dating him | lee know
â come over, the cats miss you â
chan | LEE KNOW | changbin | hyunjin | han | felix | seungmin | jeongin
if he wasnât a menace before (impossible btw), he sure as hell is now
this man is relentless
teasing as his love language
just loves riling you up bc he thinks ur reactions are so cute
and he smirks a lot too
if he wasnât so damn attractive, u wouldâve wiped that smirk off his face !!!!!
âwait min, i got a textâ
ânice to know you have friendsâ
u hate him đđđđđ
heâs such a little shit that heâs even rilling u up during ur dates
like
laser tag games where he kisses you to distract you before taking you out
HEâS SO MEAN
heâd push you against the wall with a sly smirk and you think you wonât fall for it again, but you do
every single time
u shouldâve known better
this is lee âresident cheater in all possible gamesâ minho
anyways
he is also an ass lover â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸
iâm sorry but u cannot go into a relationship with him without expecting him to always have his hand on ur ass in some way
so in short
the trope is giving u thought he was out of ur league but heâs actually a weirdo
so now uâre dating the Weird Kid
(u wouldnât want it any other way)
his other love language is acts of service
i said in my chan one that minho also gives Chief Hong from hometown cha3
like tell me iâm wrong
man wife #2
he is ur personal handyman
heâs just good at everything
will most probably only do it for u tho
seungmin: hyung can u fix my sink
minho: no
seungmin catching strays đđ
you: babeâ
minho: what do you need me to do now
he says it in fake annoyance too
but heâs got his tools in his hand already ready to do whatever u want
obsessed i tell u
he drives u around too
if you have an event, a party, a project, anywhere you need to be
heâll drive u there
he always makes time
AND he picks you up too like shut up
it could be a party that finishes at 2am and heâs just waiting for your call to pick you up
sometimes, you tell him he can just sleep early bc your friend will give you a ride home
when you get home, look ⌠heâs still awake
heâs been waiting for you to come home this whole time to make sure youâre safe
BUT he doesnât say anything
the moment he sees youâre alive and breathing (and doesnât need taking care of), heâs on his way to the bedroom to sleep
when u look around, heâs done the chores already
he just does things to lessen the load that u might have u know
if uâre so stressed with anything, heâd silently clean up ur room or bring u food
so u donât have to think about that anymore
also the best chef in town btw
he likes cooking together
and by cooking together i mean like he does all the work and u just stay there and keep him company
he canât risk ur clumsy ass injuring urself
comforts u thru his cooking too
would baby u and feed u when uâre sad
his favorite dates with u are quiet, homemade dinners
just likes being with u and u only
away from everyone else
as niki would say, i donât like anyone except sometimes you
itâs in moments like those that he just unwinds and shows u his softer sides
heâs honestly just so gentle and soft
he looks at u with stars in his eyes
ugh such an attentive listener too
sometimes u think he isnât listening, but heâs got it all memorized
âyeah u mentioned it on our date 3 months agoâ
like damn
anyways, moving on
his pet names for u give olden times
honey, darling, jagi
but also loser, idiot, stupid girl (endearingly)
so u two are giving me old married couple
uâd both wake up early and have coffee or tea together and just talk abt anything
also this is far into the future but like
sneak peek at minho as ur husband
i think u two would be the type to have a garden
like gardening would be ur little hobby
he grows fruits and vegetables
u beg to grow flowers
OK BACK TO BOYFRIEND MINHO
randomly sending selfies thru the day
THOSE selfies
u know what iâm talking abt
forces u to send selfies back
(ur photos are all saved and hidden in his phone but he will never tell u that)
oh uâve also become his catsâ mom btw
one of ur favorite errands to do is going grocery shopping for his cats
uâd always end up buying them a gift
âuâre the reason my cats are spoiledâ
SUUUUUUURE minho suuuuuuure
cat fashion shows
like dress to IMPRESS
(btw idk why but i feel like u could force him to play roblox with u)
he also uses his cats to lure u to visit him btw
âsoonie misses u, uâre being a bad motherâ
itâs just him who misses u letâs be real
and if ur favorite thing to do with him is cat shopping, his is walking by the han river with you
he loves walking
esp when itâs with you
just a peaceful walk tbh like yall donât even have to say anything
tho sometimes when heâs feeling playful, heâd suddenly play tag with you
ends with both of u just sitting by the river and looking at the lights and the stars and holding hands or maybe ur head on his shoulder
damn wish that were me fr
when u go home, u watch some variant of a trashy reality tv show together
uâve basically seen it all
but if anyone were to ask u what happened in those shows, yall wouldnât know
u two were too busy just making out instead of paying attention
or falling asleep
old married couple iâm telling u
expect to also be dragged into his camping
when he has particularly long days off, heâd propose going camping together
ah, the beauty of warm bonfires and quiet conversations
heâd take good care of you the whole time
like yessss do your job as a man and fix up this entire camping site
and he does
tho, aside from camping, heâd also suggest hiking to take in the view of the mountains and the pretty sky
uâd wake up early on both occasions just to watch the sun rise
in contrast to these very productive activities, sometimes minho also just loves lazy sundays where you just cuddle for the entirety of the day
what more could he want
u and his cats with him
thatâs honestly just the dream
good luck cat mom
have fun acting like an old married couple with lee know
he is the dream man
nonchalant to anyone else except u

M.I.A.
Summary: When Colter Shaw calls the reader for help on a job, she thinks nothing of helping out. Only he never shows up and Colter may have just become the latest disappearance in this small town. Itâs up to her and Russell to work together to find him before his case goes cold like all the others beforeâŚ
He's My Man Masterlist
Pairing: Russell Shaw x reader
Word Count: 6,500ish
Warnings: language, kidnapping, violence, torture, mentions of death
A/N: Welcome back to more Russell Shaw! This story is considered a timestamp to He's My Man and it's highly recommended that story be read prior to this one. With Tracker coming up again soon I wanted to dive back into this world with these characters and thought this would be a fun way to check in with the gang. Please enjoy!...
________
âThanks,â you said to the waitress who refilled your coffee. The diner was quiet, the mid-afternoon lull between the lunch and dinner crowd. You poked at the slice of chocolate pie in front of you and scrolled through your phone, an anxious feeling growing in your gut.
Colter had called last night, asking if youâd be willing to come out and act as his date at a gala event where he was investigating a young womanâs disappearance. Admittedly, you were a bit nervous to accept. Youâd only been doing reward work for six months and youâd had success so far with tracking down a few show dogs, a horse, a signed Mickey Mantle baseball card and a stolen car. But you hadnât dipped your toe into the truly hard stuff yet. People.
After Colter got you to put the phone on speaker, he and Russell had wore you down and convinced you this would be a good first run. It was Colterâs case, you were simply there to help and offer input.
Flirting with a rich playboy Colter suspected of kidnapping the missing woman while he searched the house was also up there on his request list.
It was only a three hour drive to the small town from home and Russell had an important meeting with a brewery investor at lunch so you decided to help him do some last minute prep in the morning before agreeing to catch up with Colter for lunch at a diner. Yet, it was a few minutes past three and youâd heard nothing from him since around midnight the night before.
âFuck it,â you said, slapping down a ten dollar bill and dialing.
âHello, hello, qark,â answered Russell, his voice cheery and bright.
âYour lunch went well Iâm assuming?â He hummed. âDonât leave me hanging. Whatâd you settle on?â
âHe gets 5% profit sharing after the first year for five years. By then he said weâd be well established and probably wouldnât need him anymore. He was a good guy, invited us to get dinner with him and his wife sometime.â
âThatâs great, honey,â you said, turning when the bell over the door rang, pouting to find it was a pair of older men that took a seat at a booth. âYou havenât heard from Colter at all, have you?â
âNoâŚhe never showed for lunch?â You sighed. âHe could have been arrested.â
âRussell,â you chided.
âHe gets arrested and Reenie bails him out all the time,â he said. âI just texted her. I bet heâs sitting in the station right now because he pissed off some local power hungryâŚshit.â
âShit what?â you asked, taking a big, stress induced bite of pie.Â
âReenie said she hasnât heard from him.â Russell groaned in the background. You closed your eyes. Today was supposed to be a good day for him. The last thing you wanted was him worrying about his little brother.
âI bet he ate some bad food, puked his guts up in the airstreamer and is sleeping it off. He said he was staying at the Sunny Days Park. Iâll go meet up with him there-â
âIâm coming out there,â said Russell. You rolled your eyes. âIf heâs so sick he canât pick up a phone then he needs help and that girl heâs looking for needs help too.â
âFine,â you said, your heart rate spiking when you stood. âHeâs probably just being his usual anti-social self, right?â
âYeah. Heâs totally known for being flaky on jobs,â deadpanned Russell. âJustâŚIâm not going to ask you to wait at the diner for me but be careful. Keep your gun on you and you call me when you get to his trailer. I have a bad feeling.â
âMe too,â you whispered. âIâll call you in ten, Russ.â
Youâd frowned when you found Colterâs truck parked in front of the airstream fifteen minutes later. Your pout remained when you cleared the the area and the inside of the trailer, carefully tucking your gun away into the holster on the back of your jeans. âHeâs not here, Russell.â
âAnything look off?â he asked through the headphones in your ears. The space at first glance didnât look out of the ordinary. Computer and maps on the kitchenette table. Coffee mug upside down on the drying rack next to the sink. You stopped short and squatted down, cocking your head.
âThere are two pairs of shoes tucked under the table. Boots and trail running shoes.â
âOkayâŚâ You stood up and sighed.Â
âRussell, I lived in this trailer for a few days and Colter is a minimalist. There are two pairs of shoes here and he only owns two pairs of shoes. So heâs walking around barefoot? Thatâs-â
âNot good,â sighed Russell. âDo you see any sign of struggle? Blood? Anything weird? Or missing?â
âNot that I can tell. I didnât exactly do an inventory of his closet whenâŚâ Your eyes zeroed in on a tiny black speck in the corner. âHe has a security camera.â
âCall Bobby, see if he can get the footage from a cloud server or something. Iâll call back in a few once Iâm on the road.â
âDrive safe, hun.âÂ
âYou be safe. Anything feels fishy, get to a public place and stay there until I get in.â
âI know. Love you.â
âLove you too.â Two minutes later you were on Colterâs computer, Bobby sending you a link to the 24 hour cloud account where Colterâs subscription was saved to once a day.
There were two feeds, one right over the door to the air streamer and the other a wide angled shot staring down the entire length of the trailer. You backed it up to midnight, watching Colter sitting right where you currently were, texting and finishing off his beer. He stretched and stood, putting the empty under the sink.
He hit off a light and you sped it up, Colter padding out once to get a glass of water during the night. You smiled when he got up around six, an unusually cuddly version of Colter appearing on screen. He had a blanket wrapped around his bare shoulders as he shuffled over to his coffee machine, getting a cup brewing.
It reminded you of Russell in the morning. He too had a habit of walking around with a blanket first thing. You wondered if that was a Shaw thing or a habit Colter picked up from his big brother when they were kids.
You watched Colter disappear into the bedroom, exiting in a black tight pullover along with fitted pants for running. He sat at the booth and tugged on his sneakers before knocking back his coffee. He glanced at his phone quickly and tucked it into his pocket before he was gone, the interior still. The video was motionless for another hour when Colter came back inside, a thin layer of sweat on his face. Sneakers were removed and socks tossed into the bedroom, Colter taking deep gulps from a bottle of water. He tucked it back in the fridge and headed for the bedroom when suddenly the airstream door opened.Â
Three men in black masks bounded inside, one holding a bulky looking gun. Colter didnât get more than a step in before cords shot out and you realized heâd been tased. Your heart caught in your throat as he fell to the floor hard, body rigid. His face was etched in pain as he slowly moved his arm but the men were on him fast. Punch to the face, hands zip tied behind his back, tape over his mouth. Colter was out cold when they threw a hood over his head and he was lifted off the ground by a man on either side of him. They quickly left, no one appearing until you found yourself on tape hours later.
âColter,â you breathed out, looking out the windows, as if heâd suddenly appear safe and sound there. Shakily you dialed Russell, your head in your hands.Â
âHey. You hear from Bobby at all?â You tried to keep your breathing calm, remember the stress management techniques youâd learned in med school.Â
You winced, Russellâs voice loud on the other end. âY/N, answer me.â
âI watched the tape. Russ, s-someone took him. They took Colter right out of the airstream this morning and-â
âWhere are you?â You lifted your head, Russell growling. âWhere?â
âIn the air-â
âLeave right now, right fucking now,â he said. You grabbed the phone, Colterâs computer and a stack of papers nearby before rushing out of there. âAre you out?â
âYes, Iâm in my car,â you said with a pant, tossing everything in your passenger seat and taking off out of the campground.
âGo back to that diner and Iâll meet you there in two hours. If anyone tries anything-â
âI know,â you sighed. âDonât speed to get here. The last thing we need is you in an accident.â
âDiner. Two hours. Be there.â
Two Hours Later
You munched on a basket of once warm fries as you heard the bell over the door jingle. You eased slightly when Russell headed your direction, wrapping you up in a big hug. âYou okay?â
âIâm fine, Russ, I swear.â You sat back in your corner booth, Russell sliding in the opposite side, getting a cup of coffee and burger for himself before you ordered dinner. âHow are you holding up?â
Russell didnât say anything, just had that look on his face he did right before he killed Owen. Honestly, you shared that sentiment. Colter had your back when you were strangers and now when you were family? Yeah, someone was going to pay and dearly.
âBobbyâs been running the video through his programs but couldnât ID any of the guys. They ditched Colterâs phone outside the airstreamer so no leads there,â you said, passing the computer over to Russell. He watched the video, his eyes twitching momentarily before he took a long, deep breath.
âCan we trace these guys phones?â You shook your head.Â
âBobby tried. No cell activity in the nearby area before or after theyâŚâ You swallowed the lump in your throat, Russell reaching across the table and taking your hand in his. âThe teamâs been trying to find who took Colter while Iâve been looking into his research on the case. I figure he found out who took the woman or got real close without realizing it and that person took him.â
âSmart girl.â Russell cracked a smile, a heavy weight quickly settling back over the table. âBut I have a problem with it.â
You nodded, keeping your lips sealed as his food was delivered and you got a plate of eggs and hashbrowns set down before you. âMe too. It doesnât make sense to take him unless they wanted to know something he knows and they figured he wouldnât crack immediately.â
âYup. Arenât you supposed to go to a party with him tonight?â You stopped with a forkful halfway to your mouth. Russell cocked his head. âHe got an invite to that party. For two people. They must think he has a partner and that the partner knows everything Colter does.â
You set your fork down, Russell forcing a smile. âTheyâre looking for me. Those people are probably hurting him-â
âHey,â said Russell, voice quiet. Gentle. âThey took him because he found out something these people donât want him to know and he didnât realize it, not because of you. Letâs figure out what that is and then weâll come up with a game plan.â
âOkay. Letâs figure this out.â
Forty minutes later, two clean plates and Russell making more than one odd face at the computer screen did it hit you. You slid Colterâs notebook with the name of the party over, Russellâs eyebrow quirking. âWhat?â
âThese people donât know who I am, otherwise Iâd be gone. Colter wanted me to go to this party with him, right? Well, letâs go to the party.â Russell leaned back, closing his eyes. âIsnât the most likely scenario that the person that took this girl also took Colter? And they clearly are powerful enough to have a few guys working for them. Letâs go to the party full of rich people and see what we can sus out.â
âY/N.â Russell sighed, rubbing his temple with his palm. âItâs way too dangerous. Just because someone hasnât come after you doesnât mean they wonât. We need to figure out what Colter stumbled on-â
âThis party,â you said, holding up the notebook, slapping it down. Russell clenched his jaw, relaxing after a beat. âThe only research Colter did was on this girl and then thereâs the party invite. He wanted to go there for a reason.â
âAlright, alright,â he said, picking it up, flipping through the pages. âHowâd he get the invitation in the first place?â
âItâs a charity fundraiser. Anyone in town can go as far as I can tell,â you said. âAll I know is he wanted me to be a distraction.â
âDistractionâŚâ Russell typed on Colterâs computer, biting his bottom lip. âPartyâs at some older rich dudeâs house. Francis Duvel. Sounds like a real upstanding community member.â
âThatâs not surprising the wealthy guy is hosting a charity event.â Russellâs eye twitched before he spun around the screen. Your eyes flickered down, reading a headline.
Duvel Industries Once Again Cleared of Safety Allegations; Whistleblower Drops Suit as CEO Vows Quality & Integrity Valued Over Profits
âI couldnât figure it out earlier but thereâs been a pattern of people going missing every so often in this town. Men. Women. Old. Young. Never kids or teens. Always adults. Your missing girl, Alexis Pearson works at-â
âDuvel Industries,â you said, flipping through a paper. âExecutive assistant. You think-â
âPoor girl probably found out they were cutting corners somewhere and she said something to the wrong person.â He handed you back the computer and sure enough, all of the people that had âleftâ town or simply gone missing had at one point or another worked for Duvel Industries.
âHow did no one figure this out before? Itâs obvious whatâs going on,â you said, Russell looking around. âWait. You thinkâŚâ
âArticle said the local cops found no issues and never have. This charity auction is for the community including-â
âFuck,â you muttered. âHeâs got the sheriff in his pocket, likely a few more cops. No wonder Colter couldnât just turn over what he found. He couldnât trust them.â
âHe should have called me,â said Russell, closing the computer. He shook his head, staring out at the cloudy evening sky. âI have a friend in the bureau. I could haveâŚâ
âSo letâs call your friend, get the FBI up here to take a look at Duvel and in the meantime, try to find Colter and Alexis.â For the first time he looked worried and it made your heart clench. âWhat is it?â
âAlexis is probably already dead and when FBI agents show up at Duvelâs front door, heâs going to kill Colt and the girl if they arenât already. Y/N, we have to find him tonight.âÂ
âOkay,â you said, getting up and pulling him into your side of the booth, wrapping an arm around his waist. âScrew the party. That was Colterâs plan. Ours needs to be more direct.â
âWhatâd you have in mind?â
âDuvel isnât stupid enough to keep him or Alexis at a place where heâs having the whole town come to, right? So where would you hide them as a CEO?â He smiled, kissing your cheek before pulling out his phone.Â
âBobby, itâs Russell. I need the address of every property owned by Duvel Industries asap.â
One Hour Later
âHow do you know itâs this one?â you asked Russell as you got out of his car. He went to the trunk, resting his head against the open thing. âWhatâs wrong?â
âI know because this place is isolated, itâs been under construction for years with no progress but the tire tracks we saw were fresh. Itâs Duvelâs dumping ground.â He straightened up, hands on his hips. âQark.â
He didnât have to say it. He wanted you to stay here, out of danger. Heâd wanted you away from this kind of life and said it more than once.
Russell reached inside the trunk and opened a black duffel, holding out a black vest to you. It was much smaller than the one he and Colter fit in though. You took the vest, followed by Russell handing you a thigh holster. âI thought you were going to tell me to stay in the car.â
âDonât get me wrong, I want you to stay here,â he said, bending down to buckle the straps against your thigh, pulling it taut. He looked up with a half-smile before taking your gun from the back holster and putting it inside, tossing the other one in the trunk.Â
âWhat areâŚâ He zipped up your jacket all the way and pulled the vest on over your shoulders, fixing your hood before tightening the sides so the vest hung tight to your body. âRussell.â
He shrugged, green eyes nervous but gentle. âYou have let me teach you self-defense, how to reload and shoot, tactics and stealth so youâd be safe doing reward work. Youâve done it all without complaint. I want you to stay at the car but I know my queen of darkness. You can do this. You told me once before you wanted me to show you how to do things, not do them for you. So letâs go do this together.â
You smiled, running your hand over the vest. âHow long have you had this?â
âI bought it the first reward job you took. I figured someday youâd need it.â He put on his own gear and locked the car, inhaling deeply. âIf you want to change your mind-â
âThat building is massive. You canât go in alone.â He nodded, closing his eyes. âAm I liability to you? Serious question. If I go in there with you, does it make things harder if Colter is in there?â
Russell peeled open his eyes, smirking as he planted both hands on your face and kissed you hard.Â
âI always worry, qark. Whether youâre in there or out there.â He touched his forehead to yours, hot breath fanning over you. âYou do not have to go in. Absolutely you do not have to. But if my girl wants to do this with me, then Iâm glad Iâve got her for a partner.â
âThank you,â you whispered, Russell lifting you up into a hug.Â
âBut if shit goes down, you run.â You shrugged, Russell groaning. âAlright, alright, Rambo. Follow my lead and stick close. Bobbyâs going to contact my friend in two hours if he doesn't hear from us so letâs get a move on.â
âAge before beauty,â you said. He narrowed his eyes.Â
âYeah, keep it up younginâ and next time youâre in that outfit Iâll teach you a lesson.â You glanced down to his groin, Russell growling. âY/N.â
âSorry.â He nodded, checking his gun before letting in hang by his side.
âStay low and quiet. Clear your corners and donât hesitate to use your weapon. You sure you want to go in?â
âLetâs do this.â Russell checked your gear one more time before you headed into the forest, jogging through it for a moment. You stopped at the edge when Russell held up a hand. He reached into his back pocket, revealing a small scope. You knelt by his side, looking around as he mumbled to himself.
âGood news and bad news. Good news is thereâs only one vehicle and itâs a car which means most likely thereâs four guys or less. Could be more but odds arenât in favor. No cameras from what I can tell. Bad news is two outside guards. Itâs going to be hard to get in.â You pursed your lips. âWhat are you thinking?â
âIf we each get one-âÂ
âY/N,â Russell scolded. You frowned, his face softening. âThose guys are huge. Odds are they grab you before you get the guy out cold.â
âRussell. I fought off Owen when I was roofied when I was younger. You have taught me so many moves. I wouldnât risk Colter if I didnât know that I can take out a guy that size. Trust me. Please.â He lowered his head, shoulders sagging.
âIf heâs not going down, shoot him.â You agreed and then the two of you were jogging across the dark grass, coming to a stop against the concrete wall of the building. Russell pointed you forward and you went ahead of him, gun in front of you, squeezing the cold metal tight.
The guard rounded the corner quickly though, startled by the sight of you. You ducked fast, Russellâs fist flying out where your head had been. It connected hard with the guardâs jaw and he slumped against the wall, crumpling down in a heap. You stood up, Russell tapping your shoulder before stepping in front of you. After a moment the guard was restrained, tape over his mouth. Russell peaked around the corner before holding up a hand for you to stay back before he disappeared.Â
Ten seconds later he returned, body slightly less tense. He nodded and you jogged over to him, keeping behind him as you went through the door and past the other out cold guard with hands and feet secured.
The building was large, some warehouse space, offices on either side. Russell sighed silently before going left. You walked backwards behind him for a few minutes as he cleared room after room after room with nothing to show.
âItâs taking too long,â he whispered. âI canât check every room fast enough if the guards check in on a schedule.â
âI can finish the hall. Do the other side. Youâre faster without me,â you murmured. Russell stared at you for five seconds then planted a kiss on your forehead.
âBe safe. Iâll be right back.â Silently, he went the way youâd came from and disappeared around the corner. You turned your attention back on the six or so offices to go with a thick swallow. Without Russell by your side, your nerves came front and center. But you couldnât stand there forever. There was probably someone else inside and Colter wouldnât hesitate if you were in his shoes.
You steadied yourself and cleared a dark, empty office, then another. The second to last door pushed open easily, bright light hitting you in the face.Â
There was barely enough time to register Colter in a chair, someone behind him with a knife and then the manâs hand was moving fast towards his throat.
The trigger pulled hard as you squeezed it once, twice, three times. You couldnât hear over the ringing in your ears as you did wide sweeps of the room. No one else was in there and after finding the man slumped on the ground was dead, you rushed to Colter whoâs head hung low.
âColter. Colter,â you urged. He was shaking as you tilted his chin up, a thin line of red on his throat but not deep. You closed your eyes. Fuck, a second later and Colter would have already bled out by now.Â
But something wasnât right. His clothes were wet, skin ice cold. Your eyes darted upwards when you felt cold air conditioning kick on overhead. It was only then that you noticed the dead man was wearing a winter jacket for some reason.
You checked Colter over after cutting him free, a few bruises on the face, bruised ribs from his labored breathing and you winced when you patted his shin and felt how swollen it was. You cut up his pants leg and saw the deep bruising, very highly a broken bone in there.
Another gun shot rang out nearby and you spun around with your gun, aiming at the door. Russell appeared a few moments later, sighing in relief. But his face fell when he saw Colter violently shaking in the chair, arms wrapped tight around himself.
âWhatâs-â
âHeâs hypothermic,â you said, cutting up his pants, Colter shaking his head. âWe need to get him out of these wet clothes and warmed up now.â
âY/N-â
âRussell, heâs not stable.â You finished cutting off his pants and had his pullover halfway off. âCall your FBI friend and tell him we need a med evac to a level 1 trauma center. In the meantime, go kill the A/C and get my med kit from the car.â
âGot it,â he said, turning to leave. âI found Alexis.â
You looked over your shoulder at him, Russell smiling. âSheâs roughed up but she convinced these guys-â
âIâm sorry but does she need medical attention, yes or no?â He shook his head. âThen go do as I ask.â
Russell took off down the hall, Colterâs wet clothes dropping to the ground. You got behind him and put your arms under him and around his chest, hoisting him up.
He screamed at the sudden pain in his side and leg but you could deal with that later. Right now, he was too fucking cold. You walked backwards out of the room, Colter whining the whole time which frankly scared the fuck out of you.
Colter was stoic. Tough as nails like Russell. Calm in moments of terror.
Scared, hurt, out of control Colter made you heart feel like it was being stabbed.
âSâokay, Colt. I got you. Youâll feel better real soon,â you said, dragged him down the hall and into an office youâd found a couch in earlier. You jerked when you noticed a shadow at the doorway.
Alexis was hiding halfway behind the doorframe, wide eyed at you. âI-I can help.â
âYou know what a space heater is?â She nodded quickly. âFind them and bring them back here. Quickly. I saw a few in this hallway.â
She ducked away as you lowered Colter to the ground and plugged in the space heater youâd saw in there, turning it to the max.Â
You found a wooden chair and kicked at it with your boot until it broke apart. Taking two long pieces, you placed them on either side of Colterâs leg and removed your vest, jacket and shirt.Â
âAnd you said my red jacket was ugly,â you teased, laying it over his shivering form. âToo visible if I recall.â
His fingers squeezed the material so tight it started to tear, your heart breaking for him. You leaned down close, wiping the wetness out of his hair with your shirt. With a sigh you kissed his forehead, Colter mumbling something you couldnât make out.
âI know you know youâre in shock. Everything is fine. All I want you to think about right now is a story Iâm going to tell you. Okay? Just lay back and listen.â You soaked up more water with your shirt and leaned back, removing your tank top, leaving you in just a black bra. âYou know Russell bought me this bra back when we went on that trip to Paris last month. I know we told you about it and you did a lot of humming like you couldnât care less, remember?â
You shredded the tank top with your hands into strips, laying them over and under his broken leg. âIâm going to splint your leg now.â
âSo there was I,â you said, pulling tight, Colter nearly doubling over as you did the few other spots quickly. âIn Paris with your brother of all people and heâs bought me all these nice pajamas and lounge sets and other things you donât need to know about when he says, letâs take a few days trip to Africa. Letâs go to the desert. Now, I donât know about you but if youâve never been to the desert, itâs hot as fuck.â
You made sure his leg was straight before fixing your coat on him, Colter shivering into your hand. Alexis returned with three space heaters and you quickly go them on and around him.
âWhen youâre in the desert, you can feel the sun prickle your skin. You know that feeling? The heat from the rays literally warming you, getting inside. It makes you so hot. It reflects off the sand, like hot sand at a beach, right back at you. Itâs like youâre on a baking sheet, hot out of the oven, baked on all sides.â
Colter was still shivering but he was starting to relax, less violent shakes coming out now.Â
âYou ever have a sunburn like that? I bet you did. Your nose and cheeks got all red, your skin so hot. I know you Shaw boys were always outside. Russell gets these freckles when heâs out in the sun. Do you get them too? A nice hot summer day, out on the water with a warm breeze.â
Russell entered the room, kneeling beside you. âChopper will be here in thirty.â
âOkay,â you said, Colterâs head turning to the side. âRest up for me big guy.â
You got up and pulled Russell to the back corner, nodding at Alexis sitting on the couch. âWhat?â
âRussell, you should take her to the nearest hospital.â He frowned, biting his tongue though as you held up your hands. âSheâs not as bad as your brother but sheâs dehydrated and cold.â
âNo, I need to stay here in case Duvelâs guys show up. You take her-â
âIâm sorry, are you a doctor? Do you know what to do if Colter has a heart attack? A seizure? Those are very real possibilities right now, Russell. I need to warm him up and calm him down the right way and I canât worry about her right now. I need you to take care of her. Please.â
He closed his eyes. âFine but Iâm tossing those two guys in the trunk of their car. And put your vest back on. And keep an eye on the door-â
âShaw.â He opened his eyes, finding you glaring at him.Â
âPlease help him the best you can,â he whispered. You hugged him, Russell squeezing you tight before he was moving and out the door with Alexis under his arm. Only the hum of the space heaters and Colterâs incoherent mumblings could be heard as you sat down beside him.Â
âHere you go,â you said, resting the vest over his injured leg to try and give him some warmth. You held your gun in your hand as the other rested on his forehead. Fuck, he was still too cold. Slowly, he peeled open his eyes, looking so young for the briefest of moments. âI have one last idea. But itâll hurt.â
He nodded very slowly before closing his eyes tight. âIâll be right back.â
You jogged out to the warehouse and hit the switch to open the bay door, quickly breaking into the luxury car out front and pulling it in. You left it on and hit the heated seats to low, rushing back to Colter where he was breathing shallowly. âCome on, bud. This should help.â
He groaned when you pulled him through the halls and out to the warehouse, cursing a long string of profanities at you that felt like the closest Colter Shaw had ever gotten to going absolute ape shit.
The ache in your chest eased when he hissed at the contact with the seats and then, you swore on your life, he cooed like a newborn baby. With the heat blasting in the car and thanks to the seats warming his bare skin, he finally passed out with a smidge more color to his skin.
âOkay,â you sighed, resting your head against the wheel. âYouâre going to be okay.â
The Next Evening
âHey,â said Russell. You didnât acknowledge him as you watched flames flicker in the outdoor fireplace back at home. He sat down on the couch behind you, pulling you back into his lap. âCanât sleep?â
âNo,â you said, leaning your head back against his shoulder. You tucked yourself into him, Russell wrapping his arms around your body. âHowâs Colter? He sleeping yet?â
âOh, heâs annoying as hell. Little shit thinks heâll be driving out of here tomorrow morning.â
You groaned, Russell humming. âHe broke his damn leg. He isnât driving for at least a month. He is staying with us at a minimum until that cast is off.â
âIâm not the one you have to argue with.â You sighed, Russellâs long legs shifting around to lay over top of yours. âYou want to talk about it?â
Your eyes welled up, Russell sensing your tension. Your eyelids squeezed tight, something heavy boiling up under your skin.
âWhatâs the hardest thing? Killing someone? Or almost losing Colter?â he asked quietly. You shrugged, turning your head down to your lap. âHe hurt-â
âMy little brother died of hypothermia.â Russell went rigid behind you, turning you in his lap so youâd face him. Your bottom lip wobbled as he pulled you in close, his hands on your back. âThe car accidentâŚit was winter. My mom died on impact but we went down a ravine. My dad went to get help for me and my brother but it was so cold and we had no heat and Charlie was so hurtâŚthe last thing he ever said was how cold he was.â
You looked over Russellâs shoulder at the dark lake, save for a few homes with lights on across the water.
âI donât care that I killed that son of a bitch after what he did to Colt. But I justâŚâ You inhaled shakily, gripping Russellâs hoodie tighter. He shushed you, rubbing his hand up and down your back.Â
âHeâs home with us. Heâs safe,â said Russell softly. Long fingers stroked through your hair, tucking you into his neck. âI think Charlie would be really proud of you for protecting Colter like you did.â
âI should have protected him too,â you mumbled. Russell sighed, quietly embracing you. âYouâre an older sibling. You understand.â
âBullshit.â You leaned back fast, glaring at his stern green eyes. âYour dad was an amazing doctor and he left two injured kids. He was either a moron which I doubt or your brother had internal bleeding which made him say he was cold. If it was hypothermia you would have died too.â
âNo, my dad said-â
âWas this before or after Owenâs fucked up mob family started drugging your dad so he had psychosis?â Your voice caught in your throat. Russell raised his eyebrows. âSweetie, do you even know why Charlie died?â
âIt was hypoâŚâ You unraveled yourself from him, planting your bare feet on the warm deck. You gripped the couch cushions, closing your eyes, medical facts bouncing around your head. âJesus, Russ. Why did I thinkâŚâ
âBecause your dad said it. He probably never even remembered he did. Deep down, he didnât blame you so you shouldnât blame yourself.â
You stood up, stepping in front of the fire with your arms crossed. You titled your head back, inhaling deeply. âHe said a lot of mean things when I was a teenager, as I got older. But at the funeralâŚhe was still himself. He didnâtâŚâ
âNo, he didnât.â Russell stood behind you, curling his arms around your chest, trapping you against his strong warm frame. âSo back to my original statement. Charlie, hell your parents too, I know theyâre proud of you.â
âI killed a guy,â you scoffed.
âYou saved a woman, helped catch a murderer, expose corruption throughout a small town, bring closure to a dozen families with missing loved ones-â
âRussell,â you groaned.
âAnd you saved my little brotherâs life all while risking your own. We are damn proud of you, my queen of darkness.â Your head tilted backwards to look at him, Russell grinning back. âNo objection?â
âFine. You wore me down. I did good,â you grumbled. He chuckled against your ear, giving you a tight hug.
âThe words every man loves to hear from his girl,â he laughed, giving you space to turn and hug him back. âYou want to try sleeping?â
âIn a minute. I want to check on him quick.â
âDonât be long,â he whispered. He pressed his lips to your forehead, letting them linger. You gave him a hum and slipped inside, walking down the hall to the guest room. You cracked open the door slowly, Colter laying in bed with a frown.
âNeed some pain killers?â you whispered as you entered, shutting the door behind you.Â
âNo,â he grumbled, glancing up at you when you took two pills out of the bottle on the nightstand. âI overheard you and Russell.â
You sat on the edge of the bed, Colter grabbing your arm. He tried to sit up, relenting when you pushed on his shoulder. âRest. I know thatâs a foreign word to you but you have to take things slow if you want to recover correctly.â
âAnd you need to realize this job is dangerous and I am not your responsibility.â
âNo, youâre not.â You ruffled his messy hair gently, Colter pouting. âBut thatâs what family does for each other.â
He wanted to retort but bit his tongue, grumbling as you fixed his blankets and made him take a painkiller.Â
âWhy didnât you tell me you and Russell got engaged?â You glanced down at your hand and the shiny silver band on your finger.Â
âWhen did you notice?â
âWhen you shot that guy. It helped to think of something else for a bit.â You nodded, playing with the ring. âWhenâd he ask?â
âAbout a week ago. We wanted to surprise you and Dory.â His hand fell down to yours, giving it a light squeeze. âColter, I know you have your issues with your brother but we love you. I know youâre going to hate it but you need to stay here for awhile. At the very least you need to stay with Dory if not us. You canât be alone right now.â
âI will try to not complain too much,â he said. You smiled, leaning down to hug him. âThank you for finding me.â
âLetâs not make a habit of it is all,â you said, getting up and pushing his glass of water closer. âNeed anything else?â
âIâm good.â You went to the door, Colter clearing his throat. âY/N?â
âYeah?â
âThat red jacket is still fucking obnoxious.â You flipped him off, Colter cracking a smile.Â
âGoodnight, asshole.â You turned off his light for him and found Russell curled up in the blankets in bed.
âHowâs the patient?â he mumbled, big spooning you as soon as you were tucked under the covers.Â
âHeâs going to be alright.âÂ
âDid you ask him about being in the wedding yet?â
âOne step at a time, hun.â He chuckled, burying his face against the back of your neck.Â
âTry to get some rest too, qark.â You closed your eyes, nodding once. âLove you.â
âLove you too, Russ.â

A nice story about Jensen Ackles on Reddit. Text:
Poster: I âworkedâ with him/ for him for several years before I realized he was a celebrity/ on a major tv show.
I swear he is the most humble, genuine, and respectful man Iâve ever worked with. Probably why I never would have guessed he was famous.
Question: What did you do for him?
Poster: Full disclosure- this was from 2011 to 2012 (ish) so I dont remember the smaller details of our interactions, but anywayâŚ
I worked at a high end âexecutive car serviceâ. Basically wealthy business people, agents, sports players, etc. would book us for an SUV or town car to take them to meetings, the airport, whatever. We didnât have limos or party busses or anything, it was strictly for professionals in a professional setting.
Anyway, I had been talking with Jensen usually twice a week for a good 6+ months. Iâd book him trips to the airport in Canada and Malibu? I think thatâs where the CA side was. All I really knew was he âtraveled a lot for workâ and his wife and new baby were at home.
I worked with major assholes, which was to be expected. Attorneys assistants especially. They would get fired if they didnât use the right colored post-it. That kinda crap. So they understandably were always stressed the hell out, which would get taken out on me. Whatever. Thatâs all part of the game.
But anytime I answered the phone and it was Jensen, I knew at least for those few minutes my job would actually be enjoyable. Heâd always ask about ME. How my day was, what the weather in SoCal was like since heâd be on his way there. Small talk, but always SO damn nice. Heâd occasionally mention how heâd miss his family during the longer trips or tell me how itâd be a short stay that particular week so heâd be able to get back home to his baby. SO sweet.
One day months later the owner of âmyâ company called me to ask about the schedule. Mentioned Jensen was to be picked up the following day and she chuckled and asked, âyou know who that is, right?â Uhhh, no? Then she told me he was on tv and was traveling to film every week. Based on how humble, soft spoken, and incredibly nice he was, I figured he was just starting out in the business or was kinda an unknown. Thatâs when my boss told me he was shooting this huge show, he was really famous, etc etc.
I never woulda guessed it in a million years. With celebrities, we always dealt with their agents. Jensen would always pick up the phone and call me himself. He just seemed like a completely normal, humble guy who didnât let his fame change who he was.
I worked there for another several months and then moved onto a different company, but damn did I miss âworkingâ with him. I always knew thereâd be no drama when he called.
To this day I still havenât seen him in anything (or even a single episode of Supernatural) but Iâll always hold a soft spot for him just based on the way he treated me. I was relentlessly harassed but he was always so, so kind.
#jensen ackles#jensen#praise for jensen#what a nice memory#2011#just wanted to add this to the archive#ppl remark so consistently on how kind and down to earth he is <3#(#but might actually be 2013)

Please bring back the anon mode, I fear sharing my opinions publicly like the coward I am. Since your name is atop Visenyaâs hills, I have to ask
Do you think the fandom mischaracterize her too much? I always see it in fanart, discussions that Visenya was the big bad person and Rhaenys the good natured silly princess and last time I checked both of them were trifling at times. I like Rhaenys duality as a trifling at times character but truth is still that she was wilding out.
Rhaenys went ahead and instigated a war in Dorne by bunting Planky Townđ civilians, not the ports, not the exits, old, women, and childrenđ I never seen one conquest of hers where she didnât get to violence.
Rhaenys depsite being the favourite wife still had affairs. Before the ârumours by the maestersâ gang come for me, Rhaenys was the most liked of the two wives. Visenya is accused of sorcery and even when itâs admitted people thought she was beautiful they had to add âEven those who loved her best found her beauty to be more austere than her sister Rhaenysâ. They canât even let her have her stans. Itâs also funny that Rhaenys surrounds herself with comely young men, can you imagine a man surrounding himself of comely young ladies, mummers and dancers, no matter how fond of the arts he was! Now Aegon still spending 10 nights with Rhaenys over Visenya maybe a form of cuck fetish, maybe she was having affairs to stress him out so heâd overdo attention to her but thatâs not my point. Maybe since it was an unconventional marriage they all fucked whoever they liked and Rhaenys is the one who got caught. Whatever
Visenya maybe was sterner but she wasnât without softness or warmth. Created the Kingsguard, had sense to not surround herself with side pieces, and she was nice enough to Ronnel to be comfortable with her, the child didnât seem distress by her presence despite the giant dragons so I assume she wasnât all mean.
People often use the usurpation as a defining moment but often forget that for YEARS sheâs kinda been pushed to the limit? Aegon straight up neglected her son and left them on Dragonstone, man approved the match to Ceryse who was 10 years older. And Aegon absolutely fostered the distance between Aenys and Maegor because thereâs no other way Aenys would feel bold enough to take Dragonstone from Maegor. Not to forget Aegon had married her to steal her claim to Dragonstone since if married, his claim would supercede hers.
Another mis characterization is that Rhaenys is always curvier (hips, chest) mind you she was the slender one, but Visenya is explicitly described as curvaceous and seductive. They even took away her titties and her rizzđ FREE VISENYA
asljfdlksjdafdkj sorry i kept getting like mean anon messages, i was honestly deleting the most out of pocket ones and posting the ones i thought were funny but i had gotten like 6 in one day and i was like alright enough i can't fucking do this rn and that's why i turned anon off but i'll probably turn it back on soon.
last time I checked both of them were trifling at times.
no because REAL. i do think visenya often has this reputation In The General Fandom as this like unfeeling evil ice queen, not dissimilar from for comparison's sake the way cersei and catelyn are characterized in fandom - her flaws are inflated or made contextless from what she has experienced and people just kinda pretend like she's a one note villain to Rhaenys' sweet charming queen. but i don't think that's at all accurate to how she's characterized in the series nor do i think rhaenys as the ~sweet never wrong favored wife~ is very accurate for Rhaenys. Look at the beginning of the conquest for an example - Visenya rolls up to Cracklaw Point, to a people who don't really want her there, and instead of just threatening them with fire and blood, she just kinda points at Harrenhal and goes "if you submit right now without a fight i won't give you any overlord but the crown itself" which is a pretty nice deal for a region that has been regularly fighting off being ruled by other people! she takes it bloodlessly through diplomacy! now what does rhaenys do when she goes to dorne? she immediately starts making threats! she refuses to see why perhaps the descendants of the rhoynar aren't high on the idea of being ruled by what's left of valyria! she just threatens and leaves. and when it's time to take dorne, what does she do? she burns planky town the home of the orphans of the greenblood, the last stronghold of rhoynish customs and culture! she completely and totally botches the dornish conquest!!
now this isn't to say that visenya isn't also a) weird about dorne (because basically every single targaryen up until daeron ii is weird as shit about dorne) and b) full of vicious and self righteous violence herself. but as you say both of them do some extremely stupid shit yet only one of them has a reputation for being evil!
and yeah, the thing is, while i think aegon is very smart in how he handles his lords (again, outside of dorne) he is dumb as a box of rocks about how he handles his own sons. he's just very clearly playing favorites, letting the rift get bigger and bigger, actively antagonizing visenya, and not only that but like - visenya isn't wrong that there is a slight succession issue here between maegor and rhaena, given that visenya is the oldest wife and the first wife, but he completely handwaves this off, which really heavily implies a rejection of visenya and maegor completely. should they have reacted the way they did? well no lmao but it's stupid to pretend like aegon doesn't set his kids up for failure here when he sees how deeply unhappy visenya and maegor are and does absolutely nothing to help the situation.
Also damn you're right, I have always had this issue with the way the conquerors are depicted, especially the women as being these two barbie bombshells but like, canonically, VISENYA IS HOTTER the same way Rhaena is considered hotter than Alysanne but whereas Alysanne always gets depicted with her yellow hair and mismatched eyes and a kind of cute, round face to Rhaena's much more Valyrian steely looks, Rhaenys is ALWAYS this Valyrian bombshell. Rhaenys should be drawn the same as Alyssa T and Alysanne though like where do we think they got their looks hmmmm??? IT WAS RHAENYS. RHAENYS IS NOT A BOMBSHELL SHE'S A REGULAR LADY. SHE'S 'CUTEST GIRL IN YOUR ANTHROPOLOGY 101 CLASS' HOT!!!!!!! SHE'S NOT A MODEL!!!!!!!!!

Playing nurse (End)
Let me stress, this is not Maeve from the show, but my own Maeve just named the same to send Spencer into hell whenever he thinks about it.
A/N: I have a chronic fear of things ending. I've had this written for like two weeks but I hate the idea of it being over. Sorry, and thank you for everyone who enjoyed my first story on tumblr <33
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Fem!BAU!OC.
Summary: He takes care of her until sheâs finally cleared by the Doctor and he can make good on his promise
Word Count: 1.8k
Warnings: kissing (ew), slightly suggestive at the end but nothing described
Parts: Pt1, Pt2, Pt3, Pt4, Pt5, Pt6, Pt7, Pt8, Pt9, Pt10
be added to the taglist!!
While he had been overbearingly sweet and protective while she recovered, and was let out of the hospital, her pretty new boyfriend still hasnât kissed her.
Not for a lack of trying either.
Every chance she got, she would try and subtly drag him closer, but he always caught on. Giving her a chiding look and turning them back to whatever they had been doing. Sheâd wear her prettiest lip gloss and do stupid things to try and convince him.Â
But his mind was set, until she got cleared by the doctor, no smooching.
Besides, despite his gleaming teasing, she wasnât desperate. After waiting months and assuming he hated her, she can last a few more weeks. For the stitches to heal and the pain to finally stop without meds.
Spencer, true to his word, didnât leave her side. Helping her get back and settle into her apartment, at which he lamented no longer living in âtheirâ house.
That, at least, got him to suck in a painful breath and press a kiss to her hair.
God did he miss that too.
Sure, heâd stayed in the guest room and given her free reign of that master bedroom, but that had been enough - he hadnât needed to sleep in the same bedroom as her to feel close. The whole thing had only three days together but it felt like a lifetime.
Eating every meal together, doing stupid tasks like cleaning and shopping, watching crap reality television and getting strangely into it. He missed being able to casually touch her as his âwifeâ, but girlfriend is an excellent place for them to start again together after everything theyâd gone through.
The fear of losing her had been debilitating, and looking after her now, staying in her spare room, was what he needed.
To see her every day and be reminded that sheâs completely fine.
His damn woman wasnât making it easy in trying to stop her from pulling her stitches or injuring herself further. Those first couple of days, with her constantly trying to sneak a kiss in, she was being impossible. But he wonât - he canât - not until sheâs cleared.
Thankfully his incentive worked and after a while - well, after she had a breakdown in the kitchen and heâd had to hold her and make sure he knows that he wants to but heâs worried about her recovery - and was finally patient.
Thanks to her newfound patience, they fell into a routine; he would wake up in her spare room and go to wake her up with painkillers and new bandages, check on her stitches, and then spend the day together. The two of them are definitely in the honeymoon phase - as Garcia gleefully tells her in every facetime.
Yes, they love each other, but theyâre also so used to having their own space, which theyâll probably love after all this is over. Needing some alone time doesnât mean they donât still completely love each other - but theyâd lived as individuals so long it would take some time to adjust.
The honeymoon phase was saving their ass - and their relationship. Everyday spent together is bliss.
Learning, properly, about each other. She talked about her family, normal in some remote town, and his decidedly less normal childhood. He finally told her about Maeve and why he had been so harsh, which she understood but still called him daft. Honestly they talked about anything and everything. Until Spencer was fairly certain heâd be able to identify her blind, just from the breath she takes before she speaks.
Thanks to his diligence, and her eventual co-operation, it was only two weeks until she could finally get the bandage and stitches removed. With no incidents since she left the hospital.
Once sheâs cleared for duty, and the Doctor begins to send the paperwork through to prove it to Emily, they leave.
Their hands laced together and swinging between them, Maeve chatting excitedly about going back to work. All the way from the office, in the elevator and through the main entrance to the parking lot.
âOh I canât wait to see Penelope. Facetiming just isnât the same.. I want a hug. Plus I miss the smell of stale coffee and the patriarchy.â Giving him a grin as they get closer to her mini, the keys swinging in his other hand. âIs it weird that I miss the serial killers?â
âYou donât miss serial killers, angel. Weâve talked about this.â
But he was smiling all the same, causing her to laugh and lean into his side.
Once again, heâs impressed with his ability to hold any kind of conversation with her when his brain is melting under the constant âGod please I just want to kiss herâ. Just like heâd been struggling against for the past two weeks while taking care of her.
Somehow, Maeve had seemingly forgotten their promise as she was still talking, and heâs not a strong man when it comes to her.
â--I might see if I can babysit for JJ and Will, their kids are adorable. Or maybe finally have that girlâs night, we were meaning to go for one before all this and I miss drinking. Or--â
They got to the car and he turned to hold her against the passenger door, giving her a teasing smile. Smoothing the hair from her face and moving his hands down to her upper arms to hold her still.
âOr, you could spend time with your boyfriend?â
Laughing, she rested her hands softly over his forearms, that teasing look not dropping from her face, and subsequently making his brain melt even further.
Heâs not sure how he lasted two weeks like this.
âMy boyfriend who I spent every day of the last two weeks with?â
âWell-â
âSpence, if you.. monopolise any more of my time, Penelope might just--â
Incredulous, a laugh left him and he cut her off. Leaning down to kiss her as desperately as heâd wanted for the past two weeks. One hand sliding up to her hair, gripping gently to tilt her head back until it hits the roof of the mini, slanting his lips a little harder against hers.
Right here, he knew heâd never get enough of her ever again. Her taste, her lips, the feel of her, her reactions.Â
God, her reactions.
At first sheâd tensed, not quite believing he was finally kissing her. Once it sunk it, she relaxed against him, easing her grip where sheâd started to leave marks and letting her eyes fall shut.Â
Then, once heâd tilted her head back and pushed her a little more insistently against the car, she had actually whimpered against his lips, and he was desperate to chase that little noise as far as she would let him. Her hands moved from his arms to fist in the front of his shirt and dragged him closer.
Until they were all but making out in the hospital parking lot.
When he finally pulled back - dreading his need for air - he kept close. Their foreheads are near but not quite touching, still wanting to be able to look down at her properly. Giving them both a moment to breathe as two weeks, probably longer, washed over them.
Opening his eyes to just look down at her, loving the flushed cheeks and laboured breaths. Loving her.
âAngel.â She hums. âDo you want to know why I wouldnât kiss you while you were recovering?â
It took her a little while to respond, cracking her eyes open to finally meet his again. Sure that he legs wouldâve given out if it wasnât for him holding her up against the car. Not quite trusting her voice yet, she shook her head, the hand not in her hair wrapping around her waist.
And Jesus, but he finds her so pretty like this, glossy eyed and smiling.
âBecause you are perfect sweetheart, and if Iâd kissed you, I wouldnât be able to stop at just one.. or two.. or three.â Punctuating each number with a peck to her lips, which just made her pretty and pliant under his palm. âAnd I didnât want to hurt you.â
Swallowing thickly, she let go of the front of his shirt from the death-grip sheâd gotten on it, smoothing down the wrinkles sheâd made as she cleared her throat from where her heart had blocked it.
Looking back up to meet his gaze as she continued to smooth away the wrinkles sheâd left.
âIâm uh.. Iâm alright now.â
âYes, you are.â
With a smug grin, which looks far too good on his face, she leant in to brush their noses together. A tender action thatâs completely at odds with the heat in his gaze.
That hand around her waist slipped to her lower back, pulling her fully against him and revelling in the way a soft squeak left her lips, and her eyes darted down to his own as if expecting him to kiss her. Quickly darting back up, indignant, when he started to talk instead.
âSo, angel, would you like to call Penelope for a girlâs night? Or would you like to go home with your boyfriend?â
Making a face, and trying to ignore the blush high on her cheeks, she tugged him back down for another quick kiss, which he happily gave her. Trying to act very nonchalant, despite her own obvious excitement.
âLetâs go home, please.â
Finally letting go of her, he reached around to pull on the door handle. Opening up the passenger door for her and ushering her inside.
Leaning his forearm on the roof to lean in and give her another kiss.
âAlright sweetheart, home it is. What should we do? Watch a movie?â
She scowled at him, a sight he loved so damn much now it aches. Which is why it brings him so much glee to shut the door in her scowling face and walk around to the driverâs side, slow as he likes.
Impressed that heâs been able to resist the urge to sprint round and get in the car like he absolutely wants to do. His need to tease her is the only thing stronger than his need to kiss her.
Once he finally got in, she prodded his side, still glaring at him as he belted up.
âIf you donât kiss me some more when we get home, I will be going out with Penelope.â
âDonât worry angel, I plan to thoroughly make up for the last two weeks.â
That got her to shut up, scowl falling away into something far more bashful, a pretty smile settling onto her face as she got comfortable for the drive back to her apartment.
With a happy sigh, he reached to turn the radio on, and then let his hand fall to her thigh, squeezing gently to get her attention - as if she was able to think of anything besides him when his entire presence fills the car and her head and her chest.
Rubbing firm circles to the top of her thigh as that smug grin climbed back onto his face.
âYou wonât need to call Penelope, or anyone else, just yet. I told them that your appointment isnât until tomorrow, so I have you all to myself for the next twenty-four hours.â
Want more?! Good!

The Report Card â Fantasy High Junior Year Ep 17
Itâs Emily Axfordâs World, Weâre Just Living in It
Welcome back to Fantasy High where this monster 3+ hour bombshell of an episode is dropping during one of the busiest weeks of my life! There is SO much going on in this episode that Iâm absolutely going to have to speed through things to get this out before the next episode but Iâll try to hit on all of the most important points. OK, ready, set, letâs go!
We closed out last ep in the middle of downtime where we learned that Jace had a scar from being infected with a rage crystal shatter star and from there we still have a bunch more downtime to get through. Highlights!
Riz investigates the footage from the crystal cam and again has the feeling that he needs to go back to his office and check out any open-ended clues because heâs missing something.Â
Gorgug tries to work on a way to harness the power of the Night Yorbâs darkness since itâs trapped in his van since theyâll probably be fighting a solar deity soon. He does mention it to Henry but not why heâs doing it. He also looks into the Cloud Rider and confirms with the Aviation Club goblin kid that it would be powerful enough to lift the Hangman (referring not to the motorcycle, but to Billâs ship which is now Seacaster manor).Â
Fig writes another Ankarna themed song and rolls an insane 37. Thatâs powerful enough that sheâs able to commune with Ankarna in her dreams. She calms the distressed Ankarana with the paladin spell Atonement and by commiserating that both of their girlfriends are âout of townâ. Ankarna calls Fig her hero and says that âSheâs always knownâ before she wakes up.Â
Fig keeps haunting Ruben's dreams but they're abjured so she can't straight up talk to him. In his dream, she sees his house in Elmville and feels rage as well as fear. She sees a glade in Far Haven Woods and a scared pre-emo Ruben which makes her think that that's where they did whatever they did to kick things off and that maybe the old Ruben is still trapped somewhere.Â
She then goes full Emily Axford andâalong with the help of Fabian, British Kristen, Gorgug, and Adaineâgoes to Rubenâs house and FAKES THE DEATH OF WANDA CHILDA BY KIPPERLILLY. Once sheâs âdeadâ Adaine casts Enlarge on Gorgug and throws a cloak on him so he can take her away the in the same way Buddyâs body was taken away. Itâs the performance of a lifetime with a 34 but the craziest part is they know someone was watching through the window but they have no idea who it was. InSANE. Imagine if itâs just Kipperlilly watching from Rubenâs window like ???????
Finally she gets Eugenia to design a tattoo for Fabianâs bday that will let him cast Ghost Step. Sheâs gonna secretly tattoo it on him because sure why not.Â
Kristen talks to a very stressed Jawbone who has been dealing with a lot of angry kids lately which is, como se dice, troubling considering the whole rage god situation. She downloads him on everything going on and reveals that she was gonna try to have British Kristen steal files so she can see if the addresses of the angry kids form a 24 pointed star but instead she helps Jawbone clean his office and asks if she can have the addresses. He canât give out student info but he says heâll check a map and see if they form a star as well as checking on Jace. Kristen tells him to be super careful because the last teacher they talked to was Yolanda, RIP. (He also mentions the Sophomore Year Hotel Cav fight as being a weird thing that happened and the murder attempt of Lydiaâthings that weâve already flagged as loose ends. Weâll get back to this).
Bobby Dawn is freaking out because they canât find Buddyâs soul in corn heaven. Kristen reveals that heâs not in corn heaven and in fact is following a new god (after confirming he doesnât have a rage crystal). Bobby Dawn thinks heâs being punkedâespecially once Kristen says the new god is her godâs ex-wifeâbut Kristen is being pretty sincere (so sincere that Murph is melting into a puddle anticipating sheâs about to give the game away to one of their least fave NPCsâimo, she didnât give away anything game ending but she was def playing with fire). Bobby tells Kristen to call him if thereâs anything he can do to help find Buddy and Kristen dips to go talk to â[her] friend Murph.â Not Riz, Murph the irl guy, lol. As that happens, Bobby goes to have a whisper convo with his wife Pam who is also there. Suspicious. Â
Riz/Murph makes the connection that Lake Shimmerstone is called that because of the gem filaments that flow from the Mountains of Chaos. It's a classic "no rolls necessary" moment.Â
Kristen finally checks the bylaws and sees that the major change made was that there is no longer any inaugural period post election. So once the votes are counted, whoever wins is president right away. It was a change by Mazey requested by a faculty member--they think Jace.Â
Kristen checks on her brother finally and it doesn't seem like he has a rage crystal but he's pretty bummed that he hasn't been able to convert any of his friends despite being a good paladin. He's also having a little existential crisis because he has non Helioic friends who don't actually seem like scary heathens. But then he was warned that sin might be tempting. Kristen tells him that she understands and that he has to decide whether he knows himself better than their parents. She says she's always around to talk. She then does a Relaxation roll and loses 3 stress tokens! Brennan also has her roll a d6 for the Relationship track roll with Buddy and on a 6, loses her final stress token!
Like Fig, Kristen also gets to commune with her goddess. Cass says that she's trapped and the king will come to Spyre. She says her wife's "fiery hand" grasps her in death and she has to protect her from the upcoming destruction--but she can't do it as herself. She tells Kristen that Ankarna has a champion as well and when Kristen asks who Cass says she already knows the champion. Finally, she urges her to look into what Kalina said because there was to be a good reason for her saying Raghâs name.Â
Iâm going to leave the bullets for a moment (largely because Tumblr gets mad at blocks of text that are too big) to say that Adaine and Fig go to Aydaâs geocache and find an insane amount of spell components which would have been super useful earlier in the year. It also has instruments for Fig including a new bass that Brennan says heâll get Emily the item card for ASAP. Back to bullets!
In his research, Riz finds the location in the Mountains of Chaos of the Temple of the Fallen Sun where Lydia's party members stopped in their travels.Â
Riz looking into the Loam files sees that the person they're after must have had some ability to stun their opponents which is probably the reason for the lack of defensive wounds. He also learns that Ruvina's festival was called the Festival of Frost which sounds a lot like Frosty Fair.Â
He finds some text about something called the War of Shattered Stones which apparently took place around when Ankarna's domain changed.Â
On a hunch that there is more going on with the rat grinding than meets the eye, the whole gang takes a field trip to Lake Shimmerstone and Riz finds evidence that at some point the Rat Grinders were taken here while a massive giant was fighting deadly monsters. That doesnât make sense so they call in some rats to question who tell them that there was a giant fighting these monsters and basically leaving the killing blows to the Rat Grinders so theyâd get the XPâwhich is mechanically insane diegetically but weâre gonna ignore that. The rats also confirm that this was when Lucy was still around. The Bad Kids think that the RGâs made a deal with this giant (who the rats say is a guy btw) to get powered up and they got crystals as their end of the bargain.Â
OK, that basically wraps up downtime. One more piece of business before we head to the Temple of the Fallen Sun! Zara has a talk with Fig where after heaping praise on her, she passes along a messageâthe appearance of a surprise meteor shower which was arranged by Ayda and is the most romantic thing ever. I wonât recap it, just watch it yourself. I canât do it justice. Before Fig leaves for some hot tub time, Zara asks about Figâs evaluation and Fig assures her she already turned it in.Â
Time for a griffon road trip! And strap in because this is a MEATY lore dump. Sandra Lynn brings everyone on griffons to the Temple of The Fallen Sun and Riz brings his files because he canât shake the feeling that heâs missing something.Â
They find this infernal temple littered with humanoid bones and Fig can tell with her divine sense that it's a temple to Ankarna. There is a place where Ankarnaâs name was destroyed and replaced with a Rangerâs symbol that says: Do Not Enter. Fallen Temple. Thereâs also evidence that someone tried to rewrite Ankarnaâs name but itâs not her actual name. Itâs the glyph that means her but isnât her actual name. Which suggests that thereâs a group of Ankarna followers that are trying to do stuff involving her but that donât know her name.Â
Everyone who can loads up on Truesight and See Invisibility before they enter the temple. There are a bunch of pretty good Investigation checks but, in particular, Riz gets a 32 and Fig gets a Nat 20.
Fig sees a vision (and Adaine can see it too--I assume as elven oracle she can just piggyback on anyone else having visions lol) of two giantkin wearing robes with a sun emblem being executed by armored individuals wearing robes with a fiery emblem on it. This temple was built right when Ankarna's domain was changing. Theyâre seeing the old priests of Ankarna being executed by the new ones.Â
It's clear that this temple was built as a part of a state religion--the focus on conquest and strength is very empire-y. Adaine sees some writing in Giant and casts Comprehend Language so she can read it. Thereâs a bunch about the War of Shattered Stone and some new stuff about the temple being built for the glory of the House of Sunstone. They walk through the temple and see all this awful equipment for torture and execution. They get the sense that this is where Ankarna was changed. Her new followers did a bunch of heinous stuff in her name to force her to become infernal. As above, so below and all.Â
Adaine casts Legend Lore and Brennan basically salivates. 30 seconds later, Riz rolls a Nat 20 to Investigate his files. So weâre about to crack this whole thing wide open folks. Letâs do this!
Fig and Kristen explore a chamber and Kristen's shards glow so bright she has to wrap fabric around them so they don't hurt peoples' eyes. They realize that their goddesses have been in this room together before. It's where they got divorced. Fig sees a vision of a bunch of Cass's followers dropping their weapons and backing up slowly and then being brutally slaughtered by the new guard of Ankarna.Â
Adaine's Legend Lore starts: Sunstone was the top clan of the giants and conquered all the others--Thunderfist, Hornspear, Moonspeak, and Frostblade (Lucyâs ancestors). Ships got better which meant people started mingling and so did their gods. Ankarna and Cassandra got married. Things were good for a while but the leaders of the church of Sol didn't like having two sun gods in their pantheon so they whispered in the ears of some of the Sunstone guys that maybe conquest was the way to go (this was when they started conquering the other clans). Â
Clan Frostblade rose up to fight because Ruvina was so concerned with stopping her sister and at the sundering of the Cliff's of Colcath, House Sunstone was destroyed.Â
At this point, Riz realizes the thing he was missing in his files and itâs the thing we noticed ages ago. The weird moment in Sophomore Year. How did Ragh get cursed so he could see Kalina in the first place? Brennan plays the clip, looking like the cat who ate the canary. Porter did âBarbarian Healingâ on him. Thatâs not a real thing. Lay on Hands is though. Porter is the one who infected Ragh. Emily, who has hated this man from day one, is LIVING.Â
Back to the Legend Lore: The sundering of the Cliffs of Colcath. Sundering as in breaking. As in CliffbreakerâPorterâs last name.Â
They start putting things together. Him telling Fig he's a paladin to his ancestors. Gorgug sees him smite a giant stone with the force that would be needed to fell a bunch of trees in the woods. Disasuding Fig from being a paladin of Cass. His connection to Jace from the start. The large figure healing Buddy? Heâs big as hell and Paladins can revivify. And Ankarna telling Fig that sheâs known all along.Â
The Legend Lore Concludes: After the sundering at the cliffs, the remaining Sunstones changed their names (to Cliffbreaker) and went into hiding. The Frostblades destroyed Ankarna's name to free her from the corruption (but I guess that went a little too far and backfired). The name was lost but a lot of Ankarna's true followers waited for her return. That includes Bakur who the Bad Kids realize was trying to bring back not infernal, ragey Ankarna but sunny justice Ankarna. But he was stopped by her mortal followers.Â
Sandra Lynn watching all of this is like, âWell shit,â and points out that if the world isnât already in chaos they must not have everything they need yet. The Bad Kids figure the opposition must be missing the name and a successful election. The election is in four days so thatâs how long they have to stop it. In one final sick fusion of bard and paladin, Fig uses a riff from her base to uncover an older image of Ankarna and Cassandra pre-corruption and then they head back home.Â
(Note: This comes up later retroactively but before they leave, they also check for footprints and see recent ones of Porter, Jace, and Buddy. It looks like they teleported in.)
Kristen casts Sending to warn Jawbone that Porter is bad news and then they speculate some more. There was a question in an earlier episode about what does it actually mean that Ankarna died in the Red Waste. They figure out that it means that the last follower who remembered her name was killed there.Â
They talk to Bakur who says again that he was betrayed by Ankarnaâs mortal followers. He also mentions that even in her infernal state, she would refuse to grant her followers spells when they had plans to hurt her sister or wife (even when Ruvinaâs followers were attacking her).Â
Bakur realized that Ankarna's followers were interested in her power but not in her. Bakur also overheard conversation from Lydia's party that said that Ankarna needed to be remade in a place where a god has been borne. A god. Any god. Riz flashes back to Kipperlilly Jawbone asking where Yes! was borne.Â
Fig with some help from Adaine makes a fake version of Ankarna's name to give to Porter--Bacharath written in Giant. While Fig goes to give this to Porter, Adaine is hiding outside with Detect Thoughts on and Riz is hiding nearby invisible and recording.
Fig finds Porter and tells him and she found a new god and found her name but itâs annoying because she canât read Giant which she needs to do to rez the god. She does it really casually and acts like itâs no big deal and Porter tries to play it cool but Adaine can tell with her Detect Thoughts that heâs chomping at the bit to get that name. She makes sure that Fig crits on her Deception with a portent. He (not at all) causally offers to help Fig translate and snatches the piece of paper from her. Fig then challenges him to spar and he agrees. Brennan asks for a Con roll and when Porter stomps his foot, everyone is immediately stunned (remember the mention of the stun effect and not defensive wounds earlier). Everyone but Riz who rolled a Nat 20. So he keeps his Invisibility. He also gets a high enough luck check to feel that there is someone else invisible nearby, close to Fig and Porter (note: later, Brennan tells Adaine that while she had Detect Thoughts up, for a moment she could detect the thoughts of an invisible KP).Â
The last thought Adaine gets from Porter as her concentration drops on Detect Thoughts is, âDid I lock the office?â
Porter helps Fig up and doesnât actually fight her but it feels like they just saw Porter do a Legendary Action which is a weird thing for a teacher to doâeven a strong one. Fig asks what the hell that was and Porter plays it coy, saying senior year is gonna be really exciting. Riz is absolutely not having that non-answer and Misty Steps into Porterâs office. With his high investigation, he just finds everything so back to bullets:
Thereâs a note where heâs intimidating Halo St. Croix (the paladin teacher) into letting him teach the multiclass paladins.Â
There are MCATs signed for him to teach both Lucy and Buddy paladin lessons.Â
Thereâs an encrypted message between Porter and Bobby Dawn where Bobby is basically saying heâs very happy for Sol to remain the ONLY god of the sun in town but a new war god? That could be OK. He also suggests Porter look into Devilâs Honey for his plan.Â
There's medicine to help with a psychosomatic allergic to feline dandruff (prob Kalina related).Â
Thereâs filo doughâthe kind you use to make baklava (a honey based dessert).Â
Thereâs a leather cord, probably used in the casting of Spyâs Tongue Curse than smells rank.Â
There are tons of blenders full of whey, protein powder, and ambrosiaâfood of the gods. Together, they piece together that mortals arenât supposed to eat ambrosia because it kills them. Not in a violent wayâthey just ascend to the afterlife. They figure that Porter is basically eating god supplements, with the intention of supplanting Ankarna and becoming the new god of rage. Explains why he suddenly has legendary actions.Â
Thereâs some cryptic, vague communication with the Rat Grinders which doesnât give much away but is enough to tip them off that Rubenâs house is the place where they plan things.Â
With that they go to investigate Rubenâs place. Before they go, Riz sets up a dead manâs switch that will release evidence if he doesnât stop itâjust in case they get trapped or held up or something. Adaine also calls her sister so she can cast a bunch of protective wards on Fabianâs placeâsheâs a master abjuration wizard after all.Â
Riza goes in first and disables all the traps in Rubenâs house which means they wonât get caught but the RGâs will know someone was there later. Hereâs everything they find and, like the rest of this episode, itâs a lot:
Adaine finds Oisinâs workstation and most notably finds a picture of his dragon ancestor hanging out with Kalvaxus, some notes about the Cloud Rider, and notes about stealing summons from other people (remember Adaine's mephits going haywire at Fabian's party). There's also some notes about a way to write telekinetically on the inside of a sphere. Theyâre not sure what that means.Â
In Ruben's sound studio, they find notes from Porter helping Ruben write the song Get Mad--the song he did at Frosty Fair.Â
Gorgug hacks into their private servers and sees all their communications. KP insists that they only call Cass the Nightmare King and (presumably) refers to Porter as the "Big Guy". She says he wants the Nightmare King and should have her locked down sooner rather than later just as soon as she shows herself in the Astral Plane. There's also stuff from last year where KP is really excited. She says the Big Guy has been looking out for them for a while and she's hyping Lucy up saying she gets to be the champion (something we know she didn't want). KP is specifically excited that this will allow them to keep up with the Bad Kids. Jace is also mentioned as a conspirator under the acronym JSD which isnât slick at all lol.
Kristen sees evidence of Buddy helping with a ritual and stuff about where a god was "borne" (spelled correctly) so clearly they know a lot about what's going on. She also finds out what KP wants to do once she's President: she wants to shut down Aguefort as a school forever which will nullify the protections and wards it has centered on it, the big one being that Elmville can't be moved to any other plane of existence while school is in session. They think the Rat Grinders want to teleport the whole townâperhaps to set up a divine domain. Which would need followersâspecifically angry followers. IDK about yâall but I feel like being randomly teleported to the Astral Plane would make ME pretty angry.Â
There are texts post Lucy but pre Buddy where they're like what are we gonna do now? There's a "We're all in this together now" vibe (like some kind of twisted High School Musical) and they resolve to "talk to the Big Guy"
We learn Buddy was chosen for the same reason Lucy was a good candidateâconnection to Ankarna. Lucy because Ruvina was her sister and Buddy because of similar domains (Helioâs domain is a Solar offshoot). Also I didnât mention this before but Buddy did *not* know what he was doing. Oisin and Ivy are joking about his cluelessness behind his back (Booooo I was rooting for you dude).Â
Thereâs a message from Jace telling them to stop antagonizing the Bad Kids even though they want revenge which leads the Bad Kids to question what they ever did to them.Â
In Oisin's room they also find a lot of stuff about dragons and an image of a fetal god being protected by the Nightmare King. Also they remember how cloudy the Nightmare King's realm was (maybe a cloud rider connection?)Â
Deep breath, this is a lot of stuff and weâre almost done.Â
There's stuff about the Thistulespring tree and Rubenâs song spreading the rage vibes that represent the crystals in the ground.Â
They realize that Porter is probably using the Devil's Honey to lie to Ankarna about his intentions as he's communicating with her.
They see that for the ritual they needed a body (Porter), Ankarna's name, the protective storm of the NIghtmare King, and his name inscribed by the champion of the old goddess. They realize thatâs why Zara never got her eval. Fig is the champion and she did Porter and Zaraâs eval on the same sheet which he swiped for this ritual. He literally made Fig a paladin so he could get what he needed. Diabolical. Aguefort needs better hiring practices.Â
OK. Phew. Finally done. They head out and the next day is election day. Porter isnât at school that day which is not surprising but is concerning. They donât see the RGâs either. After school itâs time for the big party/election at Fabianâs place. Mazey gets a booth set up and Jawbone is there as faculty to make it legit. Aelwyn has warded up the place. Fig is there as Wanda cause sheâs a maniac. Adaine is casting Detect Magic continually at the voting booth to watch for shenanigans. Also Ragh shows up and he aced his tryouts! Heâs gonna be a profesh bloodrush player! Hoot growl all around!
But Riz (and honestly Murph) is unsettled. Everyoneâs at this party where Fabianâs victory is a sure thing? All in one location together? Rat Grinders nowhere to be seen? This is WAY too easy. Â
Which is Brennanâs cure to drop the other shoe.Â
Things are just like Adaine's visions...until they're not. The sky was always clear in her visions and now storm clouds are brewing. She gets a Sending spell from someone, "You didn't see the storm coming? Must not be a very good Oracle." Oisin. Suddenly, ping pong balls with runes inside of them start raining down from where they've been stuck in the unkept Seacaster manor for months. From when Oisin "missed" his shots. Telekinetic writing inside a sphere. Runes inside ping pong balls. As they fall, there's a sudden lurch. Winds kick up and Seacaster manor is flying above Elmville. Everyone rolls initiative!Â
Iâm not doing proper Honor Roll/Detention this week because this was such a long episode and I'm exhausted. Honestly, Honor Roll for me for getting this up in time. Detention for Fabian for not using is 10k gold allowance to have someone clean his house in the past 9 months.Â
Random Notes
Gonna just stick to a few plot relevant ones to keep this brief.Â
Re: Adaine not seeing the storm in the same way that the previous oracle couldn't. I wonder if thatâs just a blanket thing that weather evades predictions or if they did the same thing that was done during Kalâs plan to evade that oracle's sight before Aelwyn sunk her ship.
I donât think I made it clear but Porter def killed Yolanda according to this ep.Â
Porterâs Legendary Action is able to stun someone for multiple rounds which in combat would be devastating.Â
Iâm shocked they never tried to talk to Ruvina at any point during the campaign.Â
I am still VERY concerned about Riz being made staff by Jace and given silver. That feels suspicious given we know heâs on Team Porter Ascension.Â
I didnât get into it because it was nebulous and would have messed with the flow of the recap but there was something there about teleportation circles and the Rat Grinders continually casting teleport to make a circle and maybe thatâs how theyâre gonna get Elmville into the Astral Plane. Just mentioning it in case it comes up again.
I donât think we got closure on the âwhere the god was borneâ thing. Because borne means carried, not created, right? I wonder if Seacaster manor would count because the corpse of Yes! Was brought there by Ankarna.Â
The Rat Grinders and Porter have at least 2 obstacles they donât know about. They donât have the real name (unless they got in since Fig gave Porter the fake one) and Fig is literally domain squatting on Ankarnaâs domain. She already called dibs so any claiming will have to go through her.Â
I think itâs really nice that Adaine tried to do a relaxation track for Kristen. Handshake meme, her and Riz.
Emily insisting so hard and consistently that Porter was evil that Brennan just made him evil has some real as above/so below energy lol.

Flying Changes - Chapter Three
A Nessian Equestrian Fic
Masterlist // Previous Part // Next Part
Read on AO3 or below!
CW: withdrawal symptoms of alcohol, discussions of/with alcohol/recovering alcoholics.
This one is a long one, folks. Enjoy <3
A thump landed on the ground as Cassian walked away. He turned to see Nesta, face planted into the ground. He cursed as he ran to her. Quickly he texted the familyâs medic before putting his phone away and gently picking Nesta up in his arms. Her lawyer, Eris, already had his phone out to dial.
âDonât bother. Rhysand has a family doctor. Weâll get her to come see Nesta.â
Eris raised an eyebrow. âAnd shouldnât my client go to a hospital?â
âHospitals aren't going to do much for her right now. They would just ship her off to rehab eventually. And according to her sister, none of the rehabs have worked.â Cassian noted as he started to walk to the house, Eris and the officer were behind him. Out past the pastures, he saw a familiar looking old blue truck drive down the road.
âPlus the closest hospital isnât for another 25 miles down south.â The officer stated. He spoke with a slight drawl that wasnât uncommon in these parts.
âYouâre from Windhaven?â Cassian asked.
The officer shook his head. âIroncrest. Born and raised.â
Ironcrest was a small town north of Windhaven. Not a lot happened there, and not a lot of good came out of it either. The same truck he saw drove up the dirt driveway before stopping in the makeshift lot.
âAre we sure we can trust your nurse?â Eris called out as Cassian stepped onto the porch.Â
A woman cleared her voice behind all of them. Cassian smiled softly at the familiar face. Her brown skin glowed in the hue of the sun. She tipped her hat to Eris and the officer.
âIâm sure you can trust a doctor.â She smiled at Eris before moving past him.
âCassian, take her up the stairs to her room. Iâll be right behind.â
âYes, Madja.â He replied before entering the house.
Nesta was warm and clammy as he shifted her in his arms.
âYouâll be okay, Sweetheart. Youâre in good hands.â
**
Cassian laid Nesta gently on the bed. Her pulse was slow and she hadnât come too yet. Madja came inside the room next, her bag with her. Quickly she went to work checking her vitals. The man stood off to the side, knowing better than to get in her way.
âThis girl has been through it. This is Feyreâs sister that Rhysand mentioned to me?â She asked Cassian.
âThat she is. She just got here last night. Apparently had alcohol in her system.â
She hummed reading the vitals. âIt may be a little early for symptoms but that doesn't mean it canât happen. Sheâll probably be lucid for the next couple days. Iâll stay and watch over her.âÂ
The doctor turned to Cassian. âBut why on earth did you make her do work right away? You knew she was going to go through withdrawal. Why not get her prepared for that?â
Cassian blinked, unsure what his answer would imply. âI thought getting her to work would help with the withdrawal. Feyre mentioned she had been to three different rehabs in the last two years. Everytime Nesta left she would drink again.â He sighed. âI didnât know what I was going up against. I quit drinking mid deployment and the work kept me busy.â
âSheâs no soldier, Cassian.â
Madja crossed her arms over her chest. âThe labor probably caused the body to begin stressing earlier than expected. Eitherway, weâre here now. Youâre lucky I have experience with this.â
She looked over to a photograph on the wall of Ramiel, the biggest mountain in the Night Court. Caleum Valyrian picked up photography after he stopped drinking when his wife Arwen, announced she was pregnant with a daughter; Rhysâ sister, Artemis. Caleum had taken the photo the night before her birth.
Arwen mentioned at one point not long after Artemisâ birth that her husband had a second chance of being a father. Madja helped him through his sobriety journey as she had been looking after Caleum since he was young. It was a long process from what Cassian remembered, but not long after her birth he joined the Air Force and then not even five years later, Caleum and Arwen had died in a fatal car crash.
âAnyway, Iâll stay through the week. This isnât my first rodeo. And Cassian.â
He looked up at her. âYes, mam?â
âGet rid of the alcohol. All of it. I know youâve hidden it. It never ends up staying hidden in the long run. And itâs no good stinking up a home.â
It had been almost four days since Nesta collapsed due to her withdrawal symptoms. Madja had been taking care of her. She had gotten Nesta to settle once she woke up. Cassian had hovered by the door every once in a while. He heard Nesta speak every so often, but her voice was low and soft. She never once screamed or yelled. At least not to his knowledge.
He sighed gently as he pulled his thick hair into a bun before opening up discord on his laptop. He settled into his chair as he hopped onto the group chat call, waiting for others to join.
It was Wednesday, therefore it was family night.
He unmuted the second he saw a familiar face with blue eyes. He smiled brightly.
âHi Fey-Fey.â The nickname he coined to Feyre after he met her for the first time. She hated the name. So it stuck.
Feyre rolled her eyes. âHey Cashew.âÂ
The two dissolved into little giggles like childhood best friends.
âAre you two already scheming?â Another video popped up of a blonde woman drinking red wine.
âMor-Mor!â Feyre said excitedly.
Mor shook her head. âI would gag, but I donât want to waste the wine.â
âClassic, Mor.â A voice shouted from Feyreâs video. Rhys pulled up on screen, wearing a Night Court sunball shirt.
A second passed by before another video joined. It was Azriel, his other brother. He seemed to be on his phone, most likely down at the barn with his horse, Singer.
âI swear Rhys you own everything Night Court coded in your home and that is the most offensive thing. You know we suck at sunball.â He exclaimed.Â
âDid you catch the game the other night? Spring's beaten us again for a third time.â Mor chimed in.
âHey, donât hate the team. Weâre going to get betterâŚEventually.â Rhysand said. The whole call burst out laughing.Â
âI hope everyone is doing okay! But Cassian, I wanted to ask. Howâs Nesta doing? Rhys mentioned Madja was there?â Feyre asked. Worry crossed her face.
Cassian shrugged. âShe seems okay. Madja hasnât left and itâs been several days. The withdrawal kicked in a bit sooner. But Madja says she's doing okay. Sheâll start going to AA tomorrow so I think that will help even more.â
âOh good.â Feyre smiled softly before one last video appeared in the call.
A girl with tan skin and coarse black hair that paired well with the dynasty of almost purple eyes appeared. The fifteen year old smiled as she quickly braided her hair sitting in her pajamas.
âHi Everyone!â She said before narrowing her eyes. âWhat were you all just talking about?â
âNothing that concerns fifteen year olds.â Rhys responded, a small smile on his face. âBut tell us, Artemis, whatâs it like being in the high school dorms now?âÂ
Artemis rolled her eyes. âItâs good. Iâm still rooming with the same girls as last year.â
Artemis attended Dawn Light down in the southern part of Dawn Court. It was an all girlâs boarding school that she had been attending since elementary school. As their parents were dead, Rhysand became Artemisâ legal guardian. Unfortunately his career as a politician didnât give him a lot of time to take care of his younger sister, so he sent her off to a boarding school.
âFreshman year is such a big highlight. Just wait until the dances and the boys!â Mor cheered, taking another sip.
âEw. I donât want to be around boys.â Artemis turned green at the thought.
âThatâs what I like to hear.â Rhysand responded before Feyre smacked him on the shoulder. He turned to her and gently kissed her hand. The two looked at each other, a secret conversation happening.
âYouâre not alone and this isnât an OnlyFans chat, so please stop making sex eyes with Feyre.â Artemis complained.Â
Cassian bulked out a giant laugh. The kid had always been sassy but she was at that age where the sass upped ten times more.
âFirst off, how do you know about OnlyFans? Secondly I am not making âsex eyesâ with Feyre.â
âI donât know, Rhysie. That seemed very sex eyes heavy to me.â Cassian joked.
His brother glared at him and flipped him off. Everyone laughed.
âIâm fifteen and the internet exists. So I know things.â
Rhysand looked like he was halfway between jumping on his plane and bringing her home, or buying the school so he could manage the internet down there.
âSettle down, everyone.â Feyre calmly said. She had a genuine smile on her face.
âRhysand and I have something to tell you all actually.â She looked up at him knowingly. He smiled and nodded, taking her hand in his.
âIâm pregnant.â
There was a brief moment of silence before the call erupted in cheers. Cassian smiled proudly at his best friends. It had come as a surprise to Cassian, given they werenât engaged yet
Although that might change soon given that he does have the ring. Cassian thought to himself as he recalled Rhysand showed the ring to him and Azriel roughly a few weeks ago.Â
âCongratulations! Which one of us is gonna be the godparents?â Cassian asked.
âNone of you if I can help it.â Rhysand replied, wearing his classic smirk.
âIâm going to be an aunt? Oh my god?!â Artemis squealed.Â
Mor set down her glass, clapping. âA baby always brings good luck!â
Azriel smiled softly. âShould Cass and I look into buying a pony for them yet?â
âIf you two want to waste your money, be my guest. But perhaps our child will be sensible like their father and not be a big fan.â
âAs if! If youâre a Valyrian youâre horse people. Unless of course your name is Rhysand.â Artemis joked.
Cassian laughed.âThatâs a good one, Arty.â
Rhysand shook his head, rolling his eyes, but before he could counter anything, Feyre spoke up. âWeâll wait and see. They might be a horse person. Or maybe even a mule like their father.â Feyre smiled with a toothy grin at Rhysand.
Another roar of laughter escaped everyone, even Rhys. He kissed her head gently before she leaned against him.
âWell if weâre spreading good news, then I want to let everyone know that this is the first year I can try out for the eventing team at school.â
Feyreâs smile tightened just a little. âOh thatâs great, Artemis. How is your horse doing?âÂ
The girl shook her head. âKitty is doing great. I think sheâs excited to start eventing too..â
The girl learned how to ride before she could even walk properly, courtesy of her mother. Since a young age she wanted to compete in three-day-eventing. Cassian remembered Rhysand being very hesitant, but one of the best coaches was currently at Dawn Light.Â
Three summers ago, Rhysand and Artemis went to the Velaris horse auction. It was one of their motherâs favorite events and always landed on her birthday. During the auction they sell all kinds of horses for different mediums, and when eventing came up, Artemis was on the edge of her seat. There was a palomino morgan horse that walked in, and that was that.Â
âWell good luck with try-outs!â Cassian smiled brightly.
âYouâre gonna be amazing, kid!â Azriel smiled knowing that she would.
âThank you everyone. Anyway, itâs late and I have classes in the morning. Talk to you guys later. Oh and I want baby names, Feyre! Send them all my way!â Artemis beamed before hopping off the call.
One by the one they all did the same before Cassian sighed, turning off his laptop. He wanted to go to sleep, but it never came. So Cassian dressed and went downstairs to the corral that was located near the house.Â
The moon was near the shape of a crescent as he walked underneath the stars as he approached the corral where a thoroughbred mare trotted around. He stood on the other side of the railing as he watched her tread in the circle. Taking his phone out he shot Feyre a text about what food Nesta liked. If she was going to be staying here for awhile, they probably should get her things that she likes.
âI donât understand what you saw in her.â Azriel called out from behind him. Cassian tucked his phone back into his pocket feeling it vibrate with an answer.
âI thought you quit.â Cassian didnât bother to turn around as the nostalgic smell of cigarettes contained the air. It slated him with the memories of nicotine usage from his old unit. It was as if that was from a different lifetime.
âI did, but here we are.â His brother said, taking a deep breath.
âHere we are..â Cassian mumbled back.
The brothers watched the mare begin to neigh and paw the ground.
âAnd you thought she could be a therapy horse?â
Cassian shrugged. âThe owners said she could and they needed her off their hands. It was either that or the slaughter house.â
Azriel rolled his eyes. âCassian, you cannot save every horse from a terrible fate. Sometimes itâs what needs to happen.â
âI know Az, but when I saw her, I just had that feeling you know?â
His brother gave him an âare you for realâ look in answer.
Taking another drag, Azriel blew the smoke then coughed.
âI know you see yourself in her. But maybe whatâs broken is intended to be broken. That horse isnât going to be a therapy horse. That horse needs therapy.â
The mare nodded her head as if agreeing with Azriel. She blew her nostrils before neighing again.
âEveryone has a story, even the broken ones.â Cassian said. âAnd sometimes they need their stories heard over the rest.â As the ranch manager walked off leaving behind the smoke and stress for another day, the chronic pains of his shoulder and knee began to flare up as he climbed the stairs to his bedroom.
**
Sunlight snuck through the crack from the curtain in Nestaâs room. She groaned at the warm intrusive light that shined in her eyes when she woke up. The last few days were intense. The worst of it was over as she mainly got sick and passed out constantly. Thankfully Madja made everything much more simple as she kept looking out for her the entire time.
âGood morning, Nesta.â The medic called out gently.
Nesta sighed before sitting up slowly. âMorning.â
Madja gave her a once over before she smiled. âYou seem much better than how I met you a few days ago. Your withdrawal symptoms have decreased significantly. Youâll still have them for a remaining time, but I believe the worst is over. So now youâll be able to go to AA tonight.â
The urge to drink still lingered deep down, but she couldnât do that anymore. Not unless she wanted a worse punishment.
âThank you. You didnât have to do all of that.â Nesta spoke softly.
âWell you might have died if I didnât come here fast enough. Thankfully Cassian has me on speed dial. Especially after his last fall where he broke his wrist.â
Nesta cocked her head before pulling her knees to her chest. âHow did he manage to do that?â
âBy pulling some stupid trick with his horse. Bucked him right off and landed on a log.â
A small smile appeared from Nesta as she imagined it. âThat does sound stupid.â
Madja rolled her eyes. âYouâre telling me.â She placed a hand on the bed, careful to not touch the young woman.
âWould you like to talk about anything? I donât share anything personal that my patients say.â
Nesta glanced at her chipped red toe polish before she rested her head on her knees. Gnawing emotions crawled deep within herself to break the surface, but she had been living with them for so long, it was natural to resent. Push it all down.
âNo. I donât.â Nesta waited for the backlash, but instead Madja simply nodded.
âThatâs fine, my dear. I encourage you to speak when youâre ready. With someone you trust. But Iâm not going to push it. Youâll know when youâre ready.â
The old woman smiled gently before she left Nestaâs room, leaving her alone. Madja was right, the cravings were still there, but it was less than before. Quietly, Nesta stood up from the bed and got changed into a t-shirt, jeans, and old barn boots before she went down the steps.
When she appeared in the kitchen, she found a plate of food and a note. There were no apples on the table, instead there was a bag of clementines from the brand cuties. A sweet sigh escaped her as she stared at her favorite fruit. But a note was left next to the plate. She picked it up.
Nes â She rolled her eyes before continuing.
Feyre mentioned you like cuties, so I grabbed some for you. Please be sure to eat some and the rest of your breakfast. Donât need you to be passing out again.
Sincerely, Cassian
P.S: Today is the first day of AA. Az will be taking you to and from. He doesnât bite, and if you think he isnât paying attention he most definitely is.
Placing the note down, Nesta grabbed three cuties, stuffed two bacon strips into her mouth, and grabbed a biscuit to go before heading out the door.
The faint scent of ammonia and artificial lemon flowed through the hallways of the WCFW - Windhaven Center for Women. Azriel received notice that her AA meeting would be held in room 105B. Her boots echoed dully on the floor as she made her way to a room at the very end of the hall.
The door was opened but Nesta stopped in her tracks. She looked to her left and back down the hallway. If she wanted to, she could run. Make it on a bus hopefully and get out of this dreadful place before tomorrow. However Azrielâs glare burned in her memory.
âYour AA meetings will be here.â He pointed to the building. âIâll be waiting for you in the truck. If you even think about trying to leave, just know that I was a bounty hunter for the Night Court for 10 years. Not once did I fail in catching someone. You will not be the first.â
So Feyre did mention to him about the time she dipped out of her first rehab and never showed up again. She sighed but before she could muster a step a voice cleared behind her.
âLast time I checked, AA was inside the room, not outside.â
Nesta turned to see a beautiful woman with brown skin with a messy side braid staring at her.
âYouâd be right.â Nesta replied.
The woman gestured to Nesta to move forward. âTake the first step. Youâre already here, you might as well stay and get to know everyone.â
The kindness wasnât an order or a request, but almost a suggestion. If Nesta wanted to, she could leave. But she made it this far. She nodded before crossing the threshold.
The room was similar to any other room she had been in when it involved therapy sessions. The ones she attended while in rehab were all a joke. But this one for some reason, felt real. Maybe it was because of the sentencing and her crime, but Nesta couldnât put a finger on the feeling. She swiftly sat down where no one else was sitting.
The woman from before entered and ended up sitting next to Nesta. She smiled at her.
âLong time no see.â She joked.
Nesta nodded.
The woman held out a hand. She had a tattoo on her inner wrist with a script that read the mountains, the moon, and Mars.
âIâm Emerie.âÂ
âNesta.â She shook her hand.
The room engulfed in silence as their counselor began to speak. She welcomed everyone new and old. She wore a kind smile before introducing herself as Alys.
âLetâs all go around the room. Introduce yourself, how long you've been at AA, and one fact and one lie.â She smiled brightly. âWe can take turns guessing.âÂ
Alys went first. âMy name is Alys. Iâve been attending AA for almost twenty-five years. Iâve been counseling for about ten. I was born and raised in Windhaven and I have three cats, a bird, and two dogs. Whatâs my lie?â
The circle of women looked at one another trying to decipher what was her lie. Emerie turned to Nesta. âAny ideas.â
Nesta crossed her arms, shaking her head. âI donât know. Probably the Windhaven.â
âI was thinking the same.â
She looked at her. âAre you just saying that because Iâm saying that?â
Emerie rolled her eyes. âNo wiseass. Her accent. Itâs not Windhaven. I would know. I was born and raised here my entire life.â She tilted her head to Nesta, questioning her. âWhat made you choose that?âÂ
Nesta shrugged. âHer accent.â She tried to hide her smile as Emerie rolled her eyes again.
The room calmed their voices as Alys asked. The majority of the room decided to go for Windhaven as the lie. Alys nodded. âGood ears everyone. Iâm from Spring originally. My nephews and I moved all up here for a better life than the one that was dealt to me back down south.â
One by one, each woman stood up and presented themselves to the group. Nesta sighed inwardly as she listened. Each one came from a different background, a different story. They were all so interesting, more interesting than mine Nesta thought to herself.
Alys pointed to Nesta. âItâs your turnâŚâ She waited for Nesta to answer.
Nesta stood up, her arms down by her sides, a fist clenching and unclenching, trying to rangle the nerves that flooded her mind.
Nesta cleared her throat. âIâm NestaâŚâ She went quiet. She wanted to sit down. She didnât want to do this. It was stupid. This was so stupidâŚThen she felt something move next to her. Emerie stood up on Nestaâs left. She smiled softly at Nesta before turning her gaze to the rest.
âIâm Emerie.âÂ
A wave of deja vu flowed through Nesta as she was completely caught off guard by Emerieâs action.
Emerie continued. âIâve been coming to AA for roughly three months consecutively for the first time in a while.â She gestured to Nesta.
Nesta opened her mouth, a swirl of words appeared out of thin air. âTodayâs my first day at AA.â
Emerie beamed. âCongratulations.âÂ
âYou too.â Nesta replied.
With a sudden wave of confidence, Nesta stepped forward. âIâve never been to Windhaven before and I have four gold Olympic medals.â
Around the room people whistled and gasped. Nesta could see their gears turning.Â
âI call BS on the medals.â Emerie chimed.
âEmerie!â Alys hissed.Â
The woman smiled apologetically before returning her gaze onto Nesta.
In return Nesta pulled out her phone and quickly looked through old photos. Her screen was cracked and was meaning to get it replaced, however she hadnât gotten around to it yet. Memories blurred together as she raced over her camera roll to find the photo she needed. After another second, she turned her phone around to show Emerie and the whole group.
The photo was of Nesta grinning big after coming home from the Antica Summer Olympic Games. She wore four gold medals, three from that summer and one from the previous summer Olympics at the Summer Court. Her arms were around Flame who seemed happy as he stood relaxed next to her. It was one of the few photos Feyre took of her when she came up to visit after she got back.
It shouldnât have delighted Nesta as much as it did watching Emerieâs jaw drop looking at the photo.
âHoly fucking shit.â
The whole room gathered around the screen. Following with similar comments of Emerieâs.
âWell how the fuck am I going to top that now?â Emerie exclaimed.Â
Nesta nudged her. âIâm sure you can think of something.â
Emerie smudged her lips as she thought for a second before speaking. âI havenât lived in Windhaven my whole life, and Iâve always wanted to learn how to ride horses.â
Emerie and Nesta smiled at one another, knowing which one was the truth.
**
âSo youâre really an Olympian?â Emerie asked as she and Nesta walked out of the building.Â
Nesta shrugged. âIt was a long time ago. I was twenty in that picture. Iâve aged nothing like fine wine in seven years since.â
She stopped as soon as the words slipped from her lips. Nesta winced as she mumbled what an idiot to herself.
âIâm not glass. I wonât break, trust me. Many have tried in the past, none have succeeded.â Emerie spoke up, looking back at Nesta.
âAnd youâre not either, you know.â
Nesta couldnât stop the anger that drove out of her mouth. âHow would you know? You donât even know an eighth of my life; what my purpose here is.â
Emerie shrugged, resting her hands on her hips. âBecause youâre here. No matter if itâs probation or not. You still could have ran, yet you came.. That counts.â
âHow do you know I wonât run now?â
âI donât, Nesta. All I can do is hope that I see you at the next meeting.â
âAnd thatâs enough?â
When Emerie didnât respond, Nestaâs guilt carved into her. She approached the woman as the sound of truck tires rolled to a stop nearby.
âEmerie, IâmâŚâ Nesta sighed, the guilt anchoring her to the spot.
But Emerie waved her off. âHonestly I donât have a good answer for you. At least not yet.â She pointed to Azrielâs truck. âYour ride is a Valyrian?â
Nesta raised an eyebrow. âYou know Azriel?â
Emerie shook her hand in a so-so gesture. âKinda. Everyone here knows pretty much everyone with it being a small town and all. I went to school with them for a brief time.â Her tone dipped, suddenly with sadness.
Before Nesta could ponder, Emerie continued. âI also live down the road from the House of Wind. I run the general store down the way. If you make a right out of the ranch and keep going down, youâll find my place eventually.â
âWhat do you sell?â Nesta asked.
âAll kinds of stuff. And before you ask, itâs a dry store. Iâm not going to screw over my process by selling what Iâve been addicted to.â
The horn of Azrielâs truck blared as Nesta went to speak. She rolled her eyes before glaring at Azriel. He sat there unbothered, his hand hovering over the horn. Emerie chuckled. âTheyâve never been the best at patience from what I remember.â
âYou can say that again.â Nesta mumbled.
The Windhaven native placed a hand on Nestaâs shoulder. âIâll see you around, Archeron!â
She spun in the other direction heading to the parking lot. For some reason as Nesta walked over to the truck and got inside, she felt different.Â
The truck started to move, leaving the lot. She looked out the window in the sea of darkness as they made their way out to the road. The radio was playing so low that Nesta could barely make out what was being sung. Deep inside there was an urge to blast the music, to see what he listens to, see if she could change it at all. But Nesta looked away from the radio, not wanting to try it.
Her gaze traveled to Azriel as he drove.
âAre you not going to bomb me with questions?â Nesta asked, raising an eyebrow.
Azriel was silent for a moment, then he shrugged. âYou stayed, you made a friend. Your business is your business.â
Nesta blinked, having to adjust that Azriel was choosing not to ask her everything and anything.Â
At her previous experiences, her sisters, other patients, random therapists would try to dig deep into her to ask anything like it was a Q&A session. How was it? When are you going next? How can I help? Itâs a long road ahead, but youâll get there. Nesta shook her head, reliving for a moment what Elain had mentioned to her when she was in her last rehab. She would not think about her right now. Nesta took a breath, her gaze going back to the window.
Eventually that same feeling she felt earlier, when she was with Emerie, returned. She glanced down at her hands, unknowing what to do next. Because the feeling of lightness was so rare in her life now, she grasped it, never wanting to let go.

My PCs on various saves~
Rambles below
Alice and Ellis are just alternate versions of the same person. But i'm thinking of making them twins or something.
Alice feels like she's an empty person. She acts the way she thinks others would want her to act, saying and doing things to get the best advantage out of the situation. All is about money in the end. She doesn't even spend it on anything for herself other than clothes, just to pay debt and fund construction eveywhere.
She has no hobbies, no dreams but to survive, no real life goals and is as dependant to robin as he is to her, although she's pretty sure she loves him the most, she sometimes silently resents him for the double payment, because she thinks he's not trying hard enough when she's out risking her life for him everyday. Also the way he more often than not won't stood up for her in dire situations like with bailey or whitney. I like my fluffy ship a bit bittersweet..
She does like being near sydney but is ashamed of her own behaviors she thinks are unholy, so she kept a distance from him. She fights whitney on sight. About kylar.. she is weak to pathetic people so she protects him from bullies every time yet.. he's kinda making it hard for her to defend his more freaky stuff, she knows of his stalking and arrow shooting but is somewhat happy for the protection and free money (?) She wanted to be protected once in a while because all these years she is the one doing the protecting, she's probably about to snap one day
She gets hurt a lot physically and mentally, so she frequently gets sent to the hospital. She hated going there, but she never learned to fix her bad habbits. Harper is fascinated and thinks of her like an adorable guinea pig, that likes to hiss and bite, or something.
She miserably yearns to be held normally by a parental figure. Her relationship with bailey, avery and morgan is the farthest thing from that, though. Still, she strangely upped her efforts sometimes solely for their validation.
Hawk thinks she's her wife and she just goes along with it. She visits her once a month. While Alice knew the hawk is not malicious, the situation is just too weird for her to process.
She never encountered the wolf or eden, for now. She gets the f out at the slightest bad feeling in the forest, this way she also almost never really confronted the wraith. (Habits of staying up all night) (they still hunt her though because of the necklace)
At first i gave her red eyes because rabbit but perhaps it has something to do with the wraith.
Recently i've started the farm quest so maybe i will add more lore.
I'm thinking she'd have a few outcomes at the end, happy end with robin where they killed bailey and escaped the town somehow, living normally somewhere not here. Happy? End with hawk where she never left the castle forever. Happy??? end with her settling in the assylum as harper's nurse. Bad? End with her just spirited away by the wraith and was never seen again, etc.
About my PC2, Odette, she is a bit older than Alice, she acts like her big sister figure. But one day she's just, gone, sold to the farm. Her hair turned white because of stress, She escaped at one point but never returned to the orphanage. Alice and everyone else thinks she's dead. She just lives at the home of a certain huntress... they're pretty happy together, maybe.

Your jobs seem stressful, what do you guys do to de-stress?
ThunderhawkÂ
Our jobs can be really stressful especially since we are constantly on duty to keep Angel Island safe, however we do get some free time to rest and unwind. Everyone needs to rest and refresh to be on their A game including us Guardians.Â
For me, I destress by spending quality time with the family when I can. As expected of people that constantly work and live together we tend to spend most of our free time independently, which is all fine and good.. but we are a family after all, and getting to share some genuine time together, watch a movie, maybe play a board game or two, sharing a big meal, just gives me a nice warm feeling and reminds us of the simple moments in life together. Slowing down and enjoying the little things.Â
Sometimes when work gets really overwhelming I stop for a moment, I focus on my breath and pay subtle attention at whats around me, how things look, sound, feel, maybe taste, I notice my feelings in the moment and remind myself of those little happy moments in life. Itâs helped me destress over the years and has even come in handy when my anxiety would try to get the best of me. -smiles-Â
Sojourner
What do I do to de-stress? Besides beautiful women -smirks then clears throat-, I enjoy the occasional cigar as opposed to my usual cigarettes, I donât drink too often but Iâll even enjoy a glass of whiskey on the rocks with my smoke. Just find a good spot to sit outside and enjoy the view and maybe some tunes, although the sounds of the Islandâs wilderness is the perfect music to my ears.Â
At times the best way for me to de-stress is to go out hiking and especially camping. Sometimes Iâll take my son or another one of the boys along for the trip but other times Iâll go by myself, just exploring and experiencing Angel Islandâs raw beauty brings me a lot of peace and provides the space for personal reflection too. Canât beat a walk in nature Iâll tell you that!
Sabre
To say that this job is stressful would be an understatement in my opinion⌠Iâve tried a few things to destress but I really enjoy some quiet time along with a nice cup of tea, perhaps even a book or a good album to listen too. Iâve also found working on my garden to be quite therapeutic for me in a way. Gives me something to focus on besides work, and as much as it reminds me to take care of my plants it reminds me to take care of myself too. Originally my wife started this garden so Iâd say it also holds some fond memories to reminisce about.
Locke
De-stress? Hmm.. Iâd probably say meditation is my biggest guide when I feel burdened. House Guest lore? Oh yes, House Guest lore <3
For context House Guest is the ship name for my Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees self ship! It's a fairly new self ship so this will be updated as keep up with the new content IDW has been releasing for it!
Ship name is based on Nothing Painted Blue's House Guest which is often covered by The Mountain Goats. You should listen to this song.
Also you should read BTTWNS. Thanks.
Basing around this interview, the timeline of these events take place a year after the murders in Woodbrook have been resolved. Sam now runs the hardware store alone and babysits Charlie's kids every now and then. For the longest time Lola and Charlie were what she considered as friends in the lifetime she's spent in town. But with both of them gone, there's an air of sudden loneliness in her life. She does like the peace but then that just makes her impulses louder. More slip ups. This lingering feeling of fear or anger still brews inside her- how can it go away? Thankfully the residents are understanding of her condition. They did after all frame her for killing their neighbors for a time.
It's fair she'd be mad at them somehow. She doesn't show the grudge but the lack of any real relationship with people dented her and so she makes more trips to the city to hunt.
On a particular field trip, she stumbles upon her old camp. The earth broken with messy bald sinks. Grass had started growing over the sunken ground. She scoffs, this obviously was a job done by Nigel. She cleans back up the land and patches up the uneven soil. As she does she contemplates why he did it. Love? Obsession? Admiration?
How odd that a guy she's seen since he was a teenager decided to make advances on her.
Maybe it's norm. Nigel is 27. He's got a life to live and around that time people start to think about marriage or moving in or starting families. Maybe he could have gotten a crazy girlfriend back at his university. Maybe if he was not so dedicated he'd have a wife and a child today. He used to be a nice kid. He could have done something better than to disrupt the natural order of things.
Sam is 45. She's lived her entire life alone but not without experience. That's unnatural. In her travels she has had flings with girls and only had a serious relationship with 2 when she had to prolong her stay in some towns. Nobody in Woodbrook mind that she was childless or not romantically involved. But there were occasional condolances or pity parties thrown for her by old ladies. Why didn't she? Well it's probably because she's never really found the need to. And second, she's been only interested in women.
But it's not like there was a demand for her to be in a relationship anytime. These little women and men were her playthings. They couldn't possibly tell her how to settle down. But maybe to ease the tension and break the ice after a year of grieving and moving on. Sam thinks about dating for the purpose that she'll appear better off. Happier. Maybe with the added novelty that she's a lesbian.
It's a lot more positive association, isn't it? Sam had gotten tired of the apologies that punctuated every sentence directed at her. Why yes, tell me about my wife. Tell me about how nice it must be.
But like the wild animals people migrate in and out of Woodbrook. The women she found interest in either had married or went to the city. But people sometimes come in as a tourist or as a permanent resident. One of those people is Julianne, an illustrator who moved across the country to live in a more rural area.
Julianne is a stressed artist who dreams of living slowly and romantically. She chose Woodbrook because of how local and tight knit it was and because not much people are willing to come and invest in it yet after the horrors of 1986.
She bought an apartment suite to live in with big ambitions or visions of how she wants it to look like. One morning she came to the Burly Brown Bear with a binder full of sketches and magazine clippings. It's a grounded concept, she said as Sam flipped through the pages of the bestrewed book. It's as grounded as a maximalist can get. Mostly wood. Warm tones. Unique carvings and custom European windows.
Oh but we don't need to do that part, she laughs.
It's an eye opening pitch, but Sam decides to help her anyway excited to do another full scale project after a while.
This is perfect. They work on the project together growing to be close friends. Then the relationship breaches past a project partnership and they find themselves in parks, taking strolls around the forest that covers the town, drinking cider in Sam's truck or sleeping on the floor of the half finished apartment.
The town pick up on how close the two are becoming. And it's welcomed and encouraged, warming Julianne into the community from merely just being city folk and supporting Sam's bold open secret.
Her prop is useful. So useful. Too useful. That she forgets this is to save face. She feels the same primal satisfaction she feels when she kills with Julianne. A warm soothing hand that muffles the mouth of her soul.
Well. Sometimes Julianne still visits the city. She needs to go to work when it physically demands her. Or she just goes because she oddly enough feels comfort being blended in a crowd of faces. She goes there to ponder. And this overlap in schedule happens with Sam's "business trips". Sam panics realizing they're headed out too but. I mean she's probably on another side of the city. She won't see at all.
So she goes and she asks a deer for help bringing in her groceries. She chokes the doe and begins her usual routine. Ties. Hangs. Nails. Grinder. It's all there.
Nearby is a cat with a canvas bag eating lunch alone. She brought herself a strawberry sandwich and bought a cranberry slice to gift to her girlfriend later. She looks for a nice isolated spot near a river, but across the river is a silhouette of someone familiar. Is it? What a coincidence! Come eat lunch with me, silly.
A ritual is performed across the water. It's quiet and precise. Curiosity gets the better of Julianne and she crosses that stream, locking eyes with a bear slicing an incision on a deer's artery.
There's a silence that deafens.

[10:03]
"We got another case."
You looked to the older man bringing a file that contains some pictures and reports taken from the crime scene.
"Another one? Urgh, we don't even get to finish the latest two cases."
Jisung, the new kid groaning and knocked his head on the desk. Five months ago when he got transfered here, you can see his bright spirit but now it started to fade. You understood him. Three murder cases in a week. Your team has tried really hard finding solution but failed.
You took the case and analysed every pictures taken by the forensic team. It was an old man. Probably in his late 50s. His skull was broken and you can tell the damage was really bad when the brain looked like minced meat and few cuts on his body. The victim also lost their eyes. Looks like the eyes got pulled out by some force. Jisung beside you gagged after saw the pictures. You patted his back and told him to drink some water and eat.
"Whoever did this, they are literally a psycho. They also took off the victim's clothes and hang it like a flag. Crazy bastard."
Your leader complained. He looked like he wanted to give up on the case. The murder cases keep increasing and the killer is still in the town. Not only that, the residents also critized polices, accusing them for not doing the job properly.
"You should get rest too, Y/n. You and Jisung didn't get enough rest nowadays. That poor boy probably went to sleep already."
"I will, Mr. Kim. Please take a rest too. Your wife must be worried."
You bid him and Jisung goodbye. Everyone is stress from the work. You bought some pastries and coffee before come back to home.
"You are back, honey? Take a shower and have breakfast with me?"
It's your husband, Jay. He took a glance at you then focusing back on his cooking. You are very grateful having him. He really loves you. The way he takes care of you is different with other people in the world. You did as what he said. Take your time in the bathroom for 20 minutes and went to the dining table with him sitting across from you.
"Is the work difficult?" He concernedly asked when he saw how tired you look. You nodded your head slowly and started to eat the meal.
"Mrs.Min told me her husband hasn't come back home for a week. But then, the new case that came in today is about her husband. The team found the body in the woods."
You looked at him warily. Waiting for his reaction. He did nothing except chewing on his food. When he finally swallowed it, he turned to you.
"The eyes are gone right? And the brain was smashed."
"I...I didn't say about his condition."
He laughed. Your instict is right.
"Oops! You caught me."
He continued back eating his food like nothing happen. Your hands shaking a bit because of nervous.
"You did it again...."
"I had too, darling."
"What is the reason for this time?"
You had thought he finally stopped doing it. But when you see the cuts on the victim's body. You quickly remember the same pattern Jay did to someone else. Yes, your husband is the killer for the new case you got this morning.
"Oh, darling. It's too much. He is too much. The way his eyes lingering on you too long, the way he sometimes make his finger accidentally touches yours when you give something for his family, the way he sometimes tried to touch your body. I could list more but that just few of it. I really wish I can do more to his body. I made him watch his own dick got stepped by me. Sick old fuck."
It's scary. Jay is scary.
But, do you hate it?
No. Never. You love him despite all the bad things he had done.
"Thank you."
"I did everything for you, my love. I hate when people overstep their boundaries."
"I know. Thank you for protecting me."
And that's why the case will turn to a cold one. It will remain unsolve forever.

Second Chance: Arrow 1x18 Review (Salvation)
The villain of the week is one step ahead of Felicity in "Salvation" which gives Oliver the opportunity to be there for HER, as they race to save Roy Harper's life.
And oh holy cow is there Lance family drama y'all. WOW. Scandalous.
Let's dig in...
Olicity
This is one of Arrowâs more suspenseful episodes. Felicity goes toe to toe with the villain of the week and she more than meets her match. This results in one of Arrow's cooler action sequences and some iconic Olictiy moments.
But first, we must work out.
Of all the times Felicity watches Oliver working out, this is my favorite. Emily Bett Richardâs face is hilarious.
Her comic skills are so on point and she brings a much needed levity to the show. But do not deny this woman her dramatic work. She can bring her A game anytime - as we will soon see.
Oliver is off to threaten (or kill?) a dirty real estate developer named John Nichols, who doesnât mind skipping code requirements if it means saving a buck. Oliver fed up with this guy killing people in the Glades and heâs on the List, so hasta la vista, baby. (Do not deny my my nineties clichĂŠ remarks. They bring me comfort and joy.)
Unfortunately (or fortunately?) someone else beats Oliver to it and kidnaps Nichols. Oliver is strangely displeased. I mean... what's the difference? Felicity and I share a brain sometimes, so she asks Oliver on my behalf.
Source: @andjustforthismoment
These two are in their own rom com and weâre just along for the ride. The way he growls âThey donât show my level of restraint,â at Felicity is a lot. Is it really necessary to stand that close to her Oliver? No itâs not. I SEE YOU SIR.
The man who kidnapped Nichols executes him on live television which was super creepy. He definitely has a Heath Ledger as the Joker vibe to him. (Nobody said the comparisons to the Dark Knight are unfair.)
Felicity is unable to crack his encryption code because hes a former cyber crusader called âThe Saviorâ and the NSA has been searching for him for years. His real name is Joseph Falk and he erased his existence after his wife was murdered in the Glades.
When he failed to get justice for his wife's death, the Savior took matters into his own hands - not unlike our favorite vigilante. His cyber skills are no joke and give Felicity a real run for her money. She is unable to track him down before he kills Nichols, which leads to a hilarious if frustrated exchange between Felicity and Oliver.

JUST GET MARRIED.
Things go from bad to worse for Felicity when Falk kidnaps the district attorney. His crime was not prosecuting the person who murdered Falkâs wife. If we were on the fence as to whether Nichols should live or die, then the district attorney snaps us out of the moral grey zone. Prosecutors choose not try cases all of the time for lack of evidence. It doesnât mean they should die for it.
Source: Â msr-olicity-love
Oliver's impatience only heightens Felicity's stress, but she finally gets a location. Itâs the middle of the day which means Oliver canât hood up. So he grabs the motorcycle and his super sexy brown jacket to hunt Falk down and save the DA.
This leads to one of my favorite Arrow action scenes. Falk is not at the location Felicity sends Oliver to, which means he has to sprint across town and leap between buildings to next location. Felicity is completely flummoxed because she doesn't understand how this guy is moving locations. Oliver screaming at her over comms is not particularly helpful either.Â
Unfortunately, Team Arrow loses and Falk murders the DA on live television, which is completely traumatizing to Felicity who has never seen anyone die before.Â
Oliver returns home to find Felicity alone in the dark, twirling one of his arrows in her hands. Oliver immediately wants to know where Diggle is because heâs probably wondering why John left Felicity all alone in the dark.
Felicity: I asked him to leave me alone in my loud voice.
Source: @westallenolicitygifs
Oliver isnât going to do the same. He immediately reassures Felicity that it wasnât her fault (because it isnât). This is the price of the life theyâve chosen to live. Itâs a very lonely one as Oliver knows all too well.
Source: @jamiedornaniseverything
Felicity is understandably feeling defeatist, so itâs one of the rare times she says itâs better to be alone. Oliver doesnât have much to say in return, but notice how the scene is shot. The entire bunker is dark except for the brightly backlit desk lamp. Oliver and Felicity are the only thing we see in the darkness.
Felicity also mentions her relationship status, which feels like an oddly placed comment. Umm⌠ok? SHEâS SINGLE AND HETEROSEXUAL GUYS!
I love receiving pieces to the Felicity Smoak puzzle, but this comment felt very out of context. âHey Iâm sad, but I wouldnât know how to talk to my boyfriend about fighting crime. Good thing I donât have one.â
It is NOT the fans who create romantic undertones to Oliver and Felicityâs scenes. The writers make it romantic with conversations like this. Itâs very easy to keep a scene like this strictly platonic, but nope! The writers decide itâs super important that Oliver knows *right now* that Felicity is single as she pours her heart out to him in her time of need.
The light is equally important, because this relationship (regardless of romantic or platonic) has to be a two way street. Felicity cannot always help Oliver find the light. He has to help her too.
Oliver does come through Felicity by the end of the episode. Not at first because he is equally struggling with the loneliness of the life heâs chosen. He canât really advise Felicity against being alone because thatâs the choice heâs made for himself. So much so, that Diggle takes him out for a burger and a little therapy session. After the disaster zone his past relationships have left in their wake, Oliver is tapping out. He doesnât require a life, or entanglements, or feelings.
Diggle: Youâve been home for eight months Oliver, I donât think youâve left that island yet.
Diggle, per usual, disagrees. He wants Oliver entangled. He wants Oliver as entangled as he can get. It makes you wonder if he has someone specific in mind.
The Savior puts a big mirror up to Oliverâs face. He is man grieving the loss of his wife and chose to channel that rage and sadness into exacting his brand of justice. Oliver can see himself in Falk and he doesnât like what he sees.
Being alone leads to exactly that. While Oliver may say he doesnât want the complexity of relationships and the difficulties they can bring, the reality of living life alone can lead to some pretty terrible results. Falk cut himself off from his humanity. This lead to selecting victims who didnât deserve to die. If Oliver wants to maintain a moral high ground, make difficult but ultimately right choices, then he needs his humanity fully intact. Humanity requires human contact.
Oliver reaches out to someone first, but itâs not Felicity. Itâs L*urel. He wants to have dinner or coffee or whatever because he no longer wants to be on an island. Itâs a nice line. It would have more meaning if we saw that dinner or conversation, but we don't.
Instead we see Oliver return home to the bunker, to Felicity and Diggle, and they debrief their latest Team Arrow victory. It would be easy to leave this scene at Felicityâs funny remark about Roy and Thea.
Diggle: You ok?
Oliver: Getting there.
Instead, Oliver acknowledges, more to himself, that heâs feeling better because John was right. Then we actually see this rigid man move and in the cutest way possible - with a little "Psst." It is a small yet definitive step towards his second chance.
Oliver approaches Felicity in the now brightly lit bunker and tells her she is not alone. He is there for her always. Felicity may not have a âboyfriendâ to talk to, but she has Oliver.
Then he gently touches her shoulder and lets his hand linger there just long enough to even make Felicity wonder if maybe, just maybe, he means more.
Actions speak louder than words. Â Oliver may talk about not being on an island anymore with L*urel, but he leaves that island for Felicity.
Roy Harper
What are we doing with Roy Harper? Thus far itâs been a lot of Roy and Thea having the same âmake better choicesâ argument and debate their wildly different economic lots in life. This is all well and good but we eventually need movement on this character and âUnfinished Businessâ give it to us BIG TIME.
Thea is understandably frustrated when Roy admits he plans to hold up a liquor store because he âowesâ people in the Glades and thatâs how this town works.
Thea: I got you a job at my brotherâs club. You have choices. You donât have to be a criminal.
Somehow this decision puts Roy in the Saviorâs cross hairs. According to Falk, Roy Harper is a gang banger.
Roy has a criminal record and holding up a liquor store with an empty gun is not great, but a freaking death sentence? Calm down crazy. The Savior canât find bigger fish to fry?
Roy doesnât make excuses or ask for forgiveness when Falk challenges him to defend himself against his âcrimes.â He doesnât care if he lives or dies (just like someone else we know).
Roy: No oneâs gonna miss me. Iâm just a waste.
Gut punch. This kid wrecks me. Now Thea is crying in Tommyâs big brotherly-like arms. WE MUST SAVE THE PARKOUR PRINCE!!!
Felicity and Diggle determine Falk is on the old abandoned subway system in Star City, which is why he was moving locations. The Hood finds Roy before Falk can pull the trigger and they engage in a morality debate, which thankfully isnât broadcasted across the whole city after the feed is cut off. Or maybe the city should have heard Oliverâs arguments.
Oliver: I understand being alone, but it doesnât give you the right to kill people in cold blood.
The Savior challenges Oliver on the difference between them and, once again, he doesnât have a lot to say. There's minimal morality wiggle room for Oliver. The only difference between the Savior and the Hood is the people they are choosing. Oliver wasnât wrong at the beginning of the episode. He has more restraint. He also has a better list of names. The Savior should ask for a couple.
Killing the District Attorney and kidnapping Roy Harper show that Falk is very bad at being judge, jury and executioner. Arrow is putting other vigilantes up against Oliver to show that he is better. There is a good heart under that hood â a potential superheroâs heart. Oliverâs morals and how he measures the sins of others are more just, but that doesnât make him right. These distinctions we are drawing between Oliver and people like Falk and Helena are merely shades of grey. He is balancing on a very razor thin edge.
Oliver begs Falk to give Roy a second chance, but is forced to put an arrow in him when he refuses. âSalvationâ is asking an important question. Who is worthy of a second chance? And who decides who is worthy?
Killing not only ends someoneâs life it removes the possibility for change. There is a clear distinction between a man like Nichols and Roy Harper. There should be consequences to sinful actions, but what sins warrant death and what sins warrant forgiveness? Who decides? Itâs a question we grapple with constantly in our imperfect legal system and itâs one Oliver Queen must answer as the cityâs self appointed protector.
Roy is an easy call to make. He made mistakes, but he is deserving of a second chance. However, the question of whether he is worthy of it can only be answered by Roy Harper. Â As he pulls the small arrow that saved his life out from his pocket, Roy is illuminated by a bright red light â a not so subtle nod to the Red Arrow.Â
And thus a heroâs journey begins with a second chance.
The Lance Family
This week on Loving the Lances⌠Dinah returns home with hopes of resurrecting their dead daughter but family secrets were unearthed instead. Dun dun dunnnnn!!!!
L*urel is on her own show, so I thought Iâd give it a proper soap opera name. She never intersects with Oliverâs storyline except when she randomly pops up at the club looking for Tommy, but I digress. In all seriousness, this episode is pretty damn good because some scalding hot tea was spilled!
Dinah is CONVINCED that Sara is alive because she had the exact same baseball cap as the woman in the photo. This is such a weird detail to hang all her hopes on. Does Dinah think Sara was holding the rockets hat in her hand while she was swept out to sea? Whatâs with the hat? I HAVE QUESTIONS.
Long story short, Sara is truly dead. L*urel finds the woman in the photo. Sheâs American, spent some time in China and owns a Starling City Rocketâs hat. Weâre going to pretend the Chinese Embassy can find some rando in a photo and deliver her name to L*urel in five seconds flat. Also, Oliver confirms once again Sara is dead and he never lies so weâre all good.
But now we can get to the really interesting part of this little Lance drama unfolding before us. L*urel has the same questions about the hat as I do! I am wildly uncomfortable being this much in agreement with her, but here we are.
Dinah came home while Sara was packing for her little get away with Oliver. She watched Sara pack the hat. Dinah told her not to go, but Sara said she was in love and following her heart even though others may not think it is right. Just like Dinah did with Quentin (side note â whatâs the story on those two?)
Dinah: So I let her go. I killed my daughter.
HOLY FRIGGIN CRAP! MOMMY KNEW ABOUT THE CHEATING AND NOT ONLY DID SHE NOT SAYING ANYTHING TO L*UREL SHE LET SARA GO ON THE DAMN BOAT!!
This family is so jacked up. They make the Queens look halfway normal. Yâall I donât even know what to do with this information. HOT. MESS. EXPRESS.
Clearly Dinah is riddled with guilt and is desperate to find Sara alive to erase the terrible decision she made, but she canât erase it. Just like Oliver canât.
Somehow this betrayal almost feels worse than what Oliver and Sara did. Alright, maybe thatâs too harsh, but it feels just as bad. It feels like Dinah was taking sides and she chose Sara.Â
I really need a therapy session with these women to unpack all that, but this is Arrow and L*urel doesnât get that much screen time. The best weâll get is an awkward hug and L*urel asking her mother to call her sometime.
What L*urel is offering is a generous second chance. Perhaps sheâs realized that forgiveness is less painful than holding onto all the anger and hurt. Perhaps Oliver coming home and her motherâs time away made her realize she wants Dinah in her life than not at all. Itâs really only a decision L*urel can make, but itâs a chance Dinah needs to jump on. She didnât stop being a mother when Sara died. L*urel needs her too.
Stray Thoughts
L*urel advises Thea to run from the bad boys. Snort. So itâs a âdo what I say, not what I doâ type of advice day.
Moira serves Frank up on a platter to Malcolm Merlyn as the person who hired Deadshot. Moiraâs hands are getting pretty damn bloody.
It has to be hard on L*urel to see that the only time her parents can be in a room together, affectionately touching, and being on the same team, is when they are searching for Sara. I really felt bad for her this episode. Ugh.
Slade and Oliver ransom the chips for a boat. It goes disastrously. Now Yao Fei is captured again.
Hey! Shado speaks English and can kick ass. Neat!
âKeeps my ears warm.â He jokes!
âIâll be home in a flash.â Dinah lives in Central City. Season 1 Jen didnât get that reference, but I am a seasoned professional in the art of comic book references and I totally picked up on it the second time.
âStayâ by Rihanna was playing during Oliver & L*urelâs scene at the end of the episode. This was my song of pain in 2013. The Vampire Diaries used it in a particularly agonizing Stefan and Elena scene as well that year. Â It's like white hot pokers in my heart.

Las Vegas just got a little more country with Blake Sheltonâs new live music spot Ole Red Bar.
âExtraâsâ Alecia Davis spoke with Blake about the grand opening and having his wife Gwen Stefani with him up onstage!
Referencing Gwenâs Coachella performance with No Doubt, Blake commented, âI was excited she did it because she's had a hell of a week.â
The Coachella performance was the first time that Gwen and No Doubt reunited in nine years!
When asked what Stefaniâs support meant to him, Shelton gushed, âItâs everything. I mean, that's my wife. And she's never not been there to support me. It's just such a comforting thing to know she has my back. She's my best friend, and it's not something we just say. It's in our actions. We are as supportive of each other as we can be.â
Blake and Gwen are loving the farm life on their Oklahoma ranch.
Blake commented, âI love being on the tractor. It's like my getaway. That is my vacation or hobby. Iâm no good at it, letâs be honest. Itâs a disaster. I got a guy that works for me on the ranch that after I leave town, heâll come in behind me and like fix it and get it right, like how it should be. But nobody has more fun doing it than I do.â
Blake even got Gwen to join him.
How does a city girl like Gwen becomes a country girl?
Blake answered, âWell, flowers. Itâs hard to get her excited about a stock of corn growing, but if you can get her some zinnias going, now she's fired up. Now she wants to be a farmer.â
For Christmas, Blake gifted zinnia seeds to Gwen. He shared, âI got that. I got her sunflower seeds. You name it, if it can grow in Oklahoma, I probably got it for her.â
To cover his bases, Shelton also got jewelry for Stefani. He quipped, âIâm not sure which is more expensive either. I donât know if youâve tried some of that flower stuff... holy sh*t.â
Shelton was stoked to launch his sixth and largest Ole Red Bar right on the Strip.
He said, âItâs not something I think most artists think are in the cards, to be part of something like this outside of making music records and touring. To be able to have a venue that also represents you musically and what you do. And so, I got super lucky this all worked out.â
Blake is also fired up to hit the road again and thrill fans with all his hits on his Honky Tonk tour.
While Blake has missed touring life, he admitted, âI was a little bit nervous. Iâm always nervous at the start of my tours. I donât know why after this many years. Itâs simple things I worry about like the lyrics to my song or are people gonna come to the shows? Literally, those are the two things that I stress about.â
As for the possibility of returning to âThe Voice,â Blake revealed, âI donât plan on ever, like working at âThe Voiceâ again. I canât say I wouldnât come by for, like, a surprise appearance. I mean, that show is the greatest and most important thing that Iâve ever been a part of in my career. It changed my life, and Iâll always be grateful for that.â
Though heâs not sitting in the famous red chairs anymore, Shelton is still watching the show!
He commented, âI do watch it a little bit, especially when Gwenâs on there. Sheâs still in and out, and sheâs so good at it. She loves the show. She always said to me, âHow can you want to step away? Itâs so fun.â Iâve done it 23 seasons without missing a single season. I know what you feel like, Pat Sajak, because thatâs kinda how I felt being on âThe Voice.â If youâre on back-to-back seasons, thereâs really no time for any other thing. I guess if you didnât want to have a family and a life, you could do it that much, but something has to give, and for me, I was to the point where it was time for âThe Voiceâ to be the thing that has to give this time. So, Iâm just at that stage in my life.â

whats your fav album/albums??
Like anyone else who was sentient and within earshot of a radio in 2012, I was aware of Call Me Maybe. It was inescapable, virulently catchy, an icepick of bubblegum straight to the tympaneum. As mocked as it was beloved, as society is unable to tolerate anything feminine.
I don't strongly remember my feelings about it at the time. I was probably self-aware enough at that point to not explicitly shit on it -- that was right around when I was making my first tentative steps towards not identifying as a guy. But my musical taste at the time skewed more towards They Might Be Giants and Imogen Heap so it wouldn't have been anything I sought out.
Flash forward to the summer of 2015. I'm in a bar in Ames, Iowa with a bunch of other mathematicians, there for the Graduate Research Workshop in Combinatorics. After a hard day of bootstrap percolation and RNA folding and graph discharging, we descended on this little college bar's trivia night like a swarm of LaTeX-using locusts. Combinatorists tend to be eclectic sorts, so trivia comes naturally to us, and I'm no exception; our four mathematician teams took the top four spots that night, and my team was first among those. There are a few other stories that came out of that night, but the relevant one is that I heard a little song over the speakers called I Really Like You.
Like Call Me Maybe, IRLY was uncompromisingly girly. But I was at a stage in my life where that was a balm to my aching soul. I had been slowly growing in my femininity month by agonizing month, living in the freezing wastes of Laramie, Wyoming. I wore skirts around the house, went by ze/hir pronouns online, but nobody in person knew. Every Friday afternoon my wife would paint my nails, and every Sunday evening I'd scrub the authenticity out of myself with acetone and a cotton ball. So the femininity of the song was appealing to me.
So, too, was the lyrical content. It was self-awarely about a liminal state in relationships, that hazy limerence where actual commitment isn't in the cards, but the feelings are strong, so why don't we ride them while we can? It's not that it hasn't been done before, but Carly Rae did it well. I added the song to the mp3 app on my phone and didn't think much more of it.
Cut to the summer of 2016. Brexit had just happened, I had just found out my dad was planning to vote for Trump. The sun over the Rockies was bright, but the world was feeling small and hostile. We were spending the week with my parents and some family in a mountain town in Colorado. Emma and I aren't the hiking sort, so when the rest of the folks went out in the wilderness, we decided to explore some of the little towns in the area. In one of those towns was a record store, and in that record store was a CD copy of E-MO-TION.
I recognized it as the album that had that song I liked from last summer. We listened to it in the car on the way back up to Laramie, and I liked it a lot. Now, we usually listened to music on the old iPod that was connected to our aux cable, rather than the CD drive. So that CD just kinda stayed there in the car.
November rolled around. Trump won the election. My dysphoria and my fear and my seasonal depression blended into a eutectic misery, greater than the sum of its parts, a suffocating miasma of soul-deep pain, that I had to keep off my face for the sake of my students.
I started listening to that CD in the car more and more. I memorized the track numbers, I knew exactly what stretches of songs were best for which emotions. That album became a lifeline for me. When I was driving an icy road in the dark on three hours of sleep, stressing about my lack of progress on my dissertation, and the intrusive thoughts came in that maybe, it wouldn't be so bad if the car spun out on the black ice?
I'd put on Making the Most of the Night. Carly Rae knew I was having a rough time, and here she was to hijack me, hijack me.
