Saw a 50th anniversary screening of Young Frankenstein at The Ford on Halloween. The Ford in LA is an outdoor amphitheater in the Hollywood Hills, built in the 1930s and looks like a gothic castle, so it was great ambiance. Guests had on some excellent movie costumes too.
Street Food Cinema hosted and gave a nice tribute to Teri Garr. RIP. 💔

valentines day pkmn wip ^_^
#im gonna put them on their own canvases and write a little abt their design insp and ideas#i had a lot of ideas but decided to go with the ones i felt worked strongest. although id love to go back to the ones that#didnt make the cut and see if i can rework them.. its a little hard to remember things that correspond to valentines day...!!!!#i wanted to do wedding dress gardevoir.. pearl necklace onix... romantic candle chandelure... heart balloon drifloon....#cherubird was supposed to be delibird but i found it hard to work around the santa theme without making it hard to recognize#so i decided to make it a new pokemon (fakemon?) entirely ^_^ based on seraphim doves and love letters#klefki is based on the pont de arcs bridge in france known for its lovelocks!! it collects charms like halves of best friend necklaces#lockets and lost wedding rings.. sawsbuck is based on tree carvings with lovers names and sakura branches#roserade is based on flower bouquets. i like how its design came out!! the body is supposed to look like a waistcoat#lopunny based on playboy bunnies. the fur on its wrists is supposed to resemble the cuffs. torso has the one piece suit#and their legs have the thigh high stockings. frogadier is based on romantic bubble baths with flower petals#tangela is based on curly old telephone wires that you twirl between your fingers when calling your lover kicking your feet in the air#decidueye has to be my fav though with the cupid theme. also used barn owls bc of the heart shaped face#i cant wait to finish these!!!! i can see these going on my portfolio for sure#my art#myart#pokemon#pokemon design#valentines day#wip#doodles

A cool detail that I really enjoy in totk is that there are more roads. Kakariko, for example, only had a single path in and out of the village in botw, but in totk the road goes through either side of the village. The world is more connected now, Hyrule is continuing to rebuild, and with the princess back, it's unifying again as well. It's just a really nice detail and I adore it.

You don't understand how good Scrooge's best moments feel if the story doesn't hold back on his unsavory miserly tendencies no one understands, getting dragged away from emptying the Money Bin could've hit so much harder- listen, listen, classic Disney Ducks are such... oh man, I was going to say rich the metaphorical meaning isn't clear in this context - they're fantastic characters, okay? You have no idea how layered Classic Darkwing was, while still having broad cartoony appeal. The closest they've ever gotten recently is maybe Gravity Falls and Wander Over Yonder. Actually, perfect example. Especially with the first season. Kids today see an episodic good time and wonder what the point is like a load of impatient cynics.
Like, they were sincere they didn't hold back the feels but they didn't MAKE you look at them either. The comedy and the sincerity were married. You didn't have the big moments you have the soft little catch in the voice during a casual scene. And then you'd get to the big scene and dang it'd rip you to pieces. Yes I am thinking about Little Girl Blue again, c'mon.
#I am not even trying to be coherent I have many feelings and they all tend to lead back to Darkwing Duck#My all time favorite Scrooge McDuck moment is this scene in the Rosa's His Majesty McDuck#Scrooge has discovered that the land that the Money Bin was built on is actually it's own tiny sovereign nation#which comes with the bonus of getting a huge tax refund#and several problems that comes with not having access to say utilities or the police force and also passports and so on#very silly very fun time#but towards the end he learns that getting the city taxes refunded will bankrupt Duckburg#so this ABSOLUTE LYING FAKER#very deliberately looks at a burning candle and with an indignant gesture burns the property deed#runs around like an idiot as if he's trying to put it out and then throws everyone out#Like he can't just be NICE he has to put on this whole show and it's so on purpose and I love him so much

Didn't know how much I wanted that job until I got the rejection email 🥲
#i mean. i knew i wanted it#because it's my dream job#i had an internship there a few years ago and loved it#i wasn't sure i was ready to move back closer to home because i really love my job and friends and community where i am#but i do miss my family and i don't want to miss my sister's entire adolescence#i went off to college when she was 3#she is now 10#and she needs her sister 🥺#so yeah i'm actually surprised i'm fighting tears at this#i also miss autumn. boy do i miss living somewhere with seasons#could be because a friend recently passed away and like me his family lived far far away#and that puts things in perspective#anyway i'm gonna leave work early and console myself by buying a fall scented candle at target#🥲#i have to remind myself i've only been in the job market for like a year and a half#of course i wasn't the most qualified candidate out of 175#but i had at least hoped to be referred to a hiring manager#federal jobs are dang near impossible to attain in my field of work#tag rant

I can’t even imagine how painful it must have been for Stede to come home and see that life had easily continued on without him. He left the world of piracy because he felt that he didn’t belong, that he had ruined all the parts of it he had touched, and that he had hurt his loved ones.
So he goes home to what’s familiar, to where he thinks he might have some sort of belonging…only to find that everything happily went on without him. That his portrait was painted over. That his son had forgotten him.
Like, in that moment, he has nothing. No crew, no love, no family, no belonging. The last little bit of familiarity he had is now foreign to him. What he knows doesn’t even know him anymore.
