I just found out that goober means peanut and now I can't think about anything else because my cats are little goobers and shaped like goobers!!

I used to call them squishy cats, now I'm calling them cat goobers, which is better?

Hiya, it's me!! I was struggling with my writing yesterday night and I thought of you and the time you got up to take down a note and ended up writing a whole story, and I realised that I've never read any of your works! I don't have an AO3 account, is there anywhere I can read your writing?

Oh wow! I'm so flattered. I really am so delighted that you thought of me. I do have the unfortunate habit of getting distracted and writing too much at the wrong time. I've written a bit of a range, and all for fun, but I do have it on Ao3. Under the same name. The only sherlock fic I have published:

I struggle with writing too. It was such a hard thing for me. I always got so frustrated with myself. I never got the tone right, I was dissatisfied. But the I realized that anyone could write and though my works wouldn't be as incredible as J.R.R. Tolkein or as funny as Terry Pratchett I could still write in my own words in my own style. That's when I started having fun. I haven't stopped since. <3 Thank you for the lovely ask. I'm just going to be hopping around all day in glee, thinking about this. :)

Netflix has just announced The Grays. And apparently, Dorian Gray and Basil Holmwood will be siblings...

True, I admire that they will be taking on the story from the angle of modern culture’s obsession with youth: Wilde himself was a role model of his contempory beauty culture, constantly changing his public persona to 'sell' the lifestyle he advocated and was subjected to the same scutiny and criticism as modern celebrity figures. But at the same time, I feel like the historical context of Wilde’s text is in dire danger of being lost in translation. Dorian Gray is a radical, living the ideal life of the counter-culture of decadence and aestheticism that Wilde embodies in his works and his lifestyle. Making him a victim of mainstream media — which I think the series has a high chance of doing — takes away a lot of the story's significance.

And let’s face the elephant in the room here: Dorian Gray and Basil Hallward as siblings.

Even if we decide to refute the literary critics who wrote books about the romantic subtext of Gray’s relationship with Basil Holwood, it is a strange decision to make. Basil Hallward and Lord Henry Wotton are both enamoured by Dorian (as a muse, as a study of human nature, as a lover — pick your poison, but you can’t deny it). Both are drawn by Dorian’s beauty and his innocence, but they act on their feelings in different ways. That is where we see the conflict between their characters and the values they represent: Lord Henry is cynical and a hedonist; Basil Hallward is sensitive and romantic. Lord Henry sees Dorian’s innocence and immediately goes to corrupt it; Basil puts him on an altar and admires him from afar. Turning Basil into Dorian’s sibling would take away one of the central conflicts of the narrative, as it potentially takes away the portrayal of how the two central figures in Dorian’s life idolise him for his youth and beauty — which is what the series is supposed to be about, the ‘fascination with eternal youth set against the backdrop of the modern beauty industry.'

All of my pets... Its a long list :) Pt. 1

I have had so many cats, dogs and other assorted animals come through my still very short life that there is no way to keep a record of all of them. Years have passed but the ones that have been there consistently are my darling kitties. Here I attach their rescue, because they are all rescues. Most of them rescued by me or my family.

I present to you: Chippy, or Chips, Or Chipmeister.

We found little Chippy almost thirteen years ago. We heard a small meowing outside of our apartment door. Sounded like a parrot, is what my mom always says regarding the incident. She opened the door and there was a small very young kitten. He was very sick when we took him in. We think that his owners bought him, far too young, and couldn't take care of him. So they put him outside their door, on the fortieth floor of an apartment building, and left him there. We took him in and nursed him back to health. He is strong and healthy now. He has quite the personality. We had to remove his teeth due to an illness he had from his gums. He loves his cuddles, and he loves him some boxes. He will also eat any and every piece of string laying around. Including your hair. He thinks he's sneaky about it when he sits by your head trying to get at you. If you try and catch him in the act he will immediately turn and start licking his own chest as if he wasn't making a move on your hair. And you don't want him to get your hair because it will come back up slimy. We named him chips because given the choice between a bowl of cat food and a bowl of potato chips he would always take the latter. To be fair though, cat food has nothing on potato chips. :)
