Blitzøs entire life spent being unwanted. So he adapted, and learned how to be something needed, something to be used.
Which is why I think he firmly believes he is being used by Stolas. He simply cannot fathom a different reality, one in which he is wanted for once in his life.

Tumblr media
Ozzie wasn't there at the competition. when Fizz runs off and panics in his dressing room, he doesn't text or call Ozzie (he's too busy panicking).
then Ozzie suddenly shows up at the door. he couldn't have known what was going on, himself.
Tumblr media
Blitz called Ozzie.
all day, Blitz had been trying to convince Fizz of his worth, so when he realized he wasn't going to get through to him and saw Fizz spiraling toward an unstoppable total breakdown, he immediately reached out to the only other person he knew could help. Blitz didn't just give up because he couldn't fix the situation by himself.
Ozzie was right. Blitz really was the next best thing.

anyhow i just love these two besties and their character arc, that is all. <3

Blitz really can't stand knowing he hurt someone he cares about. I'm not just talking about the fire, either.
We all know that he immediately tried to apologize once he realized he'd genuinely hurt Stolas at the end of Full Moon, though he was portaled out before he could finish the words.
But even in Truth Seekers, when the truth serum caused him to tell Moxxie he had shitty taste in music, he IMMEDIATELY apologized, like as soon as the words were out of his mouth, and even started CRYING while lamenting about having hurt Moxxie and lied to him a lot.
Idk I just think it's important to point out that underneath all the trauma, Blitz is a big ole softy who can't stand knowing he's hurt the feelings of people he cares about.

Imagine if in season three of helluva boss Stolas is properly working at I.M.P and he’s leaning against Blitzø’s desk (during a break) and they’re flirting with each other and a client walks in right as they were about to lean in to kiss each other and then Stolas excuses himself to go back to work and then the client says something like: “he’s a real piece of eye candy isn’t he?” And Blitzø then says: “yeah. My eyes only. Back off.” And he’s like super jealous and moody until the client leaves.

My new desktop wallpaper because of greatest line EVER in the history of the show reasons.
Reminds me of THIS scene from A L I E N S:
Tumblr media
Just thought I'd share that, from one greatest line in my favorite horror movie to another greatest line in my favorite YouTube show.

Oh, the fact protective symbols are real is going to have massive implications later, isn't it? O_O
*The fact that it's an upright pentagram makes me wonder if having that over the sky of Pentagram City acts as a seal for Hell to keep anyone from physically leaving unless by magic portal. :/

smthin about blitzø's romantic relationships defined by him as bodyguard, with fizz, with verosika, and with stolas. something about that being a part of his core, either as a negative (it's all about putting his body in front of theirs because he's the "less important" factor and it's the only real thing he feels has to offer alongside sex) or as a positive (he likes protecting others, he likes being of use, it's a good way of communicating how much he cares and he's good at it)
but yeah, that forming part of the foundations of those relationships from his side

You know what I love about this show so much?
The kindness. The understanding. The redemption.
And that's in the setting of fucking Hell. The irony.
The characters are deeply flawed. They make a lot of mistakes. They fuck up even trying to fix things.
But they are trying. They have a lot of virtues, too, even though they don't see them themselves. They slowly but surely process their problems. They work around their trauma and the conditions they were raised in, deeply affected by it, hurting but still powering through, learning, and developing.
Although we are far from the end of these characters' journey, the SpindleHorse team does an amazing job of making these characters sympathetic, believable, and real. They give you the information and the opportunity to understand how complicated things are, how both sides of the conflict can be understood and blamed at the same time.
And the main thing? The forgiveness and redemption. You want these characters to do better, to be better, of course. But you also want them to be loved, despite the fact that what they did was obviously wrong.
You, as the viewer, already forgive them, and you just want them to forgive themselves. To allow themselves to be loved.
When I watched the show and saw them making the same mistakes I did, some horrible things I wouldn’t forgive myself for and struggled with for years, I suddenly understood the struggle. I empathized with them. I wanted to give them a hug. I wanted to comfort them and promise that things would get better and encourage them to give it one more try, one more talk. I wanted to scold them for self-loathing because I know all too well the kinds of dark places it can lead you to sometimes.
And then the thought comes to mind, "Can I afford a bit of this empathy for myself too? Just allow myself to live with the fuckup and allow myself to be human?"
It didn't fix me. But it eased my turmoil and taught me to understand it better. It taught me some empathy, too, and I thought I was the one with the emotional ingelligence of a nightstand. Well, I still kinda am, but at least I learned to listen to people sometimes.
I just want to thank the whole team who worked on Helluva Boss for all the self-reflections I experienced with their creation.
Thank you.
