Was reading your reply to the ask about getting a cat from a breeder, what would you say are the benefits of kittens from breeders versus cats from shelters?

breeders can give you something highly specific in terms of shedding, allergen level, size and temperament.

if you need a cat to be a certain way, and can't take chances, a breeder might be the better option. if you just want a cat, and you're happy to accommodate however they might turn out, go to a shelter.

honestly, even if you want a beautiful, unusual looking cat, shelters can cover that! just look at Lilly in Toronto. she's a silver torbie with big yellow eyes, and wandered into someone's yard from an industrial area.
