And then when you call out because you can't stop crying and don't know why and snapped at a customer (because it's the anniversary of your father's death where you held him as he slowly died and your body had a trauma response without you even realizing it) its "oh you let down the team. i am being impersonated by a spam bot and twitter won’t deal with it but i have A Theory as to how to Make Them Pay Attention:

this creepy impersonator using my avatar popped up the same month i started posting links to my gofundme (🥺) on twitter, so it’s probably intended to scam would-be donors, whether via DMs or showing up in my replies to redirect people to donate to the wrong place or something.

support has been (predictably) useless so far-- i think the reports are ending up in the wrong basket and i’m getting automated nonsense as a result. here’s what i want people to do:

1. go to the scammer's profile 2. click the (...) icon 3. click report 4. choose "Everyone On Twitter" 5. “They're being impersonated or shown a deceptive identity” 6. "Pretending to be them" > 7. enter @doodlemancy and select that account from the list (NOT doodlemancyart; they’re impersonating my main account, that’s what we want support to see) 8. choose No (you are not technically a Legal Representative) 9. choose Yes, Continue 10. if you have the time, write a little ditty in the Additional Context about how this popped up the same month as my gofundme and is probably trying to take advantage of people wrt that by impersonating me 11. submit! one of the things that sucks so much about gentrification (aside from the obvious like displacement of poor & marginalised people) is the fact that it makes it really difficult to do things that would theoretically actively improve the lives of residents in those communities bc like... if that investment doesnt come with strict rent controls/security of tenure you're making people's existance more insecure.

I follow a lot of people who talk about walkable communities and bike infrastructure/public transport and i feel like some of them are too quick to dismiss certain criticisms that they get. Like. creating accessible non-car dependent communities is unequivocably a good thing, but unfortunately, especially in places like the US, those kinds of places are very popular, so yeah, you'll see poor residents protesting a bike lane/pedestrian infrastructure or whatever as being gentrification. And you can dismiss that and be like well actually that doesn't make sense because poor people are less likely to own a car and are more likely to die in a traffic accident...but like... you're not engaging with the reason that people are scared of those plans! Like, yes it might 'improve' that area, but how does that help the locals when now suddenly their rents are going up drastically and they can't stay? This is one of the reasons that i feel like economic & housing equality should always be part of any kind of progressive platform (especially if you're talking about things related to urban planning). Unfortunately too many of the people who talk about that kind of stuff are liberals who don't really care that much lol. anyway. i need to finish my thesis and not make tumblr posts

How can you help? 1) So glad you asked! You can use the ask box to ask for a recommendation (ex "I'm in the mood for something gloomy, but no racism please" or "anyone got anything suitable for five year olds that isn't from Disney Jr?") or help identifying a show you just can't recall ("I think it was about cheerleaders and also there was a dancing leprechaun for some reason?").

2) You can also submit shameless promotion for your favorite musicals! Do you really love a show and want to share it with the world? Write up a post and send it in! Don't worry if your choice is niche, obscure, or obscenely popular; the important thing is your enthusiasm. :)

However, please remember that every show is someone's favorite. Please do not promote a show by saying "Hamilton sucks, so here's 1776..." or "I know we all can't stand Sondheim, but let's talk about his one good show, Saturday Night." Use your best judgement.

What kind of musicals count? If it's got singing and dancing, that pretty much qualifies! So Broadway shows, off-Broadway shows, Starkid, Glee, animated movies, it all counts! By all means, please write in with why Yoram Gross' Dot films are cultural treasures and how you can never go to the circus thanks to "The Circus is a Prison" from Around the World with Dot.
