#prompt 14 legacy

Legacy is one of the major themes of KinnPorsche, and the show is brimming with examples. Physical legacies like the rings and the house, and so many psychological ones. Legacies of hate and love, of regret and trauma, of abuse, of honesty and deceit. 

We never get to meet papa T(though we get a pretty clear picture of what he was like), so that leaves Korn as the primary arbiter of legacy in the show. In one way or another, he directs almost all of it. And hey, it’s an outsider that wears a tattoo that says ‘there’s no legacy as rich as honesty’ because that sure as hell isn’t a Theerapanyakul motto. There are two specific legacies that I want to mention though. 

“Tragically, your worst enemies will always come from your own household.”

I’ve gushed before over the three sets of brothers and how they’ve defied the legacy of sibling hatred and harm that came before them when it would have been easy to do the opposite. I will always stan sibling love and I adore all three sets of relationships. But the rewatch made me actually delve more into that legacy. 

The first time I watched, I just assumed that Korn and Gun had always been in competition, always hated each other, and that was the legacy that got passed on to their sons, but I don’t think that’s true at all. I think at one time, Gun looked up to and admired his big brother. I think it was them and Nampheung against papa T... or at least Gun thought it was. Until the events at the Kittisiwasds house. 

When everything goes down, Gun isn’t angry, he’s in disbelief, he’s devastated by Korn’s actions, something that I don’t think would be true with the relationship we see between them now. Now, he knows his brother is a cold-hearted bastard. Tellingly, when he finds out Nampheung is alive, he is shocked back to the Gun he was then, not the cold, angry man he is most of the series. 

Korn crafted a new legacy that day, one of broken siblings, competition, distrust, and hatred between the main family and the minor one. And I think he did it deliberately to cover his ass. Who would ever believe a word that came out of the Gun we see against benevolent dictator Korn? Everything Gun said would look like jealousy. As long as Korn kept poking at Gun and the minor family with a stick, he never had to worry about any of them developing a relationship with his sons.

He never had to worry about Gun stumbling onto any information he shouldn’t about Nampheung, Porsche, and Chay. He never had to worry about any of his secrets coming out. Even Kinn didn’t really understand why his uncle hated his family... he thought it was a matter of money and power envy. And Korn wasn’t wrong. It barely took anything for Porsche and Vegas to stumble onto part of the truth, just a little communication.

The kind of communication that Korn spent years sowing distrust to prevent. (Porsche is sorry, not sorry to keep fucking up your shit, Korn.)

That means if you were to encounter the pressures these king snakes exert, your heart would fail to pump blood—that's how strong this is," 

Korn is a king snake. He holds on tight to everything he loves, and everything he hates with the same fervor, constricting until they can’t breathe, until their hearts can’t beat. His sons have learned this lesson well, flailing in his coils their whole lives. Khun is trapped in the house, with lots of toys and some playmates to keep him occupied. Kinn is trapped under the weight of family love and responsibility, and Kim is trapped on a barely visible leash, No matter how much freedom it seems he has, it’s still an illusion. It’s no surprise that they do their best to reject that legacy from Korn. They actively strive to be different from their father in the way that they handle relationships.

And Kim all let go. 

We know it’s not easy. They all try to be stoic about it, Khun playing it off like he's not hurt, not missing his baby brother and leaving first, Kinn and his stiff upper lip, waiting until Porsche is gone before kicking at the handcuffs, the symbol of them tied together and Kim who tries to stifle all emotion, holding it in until he can’t any longer. We see the heartbreak and regret but they still let go. They will wish and want and ask, but they won’t be their father, won’t tie someone in ways they can’t escape, won’t hold them with lies and manipulation, won’t smother the thing they love until there’s barely any life left.

  .... “you can’t sharpen a blade with silk” and I think about it often okay, because the great irony of Korn’s legacy is that in some ways, Kinn modeled himself after the man Korn pretends to be, not the man he actually is. Yes, he’s more impulsive and irreverent — gifts from his mother as he’s told us, but the kindness, the gentleness, the guy that cares about his people, like Pete said, that’s all from the mask Korn wears. 

Korn spent a lot of years moving pieces on the chessboard, only for everybody else to wind up playing another game entirely. His sons won’t be like him, and his nephews won’t be like the man helped create (Porsche, Porchay, and Pete are sorry, not sorry to fuck up your shit, Korn). He may get to write history, but he won’t get to write the future.

WoLyse Week 2024: Day 6 - Future

Lyse awoke to the sound of combat.

This wasn’t particularly unusual, given she was sleeping in her wife’s private quarters in the school. Training would-be adventurers in the ways of self-defence was the aim of those hallowed halls, after all. But two things about the clamour were. Firstly, the voice she could hear crying out in rage and frustration was unfamiliar to her. Lyse wasn’t familiar enough to put names to the faces of all of Arashi’s students, but she had learned to differentiate their voices. Arashi wasn’t looking to enrol anyone else, if her constant complaints about full hands were anything to go by.

Secondly, there was only one voice, but from the ring of steel against steel there were clearly two combatants. Meaning Arashi herself was locked in battle with an interloper.

Adrenaline spiked, panic gave speed. Lyse was moving before she could think. It took mere moments for the red-tinged blur to reach the source of the noise. Sure enough, Arashi was present. As was a large, lanky Raen boy, armed with a katana and screaming in fury. Trying desperately to find a way through Arashi’s guard. Failing.

Arashi had spoken before of her sister’s talent, of reaching a point beyond calm and becoming a force to be reckoned with by shutting out the world. Arashi herself claimed she had never been able to replicate it herself, but seeing her so easily dodging, deflecting and outmanoeuvring her opponent, Lyse wondered just how true that was. Arashi’s face was slack, void of emotion as she fought. But Lyse saw the glint in her eye before the killing blow was struck. The boy didn’t. In a flash of steel he was disarmed, the sword flung to the floor. In another flash he was defeated, a blade to his throat.

“That would be my win, I think.” Arashi’s voice was as calm and matter-of-fact as if she had been discussing the weather. The boy, breathing heavily, stared daggers at her. His great shaggy mane of snow-white hair was clinging to his scalp, drenched in sweat. But he had not a scratch on him. A test, then, not a true battle. Then Arashi turned to face Lyse with a smile. “Sorry if we woke you, dear.” The boy was forgotten for a moment. A moment was all he needed.

With a scream of rage he pounced forward, a knife suddenly in hand and poised to strike Arashi in her throat. He didn’t get that far.

[TRUE STRIKE]

Fist met face with a sickening crack. The boy was flung to one side. He clattered to the ground with a groan of pain. Lyse ignored the slight throb in her hand as she turned to ensure Arashi was unharmed. It was then that she realised just how close Arashi’s own blade was to Lyse’s face, where the boy’s knife had previously been. Of course she was preparing her own counter. So many summers of retirement from adventuring had done nothing to dull her skills, despite it all.

Arashi took a steadying breath, sheathed her sword, gave Lyse a thankful nod. Then she was striding over to the boy, who was currently rubbing his jaw in obvious pain. Lyse hoped she hadn’t broken anything. She’d tried to pull her punch, but she had a nasty habit of letting her emotions put a little too much strength into her strikes. Arashi held out a hand to the lad, clearly not particularly impressed with his trick but willing to put it aside. The boy hesitated for a moment, then took the hand.

Standing upright, he towered over both women with ease. But the look on his face was one of a scolded child, not a proud warrior. He looked rather young, perhaps seventeen or eighteen summers old. His skin was nigh as pale as his hair where it wasn’t covered in scales. He was rather skinny, but Lyse could see the corded muscles that he had clearly spent some time in building. But it was his eyes that drew Lyse’s attention. They were the same shade of blue that she saw when she first entered the Ruby Sea, all those years ago. Bright and electric and mesmerising. And… familiar, somehow. Like someone she’d seen in a dream, a long time ago. Strange.

“Not bad, but you were much too obvious.” Arashi’s voice cut through the air. Stern, appraising, her teaching voice she’d spent a long time mastering. “You’ve a long way to go. Now, why don’t we get an ice crystal for that jaw and you can tell me why you demanded this bout in the first place.” The boy grimaced at the assessment, but nodded and allowed himself to be led to the infirmary. Lyse followed close behind, not exactly trusting him not to try something again but willing at least to trust her wife’s judgement.

It wasn’t long before the three of them were seated in the empty infirmary. Lyse hadn’t taken her eyes off the interloper, aside from the occasional glance at Arashi. She had been filled in on the boy’s story so far, how he had apparently appeared in the Lochs aetheryte, promptly emptied the contents of his stomach, then demanded that the master of Storm’s School of Combat answered his challenge to a duel. He hadn’t shut up until someone had directed him towards the school itself, at which point he had nigh-sprinted to the doors and immediately challenged the first Raen woman he’d seen. Which, thankfully for him, was Arashi herself.

What Arashi had not been able to discern was the reason for his challenge in the first place. She had no idea who he was, nor did he give his name when asked. He was a tornado of mystery and anger, refusing all else but a duel with the fabled Warrior of Light. Now, however, it was time for answers.

“My name is Tenzin.” His voice was a low baritone, rough with exhaustion but still captivating. “I came to test myself against the strongest warrior in the land. I failed. I’m not strong enough yet.” Simple enough so far, but the pair could have figured that out themselves. He was clearly hiding something more. Strong enough for what?

Arashi said nothing, simply stared at Tenzin in silence. Lyse hadn’t missed the way her eyebrows raised when she heard the name, though. Lyse dimly recalled Arashi’s encounter with the Four Lords, of their shared grief over the legendary warrior who shared the boy’s name. It was certainly an auspicious legacy to be given. Now, however, her face had returned to its stony state. Waiting for the boy to fill the silence. Eventually he did.

“My sister has been kidnapped.” Tenzin spoke the words calmly, but neither woman failed to notice the strain in his voice. “We were travelling together, visiting our relatives in Doma, when bandits fell upon us. I fought them, but they hit me with a cowardly attack from behind and overpowered me. They would have ended me, but my sister fell upon them in a fury. They… they took her. Vanished down the One River. That’s why I came here. To fight you. To prove I could return and save her.” His gaze was fierce, but fixed directly at the floor. “But I failed. And now my sister is…”

Lyse saw the fire blaze in Arashi’s eyes and knew what was about to happen. With a sigh, Lyse laid a hand on Arashi’s shoulder. “Do what you need to. I’ll warn Hien that the Warrior of Light is about to take matters into her own hands.” Strictly speaking, Arashi had no right to barge into Doma and make a royal mess of a bandit camp, but Hien was lenient enough as long as he was given prior warning. As were a great deal of the other nations’ leaders. Arashi had enough good faith to cash in on a few rampages, as long as they were righteous. Several of her students had come from stunned spectators watching her carve a path through men and monsters alike.

Arashi gave Lyse a thankful smile, then turned to Tenzin. “Which way did they go down the river? North or south?”

Tenzin looked confused for a moment, then responded. “South, I think. But what are you-?”

“Taking care of Hien’s problems for him. Again.” For all the lord of Doma spoke of restoring his great nation, he still had a long way to go. Particularly in ensuring his people were not so desperate as to turn to banditry to make their way in life. “Stay here. I’ll be back soon.” Then Arashi vanished with a soft pop. Lyse excused herself, then strode outside to hail Hien.

“Hien, it’s me! … Yes, I know it’s been a while, but- … No, listen! Arashi’s on her way to- … No, not to visit. We’ve had a visitor and- … No, your soldiers won’t be enough, so- … Well, it’s too late now! Arashi’s already teleported! … Look, send Sanda or Yugiri after her if you must, but- … Don’t take that tone with me! I’m trying- … Ugh! Fine, be that way. But she’ll be long gone by then, you know.”

Hien had not been particularly pleased to hear that Arashi was taking matters into her own hands again, but he knew better than anyone that she couldn’t be stopped when she got the idea in her head. A Dark Knight’s justice was absolute, and delivering mercy to those others overlooked was her call to action. Besides, Hien was all bluster. He would forget about it in time. And perhaps Lyse could make a gift of some Dalmascan Red to smooth things over in the meantime…

A new sound broke through the quiet. Tenzin was crying. Lyse was back in the infirmary in a blink, arms wrapping comfortingly around the boy. “She’ll be alright,” she said, kneeling down to meet Tenzin’s downcast gaze. She wasn’t sure if she meant Tenzin’s sister or Arashi, but she believed it without reservation. Tenzin clearly didn’t believe her, but he nodded anyway. “This isn’t the first time this has happened, you know.” Lyse continued on. “You wouldn’t believe how many people have barged in and challenged Arashi to a fight. And not once have I ever had to intervene. You’re stubborn. I assume it runs in the family?” Tenzin nodded mutely.

Lyse couldn’t help but smile. “Must be an au ra thing, then. You wouldn’t believe what Arashi gets like when she sets her heart on something. To say nothing of her sister. Sanda’s normally so quiet, but when she and Arashi argue…” Lyse shook her head. “Arashi will be fine. So will your sister. She’s the Warrior of Light. She tore down the Garlean Empire, destroyed the immortal Ascians, saved existence itself from the incarnation of despair. A few bandits won’t stop her.”

Tenzin looked at her then, a flash of something unrecognisable in his eyes. “I wish I had your faith. It must be nice.” Lyse’s heart broke for the boy. While times were a great deal easier for most than they had been during the time of the Garleans’ ruthless expansion, there was still a great deal more to be done. And a great many who still suffered all too cruelly under the circumstances of their birth. Tenzin’s story was his own, but Lyse suspected it was not a happy one.

Another pop sounded just outside, followed by the clatter of a weapon to the floor. Arashi appeared in the doorway, now properly armoured and covered in blood. A grim smile was on her face. “Found her,” she declared. Followed swiftly by, “Don’t worry, blood’s not mine. Wasn’t bandits, though.”

Arashi began to explain, but was swiftly interrupted by another face by her side. A girl, barely more than ten summers, eyes wide with amazement. “BROTHER!” she cried, then flung herself at the unprepared Tenzin. The boy was tackled to the ground in an instant, Lyse just barely avoiding the same fate through some swift footwork. She shared a glance with Arashi, then followed the au ra out of the room. The siblings deserved a moment or two to catch up. And Arashi deserved a moment or two to wash up.

A short while later the two women returned to the infirmary, Arashi now properly garbed and not reeking of blood and sweat. Tenzin had been allowed to return to his seat in the meantime, and was making absolutely certain that his little sister was unharmed. His sister, for her part, looked rather unamused but was putting on a brave face through her sibling’s worrying. “And you’re certain they did not harm you, Hana?”

Arashi froze at the name, but neither of the siblings noticed. Lyse closed her hand around Arashi’s, giving her a reassuring squeeze. Arashi smiled in response, letting out a breath she didn’t realise she had been holding. She had explained while getting changed that what Tenzin mistook for bandits had in fact been the guards of a noble house, who had been sent to abduct both of the children on their way through Doman lands. They were, apparently, distantly linked to some other noble house who had insulted the abductors in some way, and this was their means of payback. Arashi had paid them a visit and ensured they would not harm anyone again. She had even left a note for the shinobi who would inevitably investigate. A courtesy call for Sanda, she called it.

Still, both agreed that it wouldn’t be safe to send the pair back home. Several of the guards had escaped Arashi’s particular brand of justice, and it was likely there would be others seeking revenge for the act. They had spare rooms at their house, and the School had rooms aplenty if they sought somewhere that wasn’t under the Warrior of Light’s roof.

Arashi cleared her throat, eyes fixed on Tenzin. “The people who attacked you are dead, as is their master. They can’t and won’t hurt you again, not while you’re under my protection. But you can’t go back to Doma, nor your home. At least not yet. There’s no telling who else might seek to hurt you for what I’ve done.” Arashi paused for a moment, letting what she had told them sink in. It was not an easy thing to be told that you couldn’t return to your homeland. Arashi and Lyse had both swallowed that pill at an early age.

“You don’t have to stay here, or even in the city, but I’d prefer it if you did. I want to keep an eye on you, make sure you’re properly protected. And, if you’ll allow me, I’d like to teach you both how to take care of yourselves.” Tenzin’s eyes lit up for a moment before he could contain his emotions. “Tenzin, you’ve got some skill with the blade, but you’re much too obvious in your movements. And as for you, Hana,” Arashi said with a wry smile, “You have a great deal of passion, but clawing at the eyes of a well-armoured fighter won’t do you much good. Lyse, however, can teach you how to throw a punch which will break the armour of any who cross you.” Lyse noted the near-feral grin suddenly light up Hana’s face. Yes, she could certainly teach her a thing or two.

“You don’t have to decide now, but I’d like to hear your response by tonight, if that’s alright.” Arashi smiled at them both. “Until then, rest. Relax. We’ll give you the tour of the place, introduce you to the other teachers, get you both a good meal.” It took all of two seconds for Tenzin and Hana to come to a decision. It would be the easiest choice of their lives.

Many, many years later, as Tenzin prepared to step down from his position as Grandmaster of the Storm School of Combat, he would look back on his meeting with his friend and mentor with a soft smile. She had tempered the brash, over-zealous boy into a worthy successor to her. Or so she had said, when she had finally allowed herself to properly retire. He only hoped she still thought so, when he crossed into the Aetherial Sea to reunite with her. Still, he would leave the school in good hands, as she had done with him. Her legacy would live on. This much he swore.

Fourteen Days of My Hero Academia

Greetings, friends! The ending has been announced for beloved shounen manga My Hero Academia by Kohei Horikoshi, and I thought it would be a nice opportunity for everyone to express their love of this amazing series! So I am posting a series of prompts for everyone if they would like to participate in this little fandom challenge.

The idea is that, on each day listed, you will create and post something with respect to the day's theme. By create, I mean whatever your heart desires. It could be a fanfic, a fanart, a fanvid, a moodboard, a diorama, a meta post, a screenshot, a poem, a drabble, a few sentences of reflection, anything really! Whatever your brain dreams up! The only requirements are that it qualifies as some sort of fan creation for MHA and that it pertains to the day's theme. The final day of the event will be the official release date of the final chapter of MHA: August 5th, 2024.

Any given day may have multiple prompts. You do not have to do all of them (unless you really, really want to), rather you may pick the one prompt that inspires you the most! And feel free to interpret each prompt however you like. For example, on day 8, you may wish to interpret "line" as a spoken piece of dialogue or as a drawn shape such as the way Horikoshi does creative paneling. On day 11, you could interpret "name" as a nickname, a code name, the kanji in a character's name, or any special meaning in a character's name. Let your imagination run wild!

You may skip out on days if you wish or need to. You may put as much or as little time and effort into this as you like. You could start working now to make some big works, or you could use this opportunity to do a little daily journal project. The sky is the limit! The goal here is to spend some time thinking about MHA before it ends and to make a collection of little fanworks for everyone to enjoy in the process!

SEPFEMBER 2024 PROMPTS LIST

HERE WE ARE! AT LONG LAST! THE MOMENT YOU'VE ALL BEEN (HOPEFULLY) WAITING FOR! GIRL MONTH!

I honestly can't believe this is actually happening. This event was a shower thought a few months ago.

Here's a recap of the event: to participate, make at least one fanwork of any variety during September that features a woman or women from the Zelda franchise as the main character/s. All Linksmeets are welcome in this challenge, as well as general LoZ fans!

Before I drop the prompts list for those who are looking for a little direction, I'd like to mention that I have made an AO3 COLLECTION FOR THIS EVENT. It's open and unmoderated so you can add your works to it freely. And if you post on tumblr, please tag #sepfember !! I'll be scrolling through the tag every day looking for things to reblog and gush about 👀

Now, onto the prompts. Disclaimer: you DON'T have to use all/any of these prompts, or only create things for certain characters on their featured day. This list is just a GUIDE for those who want it. If you have other plans, go with your heart!

At the end of the day, this is a celebration, and all that matters is that you have fun. I hope some of you will join me next month in giving our girls some time in the spotlight, but if you can't, that's okay! There's no pressure! Heyo! For all those interested, I have put together a prompt list for a week of XY in time for the Pokemon XY games' 11th anniversary. These prompts are a jumping off point for anything you might want to make, but there's nothing stopping you from coming up with your own prompts either! You can also choose from either prompt for each day, or try to find a way to incorporate both.

You can also use the tag #PokemonXYWeek2024 for some boosted visibility, and I will also be setting up a collection on AO3 for any written works. This event is SFW only, but shipping is okay. The primary focus is on characters and concepts of the XY games, though you are also welcome to incorporate characters exclusive to the XY anime.

In the foyer of the minor family mansion, looming large and ominous against dark paneled wood, is a floor-to-ceiling portrait of Gun.

This is Pete’s first time seeing it. He must have walked by it earlier without realizing; he wouldn’t have noticed it on their way out either if Macau hadn’t come to a screeching halt in front of it.

In the portrait, Gun sits tall in an ornate chair, smoldering cigar hanging from his fingertips, expression brimming with arrogance. The narcissism of it — the centering of this house’s power on its patriarch, with his sons nowhere to be seen — is not unusual for a mafia mogul like Gun. Pete loathes him for it anyway.

Pete glances at Macau, whose gaze is fixed on his father’s face, and then down at where Macau is thumbing restlessly at the lighter in his palm. The gesture is familiar; the lighter is Vegas’s. It was the only item the doctors found tucked away in the tatters of Vegas’s clothing, and Macau has not relinquished it since. Pete has numbed himself to the sight and sound of it flicking open and shut, matching time with the beeping of Vegas’s heart monitor as he and Macau keep vigil on opposite sides of Vegas’s hospital bed.

The click of the lighter echoes in the cavernous foyer, now, sharp and eerie.

“Macau,” Pete blurts out. He hefts the box cradled in his arms. “I’ll go put your things in the car.” And when that earns him no response, he mumbles, “I’ll be back.”

He staggers out of the foyer and down the front steps to the car, leaving Macau to his thoughts.

Pete’s own mind, fractured and worn from weeks of poor sleep, swirls with thoughts of dead fathers. They leave themselves behind in empty houses and littered beer bottles, in stacks of yellowed photos and stacks of debt, in bruises, old and new. Their specters are impossible to shake, even without massive portraits to contend with.

Pete hopes Vegas won’t keep the portrait if he… when he wakes up. The love sons have for their bastard fathers is a curse, but Vegas will not see it that way, not for a long time. Vegas will want to keep the shadow of his father close. He will not be able to help himself after a lifetime of chasing Gun’s approval.

Better the shadow of his father than the real thing, Pete thinks darkly.

He slams the trunk of the car shut, turns back towards the mansion and then, even through his daze, the scent of it is thick enough to choke — smoke.

Fire.

“Macau?” Pete yells, sprinting up the steps and rushing back into the foyer. Alarms blare in his head: Macau is in danger. He has to keep Macau safe for Vegas. “Something’s wrong, we have to get out—”

He skids to a stop.

Macau looks over his shoulder at Pete, face inscrutable, silhouetted as he is by the burning, blazing portrait behind him. The lighter glints as he flips it round and round between his fingers.

The flames crawl up the portrait, eating away at its domineering presence, incinerating Gun into worthless ashes at his son’s feet.

Words and layers include any fanwork like meta and graphics not only fanfiction and fanart. In fact, Grayson (2014) has been so much discussed, we hope to read or hear about your opinion pieces!

By the end of the year, you will receive a little gift. We are going through the investigation that you put so much work in! 

🎯 Mission Challenge 🎯

Choose your target prompt and take aim at the right date to complete your mission in time!

Each participant will receive a pool of prompts to choose from and an individual due date of their choice. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to complete one prompt before time runs out. 

To claim your mission starting June 18, you will choose your target from a list of 120 prompts. Each prompt can be claimed up to three times in total by any participant, then it gets taken off the list. In addition to the prompt, you choose a date to publish your fanwork.

Every participant will receive a mission card with their prompt and date. It’ll be posted to the Tumblr blog. The more missions you fulfil, the more stats you receive.

TDP Prism is a celebration of transformation and inspiration, and all ideas that spring from canon are welcome. In the same way that extraordinary means “outside the ordinary,” extracanon just means “outside canon.” We are looking for works which have been transformed by you, the artists and creators, leaving your own fingerprints on something you love. You’re part of the process, and we’re glad you’re in this fandom with us!

ItaSasu Birthday Bash 2024

The event officially begins on June 9th and ends on July 23rd.

The Event

What is the event?

The event is an Itachi/Sasuke ship inspired prompt fest month style of event with a birthday theme. It is respectively for Itachi and Sasuke's birthdays on their own as well.

Do I have to sign up somewhere?

No. You can create works and post works at your will.

Is this a low stress event?

Yes. No pressure. Just posting Itachi/Sasuke or Itachi and Sasuke based content for everyone to enjoy.

How did the event start?

The members on the ItaSasu Discord server decided on the dates and put together a list of prompts. Prompts were randomly chosen and their dates. Originally, the idea of the birthday month fest was to celebrate ItaSasu during the time in between Sasuke and Itachi's birthdays. This year, we have opened things up for not only ItaSasu / SasuIta content but content that features either Itachi and Sasuke. This choice was made to give more options for creating works.

Content

What types of media are allowed?

Anything you want to create is allowed. Fic, art, comics, icons, edits, moodboards, manips, headcanons, physical crafts, media, video, audio, etc.

What does “birthday” mean in the context on this event?

Birthday can mean anything from singing a cheerful happy birthday to receiving a wonderful present. It can mean something fluffy and sweet with characters coming closer together. It can be sad feelings someone forgot their birthday, or life isn't going quite right on a birthday. Birthdays can be full of memories. It is a nostalgic time of the year. Birthdays naturally lend different moods or surroundings as the year pass and things change overtime. Itachi and Sasuke have a relationship which hits these changes with their age and experience, so you can hit whichever side of the changes you want to tackle.

Do I have to use the birthday theme in my work?

It isn’t mandatory to use a birthday theme as a central focus alongside your prompt. But in the same vein as the theme, you can make your work completely birthday-themed with the listed prompts so it does take place during the birthday occasions, or you can give your work nods to a birthday theme in spirit. We are flexible on how this is done and how you want to handle your prompts.

Are OCs allowed?

Yes. Put your OCs in your work in any way you want.

Can I create works for just Sasuke or Itachi on their own?

Yes. You can create works for them separately.

Which ships are allowed?

ItaSasu / SasuIta content is of course allowed! Ships that include Itachi and Sasuke in some way are allowed as well. For example, you can create Itachi/Shisui or Sasuke/Naruto if that hits your fancy.

Are polyamory/threesome ships allowed?

Poly ships which include either Itachi or Sasuke or both of them somewhere in the relationship dynamic are allowed. For example, a poly ship could be Sasuke/Naruto/Sakura or Itachi/Sasuke/Shisui.

Can there be background characters and ships?

Yes. You can include background characters or ships that don't have Itachi or Sasuke in them. Itachi or Sasuke focused content or a ship with them should still have some type of content in your work.

Besides Naruto, can I include works with Boruto, AUs, or crossovers?

Yes, you can include them in your works, or other fandoms.

What will not be tolerated?

Hateful, offensive, or inflammatory content aimed towards other participants or the subject of the event. As long as content doesn’t bash or insult other participants for the content of their work (e.g. ships, characters, choice of tropes) and stays relevant to the atmosphere of the birthday bash, you can create for it.

Prompts

How many prompts do I have to use a day?

At least one prompt. We have only one prompt per line this time, so this prompt should be the one that is used in some interpretation.

Can I do more than one work per day?

Yes, of course you can!

Is there a length requirement?

No. You can create a work of any length.

Can I mix the types of content I want to create?

Mixing media types for separate prompts, or for the same prompt, is fine. You can write a fic for one prompt and create art for another prompt.

Is NSFW or trigger content allowed?

Absolutely! Do what you want with NSFW tropes, kinks, or triggering content. We do not have specific content restrictions or ratings for what you can create, so any type of ratings is fine to create.

Should I tag my work for sensitive content?

We ask you to tag your work appropriately for content like violence or sexual themes across the platform you post your works on. Warnings for triggers and NSFW count. Redirect to other sites for NSFW content that can’t be posted on Tumblr, give warnings in tweets, or put cuts on content that might need a cut, etc. The ItaSasu Discord server has NSFW channels for NSFW content.

Does my work have to be new for the event?

Ideally, your work should be a new work for the event so your work can properly focus on the prompts we have provided here. All content should stand as a full work for the event and does not need other works for the content to make sense. However, if you want to draw inspiration from another work, you can use WIPs you haven’t posted yet or separate the entry into a unique and standalone work.

What should I do on the free prompt/break day option?

You can use any trope, kink, or idea you have in mind that otherwise appeals to you for a prompt of your choice. This day is helpful if you aren’t interested in the other prompts on the list or you want to work on something that might not fit the themes for ships or characters. You may work on prompts you need to for other days as well, or you can take a break from working on prompts. This day is very lenient.

Posting

Where can I post my work?

Anywhere you want! Tumblr, Twitter, AO3, FFN, Dreamwidth, etc. You can add your works to our ItaSasu Birthday Bash AO3 subcollection.

Can I submit my work to the Tumblr blog?

You can submit your work on the blog. You may send a message to us after a few days if we don’t post your work and make sure we received it, but we will do our best to post your submission as soon as we can. Submissions might close after the prompt period is finished and you won’t be able to submit anymore, so you’ll have to post those work entries without submitting them if that happens.

How can I make it easier to share my work?

Tumblr: Long posts can go behind cuts so it’s easier to share it. Put event tags in the first five tags. Submissions with NSFW content in the post may not be possible to post on the event blog since Tumblr doesn’t allow posting NSFW content, so please host that elsewhere and share a link to that content.

Twitter: Put warnings of important content in the first tweet of your thread, or at least somewhere that can be found easily if you post it in another tweet.

Who is....James Proudstar | Warpath? - A Reading Guide

James "Jimmy" Proudstar, is an X-Men affiliated character from Marvel Comics first introduced in 1984. Jimmy is a member of the Yavapai-Apache Nation, and was born in Camp Verde, Arizona. Jimmy grew up idolizing his older brother, John, who would die while on a mission with the X-Men, prompting Jimmy's own path into the world of mutant infighting. Jimmy's story includes topics around the mistreatment of indigenous people (including the medical experimentation that they've suffered), as well as dealing heavily with themes of grief and healing. However, given the nature of American comic books and the lack of diversity among writers, the comics do not always do a good job addressing themes and plots specifically related to Jimmy being Apache.

Many earlier comics do not accurately depict Jimmy's skin-tone or culture, so while in the graphic above I have adjusted some coloring, please be advised that in an unfortunately large number of the following issues...he will look white.

From Hellions to X-Force

Jimmy's first appearances are with the Hellions, a villainous group of mutants under the direction of Emma Frost. Jimmy joined their ranks following the death of his brother, John, when he was determined to get revenge on the X-Men- he soon found that he didn't fit in with the Hellions and returned home. Cable approached him about joining the New Mutants but he declined until he discovered that the Hellfire Club (of which Emma was part) had murdered his entire tribe. Now fueled by a desire for revenge against Emma Frost, Jimmy agreed to join the New Mutants right before they turned into X-Force.

Necrosha, etc.

After the events of Messiah War, Jimmy became embroiled in Necrosha (reanimated mutants were being controlled by Selene and the T-O virus). After fixing that scenario, Jimmy quit X-Force, stayed in Utopia after the schism, and would join the X-Men in a war against the Avengers. (This era technically includes Age of X, but Jimmy doesn't really...do much there so I didn't include those appearances).

What is this?

It’s a Sam Wilson fan event.

Is there any pressure?

No pressure at all. Fill one prompt. Fill all the prompts on for the month. Do however many you please.

Can I fill more than one prompt with one piece of art/one fic?

Yes! You can fill one prompt with one piece of art or fic. You can try to fill all 30 prompts at once with one piece of art or fic. If you can fill every single prompt from every single day in one fill, that’d be wild but it’s okay by the rules. You can do any number in between.

Are there any prizes for making anything for this event?

Just the satisfaction that you made something cool.

Should the work I make be Sam Wilson-centric?

Yes. You can make a gen work or a piece with any ship with Sam Wilson in it, but the main focus should be Sam Wilson.

How long will this event run?

It will run from September 1st to September 30th.

I heard there are badges I can use for each fill?

There will be! They will come out daily.

Do I have to post my fic for the prompt on the day of the prompt?

You can if you'd like, but it's okay if you post a piece on a day other than the day of the prompt.

What are the guidelines for the event?

I will be borrowing some of this from the MYSU Valentine’s Day Bingo 2022 Guidelines, since they were fantastic.

For Everyone:

1. Remember to tag @samsseptember in the post as well as #samtember2023.

2. Please also tag the prompt you’re using (for instance, if the square is “Redwing”, use “#redwing” as one of your tags when posting about it on Tumblr).

3. If you’re uploading to AO3, please:

a ) Say somewhere which prompt you’re filling.

b ) Add it to The Samtember Collection (under Samtember2023).

For Artists:

1. Create at least one piece of new art that can’t have been posted anywhere else before this.

2. All visual art forms are welcome:

a ) Gifsets or photosets, at least 3 gifs or photos.

b ) Aesthetic boards or moodboards, at least 4 images each.

c ) Drawing/painting, that is not a sketch.

d) Fan video.

e) Graphics edit.

Things to be mindful of when creating:

For Sam

Avoid framing Sam only as a caretaker or emotional support for Bucky. Be mindful of Sam acting angry or aggressive in an out-of-character way and falling into the angry/sassy Black man trope (check out the MCU source material to help with character traits).

Avoid decentering Sam as a main character and refrain from focusing entirely on Bucky.

In art: avoid whitewashing Sam’s skin and research drawing Black characters.

General disclaimer: Race affects every aspect of his life, including interacting with police/government and the white structures of the world when it comes to performing his duties as Cap and simply being a Black man that lives in the U.S.

Specific Tags:

Smutober for the Hogwarts Legacy Fandom 

Since I have been having massive writers block the last month, I decided to give myself the oportunity to be a part of my favorite month of prompts, kinktober and take it slow.  However, I do not want to do all kinks so I made mine more general and am calling it more of a “smut”ober. 

Please do not have any super high expectations lol. I am allowing myself to post both low effort and high effort things this month, or as many days as I can/want to. I started writing again and I just fell right back into my usual rhythm so I am hoping my writers block is at bay for now. I think I am just excited for this month since it is my Birthday month! and I love daily prompt themed things.
