I was having a rough night so I went to my favorite funny website IsMercuryInRetrograde.com
I’m not a huge believer in astrology, but the website only has two pages:
If it’s in retrograde it says yes, which feels weirdly validating.
If it’s not in retrograde it just says “No, something else must be bumming you out,” which always gives me a little chuckle.
Fun silly website. Yay.
Except this time
Tumblr media
YES. SOMETHING ELSE IS BUMMING ME OUT.
The fact that unless I lock myself in a room with only pre-written or pre-recorded material that I’ve already read or watched and know is safe I CANNOT GO TWELVE FUCKING HOURS WITHOUT HEARING ABOUT THIS FUCKING WAR.
It’s killing me. There are no breaks. I open any website or social media app and it’s an immediate bombardment of info about the war. I go watch a YouTube video and then there’s a fundraiser at the end.
I flip through channels and see news about an antisemitic attack or a bombing in Gaza or Rafah.
I leave notifications on and get a text from a friend who sees a “rape is resistance” sticker on her walk home from school.
I go to look for pride merch and see watermelon merch mixed in as if war is some kind of gay accessory. I look through a fandom tag and see cartoon characters in a kids cartoon drawn with Palestinian flags.
It’s fucking endless. It’s insane. I just wanted a few days without having to think about all of it so I could recharge and I haven’t even been able to go a continuous 12 hour stretch without something or someone shoving the whole thing in my face.
It’s not healthy to live like this. I already have PTSD. And I’m trying with all my might not to retreat fully within myself but this is fucking killing me.
And I am someone who is pro peace and pro ceasefire and pro Palestinian welfare and anti-Likud but also anti-antisemitism. I do nothing but promote interfaith and intercultural organizations devoted to fostering peace. I want this war over.
And yet I’m fucking stuck in this perpetual hellhole of awful news and constant imagery about war and death and antisemitism and Palestinian suffering. And it’s too much. Why can’t I even go 12 hours. It’s killing me.
The fucking mercury in retrograde website‽ YES. SOMETHING ELSE IS BUMMING ME OUT AND ITS YOU.

𝑬𝒗𝒊𝒍 𝑬𝒚𝒆 𝑻𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒔 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑷𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝑼𝒔𝒆:
1. 𝑬𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒚-𝑺𝒊𝒑𝒉𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 (➖)
• Recruiting Allies: They recruit other people to help with undermining you, knowing they can't succeed alone.
• Obsessive Monitoring: They engage in gang-stalking behavior, fixating on you, plotting and praying on your downfall.
• Controlling Behavior: They nitpick and belittle you, trying to manipulate your emotions and provoke reactions.
• One-Sided Relationships: You invest your energy into them, but they offer nothing in return. Essentially, pouring into an empty cup, leaving you drained and feeling entitled to your energy.
• Deteriorating Health: Their influence can manifest in negative effects on your well-being, leading to visible changes such as decreased vitality, increased illness, and persistent brain fog.
2. 𝑬𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒑𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 👹
• Gaslighting: They make you question your reality through passive-aggressive tactics, engaging in psychological warfare that is truly diabolical. This involves throwing stones and hiding their hands, creating confusion that drives you to doubt your perceptions and feel like you’re going crazy.
• Isolation: Following a smear campaign, you may find yourself ostracized, leaving you vulnerable and unprotected. This isolation is even more distressing if you don’t fully understand what’s happening.
• Existential Neglect: They act as if you don’t exist, undermining your self-worth and causing you to doubt yourself. This behavior pushes you to seek their validation, aiming to disconnect you from your true self.
3. 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒀𝒐𝒖 🪢
• Commitment to Misunderstanding: They are dedicated to misinterpreting you, and people who dislike you will always find faults, fueled by a relentless desire to undermine you.
• Projection: They impose their limiting perceptions on you, trying to box you into a version they can control.
• Stagnation: They resist your growth, attempting to keep you in a state where they had the most control over you, and project their own lack of evolution onto you.
4. 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒐 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 🪬
1. Wear Protective Crystals: Utilize stones such as black tourmaline, obsidian, and smoky quartz. Wear evil eye jewelry, and incorporate protective practices like spell jars, mantras, and visualization techniques.
• I create evil eye-themed jewelry, crystal jewelry, and spell jars, which will be available for purchase soon. 💟
• 𝚂𝚙𝚎𝚕𝚕 𝙹𝚊𝚛𝚜 🌱🫙
2. Pray for Protection: If necessary, consider return-to-sender or freeze spells. However, these are most effective when you know the source of the negativity. Identifying the evil eye source can be challenging, especially in omnipresent situations.
• 𝚁𝚎𝚝𝚞𝚛𝚗 𝚝𝚘 𝚂𝚎𝚗𝚍𝚎𝚛/𝙵𝚛𝚎𝚎𝚣𝚎 𝚂𝚙𝚎𝚕𝚕
3. Practice Energetic Detachment: Employ the "grey rock" method—remain unresponsive and stoic. By becoming an emotionless force, you deprive them of the energy they seek to access.
4. Embrace Your Inner Power: Recognize that they are sending negative energy towards you. Channel that energy back to them, transmuting it into your own strength. Remember, these individuals are ultimately weak; their attempts to bring you down are driven by a desire to feel powerful and in control.

"Funny enough I—like, if street hockey, ministicks, I always wanted to be a goalie too! Like, for some reason I always wanted to go in net. You know, probably because of [my Dad] and then, um, you know, once you get dinged a couple times and the shots get too hard you realise—then it's not so much fun after all so... Yeah, it was great he'd always—" "You probably wanted to be goalie 'cuz you're fucking crazy, man! Those guys are bananas! I actually went as a goalie in morning skate one time when I was suspended in the coast, and it was the scariest thing ever, bro. It's nothing like blocking a shot because you're literally just standing there, and these guys are shooting right at you. It's unbelievable!" "Yeah! You gotta get in the way of the stuff to save it! That's crazy! I know, and like obviously gear is like great and they don't really feel—but there is, like, that psychological thing going on where, like, you know, you wanna move out of the way 'cuz it's gonna hurt! I get—I mean, it must not hurt that much, like, 'cuz Bob's crazy, man! Bob loves taking—Well, I wouldn't say loves taking it off the head, but he doesn't hate it, like he—" "Feels good?" "You know, every once in a while—they hit him in the head and you go up and say sorry he's like, 'No, no! It's all good! I love it, I love it!!' and like, kind-of shoos you away so."

Psychological Warfare of the Malayan Emergency by Herbert A. Friedman (Ret.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Have you ever been taught a version of history at school that seems weirdly simplistic? And then years later, you find more evidence that shows the whole affair was a giant, complicated mess?
Guess what I learned over the past few months about the Malayan Emergency.
For context, the Malayan Emergency was a conflict that raged in the British colony of Malaya from 1948 until the 1960s between communist forces and the British government, later continued by the independent Malayan government. The government forces won, but any school teachings of the conflict was presented in a manner that simplified the complex (and often, grey) nature of the Emergency.
I knew since then that a lot of truths were hidden away, but I didn't realize that there was a psychological aspect to the Emergency until I stumbled upon this webpage by a retired military officer about it. Given the length of the information provided and that it's the only one of it's kind — and therefore at risk of information loss if deleted, I sought to bookbind it. Pictures and all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Given the amount of information contained and the sheer number of images, this project took about a month!
I had to divide the continuous stream of information in the webpage into readable chapters.
Then, I had to layout the images with the text, which was actually harder than expected — the size of the image could shift relevant text into the following pages, so it was a process of balancing image size to textual placement.
In-between that was the regular work of typesetting, but also of formatting quotes and examples, of which there were a lot.
And then there were pages that required special attention. For example, these pages:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The pages on the right was relatively simple — a double-sided leaflet that could be showcased in a double-page spread, with contextual information in the following pages.
On the left however, to create the list of dead / living people, I had to finagle a table in Microsoft Word and constantly adjust the cell size to make the long names and positions fit. The whole endeavor was an exercise in patience.
Leafing through the pages, there are some parts I am annoyed with, such as pictures on the right page with their annotated message in the following left page. But as it is, I'm just glad this is done.
Special thanks to SGM Herbert A. Friedman (Ret.) for compiling this information that astonished me to create this bookbind.

Just had a thought:
It would be so funny if in District 7 it's forbidden for the citizens to read books that aren't approved by the Capitol, but Treech regularly breaks into the peacekeeper barracks and warehouses to steal their food. When he's in the barracks during times the peacekeeper barracks, he'll sometimes steal books from the peacekeepers he extra dislikes and read them, then return them to the spot he took them from but just slightly differently placed. Like- four inches to the left or turned by ten degrees or something. Small enough everyone else is like "no it's the exact same as before wdym someone touched it?" but just enough for that peacekeeper to notice.
Then, when he runs into those peacekeepers and they bother him for whatever reason, he'll quote the books he read at them. He does it subtly so that it doesn't sound out of place or weird, but it's a direct, complete quote and the peacekeeper in question recognizes it. Since they know their book was placed differently they know Treech read the book but they can't prove it so they can't do anything about it and it drives them fucking insane
Bonus: he bonds with Capitol citizens over those books and brings some banger analysis to the table, proving the districts' intellect and there's a book club that's so invested in nerding out with him more that they single-handedly get the games abolished

The basic structure of an American psyop is cobbled together out of advertising techniques, pop psychology, and pulp fiction tropes... the military spent the early years of the 20th century figuring out how to craft messages that can hurt, demoralize, and distract you.

The older I get the more power I realise I have when there is a Zoomer word I don't like and think is dumb;
Just start saying it and using it slightly incorrectly. The way you pronounce it in a sentence is key. The more cringe you can apply to it the better.
Then start doing that frequently, preferably out loud.
Watch that word die in real time.
