And what’s better than to start the new year with shameless promotion of a fanfic that I’ve discovered lol

The fanfic I’m talking about is called “Always Make Sure Your Paintings Have Been Vetted by an Exorcist” by Qwagly

Don’t mind the name, because this one is an absolute gem! It’s so good, I’ve even robbed @tuttiwrites into reading it, which resulted with us meeting in DMs, fangirlin whenever a new chapter gets released.

Don’t let the amount of chapters scare you away either (currently 15) because it’s really easy to read and gets quite captivating with every story piece you discover- it’s addicting and I’m carving for more lol

For the context of the artworks - it’s basically some scenes that appear in the story.

The fanfic is so fantastic written, it deserves at least one piece of fanart! 👌

SINI HEAR ME OUT!! The possibilities that come from reader forming an unlikely friendship with chonkli not knowing that he’s really a person let alone the Rex lapis! Like imagine the teasing drama of reader jokingly saying something like “Don’t tell anyone but if Rex Lapis was just a regular mortal, I definitely would’ve fancied him! Sigh too bad that’ll never happen, I’m just a boring ol’ human and he’s a mighty god, I could never meet his standards! I’m sure I’ll meet a gentleman like Rex lapis eventually, but boy does he take his sweet time…” meanwhile chonkli is sitting on their lap already smitten with his kind and cute human… There’s so much fluff, angst, and drama to be had! So many blurb ideas…. Yet so little time… 😔

He'd bide his time, trying to think of the perfect scenario in which he can reveal himself to you without scaring you, explain everything carefully, and then profess his own desire to be with you! (But if we go the angsty route he'd probably try to rein in his desires because the whole immortal and mortal issue...in which case he'd likely stay Chonkli with you.)

For now, though, patience is a virtue and boy is he virtuous (paired with all the scritches and petting and stroking, he's taking his sweet time just enjoying the moment and further understanding you as a nuanced being).

I’m writing my fic, right? And I’m also thinking of doing a one shot about the Black family realizing that they’re all in secret gay relationships (the cousins, as in Regulus, Sirius, Narcissa, Andy, and Bellatrix.) And in both of them like everybody is gay. And yes this is tumblr, yes this is gayland, but seriously. How gay can I make this? Are people gonna be annoyed?

I don’t want to make it so I’m sort of playing a system of checks and balances with my relationships. But also, like, there’s a statistic and as much as I’d like to believe the ‘everyone is a little bisexual’ thing, that came from someone who thought homosexuality was a mental disability and a lot of people are just Straight. So what do I do then?

I got thinking about Splashtail today and something that I've been stuck on is just how young he is. I kept thinking he is awfully young to get involved in a conspiracy to replace his Clan's leadership, especially to think he deserves a shot at being leader himself. But the more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

Mistystar has made some really bad choices in the past two arcs. RiverClan was weak enough to get conquered by Darktail, and afterwards, Mistystar shut off all communication with other Clans — to everyone's detriment — for the purpose of "giving RiverClan time to recover" but it honestly felt more like a choice made by paranoia to me. And of course in TBC, she sided with "Bramblestar" even to the point of exiling two warriors to appease him, even when it was clear to almost everyone else that something was wrong with him and obeying him was wrong. She's appeared as increasingly weak and illogical as time has gone on and she's gotten older.

This is the RiverClan that Splashtail grew up in. The only RiverClan he's ever known is one weakened by Mistystar. And for a good portion of his life, the Clans have been terrorized by the hunt for codebreakers while StarClan has been absent. If he's the sort of guy to naturally have doubts and concerns about these sorts of things, it makes a lot of sense that he would end up disdainful towards Mistystar and StarClan and want to change things. I think in this case, his youth is what makes all this make sense to him.

I do remember seeing on the dreaded red app some people seeing the "Messmer mourned the loss of a brother-in-arm" quote and the fact that he didn't execute Andreas and Huw as a sign of being merciful but also like. His treatment of them is the opposite of having mercy. He quite literally entombed them alive and left them to starve to death alone if not for the company of stone statues and sorcerers long gone mad
