present day japan (that way she does get raised by her parents, but also is apart from them for a period enough for it to feel like there’s a conflict (mirroring when kagome couldn’t get back to feudal japan)
-maybe we see some of our og gangs descendants (moroha enrolls in school or something)?
-kirinmaru keeps tabs on her through osamu kirin????? she figures it out idfk
-inuyasha finds out his dads ex is scared of his 14 yr old daughter? dude idk someone said toga kirinmaru exes and my brain has been like fixated on this ever since. it’s like not even relevant but i will make it relevant some how
-after tearful higurashi reunion, they all go back to feudal era and kick kirinmaru’s ass. prophecy is fulfilled (maybe well stays functioning and kagome can once again travel back and forth. i have to work out how this wouldn’t screw time up. maybe we can just close our eyes and ignore it? hehe)
-omg i almost forgot koga. idk what would happen w/ him....i feel like he would definitely be like moroha’s uncle! ginta and hakkaku are married.
-OH! kikyo? she is fucking resting in peace. please let her rest. she went through so much lol.

on one hand Demon Giyuu would likely just love reader who he knew before hand but just think of Giyuu just kind of went off into the wild afterwards and then latches onto you of all random people, think of how great it'd be, you suddenly have your own cuddly, hot demon that appeared in the woods, and he becomes travel size!
I LOVE THIS IDEA! it’s always been a convenience thing for him to already know his boo thang, but this is a hot take I’m all about.
Also I went off the rails and this request has been waiting for days so I won’t make you wait any longer
You love in a village close to where he was hunting a demon. You’d heard whoever killed it had fallen ill, but that was about it. Oh, and he had a very bright haori. You hoped he came to feel better, but you didn’t dwell on it since you had more pressing tasks.
Since the demon was gone you could work later now! You were cleaning up from your house chores outside a bit after the sun began to set. Some rustling in the bushes had your attention, but you thought it was more likely to be a fox than anything else.
When you looked into the forest around your home you found a pair of glowing blue eyes staring back at you. They were beautiful but they were also scary. How could eyes hold so much color in the dark?
You picked up an axe and walked closer but whatever it was shuffled away. Was it hurt? Against your better judgment you went looking in the forest to eventually find a man leaning against a tree. Something about him seemed off.
The haori! The one with all the colors! The was the demon slayer. You relaxed and placed the axe down, moving to see how he was doing since his head was tilted downward and his hair covered his face.
You helped him to your place. After all, he saved the village, it would be an honor to assist him. He really didn’t say anything, just huffing some deep breaths, but maybe he broke a rib or something along those lines. Maybe? No way to know.
A few days pass of him sleeping, only stirring but never fully waking up. Maybe this was beyond you? After a day of working you come into your house to check on him to see him awake.
You get him some water and a cloth to clean his face with. When you set everything in front of him you heard him grumble. Looking up you say those blue eyes that had been staring into your own the other night. Maybe it was something special with demon slayers?
He pushed you down and shot on top of you. This wasn’t okay, not even a little bit. In the moonlight you could see his teeth. Those were long fangs. NOT OKAY, NOT OKAY, DAMMIT.
The demon.. Demon slayer? Demon? The man dove for your neck and you knew you were gonna die. You began to cry, not wanting to die, at least not like this.
Something shifted in him and his harsh hands turned soft, his slitted pupils dilated, the claws places at his fingernails retracted, the veins along his body stopped pulsing. His tongue licked your cheek, taking away a fallen tear before blurring his head against your shoulder.
Dragging you to sit you was odd. He wouldn’t let go of his hold on you. What the fuck was going on? He whimpered, as if to say he was sorry, but no words ever left his lips
From that point forward he was attached to you. His hungers would lessen when looking at your face. In fact he would do anything you asked except go into the sunlight.
Even when the demon slayer corps came to retrieve him you refused. You stood between him and slayers that took down horrors you couldn’t imagine. All for him. It made him melt to think you would risk your life for him.
The slayers eventually took pity, seeing how tamed he was around you. They gave you a few directions, having come from another demon slayer with a sister in Giyuu’s position. In fact, he and his sister were the only ones you’d ever want to see. The demon slayer corps scared you.
Giyuu is super cute around Nezuko! When Tanjirou and Nezuko visit they are vastly more kind and explain everything to you. Nezuko may act like a child, but Giyuu reminds you of a cat. Tanjirou even suggests that maybe the type of demon he’s become.
He gives you what he knows about the previous water pillar, and it kind of hurts you to think he went from becoming a celebrated demon slayer to somewhat of a pet. Don’t worry though, smile boy tells you it’s far better than letting Giyuu be slayed, so rest assured that you aren’t hurting him.
When Nezuko shrinks down and crawls into her box to leave it made you wonder just what Giyuu could do. Can he shrink or grow? Do cat like things?
That answer came fast when a lowly demon tried to fuck with you one morning. You were up before the sun rose and while Giyuu was scared to go outside in fear of not hiding in time, he did watch out the window as you got ready for the day. He could smell something off, it didn’t smell like you or you home. In fact it smelled rancid.
A help of yours got your attention as he head crashing. You had started throwing things at what he found to be a demon. And he was MAD. VERY MAD. No one was allowed to hurt you.
He practically pounced on the other demon, knocking it out of reach of you before raising his hand with his claws lengthened. He slashed at the demon and you could have sworn you saw ribbons of water follow his hand.
Well fuck, being a water pillar got him that at least. You noticed the sun was starting to lighten the sky and pulled Giyuu from the now dying demon to hide on your home.
Later on he showed you he could get smaller, looking like a child, to growing to almost 8 feet tall. He was more than happy to use these forms for cuddling more than attacking.
Urokadaki totally was shocked that he could see Giyuu wrapped around you when you were sleeping. But the retired water pillar was a happy visit and Giyuu seemed to have some fond disposition for his master.
It was weird for all these demon slayers to be in your tiny ass house in your tiny ass village bugging you and your demon boy.
Giyuu becomes a total love bug tho as time passes. The more open and loving you are with him, after the fear passes, the more he wants to make you happy!
He wants to learn from you and will mirror some of your habits around the house. He’ll even try to talk with you! At first it doesn’t go so well but it’s a process! He does fall back to muffled noises and purring to express himself.
After a few years he’s practically fully functioning like a normal adult, just fully nocturnal. He never leaves your side and doesn’t even entertain the idea of leaving you or going back to the demon slayer corps.
You have to ask him why, because there’s so much more to life that getting by day-to-day with you. He gave you a hug and began purring just to have you melt into him.
“I love you, that’s why”

I’m sorry whoever this is *anon* this got deleted because my tumblr went wack ToT,,
Tumblr media
Giyuu x reader,
There was expected to be a big thunder storm today, you were casually in the warm bath tub, you had just finished all your missions for today and decided to relax till you heard the door from the other room open,
"Weird" you thought, you didn't know who would come to your house at these hours, 'maybe giyuu?' You questioned yourself, as expected the door to the bathroom opened and revealed to be the black haired male you suspected, Tomioka giyuu, your insecure, quiet, self- hate humored boyfriend of yours,
He wouldn't usually go home this early, he comes home usually a bit more late than this or maybe not go home at all, your eyes lit up and sparked just looking at his figure going towards you to bath together, you two hadnt bath together in a long time, this was a once in a life time opportunity, to relax with giyuu and have random talks, well, usually you talk the most but he just enjoys listening to your voice and your random stories,
"That's weird, your home a bit early, what's up" you said, trying to act cool and not too Desperate, “there wasn’t much today” he answered, he seemed like he was in a good mood, he got in the tub with you and just relaxed with you while you tell stories and gossips you heard around,
“Apparently sanemis dating rengoku but that doesn’t make any sense” you exclaimed, giyuus eyes got wide, I guess he was also shocked to hear that rengoku liked sanemi,
“No way” he said a bit flabbergasted, and you finally snorted *laughed* because his face was priceless, you enjoyed the moment together, you wished this could last longer and do this everyday, but we’re demon slayers, romance shouldn’t interfere with our job to slay demons,
“Would you like me to do your hair ?” He asked, straightforward but a bit shyly, you nod in approval and got the shampoo, this was somewhat a usual,
Every time you two bath together he would always wash your hair, because his hands are so soft yet strong, it relaxes your muscles and gets rid of stress, while giyuu enjoys doing this aswell because your hair tends to be very soft, and it also relaxes him after his harsh day, of getting bullied by the other pillars, giyuu thought it would be fun to shape your hair into a shark fin, and so he did and he said to look in the mirror, you were also curious so you went to look in the mirror to see his bob ross like art of the hair shark fin, you laughed and playfully punched him,
You two would also usually make a bubble bath and just let the water flow till it over flows to the floor,
This was a fun day, a relaxing day you two needed, before you go back to slaying the gamer demons,
You two finally finished off rinsing, and cleaning yourselves and cleaned up the little mess you two made, and wore on some clothes to then proceed to just cuddle to sleep,
Cuddling is also a once in a life time opportunity, so you must take it, these cuddle sessions don’t usually happen since, giyuu would often go home when you were asleep or not go home at all,
You two snuggled up under the covers as he carsed your hair, and tug the both of you in as you felt his body heat, and you also really like to listen to his heart beat, it’s unusually fast,
“Giyuu your heart is beating fast” you said out loud,
“So?” He replies with this blank look of his as he looked at you,
“Are you ok?” You asked, sometimes you were oftenlt naive or stupid, rapid heart beats aren’t something to be taken lightly since it can be a disease or something, lovE wasn’t in your mind at the moment since, your scared, so, he isn’t really surprised.
“No I’m not ok” he said, seriously, but he was just trying to tease you, but his teasing is oftenly bad, and can mean something else when he didn’t mean to, that’s what you get for living under a rock, tomato [me and my friend called him tomato because he as juicy as a tomato] gyu[牛肉/meat] [because his name reminds me of the Japanese work “gyu” which means meat, because he one fine ass meat, OK BACK TO THE STORY,,
Your body instantly stood up and checked him, from head to toe, just in case he had something wrong, in no way, is giyuu going to die before you, like, man is too hot to die, he isn’t ready to become grilled steak yet, meanwhile you panicking he was just there, looking at you, retracing his steps and words on what he said, but he didn’t really think and just held your hand and pulled you towards him, and engulfing you into a bear like hug, you, were just there confused, mind hazy, face as red as a strawberry, but your body just moved on it’s own and hugged him back,
Maybe he was ok, and he’s healthy and well, which you relieved a sigh, “I’m good” he said his voice getting raspy as he was very tired yet, a bit more energetic than he is, maybe it’s because he finally gets a chance to hug you and give you kisses until you sleep, pta wasn’t usually his style but, just once, maybe once, he’ll give lots of kisses and be dominant for once,
Nonetheless you two had a fantastic night, just hugging each other till you both drift off to sleep, and lucky the two of you, there were no missions tomorrow, and you can both enjoy your day off, together,

Tumblr media
The following days were spent in a mixture of more random small talk, light banter – Inuyasha was quick to discover that Kagome was fucking feisty when riled up, and likewise Kagome learned the half-demon had a wit that nearly matched her own – and some light weapons maintenance training. Kagome sometimes went with Inuyasha when he had to leave for some reason or another, whether it be searching for supplies, killing some nuisance deadies (helpfully stabbing some that Inuyasha felled), or inspecting the store for any security breaches or evidence of any unknown presence. Most of the time, however, she stayed behind, letting her shoulder heal and doing her part to keep the space tidy.
Kagome was able to recognize the voices that came out of the radio whenever Inuyasha talked with one of his friends. Most of the time it was the ones called Slayer and Monk, though sometimes a voice that went by Cane came through. Those conversations were always interesting; it seemed that Inuyasha didn’t exactly get along with this Cane guy and they were constantly tossing insults at each other. Kagome suspected they were both purposely trying to piss the other off and while strange – and if she were being honest, somewhat childish – it was also highly amusing.
It was after a particular conversation between him and Monk in which they discussed a rogue and the issue of trusting them with a fawn (??) that Kagome had asked why had had given his real name when he met her and not his alias. Inuyasha had seemed surprised at first, but then he’d shrugged and simply said he’d needed to get her to trust him. Doubtful she would if he’d lied right off the bat and given her a false name.
She’d digested that in silence, though the smile on her face suggested she appreciated that he had, in fact, been true with her from the start.
It was getting easier to be alone now, for which she was grateful, and while she still felt some lingering anxiety whenever she paid too much attention to how long he’d been gone, it was easily manageable. To pass the time, she played cards with an old deck she’d found while sneakily nosing through the stuff Inuyasha had collected over the months. A lot of the time whenever he returned during one of her games, he’d sit down and join her and they’d have the rowdiest, loudest games of Bullshit ever.
It was tons of fun though despite it being just the two of them, and more often than not Kagome was left gasping for breath from laughing too hard.
It was the day before two of Inuyasha’s friends were supposed to show up to take over watching the store and Kagome was in the middle of a rather boring game of Solitaire when the radio crackled to life. So used to the silence of the basement during Inuyasha’s absences, she jumped in her seat with a startled gasp and snapped her gaze to stare at the device where it sat on the table in front of her.
“Ash, come in.”
She blinked. Slayer, she thought, recognizing the feminine voice. Kagome’s brow furrowed slightly; the woman had sounded slightly out of breath and a tad harried. Was everything okay?
“Ash, do you read?” Slayer’s voice came over again and Kagome detected a smidge of impatience.
She bit her lip and glanced at the ceiling door. Inuyasha had been gone for about forty-five minutes and was due back in another fifteen, however it was always unpredictable when his exact arrival would be.
“Dammit, Ash—” Slayer cut herself off with a grunt and Kagome’s frown deepened as she stared thoughtfully at the two-way. That hadn’t sounded very good at all...
“Come back or so help me god I’ll feed all your precious ramen to the stupid zombies!”
Kagome’s eyebrows rose at the rather...unique threat and her lips twitched. Over the past few days she had also learned of Inuyasha’s fervent love – or maybe obsession was a more accurate term – for the noodles and had he been around to hear it she was fairly certain that particular threat would get his ass in gear. The man liked his ramen.
A few more seconds ticked by and the device remained silent. Kagome watched it for another five seconds before shrugging and going back to her game, figuring Slayer must have realized Inuyasha wasn’t around. Putting the five of hearts on top of the six of spades, Kagome idly wondered what had happened and hoped that it was nothing bad—
“Answer me right now, you goddamn prick!”
The shriek coming from the tiny speaker startled Kagome so badly she nearly fell out of her chair and with a gasp, she didn’t think as she reached over and snatched up the radio.
“Uh, er, h-hello?” Kagome spoke into the mic, wincing at how uncertain she sounded.
She received no response and she bit her lip before continuing a little more bravely, “Um, Slayer, right? I’m sorry, Ash isn’t around right now, but I can pass along a message if you’d like?”
She released the switch and waited anxiously, hoping the woman wouldn’t be mad that she’d answered and not the half-demon. A few seconds later the two-way crackled to life and Slayer’s voice, much more composed, came through.
“Hi,” she said amiably and Kagome relaxed. “You must be that woman Ash has told us about. Uh, yeah, I’m Slayer.” She gave a nervous laugh. “I’m sorry you had to hear that...usually he picks up right away so I thought he was deliberately ignoring me. He’s done it before, usually when he’s in a mood.”
Kagome could practically hear the other woman’s eyes rolling and she couldn’t stifle the snicker that bubbled up. “I’ve only known him for a few days, but I know exactly what you mean.”
“I think we’ll get along just fine,” Slayer replied and Kagome could hear the smile in her voice. “Listen, I don’t mean to be rude, but I need to go. I did have a reason for contacting him and it’s kinda urgent, so could you please tell him to contact me when he gets back?”
“Of course,” Kagome returned without hesitation, frown back in place. She wanted to ask if everything was okay, but knew it wasn’t her place yet so she refrained. “He should be back in about ten minutes or so. I’ll let him know right away.”
“Thank you,” Slayer said, relief evident in her voice, but there was also an edge to it that was more than a little concerning. “It was nice meeting you...sorta.” A soft laugh floated from the speaker and Kagome echoed it.
“Ditto,” she said and the radio fell silent once more.
Worrying her bottom lip again, Kagome set the two-way on the table and sighed, staring down at the cards on the table. She’d scattered them slightly when she’d been startled from the radio suddenly coming to life so she started gathering them into a pile and stacking them back to replace into the ripped cardboard box.
She had just decided to get in a little PT for her shoulder when the ceiling hatch flipped open and Inuyasha dropped inside with a grunt. His shirt was bloody, which meant he’d had to utilize the sword at his hip – Tessaiga, if she recalled correctly – and Kagome hoped whatever he’d had to cut down was already dead.
She tipped him a smile and sat down on the bed. “Hi.”
He flicked her a glance, grunted, and promptly shed his shirt, unceremoniously dropping it to the floor before digging around for a clean one.
Kagome’s face flamed and though she told herself to look away, her eyes took in his muscled back with unveiled appreciation, catching a glimpse of his chest as he straightened to pull a t-shirt over his head. Hastily she looked away and desperately hoped he hadn’t caught her checking him out. Good lord, but the man was ripped.
“Um, Slayer needs to talk to you,” Kagome said. “She sounded a little weird, so I answered her back on the radio. She said it was urgent.”
Inuyasha frowned and picked up the two-way. “Weird, how?”
Kagome shook her head. “Like she was out of breath and, I don’t know...agitated?”
Nodding, not really liking the sound of that, Inuyasha depressed the switch and spoke into the mic, “Ash to Slayer, come in.”
Her reply was immediate. “Took your sweet time,” she quipped.
He rolled his eyes. “What happened? You said it was urgent.”
Never one to beat around the bush, Sango cut right to the chase. “Monk’s hurt,” she said and even Kagome could pick up on the concern in her voice. “We ran into a group of people that threatened to kill us if we didn’t hand over our weapons and supplies and Monk got a cut in his arm that I think needs stitches.”
“So why don’t you—”
“We ran out last week, Ash,” she cut him off, sounding impatient. “Remember? Because Cane is a fucking idiot and used the last of it so he didn’t bleed out after that stupid stunt he pulled?”
Inuyasha cursed because yeah, he remembered. “Fucking wolf,” he muttered.
“Besides,” Slayer continued, voice soft. “You’re the only one I trust to do it right. It’s Monk, Ash.”
Inuyasha closed his eyes and sighed, thrusting a hand through his hair. “Yeah,” he rumbled, grimacing. “I know. Alright, fine, but Thing One and Two are gonna hafta—”
“They’re already on their way,” she interrupted and the relieved gratitude in her voice was unmistakable. “Left about fifteen minutes ago.”
“Copy. See you soon.”
“Back atcha.”
Inuyasha stared thoughtfully down at the two-way radio for a moment before shaking his head and placing it back on the dock to charge. Ginta and Hakkaku, otherwise known as Thing One and Thing Two, were the biggest scatterbrains he knew and often forgot to put it back on the dock to charge at the end of the night. At least now it would have a halfway decent charge before they carted it around everywhere.
“Looks like you’ll be meeting everyone a day early,” he said as he turned back around, one hand on his hip while the other racked through his hair. When all Kagome did was toss him a distracted smile before adopting her look of pensive concern again, Inuyasha frowned and then crossed his arms.
“What is it?” he asked. He’d gotten to know the young woman pretty well in the past few days and he could tell something was bothering her now.
Her eyes flashed to his at the question and she worried her bottom lip. He cocked a brow, wondering what it could possibly be to make her this hesitant, then she sighed and really, he should have expected what came out of her mouth next.
“Those people,” Kagome began quietly, her gaze searching his, but for what he didn’t know, “that...Slayer was talking about, who wanted their weapons. Did...were they...killed?”
Kagome didn’t fail to notice the way Inuyasha visibly tensed, and when all he did was clench his jaw and harden his stare, she had her answer.
Tumblr media
“So,” Kagome said some twenty minutes later and tilted her head, giving him a sidelong glance as her lips twitched. “Thing One and Two?”
From where he stood by the edge of the shop’s roof, keeping a lookout for a huge black truck and straining his ears for the sound of a diesel engine, Inuyasha glanced to his right and studied the profile of the woman that stood beside him. His gaze met hers for an instant before she looked away, back toward the deadened land that surrounded them and the even deader figures that wandered it. A few of them dotted the landscape here and there, but not enough to be a concern, so they more or less went ignored.
Inuyasha’s brows dipped into a slight frown. He knew it was still bothering her. She tried to hide it behind vague smiles and forced laughter, but he could see the strain around her eyes, the way she unconsciously worried her lip and seemed to lose herself in thought. He didn’t like that she was so obviously troubled by this, and several times now he had to stop himself from reassuring her or spewing out complete bullshit just to see a genuine smile on her face again.
Because the fact of the matter was, anything he could say wouldn’t make a damn bit of difference because this was something she had to work out by herself. He knew she didn’t relish the thought of killing someone in cold blood – hell, he was willing to bet his ramen stash she was the type of person who caught insects in her house and released them back outside – but unfortunately, that was the way of the world now. You had to kill in order to survive and she was just going to have to accept that on her own terms, no matter how harsh it sounded.
Inuyasha knew she would. Kagome was strong; maybe not in body, but definitely in will and heart, and he was confident she would come around in time. And until that time finally came around, Inuyasha would be there to protect her and offer his assistance whenever necessary.
“You’ll understand when you meet them,” he finally answered, lifting a brow. “Otherwise they’re known as Smokey and Bandit.”
Kagome actually did a double take at that and her mouth dropped slightly.
“Yeah,” Inuyasha muttered, knowing exactly what she was thinking. “I know. And yes, it was deliberate. I swear to God they’re joined at the hip. Not once in the entire time I’ve known them have I ever seen them apart. Also they’re bona fide idiots.”
“Don’t be rude.”
He shrugged, unapologetic. “You’ll see,” he said and the distant rumble of a diesel engine had him turning his gaze back to the road.
Not ten seconds later he spotted the familiar black dually weaving between the abandoned vehicles on the road, the twin silver stacks rising up on either side of the cab clearly visible. The truck was lifted and altogether a motherfucking powerhouse and Inuyasha loved the thing. His own vehicle had been stolen long ago when everything started but it wasn’t a huge loss; the sedan had been on its last legs anyway and he wasn’t sorry to see it go.
This monster, however, Inuyasha had pretty much claimed as his own, everybody knew it, and he’s not going to lie: he was going be fucking devastated if something happened to it. He considered it a bonus that it was a zombie killing machine and hell yeah it was fun mowing them down with the modified grill he’d fashioned himself. Reminiscent of a pilot that was usually found on trains, the heavy steel frame easily cleared anything in front of it and it was arguably the best idea he’d ever had.
While Inuyasha raised a hand and waved, gesturing for them to drive around back to the loading dock, Kagome came up beside him and gawked at the six-wheeled monstrosity.
Inuyasha caught the look on her face and grinned proudly.
“Beauty, ain’t she?” he boasted and watched as Hakkaku, in the passenger’s seat, threw him a thumbs up as Ginta turned the wheel to go around back.
“It’s huge,” Kagome mumbled, frowning. “Is it yours?”
“More or less,” he answered and gently took her elbow to guide her to the other side of the roof. “I found it shortly after my own car was stolen, cleaned it up, made it better, so as far as I’m considered it’s mine now. Doesn’t hurt that it’s a beast and a definite upgrade from what I had before.”
The two wolves were just backing up to the loading dock and hooking an arm around Kagome’s waist, Inuyasha murmured a word of warning before hopping down to the ground. Predictably the roar of the diesel truck had attracted a number of deadies and Inuyasha told her to stay put before unsheathing Tessaiga and getting to work.
And as always, Kagome watched in awe as the half-demon darted from zombie to zombie and she couldn’t help but think that he was truly a sight to behold as he swung that huge sword of his around. Bodies fell at an alarming rate and there wasn’t a hitch in his stride, zero hesitation as he cut down the undead with a practiced ease that was almost frightening.
“Pretty amazing, isn’t he?” a voice said to her right and Kagome managed to tear her gaze away from the half-demon to find one of the inhabitants of the truck standing beside her, his gray eyes friendly.
“Don’t tell anybody, but I’ve always thought Ash can give Cane a run for his money any day,” the wolf demon said with a mischievous grin and Kagome blinked in surprise.
“Don’t let either of them hear you say that, or you’ll never hear the end of it!” another voice piped up and Kagome shifted her gaze to find wolf demon number two standing in the bed of the truck. The first thing she noticed about him was his blonde mohawk tipped with red and she thought the look suited him.
The one beside her, a tad shorter than she was with hair the same shade as his eyes and streaked with black, snickered and offered her another wide grin.
“Nah, he’s too busy showing off to hear,” he chortled and Kagome had to smile. “And Iris was bitching out Cane again when we left so doubtful he’d even care if he knew.”
“His face was so red!” Mohawk crowed as he hoped down from the bed and landed beside Gray Eyes.
“But from anger or shame, it was hard to tell!”
While the two men laughed at the expense of Cane, Kagome stood there staring between the two of them with a bewildered look on her face, not sure exactly what to say and wondering if they even remembered she was standing there. She suddenly understood why Inuyasha called them Thing One and Two.
And as if on cue, said half-demon sauntered over and barked, “Would you idiots knock it off and introduce yourselves already? Fuck’s sake, how that wolfshit puts up with you two I have no idea,” he muttered as he bypassed them and entered the backdoor to open the bay in order to load the truck.
As one the two wolf demons looked at each other, blinked, then broke into wide grins before abruptly spinning around to face her so fast Kagome took an involuntary step back.
“Our apologies, miss!” they said simultaneously and Kagome could do nothing but stand there and gape as together they took the same stance, legs akimbo with thumbs pointing at their chests, and plastered on matching, toothy grins.
“I’m Smokey, I have dimples!” the gray haired one said proudly.
“And I’m Bandit, the shrewd one!” Mohawk declared, then to Kagome’s utter bewilderment, they performed an odd sort of synchronized dance with fake fighting that reminded Kagome of a bad action film. They concluded it by striking what they probably assumed were power poses but in reality made them look ridiculous.
Well, more ridiculous.
“And together, we’re Smokey and the Bandit!” they chorused and it was glaringly obvious they thought they’re little show was original and awe inspiring.
So of course Kagome, after getting over her shock, smiled brightly and clapped as they blushed and bowed.
“I have to admit,” she started, a teasing note to her voice, “I was a bit disappointed when you didn’t roll up in a black Trans Am, but that definitely made up for it.”
The duo stared at her for a beat of silence before abruptly losing their shit, jumping up and down, talking loudly over one another and basically just acting like rabid fangirls over the fact that Kagome understood the reference and where they’d gotten the names from. She stood there with a bemused smile on her face and inconspicuously inched toward the door where Inuyasha disappeared.
The truck bay door suddenly slid open, revealing Inuyasha in all of his scowling glory as he glared at the two idiots.
“You both need to shut the hell up before you attract every goddamn roamer within a mile radius and I have to explain to Cane why you morons became zombie food while I stood by and watched. Now quit wasting time, make yourself useful and help me load the truck or so help me...”
He let the threat trail off with one last glower before turning and disappearing further into the backroom to gather supplies to take back to the dojo. Bandit grimaced and muttered an apology to Kagome before scampering after him while Smokey chuckled nervously and rubbed the back of his neck.
“Uh, sorry,” Smokey apologized with a sheepish smile. “It’s not often we meet people who share our love for classic films. Heh.”
Kagome giggled and waved off his apology. “It’s fine,” she said. “It’s a good movie and one of my favorites. I have to ask, though, you do realize—”
“Smokey, get your ass over here before I barbecue it in molasses!” Inuyasha bellowed and Kagome snorted a laugh.
The wolf demon scrambled to obey, tossing Kagome one last smile before scurrying over and taking the box of canned food from Inuyasha’s arms to hand to Hakkaku, making a train.
About half an hour later the truck was loaded up, Ginta and Hakkaku were standing in front of the open bay door and waving them off as Inuyasha and Kagome drove off in the monster of a truck. Inuyasha had had to lift her up into it since her arm was still healing and she couldn’t heave herself up but he hadn’t seemed to mind and in fact did it before she’d even asked.
Leaning out the open window and smiling back at her new friends Smokey and Bandit, Kagome waved one last time then leaned back in her seat with a sigh. They were definitely interesting characters and meeting them made her wonder what his other friends were like. She was especially eager to meet Slayer; it’d be nice to have a girlfriend to chat with again and maybe she’d be able to get some more information about Inuyasha from her.
“I like them,” she announced, reaching up to grasp the handle above her head as they bumped over rough terrain and ran over debris that couldn’t be avoided. “Now I know why you call them Thing One and Two.”
She giggled as Inuyasha snorted, but the grin on his face told of his amusement.
“Told you,” he said and hit the button to put up Kagome’s window. Some of the roamers were a little too close for comfort and he didn’t want one of them reaching in.
“I do have to wonder, though...” Kagome suddenly said and Inuyasha flicked her a brief glance before looking forward again.
“What?” he rumbled, managing to squeeze the massive truck into an alley that led back to the main road. A few roamers were standing around in it, but the mounted pilot took care of them, effortlessly plowing them down and clearing the way.
Kagome tilted her head and tipped him a smile, brown eyes flashing impishly.
“They do realize that Snowman was Bandit’s partner, and not Smokey the Sheriff?”
Inuyasha couldn’t stop the grin from spreading and he barked out a laugh.
“What we’re dealing with here,” he replied, shooting her a smirk as amber eyes glinted wickedly, “is a complete lack of respect for the law.”
Kagome threw her head back and laughed.

Ch. 6
a nod to one of my all-time favorite movies, Smokey and the Bandit. also that last line that Inuyasha says is a quote from the movie. Sheriff Buford T Justice, otherwise known as Smokey, says it to his (very dimwitted) son.

Somethin’ Bad
Description: Got a full tank of gas and the money out the mattress, got a real good feelin' somethin' bad about to happen. AU Post Season 4 Buffy the Vampire Slayer story based on the Miranda Lambert/Carrie Underwood song Somethin' Bad. Faith never came to Sunnydale in Season 3 and never joined forces with the Mayor. Buffy still took down the Mayor and took down Adam in Season 4. Buffy/Faith. Oneshot
Disclaimer: I do not own Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Somethin' Bad sung by Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert
A/N: It's amazing how productive I can be with writing when I'm trying to avoid doing graduate school work. I wrote this because Somethin' Bad came on on my playlist and I've been rewatching Season 3 of Buffy and I couldn't get the idea out of my head. Kinda went its own way after a while. Some direct quotes from Buffy. Lyrics from the song are at the end.
Buffy was sitting in the front seat of Willow's car, staring out the window at the Methodist church. Her hair was in an elaborate up do, the tail end of her hair and veil cascading down the back of her neck. Her makeup was perfection, thank you very much Willow, her eyeshadow and eye liner combo bringing out the green with flecks of hazel in her eyes. Nervously she smoothed her fluffy white muslin layered skirts, her palms sweaty.
"Hey, you ok?" Willow asked from the driver's seat. Buffy turned and saw her looking over at her with concern in her eyes.
"Yeah," Buffy said, smiling, but she quickly felt the smile start to fade. Her eyes quickly took in Willow's emerald green bridesmaid dress, her red hair straightened with a gentle uptick at the bottom.
"Want a few minutes?" Tara asked from the backseat, and Buffy turned to look at Willow's girlfriend. Tara was dressed in a flowy blue gown, her hair pulled back in messy bun behind her head. She was looking at Buffy with that calm caring look she always seemed to have, and Buffy felt herself relax somewhat. Willow placed her hand on Buffy's arm but Buffy shook her head.
"Guys, I'm fine. Let's head out!" she said, forcing herself to sound chipper before stepping out of the car and pulling her skirts all the way out before shutting the door behind her. Willow came around and adjusted her veil and fluffed the skirts some more.
"Let's just make it to the church doors and we'll go from there, ok?" Willow said, her eyes focused on her job at hand. "Don't forget this is your party. So, don't be nervous!"
Buffy rolled her eyes at her. "When did telling someone to not be nervous ever work, Will?"
Willow laughed and linked her arm in Buffy's as they walked up the walk towards the church. Everyone was already inside. Giles was waiting for her to walk her up the aisle. Her Mom should already be sitting in the pews. And Riley… She stopped at the doors. Willow and Tara both looked at her as Buffy stared at the door and she missed the look Tara gave Willow as she placed her hand on Willow's arm.
"You come in when you're ready." Tara said.
Willow gave her a quick hug.
"You look beautiful, Buff," she said before slipping with Tara through the front doors. Buffy stared at the closed doors once they were gone.
Why was she so nervous? She loved Riley. Didn't she? Shouldn't she be happy about this? She thought she was. Yesterday. But then there had been those days. Those moments of doubt. It had been a whirlwind since he'd proposed. Wedding preparations. Slaying. Bouquet choices. Demon attack. Seating arrangements. Adam. She bit her lip, then without thinking turned and sprinted down the sidewalk away from the church, her hands holding up her skirts so she wouldn't trip. She should feel guilty, but she really only felt relief.
Not too much longer later she was in her room at her house, pulling up her mattress to grab some of the money she had stashed there, shoving it down the front of her dress before heading out and walking down the street, still in her wedding dress. She needed a drink. She heard a car pull up and stop beside her, but she didn't look up.
"Quite a dress there. Where you headin'? Need a lift?"
The smoky voice with the heavy Boston accent was new to Buffy, and she turned curiously to look at the car stopped beside her and felt her heart skip a beat as she looked into the soft brown doe eyes staring back at her, the edges of her eyes crinkled up in mirth as her dark red lips were turned up in a smirk. Her dark brown hair cascaded around her shoulder in waves, and the black tank top she was wearing superbly showed off her muscled arms and the black tribal tattoo on her right arm.
"Just headed to the bar!" Buffy said sarcastically, smiling at the girl despite herself. She had a real good feeling something bad was about to happen.
"Hop in," Faith said, leaning over to open her passenger door. Buffy looked at the girl, woman, and the door. Suspicious. But, she was the Slayer. She could take care of herself. As she moved forward and slid into the passenger seat the woman leaned back into her own seat. "I'm Faith," she said, holding out her hand.
"Buffy," Buffy answered, shaking the offered hand.
"No shit!" Faith said and Buffy started. "Just the first person I was lookin' for."
"You're looking for me?" Buffy asked, her hand reaching for the door handle.
"Nothin' like that B! Slayer number two here!"
At that Buffy turned to look at her fully, and she didn't know how she hadn't felt it before. That tingle she had felt when she'd been around Kendra. That humming energy. Looking at Faith, she could see the hidden strength there, but she had to admit Faith wore the slayer grace better than she did. She was currently lounging in the driver's seat like a large cat as she shifted her car back into drive.
"You're a Slayer?" Buffy asked, even though she had confirmed the answer.
Faith shrugged a lazy shrug. "What I said." She looked back at Buffy. "So, where we headed?"
Buffy shook her head and looked through the front window. Should she have Faith drive her back to the church?
"The Bronze. It's a club down the street."
Faith laughed and Buffy turned to look at her. "You weren't kiddin' about the bar then? You gettin' married in a bar?"
"Uh, no," Buffy answered, looking down at her hands. "I…don't know."
"Hey, don't have to explain yourself to me," Faith said, her hands up in surrender before putting them back on the wheel. "Bronze this way?" she said, driving off down the street the way Buffy had been walking.
"Yeah, turn left at the light." Buffy looked curiously at the new slayer. "What're you doing in Sunnydale?"
Faith was drumming her hands on the steering wheel to the music coming through the car's speakers. "Watcher's off at some retreat. Figured I'd come look up the infamous Buff," she said with a flirty grin at Buffy before looking back at the road. It was a Saturday, so the streets were pretty busy, people going about their business, laughing and walking with each other. Each minute that passed, each couple she saw, made her want to tell Faith to turn around and go back to the church. By the time they pulled up into the parking lot at the Bronze, Buffy was almost jumping out of her skin. She felt Faith's eyes on her but didn't meet them.
"Hey, let me buy you a drink. Look like you need it," Faith said, lightly slapping her with the back of her hand before sliding out of the car.
Buffy looked at the dark-haired slayer through the driver's side window as Faith stood outside, her back to the car as she looked at the Bronze. Buffy couldn't help but admire Faith's ass through her skin-tight leather pants. Shaking her head, she exited the car as Faith walked towards her trunk, popping the lid with her keys before lifting it and grabbing something within. Buffy saw her pull out a red leather jacket, slipping it on over her tank. She looked up at Buffy, reached into her trunk, and pulled out a black leather jacket.
"Here," she said, holding it out to Buffy. Buffy looked at it.
"I think I'm ok," she said. Faith shook it at her. A breeze picked up and worked its way through the buildings around them and Buffy surprised herself when she shivered. Faith cocked an eyebrow at her. Buffy rolled her eyes and took the jacket, slipping it on. It was a little big for her around the chest, but it felt well-broken in. She couldn't help but inhale the sweet smell that permeated it, the same smell that permeated the car she'd just exited. What was wrong with her? The two walked in step to the front door. They must look a sight, Buffy in her Vera Wang wedding dress with a leather jacket over the top, Faith in her combat boots, leather pants, black tank top, and red leather jacket.
Entering the Bronze, Faith looked around, and Buffy spotted an empty alcove to their right. She tapped Faith's arm and pointed and Faith nodded.
"Be right back," Faith said, heading towards the bar as Buffy made her way over to the alcove and sank onto the couch.
Faith up at the bar looked back at Buffy. She'd come here looking for the other slayer and hoping for a way to burn off some steam. Diana would be pissed when she got back, but so what? She deserved some time off. And really, was the Hellmouth considered time off?
When she'd seen the girl in the pretty white dress walking down the street she'd figured she'd stop to offer her a ride. Figure out where she was heading. She normally didn't pick up random women on the street, but she couldn't help it. Something about Buffy was magnetic. And she looked fucking fantastic. She couldn't quite figure her out now, looking her over. Obviously she was wearing a wedding dress and obviously she was going to get married. What happened?
She grabbed the two drinks from the bartender, two whiskeys and coke, and brought them back to the alcove, sliding one over to Buffy as she lounged back on the couch, kicking her feet up on the table as she took a sip of hers. Buffy reached for the drink, sniffed it, and made a face.
"Just try it, Buff," Faith said, and Buffy did, shaking her head and making a "Blah" sound when she had swallowed. "Not a hard alcohol girl?" Faith said as she smirked at her.
"Not much of a drinker," Buffy answered.
"So, what's your story?" Faith asked, putting her feet back on the floor to lean on her knees. Buffy looked at her and shook her head, the right side of her mouth coming up in a sad smile.
"You don't want to hear it," Buffy said.
"Try me."
Buffy shrugged. "I don't know. It just felt…wrong. Off. I just stared at the door and couldn't go in. Couldn't go through with it." She paused. "And now I'm telling my life story to a complete stranger."
Faith slapped her on the arm. "We're not strangers, B. We're practically sisters, right?" She sat back and took a sip of her drink, watching Buffy stare at her hands. "Well I say forget him," she added. "All men are beasts, Buffy. Every guy from... Manimal down to Mr. I-Love-The-English-Patient has beast in him. I don't care how sensitive they act. They're all still just in it for the chase. So I say you're better off without him." Faith downed her drink. "Finish your drink and we'll go dance."
Buffy smiled nervously up at her. "Faith, I don't think…"
"You. Drink. Now."
Buffy looked up at Faith and couldn't quite figure out what she was doing. What either of them were doing. Well what the hell. She'd left Riley at the altar and she might as well. She lifted the drink, downed it, made a face, and took Faith's offered hand. Her smirk sent warm tingles up and down Buffy's body as she allowed herself to be dragged onto the dance floor.
About an hour later, Buffy and Faith were standing on a box stomping their feet and clapping to the music, both way far down to the road to drunk. Buffy was grinning like an idiot and Faith's eyes were very openly wandering up and down Buffy's body. She grinned suggestively at Buffy as Buffy's eyes met hers after doing a clear body appraisal of Faith as well. When the song ended, Faith slung her arm over Buffy's shoulders and steered her towards the bar.
"Keep the drinks comin'!" she said, slamming her hand that wasn't around Buffy's shoulders on the bar. The bartender rolled his eyes at the two of them, bringing over two more whiskey and cokes that Buffy and Faith grabbed before going back to their alcove.
The two of them sat down on the couch, much closer to each other than they had been the first time they had sat here, their knees brushing.
"Best slaying story?" Buffy asked, sipping her drink and making a face again.
"Alright," she said, leaning forward. "So this one summer, the whole summer was, like, the worst heatwave. So, it's about 118 degrees and I'm sleepin' without a stitch on, and all of a sudden I hear this screamin' from outside. So I go tearin' out stark nude and this church bus is broke down and there's three vamps feasting on half the Baptists in South Boston. So I waste the vamps and the preacher comes up and he's hugging me like there's no tomorrow when all of a sudden the cops pull up and they arrested us both."
Buffy threw her head back and was laughing uproariously. "Seriously?"
"I'm not jokin'." She leaned back on the couch and casually put her arm on the back of the couch behind Buffy. "How about you?"
"Ooo, I met Dracula once!"
Faith gave Buffy an impressed look. "No way!"
"Yes way. He could turn into a bat. Lots of showy tricks. He turned my friend Xander into one of his minions."
"Did you stake him?" Faith asked, resting her head in her hand and she turned on the couch to fully face Buffy.
"Yeah, but it didn't stick. He finally just left in mist form."
"Wicked."
Later that night saw the two of them in the alley behind the Bronze, Faith pinning Buffy up against the wall, both of their hands wandering all over each other, and mouths practically fused together.
The next morning the two of them were back in Faith's car, flying down the road.
"This is crazy," Buffy said, pulling Faith's jacket around her.
"Live a little, B," Faith said, grinning at her before looking back at the road. "Adventure's what we're built for. And I hear New Orleans has some sweet vampire haunts."
Buffy starting flipping through the money she had taken from her mattress combined with what Faith had in her wallet. "I think we have enough to get there, but probably not enough to get back."
"Stop your worryin'," Faith said, smiling at her. "We got a full tank of gas, some cash, and some rockin' skills. We'll figure it out."
Buffy's cell phone started ringing and she picked it up and looked at the number. Faith looked over and saw her grimacing.
"My Mom," she said.
"You gonna answer it?"
"No. I left a note."
"'Runnin' off into the sunset with my new girlfriend?'" Faith said, grinning suggestively at her. Buffy blushed and looked down, putting her phone away. "A little late to be blushin' now." Faith started tapping on the wheel with her fingers, bobbing her head. "We need some music," she said as she turned on the radio and started flipping between radio stations before settling on one and turning the music up. Buffy couldn't help but smile.
A few days later Buffy woke up in a dingy motel room outside New Orleans, her phone, once again, ringing. Faith had her arm slung across Buffy's bare waist and Buffy felt it tighten as she buried her face into Buffy's neck.
"So loud," she grumbled, and Buffy reached out, checking the number before hitting ignore. Willow. Again. She'd gotten a few more phone calls from her Mom, Willow, then Giles, and of course Riley. She'd ignored all of them, and her voicemails were adding up. As she was putting her phone back on the bedside table, her head aching, she noticed a flicker of light from something on her hand. She froze, shook her head, and tried to look a little more closely.
"No," she said, and she felt Faith shift behind her. "No no no no no no no."
Faith pushed herself up on her elbow and rested her chin on Buffy's shoulder. "What's up?" she asked sleepily, her voice groggy and despite being panicked, Buffy felt the pool of heat in her belly at the scratchy voice.
"Faith, what happened last night?"
Faith shrugged, going back to lay back down before her eyes settled on the ring on Buffy's left hand.
"Buffy, what's that?"
"That's what I'm asking Faith. What the hell happened last night?"
Faith actually sat up at this and ran her right hand through her hair before sneaking a glance at her left hand.
"Oh, hell no!" she said as she spotted the ring on her own hand.
Buffy sat up in the bed and noticed a designer shopping bag on the chair in the corner of the room. Pushing back the covers she stood up and approached it, looking in and seeing piles of jewelry.
"This isn't happening," she said to herself, and Faith must have heard the tone in her voice and got out of bed and approached her. "What is this?!" Buffy asked almost in hysterics as she handed the bag to Faith. Faith looked in and her face paled.
"Is there some receipt or somethin'?"
"Faith, I don't know about you, but we didn't have hardly enough money to pay for this motel room."
"Shit," Faith said, running her hands through her hair as she went back to the bed and sat on it, her head in her hands.
Buffy's phone rang again and Buffy looked at it. Angel. She lunged for it and hit the accept button.
"Angel, thank God."
Faith looked up, one of her eyebrows raised questioningly.
"Buffy," Buffy heard Angel's voice coming through the phone. "Are you alright?"
"Angel, I think we're in big trouble."
"We?" Angel asked. Buffy paused, but Angel continued. "Never mind, I heard about the whole Riley thing."
"Angel," Buffy interrupted, but Angel kept talking.
"I'm not calling about that. I'm calling about the calls I'm getting from associates in New Orleans claiming two slayers are terrorizing the demons there. Are you in New Orleans?"
"I think we robbed a jewelry store," Buffy said in a rush.
"Well." A pause. "That's different." Another pause. "You think?"
"We don't remember anything. The last thing I remember is…" she paused, looking at Faith, racking her memories.
"The demon bar," Faith said slowly. Buffy all of a sudden had flashes of the bar, sitting at a table with a few demons, laughing and taking shots. Then…
Her and Faith must have had the same realization at the same time.
"That weird drink," they said at the same time.
"What?" Angel's voice asked over the line.
"I told you we shouldn't have drank it!" Buffy said.
"Everyone else was drinkin' it!" Faith said.
"If everyone else jumped off a bridge would you do it?"
"Buffy!" Angel's voice shouted through the phone. Buffy looked back at the phone in her hand, sheepishly putting it back to her ear.
"Sorry. We think we got drugged."
"What demon bar?"
"Joey's?"
"Let me call Joey, alright? Stay where you are. And answer your phone."
She heard a click as Angel hung up. Buffy sat there for a few more moments as Faith stood up and started putting clothes back on. All of a sudden a ringing was coming out of Faith's bag on the floor. She stared at it like it was a venomous snake, slowly approaching it and reaching in to pull out a cellphone. She looked at the number.
"Shit." She stared for another moment, and she could feel Buffy watching her curiously. Faith chewed her lip, then finally hit the accept button. "Hey Di," she said as she put the phone up to her ear, wincing.
"Where the hell are you Faith?" Diana's very British and very annoyed voice came over the phone.
"How was the homeland?" Faith asked, trying to sound innocent.
"Faith, I asked where you are."
Faith paced the room, scratching at her neck. "Umm, I'm in, ah, I went to Sunnydale, to see Buffy Summers."
"Sunnydale."
"Yep. Figured see if I could learn some stuff from the other slayer, ya know? She's been doin' it longer than I have."
"Let me speak to Rupert Giles."
"What?" Faith asked, and Diana sighed.
"Miss Summer's watcher. Let me speak with him."
Faith panicked, looking around and seeing the alarm clock. 9 am. So…6 am in Sunnydale.
"Uh, it's 6 am. I'm, uh, sleeping in a motel. He's not here."
She heard Diana's exasperated sigh on the other end. She was very familiar with that sigh.
"I'll call him then in a couple of hours."
"No!" Faith said emphatically.
"No?" Faith could almost hear the eyebrow raise and the skeptical look.
"He's, uh, sick. Yeah."
"Faith, where really are you?"
Faith looked over at Buffy and felt herself soften. The light was coming through the window and fell gently on her face and hair. She was looking up at Faith with an adorable confused look and Faith found herself wanting to kiss it away. She shook her head. Focus. If this had been a couple of years ago she would have blown Diana off, blown Buffy off and bolted. But she wasn't the Faith she had been a few years ago. Hell, she wasn't the Faith she had been a year ago. Diana, as stubborn as she was, wouldn't let Faith stay in that dingy apartment room she had found for herself. She would pressure Faith, even when she said she was fine. When Kakistos had almost killed her and Faith had finally slain him, she had sat on the floor, her hands shaking, and Diana had pulled her into her arms and let Faith crumple against her sobbing. Diana had forced her to not withdraw so much. To learn to trust people again. Not all people, of course. Men still were tools. But Diana, Diana was cool. And so was Buffy.
"I'm in New Orleans," she finally said.
"Faith, what are you doing in New Orleans?"
"Raisin' hell with Buffy?"
"You dragged Buffy with you?"
"She came voluntarily, I swear. No kidnappin' here." Her eyes drifted over to the bag that Buffy had found. Then her eyes drifted to her hand. Nope, eyes back up at the jewelry bag. One thing at a time. "But, uh, I think we may have robbed a jewelry store."
"You did what?!" Diana's voice was piercing and Faith winced.
"We got drugged. We don't remember anything. Just woke up to this bag of jewelry."
There was a pause on the other end. Faith started chewing on her thumbnail as she paced back and forth. It was too quiet.
"Let me call some people. Don't leave."
"Yes ma'am."
Click.
Faith sat down on the bed next to Buffy. "We're fucked," she said, and Buffy snorted. She looked over at Buffy. "You goin' to put some clothes on or go like this all day? Not that I'm complainin' here."
"Guess I should put something on." But she didn't move. "Who was that?"
Faith shrugged, her left-hand clasping and rubbing at her right fist. "My watcher. She's, uh, not too happy I took off."
"And robbed a jewelry store."
"Hey, we don't know what happened."
"Apparently we got married," Buffy quipped, looking down at the simple gold band on her hand.
"That's not somethin' I was expectin' to wake up to."
"After running away from my first marriage, me neither."
Faith laughed a short laugh as Buffy stood and started dressing. It wasn't too long later that Buffy's phone was ringing again. She looked at the number and quickly answered when she saw it was Angel.
"Did you find anything?"
"You took a drink from a Ano-Movic demon?"
"What's an Anatole demon?"
She heard Angel's sigh. "Apparently the drink was mind altering. Releases your inhibitions. Temporary." He paused. "So…"
"Yes?" Buffy asked impatiently.
"He said you and the other slayer were, uh, ahem," he paused, coughing. "Very loving." Buffy sat down on the bed, covering her face with her hand. "Then decided you were going to get married. Then. When the Ano-Movic demon asked where you were going to find a ring that time of the night the two of you disappeared."
"Literally?" Buffy asked, bordering on hysterics.
"No, no, not literally. You slipped out the back I guess. Joey didn't see you after that."
"Great." Buffy said. "Anything on the jewelry store?" she added.
"No," Angel responded. "My contacts ran out there."
"We're a regular Thelma and Louise," Buffy muttered.
"A what?" Faith asked and Buffy shook her head.
"Buffy," Angel's voice came softly through the phone. "Did you really get married?"
"Gotta go!" Buffy said, then added. "Thank you, Angel. I appreciate it."
"Glad to be of some help. I'm glad you're ok."
"Yeah, pretty soon we'll be nice and safe in a jail cell," she sarcastically added, and she was surprised to see Faith's face pale. "Talk to you soon Angel."
"Call your Mom," Angel added and Buffy sighed. "They're worried about you."
"I will." She hit the end button and looked at Faith. Before she could say anything, Faith's phone rang again and she immediately answered it.
"Got anything for us?"
A sigh. "'Thank you for helping us Diana.' 'Not at all Faith, I'm happy to help!'" Diana said sarcastically and Faith sighed.
"Sorry, thanks, for helping." A pause. "You find anything?"
"Spoke to one of my contacts at the New Orleans PD and explained the situation. They had been informed of the break-in. She owed me, and said she'd be happy to try to clear it up. Luckily for you, their cameras were down." Faith released the breath she didn't realize she was holding. "She said to leave it behind dumpster F-121 on the alley behind the Creole King bar on Jefferson St. She'll take care of it."
"Thank you, Di."
There was silence on the other end and Faith started chewing on her nail again.
"I spoke with Rupert Giles." Faith's blood ran cold. "He was happy to learn that his slayer is safe. If not about…what was going on." A pause and Faith looked up at Buffy. She was watching her worriedly. "He said they could use some help on the Hellmouth, if you'd be interested."
Faith unconsciously flexed her hand and watched as the ring caught the light. Did she want this to be serious? Slaying with Buffy was, to be perfectly honest, exhilarating. It was nice to have backup. And the two of them worked in sync with each other. Like they could anticipate each other's moves. Diana had told her about Hellmouths. Boston had its own share of baddies which is why they had stayed there, but if the crew on the Hellmouth needed help, who was she to say no?
"Yeah. Uh, yeah. Sure."
"Alright. Get Buffy and yourself back and I'll get your stuff from here. I'll see you in Sunnydale." There was another pause on the other end. "And Faith?"
"Hmm?" Faith responded.
"Try not to get into any more trouble? Please?"
Faith chuckled. "I'll try."
Faith hung up and Buffy looked at her expectantly. "Di's got some contacts with the fuzz. Got a drop spot we can leave the loot and she'll take care of it."
Buffy released a breath, but Faith noticed her fiddling with her ring. "Apparently, we robbed the jewelry store to get rings," Buffy said. "Maybe we didn't actually get married?"
Faith looked around the room and her mouth quirked into a smirk as she shook her head and stood up and approached the bedside table next to Buffy.
"Looky what I found?" she said, waving the copy of a signed marriage certificate around, and Buffy groaned and dropped her head in her hands. She sat down next to Buffy. "Diana called your watcher."
Buffy winced. "Of course she did."
"Apparently I'm getting transferred to Sunnydale. If you'll have me?"
Buffy looked up from her hand and looked at Faith. Really looked at her. Faith liked to give off a 'devil-may-care' attitude like nothing bothers her, but she saw that insecurity there. To be honest, she really did like Faith. She liked slaying with her and she felt much more at ease with her at her back. And, well, she liked doing other stuff with her. Was she ready to be married to her? Hell no. But maybe they could work up to it. Something felt right with Faith. Besides the carnal need. She always felt something was missing with Riley. Faith filled that. Buffy smiled and nodded at her.
"I'd like that. But, I think we should start over again. A little more slowly."
"You don't want me showing my ring off to your ex-fiancé?"
"Decidedly no. But I'd like to get to know you better."
Faith bumped Buffy with her shoulders. "Count me in, B."

Tumblr media
I watch the sweat drip down my forehead through the mirror stretched along the wall in front of the Stairmaster. I rub the soreness in my thighs as I climb and climb and I imagine I’m climbing the steps of the Eiffel Tower. I imagine I’m far away from the upper east side and in a foreign country, basking in the sun or drinking hot chocolate in the cold, but I’ve run for centuries trying to escape the people calling me a demon.
I hear the grunts from the men lifting weights over Slayer playing through my headphones, and it occurs to me that if the Avengers wanted to kill me, they would have at least tried to stop me walking out of the tower. They probably wouldn’t have succeeded, but they would have tried.
I’d made a conscious effort to be more alert during the last fortnight since being confronted by the group of superheroes and had noticed black SUVS and people in black hoodies and combat boots trying to stealthily follow me. They kept a safe distance, but I was yet to determine whether they were keeping an eye on me to either protect me from others or protect others from me.
I distantly think about what I’m going to have for dinner as I lift my weights, and do my deadlifts, and I walk past countless restaurants on the way home and I notice the person in the black hoodie is remarkably bigger in muscle mass as of yesterday. I climb the stairs of my apartment building and groan at the ache in my thighs, and I notice the black hoodie actually come into the building today.
I climb the fifteen floors and the black hoodie stays two floors behind me, I regard them with clear eyes, and catch a glimpse of theirs. My brain begins to swim and ocean breeze flitters past my nostrils and I know who it is immediately.
I jam my keys into the lock and wait, turning the knob, flinging the door open, and wait for the black hoodie. He rounds the corner, sees me waiting and stops, head down, hoodie concealing the blonde hair.
“I know you all are keeping a safe distance, Captain Rogers, but please… Join me for dinner,” I invite, smiling to him. His shoulders square and he lifts his head, my eyes meet the oceans and I feel lightheaded, probably from the hard work out and my need for sustenance.
“I’m not sure I should, Ma’am,” Captain Rogers replies in the silky-smooth voice that I want to wrap myself in.
“Come on, you must be hungry from stalking me,” I say cheekily and walk over the threshold to my apartment. The room smells like lavender and I leave the door wide open for him to make his mind up. I dump my bag, slip off my shoes and pull the chicken from the fridge.
The chicken is diced and the oil is hot in the pan when Captain Rogers finally makes up his mind, entering and closing the door. He pushes down the hoodie of his sweatshirt and removes his boots, not necessary but appreciated.
“I hope you’re okay with a curry,” I tell him as he lifts his eyes to mind, he nods, mouth still in a hard line. “Would you like a drink? I have beer, I think?”
“Water should be fine, Ma’am.” I move and fill a glass with iced water from the fridge and place it in front of one of the bar stools, forcing him to come within touching distance of me. I notice how weary he is, careful with each step and each movement, almost as if worried that I might get angry.
He does as I expect him to, shuffle towards the breakfast bar and seats himself on one of the swivel chairs and sips the water leisurely. I watch the beauty of the man before me, so struck with how unbelievably breathtaking this man is even compared to the many Gods I’ve met. Eyes bluer than the oceans Poseidon controls, hair silkier than Aphrodite’s, skin more golden than even mine, and voice smoother than Hera’s as she nurses a child.
I throw the chicken into the pan to brown, and once cooked I put in the sauce to simmer. Regarding Captain Rogers who has awkwardly sipped through half of his glass, I press my hands into the counter and lean towards him, he looks at me alarmed.
“Captain Rogers, I was wondering if you could answer some of my questions?” I ask, moving my head to his level and searching the eyes that are bright and innocent. His mouth twitches slightly, enough for me to notice.
“You can call me Steve, Ma’am,” He replies, voice soaking through me, and causes my eyes to visibly flutter.
“And you can call me Athena, Steve,” I reciprocate the first name basis, he smiles slightly and I notice the weary fondness stretch across him as the tension in his shoulders loosen. “Now, are the Avengers following me because you think I might hurt someone?”
Steve’s eyes flash surprise, and his smile vanishes into confusion. “Tony has done extensive reading on your history, he doesn’t believe you a threat and nor do I,” Steve replies truthfully, I see the glint of trust in his words and I smile wide without thinking. I’d never heard trust in someone’s voice when speaking about me before, I’d been met with fear my entire existence.
“Then what’s with the security detail?” I ask, stirring the curry before turning the pot of water on to boil. Steve releases a breath and I hear him stand from the chair, I see him round the bench before I feel him. He brushes a hand on my hip and I have a very sudden urge to lean into the touch, but it’s gone within a second and he leans against the bench.
“Tony and I don’t believe you are a threat to us or anyone else, but that doesn’t mean all the Avengers agree,” Steve replies, I gather a glint of regret in his voice, regret for telling me that maybe. I understand where he is coming from, and I understand where the Avengers that don’t trust me are coming from, I haven’t given them any reason not to.
I pour the rice into the boiling water and stir the curry once more, I don’t bother replying as I grab plates from the cupboard and uncork a bottle of wine, and pour myself a glass.
“Do you drink wine, Steve?” I ask, taking a sip. He looks from watching the curry simmer to look at me, the corner of his lips raise.
“Only with beautiful women, Ma’am,” Steve replies, and I smile, and his eyes flash for a second, “Athena, I mean.”
“So, I shouldn’t pour you a glass then,” I insinuate, I place my glass down and stir the rice, turning the tap onto hot water to drain it once it’s fully cooked. Steve shifts and I feel his presence inch closer, turning I see I’m right with my body a few inches from his.
“You are spectacularly beautiful, Athena,” His mouth curves and I have to look down before I give myself away, the smile on my face still evident. “Many men have probably assured you of that over the centuries.”
“You’d be surprised. Just because they built the Parthenon for me, doesn’t necessarily mean that men aren’t intimidated by me,” I reply quickly, pouring the rice into the strainer. Swirling it through hot water, “I don’t date usually, I’m a terrible liar with those I feel connection to.”
I make the plates and pour another glass of wine for Steve, who takes it eagerly. I leave leftovers on the stove and just as I had thought, Steve questions whether he can have seconds, I nod eagerly and watch with a fondness growing in my chest.
“What did you mean when you said that you weren’t a superhero if history had anything to do with it?” Steve asks as I wash the dishes, leaning his head in his hands, I watch as his hair falls onto his forehead and note the way it tumbles.
“I haven’t always been so secretive with my origin. Apollo and I came to earth to help the mortals, with this ignorant idea that we could rid the world of war and famine and disease, we succeeded in some parts, but failed in others. We couldn’t stop the black plague, and were failures in stopping the extinction of integral species,” I sigh, draining the water from the sink and wiping my hands on my tights, my chest tightening but I continue for the sake of the man’s concentration completely on me. “I was naïve, and during the Salem Witch trial era, I revealed my existence to Salem, and was met with harsh words and pitch forks. I thought I could help these people, but they threatened to kill me. I ran and never stopped running, I move to a new city every few decades to feign off the questions about my age.”
“How long have you resided in New York?” Steve questions, enthralled by my story. I smile, and move to sit beside him, sipping on my third glass of wine.
“It has only been three years last month. I was in Rome before this,” I tell him, rubbing the muscles of my thighs as they ache, he follows my hands and his mind reels.
“How about we retire to the couch and I’ll massage your legs as you tell me stories of your life?” Steve offers, I meet his eyes in surprise, my hands stuttering as I dig my fingers into the muscles.
“You don’t have to do…” Steve interrupts me by grasping both my hands and tugging me towards the couch, obviously eager to hear more tales of my long existence.
I watch him sit, beautiful against the cream sofa, and I sit beside him, leaning against the arm rest, and drape my legs across his lap, the curve of my behind pressed to his thigh. He brings rubbing the sore muscles of my thighs and I begin talking, starting from a random spot in history, telling him about Apollo and I. This goes on for a while, he massages my thighs, then switches to my calves, then back up to my thighs, his eyes watching his hands and his ears listening intently to my words.
“We were in Brooklyn, Apollo and I, on July 4th, 1940 and we went to this dive bar. I remember that year, I had dyed my hair black and had grown it all the way down to my lower back, and was wearing this bright red dress that night. We were on vacation, and Apollo pulled me to this bar and we danced all night. I remember listening to the band and wishing that I could live and die in this era, instead of having to live through all the war and famine; it was the first year of the war, a war I couldn’t stop, but we danced, and basked in the dull lights and the laughing people. It was like there was no war in the world, like these people didn’t care what was happening on the streets, they just danced and laughed and drank,” I told him, remembering the night like it was yesterday.
“What bar was it?” Steve asks, I look at him and notice his eyes wide, and see that he has stopped massaging and his hands are motionless on my thighs.
“O’Connor’s. It’s closed now,” I tell him, feeling the clench of his hands on my thighs as I let the words slip my mouth.
“I knew when you said black hair and red dress, but I wasn’t sure,” Steve blubbers, I place my hand on his shoulder and he turns to look at me, shifting himself and my legs to almost pull me onto his lap. “It was my birthday and Bucky had taken me out to celebrate before I enlisted in the war, and there was this beautiful woman in a man’s arms and I had sat and drank my beer and wished that was me. She was so beautiful, I had thought, and it was you.”
My eyes widen and my jaw goes slack, I had been so invested in dancing that I hadn’t looked at anyone sideways, if I had I would have seen him. I remember the music that night as it floods my head, soft and carefree. I remember the happiness I felt and I’m transported to that time as I watch the beautiful man in front of me wish he had asked me to dance.
I suddenly don’t want anything more than to be here with him, and I pull myself up onto his lap, his hands finding my hips, and I look into his ocean eyes. I fall deeply into them, and press my thighs to his, and wrap myself in the man I wish I had met in that 1940’s dive bar, but we are in the 21st century and neither of us can get drunk off of wine, and I press my lips to his.
And suddenly we are dancing, and I feel weak and his hands are on my back and in my hair and I feel more like a goddess than I have in millennia.

October 31, 2019 & November 1, 2019
I woke up the morning of Halloween not feeling the best - it was a struggle to get out of bed because the moment I woke up, I remembered that the ones I love the most are not there anymore. I obsessively check my phone to see if any of them has messaged me, and become depressed and sad when I don’t see anything from them. It makes me feel so alone. I don’t want to bother them anymore so I don’t message them first, which has been absolute torture. I want to see how they are doing, what they are up to, and to tell them that I miss them. But self control is something I’m practicing.
I texted another best friend of mine blocks of texts just venting out all my feelings. I never got a response, which made me curl up in a ball for a bit. My withdrawals are getting worse and worse - I read that trying to detox on your own is actually life threatening because you’re all of a sudden depleting your body of what it was so dependent on that your body doesn’t know how to handle it. I made an appointment for next Tuesday to receive medical assistance on detoxing safely, so I hope that will help with the withdrawal symptoms.
I had plans to go to a rave for Halloween, but even that was hard to look forward to. I sat staring at my Neko-Chan Nezuko costume for hours wondering whether it was worth it to go out, even though I was so looking forward to wearing it out and to rave again after so long. And then at the absolute perfect time, my best friend from California, who I have not talked to since I left, sent me an encouraging and positive text reminding me to love myself, because the moment I love myself is when everyone else will love me too (if you’re reading this, which I know you are, I love you very much <3). This is the positivity I need to keep going.
And so I put on my costume, though half-assed because I was a bit lethargic after spending all day in my mind (like I didn’t even put on the sash or ribbons or anything lol I was like eh..it’s a rave, not a convention). And then I went.
And it was one of the best decisions I’ve made during this recovery period.
I received so many compliments on my costume and so many head pats it was ridiculous lol. I would walk around and someone would scream “Nezuko!” and then ask for a picture with me and then give me a head pat. Or if I was just chilling and dancing, random people would come up to me and just pat my head. Or if I was walking by people, I would get random hugs (and moaarrr head pats teehee do u see why I’m so happy I fucking love head pats). I felt like I was at a convention bc I don’t know how many pics I took that night with people or how many people walked by and yelled “I love your cosplay!”
And I met so many cool people that night too. A girl in a Sailor Moon costume spotted me and freaked out hahaha she was like “HOLY SHIT IT’S NEZUKO” and hugged me for like a minute and wouldn’t let go lmao. She then actually started tearing up?? Bc she was like I love Nezuko so much holy shit you’re so cute I loveee Nezuko and took like 5 billion pictures of me and with me. We’re now friends on Instagram :)
I also met like 6 Tanjiros too LOL (but surprisingly no other Nezukos or Demon Slayers?). They were all so nice and sweet. One of them chased me from half way across the venue bc I was walking toward the bathroom and asked for a picture with me. He then stayed with me for a bit and saw that I was struggling to see bc I’m short af and asked if I wanted a shoulder ride. I said no LOL bc I’m scared of heights and two wtf that’s a weird thought to see Tanjiro shoulder carry his sister (carry her in a box, not your shoulder bro). We did exchange Snaps and I got a head pat before we parted ways :)
The other Tanjiros who walked by me were also super kind. We took pictures and also exchanged Snaps and man it just felt so PLUR that I felt like I was in a state of euphoria all night. At some point, a girl walked up to me and just stood next to me and stared at me. She was so short wtf like I’m short but this girl had to look UP at me. She clearly did not look okay, and I asked her if she was alright. She just nodded, but grabbed onto my arm and just mumbled “Nezuko” over and over again. I took her with me to the bar to buy her a bottle of water, and at that point one of her friends found her and thanked me for watching over her. I felt happy that I could help someone out :D
Then at the end of the night, I was walking toward the exit when ANOTHER Tanjiro approached me. He was with a group of friends who spotted me earlier but they said they were too shy at that point to come up to me. He asked for a picture with me and it was originally a selfie, but then his friends were like dude you need to piggy back her she’s your sister. And so I agreed to that, and like 10 plus people had their phones out to take pics and I’m like am I at a rave or a convention lmao. I not only exchanged Snaps/Instas with Tanjiro but literally all of his friends too and I got 10 more head pats LMAO. I woke up this morning (I’m writing this on Nov 1) and saw that Tanjiro posted the piggy back photo on his Instagram with the caption “pats head” and I smiled :) Although it was super embarrassing because people commented thinking I was his gf and I was like IOJDOFJSOIJ oh nOOOOoooOOOO
Tumblr media
(he messaged me and apologized for his friends and I was like hahaha its ok...but I’m still feeling very embarrassed and shy >__<)
And remember that smol Asian girl I helped earlier? I found her sitting outside on the curb alone when the rave was over. She looked 10 times better and I noticed that more than half her water bottle was gone. I approached her and asked her where her friends were and she said they were in the bathroom, so I sat down next to her to keep her company. She thanked me for watching out for her because she was rolling on something bad and lost her friends, and she didn’t know who to approach. But then she was like “Then I saw you and I was like Nezuko can’t be a bad person, Nezuko can take care of me.” And so this time I was the one to give the head pat and I told her I’m glad she was feeling better. We exchanged Instagrams before we both parted ways. I felt so warm after that.
I’m also very proud to say that this is my first ever rave that I went to sober. And it was still so much fun and the fact that I can remember everyone and everything is such a great feeling. I woke up this morning to so many kind messages and Snaps and Instagram posts/comments from the people I met last night that I would have been so sad if I didn’t remember who they were. I was also in the right state of mind to help someone and to not make a fool of myself. There were many times where I would walk by the bar and stare, but my mind screamed no, you need to love yourself, your body needs a break since you are detoxing, you are strong and don’t need any substances in order to have fun. And I kept telling myself that, and the many people I was surrounded with last night truly kept me grounded. I haven’t been this happy in so long. The rave community truly is a blessing and I’m so happy that I went out last night (although my head is a little sore now from all the head pats LOL but it was so worth it).
10/10 would rave as Neko-Chan Nezuko again. <3
