With a Depeche Mode song, the first thing we decide upon is atmosphere. After that, we might add sampled sounds. They could be anything—pebbles in a can or industrial noises using oil cans, skips, concrete… All the technology we use is computer-based, but our interest is in what you can do with that, not how it works. There’s no reason to be scared of computer technology. People blame technology for musical sterility, but that’s rubbish. It comes down to ideas.

this winter, I sort of want to try actually making a temporary merch store; I'm not really good at this kind of thing (business management), I have been kind of dancing around it and avoiding thinking about it, but I do want to give it a try to see how I feel about it, at least for a bit. like order a small stock of some items, hopefully sell them until they're gone. wind down for 30 mins before sleeping with the light on (e.g. spacing out/meditate/journal/yoga/dealing with the things that distracted me while studying) ✅ (i wanted to meditate for 30 mins straight - i could not. while meditating, i was constantly reminded of things i didn't do yet and thoughts i wanted to get down that i kept stopping and starting the timer bc either these things have been bothering me for a while or i thought it was an important observation and it's now well over the 30 mins of winding down that i had originally planned and i'm sleeping a little later than i had wanted to. oh well. next time, it's probably a good idea to stick to the 30 min timer and NOT stop it now that a good number of bits and bobs have been dealt with...hopefully they don't all get replaced by new ones by the end of tmr 😂)

On this Labor Day I am begging USAmericans on tumblr to please, please pay attention to class rather than income.

Does someone earn their living by selling their labor or by taking the profits generated by other people's labor? There's nuance and edge cases, but that is the central issue. I am so, so tired of seeing tumblr discourse that attempts to separate out precisely how much money makes you "rich" without ever looking at where that money comes from. Do y'all even realize that the people at the top of the pyramid don't make their money via wages? Income is a red herring.
