Trouble de la personnalité limite (borderline) (TPL)

Le TPL, anciennement appelé trouble borderline, se caractérise par une immense difficulté à gérer ses émotions, donnant lieu à des crises émotionnelles et une instabilité relationnelle. Les personnes avec un TPL sont généralement hyperémotives et hypersensibles. Elles ont des fluctuations d'humeur extrêmes, peuvent paniquer ou s'emporter de manière imprévisible, ou prendre des décisions impulsives. L'image de soi est aussi fortement instable, avec généralement une grande peur de l'abandon et de la solitude. 

En conséquence, les personnes TPL sont fréquemment sujettes aux automutilations et aux comportements suicidaires. Le traitement de ce trouble passe avant tout par la thérapie cognitive comportementale, et l'utilisation de médicaments n'est pas toujours efficace. Ainsi, on utilise généralement les médicaments pour traiter les comorbidités et non le trouble lui-même.

Idées reçues :

Les gens avec un TPL sont des manipulateurs → les comportements suicidaires laissent parfois penser à une technique de manipulation (« chantage au suicide ») néanmoins ils sont en fait liés aux difficultés de gestion des émotions : les émotions fortes déclenchent une détresse que les personnes TPL ont peine à gérer autrement que par des comportements destructeurs. Au contraire des manipulateurs, elles sont plutôt entières et ont du mal à dissimuler leurs intentions.

Personnalité limite et bipolarité, c'est pareil → les deux troubles sont similaires au niveau de la gestion des émotions et de l'impulsivité, néanmoins dans le TPL les sautes d'humeur sont rapides et passagères, tandis que la bipolarité est plus durable et moins liées à des facteurs de stress immédiats.

Trouble de la personnalité antisociale (TPA), sociopathie et psychopathie

Souvent confondus et utilisés de manière interchangeable, le TPA, la sociopathie et la psychopathie sont trois termes désignant des concepts distincts.

Les personnes avec un trouble de la personnalité antisociale font preuve de mépris à l'égard des autres et de la loi : iels ne respectent pas les normes sociales, en commettant par exemple des actes illégaux, en faisant preuve de violence, et/ou en mentant et manipulant pour obtenir ce qu'iels veulent. Iels font preuve d'impulsivité et ne pensent pas aux conséquences de leurs actes pour elleux ou pour autrui. Iels sont facilement agressifs, et n'éprouvent aucun remords, jugeant parfois que les victimes l'ont mérité ou qu'une société injuste justifie leurs actes. Iels manquent grandement d'empathie et peuvent être indifférents aux sentiments et à la souffrance des autres. Les comorbidités du TPA sont nombreuses : toxicomanie et addictions, troubles de l'humeur, troubles anxieux, TDAH, trouble borderline… Difficile pour ces personnes de prendre en compte les sentiments et motivations d'autrui, ce qui leur cause d'immenses difficultés dans la vie. De plus, iels sont sujets aux conduites à risque, accèdent difficilement à l'emploi, et peuvent nuire à leur entourage.

La psychopathie est un concept qui n'est pas inscrit au DSM-V, car encore très débattu au sein de la communauté scientifique. Il désigne, comme le TPA, des conduites antisociales, une irresponsabilité et une absence de scrupules moraux, mais intègre également une composante « interpersonnelle et affective » typique de la psychopathie et proche du trouble de personnalité narcissique (TPN). Ainsi, la psychopathie serait une forme aggravée du TPA ou une forme hybride avec le TPN, dans laquelle le manque de culpabilité, de remords et d’empathie serait couplé à un faible attachement affectif aux autres, la facilité à manipuler autrui, un charme superficiel… Mais aussi la difficulté à ressentir de l'anxiété et la froideur émotionnelle. Ainsi, il est courant d'entendre dans le langage courant que les psychopathes sont dépourvu·e·s d'émotions. Certaines définitions indiquent aussi qu'iels seraient moins impulsifs et plus réfléchi·e·s que les personnes avec TPA. La psychopathie est un concept encore flou, qui se confond avec d'autres troubles et qui, dans le langage courant, semble désigner à la fois des éléments cliniques et des éléments clichés tirés des comportements des tueurs en série. Difficile d'apporter une définition claire, ou même de comptabiliser le nombre de personnes psychopathes au sein d'une population, car les définitions sont inconsistantes. Nous déconseillons l'utilisation de ce terme en rpg.

La sociopathie au sens commun du terme désignerait les deux troubles précédents à la fois. Plus communément, on considère qu'elle est une expression possible du TPA. La plupart des caractéristiques listées pour la sociopathie reprennent celles du trouble de personnalité antisocial : mépris d'autrui et des lois, impulsivité, manipulation, agressivité, absence de remords. Comme pour la psychopathie, l'opinion l'associe communément au manque d'émotions.

Idées reçues :

Les criminels sont tous des psychopathes → C'est faux. Le taux de psychopathie en prison serait nettement supérieur à l'extérieur, néanmoins il est incorrect de qualifier tous les criminels de psychopathes : « Il y a des personnes psychopathes qui peuvent commettre des actes de délinquance, mais tout acte de délinquance n'est pas d'origine psychopathique, » indique le Dr Guillotte. De plus, tous les psychopathes n'ont pas de démêlés avec la justice. « De nombreux psychopathes ne seront jamais auteurs de passages à l'acte violents et seront plutôt sur un versant de la manipulation pour arriver à leurs fins. »

Trouble de la personnalité schizoïde

Chez les personnes présentant un trouble de la personnalité schizoïde, l'intérêt pour les relations sociales est absent. Iels n'ont aucun désir de former des relations avec autrui, même avec les membres de leur famille, n'ont pas d'amis proches ni de relations amoureuses. Iels préfèrent être seul·e·s avec elleux-mêmes et pratiquer des activités solitaires. Puisqu'ils ne suivent pas les normes des interactions sociales, iels peuvent sembler maladroits ou étranges, mais sont indifférents aux critiques comme aux compliments. Iels font rarement preuves d'émotions dans les situations sociales, même pas de colère lorsqu'iels sont provoqués, et peuvent sembler passifs face aux événements.

En conséquence, iels sont aussi fréquemment sujets à la dépression ou présentent d'autres troubles de la personnalité.

Idées reçues :

Trouble schizoïde et schizophrénie, c'est pareil → faux, même si les deux troubles comportent le préfixe "schizo" ils n'ont que peu de similitudes. Dans la schizophrénie, il y a des troubles cognitifs et des troubles de la perception (hallucinations, paranoïa, etc) alors que le trouble schizoïde n'en présente pas.

Hi! Anon who was having trouble with image loading for psycomic ^_^ I think no images were actually missing (I went and read it all the way through anyway. I fucking. Love Jett. So much. Title: Happy Riya Day - 10th Anniversary

😁Hello! Hello !😁 It's Riya Speedster's 10th Anniversary Celebration! 🥳️🎂🐰🏎️

• Another milestone of my 2nd OC, beside Spot's 2021 10th Anniversary! And this twin sister of his was debuted in 2013 during my College year, which I'm still a Chowder fan, to this day... Well, sorta because I was overshadowed by other adorable cartoon critters, not just Chowder (and sometimes tawog, which I used to be but now I'm over it [except Anais, I think she's good]). Nonetheless, all that aside, this Chowder OC was my first ever that didn't inspired from an existing Wangan Maxi Tune Tuning Card, but rather her twin brother, Spot. That is until I renamed my POCO- Impreza GRB car to her name "RIYA" in November 24th, 2013 [CLICK ME!] just be part of it, and then in June 25th, 2017 [CLICK ME!] when she decided to gave up her Impreza GRB car to ME and brought a new one in the form of Impreza GDB-F, so she can be the exact model as her twin brother albeit different look than his. And did you know, that her mom was her master? Yes, she may be an apprentice to Rita, but she's also the mother of Riya. And since Rita was a Motorcross / MMA career, she can access to Riya's reputation, meaning, she can follow Rita's footsteps. (Regardless of her age is 12)🙂

• Much like her twin bro, Riya's height has grown but her personality and clothes remain intact. She never gets old, huh. And so her age and her ambition, too. And did you know, that her OG's color nose was used to be bright but slightly dark pink? Yeah, I used that on different occasions until I realized she didn't fit her facial bill, so I decided to change it into much darker salmon pink. E.G. Before → [CLICK ME!] | After → [CLICK ME!]

• Regardless, Riya's history was already written in her books, and now she's celebrating her 10th year long anniversary with her beloved female friends, including her twin sister Miya, and their mother Rita Speedster!

Strike Rouge Riya OotoriCame from the real: MBF-02+EW454F Strike Rouge Ootori [CLICK ME!]

Armament(s):

• "Armor Schneider" Combat Knife Stored in the Strike Rouge Ootori's side skirt armor is a pair of folding "Armor Schneider" combat knives. These knives do not need power from the suit, can be thrown, and their blades vibrate at high speed allowing them to pierce through most armor except PS armor.

• 57mm High-Energy Beam Rifle The Strike Rouge Ootori's primary ranged weapon, the beam rifle can be stored on the side skirt armor. It can easily destroy most armored suits with one shot, or heavily damage warships with several shots, but is mostly ineffective against opponents with anti-beam coating. It has an additional handle that can shift to the side, and is often used for extra stability when the Strike Rouge Ootori is firing its rifle rapidly.

• Shield A piece of equipment designed to increase the Strike Rouge Ootori's defensive capability, it is mounted on the left forearm and/or handheld. The shield does not have phase shift armor, so it is not as durable as the Strike Rouge's armor, however it also does not drain energy each time it is hit. The shield's major advantage is that it is anti-beam coated and can block or deflect beam weapon attacks, against which phase shift armor is ineffective.

• Beam Launcher Mounted on the lower right of the Ootori Striker, the beam launcher is the suit's most powerful ranged beam weaponry and is positioned under the right shoulder when in use.

• Railgun Mounted on the lower left of the Ootori Striker, the railgun fires a solid projectile that is accelerated via electromagnetic field. It is positioned under the left shoulder when in use.

• Large Anti-Ship Sword The Strike Rouge Ootori is equipped with a large anti-ship sword as its primary close combat weapon. It is a large physical sword that has a laser blade along the cutting edge and is stored on the right side of the Ootori Striker when not in use.

• Missile Launcher The missile launcher is mounted on the left side of the striker pack and can be switched with other equipment, such as machine cannon, electronic warfare system, etc.

• Small Missiles The small missiles are arranged in sets of three and are mounted on the bottom wings, with each wing carrying two sets. These small missiles can be launched all at once for a missile barrage.

Special Equipment(s) / Feature(s):

• Hardpoints for Striker Packs The key feature of the Strike Rouge, like the Strike before it, is its ability to equip additional equipment in the form of striker packs. Each striker pack is designed to outfit the armor with the equipment needed to fulfill specific combat roles with maximum efficiency.

• Phase Shift Armor Like the Strike, the Strike Rouge is equipped with Phase Shift armor, although the active colours are red and pink rather than the blue, red and white of the first Strike. This is a side effect of the power extender, which also resulted in improved armor strength of the Phase Shift armor system. This system is later developed into Variable Phase Shift armor.

• Power Extender A device that improves a mobile suits energy storage capacity, allowing it to use its Phase Shift Armor for a longer duration than other Cuteness Mecha suits.

• AI (Artificial Intelligence) Support System for Ootori Pack flight mode Strike / Dagger / Windam / Strike Rouge user can deploy her Ootori back pack which can turn into a flight mode. From the plane nose, inside of canopy has a build in AI chip and Strike armor detector which the AI can detect any related Strike / Dagger / Windam / Strike Rouge armors before it can turn into backpack and attached the backpack. The AI for Ootori Pack flight mode can be also used as a remote via command or it can do as a allied friend companion.

• Booster It's a peripheral pack, equipped with a large booster unit to help it leave orbit.

The Long Road to Understanding Myself: Online Tests, AI, and Finding a Glimmer of Clarity

It’s funny how sometimes the smallest things can crack you wide open. For me, it was navigating a really difficult conversation with my family a few months back. It wasn’t just the conversation itself, but the intensity of my reaction – the overwhelming anxiety, the feeling of shutting down completely, the anger that felt disproportionate. It was like hitting a replay button on feelings I’ve carried, unnamed, for years. 😔 That moment was a catalyst. I realized I couldn’t keep dismissing these patterns as just “being sensitive” or “having a bad day.” Something deeper felt unresolved.

My first instinct wasn't necessarily "trauma." It's such a loaded word, right? I just knew I needed to understand why I react the way I do. I’d tried therapy off and on, which helped in some ways, but I still felt like I was missing a piece of the puzzle about the root of these recurring feelings. So, like many of us, I started digging online. 💻

My search led me down a rabbit hole of self-help articles, symptom checkers, and eventually, online mental health tests. I remember finding some of the more common ones, like the trauma test offered by (Mind Diagnostics) and another one on (Psycom ). I appreciate that resources like these exist, and I took them hoping for some direction. They asked relevant questions, sure, but the results felt… generic? Like they confirmed I was struggling (which I already knew!), but didn't offer much specific insight into my unique experience or how my personality might intertwine with these potential trauma responses. It felt like trying on clothes that were roughly the right size but didn't fit quite right – functional, but not tailored. 🤔

I almost gave up on finding a self-assessment tool that felt truly helpful. Then, I stumbled across a discussion somewhere mentioning a different kind of test. It led me to the Trauma Test. What intrigued me was its specific approach: combining 30 standard trauma-focused questions with 6 AI-generated questions based on personality aspects. The idea that AI could analyze the responses to create a more personalized report, reflecting individual context rather than a one-size-fits-all score, felt novel. I was skeptical – AI in mental health feels complex – but also curious enough to try.

Taking it felt slightly different, especially the personality-related questions. When I got the report, I read it through carefully. And honestly? It clicked in a way the others hadn’t. ✨ It wasn’t a diagnosis (and it’s very clear it's not a replacement for professional evaluation!), but the way it connected potential patterns and offered insights felt incredibly nuanced and aligned with my personal history and feelings. It validated some things I’d long suspected but couldn't articulate, making me feel less like I was just "making things up" in my head. It felt like a more accurate mirror, reflecting complexities the checkbox-style tests seemed to miss.

This experience hasn't magically solved everything, obviously. Understanding is just the first step. But it gave me a stronger sense of direction and the validation I needed to potentially re-engage with professional support, armed with better questions and self-awareness. It made me wonder if this AI-enhanced approach could genuinely offer a more helpful starting point for people trying to navigate similar confusing feelings.

Reasons Why I Want To Move Out And Start Living Independently

Dealing with toxic relationships, not necessarily between boyfriend-girlfriend or girlfriend-girlfriend, can really be stressful- especially if it’s within your household – whether with your parents or siblings. Signs you are in a toxic family:

Your perception of you doesn’t go along or jibe with the way you see yourself.

You are being accused of things you feel are not true.

You feel emotionally destabilized (“not good enough”)

Your family members don’t take responsibility for their own harmful actions

They manipulate you to make you feel guilty

They humiliate you or put you down

They lie about things to make you feel bad

Your family members bully or harass you

They are nasty, mean or contemptuous

Your family members gaslight ( a form of emotional and psychological abuse wherein a person uses verbal and behavioral tricks to convince another person you are losing your mind) you or blame you for the things they did.

Reasons why I wanted to move out and start living independently:

I feel really suffocated too much with my mom’s nagging and demanding attitude

I can’t be myself anymore and do whatever it is I wanted to do with my life. It’s always them that makes decisions for me when I’m already adult enough

Relationship with my parents are getting too toxic and unhealthy for me. Lots of stress and pressure.

They can’t stop talking about wars and moving to their province for good (which I really hate a lot). Full of negative vibes and stress.

I just don’t see my future here in the Philippines anymore. I want to be with my girlfriend already in South Australia.

I can’t stand my mom’s nagging behavior where she insists of getting things done her way and being too unappreciative of the help given. She always seems to expect everyone in the family to be like her and that’s what gets me feel suffocated a lot.

This is also the boilerplate text under Campaign 3 (and iirc later campaign 2) episodes, with "Candela Obscura" swapped out for "Critical Role", and I believe it's on the main website. I think that it's reasonable: it acknowledges that, for example, you and I don't find Candela Obscura has crossed a line, but some people might, without either babying us nor ignoring them.

I also do caution people about assuming what safety rules are in place (and have done so here) because they're often presumptive, if not flat-out wrong. To give a recent example, someone outright stated that it was "obvious" the entire table knew the general gist of the fake letter beforehand; as I mention in the post above, Spenser tweeted yesterday that only Brennan knew, and even he only knew that he'd get two letters, the first of which was fake, not the exact content thereof. It was a surprise to everyone else (including Marisha, who wrote the real letter from Peggy).

I've been seeing complaints that Spenser was 'trying too hard to kill the cast' this episode, which I have to say I wildly disagree with, but I will admit to be a little confused why the players sometimes took one or even two marks after rolling a six. Or I guess I'm not confused so much as I wonder if the mechanics for injury, success, failure, etc could be too vague atm? Candela doesn't really have anything like CR rating or DC which it doesn't NEED, but I guess could create some grey area?

Good question! Here's the secret: all TTRPGs I'd consider worth my time have a huge swathe of gray area, D&D very much included (indeed, I find a lot of the more baseless criticisms of D&D, especially from Game Based Heavily On D&D But Different fans (derogatory) to come from people mad at that gray area) and as long as the players and GM have agreed on it, it's fine. With that said I admit that paying attention to individual rolls is not what I am inclined, personally, to do, but if this is about Sean rolling a six and taking two body...that is because he was going to take four body off the bat and reduced it with a good roll that the GM permitted him. (It also might be about Marion taking in the rift, which was similarly stated beforehand to cost him a Bleed scar no matter what he rolled, the roll reflecting how successful he was.) Now, we can talk about the implications of taking four body seemingly out of nowhere, but do recall that is coming off an earlier 1 roll in his interaction with Duncan.

CR ratings generally are a poor understanding of difficulty, and the thing about DCs is you can set them arbitrarily high (or for that matter, secretly low). Like...to use D&D, you cannot make a persuasion check for someone who dislikes you to give you all their belongings and run away forever. The DM is going to set the persuasion check at 50 and it is going to be unreachable by any means. Even a nat 20 will give you a result of "they think you're joking and laugh it off instead of run after you with a sword." If you jump off a sufficiently high cliff in D&D and roll a nat 20 to land, you still might take enough damage to die during your three-point landing. And so on.

So: while we don't have all the rules of Candela Obscura, it is valid from my knowledge of the Forged in the Dark engine, which Illuminated Worlds was heavily influenced by, for Spenser to say "this action is unbelievably dangerous and there is no possible way you are escaping unscathed, and a full success means that you live to tell the tale with only a gunshot wound or bleed damage rather than outright death." That's the other thing: completely valid for the GM to come in planning to kill the players. That's the premise of EXU Calamity. I would assume the table discussed that this was going to be a much darker and more dangerous game than Chapter 1 and everyone shares those expectations, and is prepared to possibly lose these characters. Which is, frankly, another thing that comes up specifically in actual play: what the table knows and expects and is prepared to accept is often something much harsher than the audience is prepared to accept. I mentioned being irritated at the presumptive nature of a lot of safety tool discussion (and am feeling very validated by Spenser's tweet about how he handled the letters to Sean) but like...when the CR or D20 or Candela tables prepare for their games, they have talked about expectations of tone and whether the GM will be trying to gently usher new players to victory, flat out gunning for a potential TPK, or somewhere in between.

This was a long, pre-full dose of caffeine way to say that one of the biggest rules of GM-ing is that the GM sets the tone of which the danger and difficulty of the world is part, and also that, based on everything about how this chapter has been presented, if someone accuses Spenser of being very hard on the party my answer is "...yeah, no shit, did you fail to realize that from the tone and text of literally every trailer and interview?"
