One of the things I like about Longlegs (2024) is how they let the main protagonist be so openly autistic without any of the characters treating her differently or mentioning anything about her being autistic. They just let her be herself and they accept her as who she is. The film is not trying to shove the message down the audience’s throats that autistic people can live normally among society without being treated as “babies” or seen as “outcasts”, but the message is still so naturally there throughout the film and it’s so beautiful and refreshing to see. Mad respect to everybody involving in this.
This is how you make a good representation.

“Longlegs didn’t even make me jump” maybe it’s because that was the point and what the film tried to achieve and they succeeded at that? tiktok people only know cliche horror movies that are cheap jumpscares and nothing more, they don’t even know what psychological horror is and think “lots of jumpscares with zero plots” = good horror movies.
don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with classic jumpscares here and there, but it’s just so funny how they said Longlegs was trash only because they only knew jumpscares and could not grasp the concept of ‘slow-built dread and anxiety’.
it’s cool and all if you don’t like Longlegs or if it disappointed you, you’re entitled to your opinion. it’s cool and all if you prefer jumpscares to psychological horror. but it’s funny if you said Longlegs was trash just because you expected it to be full of jumpscares and were proven wrong.
