I had the pleasure of collaborating with the wonderful @la-sera again and I colored her puppet Hyrule.

Legend and Hyrule definitely don’t have a good time right now…

Koholint wasn’t real

Fanfic prompt : you know how in link's awakening you wake up on an island that turned out to be the dream of the wind fish

That made me think that every character on Koholint was created and written by the dream god

It chose for Marin to fall in love with link

It chose to let her know that it was a dream

It chose to let the monster be somewhat aware of the dream

It chose for link to traverse the island and have to collect the instruments

It chose for link to see an appearance of it called the wind fish

It chose to make koholint disappear

It had full control

Every thought every single decision made by all characters

The god is the writer of the story

But if Marin appears in the war of eras how can it be

Because the god chose for her to appear and help win the war

It chose the stakes it chose the characters to appear

It already had chosen who lives and who dies in the war

It chose for link to realize that everyone around him was a dream

It chose to torture him with the knowledge that everyone is gone

It chose to keep sending link on adventure since he was created by the god

Every pain every injury

It chose for link to feel it to see the loss to feel the pain

It knew how he felt about it

They watched him suffer from it

He was as real as Marin

A tool for the narrative

The goddess knew his pain and even worse his very realization that he knew the goddess knew

The goddess decided for him

The goddess controls every thought , every decision

Every loss and every pain

Him knowing means she decided to let him know she knows all his feelings

For she can make him forget just as fast

She wanted him to know that the island koholint was gone because of him waking the wind fish

She chose all his adventures all his decisions

Even his questions for her

Even his hatred for her

His hatred for hylia was decided BY hylia

Every foe he fought was decided and scripted by hylia

Because he was as real as a dream

Even as eight other links appeared it was on her decision

And he realized in the moment she allowed him to realize

That she decided he wouldn’t know

She controlled legend just as much as she controlled the sun

She controlled dusk and echo as much as she controlled his life

She controlled her blood's destiny

She controlled everything related to him

Because Koholint wasn’t real

And he wasn’t either

Not since koholint or prior

Or legend realizing that he isn’t fucking real and then realized that the knowledge that he wasn’t real was decided by the goddess

And that hylia knows his pain personally because she creates it for him and the very knowledge was given to him by hylia for drama

And he really doesn’t want to be her favorite but also if he is boring she would lose interest in him and then he would cease to exist

Hylia a writer for real and her OC is Zelda

And her favorite is Legend

Because legend is a concept she gave life

Legend is a doll of her making

And also because torturing your favorite pet since they became a concept

Killing all off its kind then bringing one back to fight in a war then shove it back in a drawer

Making the little doll think that it was responsible for it

And then forcing it to interact with other people who have free will is hilarious

Even funnier if you make it think that all your other OCs have free will and let them be unaware of your influence

(We really should rescue her pet bunny and her other critters from her she is a horrible person… she a writer fr …girl leave the Zelda's alone they want agency or does she just not make them want agency and fix the problem while legend is having a mental breakdown she forced him to have)

The chain must feel so horrified by the reality of all their Zeldas being Hylia's dolls and lacking agency

Echoes of Wisdom Headcanon Countdown

༺ Day 24▪︎ 77 Left

Zelda maintains scars from her time as Puppet Zelda, but they only appear when she is near a source of "dark magic" or at the hours of twilight. She did not initially remember the event but began to recall it in dreams or in visions sparked by flashing lights. It is a cruel reminder of the sacrifices Zelda made to save Hyrule and Midna - but she would never change a thing. When her spirit was with Midna, it was only proven to her that the Twilight Princess was worth saving just as any of her subjects.

Where I have light magic that can overwhelmed a person's personality like dark magic, so in my case a softie Wars.

And then Chimera Hyrule which I'm debating on changing the design slightly, so he can be taller and more Gleeok because the dragons in Botw/totk have a little too much arms for me to draw constantly

Some random details I found in Twilight Princess (Wii), Snowpeak Mansion Edition

Here's one for Castle Town too :)

the entire mansion is plastered full with this emblem:

Which also shows up in Zeldas room in the castle in HD and I swear I also saw in the final dungeon part of the castle, implying with Ashei's backstory that it would mark the knights of the land. However, interestingly, it doesn't sport a triforce that'd usually mark things as being connected to the royal family.

the vast majority of armor sets you can find here are distinctly not human sized. Way too big, legs too short for the rest of the body, only 3 fingers. Gorons, Lizalfos, Yeti? Incredibly beefed up Zora?? Who knows.

the corners of the giant metal blocks you use for block puzzles made a snowflake. Cute. They also have holes/handles on top, so they might be containers.

hearts don't drop. The only way to heal yourself is via soup. Implies healing magic is cold sensitive...?

the furniture is breakable =)

F1

Entrance Room

Yeto was working on repairing the stairs when Yeta fell ill (links looks so tiny lmao)

The entrance room has a giant hole in the roof which reflects upon ice underneath it, but the reflection lacks the wooden beams, meaning that's technically not a reflection but a hole leading straight down the cliffs (realistically they just goofed modeling it but y'know)

the room also has giant paintings of Queen Rutela and a man who lowkey looks like oot's Rauru. Under the stairs you can find discarded paintings of the Temple of Time door, an obscured one that looks to be the Mirror Chamber entrance, and above the stairs there's a small painting of Hyrule Castle

the entrance of the entrance room is the only place rocking pillars with THIS pattern:

which lowkey look like shadow portals. No clue if that's intentional or just 2006-textures-on-a-too-big-screen-crunch, but yeah

Main Room

the main room's got shelves with books on the lower rows while the upper ones are empty, so either the old owners or Yeta like to read

it also has paintings, of Hyrule castle, what looks to be one of its entrances from a bridge?, the obscured one from before in full view (it's 100% the Mirror Chamber) and...Ordon Goats.

between Ashei, Auru, Rusl, and that emblem, this all implies the Resistance might not exactly be a new thing, or at least similar work isn't to its members

there's an old clock on the wall that stopped at exactly 9:40(?) It only has 8 points, which is 100% just an aesthetic choice but indirectly implies Hyrule Clocks go with 8-16-24 instead of our 12-24

Kitchen

the kitchen area's "table" in the corner is actually a very broken bedframe. Meanwhile the real table still has the fish you gave him on it. There's crates with carrots, potatoes, and onions, plus hanging garlic cloves.

The fireplace got pipes for leading smoke outside, meanwhile the giant stone pot's underneath a modern vent. Like just full on, Five Nights at Freddy's style metal square crawlable vent. Also there's a second giant stone pot thrown into a corner.

Left Armory

room directly to the left of the big round one, full of mainly one handed swords, but also spears, 1 + 2 -handed axes, as well as round + uh, shield-shaped shields. It ALSO has armor. Both the giant one you see everywhere, AND regular human sized armor behind it.

Left corner room

very big and very empty except for banners with the emblem and a few minitables + chairs at the walls. Except they're all placed neatly, so this probably wasn't Yeto but intentional.

South of Left Corner Room

The south connecting room also has that chair - table-table-chair combo at a wall, plus the Time Door and Mirror Chamber paintings. You can also look inside the Left Room through fenced windows, so they were probably a hall and gathering room for whoever those weapons were for?

the torches have giant wooden logs as candles lmao

Courtyard

Canons and canonballs, probably to practice using them more than anything. still, if that wasn't proof this was a fortress idk what else is

Right Armory

right corner room and Main Armory, both weapons and armor. And a canon. Right most corner even got a decayed poster with a canon drawing, and you can even read some of it! "(it just tells you to put balls then bombs into canons to shoot them)

the super decayed room underneath it, got nothing interesting except that its super decayed and barely hangs on via some stilts above a bottomless pit

bottom right spiral stairs

aren't actually stairs! It goes up smoothly, to carry canons up. The wheel on each side of the canon is probably for that. They need 2 to carry forward (1 person just rotates them like Link does)

F2

There's a canon on top. Y'know those square brick formations on top of fortress walls, where artillery fires from? The canon's in front of a ring of those, they're just frozen shut. Left room's also got this same artillery-tower-half-circle extrusion on the other side.

Given that nothing is on the sides of the mansion, they're most likely there to fend off any flying enemies coming from the mountains

Courtyard (upper balcony parts)

F1's got the middle coutyard and 2 halls on the side. F2 should also be like that, except the walls are broken on both sides, allowing Link to just walk across them.

just like F1, F2 also has a canon in the center. You can point it riiiiight at the walls. Or just leave it where, where it then points at a giant hole in a different wall. Man, I wonder what happened to those.

the vent from the kitchen in F1 continues to the left side of the south wall, and you can see steam from the soup come out of it!

Middle Left room

floor's brokwn in the middle leaving a giant hole, much like other rooms, except this one's sureounded by (human sited) guard rails. Implies the decay of this mansion/fortress might've happened or at least started before its abandonement.

Temple Room

Too Right Corner and straight up just a church-aesthetic temple room, except where the pastor would usually have his pult you instead get a door to another room. This is where you get the stairs up to a stage. Still lacks a pult or anything, any cleric who'd stand here would just, stand here.

Like imagine a church but the cleric side is in its own room and also there's no pult, they just stand there

combined with both the oot and tp Temple of Time layouts also rocking this specific style, this might just be how any temple to the Golden Three look like in these eras

the "cleric room" has lit candles, not wooden logs but the actual, original candles. They're the only lit torches of this floor. (Are they magical? Did they get blessed by Din or something? I mean they are red, as is most decorations here, plus fire would be pretty great in this cold >v<)

Also the banks are gigantic, as in taller than Link. I know Nintendo claims this Link's like 1.40m, but everything else fits his ingame more like ~1.70m size, and even if he somehow really were the size of an actual 10 year old, they'd still be too big. Nah these banks are made for whoever is wearing that giant armor.

F3

Boss room (and the only room)

the door is the only one in this mansion that doesn't have a handle to open them. Instead, it goes up via mechanism, and then closes automatically locking you in every time (even after defeating the boss, which is horrible interior design but can be headcanoned as faulty old mechanisms)

The empty handle that was holding the mirror shard can still be seen on the wall

the reason the area froze over during the bossfight is because her scream in the intro broke all the windows, allowing her to blizzard the room

got nothing interesting going on (that wasn't already mentioned)! :D

Writers, we all have that one moment from our story we really want to write but before this happens, almost a whole volume needs to be written.

In Hyrule Park, such a moment is the battle between supercharged Kevin and Puppet Zelda. There actually will be two of them and both of the battles started because Kevin wanted to stop this imposter form corrupting Link.

Opinions from the Crowd?

Give justification/propaganda for your preference if you want, I can't make up my mind about how exactly Rinkū's rampage over Sonia's assassination (TotK) took place.

A) Rinkū had somehow pack/loyalty bonded to her (not mate-bond because he's got a mate and he knows Sonia is Rauru's) and her demise triggered a vigilante reaction in him (he was at/near the site where Ganondorf killed her). This instinct is what the breeding program of the Divine Beast era aimed to exploit, and is why the belief is that Wolfbred's only purpose in life is to serve the Queen to the death.

B) Rinkū had somehow pack/loyalty bonded to her (not mate-bond because he's got a mate and he knows Sonia is Rauru's) and her demise triggered a rescue reaction in him (he was not at/near the site where Ganondorf killed her, and somehow was lead to believe she was merely kidnapped) This instinct is what the breeding program of the Divine Beast era aimed to exploit, and was morphed into a "follow the Queen's orders at all cost" instinct in them that created the belief that Wolfbred's only purpose in life is to serve the Queen to the death.

C) Rinkū was not pack-bonded in any way to Sonia or Rauru (he was only bonded to his mate and pups). However, while trying to protect Rauru and Zelda from Ganondorf, bit (or otherwise came into contact with) either Ganondorf or Puppet Zelda and was infected with Gloom. Because Rinkū's pups were not infected with Gloom, they didn't express the violent warhound behaviors that Rinkū did during his rampage, which meant the breeding program artificially added that trait in when they modified the Wolfbred in an attempt to recreate that "perfect" loyalty to the Queen that Rinkū appeared to display.

Mentally rambled to myself yesterday about Hylia lore and how I find it fitting that the latest games should show how revered she is in Hyrule and how the land and people should be named after her as she was their sole beacon of hope as opposed to the creator goddesses who abandoned their people and instead created a servant for the sole purpose of maintaining the peace when they couldn't be bothered.... Left a sacred power that could grant any wish and went "nope, not my problem, it's YOUR job now".... didn't write any of it down. Hoping I remember most of it later today. My girl WILL be free

During the Puppet Zelda fight of Twilight Princess, Zelda's consciousness was in a sort of "sleeping" state and was split between both Ganondorf and Midna. There were likely times in which she instinctively tried to control her body to stop Ganondorf, but found she couldn't - like something out of a nightmare. Perhaps a similar strange sensation occurred with Zelda in Spirit Tracks, as her ghost almost felt drawn to her possessed body even as Malladus prevented her from entering it. Any time she feels dizzy after the fact seems to remind her of it...

// TOTK's story might have a ton of holes in it, but GOD, the cutscenes draw me in so deeply. It goes from one chilling moment to the next. If there are two things Nintendo is gonna get right EVERY single time, it's the music, and the tone setting for impactful scenes.
