I know this is a dark addition for a story that is already very heavy, but i know stories of this practice being used when native children were captured for residential schools.

The AP article mentions that the practice has spread in the past 15 years. It seems important to add that this isnt unprecedented.

That is the site where Caesar was assassinated… it is now a cat sanctuary, which explains the picture :)
