WOW! What a crazy day. So we went hiking today and on our way to the trail head, we spot a turtle in the middle of the road trying to cross.... we named him Carl. Well of course we didn't want Carl to get hit, so @journey3six5 Heather picked him up and moved him to the side in the direction he was going and we continued on our way. THEN about 200 yards away there was a baby racoon on the side of the road. Thinking it was stunned or something and fell out of a 🌳 Heather once again picked up the animal (a.k.a Robin), put her on a hill off the road and gave her some water. We decided that if Robin was stunned, we needed give her time and space to recover. We decide to go for our hike and hoped she would be gone by time we came back to get our water container. So we get to the trail head, where we meet up with our prima @zyra.taz and we get going. There we see a lady with her awesome dogs. They all had goggles and we asked her is we could take a picture....clearly she said yes! It was great. Long story short, we finished our hike, said goodbye to our cousin and now we have a racoon in our shower and she's waiting to go to rehab tomorrow! Holy shit, what a day! Oh, and we hiked another 2 miles today. Racoon Update: Picture of a Racoon from Google. I called the office that accepted the animal to check up on it. They informed me they had to immediately euthenize him because he was grievously injured and not savable. They are checking to see if he did infact have rabies. Last night I received 5 vaccinations to the tune of $250 with insurance. I have to go back in a few days to get more. I'm glad I helped that animal when we couldn't get anyone to do so. The Vet said I did a good thing. It could have hurt another person or animal. Today, I spent the day recovering. I feel fine just mostly sore from the injections. Vaccines are life saving. All vaccines. I will be happy to get the Covid one when it comes around.
