God I love puppies who have oral fixations with a voice kink, they’re just too easy sometimes and it’s so cute. They’ll walk around all day being a brat, giving attitude when we’re around friends or biting and pawing at me for attention i’m obviously busy.

But the moment I drop my voice a few octaves and tap their chin while saying “open” they’re on their knees, eyes glazed over and panting with their tongue out waiting to have their mouth filled like the dumb mutt they were trained to be.

My wife's service dog in training, Matilda, is trained to be super annoying at specific times of day. This is because my wife's executive dysfunction does not allow her to 'unfreeze' and therefore she gets 'stuck' in places/doing things long after she needs to move on to another task, room, etc. This isn't some arbitrary 'you should only play video games so long' type of thing. It's 'If unattended, my wife will not eat or sleep because moving from one thing to another is very hard'. Eating and sleeping are necessary things for survival, so moving to these tasks is necessary for survival. Matilda has therefore been taught things like 'ten pm is bedtime'. In order to help Matilda with this, her feeding schedule is on a pretty tight timeline as well--this way her internal body cues are lined up with the schedule of the day. For example, Matilda is fed between 8 and 830 pm (usually at about 810 pm, as it works out). She poops at 830 pm after dinner and she will throw a WHOLE FIT if she is not let out at this time. Daylight Savings has Happened to Matilda. She's only just a year old, so she does not remember Daylight Savings last year (she was two weeks old, roughly) and she does not remember the spring time change, either, as she was a fairly young puppy at that time and therefore not trained to a schedule like this. She is BEREFT. We're making her wait an hour for dinner. We're making her wait an hour for bedtime. She knows she needs to go out at 830, but it is not time for her to poop yet, which is BAFFLING. This poor dog. I'm sure she'll adjust in a week or two, but poor Matilda. We need to outlaw Daylight Savings. For Matilda.

Thinking about bratty puppies with oral fixations. Biting and growling at me for attention, whining and throwing fits until they finally feel my fingers push past their lips and down their throat. Such a fussy little thing that turns into a mindless drooling mutt after finally having their mouth filled, wagging their imaginary tail and looking up to me so cutely all dazed and heart eyed.

Being so happy to have one of their holes used by their owner no matter how simple or degrading, because that what they’re made for. Just a pretty set of holes for daddy to ruin and play with. <3

Hey friends! I recently found out that Dog Splash, our area's only indoor dog pool, is struggling financially and may have to close its doors by the end of January. There is currently a GoFundMe set up by a volunteer of a local rescue, in hopes to help support them through this.

We love Dog Splash and would be devastated to see it go! We only just became customers in November and already it's become a beloved part of our routine. Dog Splash provides an invaluable service to the community, this is the only place like it anywhere in the area. Providing a safe and welcoming environment for dogs to swim year-round, all for a reasonable price, this is not only great fun and excellent exercise and enrichment in general, but also wonderful low-impact exercise/physical therapy for older dogs/those with orthopedic issues, like my Maple, who loves to swim!

And under the new management that acquired the business a year ago and worked so hard to turn the place around in the past year, they are even willing to accommodate our fearful reactive dog Juni too, so I really hope to get to bring her in soon! For those with reactive dogs, you know how hard it can be sometimes to find safe places to get your pups the exercise and stimulation they need. All dogs deserve opportunities for fun and enrichment, and Dog Splash does not discriminate and helps to accommodate and provide that opportunity for all, in a safe and welcoming manner.

Not only are they providing a unique and important opportunity for local dogs and their owners, they also kindly allow dogs of local rescue to swim free of charge to help them get some much-needed exercise and time outside a stressful shelter environment, letting these dogs decompress and get real world experience, which can go great lengths towards getting them adopted.

This place is amazing and the owner is very kind. Last time we were there, they gave us homemade Christmas cookies. This local small business is truly a labor of love for them, and beloved by the dogs and their owners who go there to swim.

I must admit it exhausts me a bit when people compare the interactions between the companions in da2 and veilguard and complain that the veilguard crew don't argue viciously enough or don't have enough fundamental unbridgeable ideological differences. like yeah it's almost like dragon age 2 is a game specifically about implacable human discord in all its forms and that's the theme the companions also build up under and provide a lens to look at. and perhaps. just maybe. veilguard is doing something different and also interesting thematically if you look at it for what it actually is, and its companions are playing into those themes instead (come become beside me my friend none of us have this figured out but at least we have each other along the way. you must struggle with who you are. despite the high high stakes on paper, veilguard (sometimes to its detriment, often to its advantage once you realize this is what it's doing) is really not that interested in outward conflict, between ideas or groups or individuals -- most of the real meat and potatoes is in the internal struggle of the characters with themselves and their identities, the ways they've been changed and also stay the same, it's weirdly deeply trans all the way to the depths of the narrative that way, as well as fundamentally being about trauma recovery. again, what you're ultimately fighting is not actually in the realm of elgar'nan and ghilan'nain at all, it's on the level of solas' despair and his regret over what he's done and who he's become).
