2. Glorified Cult Leader
Dubai
"So Daniel, do you have any questions?"
The reporter stares at Louis in near astonishment, removing his glasses to rub his aching head.
"About the woman with the face full of teeth? Yes, I have fucking questions! You had that one in disguise this whole time" Daniel motions to Armand with his glasses "Should I assume there's a demon lady pretending to dust shelves in a sexy maid uniform somewhere around here?"
Louis crosses an ankle over his knee with a slight laugh, Armand's arm loops over the back of the back of the sofa and rubs his hand. "No. Nothing like that. Patience Daniel and good things will come, let the story take you where it needs you to be."
___
Paris
The Rusalka moves gracefully through the vast library shelves, fingers gently grazing cover after cover. Heeled shoes moving after the other creating an echo off the marble floors. Her head raises, no longer lost in thought- she sniffs the air.
"You can come out, you're not nearly as sneaky as you seem to think you are."
A tapping of leather soles against the floor much like her own sounds from behind her.
The well-dressed leader she met the other evening walks out from behind a shelf, he leans against the wood shifting his weight onto one hip, placing his hand in his coat pocket with well-rehearsed grace.
Her eyes trace over him and then roll “If you’re trying to kill me I wish you luck, it’s not easy.”
“Who says I wish to end your life?”
“Your kind is territorial, I haven’t had the best experiences in the past, can you blame me for running? Not to mention your man chased me, not a very good first impression.”
“Santiago is not my man.” His stoicism falls face curling in disgust at the accusation.
“Right, you’re paired with the bookworm.” Her eyes shine and something swipes sideways, blinking slowly like an alligator.
“You’re no longer deemed a threat. Siren. But you’re perspective, we could have a place for one of your kind in the coven. So long as you behave of course.”
“Wrong.”
“Hmm?” His eyebrows perk up and his head tilts.
“Not a siren. Similar, but I don’t sing. And I don’t lure unfaithful men to the depths. I just eat the evil ones, it’s a lot less dramatic that way.”
“You get to define what evil is?”
“Yes. You, vampires, are so strange…you love each other so purely, even when you hate. It’s so obvious, but you keep screwing each other over? I can’t tell if it’s a self-preservation instinct or not. I think you’d be a lot happier if your covens were big love fests instead of the whole master-servant dynamic.”
Armand scowls, fangs dipping slightly with a cat-like hiss. “You think yourself omniscient? We need structure, solitary vampires either wither by their lonesome until they meet the flame or sow chaos in their wake. Humans always search for more, money, power, love, knowledge, more. Why hold on to this part of your humanity when you can live content? A part of something better, the coven offers such.”
The rusalka laughs and her melodious voice has a sharp screech-like tinge to it- “Content! Oh, so great coven leader!” She cries clasping her hands together, pressing them against her face. “Who surrounds himself with sycophants, Truly the best representation of a content being, yeah? You vampires want just as much as I do. You’re not built to be lonely, companionship is in your blood. So don’t preach to me about contentment you glorified cult leader.”
Armand steps closer, face inches from the rusalka towering over her, he removes his sunglasses- tucking them into his chest pocket he looks deep into her eyes and calmly with a sneer says “You’re vulnerable. It makes you weak. We are not the only coven in France and you will not be able to run forever. Unless of course, you aim to end your studies so quickly after arriving.”
“How’d you…?”
“I may not be able to read your mind but this place is flooding with your peers. It’s quite the story you’ve concocted for yourself, the best lies are rooted in some truth are the not?”
“My vulnerability is my power, just as yours could be. Screw your rules and your laws, going behind each others backs to make things end up your way. Just to end in failure. May it be a century or a millennia from now, but still failure.”
“Then let me offer you this. Join the coven. Prove to them why the laws should change.”

Dubai
“Is this my cue?” Daniel had been imagining this voice since it was first described to him but the reality was something else altogether. “Sorry, I didn’t have time to pick up a maid’s uniform. I know how much you like the Univision style.” The woman rounds the furniture flashing a smile at the two vampires and perching herself on the arm of the journalist's seat.
“You still smell of him.” Armand’s lip curls and Louis looks to the tempered windows for a distraction.
“I didn’t have time to swim yet either. You’re the two avoiding him. I made no such promise, I’m not involved.”
“Wait! Please tell me she isn’t taking about-”
“Lestat.” Louis interrupts as Daniel looks to the Rusalka with a look that borders on horror. “There’s an agreement in place. When she’s here she doesn’t discuss him, when she’s there she won’t discuss us.”
“It's a horrendous deal, really.”
“HOW DOES SHE EVEN KNOW LESTAT?!”
Louis stands and stretches his arms to his companions, each of them placing a hand in one of his. “This seems like a natural breaking point, you should rest Daniel. We’ll continue tomorrow.” Louis immediately begins to escort his partners out of the room leaving the reporter in shock.
“WHAT KIND OF HORSE-SHIT DO YOU MEAN BY NATURAL BREAKING POINT?!”

Doll House: A Jude Bellingham + Orginal Character Erotic Series.
18+ Minors DNI
Chapter 13
Although Jude valued the opinions of his loved ones, the playful teasing from Marcus didn’t possess the bite it used to.
He’d mindlessly told Marcus that he had dropped Tori at a doctor’s appointment one morning before training. Honestly, he hadn’t put the same thought into it as his best friend did; that morning, she had stayed over at his place. He had time to kill, and she had somewhere to be.
Jude didn't mind his brother's playful remarks and had no issue reminding him that, regardless of the person he had in his life, he was still very much a single man.
However, things took a less playful turn when the following Thursday arrived. Marcus and his girlfriend Charlotte had come to spend the weekend in Madrid to watch Jude and his teammates as they took on rivals Barcelona. With them, they had brought Anastasia, a friend of Charlotte’s who was previously familiar with Jude.
Letting out a breath he’d been holding as he sat on the edge of his bed, Jude pinched the bridge of his nose as his mind ran wild with thoughts of Tori.
“What am I supposed to tell her?” Jude asked Marcus as he opened his eyes, his voice tinged with frustration. Marcus leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, an amused glint in his eyes.
“Honestly, I didn't mean to put you in hot water like this. But when you introduced me to Tori in Dubai, I thought she was just your piece for the trip. Had I known it was more, I would have never brought Anastasia along.” Marcus snickered, a hint of remorse creeping into his tone.
“She means more than that,” Jude replied sharply, a flash of irritation sparking in his chest. He instantly regretted the bite in his voice but kept his eyes locked on Marcus, who raised an eyebrow.
“Oh? So, you’re telling me you and Tori are… more?” Marcus pressed, his voice lacking the amusement it once held. “When you told me you were single over the phone, I figured Anastasia would be a welcomed surprise.”
“I am single, but the things we’ve been doing… the way we've been moving, I'd be doing Tori dirty by entertaining anyone else,” Jude divulged.
“The way you've been moving?” Marcus repeated.
“The appointment I took her to was for her to start birth control,” Jude blurted out, his gaze flicking to the floor as he felt the heat creep into his cheeks. He could practically hear the gears turning in Marcus's mind.
“Fuck,” Marcus said slowly, processing the information. “You're really feeling her then. This isn't just some fling?”
Jude sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “It’s not. I care about her, and it’s becoming more than just physical.” He hesitated, his thoughts tumbling together unceremoniously.
“Look,” Marcus said, straightening up, the teasing tone dropping altogether. “We can get Anastasia to stay in a hotel for the weekend, but she is still going to be in Madrid with us. She is going to cross paths with Tori continuously.”
Jude leaned back on the bed, feeling the weight of Marcus's words settle over him like an unwelcome blanket. The thought of Tori and Anastasia interacting filled him with a mix of anxiety and dread. He had known Anastasia sporadically during their former years, her sharp wit and playful demeanor often leaving an impression, but their connection fizzled out over time. Since meeting Tori, Jude’s attention hadn't been anywhere else, regardless of titles.
"What do you suggest then?" Jude asked, running his fingers through his hair in frustration. The room echoed with uncertainty.
Marcus pushed off from the doorframe, stepping closer. “Look, just be upfront with Tori. If you’re serious about her, let her know what’s happening. You don’t want her to feel blindsided or like you have no regard for her feelings.”
Jude nodded, the weight of Marcus's advice settling heavily on his shoulders. "You're right. I just... I didn't plan on this. Tori isn't my girlfriend, but she is where my head is and a priority of mine," His voice trailed off, uncertainty creeping in.
“Then make it official in your head first,” Marcus advised, his tone steady and encouraging. “You don’t have to label everything right now. Just be honest about how you feel and where you stand. If she knows where your head is, there should be no trouble.”
Jude exhaled, mentally wrestling with the idea. Would laying his cards on the table only complicate things further? Would it change the light, free-flowing nature of what they shared? Yet a small voice reminded him that avoiding the conversation wouldn’t help.
“Theoretically, but she's going to be here soon, and when she turns up, a girl that I used to fuck is going to be sharing space with the girl I am with. Tori is understanding, not a pushover.” Jude spoke, the tension in his voice revealing the swirl of emotions churning inside him.
Marcus considered what he said momentarily, his expression shifting from playful to severe. “Look, it’s going to be awkward, but if she’s as understanding as you say, then she’ll handle it. Being upfront is the only way to avoid misunderstandings. Trust me—communication is everything. If you want me to, I can explain that this was on me.”
Jude felt Marcus's seriousness resonate within him. Communication had always been essential in relationships, yet he had taken the easy road, gliding along on the surface without diving deeper into what was unfolding with Tori. His heart pounded with the possibilities that awaited—both enticing and terrifying.
“Yeah, but what if I mess this up?” Jude sighed, searching Marcus’s face for answers that would put him at ease. “It’s just… this is all new territory for me. I genuinely enjoy what Tori and I have; I don't want to fuck it up.”
Marcus stepped forward, placing a reassuring hand on Jude's shoulder. “You won’t mess it up unless you don't communicate. Trust your instincts, Jude. You’ve got this. You know Tori better than anyone. If she’s as special to you as you say, then you owe it to her to be honest.”
Jude nodded slowly, allowing Marcus's words to sink in. He could feel the weight of responsibility pressing down, and with it, a fierce determination began to bubble up within him. He cared about Tori more than he had admitted to himself, even in the solitude of his bedroom.
“Okay,” Jude finally said, his voice steadier. “I’ll talk to her when she gets here. It might be messy, but I’d rather deal with the mess than leave anything to chance.”
“Good,” Marcus replied with a nod. “And hey, if it helps, I’ll look into a hotel for Anastasia to stay at. Charlotte and I will take her there once we figure everything out.”
Jude felt a wave of relief wash over him at the thought of his friends intervening, easing the tension that had begun to unravel him. "Thanks, man. I appreciate it. Just thinking about Tori and Anastasia in the same room sends my stomach into knots."
"Understandable," Marcus said with a sympathetic smile. "But you know Tori well enough to handle it. Just be honest, and the rest will fall into place."
Jude leaned back on the bed, staring at the ceiling as his thoughts drifted to Tori. He could still feel the warmth of her body next to his, the laughter they shared over late-night snacks, and the way she challenged him to be better both on and off the field. It felt different with her—more substantial than any casual fling. He needed her to know how much he valued what they had built.
After a moment of silence, Marcus clapped Jude on the shoulder. “I’ll let you have some time to gather your thoughts. Just call me if you need anything, okay?”
“Yeah, thanks. I’ll definitely take you up on that.”
As Marcus left the room, Jude's heart raced with anticipation and anxiety. He pulled out his phone, glancing at the time. Tori would arrive any minute now, and as ready as he was to lay his cards on the table, he couldn't deny the nerves that swirled inside of him.
He had already ironed things out where Anastasia was concerned. She knew she had been invited by mistake, and despite his look of embarrassment as he explained he had someone in his life now, she had been gracious, understanding his position. It was a good start but only heightened Jude's awareness of the delicate situation.
The anticipation felt like a weight pressing down on him with each passing moment. What if Tori had other expectations? What if she saw their relationship differently? He couldn’t shake the doubt but knew he had to deal with things head-on. He couldn't afford to leave things up to interpretation.
The sound of his doorbell ringing through his spacious home made his heart leap into his throat. There it was—his chance to face the music. The weight of his indecision felt almost unbearable as he took a deep breath and went downstairs to the door, his mind racing with thoughts of what to say.
He opened the door, and there stood Tori, a smile breaking across her face as she spotted him. She looked radiant, her hair cascading over her shoulders, her eyes shining with a warmth that eased and intensified his nerves.
“Hey!” she smiled sweetly, stepping across the threshold and into Jude’s arms.
Jude enveloped her in a warm embrace, pulling her close and savoring the familiar scent of her hair—a mix of coconut and something sweet, truly Tori. For a moment, he lost himself in the comfort of her presence, letting her laughter wash over him. It was a fleeting distraction from the weight of the conversation looming ahead.
“Hey! You made it,” he replied, his grin matching hers. “You look incredible.”
“Thanks!” she giggled softly. “I just pulled on the first thing I could find when I got home from rehearsal.”
Jude's heart swelled at her radiant smile, but the thrill of the moment was tempered by the conversation he knew he had to initiate. He wanted nothing more than to relish their easy banter and the tangible connection between them. Yet, the gravity of his unspoken feelings weighed heavily on him.
Stepping back slightly, he gestured for her to come inside. “Tori, we need to talk.”
The lightness in Tori’s expression shifted to one of curiosity, her brows knitting together in gentle concern. “Talk? About what?”
Jude closed the door behind them, feeling an electric tension settle in the room. He needed to keep his tone casual, but the weight of his words felt monumental. “It’s... about us and the weekend ahead.”
Tori tilted her head, taking a step closer, her gaze searching his face for answers. “Is everything okay?”
“Yeah, everything’s fine,” he reassured her quickly, wanting to dispel any sense of unease. “It’s just that Marcus and Charlotte brought along Anastasia, and I didn’t realize how complicated it could get.”
He watched Tori’s face, her expression shifting as she processed the information. “Anastasia? Who is she...?”
“She’s a friend of Marcus’ and someone I—” Jude hesitated, searching for a way to frame it delicately.
“And she's here in your house?” Tori asked cautiously.
Jude nodded, feeling a rush of heat creep into his cheeks. “Yeah, but it’s not what you’re thinking. We had a history, but it’s... it’s not the same anymore. I just wanted to be upfront with you because I care about where we’re headed.”
Tori’s brow furrowed as she stepped back, crossing her arms as if to shield herself from what she was perceiving. Jude could see the surprise and confusion play across her beautiful features, and he felt an immediate pang of regret for springing this on her.
“Okay. So, Anastasia is staying with you for the weekend, too?” she prompted, her voice laced with uncertainty.
“Marcus is sorting a hotel for her,” Jude replied, his heart pounding at the building tension in the air. “But she will be around this weekend.”
Tori took a deep breath, her eyes narrowing slightly as she processed his words. “I appreciate you being honest with me, Jude, but why didn’t you mention her earlier? I wouldn't have come here.”
Jude swallowed hard, feeling the weight of her disappointment. “I want you here, Tori,” he said, his voice steady but low. “I didn’t know she was coming over with Marcus and Charlotte until they landed earlier.”
Tori regarded him with a mix of incredulity and concern, her eyes searching his for sincerity. “Do you have feelings for her? I mean… she’s from your past. What if she’s trying to rekindle something with you?”
“No!” Jude immediately countered, desperation creeping into his voice. “It’s not like that at all, I promise you. Anastasia and I have history, but it’s ancient history. I haven’t thought about her or anyone else in that way since you came into my life; she’s been nothing more than a past chapter.”
Tori’s gaze softened slightly, but the tension still hung thick in the space between them. “Then why does it feel like you're gearing me up to walk into some kind of competition?” The vulnerability in her question cut deeper than Jude anticipated.
Jude's ex had turned up unannounced with his best friend and his girlfriend. Regardless of what Jude had to say, their lives were obviously intertwined.
Jude felt the weight of Tori’s words settle heavily in the air, the silence between them stretching uncomfortably. “It’s not a competition,” he insisted, his voice tinged with desperation. He stepped closer, trying to bridge the emotional gap that had sprung up. “I care about you, Tori. I thought we were building something special, and I still want that. I want you.”
Tori tilted her head, eyes searching his for the truth amidst his assurances. “You’re saying all the right things, but this situation is… complicated, Jude. I just don’t want to feel like I’m the second choice while you have someone from your past around.”
“I get that,” he said, his heart racing as he grasped her hands, holding her gaze. “But I’m not looking back; I’m looking forward—at you.”
Her expression softened slightly, but unease lingered in her eyes. “So, if she’s here for the weekend, how do we navigate that? I mean, it’s not exactly easy to just pretend everything’s fine.”
Jude took a deep breath, steeling himself for the weight of the conversation ahead. “I want you to know that you are my priority. We can talk about it if it becomes uncomfortable for you, and I’ll handle it. I’d rather lose my pride than jeopardize what we have.”
Tori’s lips parted as if to speak, but her voice faltered for a moment before she found her words. “You realize how it sounds, right? You’re telling me that you’re serious about us, yet we’re dropping right into this chaos with someone who shares your past… It feels unfair to me.”
“Unfair?” Jude echoed, frustration bubbling beneath the surface as he struggled to keep his voice calm. “No, what wouldn’t be fair is if I didn’t bring this up with you. I want to be transparent. You deserve that, Tori. I have feelings for you—real feelings—and I’m trying to be honest about everything. I’ve only had my focus on you.”
Tori's brows furrowed, her expression flickering as she considered his words. “I appreciate your honesty, I do…” she trailed off, her voice softening. “But it’s just hard to reconcile that when Anastasia is literally right here... The thought of you two being around each other, of you having any history—it’s crazy.”
Jude could sense the turmoil brewing within her, the agitation playing out across her features. He felt the walls he once thought would hold a sense of safety now beginning to crumble under the weight of their reality.
“I wish it were simpler,” he said earnestly, running a hand through his hair. “But I can’t ignore the fact that she’s here for the weekend. That said, I also can’t ignore how I feel about you. You mean so much more to me than whatever I had with anyone else in the past.”
Tori blinked, the strength in her posture weakening slightly as she searched his eyes for sincerity. “You mean that?”
“More than anything,” he replied, taking a step closer, allowing the honesty in his gaze to shine through. Hooking a finger beneath her chin, he tilted her face toward his, searching her eyes for the truth of her feelings. "You’re different.“
Her gaze softened, though the tension still lingered. She was clearly trying to reconcile the feelings swirling within her. "Jude, I don't want to come off as jealous or insecure. I'm just trying to understand everything because it feels really overwhelming right now."
“I get that,” he said, voice low and sincere. “Please just trust that I won't do anything to disrespect or hurt you.”
Tori gave a slight nod, her eyes searching his, and for a moment, they stood in silence, each feeling the weight of what lay between them. Jude could see the internal battle playing out in her eyes—as if she was trying to make sense of it all while she wrestled with the emotions that threatened to spill over.
“Look,” Jude said softly, trying to coax her into a more relaxed state. “Let's take this one step at a time. I want you to be comfortable this weekend, and if that means we need to set some boundaries regarding Anastasia, I'm all for it.”
Her expression shifted slightly, gratitude dawning amid the uncertainty. “I appreciate that, honestly. It’s just... this feeling of sharing space with someone that I know you’ve been with before. It’s unsettling.”
“I understand,” Jude replied, his heart aching for her. “But I promise you, my focus is on you. Anastasia is just an echo of my past. Can we work together to make things feel okay for both of us? I want this weekend to be special for us.”
Tori took a deep breath, her resolve mingling with her vulnerability. “Okay,” she said finally, her voice steadier. “I think as long as you keep communicating, I can manage. It’s just hard because—”
"Because you want assurance," Jude finished for her gently, his heart pounding under the weight of her words. "I get it; you're not just navigating my past; we're trying to establish a future."
Tori nodded, a flicker of relief spreading across her features as she stepped closer to him. The warmth of her body eased the tension in the air. "Exactly. I don't want to feel like I'm constantly competing for your attention. I want you to be present with me, Jude."
"Then let's make that the priority," Jude said firmly. He brushed a lock of hair behind her ear, marveling at the softness of her skin and the tangible warmth between them.
Her breath hitched slightly as he leaned in a bit closer, the air crackling with unspoken tension. “I promise you, Tori. I want this weekend to be about us. No games, no distractions.”
Tori's eyes shimmered with a mix of hope and resolve. “Okay, I trust you. But you have to understand, this is an adjustment.” She paused, her expression softening as she stepped back just a fraction, realizing they stood on the precipice of something deeper.
“I understand,” Jude replied, positioning himself closer as he sought her gaze, his hands coming to rest on her hips as their eyes met.
Leaning into her, a soft hum ripped from Jude’s throat as their lips met in a delicate, tentative kiss. It was soft at first, carrying the weight of their conversation, but it quickly blossomed into something more passionate and urgent. The world around them faded, and it was just the two of them, their connection deepening in the embrace.
Tori responded to Jude’s intensity, her arms winding around his neck as she melted into him. He could feel her heartbeat against his chest, a comforting rhythm that synced with his own. It was as if they were both reminding each other just how right this felt—beneath the uncertainties of the weekend and the looming presence of Anastasia, what mattered was their shared connection.
Lifting Tori off the ground so her legs wrapped around his waist, Jude deepened the kiss, savoring the taste of her lips, the softness of her body pressed against his.
A soft gasp escaped Tori's lips, her fingers tangling in Jude's hair as she nestled closer to him. The sensation of her warmth against him made his heart race, igniting a fire within that he hadn't realized he craved so much. They stood there for a moment, forgotten in the world outside—a world that suddenly seemed far less important than the intimacy they shared in that instant.
“Jude…” she breathed against his lips, her eyes glimmering with an emotion he could only begin to understand but desperately wanted to explore.
“Yeah?” he whispered, his voice barely above a murmur as he pulled back just enough to meet her gaze, searching for answers in the depths of her chocolate-brown eyes. The seriousness of their earlier conversation still lingered, but the electric thrill of their kiss had shifted the atmosphere from tension to something deeply intimate.
"I just don’t want to lose what we have," Tori admitted softly, her fingers sliding from his hair to rest on his shoulders. “This weekend, with Anastasia... I can do it, but I need you to promise me we’ll navigate it all together. No bullshit.”
“No bullshit,” Jude repeated before his lips were back on hers, drawing her closer yet again, letting the warmth of their connection dispel the remnants of tension. It was a promise that they both felt, evident in the way their bodies instinctively responded to one another.
Unbeknownst to both Tori and Jude, Anastasia stood just out of sight, watching them from the hallway, her expression caught between surprise and intrigue. The way Jude held Tori, the softness of their shared kiss, stirred something in her — a curious mix of nostalgia and an unshakeable feeling of jealousy. She had known Jude once upon a time, and while their past had been filled with thrilling moments and hot sex, it was evident to her that she was witnessing something deeper.
Anastasia felt her heart tug as she observed the undeniable connection radiating from Jude and Tori. Memories of their brief romance flickered in her mind, but they felt distant now, overshadowed by the intensity of what she was witnessing. She had come to Madrid expecting a weekend filled with laughter and good times, but the sight of Jude and Tori together ignited a complicated mix of feelings.
Should she interrupt? Should she turn and leave? The moment felt so intimate that she almost felt like an intruder. But she was also acutely aware of the fact that she needed to assert herself in this situation. This was her chance to rekindle something with Jude, and seeing him with Tori stirred something deep within her—a sense of longing for what they once had but also a realization that things had changed.
As she hesitated in the shadows, Charlotte appeared beside her, raising an eyebrow at the scene before them. “Looks like we’ve interrupted something,” she whispered, a smile creeping onto her face.
Anastasia shot her a look, a mix of irritation and contemplation. “I didn’t expect to walk into this,” she replied quietly, her eyes still locked on Jude and Tori. “Why didn’t Marcus mention he was seeing anyone seriously?”
Charlotte shrugged, crossing her arms. “Maybe he didn't know either. But Jude looks pretty smitten, don’t you think?”
Anastasia's heart sank a little at Charlotte's words. The chemistry between Jude and Tori was palpable, the way they moved together like two pieces of a puzzle that had finally found their match. It stung to see him so at ease with someone new, someone who clearly brought out a different side of him—one that she hadn’t seen in a long time.
“Yeah, I guess,” Anastasia replied, forcing a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. “But that doesn’t change the fact that I’m here now. I can't just back down. I need to make my presence known.”
“You sure about that?” Charlotte asked, her voice laced with concern. “It looks like they’re pretty serious. Do you really want to interrupt?”
Anastasia hesitated, torn between her desire to reclaim what was once hers and the realization that she might have already lost.
“We’ll see where the weekend takes us I guess,” she said, a hint of determination creeping into her voice. “But I can’t just sit back and watch them together. I owe it to myself to at least try.”
Charlotte regarded her with a mixture of sympathy and caution. “Just be careful, okay? You don’t want to disrupt something that seems to be blossoming between them. Sometimes, letting go is harder than holding on.”
Anastasia felt the weight of her words, but a spark of defiance ignited within her. “I know what I want, Charlotte. I want to remind Jude of what we had. He hasn’t really moved on, not completely. I could see it in his eyes when I got here.”
“He has arranged for you to go to a hotel instead of staying here with us; I think he's making his intentions pretty clear.” Charlotte pointed out.
Anastasia's resolve wavered slightly at Charlotte's words, but the fire in her belly refused to be extinguished. “Just because he’s with Tori doesn’t mean he’s forgotten about me entirely. We had something real, and I know that part of him still misses it.”
Charlotte shook her head, concern etched across her features. “You might be right, but you also might be setting yourself up for disappointment. Jude looks genuinely happy with Tori, and that’s not something to take lightly.”
Anastasia sighed, her heart heavy with conflict. “I get that. But I can’t just let him slip away without at least trying to remind him of what we had. I deserve that chance.”
Charlotte studied her for a moment, her expression softening. “Just be careful, okay? You don’t want to hurt anyone, least of all yourself.”
“Trust me, I know where the lines are,” Anastasia replied, a steely determination settling into her posture. “But I’m not going to let this weekend go by without making my intentions known. If I have to compete, then I will.”
With that, Charlotte stepped forward to make her presence known. Unlike her friend, she was excited to meet the girl who had Jude so captivated. The tension that had been hanging in the air felt thick and charged, and Charlotte sensed the unease radiating from both Anastasia and the couple in the living room.
“Hey, you two!” Charlotte called out, her voice light and cheerful as she approached Jude and Tori. “We didn’t mean to interrupt! We just wanted to introduce ourselves.”
Jude and Tori broke apart, their cheeks flushed from the shared kiss, and Jude felt a wave of heat wash over him as he briefly met the eyes of a small segment of his past. Tori’s expression shifted from surprise to a mask of polite friendliness, though he could feel the tension radiating from her.
Jude's heart raced as he sensed the shift in the atmosphere. Tori's expression transformed, a cautious smile replacing the warmth that had just enveloped them. He could feel the weight of the moment pressing down on him, the air thick with unspoken words and the intensity of the situation.
Tori wasn't his girlfriend by definition, but she was undoubtedly his.
And now, with Anastasia stepping into the room, the boundaries of that definition felt precariously thin. Jude could sense the tension coiling tightly around them, and he was acutely aware of how much was at stake.
“Hi, I’m Tori,” she said, extending a hand toward Charlotte, trying to maintain her composure despite the whirlwind of emotions swirling inside. “It’s nice to meet you.”
Charlotte smiled brightly, taking Tori’s hand warmly. “Nice to meet you too! I’ve heard a lot about you from Marcus. He mentioned you’ve been keeping Jude on his toes.”
Jude could see Tori’s smile falter for just a moment, a flicker of uncertainty crossing her features before she regained her footing. “Yeah, I guess you could say that,” she replied, her tone light, but Jude could hear the underlying tension in her voice.
Anastasia stepped forward, her presence commanding yet casual. “And I’m Anastasia,” she said, her gaze sweeping over Tori with a hint of curiosity. “It’s great to meet you.” The words were innocuous enough, but Jude could sense the underlying challenge in her tone.
“Likewise,” Tori replied, her voice steady but her body language betraying her discomfort. She shot Jude a quick glance, and he could see the uncertainty etched on her face.
Jude felt the weight of the moment pressing down on him as he stood between Tori and Anastasia, two women from different chapters of his life. The apprehension was palpable, and the air felt charged with unspoken words and emotions.
“So, what brings you to Madrid?” Tori asked, her voice steady despite the flutter of nerves in her stomach. She was trying to maintain a sense of grace and poise, but Jude could see the flicker of uncertainty in her eyes.
Anastasia smiled, her demeanor confident as she replied, “I came along with Marcus and Charlotte to enjoy the weekend and catch up with old friends.” The words hung in the air like a challenge, and Jude could feel the heat rising in his cheeks.
The tension in the room felt like a live wire, crackling with unspoken words and unresolved emotions. Jude stood between Tori and Anastasia, acutely aware of the weight of the moment. He could feel the air thickening with uncertainty and the palpable energy of two worlds colliding.
Tori took a deep breath, her gaze steadying on Anastasia. “I hope you enjoy your time here. This city has so much to offer.” Her voice was polite, but Jude could sense the underlying tension, the way she was bracing herself for any potential blows.
Anastasia flashed a bright smile, though Jude could see the challenge lurking beneath the surface. “Thanks! I intend to make the most of it. It’s always nice to reconnect.” Her gaze flicked to Jude, and he could feel the unspoken challenge in her words, a bold reminder of their history.
As Marcus rounded the corner, his eased smile faltered as he realized what he had walked into.
“Is everything okay here?” he asked, the tension in the air heavy as he came to stand beside his girlfriend.
He anticipated Tori and Anastasia’s meeting being awkward, and had he known the seriousness of Jude’s feelings for Tori, he would have never taken it upon himself to invite her.
Now, standing in the midst of the consequences of his decision, Marcus felt its weight heavily. In hindsight, he should have asked Jude before inviting anyone.
“Yeah, everything’s fine,” Jude replied, his voice steady but strained as he tried to navigate through the uncertainty now pulsing in the room.
“I’m just getting to know Jude’s surprise guest,” Tori added, her tone matching Jude’s effort to play it cool despite the undeniable tension between her and Anastasia.
“Sorry about that, Tori,” Marcus said, immediately recognizing the discomfort in the air. “I should’ve given Jude a heads-up before inviting anyone.”
“It’s all right,” Tori said, forcing a smile, though Jude could see a hint of hurt behind her eyes. “It’s all good; no, if you'd excuse me, I'm going to go and put my bag upstairs in Jude’s room.”
Turning on her heel, Tori grabbed her weekend bag and made her way upstairs towards Jude's bedroom, with him following close behind. This action didn't go unnoticed by Anastasia.
Anastasia's gaze shifted between the two of them, a tight knot of jealousy forming in her stomach as she watched Tori ascend the stairs. Jude’s attention was solely focused on Tori, and the flicker of disappointment in Anastasia’s chest grew.
“Jude, wait!” she called out, her voice cutting through the heavy air as she stepped forward, determination shining in her eyes.
Jude paused at the base of the stairs, glancing over his shoulder at Anastasia, his brow furrowing slightly in apprehension. “What?”
“What’s your plan here?” she asked, crossing her arms, her tone assertive yet not unkind. “Are you just going to ignore what happened between us?”
“Anastasia—” Jude began, but she cut him off.
“No, hear me out,” she insisted, her expression shifting from frustration to something softer, more vulnerable.
“Anastasia, I can’t. Tori is my priority; she’s the girl I want.” Anastasia’s expression flashed with disappointment, a mix of old feelings and raw emotion that tugged at the edges of her heart. “So that’s it? You’re really willing to just brush our past aside because of this… this new thing with her?”
Jude took a deep breath, his heart pounding with the weight of her gaze. “Yes, I am. With you and anyone else.”
Heading up the stairs without a second glance at Anastasia, he followed in the same path that Tori had taken into his bedroom.
As Jude entered his room, he found Tori already setting her bag down on the floor, her back turned to him. Jude took a moment to soak in the sight of her—how at ease she was in his space, almost like she belonged there. The warmth of the moment felt bittersweet as the weight of their conversation threatened to return, but he couldn't shake the need to reach out to her.
“Tori,” he began softly, taking a step closer. She turned to face him, her expression a mixture of apprehension and vulnerability.
“Hey,” she said, her voice steady but her eyes betraying a swirl of emotions. The uncertainty hanging in the air between them felt suffocating, a looming cloud of unresolved tension.
“I know things just got a bit… complicated,” he continued, his hands finding a resting place on his hips as he tried to gauge her mood. “I didn’t mean for you to feel like there was a competition or that you’d walked into some mess.”
Tori let out a breath, her shoulders relaxing just a fraction. “I know. It's just… hard, Jude. I didn’t expect to deal with this as soon as I walked in the door. Learning that someone who used to be part of your life is going to be around all weekend—it's unsettling.”
“I understand,” Jude replied, moving closer until he could reach for her hand. He squeezed it gently, hoping to convey how much he valued her presence. “But you are the one who matters to me. All I want is to focus on you this weekend. I want us to be okay.”
Tori's gaze softened as she looked down at their intertwined fingers. “I appreciate that, Jude. I really do. It's just that I feel like I'm walking on eggshells here. The last thing I want is for you to feel pressured because of me.”
“What I want is for you to feel secure,” he said earnestly, the intensity of his words hanging between them. “If that means I have to set boundaries with Anastasia or make it clear to her that I’m choosing you, then that’s what I’ll do.”
She met his gaze, a glimmer of hope igniting in her eyes. “You mean it?”
“Absolutely,” he said, nodding firmly. The realization of how much she meant to him ignited a fire he hadn’t fully acknowledged before—a resolve to ensure that Tori knew she had him.

“Shhhhh, Boy.” Louis admonished, landing another, lighter blow in the exact same spot. “You’re louder than your playlist tonight. It’s been too long in between our little sessions, I think. Your discipline is slipping.”
“S-sorry, Maitre.” Rashid whispered and wiped his face with the back of his hand, making an attempt to get himself under control. Daniel was rooted to the spot as surely as if he’d been paralyzed.
“Tsk. Just as I feared,” Louis said, and dropped the flog to the floor. “We’ve awoken our guest.”
“Nope, no you haven’t.” Daniel ground out as Louis turned to face him with a smirk and a raised eyebrow. “I’m not here. Or If I am, I’ve only been here for a second,” he rambled, flushing all the way to the tips of his ears. “And I’m going. Gone. Just direct me to the nearest eye bleach station.”
OR - Daniel wakes up in the middle of the night in Dubai to strange noises, and finds the source of the sound.

This was supposed to be a part of the TDVZine but unfortunately due to work-related stuff I had to drop out, however thanks to all the lovely folks there and especially to Annis for betaing for me! I so appreciate all of you!
Without further ado, enjoy Hypnotic
CWs: dubious consent, hypno kink, blood drinking
———
Daniel knew that would be impossible. Though what Armand had done in hiding his memories from him was awful for a number of reasons, Daniel knew himself. He wouldn’t have been able to move on in any other way. The vague memory of the original interview and the lingering royalties from the book had remained, and that was enough of a distraction, but to remember Armand and not go back to that? He could’ve never had a life with the memories of what they’d had.
As Daniel ruminated on whether or not to postpone his departure from Dubai and stared at a blank document on his computer screen, he didn’t hear Armand’s near silent entry into his bedroom until the door snapped quietly shut. Daniel raised his eyes from the screen but didn’t turn around, giving a huff, “Yes, I’m still leaving in two days, Armand,” he muttered shortly, hoping to nip this conversation in the bud before it could start.
No response came except the barely audible sound of Armand sitting on the edge of the bed behind Daniel until he turned around with a mildly irritated look. “Can I help you, or have you just come to watch me?”
Armand’s expression was unusually pensive, but his gaze was piercing as he met Daniel’s eyes. In the silence that stretched between them, Daniel’s eyes flitted down to take in Armand’s unusually disheveled appearance. His robe was loosely tied, exposing a good deal of his chest, though it was artfully draped over his lap - Daniel thought it safe to assume that Armand wore nothing beneath it - and his bare feet barely brushed the floor as he stared back at Daniel with wide, unblinking eyes.
“Oh I know what this is,” Daniel started, rolling his eyes, “don’t even-”
“Stay, Daniel,” Armand’s soft voice interrupted.
“-think about it,” Daniel finished, as though the interruption hadn’t happened. “You can’t make me stay, Armand. I need time, alright? I can’t just,” Daniel gestured vaguely with his hands and shook his head.
“Can’t I?” Armand’s voice was low, and the quiet threat brought Daniel’s attention to Armand’s face once more, but this time, he found he couldn’t look away from his eyes. It was as though the world melted away as he looked into them, and it sent a sharp stab of desire through him. Perhaps delaying the trip wouldn’t be…
“Oh no,” Daniel knew what this was, fought against it as he had during the interview with Louis, until he managed to tear his eyes away, shaking his head as though to clear it. “Don’t you fucking dare.” Daniel’s heart raced as he tried to rationalize what the hell had just happened. Armand had overstepped a boundary he hadn’t even known to set with him, and yet…
“I was only proving my point,” Armand sighed, “I don’t intend to force you to stay,” he tilted his head to the side as he watched Daniel, and though there was no hint of a smile on his expression, there was a touch of amusement in his voice. “Some things never change, do they?”

SO what are you thought?!!!!!!! (On the new trailer)!
I mean, my inital thoughts were pure static electricity. 😵💫 By the time the trailer was released, it was nearly 1 am, we'd already seen more photos of the cast than the past 6 months combined, we got a release date that's the morning after Eurovision(!!) plus a full panel interview. I don't think I could've handled Rolin's full trailer last night, tbh, so I'm kinda glad we only got a short one!
I needed to sleep, process, watch it a few more times, and THEN lighten it all up and literally watch it frame by frame in order to process it properly. I really struggle to take anything in when the cuts are so rapid fire, and this helped me to focus on details.
Overall, there's nothing I'm hugely surprised by, but it doesn't take away from the excitement of actually seeing it.
I'm loving seeing Louis sparring with his hallucinations of Lestat, the Daniel x Loumand interactions in the Dubai penthouse look absolutely delicious (grab the popcorn), and Delainey is going to absolutely KILL IT (no pun intended) as Claudia.
There are a few scenes I can't quite make out that I'm still pondering over, like:
Who's that woman falling through the floor?
Why does Louis seem to collapse after sharing that moment with Armand?
If the red lighting scene is Louis in a photography dark room, then why does his shoulder look to be bare?
Why are the theatre vampires raising Claudia up on the chair? Celebration, or initiation?
Whose hand has the fire gift in the tunnel?
And still - the hand reaching up from the earth - revenant, or Trashstat??
And that press photo of Lestat carrying the crucifix? The details POP when you brighten it up and examine the scenery... Very intriguing indeed, especially if you've read TVL.

The Bow, Calgary (No. 3)
The concrete foundation was continuously poured over 36 hours on May 11 and 12, 2008, being the largest of its kind in Canada, and third largest in the world after the Howard Hughes Center in Los Angeles and the Sama Tower (Al Durrah Tower) in Dubai. Some 14,000 cubic metres (18,000 cu yd) of concrete filled the 3,000-square-metre (30,000 sq ft) foundation.
Erection of the above-ground steel superstructure began in October 2008 with the installation of the first of two Favelle Favco heavy-lift tower cranes.
Construction was briefly halted in December 2008 due to a $400 million shortage of financing needed to finish the job. The project continued to move forward, despite the unresolved financing issues. In April 2009, a secondary tower in the project, the 200,000-square-foot (19,000 m2) building planned for a block south of the main tower, was put on hold for at least two years. The main tower, however, was set to continue, having secured the remaining $475 million required for completion of the structure.
On July 8, 2010, the Bow surpassed Suncor Energy Centre as Calgary's highest building. The 215 metres (705 ft) tall Suncor Energy Centre was the highest building in Calgary since 1984. The addition of a steel girder, part of floors 55 to 57, raised the Bow tower to 218 metres (715 ft). In November 2010 the Bow would be topped off at 234 metres.

Three years after it was declared “The Worst Restaurant In NYC Right Now,” Salt Bae’s Manhattan burger joint has closed.
Salt Bae, of course, is the social media tag for the New York celebrity chef and butcher Nusret Gökçe, who became famous for bouncing flakes of salt off his forearm and on to just about anything edible, giving customers varying degrees of salt-shock.
He opened Salt Bae Burger in a city obsessed with finding the best burger possible, and the outlet on Park Avenue had undergone a bumpy ride ever since. It opened in late February 2020 – just before the city went into Covid-19 lockdowns – to accusations of sexism because it had offered a free, appetizer-sized veggie “ladies burger” in pink buns to women only.
“We wanted to compliment the ladies,” its general manager, Al Avci, told Eater, who explained the stunt had gone down well in Dubai. “We weren’t thinking it would be sexist.”
But Salt Bae Burger also drew consternation as the home of the $99, gold-flecked milkshake and the $100 Gold Burger, which was encased in gold foil. Meanwhile, in terms of ambience, Eater critic Robert Sietsema wrote, “it had all the charm of an airplane hangar.”
Scott Lynch, a reviewer for Gothamist, said he’d “had the unfortunate opportunity a few weeks ago to eat several sad servings of hospital food, and everything I had at Salt Bae was worse”. The menu, he wrote, was framed in metal like a tombstone “apparently marking the death of everything pleasurable about eating”.
The inexpensive Wet Burger, he added, was “actually just a meager disc of meat sitting within a soggy, unpleasantly sweet bun. It’s also tiny, but you can’t eat more than a single bite anyway.” Lynch called Salt Bae Burger the city’s worst restaurant.
Gökçe, who would cook in aviator sunglasses and tight white T-shirts, had seen success before. The Turkish restaurant impresario became famous three years earlier, in 2017, when – through his “salt crystals bouncing off arm bent in a swan-like formation” technique – he earned more than 52 million followers on Instagram via a chain of Nusr-Et steakhouses with more than 20 locations worldwide.
But the salting technique also attracted unwanted attention. When Gökçe donned gloves to perform the salting, some wondered if that might be because the technique could otherwise violate health codes.
Also, before Salt Bae Burger opened, the company behind the Nusr-Et restaurants was slapped with legal claims ranging from sexual harassment to wage theft. Gökçe raised eyebrows after bragging about feeding the Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, US conservative darling Donald Trump Jr and Leonardo DiCaprio, who is known for his dating life as much as his critically acclaimed film roles.
And the reviews weren’t great, either.
The New York Post called it “Public Rip-off No 1” that cost $521.45 for dinner for two and left the diners “craving a snack”. A $25 salad was composed of “days-old iceberg lettuce and mystery greens with tasteless goat cheese and a few walnuts, raisins, and pomegranate seeds”.
The New York Times critic Pete Wells said he’d experienced more than the theatrical application of salt to his order. “I had a pair of trousers that Salt Bae had seasoned like a steak,” he wrote.
He added: “Mr Gokce has only one move, but he performs it with total confidence, and as anybody who’s ever been on a dance floor knows, that’s enough.”
Still, Gökçe’s fame has been real enough.
“Americans and New Yorkers love me very much,” he told the New York Times. He described how he served most of the meat to customers, saying: “After I cut it, I do the move.
“I go to the same table, sometimes three times. I don’t see myself as a butcher or just a restaurant owner. I view my job as an art because I make art out of meat and the move is like a final touch on this art. It came from within me.”
Nonetheless, Salt Bae Burger closed last month, and the title of New York’s best – and worst – burger is up for grabs.

“You have some toothpaste on your lips, unnie.” Hanuel giggled, pointing at the woman who had entered the kitchen connected to the living room. “You’re such a messy brusher!” She taunted, laughing as she tuned out the cartoon playing loudly on her iPad.
Solji snickered, wiping the white paste off the corner of her mouth with her index finger before sucking on it. “Yeah,” she looked at Sunmi who hid a grin behind her hand, “i forget what i’m doing sometimes and get it everywhere.” She chuckles as Jongdae walked into the kitchen behind her. He winked at her, lightly tapping her behind as he went past.
Sunmi grimaced mockingly as she stared out of the large window, her face resting against her open palm. The penthouse was high above the settlement of the city of Seoul, curtesy of being two famous and well-looked-out-for entrepreneurs. They traveled quite a lot, having fun with one another while doing their job and Sunmi was left rest assured of her daughter’s situation as Jongdae took care of her whenever they went on trips across the globe. The day before they had arrived back in South Korea after touring Dubai, a beautiful wealthy country where the rich were kept well fed due to the oil percentages underneath their grounds, Sunmi had finally realised how much she travelled for work, but not herself. It really changed her prospective on her life in general.
A bored hum left her pink lips as the corners of her mouth twitched downward. The life she lived was prosperous, beautiful, full of good times, and hardships (leaving her sister behind, not staying in one place for long — besides for vacation or relaxation time — and so on), but there were faults in this life she lived that she couldn’t press her perfectly, recently manicured nails (done up in Dubai, of course — nothing like self-care to bring her spirits up) on. She craved an adventure, something more than this schedule she had; it was almost like her life was a chore, not a life.
Seol Sunmi needed a change, and quick.
“Noona, we should get a ferret.”
Not that kind of change.
An idea popped up in her head as she looked at the two adults conversing in the kitchen, smiles and small, short laughter shared between the two. Sunmi glanced at her daughter, who’s doe eyes were entranced by the flashing colours and squeaky voices of the characters on the small screen of her iPad in front of her.
She smirked, eyes darting between her best friend and her boyfriend.
“Hey, Hannie,” Sunmi grinned, gazing down at the small girl who stared up at her, “You wanna go on an adventure?”
Hanuel jumped up, her mother grabbing the iPad before it could drop to the floor, and chanted. “Adventure! Adventure! Adventure!” She shrieked in delight.
Solji gave the girl a look, whereas Jongdae made eye contact with Sunmi, who raised her eyebrows as she motioned to Solji with her eyes. He huffed.
Yeah, and an interesting adventure it will be.

The day was slowly winding down, turning daytime into night. Just a bit longer and it would mark the end of Miho Kobayashi's birthday. The lady of the hour was sitting in her office finishing up today’s work. Then all of a sudden her faithful butler entered the room.
"Yes, Goro?" Miho asked, not moving her eyes from the paperwork she was working on.
“Pardon me, my lady, but a visitor is here to see you,” Goro bowed.
Miho raised her gaze from her paperwork and raised her eyebrows. Who would be visiting her? Quickly mentally running through a list of everyone she knew and coming up blank.
“Send them in,” Miho was curious as to who had come. The butler nodded and left the room.
It was a few moments before the sound of heels clicking on the floor alerted the woman to the other party’s presence and much to her surprise, a somewhat familiar face was what greeted her.
“Hello Miho-san, Happy Birthday. Forgive me if I came at an inopportune time,” The leader of the Edogawa Division, Yuriko Kuromiya apologized, walking across the room and taking a seat across from Miho.
“Ah, Yuriko-san, forgive me but I wasn't expecting you of all people. I assume you’re here because of my birthday, yes?” Miho asked, looking at the only other person who knew her pain of constantly dealing with trouble-making pains in the ass relatives.
“I was in the neighborhood and thought it would be better to drop these off in person,” Yuriko responded, handing the CEO a noticeably sized gift bag with all the presents she had brought.
“Thank you, Yuriko-san, you didn't have to do this.” Miho expressed graciously taking the gift bag from her. “May I offer you a refreshment? It’s the least I can do after you went through the trouble of getting here.” The black-haired woman offered to the green-eyed woman.
Just as when Yuriko was going to answer the two women were interrupted by a ringtone echoing in the room.
“Apologies,” Yuriko pulled out her cell phone and answered it. “This is Yuriko Kuromiya.”
Miho couldn't quite help but shiver as she felt the temperature in the room dropped several degrees.
“...I see…” A sharp smile stretched across Yurko’s face as she heard what the person on the phone was telling her. “Thank you for telling me. I’ll be there shortly.”
“Yuriko-san?”
“Ah, Miho-san, I’m afraid we’ll have to do a rain check on that refreshment. It seems like Kaoru and Kanra have managed to get themselves arrested again.” Yuriko pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed. “Sometimes I believe this is karma for all the things I did when I was younger.”
“Karma?” Miho questioned feeling sympathy towards the forensic pathologist.
“Between me and you Miho-san, I was worse than Kaoru and Kanra combined.” A faint smirk appeared on Yuriko’s mouth. “My life has been an interesting one. Although, I don't think anything will top the time I got proposed to by the Crown Prince of Dubai.” Yuriko let out a laugh. “Now then I have to take my leave because as much as I would like to leave those two in jail for the night. I know they'll somehow end up running it.”
The retired assassin gave Miho one last birthday wish before getting up and heading toward the door. The birthday woman wished her a farewell before looking back at the presents still in the bad, picking up the biggest present, and opening it.

Opening the gift revealed an elegant white cake with raspberry drizzle down the edges. Blackberries, figs, and flowers were across the top completing the look of the cake. Next to the cake was a letter, Miho had to squint at it for a minute the handwriting on it looked horrendous.
“Dear Miho-san,
Happy Birthday! I hope you like the cake it's earl grey flavored. I would've asked Sumire what your favorite flavor was but I was afraid she would tell me some wacky flavor. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!
From,
Kanra Akemi”
Miho blinked she had heard Kanra was famous for her cakes. She didn't think the pink-haired girl liked her so she wasn't expecting one from her. Miho had to admit the cake was elegant in its simplicity. Setting the note along with the cake aside, Miho moved on to the final gift. This one felt like it weighed more than the last one.

Opening the gift reveals a black and gold china tea set with white rose designs on them. Alongside the tea set was a black box filled with containers of loose-leaf tea. The set was quite beautiful, Miho thought and checked to see if a note had come with it and sure enough, a note was tucked inside.
“Dear Miho-san,
Happy Birthday. I hope you enjoy the present I got you. Alongside the tea set, I got you a collection of teas that I’ve discovered from my travels around the world. God knows how many times I've needed a good cup of tea after a long day of work and after dealing with certain troublemakers.
From,
Yuriko Kuromiya”
Placing the note down the black-haired woman snorted she needed more than a cup of tea but she appreciated the gift. Leaving back into her chair Miho couldn’t help but smile, quite the surprise this birthday was turning out, she thought. Perhaps Yuriko wouldn't be so bad to befriend. Although Miho wished her luck dealing with those two misfits she called daughters.
Happy birthday Miho!
“My lady, shall I make you a cup of tea?” Goro offered and Miho nodded her head, why not after all, the tea set Yuriko gave her was quite beautiful and she had a feeling that she’ll be using this set more often in the future. Soon enough, Miho was settled into the living room on the reclining chair nursing a nice hot cup of tea whilst reading a book, every once in a while she would pause to take a bite out of the slice of cake Kanra made for her. For a girl that was known to put people in critical condition with just a literal flick of her finger, she could bake a damn good cake, that’s for sure. It was very nice for Yuriko to not only go out of her way to show up in Shinagawa in person but to also give her some wonderful gifts, perhaps someday the two of them could talk over tea together and vent about how stressful and soul sucking it is to have criminally insane children.
Thank you for the gift!

serafina assunçaõ pereira picked up their key from the front desk 2 years ago. the twenty-nine year old uses she/they pronouns and is owner of inherited escapes bookstore from valpariso, chile. according to their apartment application, people have told them they look a lot like bruna marquezine, and the character they identify with most is ramona flowers from scott pilgrim vs the world (oof). santa moenda gives you a warm welcome, and we hope you enjoy your stay.

˗ˏˋ full name ⟶ serafina " sef " maria assunçaõ pereira ˗ˏˋ age ⟶ twenty-nine ˗ˏˋ pronouns ⟶ she/they ˗ˏˋ place of birth ⟶ valpariso, chile ˗ˏˋ star sign ⟶ gemini
I N T E R V I E W ( bio & backstory )
I: can you state your full name, age, and how long you’ve been living at santa moenda, for the record ?
S: sef’s barely comfortable in the chair when the interviewer starts asking their questions, understandably, since she was bordering on twenty minutes late and they’ve been waiting for her. the length of time it takes her to remember would be embarrassing, if not for the fact that they don’t know the meaning of ‘ embarrassing. ‘ “ serafina maria assunçaõ pereira. “ she states, “ but everybody just calls me sef. “ they sit for a moment, as if waiting for the interviewer to ask the next question, but quickly catches on they forgot to answer like, the whole rest of the question. “ oh, right… ! i’m twenty-nine, and i’ve lived in santa moenda apartments for 2 years. “
I: let’s start at the beginning : where were you born ? what is your family like ?
S: “ i was born and raised right here in valpo. never been anywhere else. “ she seems proud of this fact. sure, sef had a brief rebellious phase in 2016 where she really wanted to see dubai or cairo or beijing, but she’s convinced themselves that they’re totally comfortable here in valpo and totally aren’t getting restless. “ my mom worked at la universidad de bellas artes ── art history, if you have to know ── and my dad ran a nearby restaurant. “ say what you want about sef ( there’s definitely a lot to criticize ) but she’s been working hard since they were born. “ i spent a lot of time in kitchens as a kid, cause you know, when you’re a business owner kids are totally just free labour, so i spent a lot of time with my dad and my older brothers in the kitchens, on the floor, taking orders, dealing with tourists. we were no michelin star place that serves you those two-bite meals on a tiny plate, but we ended up on a couple of those stupid magazine articles about the ten places you have to try at. it’s on the main road, if you want to try it ever. el torero ; you literally can’t miss it, there’s a huge bull painting on the side. “ the interviewer has to steer them back towards the original question. “ what were my parents like ? do i get to decide that ? i can’t stand kids. i’m nice to them, because i’m not a complete asshole, but three of them ? twenty-four seven ? you try stepping over me and my brothers huddled around the kitchen tv narrating the football match while carrying three plates of empanadas and chips… “ it seems to the interviewer that it’s best to move onto the next question, lest sef go down another tangent.
I: what kind of kid were you ?
S: “ the weird one. “ they shrug nonchalently. “ everyone thought i was weird. and not in that like cute, quirky “ oh my god ! i was so weird ! ” kind of way. “ her lip curls in distaste as they raise their voice an octave. “ when i was fourteen i read twilight i spent five months trying to convince everyone i was a vampire and wanted to drink blood at school. i even threatened to drink my brother’s hamster dry. my mom didn’t like that one. “ her feet jump in place, the heels of their sneakers tapping off each other as she thinks. her fingers are curled around the edge of the seat of the comfortable arm chair she’s perched on. “ i was reading, like, all the time, which is probably because i was weird and lonely. if i wasn’t helping my dad in the kitchen i was chewing through books i got at the library. i stole them from the university too sometimes, which i don’t think my mom ever found out… ── sorry mama. “ she flashes a smile towards the record camera and then pushes her hair over her shoulder. “ but i wasn’t like, quiet, even though i read. i should have been more quiet. it was annoying. my dad used to call me his little chismose with how much i talked. i knew the regulars and their business better than he did. i still probably do. “
I: the career that you picked : what made you decide to go in that direction ? how do you like it ?
S: “ so obviously because i was a weird lonely kid with no friends and free tuition to the university because of my mom i was going to squander it on a literature degree i would never be able to land a real job with. “ they start, now folding their arms over their chest and leaning back. sef can’t sit still. she’s already bored of this interview, ready to get to the four new projects she already has stirring at the back of their brain. “ i got my undergrad, and then my masters, and then i did a bunch of freelance marketing for big publishing companies that i had to supplement by working in the same bookstore i had been working in since i was sixteen because they never pay you enough to be able to live on your own, and once you move out of the house because you’re an adult who goes to university your parents don’t want you to come back, even though they say you can always come home. i also still worked as a waitress at my dad’s restaurant on the weekends. basically, i had no free time. turns out the guy who has owned inherited escapes since like, the nineties was totally into the idea of selling it to me since, like i said, i had worked there since i was sixteen. and listen, “ she sits forward very suddenly, pointing aggressively at the interviewer, “ it was a great deal, and it was not an impulsive decision, even though everybody else seems to think ‘ oh, sef, you only did that because you felt stuck in your life and wanted to do something crazy. ‘ “ bouncing in her spot, she again raises her voice and then deflates with a scowl. “ i love it, and like yeah it’s really hard owning your own business, but what else am i going to do ? at least now the fact i’m barely getting by is on my own terms, not some big conglomerate who’s copytext i’m writing doesn’t even care about the authors they’re publishing. do you want some recommendations ? i’ve got lots. “
I: what was the most defining moment in your life ? how has it impacted you personally ?
S: she stares down the interviewer as if they’re stupid. “ it was loaning thousands of dollars from the bank and buying out a whole business, dude. “ they say, unimpressed. “ haven’t you been listening to me at all ? “ their annoyance only lingers a second before they’re back on topic ( she loves to hear herself talk. ) “ i could talk to you about how it gave me purpose and now i feel like i know what i’m doing, but to be totally honest… i don’t feel that different, now i just own a bookstore and have to do like budgeting and stuff like that. do you know how fucking expensive an accountant is ?! “ serafina has been all over this chair, shifting positions every second, but with that exclamation they just about jump out of the seat. “ like excel does everything for them ! i do all my accounting myself, and my taxes, and my parents taxes, and i will keep my $500, thank you very much ! unbelievable ! “
I: why did you come to santa moenda ? how do you like it ?
S: “ probably because it’s close to inherited escapes. “ she admits, honestly. they’re quiet for a second, and then raise their eyebrows as they watch the interviewer wait for them to elaborate. “ …do you want a better answer than that ? it was close to the bookstore, it was close to the market, there was a vacant apartment and my roommate before carmen needed someone to rent the extra room. that’s it. “
M I S C H E A D C A N O N S
absolutely that neighbour that’s fully changing in front of the open window because she jus… doesn’t care
she’s… chaotic BDJCJDJCJCJCN so scattered, so forgetful, trying to do 20 things at once, she’s loud and also kind of abrasive and can be completely off-putting because of it but tries not to let that bother her. yes she was bullied as a kid and yes they deserved it, but it still definitely left them with a bad taste in their mouth.
unless you get her at the bookstore, then she’s in her zone. like she’s probably reading behind the counter when you come in but if you’ve got questions BOY is she ready to answer them. book recommendation for anyone and everyone. they life their life escaping through books.
she has probably 3 or 4 sets of rollerblades and bc valpo is too hilly to skate on the streets, makes specific trips to the peer and the parks and stuff to use them (someone be their rollerblading buddy 🥺)
you can’t own a bookstore and not be a little bit of a hoarder… she’s got a habit of collecting books and records and other trinkets that she doesn’t have room for in her small apartment
one day: adam sandler. the next: 90s supermodel. that’s it that’s the personal style.
they're literally entirely based on a post i saw about a librarian who had "BOOK CLUB" tattooed across their fingers so.... she does have that tattoo and also that's their energy LMFAO
anyway as usual, pinterest is HERE and i'll start brainstorming wanted connections. thank you for reading.

Biophilic designs activate natural ingredients such as materials from nature and natural light and vegetation to establish a revitalizing space. Two solutions that represent space-saving features in high demand are modular furniture along retractable partition systems most sought by residents of small apartments. Contemporary living spaces display repetitive patterns showing a preference for personal, fashionable, and practical design elements that align with modern daily requirements.

Building kitchen islands together with breakfast bars has become a common practice in renovations because they enhance workplace capacity and serve as family gathering spaces. Touch-controlled appliances together with motion-sensor faucets in smart kitchens continue to raise their popularity in modern households.
Landscape Villain: Redefining Outdoor Spaces: Most people who live in apartments need outdoor spaces thus they invest money to enhance their balconies and terraces and common areas. The renovation of balconies and terraces toward welcoming spaces often incorporates timber decking as well as fake grass and comfortable outdoor furniture. Urban environments see rooftop gardens gaining fame because they provide both urban green spaces and improved air quality and relaxation experiences. Sustainable landscaping now embraces alternatives such as solar-powered lighting rainwater collection systems and drought-resistant plants growing in popularity daily.
