Deep-fried Goodness. A rare outing to Queen Street is an excuse to have fried chicken wings but this is no ordinary American hack but from Lowbrow at Queen's Rise. Racked with angst & indecision, the Lowbrow sweetperson suggested Uncle have a half & half of the chicken wings - Lowbrow original & hot spicy, and organic Bostock chicken wings they were some more. No better chicken wings than these that's for sure, aided with an aioli dip. Decadence on decadence and we love it. Uncle decided the spicy & sour cabbage slaw wouldn't go amiss - shredded cabbage, apple cider vinaigrette, toasted peanuts and piquant seasoning. It's okay, Uncle has a tennis game the next day. The Queen’s Rising is an epic fantasy that I fell in love with. I love this story and this book and I can’t wait for you all to read it too! 👑 .⠀ There is so much depth to this book I don’t know if I can properly convey it in an instagram post, so be sure to check out my full review of this book on the blog, link in bio! My comments below may make this book sound confusing – and it is, a little bit at first, but once you get into it, things make sense and its so EPIC and I LOVE IT!!!⠀ .⠀ The first few pages of The Queen’s Rising begin by showing maps, family trees, and listing important characters. Immediately I was confused and worried this would be overwhelming – but fear not! It will all make sense once you begin to meet the characters. Maps are great. The map will make sense as you read on!⠀ .⠀ In that sense, this book reminded me of Game of Thrones from the beginning – large histories, a lot of families ruling different areas of the kingdom – but none of the violence, blood, and murder that comes with Game of Thrones. The back cover says this is great for fans of Game of Thrones and I agree, if you’re interested in the family history and character relationship aspect – this is perfect.⠀ .⠀ Brianna is a passion of knowledge and studies with six other girls from a young age to become a master at her passion. (There is also art, music, dramatics and wit as passions!) I love the friendship between these girls who have become sisters. Female friendship is something we don’t see often enough!⠀ .⠀ One of my favorite things in the book is the lack of strong romance. There is some romance, but it is very minor part of the story. This isn’t a story about love. This is a story about bravery, about putting the rightful queen back on her throne and about family and the bonds of friendship.⠀ .⠀ I honestly couldn’t put this book down once I started reading it. It captures you and makes you want to keep reading, finding out what will happen next!
