in the show they had Tak see/talk to Quell to work through things or almost like a conscience but in the book he talks to DeSoto instead and idkidk I think there was a missed opportunity there for the show

Takeshi realizing that Quell is really gone. Her voice fades out of his mind and so does the images of her face that come to him in his whiskey-drunk moments where he can almsot pretend like he’s not truly as fucked up as he feels like he is- and he mourns the loss of a memory 250 years dead and a heart 250 years broken newly flooded with a grief for something that wasn’t even truly there in the first place.

Quell never really wanted to be with him anyways. All she cared about was her rebellion. Her projects. Was her constant rejections and barely returned kisses a staple of love? She knew the both of them would die young- that nothing was written in the stars for them but death. Why waste the time?

But now, Takeshi is back, and he feels that pain as if it were yesterday, feeling the crushing weight of his guilt and his grief settle over his shoulders like it had once done for years on end, never once getting a break. He felt his back ache and his joints tighten as it became to hard to carry such a burden with him for so long.

He will never see her again. She is dead, and Takeshi is a lone traveler searching and clawing and scratching at anything that is a reminiscence of her and how it felt to look into her eyes and feel a bit lighter than he does now. He was always weighted by the grief of life, but this is something he can’t forget. It doesn’t matter how many years pass on, he will still feel this- this- this ache and a stabbing pain in his chest he gets without even moving, simply thinking- and sometimes not even.

They weren’t destined for anything.

He lets her drain from his memory like tears down a dirty cheek, and he is no longer weighted by the question of ‘what if?’

Broken Angels - S02 x E08

After episode 5, season 2 really picks up. While it can't touch season 1 in terms of well, everything, it still was very entertaining.

The original Takeshi Kovacs (Anthony Mackie) was real deathed in the above clip, but his DHF might have been backed up by Poe, his A.I. buddy. So maybe he didn't die?

If the DHF backup isn't original Kovacs, his DHF clone (Will Yun Lee) that's sporting his birth sleeve is still very much alive and well. Personally, I hope he didn't survive. There is so much potential for his clone to take over the Kovacs mantel, well, if there was a season 3.

Will Yun Lee (Takeshi Kovacs - who played both the clone and birth sleeve) and Renée Elise Goldsberry (Quellcrist Falconer) were excellent through out the series. I hope to see them in more things.

Think I'll have to rewatch everything especially season 1, well because of Joel Kinnaman and his sexy self, DUH!

The Pokemon AU nobody asked for: PokeCarbon.

Takeshi Kovacs/Ryker Sleeve has only two Pokémon. Maybe there's some sort of restriction on how many pokemon you can keep in the future? Either way, Ryker only kept the one, Takeshi befriended his Eevee in the mountains as did Reileen with her own Eevee. Houndoom - Ryker's Pokémon a dark/fire type for Ryker's dark and fiery personality. Can mega evolve. Sylveon (shiny) - Takeshi's Pokémon, evolved only with high friendship and knowing a fairy move. What did they say about Envoys and friendship? Who knows, who cares. Takeshi Kovacs cared and that's why he has a Sylveon.

Some PokeCarbon headcanons. Envoys had Eevee's and their evolutions. Reileen had a Glaceon that evolved around an ice stone up in the mountains while Takeshi and her hid/trained. Quell had a Leafeon that evolved in the wooded area around the base of the mountain near a moss stone. Kristin Ortega is the only cop I'll assign the resident cop dog to in this 'verse, a Growlithe. When Ryker is detained, she keeps Ryker's Houndoom. His Houndoom and her Growlithe get on good. Houndoom is… conflicted when Takeshi is in the apartment. He looks like his trainer, smells like his trainer, but feels like a wish.com version of his trainer and only half listens to Takeshi and only if it's to protect Kristin because that's what Ryker would have wanted. At some point, Takeshi is able to use mega evolution with Houndoom.
