Rejuvenate Your Skin with Professional Micro-needling in Calgary
Introduction to Microneedling in Calgary
In the realm of skincare, microneedling has emerged as a revolutionary treatment that offers a host of benefits for those looking to rejuvenate their skin. In Calgary, microneedling is gaining popularity for its effectiveness in addressing various skin concerns. This minimally invasive procedure helps improve skin texture, reduce scars, and promote overall skin health, making it a go-to treatment for individuals seeking to enhance their appearance.
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, involves the use of fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries on the skin’s surface. These micro-injuries stimulate the body’s natural wound healing processes, resulting in increased collagen and elastin production. The treatment is versatile and can be used on the face, neck, and other areas of the body to address issues such as wrinkles, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation.
The Mechanism of Microneedling
Understanding the mechanism of microneedling helps to appreciate how this treatment works to rejuvenate the skin. Here’s a detailed look at the process:
Preparation: Before the procedure begins, the skin is thoroughly cleansed to remove any makeup, dirt, or oils. A topical anesthetic is then applied to ensure comfort during the treatment.
Microneedling Procedure: A microneedling device, which can be a dermaroller or a dermapen, is used to create tiny punctures in the skin. These punctures are controlled and only penetrate the upper layers of the skin. The depth of needle penetration can be adjusted based on the specific skin concerns being addressed.
Healing Response: The micro-injuries created by the needles trigger the skin’s natural healing response. This involves the production of new collagen and elastin, which are essential for maintaining firm, youthful skin. Blood flow to the treated area is also increased, which helps nourish the skin and promote healing.
Post-Treatment Care: After the procedure, the skin may appear red and feel sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn. Clients are advised to avoid direct sun exposure and use a gentle skincare regimen to support the healing process.
Methods of Microneedling
There are various methods of microneedling, each with its own set of advantages:
Dermaroller: This handheld device features a rolling drum with fine needles. It is manually rolled over the skin to create micro-injuries. Dermarollers are commonly used for home treatments but may not provide the precision of professional devices.
Dermapen: A dermapen is a motorized device that uses a cluster of fine needles to puncture the skin. The depth and speed of the needles can be adjusted, allowing for more precise and controlled treatment. Dermapens are typically used in professional settings due to their efficiency and effectiveness.
Radiofrequency Microneedling: This advanced method combines traditional microneedling with radiofrequency energy. The needles deliver radiofrequency energy deep into the skin, enhancing collagen production and tightening the skin. This method is particularly effective for treating deeper wrinkles and scars.
Benefits of Microneedling
Microneedling offers a multitude of benefits for the skin, including:
Improved Skin Texture: By stimulating collagen production, microneedling helps smooth out rough texture, resulting in softer, more even skin.
Reduced Scars and Hyperpigmentation: The treatment is highly effective in reducing the appearance of acne scars, surgical scars, and hyperpigmentation.
Minimized Fine Lines and Wrinkles: Increased collagen and elastin production help to plump the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Enhanced Absorption of Skincare Products: The micro-channels created during the treatment allow for better absorption of topical skincare products, enhancing their efficacy.
Overall Skin Rejuvenation: Microneedling promotes a radiant, youthful complexion by improving skin tone, firmness, and elasticity.

Oxygen Hydra Facial Tips and Tricks for Beginners
An Oxygen Hydra Facial, also known as a HydraFacial, is a non-invasive skincare treatment that combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration, and antioxidant protection to improve skin health and appearance. If you're a beginner looking to try this treatment, here are some tips and tricks to get the most out of it:
1. Research and Choose a Qualified Provider:
Look for a reputable skincare clinic or spa that offers Oxygen Hydra Facials. Research their credentials, read reviews, and ask for recommendations from friends or family.
2. Consultation:
Schedule a consultation with the provider to discuss your skincare concerns and goals. They can tailor the treatment to your specific needs.
3. Pre-Treatment Skincare:
Avoid using retinoids, chemical peels, or other harsh treatments for at least one week before your Hydra Facial to prevent excessive sensitivity.
4. Understand the Procedure:
Ask your provider to explain the steps involved in the Hydra Facial so you know what to expect. It typically involves cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration, and infusion of serums.
5. Relax and Enjoy:
The Hydra Facial is a gentle and comfortable procedure, so relax during the treatment. It's often described as feeling like a gentle vacuum and water being applied to the skin.
6. Aftercare:
Your provider will recommend post-treatment care, which usually includes avoiding harsh skincare products and excessive sun exposure for a few days.
7. Maintenance:
To maintain the benefits of the Hydra Facial, consider scheduling regular sessions. Your provider can suggest a suitable frequency based on your skin type and goals.
8. Communicate with Your Provider:
If you experience any unusual reactions or have concerns after the treatment, don't hesitate to contact your provider for guidance.
9. Avoid Sun Exposure:
After a Hydra Facial, your skin may be more sensitive to the sun. Be diligent about using sunscreen and wearing protective clothing to prevent sun damage.
10. Hydrate and Follow a Skincare Routine:
After the treatment, continue to hydrate your skin by drinking plenty of water. Follow a skincare routine recommended by your provider to maintain your skin's health and appearance.
11. Be Patient:
Results may not be immediately apparent. It may take a few days for your skin to show the full benefits of the treatment, so be patient and consistent with your skincare routine.
Remember that individual results may vary, and the effectiveness of the Oxygen Hydra Facial can depend on factors like your skin type and any specific concerns you have. Consult with your skincare provider for personalized advice and recommendations to achieve your desired results.

We need more dad tony stark content (literally anything you got)
Literally starving
Thank you 😌
thank you for giving me more excuses to talk about this. Tony is such a good fucking dad in general, but he's especially great when you get sick. if you're in new york, he probably notices cause you're not up as early as usual. idk where this came from, but I can hear him clear as day walking into your room and smoothing your hair to wake you up, saying
"Hey pumpkin, sun's out." you only grunt in response, but it's not your usual sassy I don't wanna wake up grunt. It sounds softer, like you actually can't get up yet.
"You feeling okay?" before you can answer, he's totally on it. "jarvis, run a vital scan."
He rolls you over onto your back so he can look at you. you look... pale. you don't have the usual vibrance to your skin, it's gray and faded. you look like if you weren't lying down, you'd pass out. Your eyes are puffy and watery, your lips are chapped. You're not yourself. While Jarvis runs a diagnostic scan on your vitals, Tony also gets to work. he carefully sticks a microneedling patch on your arm to check your blood - something Strange helped him whip up, among many other ways to monitor your health without all that clunky invasive hospital equipment - as Jarvis gives him the low down.
"Elevated body temperature of 101.3 degrees fahrenheit, swelling of the sinuses, elevated white blood count..." Jarvis rambles on and on while describing your simptoms, only interrupted by an agressive coughing fit.
"And a rather nasty productive cough."
You look up at him and try not to get teary, you know crying will just make you feel more dehydrated and achy.
"Dad... I don't feel good..."
He looks down at you so warmly, and with so much love.
"I know, kid."
He stands up, determined to do everything he can to kick this cold in record time.
"Alright, your schedule for the week is cleared." He cuts you off as you object. "Ah-bup-bup-bup. I don't want to hear it. You are officially on bedrest until further notice. Jarvis, order out for some of that soup we like, some cough drops, and popsicles."
He looks down at you.
"You want ice cream? What am I saying, of course you want ice cream. Jarvis, throw in a few pints of Stark raving hazelnuts and bunny tracks."
He grabs the remote for your tv, putting on your favorite movie and has dum-e wheel you in a box of tissues. He grabs some vaseline and cold medicine, along with a fresh cold water and your favorite flavor of sports drink.
"Now. I want you to lay back, I want you to stay cool, and I want you to get some rest. And you're a Stark, so staying cool should be no problem." He gives you a kiss on the forehead, then stands up to move all his work to stuff he can do at home, and tell Pepper to cancel or reschedule the rest so he can spend the rest of the day watching movies and tv shows with you between naps. You can hear him muttering to himself as he calls Steven over to come check on you. If you weren't so tired, you'd find it funny that the only person your dad trusts to be your family doctor is also a wizard.
"Can stop aliens from invading earth, I can make an arc reactor that can fit in the palm of my hand, how have we not cracked this cold and flu season thing yet?" he mutters, making a mental note to discuss it with the rest of the Avengers at the next team meeting. you drift off to sleep feeling a lot better than you did when you woke up, and thinking about debrief folders titled Avengers v. Rhinovirus.

My Pouty Sans-Juvederm Routine
I am fond of pouty lips and I personally prefer mine to be juicy, lips are a symbol of femininity and beauty and allure, and I love nothing more than covering my lips in heavy coats of plumping lip gloss before stepping out and there's no way I could leave the house without applying a very light layer of of capsaicin ointment (common vasodilator used in lip plumpers) or my trusted and all-time favorite Lip Plumper.
I have created a routine for myself to for enhancing the shape and color of my lips and I use this routine pre-makeup or on its own for an extra boost of volume while maintaining a natural and subtle look. The results are natural and I'd recommend them for obvious short term and subtle long term results, I use this routine weekly and it works for me.
As always, this is what worked for me and it's what I do, I would recommend you do your own research and make sure you know what you are doing and it's appropriate for your individual needs before following these steps, it's one of my ways for when I need to enhance my lips and accentuate their shape and color.
I prep my lips with a focus on hydration.
For starters, you need a very smooth and moisturized surface, this won't work with chapped or dry lips. You want to prevent any damage, the skin of our lips are very delicate and the thinnest part of our bodies so make sure your lips are properly hydrated. To physically exfoliate your lips, you can easily make your own peeling at home with honey and sugar to slough off all of the dead skin, and I also use a toothbrush to gently remove dead skin cells. My lips are always soft because I have incorporated more hydrating products into my daily regimen and before I go to bed I make sure that my lips are properly moisturized for an extra boost of hydration and improved texture so that I can wake up in the morning and do my makeup on smooth canvas. I always keep a spray bottle with water handy and use it before I apply any hydrating products on my skin or lips, it has worked wonders for me as I feel it activates and helps my lips better absorb the products and pull the moisture from the water. I spritz my lips with water and hydrate them by applying a very generous amount of hyaluronic acid and/or glycerin serum and really massaging them all over my lips to provide deep hydration.
I dermaroll my lips.
I have been using dermarollers for several years now for various purposes, and I have noticed excellent results. I know that dermarollers have sparked some controversy and people have raised concerns about their safety, fretting about how they could cause infections or permanent damage to the skin. I would never use one on my facial skin and would strongly advise leaving that to a professional, but I particularly enjoy using them on my lips and or for doing my microneedling treatments. Prior to use, I ensure that my dermaroller is free of bacteria by disinfecting it. Never skip this step as you want to keep it free from germs so sterilize before each use to prevent infections. I always use the smallest needle size possible, which in this case is 0.25, and I think it is way more gentle on the lips and less irritating compared to bigger sizes. The principle behind dermarolling your lips is that micro-tears are created on the lips or skin during the process, which triggers the body's natural healing response and produces more collagen. I roll my dermaroller over my lips both horizontally, vertically, and diagonally. My lips are not that sensitive to the dermaroller since the needles are tiny and I try to be as gentle as I can.
I slather some more hydrating serums and lock it all in.
My lips become slightly red after I am done with the dermarolling, I'm used to this whole process and the needle size is rather small so my lips aren't that sensitive anymore. I want to encourage and speed up the growth and healing response, the post-care routine is equally important as the actual steps so in order to promote faster healing and encourage growth, I generously apply hyaluronic acid serum once again. Then, I use an occlusive like La Neige Lip Sleeping Mask or good old Vaseline to seal in the serum in order to speed up and facilitate the healing response.
I Follow My Lip Care Regimen.
Dermarolling my lips has worked wonders in making my lips appear fuller and I increase blood flow to my lips with my lipcare regimen that consists of regular massages, exercises, special ointments, physical exfoliation, SPF lip balms, diluted essential oils and icing just to increase circulation, stimulate the blood flow to my lips and protect them from environmental factors. This routine in combination with a separate lip makeup routine makes my lips get that red plump bee stung look that I so love.
Cat.

How to Reduce Stretch Marks
Every woman and most men have stretch marks on their bodies. They’re completely natural and can come about by weight/muscle gain or loss, at any age. I worked on my own stretch marks until they were invisible because they were deep, textured, and an insecurity of mine, but if yours don’t bother you, then of course, you don’t need to reduce them. This is just what worked for me, and I recommend using all three in combination for best results.
Microneedling
A video I recommend watching beforehand.
I have my microneedling done professionally now, but when I was a teenager and insecure about stretch marks on my body, I did it myself. Microneedling is dangerous and I don’t recommend doing it yourself unless you trust yourself to be totally sensible about hygiene and recovery. You’re dealing with needles and potentially open wounds, so you have to be almost neurotic about hygiene.
I read the book above by Dr Setterfield from cover to cover, I watched hours of videos on YouTube about microneedling, and when the time finally came for me to do it myself, I bought a dermastamp (not a roller) from a reputable company, and committed to sterilising it and disposing of it after a single use. It was expensive to do it this way, but I didn’t want to take any risks, and it was still cheaper than paying a professional.
TCA Peels
A playlist I recommend watching beforehand.
TCA peels are slightly more intense than microneedling in my opinion, but I use them on my body twice a year for even skintone and they helped a lot back when I still had stretch marks. Again, do your research—the book above is the industry standard, and the playlist is very informative—and buy from reputable companies. Don’t take any chances; you’re dealing with acids here, and can literally burn your skin and cause scarring that will make you wish you had your stretch marks back.
Tretinoin
A video I recommend watching beforehand.
Tretinoin is a topical and therefore feels safer, but you still have to take precautions. It’s not as instantly effective at reducing stretch marks, but it makes significant improvements over the long-term and helps with overall skin texture. You’ll need to be diligent about sun protection if the treated area is exposed to sun in any way (i.e. if it’s not covered by heavy clothing), and use moisturisers to ‘sandwich’ and protect your skin’s barrier.

Facial Treatment: What to expect during your first time
Your first facial treatment can be an enjoyable and rejuvenating experience. Here's what you can generally expect during your first facial appointment:
Consultation: The session typically begins with a consultation with a licensed esthetician or skincare professional. They will ask about your skincare concerns, any specific issues you'd like to address, your skincare routine, and any allergies or sensitivities you may have. This consultation helps the esthetician tailor the treatment to your unique needs.
Skin Analysis: The esthetician will closely examine your skin to determine your skin type (e.g., oily, dry, combination), assess your skin condition, and identify any specific concerns such as acne, dehydration, or signs of aging.
Cleansing: The esthetician will start by cleansing your face to remove makeup, dirt, and impurities. They may use a gentle, pH-balanced cleanser suitable for your skin type.
Steam or Warm Towels: Some facials include the use of steam or warm towels to open up your pores, making it easier to extract blackheads and whiteheads.
Exfoliation: Depending on your skin type and concerns, the esthetician may use an exfoliating scrub, enzyme peel, or chemical peel to remove dead skin cells and improve skin texture.
Extraction (Optional): If you have clogged pores or acne, the esthetician may perform extractions using sterile tools. This step can help remove blackheads and whiteheads, but it can be slightly uncomfortable for some individuals.
Facial Massage: Many facials include a relaxing facial massage using gentle, upward strokes. This helps improve circulation, relax facial muscles, and promote a sense of well-being.
Mask Application: A mask tailored to your skin type and concerns will be applied. Masks can hydrate, soothe, brighten, or address specific issues such as acne or aging.
Serums and Treatments: The esthetician may apply serums, ampoules, or targeted treatments to address your specific skincare concerns.
Moisturizer and Sunscreen: A moisturizer suitable for your skin type will be applied, followed by sunscreen to protect your skin from UV damage, especially if the facial is during the day.
Post-Treatment Advice: The esthetician will provide recommendations for post-facial skincare, including products to use at home, lifestyle tips, and advice on when to schedule your next facial.
Relaxation: Facials are not just about skincare; they're also a chance to relax and unwind. Many people find the experience soothing and stress-relieving.
Duration: The length of a facial can vary, but most standard facials last around 60 to 90 minutes.
Redness and Sensitivity: Depending on the type of facial and your skin's sensitivity, you may experience temporary redness or mild irritation, which should subside within a few hours to a day.
It's essential to communicate openly with your esthetician throughout the process, especially if you experience discomfort or have any questions about the facial treatment. Also, make sure to inform them of any allergies or skin sensitivities you may have to ensure a safe and effective facial experience. Enjoy the pampering and the benefits of your first facial treatment, and don't forget to schedule follow-up appointments to maintain your skin's health and radiance.

Also, whilst this is obviously NOT the point of this post (which is clearly about accepting and loving your wrinkles)- smiling and using your facial muscles actually keeps you looking younger. Using muscles also helps keep your bone density up, which goes down as we age. And last, using muscles will tighten your skin and repair your fascia (to a point). Kids smile ~400 times a day and often have very expressive facial movements compared to adults who smile ~20 times a day. We definitely associate strong facial muscles with youth.
And this is why I think younger generations are starting to look older - facial muscle atrophy from staring at screens dissociatively instead of interacting face to face.
This is also why I think injectables often look uncanny, especially when the face is in motion. Botox works AMAZING as a medicine, but it will cause muscle atrophy. Maybe you need that for your masseter for TMJ (or want it for cosmetic reasons), which is fine. But when that muscle becomes smaller, you may get some skin laxity as well. And that's true of any muscle injected on the face.
Especially for undereye hollowing, which is an area of the face supplied by a terminal blood vessel (so people with chronic vasoconstriction due to allergies, diabetes, ptsd/anxiety, stimulant use, etc, will already have some smaller muscles at terminal blood vessels), using Botox can worsen wrinkling (usually used nearby on crows feet or bunny lines or nasolabial lines). For these muscles, getting your pump on with facial exercises (which you can do for free) will help the best to getting blood supply there and fuller muscles. Massage and gua sha can also help with blood flow there.
But instead people are advised by professionals to use hyaluronic acid fillers to add fullness. However, filler/hyaluronic acid migrates with muscle use. Think of your fascia as being a system of rivers on land - when you move your muscles, they squeeze the HA acid out of the compressed area above in the skin, it's akin to an area getting rainfall - the rain will run off in channels and those channels over time become wider and water more efficiently travels through those channels. With wrinkles, the hyaluronic acid is traveling through channels in the fascia which aren't able to be dammed up as we age and deal with oxidative stress including UV damage (microneedling and chemical exfoliants work partially because they damage these channels and force repair; but this is also why occasionally people will sometimes have an adverse reaction of worse wrinkles when their body cant keep up with repairing the damage). So when you get HA filler, you're just adding even more rainfall, worsening the fascia issue that is causing the wrinkles. And sometimes the HA filler is bigger than your natural HA, so it widens those channels much worse than if you never got it. And again, HA filler is a great medical tool for certain other conditions but it should be used mindfully.
So people get botox to stop the filler from migrating, which makes muscle atrophy worse, which causes worse sagging and more muscle wasting, which requires more HA filler... All to look like you use your facial muscles like a kid does. All to look happy. It's messed up. Just be happy and use your face.
WHY THE FUCK do people have a problem with smile lines ?? you don’t like that your face shows evidence of you being happy??? why are you so afraid of aging to the point that ur afraid to smile? this is not okay
