Sugar & Spicy Books Chapter 7

Summary:  Y/N is an accomplished writer who is newly divorced, and out of fear of the unknown, moves back to her small hometown she swore she’d never come back to.  She comes across her best friend that never left, who helps her out of a tough spot.  Will old feelings arise?  Or is she just too big for such a small place now?

The girl told everybody.  She had been secretly recording her interaction with Y/N, and after she had left the book signing had gone down the street and recorded Bucky and Autumn as they walked to the hotel.  The video went viral, as well as the pictures taken of them kissing, and suddenly Y/N’s book tour turned into a long gossip session.  

“Is he the male protagonist?”

“Are you dating?”

“Is this book based on your life?”

“When is the wedding?”

Y/N and Bucky had laughed it off at first, but when the media storm continued throughout her book tour then after it was over, they became worried.  Her hometown was overridden by tourists, journalists and photographers trying to get any and all information they could about Y/N, Bucky, Autumn, and their pasts.  Y/N had even chased away a photographer at Winnie’s house one night after dinner.

“This is ridiculous,” Winnie scoffed.  

Y/N rubbed her face harshly as she helped put away the dishes.  “I’m sorry, Winnie,” she sighed.  “I never meant for any of this–”

“I don’t blame you, sweet girl,” Winnie quickly reassured her.  “This will all blow over soon, I’m sure.”

Y/N smiled and hugged her.  Later that night as she was settling in for bed she got a phone call from an unknown number.  She stared at her phone in confusion as Bucky sat on the bed next to her, watching her.  “Do I dare?” she asked him.

“Might as well,” Bucky shrugged.

She answered and put it on speaker.  “Hello?”

“You fucking bitch,” the voice barked through the phone.

Bucky scowled and Y/N rolled her eyes.  “Raf, I told you to lose my number.”  Bucky frowned even further when she said his name.

“I knew that ex-husband character was based on me.  God, you’re so annoying.  You couldn’t just get divorced and disappear, you had to drag everyone into our business.”

“We have no business anymore.  We’re divorced.  And the character is a dramatization.  You outed yourself as a shitty husband in court. It's a public record.  I had nothing to do with that,” she sneered.  

“And now you’re parading around with some new dude, who has a kid?  You wouldn’t have kids with me but you’ll adopt some bastard from nowhere?”

Y/N stared at the phone in shock.  She had never heard Raf talk like this before.  Bucky took the phone from her.  “Listen, Raf, if you call this number or ever insult our relationship or my daughter again, I will find you and show you just how capable I am of everything that was written in that book,” he said, referencing a fight scene in the book, his voice low and menacing.  “It may be a dramatization, but I’m not.”  He hung up the phone and blocked the number before handing it to her.  “I’m going to take a walk,” he grumbled, standing and walking out the door.  

“Bucky,” Y/N said, quickly following him, trying to keep up as he went downstairs and put his shoes and a jacket on.  “Buck, wait.  Sugar please–”

“I’m fine, Y/N,” he said sharply.  “Just let me go cool down.”

Y/N slightly recoiled at his tone.  He’d never used it on her before, and it worried her.  Bucky sighed at the look she gave him and walked back over to her, cupping her face in his hands and leaning down to kiss her gently.  “I’m sorry,” he said.  “I’m fine, really, I just need to walk off my anger.”

“Are you sure?” she asked quietly.

“Yes,” Bucky nodded, nuzzling her nose.  “I’ll be back soon.”  He kissed her again before grabbing his keys and walking out.  

Y/N sighed heavily, wiping her slightly wet eyes in frustration.  She decided to take action, texting her lawyer and publicist for advice, then going upstairs.  She set up her phone in the bedroom and pressed record.

“Hey guys, it’s Y/N.  We need to talk…”

The next morning Y/N awoke late, looking at her phone and springing out of bed.  Before she could make it out of the room Bucky met her at the door.

“Woah, hold on, honey,” he smiled.  “Don’t worry, I took Autumn to school.”

She huffed.  “Jesus, Buck, why didn’t you wake me up?  Aren’t you supposed to be at work?  I thought I had my alarm set–”

“I’m taking the day off, nobody’s car is immediately needed.  And you did, but I turned it off,” he said.  He led her back to the bed and sat down with her.  He held her hands in his, gently rubbing her knuckles.  Bucky stared at her hands for a moment before looking back up at her.  “I’m sorry for walking out last night,” he said sadly.

“You have nothing to apologize for,” Y/N shook her head.

“I just…I don’t want you to think that I just disappear when things are bad,” Bucky said earnestly.  “I was angry, and I didn’t know how else to work through it.”

“Buck, you handled it better than most people would,” she said, bringing his hands up and kissing his knuckles.  “I’m so sorry for bringing all this into you and Autumn and Winnie’s lives–”

“It’s not your fault,” Bucky shook his head.  They sat just holding hands for a few minutes, trying to process everything.  Bucky moved off the bed to kneel in front of her, hugging her around her waist and burrowing his face into her stomach.  “This isn’t exactly what I expected when you came back into my life, but I wouldn’t change a thing.  I want you, I want this,” he said while kissing from her stomach and up her chest, his arms tight around her.  “You know that, right?” he peered up at her.

Y/N smiled at him, her fingers running through his hair and scratching his scalp, making his eyes flutter shut.  “I know,” she said, leaning down and kissing him.  “I’m still sorry, though.  I made a few calls last night after you left.”  Bucky frowned.  “My lawyer is sending another letter to Raf, basically warning legal action if he won’t leave me alone.  I also talked to my publicist and made a video on my socials last night asking everybody for kindness and privacy, while also thinly veiling a threat to reporters to leave us alone or risk legal action, too.   So hopefully that helps.”

Bucky’s frown lessened at her words until he smiled softly at her.  “Thank you,” he whispered, sitting up more so he could nuzzle her nose.  “As fun as it is being your leading man, we’ve got a kid to think of.”

“We do,” Y/N smirked.

Bucky’s smile morphed into a deadly smirk.  “And maybe, in the future, another one?” he asked suggestively.

Y/N’s eyebrows raised high.  “Another one?” she breathed.  Bucky nodded, leaning in and kissing her lips lightly.  “You want a baby…with me?” she asked quietly.

He nodded again, ghosting his lips across her face.  “I know we haven’t exactly talked about our future together a lot.  But yes, I want that.  I want to marry you.  I want to have a baby with you.  I want you to be Autumn’s mom, to join the family that you’ve always been a part of since we were kids.”  Bucky kissed her lightly on her cheeks, her nose, her eyelids, her forehead, leaving her positively desperate for his lips, chasing him with her own.  “I know this has all been kinda fast since you came back, but I wanna make up for lost time with you, honey.”  He kissed down her jaw, sucking and licking at her neck.  “God, I missed you,” he whispered, sounding wounded, his fingers gripping her tighter.  “What do you say, huh?”

Y/N nodded heavily, her head leaning on his as he nipped at her throat.  “I want all of that, too,” she breathed.

Bucky slowly pulled away to look at her.  “Promise?” he whispered.

“Pinky promise,” Y/N whispered, smiling as she hooked one of her pinky fingers with his.

He chuckled, his pinky finger wrapping around hers tighter before bringing their joined hands up and kissing her knuckles.  “Pinky promise.”

a little rant ♡ ‧₊˚ ⋅ ౨ৎ ‧₊ .ᐟ

when I started posting about LOA here, I really didn't have any goal other than to vent and self-affirm/remember important things. I found myself on loablr in a way that my will to live returned because now I had "awakened" and I always thought that life was more than working hard to achieve things. I always compared myself a lot to others and deep down there is no difference at all. We are all pure consciousness. And when I discovered that we choose how we live, I got out of a hole that I had dug and was reborn.

i never expected to receive asks and end up helping people. When I received thanks and praise, I felt very happy because in addition to having achieved my goal of reaffirming myself, I was also able to reach other people so that they could free themselves like me.

but I can't deny that it started to get tiring, not only because the questions are repetitive and basic, but because I posted so much information, I dedicate myself to the posts and put myself in the place I was when I started, "What did I want to have read and accessed when I started that isn't here yet?" It could also be because I looked for everything on my own, I don't judge asking if you have doubts, I said that I love to help when the question is specific about something, because that also helps me think and challenge myself to see how much knowledge I have inside me, but when it's about "How do I manifest this? Is it possible? But what if?" I keep thinking that >I< was so interested in the subject, that I went after it on my own, consumed content, read Neville's books, I created my own foundation on manifestation so I wouldn't have to depend on anyone. and this was very useful even more now that one of my favorite "mentors" has revealed himself to be a bad person (edward art). i don't need to stick to a source, just the LAW. and be sure that it never fails.

and not only that but I used to be a person who had no desire to think good things, to try to have a good self-concept, I thought it wasn't worth it. My first view of the subject was the law of attraction, so I had the whole concept of toxic positivity, affirming a million times to get what you want, never lowering your frequency, never being sad. When I left that part and saw that LOA is not that, LOA is freedom, it is creation, it is your rules, it is your way and it will work, success is inevitable and failure is impossible, I really saw that even if it weren't real, this is the best way to live.

that’s why I also don't understand people who contradict LOA and try to diminish it, literally EVERYTHING about LOA is good, there is nothing more beneficial than living your life knowing the law and applying it. If you have to try hard to judge/diminish it, it's because you really don't have self-love, for me that's the only explanation for not wanting to live creating your reality your way.

and to finish, I'm going to take a break from posts and social media and focus on Neville's books for a while. There's no point in me getting discouraged about the subject because that will also take my focus away from applying the law in the best way possible. I can't deny that the futile questions discourage me a little. My break could last 3 days, 3 weeks. But I'll be back, and when I do, I intend to tell all my success stories and make more and more interesting and different posts.

These past few days, Hussam has been putting together 350 coloring books and colors for the children of the camps to both to help bring a bit of joy to their lives as well as encourage education and learning in the midst of not being able to go to school. Thank you so much everyone for all your help these past few weeks, because of you, we're able to put a smile on these children's faces!

Success is Dependent on Secret Information

A lot of career success depends on you and the work you put into it, as well as luck beyond your control, but sadly, it also depends on secret information, magic words, and stupid little tricks.

That's not fair. I don't like it, but we can help by sharing that secret information--which is the antidote to gate-keeping. That's why I recently wrote this in my Authors of Nonfiction Books in Progress substack:

It can be really disheartening to realize that, when you thought you failed at something because you didn't do well enough, other people had the magic words. For instance, some injustices I've witnessed (that may or may not always be the case, or maybe not anymore!) include:

A good athletic score doesn't get you into a college sport--having a coach or parent talk to the college coach is mandatory

Many school-sponsored scholarships are often not tightly linked to grades, test scores, or financial need, but whether the student said the right words ("I can't afford that") to the right person (presumably some financial office person.)

Apparently, some aspects of some degrees are cheated on by most students (if that's the case, we should tell all students that it's ok to cheat on that so they don't waste their time on something that apparently wasn't important anyway, or worse, fail out just for being ethical.)

Especially related to books: Few people will mention that you can get grants! Not my agent, not my publisher, not the 1 zillion "pros and cons of trad publishing" articles out there mentioned grants (Grant eligibility is a HUGE benefit of trad publishing.) I got more money from grants than my entire book advance!

Let me know what magic words/secret knowledge you've learned, that you wish you knew sooner. Or: the widespread understanding of what information would make a field more fair?

At work today a guy asked where our travel guides are. I was carrying a bunch of things & on my way downstairs so I could only point with my elbow but basically "that door & then straight to the end of the room, my colleague is there if you need help"

that worked out fine but when i was back upstairs at the library & sat down to continue placing orders he asked again, or rather "I can't find the region I am looking for" & honestly our traveling guide section can be a lot. Also if you don't know that we put some places together, it gets even harder. He was looking for some maps about Bosnia so I showed him.

That's when he saw my star of David necklace & complimented it. I said thanks & got ready to return to my spot. All of a sudden, as I am already halfway across the floor, he yells "Oh & I need something else. I need books about the Nakba. You know what this is, right? The ongoing genocide committed by the Jewish people"

I told him I know what he means & if he could wait a moment. I told my co-worker to please take over as adviser for me, told him what the man is looking for & that we definitely have books about the topic.

It honestly was the right timing because my shift would end in 10 minutes & two girls needed help with books about a topic I just had training for so I knew I could help them real fast.

The man ignored my co-worker & proceeded to follow me, shouting. I informed him that I am currently helping other people & my co-worker can help, he is actually in charge of our history & politics section. I got a "I don't want him. I want your help. You know what is going on, don't you?"

It took me somewhat snapping & more rudely informing him that I am currently busy helping other people & getting a bit louder myself. It also took my co-worker putting his body between the guy & me for him to go quiet & then mutter "so you're fucking busy" & leaving.

This isn't okay. This is antisemitism. I do not wear a name tag that shows I have a name more commonly found in Israel. I do not speak with an accent - yes I grew up the first years of my life in Israel & I have dual citizenship. But he does not know that. All he saw was a visibly Jewish person.

My co-worker had me go to our office & informed me I could leave once he went through our library & made sure the guy wasn't outside. Like sincerely this is fucked up. I want to wear my Star of David, I want to be visibly Jewish. I don't want to put myself or my co-workers in danger.

I didn't realize how much this fucked me up until I arrived home, sat down & suddenly just cried.

EDIT 31.10.24: I want to say even if I was visibly Israeli, even if I wore the Israeli flag THIS WOULD NOT BE OKAY . I need people to know that I actually love my home country - I hate the government but I love the place - I have family there, October 7th was a horrific massacre & my family lost friends that day .

While we still lived in Israel my father often took me along to discussions between Israelis and Palestinians, I was raised to hope and believe in a two state solution in which both Palestinians and Israelis can live in safety and dignity. I still hope in that.

hey guys! its been a long time since I did these but here you go. These are only based on what I feel and experience so chill back and relax 🤍

❤️‍🔥 Leo Rising: Yess I do love this placement it really gives me that cheerful vibrant youthful energy I always feel like I shine when I walk into a room and everyone kinda just stares at you I’m the introverted Leo rising tho lol but yeah no I don’t have thick shiny hair, bummer 😩 Overall 7/10

❤️‍🔥 Virgo Sun: I actually love this placement because it keeps me grounded and having that calm energy kinda book smart energy but the downside of it is having to deal with anxiety and shit phew 😮‍💨 Overall 7/10

❤️‍🔥 Libra Moon: Tbh I kinda hate having libra placements in my chart because it gives me that people pleaser energy having to please everyone and needing to fall in love and having crushes it’s exhausting but also having that pretty popular girl energy sometimes 💅🏼 Overall 6/10

❤️‍🔥 Virgo Mercury: Yesss I feel smart and intelligent lol but no really I actually adore this placement I wouldn’t have it any other way the brutal honesty and overthinking is real don’t get me started but yeah we only talk when we DO feel like it other than that we just observe most times 🤓 Overall 8/10

❤️‍🔥 Libra Venus: Oh gosh another libra placement great. nah but for real feeling the need to be in relationships all the time and needing reassurance is a big no for me my venus-saturn just don’t allow it to happen its kinda sad being a full time lover girl but YES we do flirt but we can be loyal if treated properly 🦋 Overall 5/10

Yes its obvious I’m in love with this placement it really gives me energy in every aspect and determination the passion and boi oh boi I feel sexy most times the downside of it is yes the cliche revenge and jealousy yeah, not so good 💋 Overall 10/10

❤️‍🔥 Sun in 1st house: Yeah I do vibe with this its just that no I don’t have no leadership qualities as everyone been telling and yes I hate having to attract attention all the time and being put in a spotlight but the aura is amicable you can’t deny 👑 Overall 7/10

❤️‍🔥 Moon in 2nd house: Foood indeed. I’m in love with food whenever I feel overwhelmed I will eat my favorite food if that what it takes to keep my emotions in check and yes I love keeping expensive material possessions and having a financial stability is also a mood boast 💸 Overall 6/10

❤️‍🔥 Mercury in 1st house: Ah yes the classic I’m an intelligent thinker placement nah but for real I do feel intelligent most times lol but yess the feeling the need to have all the information and knowledge is brilliant but also having to be that one witty funny friend that everyone has 🥸 Overall 8/10

❤️‍🔥 Venus in 3rd house: Woah the classic send me a love letter and poetry I’m so in love with this I feel charming and flirty having the advantage to keep a smooth conversations between an admirer and people its just very easy to navigate 💌 Overall 9/10

❤️‍🔥 Mars in 3rd house: Say that again and I’ll roast you and give you all my brutal honesty and receipts while we argue energy haha no but for real having to argue with people online most times just verbal argument when things do get heated 🗣️ Overall 6/10

❤️‍🔥 Mercury Retrograde: Speech delay? Talking and having to have a conversation with others feels heavy and misunderstood always made of fun of with the way I speak and text, having no trouble communicating with another mercury retrograde natal 📝 Overall 4/10

❤️‍🔥 Sun-Mars: It gives me energy? And yes I have a sextile aspect so it really do flows nicely and gives the endurance and energy physically and mentally it also gives you the need to serve in a military or navy career to release that physical energy that you need and yes we do have anger issues despite the positive aspect 🔥 Overall 8/10

❤️‍🔥 Moon-pluto: I am an emotional wreck rollercoaster yes I do feel everything so intense to the point that I feel numb at most times emotions are all over the place but I do hide my emotions pretty well when I need to. Having to experience that dark energy tho and knowing people’s intentions and be right 🎢 Overall 6/10

❤️‍🔥 Venus-Saturn: Yes and no I have a love-hate relationships with this placement because this placement keeps me in check and yes I can be loyal despite having an air venus, surprised. And no I hate having to wait for the love an actual love that you really deserve for a long time while having to watch others fall in love 💔 Overall 6/10

❤️‍🔥Mars-Jupiter: Reckless and Impulsive. This placement makes me feel goofy and funny lol and willing to take risk no matter how dangerous the outcome is the never ending energy but people do say I look funny when I get angry which pissed me off ngl 🥶 Overall 6/10

❤️‍🔥 Mars-Ascendant: Yes the bad bitch energyy indeed. I feel bad and sexy most times and yes I do get angry and do display that emotions on my face no matter how hard I hide it but downside of it is having to be misunderstood and people having bone to pick on you 👄 Overall 8/10

So, he trusts you implicitly. Unless persuaded otherwise. And it's pretty easy to convince him of something. Especially when he can't tell the informant that they're just overthinking something his darling did. Especially when he can't rationalise to himself. Especially when they just tell him: "Oh. Y/N? I saw her talking with some guy clad in a suit and tie. In the city." There. None of Thomas' speculations or anything. Just plain facts. That, he can never argue against.

That's how he ended up here, anyways. Pouting, sulking, refusing to speak to you as he sat crossly on his plush sofa.

"Raf? What's going on?" You asked, exasperated, for the 800th time.

"Don't act innocent. You know what you did." He stated, almost menacingly, and even you began to doubt yourself. Did you do something you were unaware of? Did you have some plans you forgot about, today? Did you make him wait? No... you were sure your calendar was empty for today.

"What did I do, please, enlighten me," you raised an eyebrow, standing in front of the sulking artist. He crossed his arms, not looking at you. He wasn't happy, you could tell.

"Where were you today?"

"...In the city? I told you, I had a day off. I went to run some errands for Tara-"

"You're still lying to me! That's why I'm mad! You were out with a guy!" He insisted, interrupting you. "All while I'm kept in the dark about your little trips. I bet he bought you flowers and booked your wedding venue too," he added, obviously exaggerating, but he didn't seem to think he was being any dramatic.

"Raf, what on Earth are you talking about?"

"You know what I'm talking about! Thomas said the guy gave you- Well I don't remember, but you were, and I quote, 'clearly interested' in him." He laid on the sofa like a dead fish, on his back. You thought he was definitely going to start floating too, if you didn't do something to stop this seemingly endless, and wordy cycle of self-destruction.

"You don't love me anymore.. fine! Go be with the bastard.. Leave this poor fishie here to dry out and die..-" he complained, putting his hand over his forehead, looking petulant, facing the sofa backrest. Suddenly, it clicked. You didn't talk to any guys today.. except for that-

"Rafayel!" You raised your voice, exasperated.

"He was an employer for Ever. He was looking for someone with experience with the N1-09 zone. He gave me an entry pass to the lab-.. NOT FLOWERS!"

Rafayel scrutinised your expression, trying to see if you were lying to him. But the genuine exasperation and growing frustration in your gaze told him to believe you or things wouldn't end well.

"..oh" He looked more bashful now, having the decency to sit back up, and clear his throat.

"heh...sorry darling."

"...Don't talk to me." You turned your head, refusing to meet his gaze now. How could he not trust you? "Hey.. no need to be rash.. Darlinggg..!" He exclaimed, alarmed, giving you 'fishie-eyes', trying to make it up to you.

"Cutie..." He hugged you from behind, pressing his chest to your back, resting his head on yours. It made you go warm. How could anyone expect you to resist going soft when he called you that?

"...asshole." you mumbled, relenting.
