c!Purpled's Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day part 2 (wherein he loses c!Punz a second time)
So after a month and a half of trying to corner Purpled to talk to him, c!Sapnap finally gets some results. Purpled approaches him of his own volition, even, and asks if they can talk.
Of course they can talk. Not here, though. Not is Los Nevadas where they're constantly being watched even when they feel alone. Sapnap loves c!Quackity, but he's also overheard one of the times when c!Slimecicle was reporting to him about Karl. And they've just had a fight recently. So Sapnap doesn't really want to risk the one chance he has to finally get something right for once.
Purpled seems surprised that Sapnap doesn't want to have their conversation in Los Nevadas, and even a little... pleased? Maybe Sapnap's wrong--Purpled is hard to read and also a bit mercurial in the way all teenagers tend to be. He says that he knows a place, and asks Sapnap to meet him on the edge of Los Nevadas in about 20 minutes.
Okay, go time. Sapnap switches Punz's core crystal from his enderchest into his hotbar, and heads out to find Purpled's meeting spot. From there, Purpled directs them both out into the desert a ways.
They stop at a small platform made of sand. There's a one-block wall of three terracotta blocks in a row, and a single block of sand in the center that Purpled breaks to reveal a trap door. A secret base? But the platform and the wall, the way it's built up away from the rest of Las Nevadas artificial desert--it reminds Sapnap of a stage.
But they're alone here; the walk would have revealed Slime if he was following them. So it's safe to talk, even if they aren't in whatever Purpled's secret base is, just yet.
Sapnap climbs onto the platform and approaches Purpled. He's got his back facing to Sapnap, and seems to be fiddling with some mechanism attached to the trap door. "So, about Punz...."
And that's when Purpled whips around and tosses two splash potions right into Sapnap. Sapnap stumbles back, feels the way the heavy press of Weakness drags his body out of position, the stagger from bones grown too-heavy winds him and chokes off the rest of his sentence. Attempting to correct feels like wading through honey, Slow and sticky and resistant.
"Of course you know all about Punz," Purpled hisses, and goes at Sapnap with a sword. Sapnap only barely manages to swap his own sword out of inventory to try and counter. "Come to gloat?"
Oh, he thinks that I'm going to blackmail him with Punz's core crystal.
"Wait! I came to--" but Purpled is pushing Sapnap too hard; the weakness potion combined with Purpled's own skill cutting off all attempts at conversation. Purpled is controlling the flow of battle. He swings out around Sapanp, forcing him to pivot, and then begins to force Sapnap back towards the trap door. An actual trap then, and not a secret base.
But even though Purpled could be doing a lot of damage, he's not. Sapnap is Slow and Weak and he's not even wearing armor. Purpled has a Netherite sword (it's Punz's sword, the one Sapnap watched him painstakingly remake after Doomsday. The one that Punz didn't drop, when he returned to his core crystal) and he's a good fighter (he fights like Punz did). Sapnap isn't dead because Purpled doesn't want him dead. He's barely even burned, because Purpled clearly has a tight control of the Flame Aspect II enchantment, enough to leave scorching lines without outright setting Sapnap on fire.
So Sapnap takes a chance.
"Wait!" Sapnap staggers back from the next sword blow without even trying to dodge or block. His sword is out of his hands as he switches hotbar inventory slots. An indigo core crystal replaces it.
Purpled's expression goes from anger to pure, boiling fury in an instant. "Drop him. Drop him right now!" Purpled lunges. He hasn't put his sword away yet, and it's leading point-first, tip headed straight towards Sapnap's heart.
Sapnap takes another step back, feels the footing change from sand to the wood of the trap door. Hears the pop of lava underneath, and the soft "click" as something gives. One moment he's fine, and the next he's off balance, empty air where solid footing had been. Sapnap drops the core crystal. Worried that it might fall into the lava, too, he fumbles to catch it.
There's a hand in his, and then Punz is hauling Sapnap back onto the sand. He looks almost the same, except he's missing his usual hoodie. The aether lines flicker down his arms, bright and pulsing.
Purpled screams wordless grief.
"Sapnap!" Quackity is there, with a crossbow and Slimecicle and then Punz is moving.
~
Purpled is not having a good day. At first, it seems like his plan is working fine. But it turns out the reason Sapnap wants to talk to him is about Punz, Punz who is lost who-knows-where out in the wilderness of the server, Punz who is probably already in the Eggpire's hands, and Purpled feels his whole mood sour.
It doesn't help that Sapnap is clearly trying to talk him out of this. Wait? Sapnap's not his friend. And he's done enough waiting--Quackity will get what's coming to him and when he does, Purpled might consider the debt books to be balanced.
Not likely. After all, in addition to getting Purpled killed and getting Punz lost, Quackity never bothered to pay Purpled's mission fee and isn't paying enough now, for Purpled's presence in Los Nevadas. If Purpled wasn't here for revenge, he'd have left long ago.
And then it's Punz's core crystal in Sapnap's hands, like Sapnap if fucking taunting him, and Sapnap didn't fucking listen and the fucking trapdoor gives way and--
And Punz is there. But Purpled doesn't feel any different.
Quackity's caught up to them, a bit ahead of schedule, with his pet Blade at his heels, as if Blades weren't their own fucking people. And Purpled may have started this while the sun was blazing hot with not a cloud in the sky (can't do damage as a lightning Blade if there's no storm to Channel, can you?), but Quackity has a crossbow and his aim isn't actually terrible.
There's an arm around Purpled's shoulders, and Purpled leans into the motion into the touch and grab and move the way he's done since he was small, and this little trick ended with him balanced on Punz's hip instead of deposited gently behind him as he cut the arrow out of the air.
"That's enough," says Punz, as if he didn't just perform one of the moves he's been using to protect Purpled just the same as he did a decade ago.
But Punz stopped being Purpled's Blade the moment he died. Purpled is still cold, a yawning absence in his heart.
"No one is fighting anyone," Punz says, in the tone that sounds reasonable but means he's angry and about a step back and to the side from resorting to magic to end the conversation.
The conversation that Purpled missed. Is missing. Its unprofessional, and Punz is going to scold him the second they're alone again.
He won't. Because "alone" is no longer Purpled-and-Punz. He's just Purpled, and Punz is out of his reach.
Purpled has played Bedwars enough that the towering is instinctual. He knows how to speed bridge, but the ender pearls in his inventory are a much safer alternative. After all, Purpled knows better than anyone exactly how dangerous Punz is, how quick to react and the lengths of his range.
The harming potion in his hotbar is almost an accusation. But they're brewed for Players, not Blades. Just one won't be enough to beat a Blade's regen. And even if he tossed it at Sapnap, new Blades are protective.
Punz would block it, and go down screaming (did he scream, when the Resonance snapped? The way Purpled did, before the UFO went to pieces around him, and him with it?) and come back mad enough to shred his enemy (what would that protectiveness look like, on the other side of Punz's gaze? Purpled can only imagine it as he always sees it, staring at the way Punz's shoulders set into a positional that heralds lethal anticipation).
So this time it failed. So what. It was fine. Purpled would just need to think of a different plan.

Sapnap’s Crew:
- Quackity. Most in danger from Dream. Sapnap isn’t sure if he believes the “tortured” tidbit, but he’s starting to think that it’s the most likely explanation. Especially since Dream — post-attempt-1 — is pretty obviously out for the man’s blood.
- Karl. Sapnap’s fiancé. Things between him and Quackity are tense: Karl’s memories came back, but he still FORGOT Quackity. They’re still broken up. And Sapnap’s not sure if he wants to take Quackity back himself: again, the torture.
- Bad. Gets on board later, after he’s privately tipped off that their new goal is to force-feed Dream some TLC. (This is done when Sapnap comes to him for help with setting a trap: a proposal he initially refuses.) He still feels guilty about his lack of action as a guard: he wants to do what he can to help stop the man from ripping himself to shreds.
- Foolish. He joins much later, following a few very odd conversations where Dream is quite obviously falling apart. He doesn’t know Dream, but Bad is his friend and he knows that Dream means something to him.
- Punz. Double agent at first. Then Sapnap’s motives take a turn and the server starts healing and he starts to rethink the plan in general. It’s thanks to him double-crossing Dream that they finally manage to catch him, in the end.
ok i absolutely adore the choice of characters here. because literally none of them get along canonically which fits your idea of the manhunt initiation being pretty slow (more time for dream to scamper in the woods)
canonical dramas that would have to be resolved (below);
🦙🦙🦙…
quackity: is hurt that sapnap and karl created a nation without him. is hurt that karl couldn’t remember him and claimed that he tried to murder him. is foolish’s boss. is against bad’s eggpire. punz and dream just literally tried to turn slime against him and kill him
karl: sapnap’s fiancé. he’s no longer suffering from memory loss, but he has in fact lost his fiancé due to accusing him of murdering him. gets along with foolish (built hype train together). always takes punz things lmao
bad: sapnap’s canonical father lmao. has had run ins with quackity in the past. dream’s prison guard, but a sympathiser. pranks foolish regularly. also punz’s father (?i think?)
foolish: knows that sapnap has the death book. literally has a wall with plans to kill both dream and sapnap. has decided that he could be too good for quackity and that he doesn’t really need him. is pranked by bad regularly. gets along with karl
punz: gets his stuff stolen a lot. bad’s son. sap’s brother. literally just tried to kill quackity. knows about the torture. his placement in this AU is awesome for a couple of reasons; (1) dream taking to the woods implies that punz and dream got separated after the slime war (unless dream actually made it back to prison), (2) punz is probably rather worried about dream by the time sap knocks on his door, (3) he has to pretend that he doesn’t know about the torture (awesome stand-still between quack and punz, coz neither of them would want to mention each others previous relationship with dream coz it would out themselves to sap), (4) quackity would know that punz is lying

Hey guys, eh little ramble about C!Dream.
I sometimes see takes that are rather sympathetic to his character, suggesting that even if some of his actions were reprehensible, his descent was partly due to others failing to reach out and help him. That he has his own reasons and people painting him as the villain essentially forced him into the role. Dream’s suffered too.
And yeah, you can look into these ideas as an effort to get a better understanding of Dream’s motivations but it’s very easy to fall into excusing Dream’s actions too much or blaming others too much for Dream’s actions.
It’s a tricky thing, but for any action, there’s gonna be some level of personal responsibility assuming you have at least that much power/agency. (There are cases where a character does not have that much power over their own actions. I would argue that Badboyhalo is being heavily influenced by the egg. And there are other times when a character is basically being forced to do something against their will. I don’t believe Dream has ever been in such a situation - his actions in prison might count as he’s absolutely trapped in there with no options. Regardless, this post is only about his actions prior to his prison sentence.)
Dream is responsible for his own actions.
-No one pressured him to build obsidian walls around L’Manburg to trap the citizens in forever if they did not do as he demanded.  -No one compelled him to destroy Tommy’s armour every day.  -Or to convince him that L’Manburg was better off without him and to deliberately sabotage his party to make him believe no one cared about him while knowing Tommy was already feeling terrible and contemplating suicide. -Nothing forced him to destroy L’Manberg. -No one made him decide to kill Tubbo and lock Tommy in prison forever. These actions aren’t mistakes made under pressure, these are premeditated plans.
Now, one might argue that Tommy provoked Dream, that he had an irrational hatred for Dream long before Dream actually did anything terrible to him. Dream only became a villain because Tommy and Wilbur villainised him first. Again, this is removing Dream’s own responsibility from his shoulders too much for me.
For comparison, Quackity tried pressuring Tubbo into executing Ranboo post the festival because he was a traitor. He even said he’d leave L’Manburg if Tubbo didn’t. Tubbo ultimately refused though! Quackity may have been pressuring him, but Tubbo had agency and if he’d actually gone through with it, it would have been as much his own fault.
Besides this, it also suggests that Tommy and Wilbur were way worse to Dream than canon really depicts? I would argue that Dream did far, far more to provoke Tommy than Tommy did Dream. Dream for instance, griefed a bunch of places and blamed it on Tommy when Tommy hadn’t even been doing anything. To suggest Tommy viewed Dream as an evil villain prior to his exile is also untrue. Post Nov 16th, after Dream had already betrayed Tommy to join Schlatt (plus also having helped Wilbur gather TNT), the two of them sat on the bench together and listened to Blocks while watching the sunset. Tommy didn’t even care that Dream blew up his house. A week later, Dream and Tommy were friendly when they streamed with Lani. Tommy viewed Dream as a friendly rival at this point, and had for some time (the day before the Nov16th war, Dream had helped Tommy when he was in conflict with Sapnap after he’d killed Tommy’s horse. Also after Dream had announced he’d be fighting against Tommy in the Pogtopia war.)
As for friends abandoning him, this again suggests people were way colder to Dream than canon depicts. George was supportive of Dream when he was exiling Tommy. While he didn’t see such an extreme response as necessary, he definitely let Dream do what he did on his behalf. Punz was loyal to Dream right up until the disc finale. Sam built the prison on Dream’s request and remained at least neutral to Dream until the disc finale.
Sapnap’s an interesting one, he was hurt when Dream declared the only thing he cared about was Tommy’s discs and took offense to Dream’s dethroning George rather arbitrarily and fought on George’s behalf against this. That said, Sapnap was doing this still in the position as Dream’s friend. A good friend doesn’t merely enable them - it’s good when Sapnap condemns Dream’s worse behaviours. He SHOULD be angry when Dream says he cares about nothing but Tommy’s discs and look for an explanation.
On Tommy’s first full day of exile, Sapnap joins Dream in essentially bullying Tommy, enough so that Tommy actually challenges Sapnap on this. At the festival, Sapnap actually declines joining Tommy, stating that Dream is his friend and he’s not going against him. The next day, Dream never bothers to talk to Sapnap, while Tommy goes out of his way to apologise to him and invites him to be his friend. Only then does Sapnap give up on Dream. I believe if Dream had reached out, he would have had Sapnap’s loyalty. But he did not.
Perhaps they could have done more for Dream, but it’s very hard to help someone who is burning bridges. Dream was elusive, he let his friendship die as he came to believe that attachment was a weakness. It’s a tragedy, yes, but Dream is also responsible for the breaking down of his friendships.
Dream was not forced to be a villain, to be abusive. He had friends, he had power. Like every character, he had a choice. And he chose poorly.

You've probably talked about this kinda thing before (I'm willing to hunt down the post if so), but I'm pretty new to your blog and I'm curious; what makes you like c!Dream so much? Other than, like, his potential - or the skill that went into writing him - I mean specifically as a character, what causes you to sympathize with him as opposed to others like Wilbur or Quackity?
If it's personal you obviously don't have to answer! I've just read tons of posts like that from c!Tommy apologists and I realized I'd never read one from the other side of things (so to speak) and I think you present your ideas and stuff rly well :p
Alright, I’ve made a couple of replies like this, but this one is going in the masterpost to later link it to people - thank you for your interest, and I hope you don’t mind this one being a bit detailed.
Initially, on more of an emotional level, the answer to that question would be Dr3. It was how I got into Dream apologism, it justified my compassion for the character, and made me feel more comfortable where the rest of the fandom was overwhelmingly negative.
The c!Dream that people portray seems unsympathetic, and pretty fitting on the surface - a relentless manipulative villain with an insatiate thirst for power who threw away his friends in order to gain control over others for the sake of being on top.
Until you actually look into canon, and do some analysis, and realize that's,,, rather far from the truth.
See, the thing about c!Dream is, that he's a person much like anyone else in the story. He's not a "villain" or some morally black character only because of his actions. It's all about context, which doesn't excuse actions, but it might explain them and make an impact on the way we view the character himself.
In this fandom, people usually look at him, and then throw both accurate characterization and any of that context out the window.
Because power, and hurting people, and chaos isn't his goal or his motive. It's a means to an end. Everything is a means to the end to this character, including himself, which I find fascinating.
Is it wrong to do? Yes. Will it get him closer to his goals? Yes? Then he's going to do it, no matter who gets hurt in the process. No matter if he gets hurt in the process.
And this ruthlessness is not inspired by cruelty, this efficiency isn't out of enjoyment. It's out of genuine attachment and perhaps even desperation, but that's difficult to get into.
He's had such a downward spiral into doing continuously worse things - and for what? For control? For power? No, he never cared about that in the first place, why would he start now?
Do you know what he did care about?
His friends. The server. The people he feels responsible for.
c!Dream's goals have never been selfish at all, no matter how much people try to paint it that way. His ends were always for others - considering how likely the theory that he got himself locked up on purpose is, that enforces the sentiment even more.
If he didn't care about the server, why would he fight against L'Manberg and then list his reasons for it always as reasons "we" had? He pretty much never used "I" when talking about it, I know because I counted it.
If he didn't care about the people, why would he stand against Schlatt - despite understandably still despising L'Manberg - and actively support them in getting their country back when he could've just left them alone? Schlatt wasn't hurting him. Wilbur taking a tiny piece of land wasn't threatening him.
Manberg was threatening the server's peace, which is why he fought against it. L'Manberg threatened (and ruined) the server's relative peace and unity, which is why he fought against it.
It was never him fighting to control the server, it was him fighting for the server and the people in it, even if he ended up hurting them in the process, and that's pretty clear from analysing his motives before the second season.
And yeah, his thinking is flawed, I noticed - but cc!Dream has confirmed his goal in the end is for everyone to get along and, well, stop hurting each other, as well as him having an "ends justify the means" mentality.
And I guess that silent realization of - hell, he cares - was what drew me to have such a strong attachment towards the character.
So thinking about him forcing himself to do all this terrible stuff - about him being stuck powerless inside a cell, hurt over and over again - about just how desperate he must've been, alternatively, how ready to sacrifice himself he must've been back at the Finale.
If you recontextualize the story from c!Dream's perspective, it all falls into this picture of someone who wanted to protect people more than anything, and who cared more than anyone, and ended up losing everything, not entirely by his own fault, but because of the cycle of violence he was actively trying to stop.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Dream is incredibly selfless both in his overarching goals, and in his smaller more immediate ones. He will, more often than not, put himself in a disadvantageous situation if it means his friends or allies aren’t caught in the crossfire or harmed.
His relationship with his friends - Punz, George and Sapnap specifically - is incredibly tragic. He wanted to protect Punz, he showed genuine concern about him, he was willing to have one less person on his side just so that people wouldn't target him.
He wanted to protect George, but he hurt him in the process, because he was too caught up in being in the right, and Sapnap was distraught thanks to Tommy telling him that Dream doesn't care about him, and Quackity who despised Dream was there to fan the flames, so they fell apart rather easily.
He wanted to protect the cat, and he failed.
He wanted to protect Techno, stand up to Quackity, and he failed.
If you think about it, he failed to protect everyone miserably.
Alright before I break down sobbing incoherently - as you can probably see, my sympathy towards c!Dream doesn't come from him being a good person to any degree, more from just incredible amounts of sadness.
You see, c!Dream is a very reserved character, and he puts up the "cruel scary villain" front on purpose, and he doesn't talk about his emotions on purpose. However what we see of him is pretty much enough to classify him as a rather tragic character.
Most of his actions, with enough context, shift the way I think about the character in a more positive direction only because if I like the way a character is written, it's going to bleed into my feelings for the character himself. Ruthless villains are my jam. A character being fun to analyse and too complex to complicate further is pretty much the only thing I need to become attached.
Did I mention the prison arc yet? I cannot see a character suffering and not be sympathetic, I don't think that's a thing with me. Healing arc potential, isn't it?
A lot of people also relate to the character on a deeply personal level! Trauma responses such as cutting people off and emotionally isolating yourself, trying to regain control of your environment or to get back the past, some people even relate to,, what's being done to him during the prison arc. There's definitely some amount of projection going on, but I'd say I only do it to a degree where when I'm depressed I'll start relentlessly posting about a healing arc.
It's just hard to see a villain with good intentions hurt and alone, even if he's done terrible things, and not feel some amount of empathy. Most people don't care to see him that way, but my blog's mostly a place for those who do.
Anyways, here are some essays to check out perhaps if you've read this far that elaborate on some of the points further-
[ x ] [ x ] [ x ] [ x ] [ x ] [ x ]
- and here's an explanation like this from a fellow Dream apologist. Might be useful to get multiple perspectives on the subject. Feel free to also send asks if you have any questions! That's what I'm here for.

Every DSMP member’s character race (with short explanations)
Dream: It is unclear if his character is human or a blob-monster. He has referred to himself as “like a God” but is not canonically a proper deity. CC!Dream has said he prefers the human interpretations of his character but also enjoys the eldritch horror/blob depictions.
DreamXD: Supposedly a God. They have been referred to as the “protector God of the lore” and have constant access to creative mode.
George: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!George’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise. Fanon interpretations of C!George as a mushroom sprite or fairy are common (due to his previous aesthetic choices).
Sapnap: While he appears human, there have been multiple implications that his character is some sort of fire related monster hybrid. He has claimed to have been born from lava and that fire can not hurt him because of this. The most common fanon interpretation has lead to depictions of a blaze-hybrid Sapnap, however, magma cubes/ghasts/striders or any creature with fire-themes not included in Minecraft could also work for his character.
Callahan: He could be a human in a costume, or he could be a reindeer hybrid! It’s unclear. When citing other “sheep-like” hybrids on the server, Puffy did not list Callahan, however, her character does not know Callahan very well if at all so this may not be conclusive evidence one way or the other.
Awesamdude: It is heavily implied that he is a creeper hybrid! While CC!Sam has not made much comment one way or the other, multiple characters have been seen wearing creeper heads while doing “Sam impressions”. In one instance Tommy confused an actual creeper for “Sam Nook”, a robot built with a strong resemblance to Sam himself. This implies that C!Sam looks almost identical to normal creepers, however, fanon interpretations have depicted him as varying levels of humanoid.
Sam Nook: Canonically a robot built by C!Awesamdude to assist C!Tommy with the construction of The Big Innit Hotel. Due to Tommy mistaking a real creeper for the robot, we are lead to believe the robot looks very similar, if not identical, to the mob in his design.
Alyssa: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Alyssa’s race. She is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise.
Ponk: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Ponk’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise.
Badboyhalo: He is canonically a demon. CC!Bad has also claimed his character is canonically over 9 feet tall.
Tommy: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Tommy’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise. His familial relationships are unclear and many fanon interpretations depict his character with bird wings (similar to C!Philza) or demonic features (as a jab at his “gremlin” personality).
Tubbo: It is heavily implied that he is part sheep, goat, or ram hybrid. CC!Tubbo hasn’t really acknowledged this one way or the other, however, other characters have made reference to it. Such as C!Puffy naming him in her list of other “sheep-like” hybrids on the server, in which she also mentioned that he has small horns. Fanon interpretations of his character often include horns, ears, and tails resembling that of sheep, goats, rams, and in some cases even cows.
Fundy: It is unclear whether or not C!Fundy is actually a fox or just a normal guy in a fursuit. Multiple characters have made stronger implications towards the former, however, jokes are often made at CC!Fundy’s expense indicating the latter. Most fanon interpretations depict him as a full anthropomorphic fox if not just a humanoid with strong fox features.
Punz: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Punz’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise.
Purpled: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Purpled’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise.
Wilbur: He is supposedly a regular human man and is often depicted as such, however, due to his biological relations to both C!Philza and C!Fundy we know that he likely has strong inhuman genetics. Fanon interpretations will sometimes depict his character with wings (due to his relationship to C!Philza) or as a pig(lin) hybrid (due to comments made by CC!Wilbur implying he is C!Techno’s twin).
Schlatt: It is implied that he is part sheep, goat, or ram hybrid. CC!Schlatt has acknowledged this by previously using a ghost skin that included glowing red ram’s horns. C!Puffy also included him in her list of other “sheep-like” hybrids on the server, in which C!Bad posited that he’s more of a ram than a sheep due to his curled horns.
Skeppy: It is implied that he is some sort of animated diamond creature. Jokes have been made about his character being canonically 2 feet tall, however, CC!Skeppy never canonized that himself. Fanon interpretations often depict his character as a human with partially crystalline features or a sort of sprite (due to the height jokes).
Eret: Their character is mainly humanoid in nature, however, they canonically have glowing white eyes and are a descendant of herobrine. So it is assumed they aren’t actually a human.
Jack Manifold: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Jack’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise.
Niki: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Niki’s race. She is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise.
Quackity: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Quackity’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise. Many fanon interpretations of his character depict him as a duck hybrid (due to CC!Quackity’s brand connection) or as a shapeshifter (referencing CC!Quackity’s frequent comedic in-game skin changes).
Mexican Dream: There have been no deep in-character discussions about Mexican Dream’s race. Originally fans believed MD to have just been C!Quackity due to his role being played by and through CC!Quackity’s account, however, the writers have made it clear that MD is a separate entity entirely. It is unclear if he is a human or a blob-monster, like C!Dream. Many fanon interpretations depict this character as C!Quackity in a C!Dream costume.
Karl Jacobs: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Karl’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise. Some fanon interpretations of his character depict him as a strange colorful lanky monster (referencing his original skin on the server).
HBomb: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!HBomb’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise.
Technoblade: He is canonically either a pig hybrid or a piglin hybrid. Multiple characters have called him a pig or implied that him eating pork would be cannibalism. He has referred to the piglins in the Nether as his “people”, however, CC!Techno has done the same outside of the DSMP. C!Phil has also claimed that C!Techno goes into “hibernation” when CC!Techno is unavailable on the server. Fanon interpretations of his character often depict him as a full pig(lin) hybrid but some depict him as simply a humanoid wearing a boar’s skull. CC!Techno has said he prefers the animal depictions of his character but he is fine with the “anime boy” depictions as well.
Antfrost: It is heavily implied that he is a cat or cat hybrid. Multiple characters have referred to him as a cat and jokes have been made about him either being canonically 9+ feet tall or the size of a regular house cat. Fanon interpretations often depict his character as an anthropomorphic cat if not a humanoid with strong cat features.
Philza: It is canon that C!Phil had fully functional wings at some point but lost them during his first day on the server. It is unclear whether or not he is a bird hybrid or some other entity. He has also claimed to be hundreds of years old, however, he is not immortal or a God. He simply survived for a very long time with his first two lives and is now on his last.
Connor: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Connor’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise.
Puffy: She is canonically a sheep hybrid. Her own character has made reference to this fact multiple times and it has been acknowledged by other characters as well. Fanon interpretations often depict her character as an anthropomorphic sheep if not a humanoid with strong sheep features.
Vikkstar: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Vikk’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise.
LazarBeam: He is supposedly a sentient human-sized gingerbread man. Not many acknowledgments have been made about this fact outside of it being his character’s skin.
Ranboo: He is canonically half-enderman and half something unknown. Both of these facts have been acknowledged by other characters as well as CC!Ranboo himself. While his other half is still not confirmed in canon, CC!Ranboo has commented that he has hinted to it multiple times in character already. Many fanon interpretations depict his character’s other half as a ghast or a dreamon.
Foolish: He is canonically a humanoid totem of undying. It is unclear if the shark attributes on his skin are a onesie/cloak or part of his actual design. It has also been confirmed that his character is a deity of undying (formerly death), the ocean, and the desert. He is the only other confirmed (demi-)god of the server aside from DreamXD. It is unclear why he decided to live among the mortals or if there are other Gods elsewhere that he knows.
Hannah: Her character is mainly humanoid in nature, however, she canonically gets power from roses and has vines of them supposedly growing from her body and hair. It is unclear what her origins are but we are lead to believe that she is not human. Some fanon interpretations depict her character as a fairy or minor-deity of the forest/nature.
Slimecicle: He has made implications of being part slime hybrid. C!Tommy referred to his slime as “gunk on (him)” which implies that his body is mainly humanoid in consistency and color with only bits of actual slime across it. It is also implied that his bones are very malleable, as C!Ranboo hit him and accidentally turned his ankles around.

I've had a few asks regarding my opinions on Quackity's lore and I just want to make a post answering them all instead of going individually so here's my opinion on Quackity's lore.
Has both negatives and positives and is all my opinion. I'm not going to tag as negative as it's mostly preference instead of fault so just know if you're a diehard Quackity lover and don't do criticism please skip.
Honestly I preferred Quackity's first lore stream. I understand that the second was flashbacks and explanations however it just felt off. After thinking about it I decided that what made it off for me is it being incredibly polished. I genuinely feel like very few people can get away with doing prefilmed bits in a lore stream one of which is Quackity however it has to be done well which is what Quackity's first stream did however the whole thing being prerecorded felt a bit too 'showy' for the SMP. Like it took away the essence of the DreamSMP which is cool lore with scuffed moments kept in because it's all live.
In my opinion the only person who I think could get away with lore streams being all prerecorded and polished is Dream for the sole purpose of it being the only perspective not shown before. I do however think that Dream's upcoming lore is going to be mainly flashbacks to fix plot holes and link storylines and characters so I'm excited to compare the two.
Like I said I think the entire stream being prerecorded was solely because of it being flashbacks and hopefully it's back to a mix like the first one was.
For example Fundy had a well thought out lore plan that was incredibly detailed and had similar effects to Quackity's but it still felt like a DreamSMP lore stream because of the scuffed moments.
Yes prerecorded streams mean that you can have camera man Callahan getting things from a different perspective however to me the DreamSMP should all be from the perspective of the person that's streaming. I think that's why I don't like the lore parts of Tales. (And the awkward silent book reading but that's on ADHD)
I feel like the alternative perspective shots should be strictly transition scenes that have no talking. The scenes that show off the surrounding area for example Quackity going to Sam's island being a bird eyes view works well compared to seeing it through Quackity but the constant switching during the clip with Wilbur just didn't pass the vibe check. And in my opinion was one of the weakest parts of the stream purely because of the constant perspective switch.
For example the bit with Punz and Bad being through Quackity's eyes up until the tnt went off to show the destruction was a good example of how to switch perspectives and keep the SMP essence.
One of the things that could be cool if done correctly regarding a perspective shift is Ranboo's enderwalking through other people's perspective. Another I think would be someone's slowly changing through someone's eyes like seeing Dream change in the prison through Sam's eyes or Niki, Jack and/or Fundy losing everything and the effects of that through Eret, Hbomb and/or Puffy's eyes. But that's a whole different post.
Back to Quackity's stream as much as I am critical I still want to compliment it. I love Quackity's stream always including other people. It's why the Eggpire is my favourite because it's written so anyone who wants to join the lore can join.
This stream showcased Quackity as a character a lot from the need to take control after being controlled for so long to him still being a person. The difference from him trying to manipulate Sam into killing Dream and getting mad when Sam doesn't do it to the betrayal with his friends moving on without him.
One of my favourite things was him showing that whilst he was making a casino to make money he was planning on using the money on Karl and Sapnap rather than it being solely for him. Basically showing that whilst the casino has multiple ulterior motives he still chose to make profit for his chosen family instead of solely himself. For example Dream making George King was so he could have control over the King and still have a big say in everything behind the scenes. It wasn't to give George power. However it's one of my favourite things as him removing George kick-started Mexican L'Manberg and the Dream Team separation but also still showed that Dreamm still wasn't completely using George as the second George was being threatened he removed the cause of it (he couldn't remove the threat as Techno was his ally) Basically Quackity having a casino benefitting his cause and his family was proof that he's not completely lost if you compare it to Dream's final visible humanity choice.
My favourite thing by far was the similarities between him and Wilbur's character and Him and George's character. He saw George standing on his own in front of the prison after being abandoned by Dream then the switch was Quackity being abandoned my Sapnap and Karl and being on his own. It shows similarities between George's story and Quackity's but also how the both responded differently. Same with Quackity and Wilbur it was them giving and receiving advice from eachother and how it ended up. Basically showing that if Quackity continues to follow Wilbur's path he's going to end up like Wilbur.
I said before that Quackity is a mix of Dream and Wilbur because he has the determination that they both have to reach their goals and he's quickly slipping into their mindset of doing anything to achieve said goals. I also think he sympathisers with both George and Bad as they both lost their best friends to corrupted things (Skeppy and the Egg, Dream to himself and power). Quackity is very quickly losing his fiance's to corrupted things. Sapnap is loyal to everyone but nobody has remained loyal back which could lead to corruptnap. Turned by betrayal and loneliness. Karl is lost to memories and the euphoria of adventure.
TLDR: I prefer the first stream but I still enjoyed the second one.

Dream SMP Alignments (as of Oct. 8 2020)
So, @pog2024 and I were talking after the aftermath of whatever the fuck just happened in yesterday’s streams, and we decided a way to understand it was by making a classic alignment chart based on the characters involved in the current Dream SMP plotline.
Tumblr media
So, here are our explanations! This is just based on our interpretations of the characters and our opinions, and also please remember that these are CHARACTERS. None of this is super serious, they’re all friends, and we know that. Anyways, if you’re interested please continue reading! (SPOILERS AHEAD)
Lawful Good: Wilbur I, Dream, and Badboyhalo.
Wilbur I: This is Wilbur prior to yesterday’s stream. Wilbur has, up to today, built up a pretty consistent character who really embodies lawful good. He works in the interest of his nation, but he does so in an honorable way. He works for the freedom of his nation and what he sees is good and just, which is fair of him. Wilbur was a lawful, dependable leader who we could trust to lead the war with words not weapons, and though he strayed into the unlawful from time to time, he still remained generally lawful.
Dream: Some may see Dream as an evil alignment, but I don’t agree with that. I think that in the end, Dream is for the greater good of his server. He believes in law and order and a sense of fairness among everyone. While he did have a villain arc, he clearly did not see himself as such. In his eyes, he was a ruler who had been wrongfully defied. The war for independence was, after all, started because Wilbur wanted to make drugs, and when Dream told them no, he decided to make his own country within Dream’s land where he made the rules. It makes perfect sense that Dream would be against that, but we as the audience were only shown L’Manberg’s viewpoint, and therefore we only saw Dream when he was fighting them. I think if he were truly evil, he would have been much cruller to L’Manberg when they defied him. He had a few dirty moves, but he generally was a man of his word and didn’t attempt to manipulate the opposition in his favor. He plays fair and he plays for what he believes is right.
BadBoyHalo: Bad is a little less clear cut. We put him here because while he is sort of his own agent, he seems to evaluate every situation he becomes a part of very carefully. He doesn’t want to be the bad guy. He was originally on the side of Pogtopia, but he switched because of Tommy’s chaos. This implies that he’s not Pro-Schlatt or Pro-Manberg, but he is anti-Tommy. Tommy is too chaotic and unlawful in his eyes, and that goes against the peaceful environment that Bad wants for the SMP. He wants good and he wants peace and he will fight for that good.
Neutral Good: Niki and Fundy
Niki: I don’t really have much to say on this, but I think that Niki is just purely good. She doesn’t verge too much towards Lawful nor Chaotic. I think she’s very passive and only recently has she been actively fighting. But even so, she is not very confrontational and tends to sit towards the side, though she does speak up to Schlatt and his men when they do something she feels is wrong.
Fundy: Fundy is another one that I think people might disagree with, but I think he’s just neutral good. His spy arc proves that he will do pretty much anything for the greater good, even if that means losing everything in the process. He’s not lawful because he is not afraid to break the law and make people angry. It’s just not a concern of his, he just does what he thinks will secure a “happy ending.” However, he isn’t necessarily chaotic because he is far too calculated. Fundy does not make rash decisions, all of his moves are planned and deliberate, so I think neutral good is the role he fits best.
Chaotic Good: TommyInnit
Tommy: I think everyone will agree with me on this one, but I’ll explain it anyways. Tommy is practically the textbook definition of chaotic good. He has a strong moral code which he proved today, even going against Wilbur when he felt Wilbur was becoming a villain. His sense of right or wrong is bigger than Pogtopia and L’Manberg, but he uses it as a way to make his society better. Tommy is not afraid of causing destruction. He has proven it many times that he is extremely chaotic and will stab shit whenever necessary. He has some plans, but generally acts instinctively and emotionally, which is his weakness. However, his moral code is too strong for him to be anything but good. One thing that’s interesting is that he’s becoming less chaotic and more of a leader. He is becoming less reactionary and more righteous.
Lawful Neutral: Eret, Skeppy
Eret: Eret follows his own interests. When he betrayed L’Manberg, it was because he knew they would lose. It was in his best interest to join who he sees as the winning team. Also, he was not extremely dedicated to L’Manerg’s cause, and it benefited him much more to betray his friends than join in their demise. He wants order and he wants things done fair, and he sees Schlatt as a threat to his interests. So, he tries to help because he believes that by helping Pogtopia, he is securing his power and his position, but he doesn’t truly care for their cause.
Skeppy: Skeppy is kind of hard to place because he hasn’t been super involved. I think he’s similar to Bad, but he doesn’t have as clear of a motivation to do the right thing or ensure the greater good. He doesn’t care much for the conflicts of others until they drag him into it. However, he is lawful in the sense that he fights if he feels he or those around him are wronged. He’ll fight people, he’s not afraid to, but he prefers to stay on his own side separate from everyone else.
True Neutral: Tubbo, Quackity, Punz
Tubbo: Tubbo was a hard one, I wasn’t sure where to place him for a while. But, right now he is playing his cards somewhat close to his chest. There’s a lot of debate as to where his loyalties really lie. He doesn’t seem to be evil, but he’s not exactly good either. His fight for Pogtopia is not for the cause but for his friends. He is driven by his loyalties, but under the threat of Schlatt he could switch in a second. He is too much of a follower to fight back. Tubbo is becoming more and more of his own entity and he’s gaining an odd amount of power as time goes on. He’s dragged himself into the center of an argument that he doesn’t seem to care about.
Quackity: Quackity is another interesting one. Even though he’s on Schlatt’s side, he’s not really evil. Similar to Tubbo, he’s more of a follower than anything. He listens to Schlatt and he supports him but he doesn’t seem to do much on his own accord. He isn’t really lawful or chaotic because, to put it simply, he doesn’t really do enough to be considered either. Quackity is mainly there for humor, but under that it’s clear that he is just watching the SMP burn around him.
Punz: Punz works for those who will help him. He doesn’t care much about who wins or loses, and he’s proven that 25 dollars is more than enough to make him forfeit the fight. Punz wants to keep his power, but he doesn’t seem to want more than what he has already. He’ll fight because he knows he can, not because he feels like he has to for any moral or political reason.
Chaotic Neutral: Technoblade, Sapnap
Techno: Techno is just an agent of chaos. He follows his own rules and his freedom is his main priority. Good and evil are afterthoughts, and he seems to disregard them as long as he’s fulfilling his anarchist agenda. He’s not looking at this from a moral standpoint. He came on because he was summoned, but he isn’t here for Pogtopia. His anarchist view puts him as completely unlawful, he has no regard for what the laws of the server are, he only wants blood. He is chaotic in the sense that he opposes established authority and promotes anarchy, but he is neutral in the sense that he lacks a moral compass regarding the conflict on hand. Similar to Punz, he fights because he can. All he wants is to gain power on his own terms and prove himself as a warrior, whether he’s a fighter for good or evil is not any of his concern.
Sapnap: To put it simply, Sapnap is chaotic neutral because he causes problems just for the sake of causing problems. This is proven with the pet war and with the murder of Henry. He didn’t do that as a deliberate attack on L’Manberg/Tommy, but he knew exactly what would happen. He likes to cause drama and cause fights because he’s bored. However, while he is clearly causing unrest CONSTANTLY, he doesn’t do it to be evil or for the purpose of war. He’s not evil. He doesn’t have the motivation to start a real war like Schlatt, Wilbur, and Dream, but he’ll still help. He’ll switch sides as it benefits him because in the end he doesn’t really care about the outcome. In the end, he just thrives on chaos because that’s what keeps him entertained.
Lawful Evil: GeorgeNotFound
George: George isn’t super involved, so it’s hard to place him but I think he’s pretty clearly Lawful Evil. He wants the power that Schlatt’s giving him (since he didn’t get that from Dream when he was on his side in the original war), and he doesn’t care about what happens to Pogtopia and he doesn’t care who he has to step on. He’s the strength of Schlatt’s administration, and he knows it. George is powerful and when he’s pitted against Pogtopia, he’ll be ruthless. He sees them as lower than him and reacts to their arguments and their fights as if they’re children.
Schlatt: Schlatt is evil just because he wants to be. He knows exactly what he’s doing and he knows every move he makes, even if he’s just going for a bit or for some funny content. He’s another one who’s too calculated to be chaotic, however he rejects tradition and set rules with no respect for established society. This made us think initially that he’d be neutral evil, but his style of evil is lawful. Like Wilbur said, Schlatt was democratically elected through a coalition government. It was all completely lawful and just. Schlatt sees a legal governing system as a better option because it’s easier to exploit. He has the high ground because he became leader fair & square. While he is rejecting tradition and destroying the history of L’Manberg, he is still using the law to his advantage. He seems to lean neutral, but he’s mostly lawful.
Chaotic Evil: Wilbur II
Wilbur II: This is Wilbur after yesterday’s streams. Wilbur has completely snapped, and he’s becoming unhinged. Wilbur began to question himself and whether or not he’s the good guy, something he’s spent all series convincing all of us. Schlatt’s manipulation is tricking even Wilbur into seeing the good in Manberg, corrupting him and driving him mad. This new Wilbur is a bastardization of the man who was president and contradicts everything he once stood for. This Wilbur is violent and impulsive. He wants to hurt people, and he doesn’t care who it is that he hurts even if they’re on his side. He doesn’t trust anyone so everyone’s his enemy. This Wilbur has no regard for morality or his nation, all he wants is to tear everything down and leave nothing in his wake.
So yeah!! Those are our thoughts, feel free to continue discussing this if you want, I’d be really interested to see what you all have to say! Of course, these are all just our opinions and yes, we are definitely taking this way too seriously.
