Brutalist Gargoyle - TALL PUPPY

Well, after loving the first one I made, I just had to make another one! This is the second in what I plan to be a trio of Brutalist Gargoyles! I said last time that I would try to make this one more fierce, and well... I don't think I succeeded, lmaooo. This one is just a cutie puppers! Halloween Film Frightstival Day 3: John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982)

Initial thoughts:

1. Holy 80’s computer animation Batman

2. The pupper already has my heart and soul, is just a happy little snow dog running in the snow, can do no wrong (for the record I maintain that Cujo did nothing wrong as well)

3. Oops I forgot that I think Kurt Russell in the 80s was kinda hot

4. The chef guy on the roller skates is gonna die (maybe first), calling it now

5. I know it’s supposed to be scary, but the concept of bloodcicles is strangely amusing to me

I know the costume department can’t cover the lead actors faces but these men are seriously underdressed for Antarctica, where’s that meme of that Irish kid talking about frostbit when you need it?

80’s movie? Flamethrower. Always with the flamethrower.

This is on par with The Fly for proof that 80s practical effects are a million times grosser than modern CGI stuff

Old white doctor man with a nose ring is a vibe and a half

Oh my god the defibrillator going straight through the guy’s chest and the ribs just munching the doctor’s hands off was probably supposed to be scary a la the chest scene in Alien, but I was legitimately cackling

The guy sticking his fingers through the other guy’s face was actually a really cool effect, it reminded me of Cassandra Nova fingering everybody’s brains in Deadpool and Wolverine, except with special effects makeup instead of CGI

Okay I totally didn’t get bored and zone out in the middle part of the movie (except I did because it was just a lot of dudes grumbling at and blaming each other, there were no stakes, I could hardly keep the characters straight and didn’t care about any of them)

I also lowkey zoned out during the very end because I didn’t realize it was the end, I hate when movies just end abruptly like that. So I don’t actually know if my prediction about roller skate guy dying was right oh well

The action was very actiony, over the top and at times overacted. The effects are really good, but the gore was way too cheesy to actually be scary. I mean come on there were like 30 seconds straight of a very obvious mannequin being eaten head first by a creature while flailing about and fake blood spraying everywhere, that’s so silly. I think the creature stuff could’ve been really scary if I couldn’t visually see the texture of whatever clay material they crafted them out of, it was really impressive as art, not so much as something designed to give me the heebie-jeebies.

It wasn’t bad per se but it wasn’t good either. The special effects and prop stuff were really good, but the plot, writing, characters, acting, etc were extremely mid. It’s gonna be a meh from me dawg 🫤

Nightmare Before Christmas (Chapter 1)

During Alice's second year, and the week before her trip to Fleur City.

Sebek is less intense with his love for Malleus and more respectful towards others.

"Damn..."

"... Are you talking about the actual freshmen, or Ace and Deuce?"

(Riddle 😆 he got pouty at the chance Floyd may appear, then got happy to know he's safe from the eel)

Malleus: "but this year, I will be celebrating it in Fleur City instead."

"What was that?"

"I can barely see our group."

(I just image Grim running over and clinging to Leona's leg like an excited child)

Crouches down to look at the book and reaches for it to get a better look when Malleus says to not open it and pulls her hand back.

Goes to take the book from Grim, but he dodges her hand and opens the book. Tries to close it, doesn't work.

What happened...?

Who's talking...?

Open my eyes...

Blinks her eyes and looks up at the owner of the voice, head pulling back slightly in confusion.

"Uh, a bit dizzy." He helps her stand up and she thanks him, then takes in the surroundings. A forest?

Notices the bodies and he asks if she knows them. "Yes, they're my friends."

"My, you all look so dapper." Feels a sense of familiarity from the clothing style.

Leona: "Why don't you take a look at yourself first."

Looks down and discovers she's wearing a patchwork suit. Picks up the skirt and spins around.

Leona sighs.

"... You look nicely dressed."

"Hold on, we were sucked into a storybook, why are you going guns-a-blazing at the first person you see?"

"Guys, we were in a public area, anyone could have be sucked in."

"Hello, I'm Kate." (Introduces herself just to spite them)

Looks unimpressed.

"You guys are pathetic."

"My, what a gentleman."

Really?

Okay, edge lord.

Knows exactly what the doors are and questions the possibility when Halloween door is opened.

Grim grabs her arm and makes her lose balance. Sebek panics and grabs her waist, but trips over the skull and grabs Leona's shirt as a fail attempt to not plummet.

Vil: "*sighs* We have to follow after them for Kate's sake, don't we?"

"And why did you grab me as well, Grim?"

Sebek asks and checks if Alice is injured. "I'm fine, Sebek. Just startled."

Has a chance to look around. Yeah, we're in Nightmare Before Christmas.

Holy crap, he tall. ... Damn this feels weird.

Curtsies. "Hello, Your Majesty." Jack bows to the lady.

"*gasp* Pupper."

Raises hand. "Technically, I know about the pumpkin king."

Skully, excited: "You do? Aw, I finally meet a cultured person like myself."

Jamil: "Kate, where did you learn about him?"

"... I'm not going to tell you for the mystery."

"Duh, we're in a storybook, of course we're not in Twisted Wonderland and Jack wouldn't know about it."

"Idia, as a isekaied person, that's not how it works."

Riddle: "There's a masquerade I must attend."

"I faintly see something over there."

"Guys, let's just go to the town." Walks towards Jack and Skully's direction. "Grimmy! Run to me!"

Carries the frightened cat.

Looks around in awe with Skully.

What about the basement? She's now concerned.

"No it does not. My dorm has be repaired, you can't say that anymore."

Shakes Sally's hand and introduces herself.

"Hmm, I don't know if I have any good ideas." ["You're planning on helping him?"] "Yeah."

It's so strange to see them alive, and not clay figures anymore.

RIVETING tale of what just occurred on my new circus island (i had to restart bc y'all, i loaded into the old island and remembered that i had actually already tried flattening and it got so overwhelming bc of the sheer volume of Stuff and Terraforming that i quit and never picked it back up lol)

i have my list of circus villagers i want (pietro, muffy, marcel, stitches, kabuki, astrid, phoebe, rio, tiansheng, and margie) and i was right now using saved tickets to villager hunt for the normal, peppy, and lazy villagers. so stitches, marcel, margie, and rio.

i realized oh i have rio's amiibo, i can grab any peppy, give myself a better chance at getting the others. i get so many repeats that i give up on margie and just snag daisy.

i'm looking for lazies now, and i'm like. i'm at almost 150 tickets this is absurd, i'll give up. i gave it the final 3 and then quit. i was gonna autofill.

i'm making the furniture for the plots to let the last one autofill and i realize i don't have enough clay, so i have to use another ticket.
