I just want to make analysis in the pjsk fandom without having a person coming out of the woods to say how I'm overthinking things, I genuinely hate this fandom sometimes.

i really dont get why or how people completely exclude or water down nene and emu’s importance in a lot of fics and fanart with ruikasa its like. I mean yes even in canon theres a lot of moments with just them but acting like emu and nene dont exist or making an excuse to push them away is Insane… Do you not get bored…. ?? They all work so well together and all of their dynamics make them. Them. So good

but anyways i finally found a way to make the Tsukasa Gets His Ears Pierced Because of Saki idea i had rotting really good i was worried about any chance of emunene being excluded because i Cant function if theyre not in my fics and playing important roles. It feels so wrong. but while i was walking up the stairs at school my mind hit me with the Perfect Idea and i was like Alright now we’re getting there. (Getting where exactly. I am sick AND having terrible mood swings. We are making no progress 😔)

As a multishipper and enjoyer of ruikasa, I am begging this fandom to stop forcing this mlm take down everyone's throats. I love the canon dynamic that tsukasa and rui have, which, I'm not sure if you've noticed, is explicitly platonic. It sucks that people are so fucking yaoi brained that these male characters who are close friends just *have* to be kissing for them to be interesting. No fuck you actually, there's plenty of potential for them without making it romantic. Please drop the notion that these characters exist to be shipped together.

It really bothers me seeing people genuinely say 'pandemonium was the ruikasa event'. Pandemonium is about rui enjoying an event with his FRIENDS that he wasn't expecting to enjoy so much. Rui then having a heart to heart with tsukasa and thanking tsukasa for helping him change is a sweet moment they share that shows how their bond has benefited them... how is 'thank you for helping me change' romantic? My closest friend has helped me change, and I've said that to her, and I didn't say it with the subtext of 'I'm in love with you', I just wanted to remind her that she's had a positive impact on my life. Why does this entire event have to be boiled down to the one scene that's apparently the epitome of yaoi? Rui doesn't exist to be in love with tsukasa. Rui exists to be a character who grows and changes, who struggles with his friendships and has a hardened view of the world because of his past, but also a view that the world can be a happier place if he tries to show that to people. Turning him into a machine that kisses tsukasa is a fucking disgusting way of treating the genuine development we've seen of him over the course of the game.

To make it about shipping again, I've also seen the take that it's gross to ship rui with female characters because 'he's so gay coded'. Buddy, my best friends would be 'gay coded' if they were fictional, and they're the straightest people on this earth. Coding is an implication that does not mean canon. Rui can make a gay joke and wear the gay earring and... What?! He can still like women?! My favourite rui ship is honarui, a shocking take by the standards of the fandom. Rui is exclusively a gay man, and honami can only be shipped with Leo need and kanade because she's so sapphic coded I guess. It irks me in a way I can't explain that things have to be so black and white that it's only acceptable to ship specific characters with the same gender and the same characters over and over. I'm tired of honakana, I'm tired of ruikasa, I want to explore this dynamic that I haven't gotten to see enough of in canon. And it's fun to explore that dynamic. Is it wrong to have fun when writing about characters I like? Because reading and writing the same shlock for ruikasa is fucking boring.

I don't know if this is structured well but my main point is: be fucking creative. Write a platonic ruikasa fic and don't make it romantic by the end. Don't interpret every single interaction between same sex characters as inherently romantic. Don't see coding as the be all and end all of canon. Explore something new. Have some fucking fun and stop shoving the same bullshit into the mainstream because people who enjoy these ships do get tired of it eventually

every time someone says "an should have been vbs's leader" or "saki should have been leo/need's leader" i want to . slam my head through concrete. oh you missed the point so bad

1. the "leader" thing is kind of really fucking insignificant outside of where each group's story begins and promo materials. it doesn't mean one character is the "main character" of the group. project sekai doesn't HAVE a main character in the first place it's not that kind of story. each individual character is equally important to not only their group's story but the over-arching story of the whole game

2. leo/need's story begins with ichika because she is ultimately the one that brings them all back together. not saki. it is ichika's determination and frankly stubbornness that gets through to shiho and honami. like, saki was literally ready to give up on reconnecting with honami! (out of love and respect for her choices but like) if she was the focus leo/need would have been honami-less!! but ichika refuses to let it go. much like she refused to let go of their friendships throughout all of middle school.

when the story begins, we see ichika burnt out and hopeless. but that's only after years of trying and trying and trying and trying again to reconnect with shiho and later honami. this fandom does not understand ichika's character well . she's not meek and she doesn't back down easily she's not some like... fumbling "girlflop" she's incredibly driven and strong-willed. she lost some of that due to depression and isolation but as of leo/need's most recent arc ender she has pretty much regained her fiery spirit. she's leo/need's lead singer and MC for a reason

3. vivid bad squad's story opens with kohane because she's the only one who hasn't grown up/partially grown up on vivid street. if an or akito had been the "leader" we would have lost the magic of getting to know vivid street and its people and unique culture. it's all average every day life for them, but kohane is experiencing it all for the first time. it's only through her eyes that the audience can understand just how very special vivid street is

4. one more thing: you could say that the "leaders" represent the themes of each group and the general direction of their story arcs. vivid bad squad, among several other things, is all about improvement and growth and overcoming challenges and creating something new and finding a place to call home within a community. who better to represent that but the socially anxious newbie who never felt like she belongs anywhere and would never do anything with her life?

leo/need is about love and the ability to endure all hardships and preserve that love . it's about having a heart big enough to hope for the impossible and the willpower to make it reality. ichika, in all her hard-headed stubborn painfully persistent glory, is perfect for that.

similarly, mafuyu isn't nightcord's leader because nightcord is ultimately about healing. hope. finding a way to make life worth living again. these aren't paths he would have chosen on his own. he gave up on himself a long time ago. as did ena and mizuki, in their own ways. the best person to represent hope is the one who refuses to give up on anyone and stubbornly believes she can save them all

wonderlands x showtime is about moving forward to a brighter future and not letting the past keep you shackled in place. it's also about having lofty dreams and the selfishness to pursue those dreams. both of these things are why emu Isn't wxs's leader; she lacks that selfishness (i'm not using this word in a negative sense btw; i think being selfish can be a good thing. and sometimes being selfless is a bad one) tsukasa (and rui) has, and she often clings to the past.

and as far as more more jump and all their own themes of hope and never giving up go, of course their leader has to be minori. she brought three disillusioned, jaded ex-idols hope and reignited their passion! she's the walking embodiment of hope itself

Initial thought, he’s used to Furina and her persona of Focalors so it’s not really new to him

Despite what he thinks, he’s gotten very good at human emotions

But he does write a letter to Sigewinne for how to help you, and she pulls through by suggesting he cooks for you

He wants you to rely on him like everyone can rely on you

You’re intuition on peoples sincerity is really useful

He looks at cases so critically, but you’re willing to believe the accused and sometimes you point things out that he missed

When he notices you bottling things up, he gifts you journal

He won’t make you talk about your feelings, in fact he prefers it this way, but he hates seeing the negativity eat away at you

Initial thought, baffled by how positive and energetic you are but doesn’t hate it

He’s really bad with feelings but, he’s there for you if you need him

Connecting with emotions is part of his reformation, so he tries to help you

Especially if those emotions have to deal with abandonment or grief

Honestly, his response to most things being “murder” makes you laugh and he’s glad

He hates that you can see through his nonchalant act right from the get go, the words just don’t match the look in his eyes

You make writing papers easier because you raise counterarguments for him

Heizou

Initial thought, like Kazuha he finds you inspiring but on more of a personal level and has use you to distract criminals

Acts on your impulsive plans together, if you fall you fall together

Plus he can protect you in a dangerous situation

As a detective, he’s the first to notice your smile no longer reaching your eyes

So he uses interrogation techniques to get you to confess

And by that I mean he discreetly leads you into telling him what’s up, no torture required

You make interrogations so easy, he’s good at catching liars but you’re better at telling when people are hiding something

Also he’s baffled when you tell him Itto isn’t acting and really is that happy go lucky

Loves that he can match wits with you, puzzles are a fun pass-time of yours

Yapping about my opinion on everything below

you can ignore this if you are only here for project sekai (valid you should still try tss it’s a good comfort show and free on yt loll) or just don’t care / don’t want even more negativity (also valid just know there is a tldr that’s pretty positive at the end if ur curious)

i definitely agree with many points the anti-Thomas team is making, and think Thomas should try and learn to take constructive criticism, have more public updates and hints for next episodes, and be be more on top of things (i get how hard that can be so im saying try to) and hire at least one writer. on the other hand, i don’t see how jumping to conclusions and saying thomas is inherently a bad person is helping anything. plenty of people are definitely taking it out of proportion. the time it’s taken between episodes itself is not personally upsetting with covid, Joan leaving causing writers block, and then the skin issue cause i have other special interests to enjoy between the wait.i just want the fandom to go back to relative normalcy, even if it’s smaller, and not worry too much on if it’s even possible to finish the series.

tldr and finish, I have empathy for Thomas as someone who also has social anxiety and ADHD, so i hope he’s able to find a better way to deal with the series and relieve the stress he’s gotta be feeling. i still love this series with all my heart and want the best for it and Thomas
