The thing I love most about kid-friendly horror is that it repeatedly demonstrates that you don't need an R or TV-MA rating to be disturbing or terrifying.

A lot of the time, horror media that's adult-orientated tends to rely too much on the usual tricks and tropes that make the audience squirm, especially violence and gore.

So because kid-friendly horror can't use wanton brutality, it has to find other ways of eliciting fear without eliciting the wrath of censors, and this leads to some very creative and imaginative ways of doing so!

It's as the old saying goes, limitation breeds creativity!

Just finished watching the haunting of bly manor and oh my god that ending made me cry! Ahhhh I loved it so much. Bits and pieces of it could have been better but god that ending! Perfect sad ending.

midnight mass, midnight club, haunting of Hill house, haunting of Bly manor, fall of the house of usher, and all the other Netflix horror shows that recycle the same actors for every show are SO MUCH BETTER THAN ALL THE AMERICAN HORROR STORIES COMBINED I SAID WHAT I SAID

forget plot, acting, special effects, literally all I care about in a horror movie is ~vibes~. like as long as the ambiance is good I’m sat for it

I love Walter and Misty together but IF he has to die I want it to be by accidental electrocution so that we get a nice parallel to Mikey in The Ice Storm and have Christina Ricci's and Elijah Wood's crazy boytoy romance once again end in a particulary - ahem - shocking way
