which of your fantrolls are derse and which are prospit. and do you believe there's a meaningful divide?

these guys inherited their dream moons pretty straightforwardly from the characters they were inspired by.

dream moon feels kind of like the most astrology esque of all of homestuck's astrology type systems LOL in that basically all of the characters inherited them based on totally arbitrary circumstance (same moon as the rest of my family members, same moon as the rest of the players who wanted to join team vriska / team equius, etc.) and the comic never once seems to try to explain it in any deeper terms than that. so any analysis of what they might mean is just trying to find patterns in disparate personalities. (i guess dream moon being significant is a real thing now that it's included in the official aspect test but i'm not even going to bother looking those up because i don't really care that much. lol)

there are some interpretations i've found interesting.. like prospit dreamers playing active roles and being protagonists while derse dreamers are behind the scenes actors and backgrounders is so obviously true but it also seems so redundantly similar to active + passive classes. and the one about prospit dreamers being upfront with their personalities and derse dreamers hiding behind a mask is fun for explaining oddities like dersite nepeta but falls apart for other characters.

so i've never once thought about what moon "fits" a character before deciding where they go, i 100% always just sort them towards the beginning of the design process and then soooometimes when i develop a character further i will take their lunar sway into account and think about how it might contribute to their personality or arc. but it's usually a more personalised thing, like, what does being on prospit or on derse mean to that character in particular.. so i wouldn't say i think of there being a "divide" between the two. their significances can vary. while being a derse dreamer obviously doesn't MAKE you a villain for instance it's easy to justify why a villain might belong on derse and a dersite villain might be very different to a prospitian villain. <- thinking about it harder right now than i probably ever have before in my life

the sbahj canon diverges. so many sbahj in-jokes exclusive to the prospitian ship. unfortunately the retcon make it so none of this ever happens :(

he’d never say it but davesprite likes it when john and jade fall asleep on him doing whatever, it makes his presence feel wanted and appreciated by the people he sacrificed his self and humanhood for good for. sorry for immediately going into davesprite but good god is he tragic. oh yeah heres more. he’s still part dave and shares the same history with john and jade that alpha timeline dave does. john gave him his shades on his 13th birthday in december 2008, he sent john the con air bunny and jade a physical copy of sbahj as furries in the mail. he is identical to alpha dave in relation to his friends before the timeline splits off. dont forget that 4/13/2009 was also his first time meeting his online friends john and jade in person, even after 4 months chronologically of sburb grinding—nearly a year with all the time shenanigans—and going back to day 1, since john and jade were dead in his timeline

my roster of carapacian languages (etc.) is ever-expanding and getting more complicated by the minute. i've now cornered 'hand-speak' (a sort of tactile hand language) into it being specifically a dersite language. possibly a constructed one! and while spoken dersite and prospitian are mutually intelligible, their WRITTEN forms are Entirely different. Prospit may or may not have more than one writing system. fun!

i like to imagine they connect like that, just a small detail. its nice and really depressing, they turned out very differently.

though yes jades isolation is a bit more important (plot wise-ish) than karkats, but its still a very interesting parallel

i mean for karkat it was probably a nightmare, not being able to connect with anybody physically for years and just having to deal with yourself and just... with self loathing a part of it? yeah probably really lonely. though karkats life pre-sgrub is a bit more vague than jades, its kind of obvious that he didnt have any physical interactions (other than crabdad) due to the fact that he needed to be protected by well, alternias whole.. everything system. i think about karkats life pre-sgrub a lot, actually

and jade? loneliest girl on earth. she didnt really have anybody (except for her grandpa but .. You know. Dead. taxidermized. or after she was a toddler. i say 2 years old) and she was left on prospit wondering and the only time she was with another person was with a sleeping john in the other tower. and all the prospitians. but that was her main physical interactions (were not using bec because .. Dog. woof bark woof bark)

now i know this is more of a fully canon analysis. but i do want to give my opinions on how it would effect them after the game

using the fact in the credits that they do live together (with d*ve. why am i even censoring his name? because its funny) i think they would prefer to be close to each other. for karkat its more of the fact that i think he still would feel a bit sorry (not in the sense that he didnt feel all that sorry during the game when he was harassing jade, but i mean that the feeling still lingers from time to time) and would try to just stay near her to make sure shes alright

and jade would be near karkat because of the fact of their relationship during the game. i feel like after she did forgive him during the game she did get more curious. like the reactions he had with the passwords. probably just wanting to have someone around that was talking to her for so long and was bothering her while she was still alone, just the concept of someone who was bullying you for maybe.. MONTHS (i.e "CG: HI AGAIN, IDIOT.") (emphasis on again) .. YEARS?? (or on her part) is just.. near you. physically. it brings an awkwardness between them. from how they were isolated and bothering each other and now just... together ??? physically?? it probably is so strange to them . strange to me mostly but it is a strange concept in itself

-Carapacians are most akin to terrestrial crustaceans

-Dersite bones are white and Prospitian bones are black. Same thing with their flesh under their carapace

-Caraps have crazy stomach acid and an insane digestive system to the point where they can digest certain types of metals and inorganic things including but not limited to: Tin foil, plastic, fabric, and batteries. They can also digest bones

-Carapacians have an extremely high bite force outclassing Humans, Trolls, and most Leprechauns but not Cherubs.

-Carapacians like trolls and drones tend to get really attached to certain things or concepts

-CARAPACIANS HAVE CLASSPECTS TOO!!!Every living thing has a classpect even ones generated by sburb, that includes caraps!!

-Carapacians sort of have a molting process like trolls, where when they're at their final stage of growth they molt and shed their old carapace, it's kinda uncomfortable and looks scary to anyone who doesn't know what's happening. This always happens to growing carapacians but can also happen if a carapacian gains weight/ builds more muscle. It's best to give your friend some space after this happens since it's a tiring process

-Carapacians are amazing at adapting and depending on their environment will grow certain features to help them. Like for example a Carapacian in a cold climate will start to grow a thicker shell

-Like Leprechauns and Trolls their nostrils aren't usually visible and are very thin, only visible under certain conditions(kinda like a Meowth situation lol)

-Caraps have nictitating eyelids! It protects them from extreme conditions

so i was talking about "blood moons" in a homestuck related discord server, long story short i need to be stopped.

FYI the classpects were chosen at complete random, this isn't a fan session, just some placeholders.

---------- FYI no the Players are not decapitated, it's just to show they're split in two. Each half still has a full body.

---------- Sandbox Mode is a bonus rule, as i was not sure wether to include it or not in the system. Can be ignored at the discretion of whoever even ends up using my system.

---------- Twin Mode is also a bonus rule. Again, only works if you want it to work.

---------- Twin Sandbox Mode. Yada yada bonus rule, only applied if both Twin and Sandbox are active (duh). Still not mandatory to use, you get the idea.

---------- So far i think the godtier process simply requires for the two halves of a Player to fuse together. Another idea would be having to reach one of the two moons, maybe even giving the choice to the Player, but a Player can only godtier with a full Classpect (i see y'all trying to make a half dersite half prospitian player. that's probably the equivalent of Caliborn breaking his clock hand.)

the "oh fuck new idea" from page 3 is Chaos Mode, but i don't know yet how to make rules for it (i've had the idea for like 2min chill) so either i'll do it later or forget about it forever, who knows?

OH BOY is it a DOOZY

so here's the thing about the spy au. because almost everyone has a secret identity it turns what might've been a love triangle or love trapezoid into a love dohexahedra. to give a very simple summary

DR ROSE-NOELLE (formerly Rose Lalonde, secretly Agent Cestus) is currently infiltrating the prestigious Prospitian Yellow Yard private school system, where she meets LADY FISHER (secretly Feferi, the runaway new ruler of Derse), a well-established Prospitian socialite who appears to have dirt and some vendetta against Crocker, leading to Rose deciding to seduce her, which leads to Unintended Feelings but--

OH NO! Rose is ALSO crushing on the cute tailor up the street, Kanaya Maryam! But alas, it's a crush she must let go of, since Kanaya is a Civilian (she isn't) and also holding Amorous Affection toward the offputting local librarian, Ms Vriska! And they're starting to date! Thankfully, she can take her mind off of it by trying to keep her newest mission alive, but alas! That also leads to Unexpected Feelings! How was she supposed to know that Agent Arachnid (secretly Vriska) could be strangely charming in a bitey, pathetic way while she's trying not to die by the Prospitian bounty hunter Auxiliatrix's (secretly Kanaya's) hand! And then Agent Cestus (Rose) has to contend with the fact that these may be the beginning sparks of Jealousy, seeing how Agent Arachnid and Auxiliatrix dance around each other, as if Arachnid doesn't want the game to end just yet...

Meanwhile Auxiliatrix wants desperately to just kill this fool Agent Arachnid because she's been so sleep deprived during her dates with her darling Vriska during the day! But then Agent Cestus appears to make things even harder, but Auxiliatrix can't help but find her strangely alluring... an intellectual equal...... it reminds her of the old flame who gave her the mission in the first place........ an old flame which seems on the verge of rekindling as Agent Gallows (secretly Terezi) becomes more and more vulnerable about her previous relationship with the rogue Agent Arachnid! But every time Kanaya feels she's getting close, Agent Gallows pulls away

and Terezi makes at least a cursory glance at trying to make Karkat fall in love with her, but that ship's long since sailed, and even if they were together, there's no way he'd ever give up the true identities of all of his contacts. Shame! Well, at least there's this cute comic artist/mail girl who comes around, who even indulges Terezi whenever she wants to do roleplay! Nepeta's sweet, lovable, and a Civilian (she's not)- so maybe some normalcy is what Terezi's thinking she craves... meanwhile Nepeta (secretly Dersite Agent Arsenic) sees Terezi flirting and becomes conflicted... because she's been exchanging letters with Agent Gallows of the Prospitian side for a while now, even outsie of the work correspondence, and she thinks she might be in love with her! But oh no! Does she also like Terezi.....??

But she doesn't have time to dwell on it, because Equius (alias Charon, the Dersite death machine builder) is falling in love, and the poor dude needs all the help he can get! His feelings for that weirdo arms dealer Mr. Angelo (secretly Eridan, Feferi's right hand) still confuses the hell out of her, but there seems to be some more tension that he isn't saying.... And Charon, looking over the perfectly edited autopsy reports he's received from the ghostly mortician A, able to even determine the cause of a robot's demise, sends his heart aflutter.... and besides, Mr. Angelo is a civilian, and a higher-ranking one at that... and the telegrams from Eridan Ampora have been really getting under his skin, making it so hard to have time alone!

Mr. Angelo meanwhile sees Dr Rose-Noelle as his rival in love to Lady Fisher, until he starts suspecting that she might ACTUALLY be Feferi, but he doesn't want to Outright Accuse because the consequences of getting it wrong are politically pretty fucking dire, so as his investigation shifts his amorous affections begin to shift toward Dr. Rose-Noelle... which is a fantastic distraction, since Agent Cestus has been a Right Pain in his ass, not getting Agent Arachnid out of Auxiliatrix's way fast enough for his tastes.......

and that's not even getting into TurnTech (secretly Dave) falling for Dr. Harley (secretly Jade) while Jade pines after Dr Rose-Noelle, and Dave also falling for John, who's secret identity is a comedian and therefore does not enter the equation.

It ALSO doesn't even start to get into TA (secretly Sollux) and Pastor's (gee Sollux, why do you get two secret identities) mobius double poly reacharound between Lady Fisher, Mr. Angelo, Aradia, Mortician A, and the heiress Feferi or Tavros crushing on the librarian Vriska while Agent Arachnid had a little fling with the informant Toreados or also like multiple people having a crush on Karkat at some point. this is just everything i could get down before i ran out of steam ghbjkjn

No wonder Sollux’s brain was overwhelmed - he’s been getting Skaian clouds and Horrorterror whispers. The fact that it’s even possible to have three bodies causes me to question a lot of my assumptions about this system. 

If Sollux’s realself was still alive, would he be able to dream on a different Moon each time he slept, or even both moons at once? Dave was awake in both of his bodies, so it’s conceivable that a fully awakened Sollux could control all three of his selves at once. 

It looks like Prospit dreamers were assigned to the Red Team, and Derse dreamers (plus Sollux) were assigned to the Blue Team. Does this mean that Sollux’s ‘true’ dream affiliation is to Derse?

Eridan is dreaming on Derse, he just hasn’t run into Sollux yet. Captor is a land-dweller, so maybe he’s avoiding the guy. 

Without Feferi, Aradia’s dream self died with her. It can be assumed that she dreamt on Derse, but Sollux is evidence that the Team rule isn’t absolute, so we don’t know for sure.

state of the Medium at the tail-end of the Long Wait

Derse

the Dersite royals got assassinated millenia ago, and the scattered habitats along the outer edge of the incipisphere (constructed of raw material both of deconstructed Derse and the asteroid belt of the Veil) are currently ruled by a couple dozen squabbling gangs and clans and cults in perpetual low-stakes war over resources and habitats (and a third thing ill come to later); they do however tend to mostly temporarily band together any time there's a threat from the the system's center

the mostly still intact but much changed moon with its 3 dreaming gods are a kind of collective holy site for many of the most important veil-cults, and is both untouchable as a holy site and a place of fierce competition (including a few cults who want to kill the dreamers to prevent the session from ever happening)

Prospit

the Prospitian king got assassinated by a Dersite from the Battlefield relatively early in the Wait, while the queen is legally still, though functionally comatose and kept alive only by means of jerry-rigged poorly understood technology copied and looted from the old asteroid belt; the actual ruling now happens via a complex bureaucracy of priest-engineers (the Phyllobatic Order) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_poison_frog)

notably the "royal" palace/temple complex is not located on Prosit proper anymore, instead being "relocated to" its moon, or rather it would be more accurate to say the moon *is* the palace at this point; the base of each Dreamer's tower seen as the most hallowed of places under Skaia's light (and each is guarded by a promising neophyte Phyllobate assigned Guardian of the door, a most honourable position);

Prospit itself is significantly bigger than at the start of the Wait, and between it and the detached moon orbit a host of other infrastructural projects of both civilian and military nature, and the entire orbital path of Prospit is strewn with habitat-cities and arcologies all the way around

The Battlefield

with no prototyping happening, the Battlefield remains a giant centerpiece of eternal stalemate; except of course the amount of players has increased, and the stakes have changed; because after the exhaustion of the asteroids of the Veil, the Battlefield is pretty much the only place in the Medium with unexploited raw resources

which brings us to the main tension between the city-ring of Prospit and the Gang-councils of the Veil; Prospit has the Battlefield seemingly locked down, but they're not actually in the advantage

and the reason is

Carapacian Biological Peculiarities

carapacians have no method of independent reproduction; they're *made*, ectobiologically, in the labs of the Meteor Veil

and that's the 3rd thing: means of reproduction; the Dersite Veil-habitats naturally have the vast majority of ectobiological equipment at their disposal

now, carapcians don't actually *age* like most species do either of course, but they do wear down, the have accidents, they can get sick (and as time and chance goes on, the amount of new sicknesses which had the opportunity to evolve has been increasing!), and so they do in fact still die

so without ectobiological equipment, no amount of raw resources will help in the long run

so while the Veil-Dersites tend to mostly focus on resource-extraction from the inner system for further expansion of their territory (as in, number of habitats and industry), the Prospitians fight mostly to acquire irreplicable ecto-tech from the Veil-Dersites, who in turn squabble over it between themselves, while everywhere various priest-engineers try and fail and try again to find a way to reverse-engineer the holy machines that birthed every single one of them (and the poor sods living on (or these days mostly beneath in subterranean cities of perpetual refugees on account of their usual complete lack of ecto-tech) the Battlefield just take the brunt of it, as usual)

hope this one could be a fun land idea request for the mods.

i have a prospitian prince of doom. their life is not an easy one, as someone who grew up without a family or any support system. however, they try their best to be positive, ghosting their opposite aspect in the silly way teenagers usually do. by acting like action movie protagonists. they're still influenced by their aspect tho, even in small things like their interest in apocalyptic scenarios and how to prepare for it, and preservation of fine art and renaissance sculptures. their land would probably be traumatic for them. filled with things they find beautiful and signs that the consorts have already loved them the way the prince have dreamed about all along even though they never met, but it was all ruined.

A fun foundation for a land you've made here indeed. At the cost of a tortured Player, but alas. What's that saying? Can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.

That metaphor would work a lot better if you had a Prince of Life. Oh well.

Speaking of, the components of your Prince of Doom. A Destroyer of and with Fate, Ill-fortune and literal Doom, dreaming on the moon of defense. Quite the powerful little bugger! Let's hope they can keep their sanity about them - otherwise they might prove to be a mighty obstacle for their team.

I can see your Prince on the Land of Remnants and Dunes. A quite sullen planet, its consorts have long since died out in futile wait for their hero. The harsh winds whip sand back and forth in evershifting deserts and barren wastes, littered with salt deposits and fossils where there once was ocean.

Among the half broken temples and emptied villages the Prince can find statues, some better preserved than others, all referring to a great hero - a figure of legend prophecised to save them from doom.

The depictions have very little in common with the actual appearance of the Prince of course, the lizards inhabiting this planet had no idea what humans (or trolls) look like, but the sentiment is clear. These people needed the Prince, and they weren't there.

Beneath it all sleeps Hel. The planet's even-tempered denizen, she is neither dead nor alive, just like LORAD itself. The Prince's quest would likely have to do with bringing back the glory of their planet, and therefore so would their Choice.

What that Choice would be is up to you, but there are quite a few directions you can take the Prince's development from here, so I think you won't be pressed for ideas.

oh gladly :3

first of all i think their main “language” is a bunch of purrs, trills, clicks, hisses, etc. this is the language they know innately but once they’re cloned at the start of a session their dna is updated to include the language(s) spoken by the players

second i think they’re infertile during the game / battle on skaia, but during exile their reproductive systems kick in so they’re able to repopulate the abandoned planet. related: caraps have both testes and uteri. i won’t go into more detail bc nsfw

also i think they molt! since they have shells they just. routinely have segments of their shells come lose over time. as opposed to humans constantly shedding dead skin (gross). this means injuries like scratches / grooves / etc do disappear eventually! and also it’d be cool if there was a purpose for the cast off shells.

those are the hcs i stick with pretty much all the time no exception. “just for fun” hcs are like… carapacian shells having undertones that non-carapacians don’t see, so to a human all dersites look black but dersite 1 could be a purple black while dersite 2 is a green black. or dersites bleaching with more sunlight and prospitians darkening with less of it. i also like the idea of them regrowing teeth like sharks but you could say it’s technically disproven by the existence of lord jack’s gold tooth

i tried to grab a couple pictures from my camera roll but there is so much homestuck in my camera roll that i couldnt pick just ten to fit tumblrs photo limit lol umm to put it simply yes i. like. homestuck. totally hasnt been the backbone of my entire life since 2015 and influenced every action or choice ive made since then. totally hasnt been the defining media of the most sensitive parts of my formative years. totally didnt have an entire maladaptive daydreaming world surrounding homestuck characters that pulled me out of reality so much that i literally did not learn certain developmental skills correctly and now i have a mental disorder because of it. totally did not spend multiple thousands of dollars on homestuck cosplays homestuck merch art supplies to draw homestuck etc totally did not take one look at terezi and be like “that is me i am that character there is no difference between the two of us” totally did not use the classpect system as a form of literal psychology for like five years (btw im a prospitian blueblood seer of heart) totally did not go to every single con without skipping a dedicated homestuck cosplay day

Charcherry Weekly - Issue 131

Hello everyone, Mage of Light Nick Card here! There was definitely a lot packed into one day! We got an entire week to cover though.

At the beginning of the week, Rogue of Heart Charles focused upon trying to repair the prospitian warship that he had attempted to use last week. This resulted in them somehow accidentally yeeting off at warp speed 4 into space. Because of this, Charles decided it would be a much better idea to use a speedboat instead.

On the day of the expedition, Charles spent a considerable amount of time getting the boat deployed and ready. Along with him, the available initial expedition team was comprised of Samus Kitten, Mage of Life Blaze, and your dear newsletter writer. We boarded via the newer transportalizer pad set up near the pokemon center in Unity Village and rode the waves for a long while. Eventually however some weird stuff started happening. The first notable thing was that our sylladexes were replaced with a different inventory system, known as the "ZGASCI". It is assumed that it stands for "Zero Grist Alchemy Setup Construction Interface", as that seems to describe how it operates. However, it is plainly clear that its more of an upgrade to the minecraft modus to give it breaking, crafting, and building capabilities, in addition to storage. I'm assuming that the "break" function (which can be activated by punching) converts an effected something into an abstracted cube form, which can be upgraded by equipping specialized tools that it is programmed to be compatible with. These details however were not recognized until later. Soon after the inventory change, a mysterious lazor attempted to slash the speedboat in half! Soon enough, the boat sank and we were left to navigate the waves towards the closest dry land. By sheer luck I managed to be equipped with the LEGG, though it could only activate swim assist mode. Eventually, we made it to dry land and soon found the mostly intact wreckage of the speedboat. All equipment was in place, but it was quite clear that the boat was not in any condition to be driven. Fortunately the healing machine still worked. Beginning to explore the land, it was clear that the pokemon population is quite high and varied, though largely unconfrontational (though there were still encounters from time to time). I used this opportunity to train Pory the porygon, using the old switch-out technique for safety. It was soon after this that the capabilities of the ZGASCI were dscovered. From then on, I let my minecraft instincts take over. It was rather unfortunate that there was only one pokeball I could find and that was one that Charles had found dropped by a voltorb. Predictably, it did not work and was broken after single attempt to use. A sustainable source of pokeballs has yet to be found here. While there, Samus established a base of sorts, though the low ceiling made standing up difficult. Eventually however, the transportalizer pad dried out enough for use and most of the party went back home. I opted to go mining and found a variety of rocks and minerals. I replaced the flooring and crafted a purple chair. Not long after, I retired for the time being and transportalized back home. I do wonder what other wonders that land has in store. Also, what to call it, as Charles keeps calling it "Greenland", despite the confusing nature of a familiar name of a landmass from earth. I propose calling it the Verdant continent, since that's a cooler way to say green without confusion.
