What kind of music do you listen to?
Alt, rock, metal. Those kinds of things. Don’t know too much about the sub-genres, but I like the really loud and messy kinds with all of the screaming, or as much as I can get — pretty sure I just described metal.
Anyway, all that screaming when done right’s kinda like white noise, I like it. Here’s a favorite.
Occasionally, I’ll branch out n’ listen to classical, doesn’t happen often though.

INTRODUCTING 𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆...
oh screw beautiful! i’m brilliant!
until the battery died — jj x dorkling!reader
𐙚
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   made with love and inspiration from Rory Gilmore, a hint of Jo March, sprinkles of Spencer Hastings. Driven like Alex Dunphy and firm as Paris Geller. With a pinch of Matilda Wormwood, and various splashes of everyone’s Disney Princess: Belle. Blair Waldorf if she ended up with Dan Humphrey. Kat Stratford by heart, if she had a Pinterest mood board.
Tumblr media
you want to appease me? compliment my brain!
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   emotional intelligence is her love language. curious of the world around her. devours words on pages like it’s oxygen. speaks in references or sometimes even bible quotes to scare someone away. always has a fact or a theory she’s passionate about but she doesn’t let slip out. she’s book smart, not exactly street, but she finds her way around it— isn’t afraid to challenge authority and excels in English essays to a tee.
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   she doesn’t rely on anyone’s approval, especially not men or the popular crowd. she’s fiercely self-sufficient and values her freedom over popularity. perceptive — sees what others don’t. the smallest of details, even meaningless ones.
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   sarcasm is her defence, her shield against stupidity, and god, does she despise it. vulnerability isn’t on the charts. quick wit, smart jabs, bitter comebacks, it’s in her tongue, and as said, she’s quick w/ it.
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   straight A’s, school paper editor, debate team captain, National Honor Society—her schedule is a color-coded war zone of productivity. she’s a bit of a perfectionist and holds herself to high standards—sometimes too high.
         𐙚
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   quirks: she corrects grammar under her breath, recites quotes from books like they’re spells, wears a watch even though she always checks the time on her phone, writes the date in the margin of every book out of school routine habits. she also has a strong preference for fountain pens and leather bound notebooks, she hates paper without it being lined, it feels messy for her, she tries out every study technique and hates the spider diagram, because of how all over the place it is ( I relate. )
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   pet peeves: mispronounced literary names and it’s giving Hermoine Granger on god, people who brag about not reading, loud chewers when eating, group projects with slackers that’s why she does her own work, hates when people make themselves look stupid for entertainment with the exception of comedy, people who brag about not studying and still getting A’s, shallow conversations and incorrect grammar in texts/posts, bent book pages, mugs with bad puns, those weird positivity quotes on stand by at the stores.
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   habits: annotates EVERYTHING she reads. listens to classical music or audiobooks while studying. carries a book because she knows she’s gonna get bored eventually of something or someone, usually the kindle version not a hardcore book. constantly is organising everything, she’s a bit paranoid when it comes to things being organised and neat, like it mentally irks her. sometimes by colour of book, and sometimes by author, or initial. she can’t stick to one. colour coding obsessed. talks to herself but hates being caught doing it. keeps multiple journals. daily to do lists and she actually does it.
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   insecurities: her appearance, even though she tells herself it doesn’t matter, she’s always the girl who picks at her skin, and then hates herself for picking at the acne or the marks, regularly looks at herself in the mirror, but she doesn’t tell anyone about her insecurities, telling herself it’s not meant to matter and goes along her day saying “im the smart one anyways, I don’t care”. constantly compares herself to others, fear of her friends leaving her because she’s too overbearing, and she overthinks a lot, and gets attached easily when she doesn’t want to. always apologising for talking too much. “I’m sorry. Please don’t leave.” Is what she texts a person in the most polite manner ever with tears whenever she thinks she’s spoken too much than necessary or when her insecurities overcome her into a breakdown, and then she messages people all of a sudden. Hides her feelings because she doesn’t want to come off as attention seeking. Feels used most of the time, secretly a lover girl, but she’d rather use her head than her heart. over apologises.
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   fears: not getting her parents approval, which is all she’s worked for, even the slightest eyebrow furrow makes her panic, especially with the pressures of being a poc girl, and with having immigrant parents who have a lot of expectations on her, she feels like she owes them her life and her hardwork. letting people in is so scary to her. losing control of the perfection, the organising, breaking down, she hates her mental breakdowns. she’s prone to having panic attacks when her grades are going low, that one time she got below a 50%, she just locked herself up in a bathroom to cry. being alone forever scares her too, even if she shows that she likes solitude. she doesn’t see her own beauty, but everyone around her does.
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   hidden secrets: she has a hidden row behind a slide in door with no label, it’s mostly the steamy romance books, with the dirtiest lines, dirtiest scenes, dirtiest language and a dirty cover, known to mankind all hidden behind a slid in door but it just looks like a part of the bookshelf so her parents and NO ONE finds it, no one needs to know the smart ones have the dirtiest minds. she has a burn book— this is where that slightly cunningly intelligent side of her comes in, with screenshots, notes, evidence, and if anyone wrongs her or her friends, she’s ready. sometimes she thinks about death, not in a suicidal way, as in a escape, she daydreams about other realities, pictures herself in them, some insane, some peaceful. when her and pope were both competing for that Ivy League position, she backed down because she knew how much he needed the position more than her, unlike her who could buy it. she even gave him money to pay for it, the tuition and everything. despite their differences with her being a Kook and him being a Pogue, they became friends. she cheated on one of her Physics test, by taking the answer sheet, and she’s never told anyone. she has a shirt that says “talk nerdy to me” but never shows anyone it.
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   flaws: perfectionism, control issues, attachment issues, judgemental, paranoid of being alone in the end
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   goals: to get into Harvard, that has been her main goal for a long time, she plans to become a published writer or a diplomat, but her teachers guess she might even be the first female President, or somewhere working in the White House. she doesn’t really think about having a family or marriage, it’s not her biggest priority and she doesn’t think anyone would want to.
         𐙚
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   oversized cardigans. wool skirts. turtlenecks. Oxford shoes. squared glasses. cable knit sweaters. pleated trousers. Harvard sweatshirts. Oxford button downs. Graphic t-shirts that have either Gilmore Girl references, an inspirational quote about like psychology or an iconic quote, or bookish references. vintage sweatshirts. cropped knits. vintage trench coats. oversized denim jackets. Corduroy blazers. canvas tote bags full of books, lip balm, half eaten granola bars and one emergency tampons. She gravitates toward muted tones—burgundy, forest green, navy, and cream. knee high rainy day boots. tights.
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   makeup is usually low maintenance. she still has it but she doesn’t apply much because if she runs out of it, she won’t want to spend more money on it. hair often pulled into a messy bun or braided crown. little to no makeup—maybe some tinted lip balm and a dab of concealer on rushed days. a full face just makes her want to scratch her face and adjust things a lot and it’s distracting for her, and she’s allergic to some products.
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   her aesthetic is a mix of dark and light academia, with a bit of literary girl autumn, she wears her thoughts like perfume, she drinks cold coffee with a dog-eared copy of The Bell Jar, her eyeliner is slightly smudged from rubbing her eyes mid-poetry reading, her aesthetic isn’t just visualit’s a whole vibe, one that makes people wonder what she’s thinking, and whether they’ll ever get close enough to find out. her room is full of books, fairy lights, typewritten notes, and coffee-stained paper. A corkboard is filled with clippings, quotes, and color-coded Post-its. she’s got a bit of that office siren look.
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   by first impression: crushed violet leaves, earl grey tea, fait citrus zest. what lingers on her skin: powdery iris, black fig, rosewater. what stays with her: cedar wood, a mix of cocoa and vanilla beans, a whisper of tobacco or worn leather. smells like old books, vanilla, and a hint of bergamot. something warm and intellectual like Byredo Bibliothèque or Maison Margiela’s Whispers in the Library.
         𐙚
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   gothic novels for the atmosphere and psychology texts that blur the line between intellect and self analysis, obscure diaries, letters or journals by long dead artists or revolutionaries, or old sources of the past, especially with her history obsession, she definitely read Becoming Michelle Obama, philosophy in translation— Camus, Sontag, Simon de Bouvoir. poetry. angst YA.
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   Sylvia Plath. Virginia Woolf. Emily Dickinson. Oscar Wilde. Charlotte Brontë. Sappho. Anaïs Nin. Rainer Maria Rilke. Mary Wollstonecraft. Mary Shelley. Simone de Bouvoir. Dostoevsky— when she wants intensity. Jane Austen (secretly) and prefers the social commentary than the romance. Homer for the ancient epics.
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. Her forever book. It’s personal. It’s sacred. She saw herself in Esther Greenwood’s mental spirals and inability to just be normal. She rereads this when she feels like she’s slipping out of herself and needs someone to name the darkness. A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf— her feminist thesis before she had one. She found this in high school and it changed how she saw herself. It gave her permission to take up space. She keeps a highlighted copy in her tote. The Diary of Anaïs Nin— She discovered Anaïs by accident and now thinks in diary entries. it’s all exactly what she wants to embody without admitting it. She reads Nin when she feels too much and needs to feel even more.
𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆…   she loves Salem witch trials, the Romanov sisters, Library of Alexandria, had a Tudor phase. The Titanic, she cries in bed every night about how Rose and Jack aren’t real. Sultanate of Women, she can’t shut up about either. Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece are her most interested historical periods. Mughal Empire is also interesting. She also likes the tales of Mansa Musa of the Mali Empire, who was one of the most richest men to walk on Earth. Her current history obsession is with female spies and resistance fighters during WWII — specifically Noor Inayat Khan and Virginia Hall. she’s also interested with the Cold War, and American Revolution. she watches documentaries too.

"Having grown up on punk rock, Eddie Larkin-Crowley has taken the alternative genre by storm. Combining the fiery energy and heavy riffs of classic rock and punk with the lyricism and dreamy vocals of folkpunk and R&B, Crowley's music is completely unique to the scene whilst staying true to both genre's roots. Usually making music about embracing aromantism and fighting amatonormativity or inspired by classic gothic literature, Crowley's albums always have a story to tell from the beginning to the very last track."

THROWING UP IN THE BATHROOM AT THE VALENTINE'S PARTY・2021

# TITLE
1 crush culture 2 life's a bit 3 aromantic moodboard 4 eighteen 5 sweet tooth 6 arms tonite 7 kissaphobic 8 against the kitchen floor 9 scared of my guitar 10 that's enough, let's get you home 11 better than me 12 no children 13 awesome party, dude! 14 dead boy in the pool. 15 sex, drugs, rock 'n roll
🇼🇦🇹❜🇸 🇹🇭🇪 🇦🇷🇹🇮🇸🇹 🇭🇦🇻🇪 🇹🇴 🇸🇦🇾?
"This was the album concept that really first connected to me on a deep level. it's about longing and yearning for something that you think you need, but knowing you can't have. I spent a long time thinking I needed to be in a relationship and forced myself to date so many people waiting for "the one". But, the one never came. From the angry, punk rock energy of "life's a bit", to the more acoustic reflection of "scared of my guitar", all the way to the piano ballad of "sex, drugs, rock 'n roll", valentine's party, as a whole, is the story of someone desperate to find their soulmate, hoping it will complete them, but in the end realizing they hated even being with this person they were so desperate to prove themself to. aromantic desperation, basically."

🇼🇭🇦🇹❜🇸 🇹🇭🇪 🇦🇷🇹🇮🇸🇹 🇭🇦🇻🇪 🇹🇴 🇸🇦🇾?
"honestly, this EP is just songs that didn't make the valentine's party album. So, in a way, this is the continuation of that album's story. The story of the main character recognizing who they are and their identity, and then...accepting it. Accepting themself as they are. The good ending. I honestly didn't except "never been in love" to go as viral as it did, but I'm glad it did. There was never anybody like me in music when I was growing up. Everything was about romance and finding your perfect match, and it made me feel like I needed it. I'm glad the next generation is getting songs for those of us who don't want that. I'm glad I can be the person I needed in music when I was growing up."

# TITLE

🇼🇭🇦🇹❜🇸 🇹🇭🇪 🇦🇷🇹🇮🇸🇹 🇭🇦🇻🇪 🇹🇴 🇸🇦🇾?
"Nevermore is a passion project, I admit. I've always loved gothic literature and especially Edgar Allen Poe, so I knew I wanted to write something inspired by it. Nevermore started as a collection of poems following someone descending into madness, like in so many of Poe's short stories. From the haunting melody of "a tell-tale heart", to the rapid lyricism of "outliars and hyppocrates" all the way to the full punk rock release of "nevermore.", this album is a story about a fall from grace and sanity. A lot of it has been inspired by my own battles with mental health and intrusive thoughts, though not all of it is autobiographical, obviously."

🇼🇭🇦🇹❜🇸 🇹🇭🇪 🇦🇷🇹🇮🇸🇹 🇭🇦🇻🇪 🇹🇴 🇸🇦🇾?
"This album, honest to god, blossomed from my random impulsive thought on day; "what if I just ran away and went feral in the woods?" I entertained the thought and wrote "bugabear" and it all went downhill from there. dirt falling over my head, from the bootstamping "the hand that feeds", to the haunting "maggot" all the way to the eerie "little dark age" and "meet me in the woods", is about the idea of running away from civilation and becoming one with the woods. however, what happens when you become one with the woods? you don't just become part of the woods, they become a part of you too. moss grows up in your lungs and your skin cracks like bark. you're something more than human now, and how will you repay the woods for it?"

"This album is all about exploring the different concepts of love. I wanted to highlight this ever since I learned about the greek concepts of love. As an aromantic person, I wanted to make an album about love without it being inherently romantic, and this was the perfect way to do it. Philia follows different relationships that embody each of the greek concepts of love that their song is named for. It's a bit of an anthology as an album, standalone stories connected by a common theme."

the rosy blog project - episode 1:
꒰ঌ intro + pt. 1 on how we made 2024 actually feel like 2014 ໒꒱
Tumblr media
hiiii sweethearts! ໒꒰ྀིᵔ ᵕ ᵔ ꒱ྀི১
welcome to the first episode of the rosy blog project! i’m andrea, but you can call me roseate. i'll be your host to this dreamy corner of the internet, where we celebrate all things feminine and inspiring.
this project is my way of reviving the iconic rosy blog era here on tumblr. in the 2010s, life felt slower, filled with hobbies, fashion, beauty tips, boybands, fandoms, iconic tv shows, and bubbly playlists. here, we'll savor the little things that made us feel connected, feminine and creative!
༊࿐ ⊹ ˚. part 1: what was the rosy blog era?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
just in case you weren't around on tumblr in the early 2010s, rosy blog content focused on the years we spent hours reading glossy magazines like teen vogue, watching our fave youtubers, and scrolling through dreamy blogs. the rosy blog style was unapologetically girly. it embraced soft pinks, cream tones, and everything feminine. it was all about finding joy in the little things, like curating playlists, buying self-care products, and creating a space that felt uniquely yours.
༊࿐ ⊹ ˚. part 2: my take on how we made 2024 really feel like 2014
from the beggining of the year, i saw so much content on ig and tiktok from people begging to bring back 2014 vibes in 2024. i definitely believe that, collectively, we made it happen. this will be a series of a few blog posts breaking down this year's best moments and how everything felt like the rosy blog era.
section 1: music and pop culture
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ariana grande in her wicked & eternal sunshine era: she literally embraced everything we loved from her yours truly era and reinvented it to fit her glinda role. the looks we got from her were super feminine, elegant and classy. seeing her like this reminded me so much of her gorgeous 2010s aesthetic. also, her eternal sunshine album was insanely good. the dreamy vocals felt like a new era that revisited her feminine side from her first album. last year, we even had her yours truly live sessions. inmaculate vibes!
madison beer slowly becoming viral again: i've been a fan of madison ever since i discovered her. this year, i got so excited when her song make you mine went viral. the techno style and her beautiful voice reminded me of some of her earlier songs, even a bit of i won't let you walk away. she’s so talented, and back in 2014, she was all over tumblr. i hope she finally gets the recognition she deserves!
fangirl nostalgia: during the 2010s, you were either a 1d, 5sos, jb or btr fangirl (or all of them at once!). so much has happened this year with our faves—jb having his first child, btr touring again—it’s been a beautiful revisit of the memories we made in those fandoms. and the best part? we continue to create new ones by supporting them into their adulthood. (except for the tragic passing of liam—may he rest in peace).
lana in coachella: nothing felt more 2014 than our beautiful lana headlining coachella this year. her ethereal voice revided her most iconic songs, and the vibes were simply the dreamiest. i completely adored the setlist, and her styling was too cute! classic lana, yet timelessly fresh.
girly pop revival: from sabrina carpenter's short n' sweet tour to taylor swift's eras tour, 2024 absolutely brought girly pop back to the mainstream. we had amazing albums from artists like charli xcx (the most 2014 revival ever) and rising stars like tate mcrae, addison rae and many more. my personal favorite? FLO's debut album, access all areas. their vocals and y2k style are a must hear i'm sure you'll adore.
.mp3 by emilia: if you haven’t heard of emilia i'll be GLAD to introduce you. she's an insanely talented argentinian singer, composer, actress and model (also, the most stunning girl ever). last year, she released her second studio album, .mp3, with a 2000s-inspired sound and vibe. it's the girliest, most empowering, and fun album from a latin artist. this album served girly vibes with genres like pop, urban, dance pop, and contemporary r&b. even though this project and tour leaned into a y2k aesthetic, it also gave me major 2010 vibes with its sounds, looks and visuals. i'll dedicate a whole post to her and the album soon because, genuinely, the art direction is INSANE, and it's my favorite thing ever
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
for now, that’s it for this first section. i have so much to share with you—from lifestyle to fashion and so much more! i hope you enjoyed reading this 2024 recap, pt. 2 will be up soon.
i'd love to hear your thoughts on this post! let me know what you’d add or want to chat about, my dms are always open lovelies! have a magical and dreamy day ೀ ׅ ۫ . ㅇ

any predictions for vbs wl2 before it comes out?
Okay so I'm not sure if the another cuts have anything to do with the divergence points but I'm gonna assume they don't and they just picked the coolest looking 3DMVs for each member (I mean I do think ultra c is cooler than Realize but I understand not using it bc it's more vbs a whole than Kohane centric). Like what the hell do you do with Rekindle? Akito has burnout and does nothing about it and stagnates? That's boring and pretty ooc.
I've said before but I do think An or Kohane will be related to their meeting in main story. Probably Kohane since I think An might end up with something related to Nagi. It's the most obvious divergence point imo, though it could be a little bit boring because otherwise Kohane's life continues being boring and obviously she'd want to keep reality. Like there's no conflict. Idk maybe she got invested in something else. If not maybe you could move it a little further into VBS' story, maybe something to do with Taiga mentoring her so it's like tangentially related to the Nagi stuff I assume will be in An's chapter. I don't want to go with Kohane gives up but all I can think of comes back to that. Kinda hope I'm wrong.
Nagi being important to An's chapter is like the most obvious thing in the world and £5 says she's on the card or at least referenced on it. Not necessarily what if Nagi didn't die but I do think Nagi will be important somehow. Unlike what I said about Fuel/Rekindle I do think Machi/VoT could be important here. The flashbacks in that event were important for An and her relationship with Nagi and Vivid Street so maybe diverge somewhere there? I'm not saying Nagi lives is out if the question though like from a writing perspective it is the most logical for conflict: it gives An an ideal scenario but one that would drastically alter what she has in the present. Good conflict.
Akito is the one I'm struggling with most. Because like with Kohane the most obvious points to diverge from all involve him quitting, and then there's also Akito continues playing football, which just isn't exactly interesting. Akito quitting is really ooc, I just don't see where that could go. And if we do go with the idea that the another cut is the divergence point event, then where the fuck do you go with Rekindle. Unless the sekai just chooses to make Akito really angry at himself I can't think of anything. Idk maybe get rid of Toya and nothing else really changes except for the fact It's Not Toya.
Toya's is probably going to be something to do with his relationship with classical music. He didn't run away, or he didn't come to terms with his past, something like that. I'm kinda annoyed that we're getting this in a post-Toya5 Harumichi rewrite world but whatever I can't stay salty forever. I mean maybe it'll be something else but it by far makes the most sense, and has plenty of interesting conflict that could come with it. Also if we assume all WL2 chapters are in the same rewritten world then this goes hand in hand with my joke theory about Akito chapter. He's Toyaless now.
Alternatively we do just go with the "what if they all gave up at X point" so then we can reflect on why their real selves didn't give up and overcame their struggles and pain and used that to move forward. Turning Pain Into Drive or something. I still think this is kinda boring but it goes with the previous WL stories being functionally the project sekai equivalent of a clip show episode (ie. It talked a lot about character development just in case you hadn't been reading the other stories but at least there was like. Actual plot even if it was kinda basic)
Machi another cut is going to ruin lives.

~ SWTD: Still Here AU Part 27: ~
No Hard Feelings:
And, here we are, the final chapter for season 1. Yes. You read that right. There will be a season 2, but it won't begin until after Christmas. Until then, I have another announcement and I'll be focusing on my own project as well.
I also want to thank everyone who's been following this story, and hopefully will continue to do so going forward.
What if...? Part 1:
The glow from the fire pit greeted Suze and Rennick. Caz waved them over as Trots and Simon began to serve everyone. Suze headed for her husband and took her spot on the steps. Rennick awkwardly sat between Gibbo and Roy, unable to look them in the eye. He wanted to be with Suze. In just ten minutes, she had become a source of comfort for him. Letting out all his feelings and washing away his 'King' façade, which was both a blessing and a curse, because now he was just Davey Rennick. But, who was Davey Rennick?
Gibbo handed him a bowl of casserole, which he took with a quiet 'thank you.' He could feel everyone's eyes on him. Soon, they all took their seats around the firepit. Small chatter filled the air. Rennick stared at his food. He didn't have the appetite. One last thing weighed on his mind. Now, it was his turn to be brave.
'I know,' everyone stopped and turned. They saw the anxiety in Rennick's eyes. Too late to go back now. 'I've been more than a shit manager to all of you. And, what I did has caused us all to be here. Because of me, you lot,' referring to the infected. 'Will never be the same again, and I can't fix that. You all had to deal with who I was for so long, and, looking back, I'm surprised you didn't throw me overboard.' An empty joke no one laughed at, but Rennick made another empty chuckle. It was his way of finding strength. 'And I'm sorry you had to deal with who I was for so long. I just...' A sigh. 'I dunno. Turned into something you all had to see.' He paused to catch his breath. 'I don't want to be that man anymore, but I don't know where to start. And-'
'And we want to apologise.'
Rennick flinched when he felt someone touch the top of his head. It was Gibbo. That surprised Rennick. He thought Gibbo would never speak to him again. The last time he did, he split his cheek and brow open.
'...F-For what?'
'For not supporting you. You got us here, and we never thanked you for it.'
'No. You don't need to-'
'We're also sorry for not noticing how you've been feeling,' Brodie interrupted. 'We're in this together, and we should have seen what you're going through.'
Rennick was stunned. He glanced to Gibbo, then to everyone else. He didn't understand. He saw their kind eyes, causing his to widen. No one's looked at him like that in a long time. He didn't know what to say.
'Ah, King Rennick,' Roy hummed, breaking the silence. 'Well, if he's officially gone, then...' He moved to grab a beer, opening and handing it to Rennick. 'I'm happy to finally meet you.'
He accepted with a small yet genuine smile. 'Let's hope this one isn't a prick, eh?' They tapped the bottom of their bottles together before taking a swig. Still weaker than piss. The robin flew and perched on Rennick's arm, softening his eyes. Everyone noticed, and seeing their manager smile, whilst different, was nice to see.
'Okay then, Davey, tell us a bit about yourself?' Trots smirked.
'What?'
'Oh God,' Caz snickered under his breath.
'We do it with anyone who joins the friend group.'
It took Rennick a moment to realise what they were saying, and he just laughed. Yet again, it was different but nice to see.
'So, we know you like to laugh,' Trots joked. 'Good to know.'
'Oh, and what about you, Campbell?'
'He's trained in ballroom dancing,' Simon answered without hesitation, causing Trots to snap his head to his lover and nudge him in the arm. Everyone except O'Connor, Mary, Gibbo, and Irene was shocked. They knew he was into classical music from the 40s, but he never told anyone that he swayed around on the dance floor.
'And you never told us,' O'Connor teased, causing Trots' face to go red, who now realised he's been played at his own game.
'So, you do have a personality outside of a Union,' Gibbo continued.
'Come on,' Addair encouraged, putting on a terrible Scottish Accent. 'Do a little jig.' For once, everyone agreed with him.
'Okay, next!' Trots yelled a little too loudly, making Simon laugh, earning another small nudge. 'You're on the naughty list,' he whispered.
'Oh, you tease,' Simon whispered back, before sneaking in a small kiss on the cheek.
'Well, actually...' Raffs got to his feet and went inside the house. Rennick didn't expect anything and just thought the young lad was going to get more drinks. Until he returned with a dart board in his hands. 'We'd like to know if you can play?'
For some reason, that got Rennick to laugh again. He didn't know where it came from. Was it nerves? Maybe. But, the man was happy, and his smile grew wider.'Got any darts?'
The crew and their families had learned three things about Davey Rennick.
One; He loved to laugh. Sometimes, it fell into a mischievous giggle, which was rather infectious.
Two: He adored the bird. A tendril was always stroking the top of the robin's head, and she didn't seem to mind. Roy, however, had a feeling he was an animal lover. The food he always gave him would quickly vanish with a clean plate, knife and fork, and seagulls loved to perch around his office.
Three: He was really good at darts, beating Brodie's score with flying colours, causing everyone to cheer and hug him. Something else for Rennick to be surprised by, freezing up his body and just allowing it to happen. His mind wandered back to the final night on the rig, when Caz confessed what he did to Billy. Although he wasn't there, he completely understood Caz's feelings and the high spirits everyone felt. It then flashed to when Brodie won the darts. Again, he understood the feeling. How wonderful it was. No wonder he was jealous. Thankfully, it wasn't a mosh pit, but he, too, had to hold back his tears again.
'Alright, get off. I need another beer.' That wasn't going to be so easy. Muir, just like he did with Brodie and Caz, lifted the man up above his head as if he was holding a cat under their arms. Rennick yelped in surprise before begging to be put down. Wish granted. He moved away from his crewmates, who were now setting the dart board up for another round, because Brodie wasn't losing his title after working so hard to get it.
With a content sigh, Rennick sat near to the firepit and watched from afar. The robin landed on his nose. A beer came into his peripheral vision. He turned. It was Caz. Rennick accepted whilst the leccy pulled reposition a chair and sat beside him.
'Thanks.'
'Nae bother.' They tapped the bottles together and took a swig. 'I see Suze got through to you.'
'Aye. You chose her well.'
'Nah. She chose me, and I nearly fucked it up.' Caz felt Rennick wrap a tendril around his shoulder for support. 'But, I think we're back on track now.' He then noticed the robin still resting. 'What's her name?'
'Still debating on that.' They watched the bird fly and nestle on the crown of his head. 'But...' Rennick didn't have any personal memories of her, but the name was fitting. 'I like the name Ruby.'
'Ruby it is then.' Another tap of their beer bottles. 'See, Rennick?'
'What?'
'Does this mean we're okay, like? No hard feelings?'
Rennick was quiet for a moment. He looked at Caz. Deep down, he expected some feelings to bubble to the surface. The hatred and anger he felt when he read the letter. That feeling of betrayal from someone he did respect. His blood boiling. How he wanted to give the leccy the same treatment he gave Billy during their 'meeting.' How he wanted to crush every bone in his body when he chased him throughout Administration. But, none of that happened. Not even the pain from transforming entered his mind. The man was content. Finally at peace. The pair turned back to watch the darts game.
'Aye. No hard feelings.'

2024 feminist movie retrospective ~ day 11
It's RAPID FIRE REVIEWS TIME !! ROUND 4
I don't have enough to say about these next films to write full reviews, but i still want to mention them, these are some of the ones i watched in theaters in July/August/September of 2024.
Tumblr media
A really fun, compelling fictional story set in a real historical concept i had no knowledge of. Super interesting, beautiful locations and a close look at a culture we almost never get to see in movies. Loved that one! Very beautifully shot, good acting, interesting characters. THE best movie ending of the year bar none. I strongly recommend this one!! It's a very easy, satisfying watch that will appeal to all of you i think.

Back when the first movie came out, I was a bit disappointed. It was a good film, but I thought it was predictable and it tried too much to be a horror movie (and failed miserably at it). I enjoyed AQP2 much better, and this new one kept everything I liked from that one! It's pretty fun, it has tense moments, it has a beautiful conclusion, so overall a pretty good time :)
Lupita Nyong'o is fucking stellar as usual. Her character is interesting and pretty complex and her performance really sells this story. There's so much dignity and depth to her character, and it's a very original choice for a sci-fi thriller protagonist. I know a lot of you enjoy weak pathetic men, so you'll like Joseph Quinn in this I think. He looks AND acts like a sad wet cat lol. Speaking of cat, it must have been difficult to shoot but the cat actors who play Frodo are very good! So cute <3
The writing isn't perfect (some moments are a bit too easy and convenient) but if you enjoy creature movies, stressful movies and/or you love cats I recommend it! I love that kind of shit

With 9M tickets sold, this was the second biggest movie of the year in french theaters ; and what can I say except FRENCH CINEMA IS BACK BABYYYY!!!!! Extremely well shot, beautiful music, great acting, very elaborate and interesting costume designs and crazy locations... Even I who doesn't like period dramas had an absolute blast. I can't believe this is three hours long. The rhythm is so good that it didn't feel like that at all, it flew by.
So. Funny story, i thought i knew what the story of the Count of Monte Cristo was..? But as the plot kept going, i was thinking to myself "damn, the part i know must be pretty late in the film because i don't recognise anything." And well, that's because what i thought was the Count of Monte Cristo was actually the story of The Phantom of the Opera... 😭😭😭 as you can probably tell i'm more knowledgeable on movies than classic literature... But it's good because I was able to be surprised by every twist and turn, as I actually didn't know the story at all. The writing is terrific. Those dialogues... Chef kiss. WATCH THIS!!

THE weirdest project of the year for sure. WHO greenlit this?? They deserve a raise. This was HILAAARIOUS. The two main ladies are such original and interesting characters and the actresses (who are not famous at all) deliver one of the best performance of the year. I'm not kidding. Very interesting film-making choices, very snappy and fun dialogues, super weird and unusual characters. While it is one continuous story, the way the scenes play one after the other makes it feel like a compilation of short films (especially with the nature of the cast, it's a lot of french comedians and miscellaneous celebrities). The whole story is inspired by a crime that happened in France (probably the most famous one in recent history (i provided a link but be warned, this is about a family annihilator)) and specifically inspired by a news story where a man was mistakenly identified as the prime suspect of that crime even tho he looks nothing like him. Some parts of the film get way, WAY more dark than i could ever have expected. We see the crime happen and it's absolutely nightmarish but also super interesting, i loved the sound design. Some scenes are also downright gore and sordid. But i loved it. You wouldn't think it works to mix all these different genres in one film but it does. The film walks a fine line between creepy and funny and it does it perfectly. Can't wait to watch that one again.
While you can try if you want, i do not recommend watching this film if you're not french. Sorry. I don't think the humor holds up if you don't have the cultural references and don't know the cast. Also i just don't think the humor would translate well.

I do NOT understand why so many people hate this one?!?! Keep in mind that this is my first Ti West film, so i have nothing to compare it to. I haven't seen the rest of the "Mia Goth trilogy". But this was very fun? This is a very strange concept, it's basically an anti-horror movie. Like, every time something or someone threatens this woman, SHE destroys it. Litteraly in the first 20min there's a bloke who tries to mug her and she CBTs him graphically. Like wtffff 😭😭😭 I LOVED IT. Maxxxine might be one of the most iconic female characters of the year.
The way the film handles prostitution feels very liberal, empowerment and all that. But besides that the main character is unexpectedly treated very respectfully? Prostitution only appears in the first act if i remember correctly. We only see one graphic sexual act and it's on screen for like 10 seconds, and it doesn't involve the main character. She never gets even partially naked, like at some point she is asked to show her breasts at a casting call and it just cuts away pretty naturally. When there's gore and physical violence on screen, it's more often than not against men. Definitely an oddity for the horror genre.
The film is also a pastiche of 70s/80s cinema and it works super great. It's shot on film and it looks beautiful, the editing and the sound design are very intentional and purposeful, it's all well thought out, down to the credit that appear with this super recognisable hue around the text, this brings you back to the 70s instantly. The performances are top notch. Elizabeth Debicki is great as usual, Mia Goth is off the charts. She oozes style and charisma. The film has a super fun and satisfying ending, i loved the commentary about the satanic panic. I'm very curious about the rest of the trilogy now! I'll try to watch it this year. I really liked this project ! Maxxxine marry me
trailer
That's it for July/August/September ! I also went to see Fly me to the Moon, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1, Les Fantômes and The Trouble with Jessica but i have nothing whatsoever to say about them...

GQ Magazine Interview (2024)
Tumblr media
It’s about four hours before the Los Angeles premiere of Wicked, and the actor Jonathan Bailey, who’s playing the male lead Fiyero in the feverishly-anticipated movie musical, is busy… playing Lego?
“I’m currently constructing,” he tells me, “the Atlantic Ocean of a globe, which I'm building as I travel around the globe [for Wicked].”
In a sunny Santa Monica hotel, in the middle of a whirlwind international promo tour for Wicked—director Jon M. Chu’s screen adaptation of the megahit Broadway musical, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo—the award-winning star of Bridgerton and Fellow Travelers says that playing with Lego has become one of the things helping him stay centered. “Lego’s 18+ Adult level, that's what gets me going these days,” he says.
It is, after all, a high-stakes moment for Bailey. Fan expectations for Wicked are sky-high, and every detail of the project’s rollout has been the subject of intense scrutiny.
Even Bailey’s seemingly innocuous decision to wear shorts to a photocall for Wicked in Australia made waves, and photos of Bailey in black pleated shorts and a sheer black long-sleeved polo by Giuliva Heritage quickly went viral—the gams seen ‘round the world.
“The idea of a very relaxed, elevated day look is something I've always enjoyed,” Bailey tells me, about the fit. “And of course, in Sydney and down under, we should be showing down under.”
“It's funny,” he continues. “Sometimes, you feel like what you decide to wear chooses you. The waist, the cut of the trouser, the pleat, and the waist—it made me feel very elegant.”
When the photos spread on social media, comments sections buzzed with people wondering about Bailey’s leg workout. Inquiring minds want to know: how does the Winkie prince get those legs?
“Well, they should be dancing from a very young age,” he says, laughing. “It's encouraging your sons to dance and do ballet. I played rugby growing up as well, and I play a lot of tennis now. I did ballet for a good few years, and I think the way that the body responds to that and gymnastics, I think, that's the key… Lots of handstands and deep squats.”
Another moment on the press tour that’s already gone viral is a video where Bailey talks about a small travel mishap during pre-production, in which every part of his Fiyero costume wound up stuck in airport limbo—except the footwear. "There's an amazing photo,” Bailey teases in the clip, “that no one's ever gonna see of me, in nothing but my boots, which sort of felt right for Fiyero somehow.”
When I bring it up, he reiterates firmly: “Never to be seen.” But maybe, I propose, that photo finally makes an appearance in a future museum retrospective on his career, the kind London’s Victoria and Albert Museum does for Britain’s most iconic performers? “Literally, let's not get ahead of ourselves,” he says, laughing. “There'll be maybe some shed in the Cotswolds that will be some sort of weird relic to my former career. Maybe it will be laminated there.”
It’s been exciting to watch Bailey’s red-carpet evolution in the last few years. Early in his career, the actor mainly stuck to more traditionally buttoned-up suit-and-tie looks. But recently, there’s a newfound confidence and playfulness to his red carpet style, a willingness to flip some red carpet traditions—and a frisky inclination to show off that body.
Part of that confidence has to do with just how fit the actor is. “I probably am in the best shape I've ever been,” he says. But it goes deeper than that: “I honestly think it reflects a confidence in identity, in one's self,” he says. “You realize how important it is just to be completely yourself.”
“Jonny is a whimsical, mischievous delight, so we try to show that through his sartorial choices,” says Emma Jade Morrison, his stylist. “He is joyful and cheeky, with an old soul, so I love to modernize classic shapes through colors, materials and saucy bits of skin.”
For the Los Angeles premiere of Wicked last night, Bailey once again turned heads in an exciting ensemble—this time, in custom Versace, in a slinky, body-caressing chainmail shirt paired with immaculately white trousers, ruby-red slippers and a poppy boutonniere. (The cherry on top? A mischievous tuft of chest hair peeking out from that Versace shirt.)
“It was Donatella’s idea to allow me to wear the chain mail, the iconic Versace chain mail,” he says. “It's so part of the Versace DNA, and I wanted that DNA pumping around my veins tonight. It's a beautiful thing to wear.”
Bailey, who calls himself “obsessed” with the ‘90s, remembers the iconic image of Kate Moss in a Versace chainmail dress from 1999. “The thing that I remember is the way that it clings to the form of the body. It feels sculptural and sexy,” he says. “All I can see is the way she moved, [the way it] caressed every nook and curve and cranny… I'm excited to be celebrating nooks and crannies tonight.”
“From my moodboard, Donatella and her team honed in on two images of Errol Flynn and Cary Grant and put their iconic Versace twist on them,” Jade Morrison tells me. “We kept the shapes classic and the shirt a bit slouchy to stay true to Jonny’s style. There is literally no material as sexy as Versace chainmail and using chainmail felt like a princely nod to the Winkie Prince.”
“We loved the red slippers with the poppy—as Dorothy says, there’s no place like home, especially since the LA premiere was the weekend before Remembrance Day in the U.K.,” Morrison continues. “Versace also made us a Winkie Prince bomber—a perfect ode to varsity jackets of the 1930s and something that Fiyero would absolutely wear himself.”
“That's the thing about Wicked, and that's the thing about Oz,” Bailey adds. “It's like visually and thematically so inspiring to so many generations that when you work with creators like Donatella, and you work with fashion houses who have so much to say and [we have] so much respect [for] and so much in archive that we feel so nostalgic about these fashion pieces, it's like everyone just goes off like fireworks. And you come up with something incredible.”
Last time Bailey and I spoke, we were doing a mini pub crawl through Manhattan’s West Village with his Fellow Travelers co-star Matt Bomer last year, to talk about their work on the acclaimed series. During that interview, Bailey talked about the tricky balance he had to strike in order to shoot Wicked, Bridgerton and Fellow Travelers simultaneously. Now, with the benefit of hindsight, he sees how the projects inadvertently informed each other—and emboldened him as an actor.
“I just look back on Fellow Travelers with such fond memories,” he tells me now. “The confidence in telling that story, I think, is actually present throughout Fiyero. Wicked is so about identity. The resonance of the themes is even louder I think on film... Playing Tim [on Fellow Travelers] just beforehand allowed me to sort of maybe expand the part in a way that I wouldn't have done otherwise.”
At Wicked’s Sydney premiere last week, Bailey experienced a full circle moment that left him in tears. “I sat with my sister, who’s based in Sydney, and had my two nieces watching it for the first time in front of an audience. And I felt a volcanic sense of emotion,” he says.
“Me and my sister went to the back and had a pint and we both just had a good cry. What Jon Chu has achieved in this film is exactly the sort of cinematic experience, that my whole entire family loved [when I was] growing up, and it's what inspired me in the first place to want to [become an actor].”
At 36, Bailey is a veteran of the stage and the screen—he’s stolen scenes in Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s acclaimed pre-Fleabag series Crashing, held his own with Patti LuPone in a revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Company, and broken hearts in his award-winning turn on Fellow Travelers. But he’s hardly jaded and still finds himself overcome with emotion during various career milestones. “The wonder hasn't left me,” he says.
It’s that same wonder he hopes to impart to young viewers watcing Wicked. “The idea that some lads somewhere might turn to their mom and dad and go, ‘I really want to dance’? That's what it's all about.”
“And also,” he says, with a laugh, “they'll get bloody good legs in the process.”

KNY music headcannons - modern AU
this was 100% inspired by @peachdies, because radiohead and giyuu go together a little to well
━━━━━━♡♥♡━━━━━━
❀ Himejima Gyomei - IDK man, I feel like his top Spotify track of the year would be "peaceful river noises" or "subtle ocean sounds." He probably also listens to a good amount of alternative rock like the Cranberries. His guilty pleasure is Dua Lipa, but don't tell anyone that.
❀ Shinazugawa Sanemi - Dad rock for SURE. Gets down to Guns n Roses, Def Leppard, and Van Halen. Is secretly a HUGE Nicki Minaj stan, but would literally die before anyone found that out. I had to come back to him after writing this cause MY GOD HE'S ALSO SUCH A LANA DEL REY FAN LMAO.
❀ Obani Iguro - Refuses to pay for Spotify premium but also constantly skips songs so half of his listening time is ads. He likes grunge punk like the Garden and Foo Fighters, but secretly cries to Mitski.
❀ Tokito Muichiro - Super into the indie scene and only a little bit pretentious about it. Strokes, Pixies, Arctic Monkeys - super vibey.
❀ Tomioka Giyuu - Listens to actual underground music and a lot of smaller bands, but also listens to a lot of Radiohead and the likes. Went through a huge emo phase with Panic! at the Disco and My Chemical Romance and still cries to Helena from time to time.
❀ Rengoku Kyojuro - Imagine Dragons makes him hyped for the morning:D But alongside that he actually has some banger music taste as well. Gets down to some City Girls and Nicki Minaj from time to time. Not afraid to shake some ass.
❀ Kanroji Mitsuri - Love love loves pop and dabbles in k-pop as well! I'm thinking Doja Cat, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Lizzo, Loona, Red Velvet, and the likes. Enjoys dancing around to it as she gets ready in the morning and holds her own little concerts in her room.
❀ Kocho Shinobu - A true toss up I think. I can see her liking metal like Slipknot and Korn, but I also see her as a Fiona Apple lover so it's hard.
❀ Uzui Tengen - God he's so unbearable. Listens to a lot of soundcloud stuff and thinks he's better than you because of it. He probably also listens to a lot Lady Gaga and will probably play you a super popular song of her's like Just Dance and say something like "it's super underground you probably haven't even heard it."
❀ Kamado Tanjiro - AJR and Imagine Dragons, probably.
❀ Kamado Nezuko - Physically cringes when her brother turns his music on. She's eclectic, though. She hangs out around Mitsuri and Kanao a lot, so bubblegum pop and goth are worming their way into her heart. Traditionally she enjoys a lot of indie pop, though (think Clairo and such.)
❀ Shinazugawa Genya - Dad rock like Sanemi, except more refined somehow. He also branches out more and got super into QUEEN and the Rolling Stones.
❀ Tsuyuri Kanao - Godly music taste, I'm convinced she and Giyuu are silently judging everyone. Goth music but like real good goth music (as a goth music enjoyer I'm projecting.) Joy Division, Depeche Mode, Type O Negative, all the classics.
❀ Hashibira Inosuke - I don't know man....... He probably plays all of his music off of a rock. I seriously cannot decide for him. Probably listens to whatever his friends are listening to.
❀ Agatsuma Zenitsu - ONE DIRECTION BABY. But for real, I feel like he would love love love the Beach Boys! A BLACKPINK fan as well.
❀ Kokushibo - He and Kanao would get along so well because I also think he's another goth king, probably more like a Sisters of Mercy type of guy. He hates Douma's music taste, and will eavesdrop on Akaza playing Phoebe Bridgers from time to time and get emotional.
❀ Douma - BLASTS Megan thee Stallion throughout the infinity castle and knows every word to every one of her songs.
❀ Akaza - Phoebe Bridgers fan until the day he dies.
❀ Kibutsuji Muzan - White noise.

Music Taste Of The Four Lords
What follows is a list of various music I think the lords would like, each get a few artists and/or song they'd like and a theoretical favorite song. Of course a question could not get more subjective but that doesn't mean I'm taking criticism lol. Be advised I barely listen to modern music (past 10 years or so) with a few exceptions so it may be stunted that direction.
Alcina Dimitrescu: Lady Dimitrescu would definitely like a lot of stuff from her own time, classic big band, Cab Calloway, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra (I know he's later), Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, these are the only men she can put up with besides Ramon Salazar and the Duke. She probably toured with half of the fuckers. I think she'd pick and choose from all the decades after that. She'd like Fleetwood Mac, I know, I don't know why but she does, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, and positively fucking loves Laufey. But her favorite song is "Dancing Queen by ABBA", fucking change my mind. She'd also probably really like ABBA on the whole, "Dancing queen, young and sweet, only 117".
Salvatore Moreau: I'm sorry but I have to let you all down with Moreau, I can only think of the song he cries to and his favorite song. He cries to "Hurt by Johnny Cash" and his favorite song is "Don't Stop Believin' by Journey" this being his favorite song is non-negotiable, I just know it'd be.
Karl Heisenberg: Well, obviously, this man would love Classic Rock and Metal. I'd say for artists he'd like Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, The Strokes, and Nirvana (He'd def love Grunge). I don't know many heavy metal bands but he'd probably like them along with Cassandra. For a favorite song I'm going to go out on a limb and say "And Romeo Had Juliette" I just think he'd love the forlorn romanticism of it all, lyrics in particular. I'm also an ardent Donnaberg shipper and I think the song definitely works for them. No way I projected my favorite song onto Heisenberg, no way, right? His close second favorite song is "The Man Who Sold The World by Nirvana", it's a Bowie song, Nirvana did a cover before Cobain died.
Donna Beneviento: For Donna she'd probably have some really calm jazz for Angie to interrupt while she works, Miles Davis, maybe Brubeck, I'd guess. I also think for sure think she'd love the Talking Heads. But I can't think of many artists for Donna so here are songs. I'd say she's probably a lot more eclectic than the others lords musically so it varies more. "Crazy by Gnarls Barkley", "Say It Ain't So by Weezer", "We'll Meet Again by Vera Lynn", "The Killing Moon by Echo and the Bunnymen", "Wish I Knew You by The Revivalists", "Heroes by David Bowie", "House of the Rising Sun by The Animals". And for her favorite song I'd say "Cigarette Daydreams by Cage The Elephant". It also has a little bit of Donnaberg in it to me if you think in terms of them so I'm biased.

The grand unified theory of Good Omens S2 hangs on - you guessed it - a double meaning (and art). *Part 2*
Part 1 l Part 2 l Part 3 l Part 4 l Part 5 l The End?
This is major spoilers for season 3 territory. You have been warned. I'm also going to split this into parts because wow, I have so many ✨Clues✨! Come with me on a long and magical journey through time, and trust that I will bring you back to the double meaning of it all very soon.
The second thing that Oofs and Ouches my Bones specifically about the art direction in S2 are the time/place cards. You know, the good old rope and stick cards we all know and love are back in S2E1! - wait a minute...
Tumblr media
Oh. Okay. I guess we're going with a huge organ swell happening in the music at the same time as a gothic font. Seems... awfully religious of them. Let's try again. S2E2?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh shit. 1950s classic Hollywood biblical epic title cards? Really? Okay. But we've already been to London in 1941 in S1 so surely they would just use the same exact title card as last season because it's the SAME SCENE in S2E4 and-
Tumblr media
OH GOD it's a black and white classic horror flick! Be afraid! Cower in fear from the zombies that eat brains. So...I think we're getting a feeling this season that they massively changed up the art direction for the all the Minisode title cards. Except did they? Wait, how did the Resurectionists Minisode start?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That seems... very normal. No crazy "Hollywood" title cards here. And they just punted all the classic rope and stick cards that tell us when and where everything takes place in the whole season?
Tumblr media
They did not. Y'all there are TWO competing ways of showing the audience Time/Place going on in the same episodes. One is canonically familiar, and the other is new, and very *hack-esque*. If only there was another reference to classic cinema somewhere in the title sequence of each episode to explain what was going on with these things AHHHHHHH-
Tumblr media
(If you haven't watched till the end of the opening credits) There's a dude with a big stick waving something in front of the projector in the booth each episode, and presumably this has an impact on what we see on the literal movie screen projecting bits of the story in front of us. So what do we see in front of us from the projector each episode, exactly?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well for one, we can certainly see that Neil Gaiman found a really interesting place to put his name in the openings... right over a lot of the fishy things in each minisode is a FUN WAY TO DO LAMPSHADING, NEIL. At this point you're screaming at me "But what does this have to do with the gangsters, and Maggie, and everything else?" My friend, I am here to tell you that I'm starting to get the feeling The Metatron has been adding bits and pieces (not very well, mind you, he's a hack writer) to change the outcome of season 2.
Would you like to see more clues, and the prestige reveal of what the double meaning is? Part 3 right here!

time for random music recs with Crowe! here are five things I discovered recently that rip. none of them sound like each other. remember that I am an insane person.
WASH IT ALL OFF - foetus. okay so my partner is doing deep dives into various forms of occultism and chaos magic for a writing project and I am slowly circling the history of industrial music because of who I am as a person. which means they mentioned something about J.G. Thirlwell the other day from the area they know him from and I excitedly chimed in with what I knew him from (producing and playing on some of Coil's best records and generally running with that whole extended scene) and then I realised I've never really listened to Foetus (and all its alternate names) and honestly this song fucks so hard I haven't been able to get past it. the unhinged circus organ lick! SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICSADOMASOCHISTIC! Thirlwell also scored, uh, the entirety of THE VENTURE BROS. so.
BLODYN GWYRDD - tristwch y fenywod. another occultist rec! Phil Hine wrote some great shit about queerness and chaos magic in the 80s and 90s and also he maintains a charmingly low-key online presence chatting with other hobbyists and weirdos (appears to be pals with Justin Hopper of Old Weird Albion and of course Ghost Box Records). anyway he recommended this Welsh psych folk goth freak folk band on his bluesky account (shhh I'm so CHARMED) and I'm immediately obsessed. this is the kind of wet mossy slime magick music you want for reading an issue of Hellebore Magazine or Plastiboo's VERMIS or going off into the woods alone. synthy drums, off-kilter hammer dulcimer, drone and howl. fucking NICE.
KITE WAR - hyukoh + sunset rollercoaster. my friend JD @weekenddracula posted he was listening to this album while journaling at the library and something perked my interest -- it FUCKS. collaboration between two of the biggest names in indie rock (funk/soul/r&b/little bit of 70s dreampop and classic Japanese citypop) in Taiwan and Korea. so much fizzy, jammy production, great Mamas And The Papas-esque/2007 US/Canadian indie rock layered vocals, saxophone that skims over you like a wartenberg wheel. grooves for DAYS. obsessed. if you like Nujabes, Handsomeboy Techninique, Cornelius, or RM's recent killer album Right Person, Wrong Place, you'll dig this. stimulating but also incredibly relaxing.
ADVENTURES IN GREEN FOOT PRINTING - james ferraro. so I guess this bloke was doing vaporwave before it was vaporwave? I've only explored a little of his discography but this album (FAR SIDE VIRTUAL, 2011) is incredible. vibey, tactile, the sounds of 90s tech optimism with room for play and invention. this is a really, really playful track, with cascades of giddy piano and synthy keyboard choruses.
YUCKY BLUCKY FRUITCAKE - doechii. did you hear this when it was a tiktok personal introduction meme? complete disservice to a great, weird little autobiography, playing with sound, playing with genre, playing with confession, playing with expectation. Doechii's vocals are a fucking rubber band. there's shades of theatre kid; the riff on Paramore's "The Only Exception" is incredible. the bridge of "you forgot to take the chicken out" is the most oldest-daughter shit I've ever heard in my life. this is an INCREDIBLE track, sampling without sampling, irreverent and earnest. anyway Doechii's recent mixtape rules and so does her Tiny Desk Concert. uh. I'm gay

So, I went to see Back to the Future: The Musical today. The special effects (including an Actual Delorean) were top-tier, with very good use of multiple layers of projection to look like the Delorean was going up to 88 mph and then traveling through time. I cracked up at the pre-show "Please turn off your cell phones, they did not exist in 1985" projected messages.
The choreography for the dance numbers was also very good, and I have zero complaints about any of the actors except the guy who played Doc Brown with so much Comedic Mugging and Funny Voice that I wouldn't have been able to understand even half of what he said if so much of the dialogue wasn't ripped direct from the movie. The actor for George McFly excelled at physical comedy, the actor for Lorraine (Marty's mom) played her character as EXTREMELY horny while the Marty actor dug into the "aghghghgh nononono" response. And there was some very funny bits with diagetic chorus suddenly becoming non-diagetic (i.e. what seemed like the extras just doing a song and dance number because this is a musical being noticed by the main cast).
They also replaced the Libyan Terrorists storyline with Doc Brown having a failure in his antique radiation suit while handling plutonium and dying of acute radiation poisoning while Marty drives the Delorean over 88 mph in an attempt to get help (the alternate final timeline has him surviving it because he gets a Very Modern Radiation Suit vs the OG movie storyline where he buys a bulletproof vest to counteract the Libyan Terrorists shooting him). They also skipped over the "Hey, Chuck Berry, listen to this white boy inspire you to create an early classic Rock 'n' Roll song" nonsense.
But. The script. It was just the thinnest of scaffolds to go from moment to moment of, "Hey, do you remember this famous line from the OG movie? Here's another line that you probably remember! Oh, remember this moment? We're recreating it on stage, yay!"
Overall, aside from a few peak special effects moments, it all came off as a theme park show, and not a particularly good one. I salute all the actors for their efforts (except the guy who played Doc Brown, good grief, he ruined every scene he was in, including the post-intermission song which I literally couldn't understand because he insisted on doing a Humorous Voice), but I stand by my decision to be one of the few people in the theater who didn't give it a standing ovation.

I realized that there were a bunch of "classic" (classicness in various amounts) albums that I hadn't listened to yet, so I made it a project for me to listen to one classic album a week for all of 2025.
6th/13th of January:
Grateful Dead: American Beauty
Probably a good album, but I couldn't really enjoy any songs other than Rain In A Box and Ripple, though I really enjoyed those. Maybe it's my lack of experience in country and jam, but a lot of it was a bit boring and empty, just being the same kind of sound for every song.
4.8/10
Standouts:
Ripple
Rain In A Box
13th of January:
Patti Smith: Horses
A great and energetic album. I almost had a hard time sitting still while listening to it. Even just on a first listen, I can hear the amount of influence this has had on a lot of music. Gloria could be a Courtney Barnett song, and Redondo Beach sounds reminiscent of Blondie, except, in both cases, for Patti's unusual vocals. I would've liked some more hooks, the only one I still remember is "Gloooria"
6.8/10
Standouts:
Gloria
Redondo Beach
Horses
20th of January:
Aretha Franklin: I Never Loved A Man the Way I Love You
GOD is this album smooth and groovy. Of course I knew of Aretha, I have listened to Now before, and thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the first side. The only song from this album I had heard before though, was future TikTok sensation Respect. This album was so easy to get through, no song overstayed its welcome, and every effort of every song seems to succeed. My only issue with this album, is that many of the songs lacked something to make them stand out.
8/10
Standouts:
Respect
Soul Serenade
Baby, Baby, Baby
Do Right Woman, Do Right Man
A Change Is Gonna Come
23rd of January:
Radiohead: A Moon Shaped Pool
Nothing in this album really stands out to me. Maybe that's the goal, but it's not something I like in my music. Good music for falling asleep to, in that it is so boring it'll put me to sleep. I'll probably like this album better when I listen to it a couple more times, but right now it's a bore. Also live in Oslo is by far the better version of True Love Waits.
4.2/10
Standouts:
Burn the Witch
Ful Stop
Present Tense
29th of January:
Boris: Boris at Last - Feedbacker
Ambient drone metal album. I don't know how much more I can say about it. I wish it introduced more textures and had more discernible melody, tension, or builds in energy, but no, it's pretty flat for the first and last parts. Maybe that's on purpose? The drums are really good though, and the guitar tone is very nice. Will not return to any tracks but 1 and 2 though, if I want something ambient there are better options imo.
6/10
Standouts:
Feedbacker, Pt. 2
Feedbacker, Pt. 3

The show started if not on time, then way earlier than Dir en grey usually does. Yuchi, Takumi, Mika and UtA walked on stage in silence, swirvingly grabbing their instruments. Snow or ash was falling on screen, and the tour title appeared. Then, when everyone was ready, Kyo finally entered. All members were wearing their outfits from the MOAN music video, except that Kyo didn't have the head piece/veil. Instead, he had stuck pink braids drawn back almost like large bows, except that there was no knot visible. I'm quite sure that there were two on each side of his head. Based on the reflection of the light on his skin, I'm also certain that his hair is still shaved completely, and there was a clear demarkation between the circle on the top and his blank temples, so that crown of haywires with flames or fake hair seems to be tattooed permanently.
For makeup, Kyo looked like he had black dots around his eyes, but he mainly had sparkling white circular shapes around his eyebrows and the top of his cheeks.
What I remember from Margaret is all the glitter and sparks being shown on screen.
Gloss was surprisingly bare when it comes to stage effects. There were about seven poles coming down from the ceiling with a lightbulb at their end, and that was basically what was used for the entire song.
Aishita Shinzou was the beginning of a very pop-y bunch. Kyo bounced on stage like we saw him do in one of the videos from August 2023. The lighting was a mix of green and red. I remember that when singing "aiseru", he placed his hand near his crotch and swayed seductively, not sure how to better describe it though hah. The song ends with Kyo inside a pyramidal cage made of green light beams, which he stays inside until the next song, as if truly imprisoned in the moment.
Then Candis came, and the instrumental introduction was definitely a bit different than in the footage included in EROSIO. Like some of the instruments didn't make enough sound.
Anyway, Candis was extra special because they projected the venue at which the PV was recorded above and around the members, so bam: suddenly we were teleported on set. There were seemingly screens hung everywhere to show excerpts of the PV too. And when comes the time for Iya Iya Iya, that kanji pops up behind/above Kyo in the empty space that was there.
Valentina then starts without further ado, like the band wants to give the audience no rest and if they're already playing around in their bags for one penlight, might as well get that out of the way then, in the spirit of minimizing noise.
Aaaah, Valentina. All the classic moves, Kyo's right leg folding high at the knee to hit both ankles together in emphasis of "Lie Lie Lie Lie" and the "ii" in "Nakanai watashi ga ii?", although that one is definitely accompanied by a reprobatory fist on the hips, Kyo folding his arm up and down like a chicken wing. Dance!
When the one other pop song started playing after that medley, I had a very bad feeling. It was not subtle at all, the way they grouped all the pop songs together early in the show. I apprehended how the rest would be the polar opposite. And, well...
Anyway, for now, MOAN had Kyo gesture everything like in the PV, and parts of it were projected on the screen too.
I don't remember exactly for which songs, but Kyo did a lot of robotic dance moves and he seemed to hop left and right often too, as a default.
Kuchi ni ringo also had almost no stage effect. I think it was in this song that the crowd on the first floor was covered by a layer of blue light, making them completely disappear and giving the impression that there was a lake or something. And very oddly, at no point was there any red used. In fact, right after Kyo sings "That's not the bright red color I want", there's a blue light that erupts in the centre of the stage. Like, no kidding, that's not red at all. At the end, Kyo formed a kind of wide crystal shape with his index fingers and thumbs, which he would move from his abdomen outward in different directions. "Ah I want a womb" incessantly.
...aftermath on an orange autumn background...
But more important is what happened after aftermath. Kyo stepped back to his equipment next to Takumi's and promptly sat down on a plushy but otherwise ordinary high stool chair. Then, a man walked up to him from the side of the stage while the other members played a session, improvised or not. The man wore the tour long shirt, I believe, and he never turned to look at us. He pampered Kyo's forehead and cheeks two or three times with a white towel, as if to absorb the sweat, and he also (re)applied lip stick on Kyo. It was a bit funny to witness, because Kyo kept the same posture, hands by his sides legs not moving at all, hanging straight from the seat. It was as if he was a doll, but it seemed like he minimally parted his lips to help the man apply the lipstick. Rather than a doll, that gave mostly the image of a spoiled child or something. It happened for more than one layer, so maybe gloss was applied, rather than retouching the colour every time. The man swiftly left and Kyo walked hurriedly to his mic to sing lyrics that ring a bell to me, but I couldn't tell you what they were anymore.
Houmonsha X was amazing. The PV was projected on the screen. I had to remember to breathe after a while, which I'd apparently forgotten when the song started.
At first, Kyo sang before the lyrics appeared on the screen, as per the PV's English subtitles, but he seemed to fix his timing after a couple of lines. I hadn't felt that he was too early compared to the instruments, but it was otherwise done seamlessly.
Rongai had to be one of the songs where robot dance moves were used. It was intense of course, with bright spots of light appearing at every climax. At the end, Kyo only sang the first and third/last "I kill time with the likes of you", which seemed fond just because he was staring at the crowd, so it gave the impression that he didn't mean it as much as in the recorded song. And of course, there is no reverse lyric being sung or played like in the album version.
Kawattekuremasen deshou ka? came with the surprise of projected images. They showed mainly maximized ice cubes, maybe sparks too. I was somehow too absorbed in this song to memorize much from it. Next time!
Yumemi doro (not Furusaseru - I always confuse the two!) was then played and the movie projected contained a lot of swirls. Kyo dropped to the floor and swirved left and right sloooowly on his way back to a standing position. It was so smooth, effortless despite requiring strength. Oh and he was wearing his beloved pink Margiella heels, by the way. I had actually gone to see an exhibition titled "Beyond Fiber Art" at MOMAK that day and the way his knees moved below his black lace dress really reminded me of the hypnotic flows of fabric that I witnessed earlier. And yo, the other thing about Yumemi doro is thar in the newest recording, Kyo uses more diversified tones of singing than in the demo, but in this live performance, we were able to hear even more intense switches of tones. It was ingenious.
Scarlet also involved a ton of fractal swirls and the sphere of smoke, reminding me again of the art exhibition. It was a rather powerful song too, not necessarily pop but the emphasis created by showing just a couple of the lines on screen, like: "I want love" stressed the need even more.
I'm not sure in which songs anymore, but Kyo really put his hand between his legs more than once during this show. I thought Kashikomi Kashikomi would be played eventually as a reference to that, but sadly not.
Tada, mada, watashi. was performed with such strength and emotion that it was as though it was the band's eternal, signature classic. Breath-taking, really.
Hakudaku came next and it exacerbated my feeling that we were being driven to a dire end. The video showed a young woman whose face seemed to be scarred or disfigured at least on one side.
Uso was up after that and damn, of course it was emotional too. Being on the second floor/balcony, I appreciate that when Kyo gestures the "To the eyes set on tomorrow" up to us. I think that the screen displayed some sepia scenes that gave the impression of being memories.
Then, a longer pause than usual happened, with Kyo gripping his mic stand. Finally, the piano notes of Kokyuu started and ugh, I had imagined that it would be an ending song, if the band wanted to be cruel. They were ruthless. Fuck. Most of the lyrics appeared on screen both in Japanese and the English translation underneath, right in front of Kyo. At times, he stretched his arms out to the sides as if to seize possession and emphasizs those specific lines. I think it was in this song or in another with lyrics of a similar meaning, but Kyo grabbed his chest tight with both hands when relating that he couldn't be like others. He broke down for a bit with sorrow in the middle of the song. Until...
"The sadness will never end . . For whom?"
Right after uttering this in the most soft-spoken way, like in the album recording, Kyo walked off the stage. No "oyasumi", no mic drop, no nothing. For whose sake will the sadness never end, on his birthday? Puncture my heart.
Having abided by the rule to stay quiet during the show, it took Mika waving goodbye widely for us to start clapping. It continued until or during the instrumental of Margaret, clearly doubling though as everyone joined in when sukekiyo's name was displayed on the screen. The announcement was made for the July tour of four consecutive days in Kyoto.
I wish they would have played The Hole, Frameout kara no and Kashikomi Kashikomi, but I guess there's hope for a different setlist tomorrow?

Nonbinary, this is quite obvious but still
Struggles with dysphoria a bit, alot of people see them as quite masculine when they just want to be androgynous
Some outfits include all black ones with fishnets and stuff, a cute pink and blue striped dress and a some neat accesories
Has alot of outfits in their wardrobe, just reaaaaally attached to that one sweater.

And the ps3 as well
As a older sibling idk how younger siblings work so like no kris and asriel headcanons
Chill with most people unless they are assholes or problematic.

Really jealous that they can't do magic, learnt magic tricks as a result
Pansexual

Says really morbid things sometimes as "fun facts"
Wanted to be possessed by a demon and constantly joked about it
Now that it has happened they do not enjoy it at all , and nobody believes them when they talk about it. Except maybe susie.
They do appreciate it when the player tries to do best by them. Which is rare.
They still want us gone though.
Always talks about being evil but doesn't really want to hurt anybody, they care alot about their friends.
Yeah, that's all. A lot of these are projections, tbh but I'm glad I got it down.
