A former FBI counterterrorism agent, Dave Gomez, told The Washington Post he thought that a fear of being seen as targeting President Donald Trump's base was muting the agency's response to violence by white nationalists."There's some reluctance among agents to bring forth an investigation that targets what the president perceives as his base," Gomez told the publication. The comments followed an attack on Saturday by a gunman at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, that the FBI is treating as a domestic terrorism incident.Investigators have said the gunman left a racist manifesto on the messaging board 8chan ahead of the attack.

FBI agents are hesitant to investigate white nationalist extremists because they don't want to be seen as pursuing investigations against President Donald Trump's base, a former FBI counterterrorism agent told The Washington Post.
The former agent, Dave Gomez, said he believes that FBI Director Christopher Wray "is an honorable man, but I think in many ways the FBI is hamstrung in trying to investigate the white supremacist movement like the old FBI would."
"There's some reluctance among agents to bring forth an investigation that targets what the president perceives as his base," Gomez said. "It's a no-win situation for the FBI agent or supervisor."
He said that Trump's repeated criticism of the FBI and its investigation into Russian election interference and collusion were likely factors as well.
The FBI declined to comment to Business Insider on Gomez's claims. An FBI representative told The Post that the comments were not accurate and that the agency distributes resources according to its assessment of the threat posed by domestic terrorism.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the FBI says about 40% of the domestic terrorism cases it is investigating involve racism.
Gomez's comments followed Saturday's shooting in a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, that killed 20 people. Investigators have told media outlets that shortly before the shooting, the gunman posted a racist and anti-immigrant screed on the messaging board 8chan, known as a hub for white nationalists. Authorities have identified Patrick Crusius as the suspect in the shooting.
That shooting was followed hours later by another mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio, that investigators have not tied to racist ideology. Authorities have not publicly identified a motive in that shooting.
Saturday's shooting was the latest in a long series of deadly attacks by white nationalist extremists in the US and abroad. In March, a gunman killed 51 people in mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, and livestreamed the attack on social media.
At a Senate hearing in July, Wray said an increasing number of domestic terrorism incidents were motivated by white supremacist and white nationalist ideologies.
Law-enforcement responses to violence by white nationalists have long been the focus of fierce bipartisan disputes. Republicans in 2009 reacted furiously to a Department of Homeland Security report that described right-wing extremist violence as a rising threat. They accused the agency of a bid to smear conservatives.
Trump's political opponents have accused him of deliberately stoking racist divisions in the US and actively courting the support of white nationalists during his 2016 presidential campaign.
In a March op-ed article for Time, the director of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University linked a rise in white nationalism to "a coarsening of mainstream politics, where debates on national security and immigration have become rabbit holes for the exploitation of fear and bigotry."
The president last week claimed he is "the least racist person anywhere in the world" and on Sunday linked the El Paso attack to a "mental-illness problem." In the wake of the New Zealand attack, he said he didn't see white nationalism as a growing global threat.
Under US law, while it is a crime to provide support for foreign terror groups like ISIS, there is no equivalent for domestic terrorism organizations, The Post said.
The FBI is investigating the El Paso attack as a domestic terrorism incident and possible hate crime. In a statement on Sunday, it warned that Saturday's attack could inspire copycats.

More horrific bullshit from Texas.
This is a massive gift to private "security" contractors, about which more in a moment. I don't think that is Abbott's only motivation, though. There's always plain old gun fetishism, plus the outrage and national exposure this will get him. As I put it elsewhere, it's a real trifecta of malfeasance. Remember, Abbott has been locked in a race with DeSantis to be the worst Republican presidential candidate who isn't orange, and lately he has been losing.
Now, about those private "security" contractors. I don't think people know about the huge overlap between guns-in-schools training companies and the supremacist fringes of American evangelical Christianity. I know about it because I have a cousin with feet firmly planted in both camps. A whole lot of these people literally see themselves as holy warriors, crusaders or templars protecting kids the only way they know how and spreading the Gospel of Guns at the same time. The two are inseparable. A prime example of this is said cousin's own son, who really really really wants to be a cop (I think he's in training now). Why not military, you ask? Yes, the guns are bigger, but qualified immunity protects killers while UCMJ limits them. As strange as it might sound, police are far less restrained in their use of force than soldiers are.
"But couldn't Abbott really sincerely be trying to protect children (even if he's misguided)?"
No. This would be a reasonable question to ask about many people, but not Abbott. Practically everything he has done since taking office suggests that he is indifferent at best about children except as property to be controlled. Armed pseudo-cops in schools is good for that, and not much else. Does he care about children as children, as human beings with their own identities and rights and feelings separate from their owners parents? Certainly not. If anything, he has shown that he hates that aspect of children. He'd put them under armed guard in factories instead of schools if he could. The bill for that is probably drafted already, just waiting for the right moment.

Most noble Bill: Have you ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed you? If so, does anyone else know?
Tumblr media
[ Random Asks / Accepting ]
The question comes while Beth is carefully selecting flowers and seeds to cultivate for Skuttlebutt's airponics bay. The warship certainly had food storage to spare, but Beth's skills have become invaluable in creating a far more robust selection of floral life and sustenance, capable of cleansing the air, and also filling stomachs and bolstering immune systems.
The inquiry causes Bill to tilt his head to one side as he considers the span of his experience, and what events might qualify in her estimation. "There are very few events I have witnessed in which I did not also participate," he admits. "I was created to be a creature of action. Decisiveness has always been an element of my task."
He gingerly hefts Stormbreaker in one hand and strokes the mallet-head with his other, a gesture of solemn consideration. "That being said... you are not the first to call me noble, and to utter my name with reverence and hope."
He casts his face downward. "I once fought against alien aggressors seeking to destroy the Asgardians with elite units they called Godkillers. In that defense, I was captured... tortured... and Stormbreaker was taken from me, mutilated, and pressed into service for my enemy. Only by the strength of Mjolnir did I prevail in the end. But not every soldier of the offending race elected to nurse a grudge. Instead, several of their number splintered away, seeking to..."
His gaze shifts back to Beth, and the sag of his frame tells her what his expressionless face cannot... that he is embarrassed to complete the sentence.
"...worship me as their god." He releases a quick breath, a sigh of awe and discomfort. "So convinced were they of my strength of heart and of will, so moved were they by what they saw in me, that they wished to erect a temple dedicated to me. Scribed a holy tome that documented my exploits, my actions, my words, in excruciating detail."
His fingers curl a little more tightly about his weapon. "So desperate were they for faith, that they invested it in me... which is perhaps an even greater risk than placing their lives in my hands, as my own people did. These Skrulls, formerly enemy soldiers tasked with destroying Asgard, staked their very souls on the notion that I was worthy of deification."
He glances away from her now, as if admitting the encounter is something shameful. "I have seen the birth and destruction of worlds. I have celebrated and mourned races. I have faced wonders and blights of the universe. I have done battle with armies and aliens and gods and devils. But on that day, to be held in such esteem by those who had once seen me as only an enemy and an aberration... I was overwhelmed."

Exclusive — Jesse Jensen: ‘If You Fire Nancy Pelosi,’ U.S. Is ‘Back to a Better Way of Life’
Jesse Jensen, a former Army Ranger, is currently looking to unseat radical Democrat Rep. Kim Schrier (WA) in the midterms, told SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Saturday this weekend that he will flip Washington’s Eighth Congressional District to Republican in the upcoming midterms and fight Schrier and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
Jensen previously ran against Schrier, coming within a few percentage points of winning the district last year. Earlier this month, he announced his candidacy to run again against Schrier, hoping to unseat her and take back the majority in the House to fight Pelosi.
Host Matthew Boyle, Breitbart News’s Washington Political Editor, asked Jensen about his service and how the former Army Ranger completed the training with a fracture which unfortunately led to a broken leg. Jensen jokingly mentioned that he was a strong ranger and not a smart ranger. However, he said joining special forces put him on the trajectory to be deployed to Afghanistan four times, where he received two bronze stars for his service.
Jensen said that alone shows the major differences between Schrier and himself. He said, during the Chinese coronavirus pandemic, Schrier “refused to go to D.C. during Covid, she invoked her proxy vote, she gave her proxy votes to Nancy Pelosi and didn’t vote in person for the payroll protection program.” He said if you wanted to equate that to himself, that would be like “going in front of my troops and saying, ‘Hey guys, I want you to go out inside America’s wars, I’m gonna stay here, and I’ll give my proxy votes to the platoon sergeant.'” Jensen said he was always the first person out of the helicopter and the one running towards the fight, not away from it.
Boyle asked Jensen to talk more about his life growing up and becoming the first in his family to graduate from college, being able to afford college due to his grandfather co-signing on his student loans, and later joining the military. Boyle asked why he decided to enlist in the army later in life after college and after joining the work force instead of before.
“I was actually working on Capitol Hill, and I was driving a U.S. senator to Walter Reed, and we met a young man who had stepped on an IED and sadly lost both his legs and was catastrophically burned,” Jensen explained. The wounded soldier “looked the Senator and myself in the eye said, ‘Gentleman, the only thing I wanna do is go back to Iraq and be with my guys.’” Jensen called that a gut punch and a wakeup call, explaining that three months later he was in South Carolina for basic training.
Jensen said growing up, he was on the edge of working-class poverty. “I grew up on the working of the edge of working-class poverty. The way that my dad got through the day was from venison, from deer meat, that was donated by his congregation. And this is the American dream. You can pull yourself up, and you’ve got the Democrats that are raising inflation, raising your taxes. My opponent reports a Washington state income tax, and you bet she’s gonna increase your taxes in Washington, DC.”
He said running is like a call to service, and he hears that call again. He said, “This is actually my second time running. The last time we came within seven thousand votes of winning the entire thing, and the reason for that was we talked about service and leadership. We talked about getting stuff done, and I was out-raised five to one out-spent ten to one. It’s gonna be different this time.”
Boyle mentioned that the district he’s running in is where the defund of the police movement started as it is the home to the CHAZ/CHOP zone, and Schrier, his opponent, is a radical, lawless leftist.
“Not only has she defunded the police,” he explained. “She actually cut millions of dollars from the COPS grant last year, both, so she literally voted at the federal level to defund the police, but then, she voted for $1.9 million more for increased security for herself at the Capitol. It’s insane.” Jensen dubbed it his opponent’s “rules for thee, not for me” mentality. Jensen again mentioned that during the Chinese coronavirus, she voted by proxy but wants everyone else to do their jobs.
When talking about the CHAZ/CHOP zone, Jensen said he toured the area and talked to people inside. “I talked to a guy who was armed, wearing this crazy Halloween costume, and he was claiming to be a security force” to protect the people inside. When asked if they were willing to shoot and kill police who try and enter, Jensen said the guy would not comment. However, Jensen said that the left hates the border wall, checking IDs, and guns, but when he went inside this zone, they checked IDs, had a border wall, and all held guns.
He said it is incredible that his opponent is trying to make everywhere less safe by defunding the police. Jensen mentioned that Schrier went on a ride-along with the local police to “try and increase her image” and asked them, “What’s all this with the qualified immunity and use of force.” Jensen said the she had no idea removing qualified immunity “would require police officers to essentially get malpractice insurance” and would cause huge exits from the force, which are already happening.
Boyle asked what the difference will be for Washington’s Eighth Congressional District and the country if the Republicans take the House and Pelosi is out of the speakership.
“Well, your taxes won’t go up, for one. Inflation will go down and Critical Race Theory won’t be taught in your classrooms. The list goes on and on, we’ll have the economy be better, we’ll have a more secure border, and law and order will be essentially established,” Jensen said. He also mentioned that his local grocery store has its deli shut down because the store is unable to find anyone to work. He said that even a local trucking company has “200 applications for dock workers, four people actually showed up.”
Jensen told Boyle that it is “Amazing people are gaming in the system, they’re applying for these jobs so that they can keep the generous unemployment that’s paying them more than minimum wage to stay home so that they don’t have to work. These are the kind of policies that hurt small businesses. These are the kinds of policies that hurt workers. These are the kinds of policies that make us less safe, and it’s all thanks to the Democrats. If you fire Nancy Pelosi… we’re back to a better way of life.”
Breitbart News Saturday airs on SiriusXM Patriot 125 from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Eastern.

Fate and Phantasms #28: Alexander
Tumblr media
Welcome back to Fate and Phantasms! Today we’re building everyone’s second favorite (or most, idk how that drama working out) person named Alexander, the Great! Iskandar Lily is a bad-ass kid with a bad-ass horse, so this build will be part Cavalier, part Oath of Glory Paladin.
As always, a spreadsheet for the build can be found here, and there’s a level-by-level breakdown under the cut!
Background and Race:
Alex the Great technically has some god blood in him, but you can’t really access it while you’re a kid, so Human it is. That being said, you are pretty great at being a human, so why not be a variant too? This means you get +1 in Charisma, because he’s a precocious little tyke, and Dexterity, because he doesn’t sit still. You also get one skill proficiency, and you won your horse by noticing how much it doesn’t like its own shadow, so you’ve got a lot of Perception. Finally, pick up Mobile as your bonus feat. With this, your speed is increased by 10′, you can ignore difficult terrain while dashing, and if you make an attack against someone they can’t hit your with an opportunity attack. Those first two won’t matter much by level 5 (spoilers!) but that last bit might still be useful, I don’t know exactly how this and mounted combatant works when combined (more spoilers).
You’re most famous as a conqueror, but you haven’t even started soldiering yet, so you’re still a Noble. This gives you proficiency in History, because you’re a part of it, and Persuasion, because you’re just goddamn adorable.
Stats
First, put your highest score into Charisma. You literally have two skills based on how charismatic you are, so you’re naturally pretty good at it. Second is Dexterity; you’re still a kid, so you can run and tumble around like no one’s business. After that is Strength- you have been trained in swordplay by this point, but you’re not swole just yet. Fourth is Constitution; you’re a growing boy, your bones probably heal pretty easily. Finally, put your last stats in Wisdom and Intelligence. You’re actually pretty sharp, but you are still a child. And also we don’t really need those stats.
Class Levels
1. Paladin 1: Your godly bloodline might not be enough to qualify you for Aasimar status, but you can still pull some strings to become a paladin. First level paladins get Divine Sense, letting you see extraplanar entities trying to sneak up on you, and Lay on Hands, giving you a little sack lunch from momma Olympias that you can share with your party if you want.
2. Paladin 2: Second level paladins get a Fighting Style (yours is Dueling btw, makes your shortsword super deadly), Spellcasting (using charisma as your casting ability), and a Divine Smite (burn spell slots for extra damage). Surprisingly, there’s zero smite options that involve lightning damage, but maybe you could talk to your DM about changing that. When you start slinging spells, you have first level slots, so I’d suggest looking at spells like Compelled Duel and Heroism so you can be like your heroes in the Illiad as well as Thunderous Smite, since it’s the closest you have to a lightning sword with rules as written.
3. Paladin 3: Third level paladins have Divine Health, making them immune to disease. They also take up a sacred oath to which they dedicate their lives. You’re following in the footsteps of great heroes, making you a shoe-in for the brand new Oath of Glory from Theros. Glory Paladins gain oath spells that are always prepared, starting with Guiding Bolt and Heroism at this level. You also get two Channel Divinity options that can be used once per short rest. Peerless Athlete can be used as a bonus action, and for 10 minutes you have advantage on athletics and acrobatics checks, a doubled carrying capacity, and an extra 10′ of jump distance on both high and long jumps. Inspiring Smite is also a bonus action, and after divinely smiting someone you can use it to give 2d8 + your paladin level temporary HP split up amongst any number of creatures within 30′ of you; because you’re just so great that people want to keep fighting next to you.
4. Paladin 4: At fourth level, you get your first ASI. Grab the Mounted Combatant feat, giving you advantage on attacks against unmounted creatures smaller than your horse, the ability to redirect attacks at your mount at you, and evasion for your mount. As you’ve probably figured out, those abilities don’t matter at this level because you still don’t have a mount. Don’t worry though, you just have to hang in there for a level. It’s this kind of foresight that made you Lord of Asia.
5. Paladin 5: At fifth level, you gain an extra attack per action, as well as 2nd level spells. This includes the ever important Find Steed spell that lets you summon a celestial warhorse to act as your Bucephalus. As a glory paladin, you also gain new oath spells. Magic Weapon does exactly what it sounds like, making your weapon magical with a +1 bonus to attack and damage, because if you can’t make it electric you can at least make it really cool. Enhance Ability gives one creature (or two, if you target yourself while riding) advantage on a saving throw of your choice, as well as 2d6 temporary hit points if you chose Constitution, 2x carrying capacity if you chose strength, and zero falling damage from heights of 20′ or less if you chose dexterity. Honestly, the fact that you don’t have imperial privilege strikes me as pretty weird, given your freaking huge empire. Just don’t tell Nero that you got this.
6. Fighter 1: Now you may have a horse, but that doesn’t mean you’re good at riding it. To fix that, we’ve gotta take a detour. First level fighters get another Fighting Style, so grab Defense for extra AC. You also get a Second Wind, letting you regain health as a bonus action.
7. Fighter 2: Second level fighters get an Action Surge, letting you tack an extra action onto your turn once per short rest. Show that action economy who’s boss with four attacks in a single round.
8. Fighter 3: At third level, fighters get their subclass. As a cavalier you’re Born to the Saddle, giving you advantage against being thrown off your mount. Falling off your mount for less than 10′ also doesn’t cause falling damage, and mounting or dismounting Bucephalus only takes 5′ of movement. You can also apply an Unwavering Mark to enemies you hit. This mark lasts until the end of your next turn, and forces the creature to have disadvantage on any attack made against someone who isn’t you while they’re within 5′ of you. If they do attack someone else, you can make an extra attack on them as a bonus action the next turn. The attack is made with advantage, and you add half your fighter level to the damage. You can mark creatures an unlimited number of times, but can only make the attack a number of times equal to your strength modifier per long rest.
9. Fighter 4: Use your ASI to round out your Dexterity and Strength scores.
10: Fighter 5: You would gain an extra attack this level, but you already got one as a paladin.
11. Fighter 6: User your next ASI for more Dexterity, meaning more damage and AC.
12. Fighter 7: Seventh level cavaliers learn a Warding Maneuver, letting you react to anything within 5′ of you getting attacked. You can add 1d8 to their AC if you’re wielding a weapon or shield, and if the attack still hits, they have resistance to the damage. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your constitution modifier per long rest. You’re just a swell guy, helping your friends out like that.
13. Paladin 6: Back in paladin levels, you gain an Aura of Protection, adding your charisma modifier to any saving throw made by an ally within 10 feet of you. You’re just so great that even a fireball doesn’t seem like that big a deal when you’re around.
14. Paladin 7: As a glory paladin, you gain an Aura of Alacrity, adding 10 feet of movement to your speed, as well as the speed of any creature that starts their turn within 5′ of you (hint: this includes your horse). Between this and mobile, you almost don’t even need your horse (jk, you need your horse a lot. Make sure he knows what an important part of your life he is).
15. Paladin 8: Use your next ASI to max out your Dexterity for more damage, AC, and sick horseback riding tricks.
16. Paladin 9: Ninth level paladins get third level spells, including your oath spells Haste and Protection from Energy. Both of which will make Bucephalus even cooler than he already is, a mighty feat in itself. Some other spells to check out around this level are Elemental Weapon, the only way to get lightning damage on your sword with rules as written, and Dispel Magic, the Gordian Knot cutting of spells.
17. Paladin 10: As a tenth level paladin, you’re so calm and collected that you and friendly creatures within 10′ of you can’t be frightened.
18. Paladin 11: You now have Improved Divine Smite, adding 1d8 of Radiant damage to all weapon attacks you make regardless of spell slots burned.
19. Paladin 12: You toughen up a bit as you age, so use your last ASI for more Constitution.
20. Paladin 13: Your capstone level brings you fourth level spells, including your oath spells Compulsion and Freedom of Movement. For normal spells, you can use Death Ward to cheat two deaths for the price of one, if you cast it on yourself and Bucephalus. You can also find a greater steed at this level if you really want, but that kind of defeats the whole point of this build.
Pros: You are very mobile, both on and off your horse, and you can spread that goodness around to the rest of the party as well. You’re also great at being on a horse, with plenty of skills to protect your mount and make yourself (and it) greater.
Cons: Being on your horse isn’t necessary, but it is a big part of your build, and there are some situations you just can’t bring a horse with you. You also don’t have much in the way of ranged attacks, so flying or faster enemies can be a hassle. Finally, unlike rangers, paladin’s mounts don’t get better with leveling, so at higher levels you may find yourself pumping more healing and protection into Bucephalus than other members of your party. I totally agree with that decision mind you, but the other party members might get jealous.

Warnings: Swearing. Fluff?? Idk man just like a bunch of mushy mushy feely stuff
Pairings: Bucky x Reader
Summary: Reader is a Fixer/PR and longtime friend of Pepper Potts. There’s literally two parts left and thats just sad.
PS: So i was sick the past week and i decided to google my symptoms (even though it was literally a cold), and i found out that there was a US President that died of a flu shortly after his inauguration and i have never valued modern medicine more in my entire life. Idk why im telling you guys this, it was literally in my head and i just felt like “hey. maybe they wanna know??” and here we are. we have a strong immune system that can withstand the illness that once killed a president. now thats a superpower. pow pow.
PPS: please ignore the PS
Scroll to the bottom for the next part
---
 Bucky hated your assistant.
He loathed the poor guy more than he should have, more than he thought was possible. The random resumes that found their way through the slit at the bottom of your door, each one containing a female graduate far more qualified than the other, were just a small indicator of that.
You practically rotated around Jonah; wherever he was, there you were a few feet away and visa-versa. You had skipped morning jogs, always starting and ending your days in the boardroom amongst paperwork and your assistant. You were watching less Disney movies, spending less time with Morgan and the team, even Wanda had to drag you out of the boardroom just so you can drink coffee with her in the morning.
“You know, he makes her coffee now,” Wanda had said bitterly to Bucky, glaring at Jonah as he walked out of the kitchen with a fruit salad. “And he doesn’t even make it the way she likes it.”
Bucky frowned, turning in his bar stool to look at her, “you don’t make it the way she likes it.”
Red eyes glowered back at him, daring him to continue. “You starting to sound a lot like that walking lump of meat.”
“I’m not trying to offend you,” he raised his hands in surrender, “I’m just saying, she only drinks your coffee because she likes you.”
“Bullshit.” Her nose flared, “Bullshit and I’m gonna prove it!”
You had drunk her coffee and assured her that you liked the way she made it, told her not to listen to Bucky because you never did. Then your phone rang and you bolted out of the room before he could even say anything.
You weren’t you anymore, not the you that he was getting to know these past few months. You weren’t cooking with him anymore; your nights were strictly takeout nights. You weren’t scolding everyone like you used to, too occupied with whatever Jonah was saying or with whomever you were on the phone with to even cringe when Morgan clung to. You weren’t calling him a monument anymore and he was hating Jonah for it.
It was past midnight when he found you. You were sitting on the floor, barely awake, with papers scattered all around you and the TV on that news channel you always played in the background.
You jumped slightly when he sat down next to you, and that bugged him.
You let out a breath and laughed softly at your racing heart, with your hand on your chest, and that annoyed him.
You barely glanced at him when you said you thought he was sleeping, and that tipped the boiling pot.
“I made a list,” he said, one leg bent under the one stretched out behind you.
You nodded, focusing back on your laptop and the papers in front of you. “Are you gonna check it twice?” You retorted, “find out who’s naughty and nice?”
Your heart hadn’t stopped racing since he sat down. It had been days since your last encounter alone with him, you’d like to think that was the reason your stomach was knotting –given that your last encounter wasn’t a fond memory of yours – but you’ve known that sensation since his sea blue eyes met yours. Your heart had since forgotten its rhythm, beating at rates you couldn’t understand but accepted, nonetheless. The only problem now, was that you don’t remember how you smothered, how you ignored, those feelings before.
“I already checked it, and had Jarvis check it,” he said, his head tilting to the side a bit to get a clear view of your face, “but you haven’t interviewed them yet.”
“Jonah is irreplaceable.”
“The five years and three assistants you had when he dusted say otherwise.”
“Barnes—”
That’s not how you used to say it, he thought as he stared into the side of your face.
It used to sound so beautiful when you said it; so natural, so fluent. He couldn’t remember how many times he told people to call him ‘Bucky’, it was already an automatic response to being called anything else. But his tongue felt heavy every time you called him Barnes; his frostbitten heart warmed just a little, just enough to let him breathe again – live again. Suddenly, he didn’t want to correct you, to ask you to call him Bucky, because his last name had never sounded so good, so right, cloaked in your voice.
It would sound so much better, next to your name. He almost smiled at the thought.
Now, though, it sounded… worn. Like a part of it died when he fell of that train. Like it somehow survived the fall but wasn’t fully itself – in and out of consciousness – with only glimpses and fragments of what it used to be, pieces that were only scraped away with a rusted knife every moment they occurred.
“You might as well call me Soldat, if that’s how you’re gonna say my name,” the words left his lips before he could even stop them, acidic in their true form.
Because you said it in the same way you had once said Winter Soldier.
You visibly tensed, slowly turning to face him. You weren’t sure what to expect when you eventually looked at him, hostility perhaps – even blankness would have been acceptable. You certainly did not expect a sea of emotion staring back at you.
You glared into the kind of blue you never thought you’d like. “Don’t,” you began through gritted teeth, “don’t you ever say that to me, ever again.”
You didn’t want to feel the way you did whenever he was around, or whenever you thought of him. You had tried, countless of times, to rationalise it, make it into something you could understand. He was a monument of a man, you had tried to justify to yourself, a legend in the making. That had to be why you felt like your chest was going to explode with rage, why you couldn’t stop seeing red when you finished reading his files. It had to be because those timid blue eyes and that cheeky grin were forced behind a wall of ice, that the government was planning on putting him behind another inhumane wall, right? You were all sorts of angry because of the violations made by others, not because of the horrors suffered by him, right?
His blood was bluer than blue, because he was a war hero story waiting to be told. Not because you thought he was worth far more noble, far more royal, than any monarch.
He was Celestial-like because he lived through things no other human could, he survived terrors that people couldn’t even imagine. Not because he was the first person to ever make you believe in something… believe in him.
He was a monument, because… because, damn it, you had a thing for monuments and that had to be the reason you felt the way you do.
“Then don’t say it like that,” he fired back, moving an inch closer to you. “Say it like you used to.”
“I’m—”
“And get rid of him,” he interjected, reaching for your laptop and closing it.
“Jonah is not leaving.” You accentuated every word, glowering up at him. “That’s not even up for discussion.”
But you are, he wanted to say, you’re leaving me.
He shouldn’t feel like this about you. He wanted to believe that this, the feelings, was only temporary, was only one-sided. But he couldn’t. Not when his every decision, since he met you, revolved around whether you would approve. Not when his every thought, every word, every idea seems perfectly crafted to fit you in any and every way. Not when you let him rile you up – he’s watched your previous press conference; nothing gets under your skin. It couldn’t be one-sided, this unrelenting pull he feels towards you had to be reciprocated, especially when you’re staring at him like you just read his mind.
You weren’t Wanda, you couldn’t read minds, but you would have liked to. Especially when you swear you just witnessed an entire ocean dry up in those moody blues of his.
“Then what is?” His voice is softer, the knee of his bent leg laying just beneath you criss-crossed legs.
“What?” You breathed out, wondering when he had gotten so close so quickly. Was his file the one with super speed?
“What is up for discussion?” He clarified, removing the supporting hand to pluck the out of your hand and tossing it behind him. “Can we talk about how you’ve been avoiding me, since you passed out in the woods?”
You were staring into a filling ocean now, one that was filling rapidly and with hush waves you had never seen before.
“Can we talk about how you scared the shit out of me that night?”
They were relentless as they stared back, crushing into you so mercilessly that you thought you might drown.
“Can we talk about—” he swallowed, fighting to find the right words, “—what I want, for once?”
His hands were hot on your cheeks, your hands felt soft and delicate as they rested on his shoulders, your legs on either side of his. When had he moved you onto his lap?
“What?” You rasped out in confusion, unsure of how you ended up on his lap, unsure of why you wanted his hands back on your waist but still on your cheek.
Your chest was pressed to his, close but not close enough. “I wanna go back to that night,” he whispered, brushing his nose against yours. “I wanna go back to that moment, when it was just you and me. When you held onto me so tight, like you were scared I’d disappear if you let go. I wanna hold like that—”
“Ba—”
“I wanna hold you like that, every morning, so fucking close, so bloody tight—” his metal arm moved to wrap around your waist, hugging you closer to him, “I wanna wake up to you, in my arms, every time. Not just in the morning, in the middle of the night too, when you’re turning or when I just wake up because—” his right hand moved to cup your jaw, his thumb gently treading below your bottom lip, “—because I… I wanna give you my last name, make it yours, put a ring on every one of your pretty little fingers. Maybe give you one or two of those babies you pretend not to like, fuck, sweetheart. I wanna know what you feel like—”
“Bucky,” you tried to warn him to stop, but it came out as more of a whine than a scold.
“I know,” he breathed out a short laugh, pressing his forehead against yours and shutting his eyes. “I just—” he swallowed, “—I wanna love you so fucking bad, give you everything, give you all of me and more. Because, fucking hell, you deserve it all. I wanna build you that monument you never shut up about, wanna make an honest woman out of you—”
His lips brushed yours accidently, at first, then tentatively – as if checking to see if you wanted him just as badly as he wanted you – and when you didn’t pull away, he went all in. And, damn it all to hell, your lips were softer than he had imagined, better, intoxicating. He didn’t want to stop, he kept pressing closer into him, even though there wasn’t a breath between you both. You didn’t think you could stop, not when it felt like this; like something you couldn’t place, but somehow knew what it was, and it was exactly what you had been lacking all these years.
“Lemme—” his right hand tangled into your hair, his attempt to bring you closer, “—love you, darling, I can love you good.”

So you think the Chauvin verdict was justice
So at my job, I am a member of the recently created DEI team. DEI = Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Now, I knew going into it that it would most likely be & feel pointless, but I am willing to try to change the viewpoints and mindsets of these “liberals and allies” who think they don’t have any racist or white supremacist ideologies or mindsets. I endeavor to keep Black in the forefront and not let Black issues get pushed aside, pushed to the bottom, or lost in the people of color or LGBTQ+ discussions and debates. All of this is what recently led me down the rabbit hole about George Floyd and the Derek Chauvin verdict.
So of course, all of these liberals and coons are jumping for joy, thinking that justice was served and that we can all breathe a sigh of relief. THIS IS NOT JUSTICE. I would also add that justice will never be achieved while we are accepting of and distracted by symbolism and empty platitudes. We do not need George Floyd statues. We need an end to Qualified Immunity. We need to break up and take away the power of the police unions. We need to stop these demonic race soldiers, parading around as police officers from being able to get fired from one police department only to be hired in another one by taking away their Peace Officer licenses. I am not going to get into politics and the incompetence and ineffectiveness of our elected officials, especially the Congressional Black Caucus.
Don’t get me wrong, I am glad that Chauvin is convicted and has to spend time in jail. It’s just not enough time in jail. Especially considering the time he has already spent inside awaiting sentencing counts towards his overall time and that he is eligible for parole in 15 years or less. I managed to find a few examples while explaining my stance during the DEI meeting. Here are some sentences given to race soldiers that were actually convicted of a crime:
Derek Chauvin killed George Floyd - 22.5 years
Amber Guyger killed Botham Jean - 10 years (she is already appealing her sentence)
Jason Van Dyke killed Laquan McDonald - 6 years
Now to highlight more disparities within the justice system, here are a few examples of sentences given to Black men:
Michael Thompson was given 60 years for selling 3 pounds of marijuana
Kelontre Barefield was given 34 years for killing a police dog
Fair Wayne Bryant was given life without parole for stealing hedge clippers (he has been granted parole after spending 24 years in prison)
Willie Simmons was given life without parole for stealing $9
Allen Russell was given life without parole for possession of 1.5 ounces of marijuana
Matthew Rushin was given 50 years for a non-fatal car accident that was caused by his seizure
Let me clarify, I don’t agree with killing animals, but I listed Kelontre to highlight that the dog’s life is more important than the life of a Black person in the eyes of the law. How is it that Kelontre’s sentence for killing the dog is more than any of the race soldiers I listed got for killing an actual human being?
At this point I posed these questions to the group, if Derek Chauvin wasn’t white, how would he be viewed by society and how would he have been charged?
If Derek Chauvin wasn’t a “police officer”, how would he be viewed by society and how would he have been charged?
Beyond the obvious reasons, there are more reasons why I don’t feel sorry for Chauvin and neither should anyone else. As his mother mentioned during her plea to the jury (where she didn’t mention the Floyd family or acknowledge that her son committed a heinous crime), Chauvin was on the police force for 19 years. 19 years and he didn’t know any better? Chauvin was also one of the trainers for the rookies joining the force. A trainer didn’t know any better? He was literally teaching this to the new officers, yet they always claim that there are only “a few bad apples”. How can that be when the bad apples are teaching the new apples their bad ways? The cycle continues. There wouldn’t have been a George Floyd if Chauvin was dealt with after any of the numerous complaints filed against him throughout his career, most notably from 2017 when he hit a 14 year old boy with a flashlight and pinned him down with his knee for 17 minutes. So no, George Floyd wasn’t his first instance of kneeling on someone. I always say that you never get caught doing something for the first time.
Did anyone have anything to say after I said everything above? No. Just looks of shock and confusion. Now imagine what the world would be like if everyone took the time to do basic google searches and dig a little deeper instead of just accepting what the mainstream media throws at us and being happy when they say we should be. People have to learn to look beyond their comfort zones and think outside of their own beliefs. But in these divided states of Amerikkka, that would be too much like right.

The various variations of this very old proverb are based on the first variation, which is initial referenced by John Heywood in his 1546 book, Adages. The beginning is unknown, but it remains an excellent instance of how efficient sayings can be in communicating fairly intricate definitions utilizing very couple of words. is normally that no-one is in fact over objection, or immune from enjoying jabbed at them by 'minimal' individuals for behaving wrongly, irrespective of their condition.
What Are The advantages Of A Facelift?
The expression comes from as much back as Roman times when soldiers' pay was given in stipulations, including salt. The modern version possibly expanded from the one Maker referrals in 1870, 'real to his salt', suggesting 'faithful to his employer'. tories - political Traditional event and its members - the original tories were a band of Irish Catholic outlaws in Elizabethan times. more information of La-Lipo.co.uk crm derived from the Irish 'toruigh', from 'toruighim', meaning to rob suddenly.

If any person knows anything concerning the abstaining promise from very early English times please inform me.
Does body contouring really work?
Yes, body sculpting gets rid of fat cells and reduces the appearance of fat on targeted areas of the body. Whether using heat, cooling, or ultrasound, body sculpting treatments kill fat cells that are then excreted over the next couple of months, which is when you'll see full results.
Maker in 1870 recommends for 'tit for tat' the recommendation 'Heywood', which should be John Heywood, English playwright (not to be perplexed with one more English playwright Thomas Heywood ). According to James Rogers dictionary of quotes and mottos, John Heywood used the 'tit for tat' expression in 'The Spider as well as the Flie' 1556. thunderbolt - fictional strike from above, or a huge shock - this was old folklore and also astronomy's attempt to discuss a lightening strike, before the recognition of power. The original ancient expression was 'thunderstone' which originated from confusing rumbling and lightening with meteor strikes and shooting celebrities, as well as was later on superseded by 'thunderbolt' (' bolt' as in the short arrowhead fired from a cross bow). The word 'thunderbolt' provided surge directly to the much more current saying indicating a huge shock, 'bolt from the blue'.
Which is better Emsculpt vs CoolSculpting?
While Emsculpt can disrupt adipocytes (fat cells) leading to a reduction in circumference, the golden standard for non-invasive fat reduction remains CoolSculpting. Furthermore, CoolSculpting can target bulges from a double chin down to fat pockets above the knees.
Finally, and maybe a lot more feasibly, double cross stems from an old significance of the word cross, to scam or take care of a competition, from the 1800s (the term obviously shows up in Thackeray's 'Vanity Fair', to define a set horse race). Double cross particularly explained the method of pre-arranging for a steed to lose, however after that reneging on the solution and enabling the horse to win. couth/uncouth - these words are extremely fascinating due to the fact that while words uncouth is in popular use, its positive and stemming contrary 'couth' is not popularly made use of. Many people assume it is no more a 'correct' word, or do not understand that words 'couth' ever before existed at all. In fact 'couth' is still a completely reputable word, although it's not been in usual English usage given that the 1700s, as well as was provided in the 1922 OED as a Scottish word.
My Skin Tag( S) Has.
Neither 'the knees', neither 'big as a bees knee' show up in 1870 Brewer, which suggests that the expression expanded or ended up being preferred hereafter time. Based on Nigel Rees' well researched as well as trusted dating of 1923 for first tape-recorded use, it is likely that earliest real usage was possibly a few years prior to this. The money vernacular section has cash vernacular and word beginnings as well as definitions, and English money history. Mottos as well as expressions offer us several fantastic figures of speech and words in the English language, as they evolve by means of use and also mis-use alike. Numerous sayings as well as expressions - as well as words - have fascinating and unusual origins, and numerous preferred presumptions concerning meanings and derivations are mistaken.
Tumblr media
It deserves keeping in mind that playing cards were a very significant aspect of home entertainment and amusement a couple of centuries ago prior to TELEVISION as well as computer systems. cake stroll, item of cake/takes the cake/takes the biscuit/takes the bun - simple task/wins - from the tradition of offering cakes as prizes in country competitions, and also most likely of US origin. Maker tells of the tradition in UNITED STATES slavery states when slaves or complimentary descendents would certainly walk in a procession in sets around a cake at a celebration or party, the most elegant set being awarded the cake as a prize. The variations of bun as well as biscuit probably reflect earlier significances of these words when they defined something closer to a cake. On which point, I am recommended that the American version expression 'triumphes' probably comes before the British variation of 'takes the biscuit'. Maybe, maybe not, since 'takes the biscuit' seems to have a British claim dating back to 1610 (see' takes the biscuit '). This all increases further interesting inquiries regarding the different and transforming definitions of words like biscuit and bun.
How much weight can you lose with fat freezing?
CoolSculpting can naturally diminish between 20-25% of the fat cells in the areas it covers. he's/ she's a card - an uncommon or significant individual - opinions are divided on this set - almost certainly 'card' in this sense is based on based on playing cards - implying that an individual is a challenging one (' card') to play. Maker clarifies that the full expression in common use at the time (mid-late 1900s) was 'card of the house', implying a differentiated person. If the Shakespearian origin stands this significance perhaps mixed with and also was consequently additional popularised by the playing card allegory. Interestingly Brewer checklists several other now out-of-date expressions likening individuals and scenarios to cards.
Wilde maintained names of bad guys in a book, as well as alongside those that earned his protection by offering him with helpful details or paying sufficiently he noted a cross. When they stopped to be of use Wilde added a second cross to their names, and would certainly transform them in to the authorities for the bounty. Allegedly Wilde was eventually betrayed and mosted likely to the gallows himself. One more explanation is that it associates with the name of a British knowledge group in World War II, engaged in tricking German spies to flaw.
Biscuit in America is a different thing to biscuit in Britain, the latter being equivalent to the American 'cookie'. Bun to many individuals in England is a straightforward bread roll or cob, but has several older organizations to sweeter baked rolls as well as cakes. Early Scottish use the word cadet, later on caddie, was for an errand young boy.
The original definitions of couth/uncouth (' known/unknown and 'familiar/unfamiliar') changed over the next 500 years to make sure that by the 1500s couth/uncouth referred to courteous and well-mannered as well as crude as well as clumsy. At some stage in this procedure words ended up being much rarer in English. Their use was maintained in Scottish, which made it possible for the 'back development' of rude into usual English use today. Regretfully during the 1800s and 1900s couth lost its popularity, and its status as an 'main' word according to some dictionaries. Technically couth remains an appropriate word, suggesting cultured/refined, yet it is not utilized with excellent confidence or sentence for the reasons offered above.
brass neck/brass-neck/brass necked - daring or impudence/audacious, disrespectful, 'saucy' - brass neck and brass necked are combinations of 2 metaphorically used words, brass and neck, each independently implying impudence/impudent, audacity/audacious. As concerns brass, Maker 1870 listings 'brass' as implying impudence. Several of these definitions relate to brass being an affordable imitation of gold. A few of the meanings likewise associate with brass being an extremely hard and also resilient material. Phonetically there is likewise a similarity with brash, which has comparable definitions - rude, vulgarly self-assertive. At some stage throughout the 20th century brass as well as neck were incorporated to develop brass neck as well as brass necked. black canine - clinical depression or sullen state of mind - an expression extremely old beginnings; the cliché was made famous in recent times by Britain's WWII leader Sir Winston Churchill referring to his very own anxieties.

Flask hated all the secrecy that they had to go through to get the job done, she was quite sure that it wasn't actually necessary. Still, it's not like she could say anything against the actual government organization. It was their mission, so that game was supposed to be played by their rules. Still, keeping them desinformed even after they met was such an annoyance to say the least! The small scientist shook her head to push away the angry thoughts and nodded to the hybrid. "That does make sense. Though it looks even more suspicious now. That couldn't be the only reason why specifically the two of you were picked." Flask gently pet Harmony's head as she was deep in thought. She leaned onto Volt's hand, pulling the small werehog closer in so the three of them were sitting in a cuddly tandem, while still able to look around.
The small scientist knew that Volt was remembering the road and left it to him. After all, her memory was much worse and albino's head was occupied with different matters. Still, the roadblocks were not left unnoticed and left quite a bad taste in the chemist's mouth. Well, at least they were about to get into the town itself, so all of their questions would soon be answered. They stopped soon and Volt immediately took charge. The small scientist didn't mind, he had much more experience in situations like that one. Flask grabbed her backpack and quickly reached for her pocket, pulling out the masks she took with her.
Jumping out after Harmony, the mouse approached her. "Wait, don't go any further! Please, put this on first." One of the masks was given to Harmony and another to Volt. "You might be immune, but I am not taking risks with both of you." She said in an insistent tone, putting the mask on herself.
The driver jumped out of the car and waved his hand, gesturing the three to follow him. After they were ready, they followed him trough the forest, walking around the open area, which as it was fair to assume was the infected town. It didn't take them long before they reached an unnatural clearance, where medics and soldiers were running around chaotically and sometimes bickering between each other. The man led them to the big green tent from where two loud voices could be heard.
"I don't need any help! The situation is under control!"
"No, it's not, Doctor! You've been saying it for a week now and now we have the infected within the medical crew and my men! Take your pride and shove it! I invited here a qualified scientist and you better treat them with respect!"
"I don't need some inexperienced animal to tell me what I should do, of..."
Flask sighed, rolling her eyes and swung the door cover of the tent wide open before the driver could announce their arrival. "The matter of experience is still up for discussion, doctor." She said in a steel cold tone. If one who didn't know that she was a scientist looked at her, they would be having no doubts: the straight posture that was making her look at least fifteen inches taller, the white lab coat soaring from the wind behind her back and the cold calculated look in her eyes. All of that mixed with her voice, straight and calm like a blade, quickly turned the mouse into a real mobian of science, someone you had no choice but respect. "But I will mention that the respect for other races is gained through exactly experience of communication with your patients. So I would quite appreciate you showing it." Firmly the mouse walked over to the table at the middle of the tent where two men were standing: one in a fancy military uniform and another in an expensive looking lab coat an a mask on his chin.
"Now if you don't mind, I need the details on the current condition of the infected. The more the better."
mobian-of-science‌:
Flask chuckled, looking at the fluffhog, who as it turned out, was the one who dragged her father into another adventure. “That’s the right set of mind, Sunshine!” The mouse supported the girl’s choice and offered her fist for a soft fistbump. “It never hurts to help. After all, the good that you’ve done to another not only feels pleasant, but will also be returned to you multiplied!” The mouse said with certainty in her voice.
The albino gently hugged Harmony with one of her hands and looked at the hybrid. “I only know that there is a slightly new virus going around the place that we are heading in. I was tasked to find the vaccine for whatever is causing trouble there. But seeing that you two are also on the case, I feel like there is a bit more to it… I surely hope nothing horrible is going on there. The uncertainty is really doing a number on my nerves…” The small scientist shivered and sighed. “But I cannot say that working with you is bad news. I am quite glad that I am in a team with people that I can trust.” Flask looked out of the window, hoping that everything would be alright…
It took the car more than four hours to reach its destination. They went through a quite noticable roadblock and proceeded into the forest as Harmony and the mouse were busy playing ‘I spy with my little eye’. The white vehicle entered a seemingly empty town. Just looking at it was depressing and even slightly scary. The small scientist looked at Volt, trying to understand what he thought about it. She was sure that her boyfriend would be more than capable of calming down her worries with his chill and serious dominor.
Harmony had been more than willing to return the first bump with her tail wagging against her father’s stomach. As before their driver had been nearly completely silent except to tell them that they were on their way and that was about it. It made Volt roll his eyes but he did focus back on his girlfriend as the pup was hugged. It seemed Flask had a bit more information than they had been given.
“If it’s a new virus, then that was probably why Harmony and I were brought in on it. I’m mostly immune to viruses so it won’t put me out easily and Harmony’s pretty resilient.” He did bring his arm around Flask’s shoulder to help her remain calm as they drove and Harmony went back to looking out the window.
Making it all the more easier for the two girls to play I spy as they went while the hybrid himself was taking in the route as well as the extra security. The fact that there were roadblocks and security details as they went had him wondering on just what kind of virus they were contending with. Even Harmony was picking up on something not being right, but that was by the time they entered the town. Her nose wiggled as she tried to pick up a scent of anything and then looked to him as he gestured for them to get out.
“Just stay calm, I’m sure we’re about to get more information now that we’re here.” The hybrid’s gear was quickly gathered from next to them and Harmony hopped out first so that she could sniff around again before the adults followed.
