Okay, so you have officially given me too much power with allowing me to ramble at you, so here we go, ramble 2.0!

So, I was trying to art today, you know how it is when you have that one fic that has art that needs to be done and you're the only one who can do it, so I was doing that, and, well, art doesn't like me all that much, at least art with 4 characters in it doesn't. I managed to get the pencil outline done, which is one of the hardest parts in my opinion, and it will be posted with the corresponding DF chapter, but wow did it fight.

I was also looking back at the chapters of DF that I have yet to post, and boy are you guys in for it. I give you a healthy dose of fluff beforehand, but oof are we about to hit the angst hard. I have to go back through and add onto the angst because I sort of added something to make it angsty, and then glossed over it, so, ya'know, more angst to give you all!

While I'm rambling, I may as well mention work, because, if I thought my art was giving me a hard time, today has been a rough one at work. We started off quiet, like very quiet, and then things exploded. We had order after order come in, not to mention an important customer also came in (someone who is looking to buy the restaurant from us) so that was fun, almost as fun as tripping over the lip in the kitchen and nearly cracking my head open. Thankfully, I'm fine, but boy did I not need that right then!

Alright, I think that's about it for today's ramble, and I doubt there will be one tomorrow as I am catering at yet another event tomorrow (thankfully that's the last one before the weddings and Thanksgiving). I will be getting a chapter of DF out though before I have to hit the road, so there is that.

I get that- few weeks ago I tried rating and well- let’s just say that the mushrooms didn’t really mush or room….

Also woah! I can relate to that when like we have multiple guests coming in for like one day or two right after each other then one for like a month(Very stressful when one leaves at 2 and the other comes in at 3:30 or 4!😭)

Obsessed with the idea of Xie Lian getting his spiritual powers back and not really using them outside of like subconscious actions. Like in a fight he spent 800 years just straight up throwing hands so it doesn’t really occur to him to use it. But because he’s literally stuffed full of spiritual energy it just results in Puqi Shrine becoming the fairies house in Sleeping Beauty. Like there’s a pot stirring itself while truly toxic ingredients are added to a soup. The floor is being sweeped by a broken broom. The laundry is being done automatically meaning all his white robes are now a faint pink. Hua Cheng is sitting in the bed grinning fondly at the chaos around him. Meanwhile Xie Lian is just sitting outside sorting out his junk piles to see if he can find the pretty comb he wanted to give his husband and thinking of the chores he has to do today because they didn’t leave the bed until noon.

I've seen the headcanon that Lucanis' mother, Caterina's perfect heir, was actually similar to Illario in some ways. That she was calculating, ruthless, ambitious, obedient... all the things Caterina overlooks in Illario because Caterina sees her favourite daughter's deep brown eyes and quiet, controlled demeanor and careful planning in Lucanis.

But I am also attached to the idea that the opposite is true too. That Illario's mother shared similarities with Lucanis; that she was empathetic and stubborn, with a slight rebellious streak. But she was always outgoing and charming, was more impulsive with her emotions, and was always sharper with her tongue than with a sword, so Caterina only sees her in Illario.

I just love the idea that Caterina can't look beyond the surface and see who her grandsons really are because on some level she can't see past the ghosts reflected in their eyes. She can't see that the quiet brown eyed boy is is more of the gentle hearted rebel, and the one with blue eyes and a shining, fake smile is the ruthless leader who would do anything she asked.
