What I tell my therapist: a semi-obscure horror game brought my love of writing back from the dead after 10 years and the fandom community surrounding it has introduced me to a bunch of my new favorite people for the past year.

Maybe it’s the nostalgia but- Does anyone else miss it when the characters in Life Is Strange were just teenagers?

For me personally, when the characters are all adults (Like older adults I mean) it just sorta loses a lot of the vibe that made the previous games special. 

You’re free to disagree of course and I’m interested in hearing what you have to think about this

Personally, I don't think it's the adulthood aspects that make True Colors and Double Exposure lose the vibes a lot of the previous games have. I think it's just that TC and DE feel more cooperate all around.

I like True Colors, but it does feels like a very "cooperate" game in every aspect and I personally think that's part of the reason the vibes are different. Like...for example, LIS 1 was given a fantastic niche indie soundtrack that really makes the world feel alive. True Colors was given songs that you would expect to hear on a top ten radio station and I'm not letting anyone forget that they tried to make Alex's song "Creep" by Radiohead.

I think DE is the same in that regard. It feels like Marvel studios came in at some point to partner with Decknine...and I do mean that in the worst ways.

TBH I don't think the off vibes are caused by Alex and DE Max being older as much as I think they're caused by Alex and DE Max being older and yet their stories being watered down in a way that isn't true for the teenaged protagonists. Like...I just can't imagine TC or DE having a scene where a racist kidnap's a 16 year and then is later confirmed in a newspaper to be viewed as the victim of the situation, and I think that's the point really. Both TC and DE felt like they were made for "mainstream" appeal, while LIS, LIS 2, and BTS feel like they were made for people who really like indie music and staring at their wall at 3AM.

The vibes are very different all around, and personally I don't think that's really the fault of DE Max and Alex's age. I actually a LIS story with an adult protagonist could be really good if they'd did more with it.

Ticci Toby - Headcanons

AHH THANK YOU SO MUCH!! And Ilysm for requesting that, seriously!! <333 and OF COURSE!

I'm trying to be as realistic & canon as possible with those headcanons, there's a lot to say about Toby anyway! :]

Headcanons:

Toby does not remember his past canonically, due to his amnesia. So, he is not a grumpy or constantly depressed person. He can be very talktive around people he likes due to his ADHD and mania episodes which both cause hyperactivity. (Bipolar contains mania)

Toby doesn't really care about people that aren't his fond ones. At all. He will only care about someone or at least show a tiny bit of interest if the person looks beautiful or seems interesting in any way. I think that because he once wanted to keep a woman alive who, in his words, looked beautiful. Of course he changed his mind after she pissed him off, but yes, he wanted to see if she deserved to live and gave her a chance.

He loves playing Mario Cart with BEN, as he finds a strange comfort in it. That is because he used to play Video games in his childhood with either his sister or the neighbor kid.

If he smokes, he starts violently coughing like an seizing camel.

He loves wearing sweatpants and turtlenecks when he's in the mansion. He doesn't usually change his clothes when he's going to bed and just sleeps in what he is wearing. For missions, he simply throws a hoodie over the turtleneck and puts on some jeans with a belt for his hatchets. Nothing super special. -- ((My AU has the Creepypasta mansion thing, yes. I at least have my own logical explanation for why and hhh so yeah,))

Toby forgets his things basically everywhere, no matter if it are his goggles, his mouthguard, his hatchets, etc... Mainly due to his amnesia, but also because of his schizophrenia. Schizophrenia causes disorganized speech and thoughts at times, so he might jump from topic to topic.

He doesn't really listen when people talk to him or at leasts struggles with it. It's hard to talk about something he cares about. If he doesn't care, he will simply not listen. IF he cares and tries to listen, he will get distracted super easily. After he asked a question, his attention might be gone already once you start speaking.

Toby is not rude but sassy. He's not praticularly mean to people but will get sassy when given the chance since he's a jerk.

His favorite animals are raccoons, owls, cheetahs and moths.

He has a weird obsession with fire. He loves committing arson.

Toby has a lot of damage in his room because he throws his hatchets at the figures he sees due to his schizophrenia.

Toby constantly wears his gloves or bandages to cover up the wounds on his hands. He only lets specific people like EJ check on his hands or Nurse Ann, so they can just roughly patch him up. Otherwhise, he keeps them hidden to not seem vulnerable.

This man has an EXTREME fear of abandonment. Once he gets close to someone, he will be clingy af, orrr suddenly cold af.

Toby doesn't get along with most people, usually sticking around Cody(X-Virus), Eyeless Jack and Kate. Those are his best friends.

His favorite artists are: Mother Mother, Get Scared, Insane Clown Posse, My Chemical Romance, Nirvana, Three Days Grace, Radiohead, Salvia Palth, Linkin Park, Panic! At The Disco, Alex G, Crystal Castles, Mitski, The Neighbourhood, Coldplay, Mindless Self Indulgence, Melanie Martinez, Pastle Ghost and Billie Eilish.

When he finds dead animals like raccoons, he will pick them up and pet them, all fascinated. He might even hug and squeeze it to somehow get comfort from it. The comfort he didn't recieve and needs.

Toby can go from super confident to super insecure very fast.

Toby loves touching things to feel real. If he's feeling surreal, he will start touching things or taste things to feel real.

He struggles with sleeping, but once he actually is asleep, he usually has disturbing nightmares. As soon as Toby wakes up, he either remembers them and has a panic attack OR he will feel uncomfortable for a reason he can't recall and will avoid sleeping as much as possible.

He's emotionally detached, but tbh, he's a real INFP (Personality type).

Habits:

Honestly, he sometimes tries watching porn to feel something. Due to his mania episodes, he tends to be hypersexual. (Again, he's bipolar which causes mania, and mania can cause hypersexuality.)

Tobias keeps chewing the flesh around his fingers, biting the skin on hips lips and pulling on his hair.

When he's nervous, he will fidget with his hands or clothes a LOT, or keep something like a leaf in his hand so he can just play with it instead of harming himself.

If he's pissed, he starts grinding his teeth to focus on the noise and the feeling instead of the anger he's feeling.

Toby sometimes drinks alcohol to just go completely numb, even emotionally. He uses it to escape the pain he's feeling mentally, as soon as he gets his flashbacks.

Routine: His routine might be a little difficult to explain? But I'll try for sure! I hope I'm not getting the commission wrong, if I do, let me know and I will redo this!

When Toby wakes up, the first thing he does is check where he is. He usually skips breakfast or forgets it, but IF he doesn't forget it, he will just devour a toast or something simple like that. When he doesn't have a mission to do, he will just do the most random stuff like go for a walk, play video games, listen to music, etc. Toby doesn't have a specific routine, he just does what he feels like doing. One thing is sure tho: Toby listens to music every day. No matter how many songs, no matter what song. He must listen to at least one song to feel comfortable and connected to reality. Music gives him comfort and he enjoys listening to it, so he listens to music every day. Sometimes he even plays e-guitar! :] He won't do anything special other than killing, listening to music or talking to himself the whole day. As soon as the stars become visible, Toby goes outside to observe them, spending his time by thinking and having conversations with himself. He doesn't usually sleep anyway, so he spends a lot of time caught in his thoughts. Toby usually drinks a lot of energy drinks to not collapse, even tho his hyperactivity usually keeps him awake.

When this insomnaic finally decides to sleep, he places his hatchets somewhere where he can find them again. After making sure his weapons are on their place, he will just straight up jump into bed to pass out. Changing clothes, brushing his teeth or anything related to that isn't a thing Toby likes. I feel like sometimes Toby would plan on meeting people like Kate or Cody behind the mansion to drink a little and smoke, but bro would just straight up forget about it and go to bed like nothing is bothering his life, completely forgetting about the things he planned. Maybe he at least gets a peaceful sleep... or something.

Thirty minutes of trying to teach something to Clapton, nothing. Everything you said just got into his hollow head by one ear and slipped out by the other.

Every time you tried to explain something he just talked about how pretty you looked while explaining and how soft your hair looked today... He always wanted to get a reaction out of you.

"Clapton, i'm serious." You mumbled, rolling your eyes and smirking a bit.

"I know, and you look beautiful when you're serious." He answered, chuckling and holding your chin.

Clapton's phone started ringing.

"Why do you always want to hang out, by the way?" You ask, looking forward as you both skateboard towards the park.

"I don't know." He mumbled, shrugging and supporting his chin on your shoulder. "I enjoy your company." He said, smiling a bit.

You smile sweetly, looking to the ground and then up again, thinking about you and Clapton. There was clearly more than just friendship there... There was something, a feeling that Clapton clearly didn't seemed to have with any girl.

You chuckled a bit and leaned in, leaving a soft kiss on the wound. "It'll get better." You mumble, smiling at him.

He blushes a bit and chuckles, letting go of your wrist. Some drops of water falling from the sky.

"Let's go, It's pouring." You said getting up quickly and pulling Clapton up with you.

As you two run to find a cover, the rain gets worse and you two end up soaked. After some time you finally found a cover on the facade of an shop.

You lean against the wall, sighing as tried to recover from the run.

"Damn... Im soaked." You mumbled, and then looked at Clapton.

You blushes and looks away as he leans on the wall next to you, dropping the skateboard on the floor and looking at you.

"I guess we'll have to wait..." He mumbled, his arm softly touching yours as your thoughts slowly started to get back to normal.

You look down at your hands, the pinkies touching. You slowly interlace your hands, and Clapton doesn't fight it, quite the opposite, he squeezes your hand back.

"Clapton..." You called, looking down at your feet.

"Hm?" He asked.

"Why do you date Ione?" You ask, looking up at him.

"Well, because hm... Because i like her..." Clapton answered, shrugging and looking away.

"If you liked her you wouldn't had hesitated." You said, kicking the ground as your gaze moved back to the floor.

The silence fell between you two, not an uncomfortable or nice silence, just silence...

"You belong with me, Clapton." You mumbled, looking up at him again.

His eyes met yours, and as an kind of spell, he moves in and kisses your lips.

You kiss him back, without thinking twice. His hands slide down your waist, gripping it tightly as his tongue brushed against your lower lip, asking for entrance.

You part your lips, allowing your tongues to met. They move together in a desperate way, you two have been wanting this for so long.

Your hands grip on his shoulders as the kiss keeps getting deeper, suddenly, he breaks the kiss and pulls away.

"Yeah..." You mumbled, lying back on the mattress.

She gets in, a concerned look on her face. She slowly sits down besides you on bed.

"What's the matter, dear?" She asks, fixing your hair to the side. "You're not going to the spring prom?" Your mother asks again, worriedly.

ok since im back to my childhood hyperfixation im gonna make a rundowns of my headcanons for my equestria girls college au :3

Twilight Sparkle:

-indian+canadian

-average height (about 1,7m or so), very lean, probably the skinniest one of the group

-shoulder length hair, oftentimes just forgets to brush it

-technology major

-considered going into physics but inventions are her special interest

-autism goes hard baybee

-her hobby is mechanical engineering so she picks apart vechicles in her free time

-one time sunset allowed her to work on her motorbike and she went INSANE

-has microdontia, very insecure about it, is considering getting braces

-radiohead listener

-as bisexual as she can get

Fluttershy:

-pakistani

-muslim, hijabi

-second tallest of the group (1,85m), shaped like a walking stick

-often styles her hijab with hairpins and earrings

-veterinary medicine major

-when she was a kid her and rainbow dash would put bugs in jars to take care of them, that's when her love of animals started

-pets stray cats on the street

-crochet girlie

-if you're friends with her you'll likely end up with a custom crochet cardigan from her

Rarity:

-mexican+russian

-reformed jewish, wears her star of david necklace all the time

-third tallest of the group (1,8m), fat and curvy

-fashion major, but already has her own boutique

-lush locks, she has a strict 10 step routine to maintain them

-started designing clothes at 16 but has had a lot of experience with sewing since she had to repair her clothes as a kid bc she grew up poor

-classic lit fan

-will go on a tangent how underappreciated and misunderstood sonya marmeladova is

-its an unskippable cutscene btw you have to listen throughout all of it

-twilight convinced her to read sci-fi as well and she's a huge fan of it

has a lot of stretch marks and cellulite and she's very proud of it

-shortest one of the group (1,6m) and salty about it, very muscular but not as much as applejack, hits the gym 4 times a week

-wants to be able to lift applejack, currently to no avail

-aviation major, is training to become a pilot

-adhd and dyslexic, struggled a lot in classes and at one point in life was convinced she's dumb but turns out he just needed accomodations

-has always been keen on flying, loved watching birds and dragonflies with fluttershy

-all spare money goes to piercings, currently has snake bites and an industrial

-vape girlie im so sorry but he would vape

-her pilot jacket literally never comes off

-morning person. he'll literally wake up at crack of dawn and ask you if you want to go on a jog with her

-punk rock fan, his favourite bands are dead kennedys, sex pistols and misfits

-dyed her hair many different colours before ultimately settling on pink

-LOVES trying different hairstyles, she loves having an afro but her second favourite hairstyle are bantu knots

-culinary major, dreaming of opening her own bakery

-works part-time as a kid entertainer, children absolutely love to be around her

-accesorizes every item of clothing she owns, there are more pins and patches than there is material

-pro gamer girl, has her own youtube channel
