Luckily during my AU, the Formation, where Gaia needs to let off more magical energy when Serafeen set off a nuke in her lab and thus spawns the 3 new classes of species (Eviolans, Youkai and Meru), she also respawns the extinct species (Orcs, gnolls, hogmen, and sprights), but different...

As in, She redesigns all 4 to not have their flaws/Just spams them to hope more survive.

Gnolls lose their nastiness (Still troll-level nasty, but they also gain a trollish-level of disease resistance, but prefer a carnivorous diet to a scavenging diet), hogmen are no longer as aggressive and gluttonous, sprights got spammed everywhere except specifically Noalen and Zareen (Lots wound up just outside cities and towns in Damiscend), and orcs... Were just put near other peoples. One being Uekoro, which saw a lotta them coming in after being taught to make their own clothes.

In general, they all managed to survive by being led by nymphs to local cities and tribes after clothing tutorials and told to play nice.

Rosaria actually maintained her clothing skill after being adopted and can make clothing out of literally any organic material.

Out of all the species, orcs managed the best just by being mid. Most groups quickly integrated into civilization, and Evangelite orc men simply wear fake mustaches.

Gnolls and hogmen were quickly enslaved in Evangeline unless their nymph teachers could quickly relay-lead them to Folkvar or the Noso Peninsula. Otherwise, both groups thrived, gnolls being the perfect lycanthrope-detectors (And Evangelite monster hunters treat them as such, having them track werewolves), and hogmen thrive in cold climates as cold-mode gorgons.

Sprights died out fast in Wokina, although the populations in Evik and Serkel thrived, and were treated as royalty for 3 centuries in Umory-Ond, as the Faerie Courts both wanted to keep them around.

Damiscend welcomed all 4 new species just like they did the other 18, and sprights quickly found themselves being handy spies, being talented in telepathic and illusion spells. Orcs managed well enough, and gnolls and hogmen became good soldiers, as gnolls made excellent trackers and hogmen were just the right mix of strength and weight that Saraia's newly made Pawn saraians were able to carry them while at high speeds in armor and making them amazing heavy cavalry.

Good question! Let's first look at the peoples who dwelled there before the Courts rose to power:

Umory-Ond was almost entirely populated by fae. Fauns were the only exception, but even then, these fauns practiced magic just as much as the fae around them did. Of course there were plenty of nymphs as well.

If Titania hadn't gone crazy and took over the continent, I think the sprights would not have gone extinct. Her conquest was particularly hard on them. If the sprights survived a couple thousand more years, they probably could have advanced their population and spells to survive better in general. There would be spright populations all over Gaia, most likely living alongside gnomes.

Spriggan's Sanctum would not exist. Green Witch would not be so hostile. Spriggans would not exist either, because Green Witch created them to retaliate against the Courts.

Most notably, faeries, Morgause, and the whole Unseelie Court would not exist!

Though Titania only managed to conquer Umory-Ond before calling it quits, her actions still had profound, far-reaching effects that touched every corner of Gaia.

I guess I should officially introduce those old characters I talked about earlier to this verse now. This is even more not-really-important-to-the-world ocs, just existing over there.

Maleena is a human girl who was born with only one arm and dyes her hair green, I don’t have explanations for that. She’s basically Pakila’s only friend who’s there to get exasperated at whatever pointless thing is pissing Pakila off this week. She also likes cats, comics, and shooting people with a water gun if they look like they need it. She won’t do it to Sineriina or Akamia though because that would turn them aquatic and she doesn’t want to be a jerk. Is also buddies with Blera, who she goes to watch cartoons with if Pakila is being unreasonable today. But at least she’s willing to tolerate Pakila. When they get older, they’re even gonna date for a while, until Maleena catches Pakila flossing and eating the stuff she flossed out of her teeth and that’s a dealbreaker.

Yeah Maleena is pretty much the exact same as my old version of her except her hair is naturally black and the M on her shirt is in Universa

Sineriina and Akamia were twin sisters enthralled and turned into mermaids as small kids, but were quickly rescued and returned to their family. And somehow they got super popular for it despite living in Zareen, because in this town people think mermaids are awesome actually.

Sineriina is Pakila’s one-sided arch-nemesis who is actually super nice and friendly, but Pakila reeeeally has a problem with how she always gets bigger applause at the school talent show by singing some lame pop song than Pakila’s magic tricks do. And also having lots of friends and shiny hair and being annoyingly loud and good at singing and having a possessive boyfriend (the purple-haired guy from that one old drawing) etc. So Pakila is always trying to sabotage Sineriina and one-up her which is getting a bit unhealthy now. One time she snooped around her dad’s stuff, found an old broken freeze ray and tried shooting Sineriina with it. It got confiscated and that ended her supervillain career, for now.

Yeah and Sineriina is wearing fake eyelashes here, I know that mermaids lose their eyelashes

Akamia is less loud and more chill than Sineriina, but everyone still thinks she’s cool. Also, she does judo (or equivalent) and can throw somebody while Sineriina is pretty wimpy. She and Pakila mostly leave each other alone, but she will be there to manhandle Pakila if she goes too far, like with that freeze ray thing.

Also:

Sineriina and Akamia’s dad is a chef who works at the same restaurant that Mr. Garnet’s sister works at. Just a coincidence. Also, they have some younger siblings but idk if i have to loomify everything

In the Project Starblast-verse, Sineriina is a fan of Skylie’s music, which of course means Pakila hates it. What you gonna do

okay I don't think I had a single proper summary written for a WIP prior to now, so thank you for encouraging me to get off my ass and write a tentative one for the maurcretia divorce fic:

At one point, Maureen never thought she could fall in love with a client of Miller Labs — but that was before Lucretia came into her life, brilliant and witty and mysterious, and Maureen is hooked, drawn as is her nature to Lucretia and her secrets.

At another point, Maureen never thought she could fall out of love with Lucretia — and she doesn't, not exactly — but nevertheless, as the pair's dueling projects near completion, the weight of secrets and stubbornness weighs heavier and heavier.

were they ever married? no one's quite sure. are they divorced? i hope to convince you that they absolutely are, in a fic coming very very soon :)

“Dropped my fantasy car keys down the fantasy parking lot sewer last night!” he exclaims, holding up his hands as if to add what can you do? “So I came back to my lab, settled down for the night, and had a whole fantasy mid-life crisis!”

I actually rewrote this one recently and it's full of STEM major in-jokes that are funny mainly to me but possibly other people as well, it's basically complete but I'm saving it for when I need to post a breather between angsty fics. speaking of,

And looming over foot of the bed is a human-shaped specter, cloaked in black shadows and a glowing crimson robe. On reflex, Taako throws an arm over Lup, clutching his wand.

I wrote most of this one just yesterday, and it occupies a very specific place on the hurt-comfort spectrum that I honestly don't know how to articulate 😭

putting aside the idea of agency in fiction & how people react to its theme in fictional characters the topic of mbd & your url reminded me. ac was kind of an emotional read for me i wonder how that rogue comfortunits doing. we see a lot of mbs perspective obviously but im curious as to how the universe functions outside of its coloring, like we already know it separates augmented humans from humans in a way that humans themselves dont bc of the threat level to it... on the comfortunit side of things there is so much left vague that when you compare it to the framework mb had to work within is both curious and horrifying. setting aside the horrifying stuff for a second what the hell would actual patches for a comfortunit look like. NEW THIS UPDATE: -added pathways to help humans deal with 2 New stages of Grief (Astral Projection and Turbodenial) -Removed ability to Milk Their Prostate at 35mph after it was deemed too dangerous

artificial condition is one of my faves of the series! it's insanely hard to pick favorites and that speaks to just how well-constructed this series is (where is the beginning! and where is the end?! this stretching forward of events, it's so beautiful and seamless and such an experience in emotion, so raw and direct from the source like wow this feels real, this is someone discovering emotion, embracing it!!)

i adore the comfortunits, and i've talked before about how reading this series makes me feel as a sexworker, as a kind of alterhuman/otherhearted 'actual' comfortunit, but i can't remember if it was on this blog or starblaster. if i find the posts i'll edit this ask and add them.

Some goals for this project:

Buy a telescope and a star chart; obviously learn how to use them

Volunteer at a local astronomical society, learn the ins and outs and then help people who are also new

Keep this blog updated as a progress page of sorts; new photos, research, or any random things

Granted, it is the end of spring break and I’m being optimistic about this project. It may take until the summer to actually get started, but as of now I’m planning on buying the Orion StarBlast so I don’t go bankrupt.

Still Much That Is Fair: Star Wars Prequels: Baby Obi-Wan tries to kill himself and ends up in the future instead. I LOVE angst and LOVE to write characters suicidal, but DON'T love major character death. So anytime I can find a way to "kill" a character and bring them back I'm into it.

The Parent Trap(pred in an Umbrella): TAZ Balance AU where Barry and Lup were dating Lucretia. Lucretia didn't know she was pregnant when she fed her journals to Fischer, but here we are now. Or, The Director of the Bureau of Balance and The Last of the Red Robes are co-parenting twins together. I adore kid fics, I adore Barry and Lucretia (individually and as members of the Blupcretia polycule), and I adore drama.

one more last try i'm gonna get the ending right: The Umbrella Academy: AU where Five has a kid during his (comics-canon) manslut days in the Commission. This changes some things. Again, I LOVE kidfics and I love Five, but also!! I love the idea of an abused kid growing up to be a lot like his father in a lot of ways but not being a terrible dad! It's parallels, baby.

Baby Bird Angus AKA Nesting and Taking Flight: TAZ Balance: I'm counting this as one story because it basically is. Taako is Angus' biological dad. He was carrying him when they left on the Starblaster. Angus grows up weird because I didn't want to make them all deal with late pregnancy, labor, and infant every year for 100 years.

when i'd fight you use to tell me I was brave: TAZ Balance: Kravitz has to prevent Lucretia from killing herself feat. weird time nonsense! I LOVE angst and suicidal characters, as stated before, and I LOVE convoluted time nonsense!!

After Project Starblast, all monsters at the time gained souls, and many would after being born afterwards, although no one knew what this meant for some...

After he was purchased by a rich Evangelite who wanted one in secret, he was a well-kept secret by his owner's servants, until one day he yipped a little too loud near some Evangelite guards, who found him and killed him. His owner could do nothing, although the oddest thing happened...

DIVINITY

His owner mourned Random Poffle until she purchased another who looked just like him, because it was him, resurrected as a divine, although none except divines would know this.

Once again I’m forcing the entire lg fandom to look at my crap drawings. Anyway, I figured I should finally give my oc-verse a name. I don’t think it’s that different from the canon except it’s a bit siller and some made-up guys are also there. It’s the LG NiiVerse. Dumb name but can’t think of a better one

God damn this drawing and photo is crappy but I think it gets the point across. DarkwingPhoenix described my verse as the LG version of Spongebob and i don't know how to feel about that.

I imagine Dr. Awesomeness has constantly constricted pupils and her eyes are super sensitive to light, probably can’t see shit without them goggles. And also permanently red and bloodshot like I said earlier

I bet after Amber has zapped her in the eyes, she’s not gonna wait for her vision to go back to normal and just rips out her eyes and makes them regenerate because she thinks that’s less embarrassing. They grow back just as fucked up as they used to be.

Yue lives in Viersen, where most of Zareen’s red elves are. In the Project Starblast-verse, she moves to Damiscend after it gets destroyed.

Noros is pan and Satara is aroace, she thinks her brother doing stupid shit to impress his crushes is hilarious tho And Pakila and Maleena will date for a while when they're older, but break up after Maleena catches Pakila flossing and eating the stuff she flossed out of her teeth and that's a dealbreaker.

Mr. Garnet joined the bad guys because when he was a kid, the other kids made fun of his comically large bowtie

Since my AU is already kinda silly, I'm thinking Sineriina and some of her friends are some kinda kid superheroes and she uses her mermaidism to help people. This pisses off Pakila and she decides to become a kid supervillain with some stuff she stole from her dad, but is shitty at it. Finds Awesomeness' old broken freeze ray and tries to shoot Sineriina with it

And I guess I should explain that one old "You're jealous of her fingerprints now" drawing: Pakila is randomly hyperfixating on criminology and notices that all her fingerprints are ulnar loops, which are the most common type. Later at school they're doing finger painting and she looks at Sineriina's painting and notices she has several arches, which is the rarest type. So Pakila gets unreasonably upset at Sineriina having more unusual fingerprints than her and Maleena is all "why tf do you care lmao"

A gnome enters the station, flanked by a couple of excited-looking scientists: people who have been working on the Starblaster project. The gnome's feed ID reads Captain Davenport, and indicates that he's head of the mission crew. The ship lies half-constructed in the bay, and all their voices echo in the space, recently vacated of construction workers for the evening.

(Late evening. This project has fostered an absolutely bewildering obsession in people. None of them get angry about working overtime. They even volunteer for it, without including questions about pay. It's unnerving.)

Davenport talks with the others about boring technical things for a while. Then he dismisses the other two, and just walks around admiring the ship's insides, because apparently there's something interesting to glean from that, even though he should already have all the design specifications.

"You're magnificent," he says. Despite his augmentations, he probably can't feel the whole room's feed, taken over by one massive artificial presence, swelling with pride.

Then, unfortunately, he looks at me.

"SecUnit," he says, and it's not a command or direct question, so I can get away with pretending not to acknowledge him. "How are you?" Ugh.

"This unit is functioning at optimal capacity," I respond. I'm really hoping he'll get bored and leave. And be so bored with this conversation that he never talks to or looks at me ever again. It hasn't worked so far.

Captain Davenport sighs, a small and controlled sound. He sounds uncomfortable, trying to make conversation with a killing machine. I put more of my focus into the media I'm discreetly watching. The ship peeks at it through my feed, like a huge hulking beast leaning over my shoulder to share a metaphorical display screen.

When Davenport opens his eyes, he wasn't standing in the wrestling ring. Instead, he's sitting in a straight-backed chair at a round table in a dim room. To his left, a much younger Magnus is sitting, his chin propped up on his hands and leaning forward to look at a projection on the table. To his right, an even younger Lucretia sits, tense and clenching her jaw.

In front of him, the projection is changing. He can see Lup carefully rearranging the pieces. Thousands of little white threads seep the center of it, reaching into other parts of the projection, other planes, and realities. Lup glances at Lucretia, frowning, and says,

"If that barrier cuts off everything from outside, you risk severing the bonds between this world and the rest of existence." All at once, a bubble surrounds the middle of the projection. Like Lup had just said, the threads get cut, and fall loose. "A world cut off like that… I’m, I’m sorry Lucretia, but it… it won’t survive."

"You don’t know that," Lucretia says and Davenport could properly hear the desperation in her voice, this second time around. "We don’t know anything about what the Light is capable of. Even if that’s true, fine, this world has some lean years until we starve The Hunger out, but please, I’m begging you, just— just think about it."

Lup looks like she wants to protest so, for the second time, Davenport cuts in.

"I think we should consider both of these," he says and all eyes are drawn to him again. "But I... Lucretia, you've given me an idea, if you'll- if you'll indulge me." Lucretia's eyes and wide. She gives a quick nod. Lup doesn't say anything, but she's not arguing yet, which he considers a "go ahead". He sends a quick, silent apology to the Taako from the future- from the old future- for stealing his idea. Davenport takes out his wand and the projection goes back to how it had originally started, with the threads bonds reaching out into all the different planes.

"This is the Hunger, right?" Davenport says, as he conjures a black disc to slowly start approaching the planes. "It's its own separate plane, technically. So, uh, taking Lucretia's bubbling idea, and- and using it elsewhere, on the Hunger-" he waves his wand towards the black disc and bubbles it. The bond threats stay intact. "It would both, uh. Keep the Hunger self-contained."

"Huh," Lup says, eyes fixed on the projection.

"Huh," Lucretia echoes.

"Because we don't- we don't know what splitting the Light apart would do," Davenport says, very much knowing what it would do. "The thrall of the Light-"

"Cravablity," Magnus interrupts.

"The Cravablity," Davenport corrects, just to see Magnus grin. "Is strong enough to attract the entire Hunger, when the Light is intact. Even if we split it apart into- what percentage was it again?"

"About fifteen percent strength," Barry says.

"Into fifteen percent strength," Davenport says, nodding. "It might not stop the Thr- the Cravablitiy. Will it stop the Hunger from feeling it? Probably. But what will happen when the people of that plane feel the Thrall- fuck, feel the Cravablity of these items? They'll be powerful and the Light- the Light corrupts, guys, have we forgotten that? Who's to say the Re- the items won't corrupt, too, and destroy the whole world themselves?"

Lup sits back in her chair, letting out a frustrated sigh.

"Who's to say these items will do worse than the Hunger?" she argues. "That's a chance we might have to take."

"Also," Barry puts in, glancing between him and Lucretia. "Correct me if I'm wrong, Luce, but wouldn't we have to be on the Hunger for you to cast that spell?"

"We would," Lucretia says, grimacing. "It's not- it's not a thing I can do at a distance."

"Are we willing to risk the Starblaster being inside the Hunger?" Barry asks, looking fully at Davenport now. "You're a great Captain, I trust you, but- we've never tried to get into it. And there's no guarantee we'd make it out, either. Wouldn't it be better to try the plan with splitting apart the Light, and then try a different one if that fails?"

"Any of these plans have to be final," Davenport says. "The items, Lucretia's shield, whatever- they all will put an end to what's been making us travel this whole time- the Light. Lup scrubs at her face with her hands. Barry bites his lip.

"You're right," Lucretia says. "And if we manage to contain the Hunger within itself, that'd- that'd be the best option, right? Neither of our plans accounted to what happens to the other planes if we let the Hunger go elsewhere."

"Fuck," Lup says. "Yeah, okay, you're right. But what if we die trying to do that? What if we all just, like, die. And get eaten by the Hunger?"

"It's better than having the items kill innocent people in the wrong hands," Davenport shoots back. "And it's better than cutting off the bonds of the entire world. Lup I'm- I'm not trying to argue, or say your plan is bad. But you said ages ago you didn't want to be the one to destroy a whole world and I- I have a bad feeling that's what the items would do."

"I know," Lup bit out. "I'm just-" she cut herself off, running her hands through her hair. "I'm tired of running."

"I know," Davenport says.

"I trust you," Lup says. "All of you, I really do. And I'm all for whatever plan hurts fewer people, alright? Whatever it takes, I'm on board. You're right when you say there's too many uncalculated risks with the idea Barry and I had and it's- no offense, babe, but it's better than cutting the bonds of the entire planar system."

"None taken," Lucretia says quietly.

"So I'm fine with the, uh. The bubbling the Hunger plan. I just wanna stop the fucking thing once and for all."

"All in favor of the bubbling the Hunger plan?" Davenport asks, heart racing. Lup raises her hand first, not quite looking at him. Then Magnus, and Merle, and Lucretia, and Taako, and Barry. Davenport raises his own hand, a stir of confidence in his chest.

"Alright," he says, lowering his hand after a deafening moment of silence. They all look so young, staring back at him with a trusting look in their eyes he hasn't seen in years. He swallows hard. "I believe we can do this. It's gonna be- I'm not gonna lie, guys, it's gonna be hard. But we're gonna fight just as hard back. And we're gonna win."
