the merits of the twinyards learning to show their love for each other in slow stilted actions r a lot. for me. to me. little things. aaron buying andrew his favorite sweets because he remembers his picky eating tendencies; andrew throwing a blanket over aaron passed out in the living room after pulling an all-nighter. opening up more during their sessions w bee, angry accusations n cold statements melting into talking abt hurts n what shaped them growing up which becomes even conversation n learning abt each other more ( to bee’s not so small delight.)

the glares n perpetual scowls aaron once wore in andrew presence turn into smth more knowing n relaxed. he thinks one day he’ll be able to forgive andrew for tilda’s death; knowing the reasons behind it now, how andrew did it for his sake. (when he tells andrew that he thought he was going to die, during the days he was locked in that bathroom, his voice is raw. andrew’s face shutters. then, he says in what is possibly the closest thing to regret aaron has ever heard from andrew, “If I could make what you experienced during that time less painful, I would.” n really what’s done is done n there’s no going back, but aaron needed some sort of closure, smth, anything ! so he turns away n tries not to shake from all the emotions of what he’s feeling. andrew sits there n waits for him to return to normal.) andrew begins to make eye contact w aaron, he stops looking thru him—choosing to acknowledge his existence, instead. he sees how aaron is making an effort, clumsily attempting to prove that he isn’t letting andrew go, in spite of everything. (“ I’m not going anywhere. I hate you, but I’m still not going anywhere.” aaron says defiantly during one session where andrew said smth abt aaron going on his merry way after graduation. it shocks andrew. he stills suddenly n it’s v hard for him to look away from aaron’s blazing eyes. “Do what you like.” andrew replies stiffly. it’s acceptance n permission wrapped up in one.)

they learn how to mend the fragments of their broken past so they can both move forward. aaron releasing his resentment of andrew slowly but surely. andrew allowing himself to think of aaron as more than someone who will disappear one day, someone permanent in his life. they talk to each other !!! they meet up to do things—in complete silence sometimes, with small comments here n there in other times. after graduation, andrew goes to play on the east coast while aaron does med school elsewhere. it’s a big change. it’s difficult, often times. aaron will look next to himself with words on the tip of his tongue, then realize andrew is not around. andrew will look behind him as he traverses the streets of nyc, hand outstretched as tho to hold onto smth, a shirt perhaps, forgetting that aaron is not there.

But!!!

the two of them call each other once a year,month, week— the occurrences gradually becoming more n more frequent. 3 years pass by. andrew is in town for a game. afterwards, he meets up w aaron for a drink. it’s quiet. not uncomfortable. they take each other in n note how separation n time away has made the other different. aaron is in a good mood , hair shaved close down, face full, n nothing like the raggedy n hollowed boy andrew met years ago. aaron in turn observes how andrew’s eyes r half-lidded w smth one would call happiness if it were anyone else, but it’s js content for andrew; his arms tattooed beneath his armbands, n a looseness to his shoulders that aaron could not have ever believed andrew to posses once upon a time. after some small talk n a small congratulations from aaron for andrew’s team win, andrew slips a piece of paper out of his jacket pocket n shoves it at aaron, face blank. it’s a new team contract. it’s in the same city as aaron’s med school :) aaron decidedly does not smile, but sources say his lips quirked up a bit. they order cheesecake. everything is fine. they r brothers. they walk out together.

Milo: Maya’s Drew is cold to me cuz I’m not his son. He’s bigger than my Drew and older. He looks cool but I can tell he dislikes me. My Drew can win in a fight

Milo: Maya’s Neil is old and tired looking and really attentive. He’s weird.

Milo: Ollie’s Drew is old but he’s way less squishy than my Drew. He is nicer than Maya’s but if he’s skinny, where will I nap? No more tummy naps :(

Milo: Ollie’s Neil is nice but suuuuper old. He likes me but I prefer my Dad.

Maya: Milo’s Andrew looks like he’d fight the McDonald’s for not during his depression with a happy meal. I want to slap his smile off his face. At least he knows how to dress. Still a loser with gross lungs.

Maya: Milo’s Neil is a harass. He looks like a loser. Scaredy cat. Why Milo listens to him, I have no clue. Raggedy Andy called, he wants Neil to keep the clothes cuz Neil ruined the style. The only good thing is that he lost his awful red hair.

Maya: Ollie’s Andrew is pale and skinny. He looks like an anorexic version of my dad. Subtle wrinkles too. I would sketch him… oh he’s kind too. Gross.

Maya: Ollie’s Neil is a pain in the ass. He’s sweet, it makes me sick. Pale like Ollie’s Andrew. Would be an interesting watercolor painting if I was up to it.

Ollie: Milo’s Dad is funny looking. I like his hair. Why is he fat? He looks emo too. My dad doesn’t smile this much but my dad’s smile is nicer.

Ollie: Milo’s DadMom looks like a depressed Bambi. He’s super young. I like that our eyes match. But he’s too tiny. My dad can beat him.

Ollie: Maya’s dad is mean. He looks like a scary dark beach ball. Or a thug. He looks like a thug for sure. Scary.

Ollie: Maya’s red dad is also scary. Zombie guy. My dad has scars too but this guy is crusty.

Maya’s Andrew does not like Milo because he has not a single connection with him. Milo is a stranger and his existence only means pain to Neil. Her Neil feels a responsibility towards him. The Andrew doesn’t like Oliver either but is way more indifferent since Oliver’s existence isn’t painful to Neil. Maya’s Neil really likes Oliver but pales at the idea of two chaotic kids.

Oliver’s Andrew is indifferent like Neil but they both are kind to Milo and Maya anyway. Those two are far more put together than any of the other andreils.

Milo’s Andrew ignores them and would definitely have a childish argument with both. Neil would be confused on how to feel.

Facts: Maya has an issue with saying rude things. When she’s older, she keeps her mouth shut since she was taught “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”. So she drags them all through the mud in her judgments

So, like, I have been asked more than once how my OCs sound, and god I wish I could you an answer. Like, I have voices in my head for them, but it's difficult to point to a character or actor and say "they sound like that." The only one I can do that with is, stupidly enough, Dandy, who I've decided sounds exactly like Mark Baker's Raggedy Andy from the Raggedy Ann musical movie. I've established that Phonograph just sounds like me, but I'd probably cast someone else if I could.

Like, if we're being honestly, they'd all realistically sound like Becky Sloan or Baker Terry, maybe one of the other actors from the TV show if they're lucky. Penny probably would sound like Becky Sloan doing an impression of Julie Andrews, and I don't know what that sounds like, and Coby would just be Becky pitched up and bitcrushed (no auto-tune, that didn't exist in the 80s) with an American accent. May? Tori? Blue Jay Woman? Indigo Lady? No goddamn idea.

me personally i think that, alongside andrew being his raggedy blanket, that kevin should in fact have a gross old chewed up matted hideous teddy bear that he does cart around everywhere with him even if he is embarrassed by it like they’re going on the bus to a game and he’s like andrew can you please get mr mittens out my bag.. no andrew do it more subtly andrew sit down do not wave him around andrew come on just give him here.. hiding him under his jumper chewing on his ear oh kevin day i love you

MR MITTENS GOT TO ME…. made me smile…. god it IS cute 🥹….. im very upset by the idea that kevin wasn’t allowed any of his previous childhood comforts when he went to the nest but coach wymack should unearth a really old beaten up teddy bear he probably meant to send in for kevins first birthday and kevin should cling to it immediately. mr mittens is disgusting and dusty and is hanging on by a thread but his life still has worth. and if anyone says anything bad about it ill blow this fucking stadium up
