5 Rock Operas that Have Become Classics for Decades to Come.
Tumblr media
A rock opera is a musical and scenic work where the plot of the opera is revealed in arias performed by many vocalists in roles. Critics compare such works, whose purpose is to evoke a sense of musical drama, with musicals. Simply put, it's more than just a touching album or a well–thought-out performance. A rock opera is a kind of musical picture or book that tells a deep story, evokes strong feelings and emotions in the listener and leaves a bright mark in the minds of the audience...
Jesus Christ Superstar
Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice created this masterpiece in the heyday of the 70s. As a result, the work became a vivid embodiment of its era and its genre.
youtube
This opera tells about the life of Christ (based on the canonical Gospels) from his arrival in Jerusalem to his death by crucifixion. The opera focuses a lot on Judas and his relationship with Christ.
youtube
Originally released as an album, the opera gradually moved to cinema and Broadway, where it was a great success. Many musicians from different countries have staged and, in fact, continue to stage this production in their own interpretation!
Tumblr media
Operation: Mindcrime
The third album by American rockers Queensrãche is often called a breakthrough: for the sake of this work, the guys made a giant leap from the usual meaningless lyrics to truly deep and meaningful ones.
Tumblr media
Queensrÿche
"Operation: Mental Crime" is a story about a dependent man who joins an organization planning the extermination of fraudulent leaders. The band added a hackneyed but such a beautiful love story to balance out the dark aspects, which were not well received by all fans.
youtube
The album also features a large orchestra led by a Hollywood composer. Michael Kamen, who made this story really big and memorable.
Tumblr media
Tommy
It would be simply unforgivable not to mention this rock opera! One of the most, if not the most outstanding work The Who. Inspired by the teachings of Meher Baba and released in 1969, the British rock band's fourth studio album made a stir – in a good way.
Tumblr media
The Who, rock opera "Tommy"
"Tommy" is a cruel and touching story about a boy who was blind, deaf and dumb from a young age... Oddly enough, Tommy has a fantastic talent for playing pinball, and soon he becomes an international icon! Alas, our hero plummets from his pedestal, because his followers rebelled against him.
youtube
In 1975, a film based on the opera was released, which received lukewarm reviews. However Ann-Margret, who played Tommy's mother, received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.
Tumblr media
The Wall
Tumblr media
A shot from the Pink Floyd show "The Wall"
As pathetic as it may sound, Pink Floyd's iconic "Wall" is a work that definitely needs no introduction. This is a classic for the ages. A masterpiece that has no equal. A work that had a tremendous impact on rock, on followers, on the very concept of rock opera... Needless to say, this is one of the best-selling albums of all time?
youtube
In fact, "The Wall" is a psychological journey through the mind and memories Roger Waters, telling about the trials and tribulations on the way to a dream, a musical career and personal happiness. The "wall" focused on the main character Pink represents a dark, confusing haze of pain, suffering and obsession. This epic has spawned a cinematic equivalent as exciting and stunning as the album itself. The Wall helped end the rock era of the 70s and became an important part of the progressive rock movement. The complex guitar playing, melancholic lyrics and depressive atmosphere had a great impact on hundreds of artists.
Tumblr media
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
Tumblr media
David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust
And finally, a pearl that fans owe to a brilliant mind and a subtle perception of the world David Bowie...
youtube
This album is about the Martian Ziggy Stardust, who comes to Earth to free all people from their stupidity and predictability. Ziggy is an idealistic rock star: wild and dissolute, but still carrying a message of peace and love. His own irresponsibility, excessive consumption and excessive fascination with inferior pleasures destroy him. In many previous albums, David Bowie was attracted to science fiction themes, but it was in this that he gave his all!

"MACHINE IS CLEAN, SO SWEET AND MEAN…"
NOTE: I'm watching "The Bikeriders" later today, so, I thought I'd post these on "Motörhead Monday." These are for you, Lem'. Ride on, you legend, ride on.
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on a photo-shoot of MOTÖRHEAD's Lemmy Kilmister in France, c. 1979. Lemmy reportedly never owned a motorbike, but borrowed THE STRANGLERS' Jean-Jacques Burnel's Triumph 75 Bonneville for these shots. 📸: Bruno Bloom.
^Even Lemmy knew how dangerous motorcycles were (in a world filled to death with cars, that is), which is probably why he never owned one, and thank fuck because we needed him alive decades later to keep the flame of Motörmusic alive and speeding.

Arteaga – NEON ACIDO (English And Español) (2023)
Tumblr media
Mack of Fuzztlán takes a look at NEON ACIDO, the new album from Chilean occult stoner doom band Arteaga, released August 31st on Interstellar Smoke Records.
It’s a masterful work in six tracks, a unique journey in each one of them that makes It impossible not to be transported back to the seventies with the style that they have managed to achieve in such a magnificent way; a classic, vintage sound, riffs and a seventies rhythm to the max, all as if it were recorded in a still life thanks to this effect of reverberation and remoteness that is acquired, it even has a phantasmagoric air, a sound from beyond the physical.

#Everything you need to know about rock📌
Legends of rock. How they looked then and how they look now. (Part 1)
It never occurred to me to wonder what rock is. As long as I can remember, I have known that this is high-quality music that I am interested in listening to.
It is clear that time is running forward and yesterday's rock heroes are gradually fading into the past.
So let's take a look at what yesterday's rebels look like today. Well, let's start with a guy like
Mick Jagger
Tumblr media
Naturally, when I heard him, he was already far from a boy. But here's what's amazing. He is still in business and can give a head start to many young performers. A true representative of the old school. And if I say that people like him are not being made today, I'm sure I won't be mistaken. Man is a walking epoch. And that's how he was in 1969. It's hard to believe, but half a century has passed since then.
youtube
Another representative of the generation that is gradually fading into the past. Meet this
Iggy Pop
Tumblr media
The inventor of punk rock, jumping into the crowd, the personification of rebellion and uncompromising music. Paradoxically, he was predicted to die back in the 70s. Many of those who promised him this are no longer on this planet, but he is still on stage and singing his restless songs.
I wonder if back in the dashing 60s and 70s this young guy imagined that he would eventually be called a legend? What's with the legend? He is now called nothing but the godfather of punk rock. The funny thing is, if you listen carefully to his discography, you can reveal that he played punk rock exclusively at the beginning of his career. And so, for half a century, he has done everything. A very, very diverse person. What is actually good and for which, in general, we love.
youtube
Sex Pistols
Tumblr media
John Lydon
John Lydon. The chameleon man from rock music.
John Lydon entered the history of world music under his nickname Rotten. And thousands of people around the world still associate him with his first band, which made him famous.
The history of the Sex Pistols ensemble is short, but at the same time stunningly vivid. Bursting into the music world, as if out of nowhere, and making a lot of noise there, the band quickly broke up. And many people perceived, and still perceive that success as some kind of ridiculous accident.
Although if you pick at the history, it becomes obvious that the success was not accidental at all. After all, without the producer, millions of people around the world would not have known about them. And it was Malcolm McLaren who was behind the group's meteoric rise.
youtube
Tumblr media
Look what a darling he was in the 70s. A charming young man. However, it was unbearable to communicate with him at that time, according to the memories of others. Well, that's why he's rock'n'roll. After all, the man did not work at the Institute of noble maidens.
youtube
Robert Plant
Tumblr media
Managed to keep his curls, but his voice still sank. Although it would be strange if it turned out otherwise. Time is a merciless thing. And youth passes quite quickly. Nevertheless, this grandfather is still holding on.
But not so long ago he was young, fresh and full of energy. Cool man. I wish I could say that he needs to take care of himself. But how can you save yourself? A person is not a pack of dumplings that can be put in the freezer. And anyway, he's rock'n'roll to live to the fullest.
youtube
Here is the same
Paul McCartney,
Tumblr media
but the 1968 model. At that time, he and the band where he played were more popular than Christ. The statement is controversial, but valid.
Paul McCartney is probably one of the most famous musicians on the planet.

Did you recognize this gentleman?
To be continued....

ETERNAL SPOKESMAN FOR THE SUPER-SEVENTIES DOOMED GENERATION.
PIC INFO: Spotlight on pioneering American heavy rock/DOOM metal frontman, Bobby Liebling, vocalist lyricist for heavy metal band, PENTAGRAM, c. early to mid '70s, USA.
"Some people thinkI'm an advocate of Lucifer, And some say I'm a child of God -- yes they do, Some people think I've got the nine lives of a cat, And others say I'm filthy as a dog, So you be forewarned, I'm coming after you, About the time I catch up to you, I'll never, No I'll never, I'll never let you go -- alright!"
