you found yourself scrolling immensely through all sorts of social media. trying to cure the boredom that grew throughout your body. you rolled over onto your stomach in defeat, placing your phone down and grabbing your unfinished book.

you figured if you got really into the book, time would pass, and itd be time for bed once you finished. you flipped over to the page you left on and began reading.

as time went by, you found yourself in a whole other position. back against the headboard of your bed and your legs crisscrossed. you had the book almost directly in front of your face. not daring to take your eyes off for even a second.

“what!?” you grumbled, as you turned the page you were met with credits. the book had left you on a cliffhanger. you shut your eyes in frustration while a smile tugged at the corner of your lips.

half an hour passed and you were now getting ready for bed you. you found yourself smiling to yourself as the only thing running through your mind was his comment.

they have all collectively liked a few of your videos on tiktok. but for it to be on instagram really shocked you to your core. matt wasn’t one to be active on any social platform. he had probably liked atleast 5 videos on your tiktok but that was it.

once you finished organizing your room and getting ready for bed, you went back onto instagram to post a quick story. the story contained a screenshot of his comment, and a text of yours being surprised:

Taemin used Guilty to talk about his own trauma in and out of the industry in regards to his debuting young, being around inappropriate elders of all genders who could not keep their hands off him, his sexual and gender identity (in regards to expressing that artistically) and took back his power while doing it. And the fact that it not only went over so many people's heads (fans and casual viewers alike) but then have Hybe equate that, frankly CLEAR, message with some kind of perversion??? To place him in the same league as the people who traumatized him in the industry is a whole new level of insidious.

Also I genuinely cannot take anything said by a K-pop company or even fans in regards to the whole schoolboy attire Taemin used in his video or the soft aesthetic he used in his promotions/album to get said message across when I have to suffer with seeing teen and adult idols perform songs in school uniforms. Sometimes to songs or choreo that are suggestive (especially with the teen idols). Like be so fucking for real.

I also can't take them seriously when they act like they care so much about the well-being of children while also debuting kids who they often put in suggestive clothing for sexy concepts when the idols are freshly 16 at most. Or when they got them in variety shows with MCs who should probably never be around children at all. Like I've seen episodes and clips of Weekly Idol and/interviews both past and presently of idols being asked shit that should get these people locked up on sight. Like, again, be so fucking for real please.

And, bringing it back to Taemin, I've seen way too many people grab, fondle, and caress that 14/15 y.o. kid and the only help for him was his members--who were also teenagers! I've seen grown ass men sit on his lap and flirt with him, grown ass women touch his chest, people put their arms around him in non-platonic/friendly manners; meanwhile he beared it all with a smile because what else was he supposed to do? Idols don't have bodily autonomy, don't you know? They belong to the companies and the public; and anything less than a placid smile won't do.

So, yeah, fuck Hybe in general but specifically for their audacity.

How does this work?

Now with a few boundaries out of the way!

The characters of Stuck in Ponyville are not aware of the traditional ways ask blogs work. They do not know of other pinkies , celestias , or whom ever. This is a story choice that will become relevant in the future.

Your characters will not play a huge roll but think of you and everyone reading as one working entity , all together you’re important! Your job is to guide the characters throughout this journey .

Polls

Asks can determine polls and pools can help you ask questions!

An example of how this has worked already is this!:

Someone asked about pinkies party cannons , suggesting they could be used as a weapon and then that later made a poll for locations to travel too. And that lead the first chapter to being about going across town to retrieve a canon to be brought back to the farm.

Though none of the characters will act out of character so keep that in mind for when choices are made.

A timid character might not survive a dark walk through a hallway full of monsters!

And a big brave pony with tude might not get the group help they so desperately need!

I swear the sort of idiots in the Chappell Roan post would also go after Freddie Mercury if he was still alive.

To be clear for everyone seeing this: Freddie Mercury was, by all accounts, a brilliant and generous human being, and you’d genuinely struggle to find a single thing he did that was meaningfully wrong. That said, yes, I do absolutely believe people today would manufacture outrage about him if he were still alive. Because outrage farming has become sport, and queer artists are often the juiciest targets.

Let me also be clear about something else: I think Chappell Roan has said things I didn’t love, particularly some of her comments about men. I don’t think they were thoughtful or productive. But here’s the thing: when I watch people spend all their energy picking apart queer artists for every minor misstep, and I never see those same people talk about the stuff non-queer, often cishet artists have said or done, I start to notice a pattern. And that pattern reeks of internalized queerphobia.

You want to talk about problematic behavior? Cool. But where’s that energy when we talk about Beyoncé’s extreme classism, the way she’s treated her staff, or her participation in deeply exploitative capitalist systems? Or Post Malone, who built his career on appropriating Black music and culture and just skates by without constant moral interrogations? Did you know Elvis groomed children? Anyone reading this like Aerosmith? Did you know Steven Tyler is a pedophile? And the child he took legal guardianship of so he could take her on tour and rape her never got justice because the judge said she 'waited too long' to do anything about it? Maroon 5's Adam Levine sent inappropriate messages to women while married, made jokes about it on twitter, and never faced a shred of scrutiny that I've seen on tumblr.

Why is it only the young queer woman with the bold makeup and messy way of talking about herself is who gets the academic dissection?

That’s the real issue for me. Not whether Roan is morally perfect, she isn’t. I don’t stan her. I don’t think she’s a queer messiah. I think she's kind of an asshole actually (but I also acknowledge that's probably part of her celebrity persona, no one knows a celebrity, no fan knows a celebrity, they are all playing parts)I like her music. Just like I like the music of a lot of artists, some of whom have done genuinely appalling shit. I’m not building a shrine here.

So, for the record: Chappell Roan is not my special little meowmeow darling. She’s just a queer artist I like whose art I connect with. The only reason I’m even talking about her like this is because I keep seeing people go feral trying to “prove” she’s secretly The Joker in glitter platform boots, while they have never once said a word about cishet artists doing worse on a larger stage.

And when that’s the pattern? I’m going to call it what it looks like: a reflexive, disproportionate disdain for other queer people, masked as moral critique.

The bi-colored hair male looked at the side of her face. Her eyebags had seemed to get larger. Just yesterday they seemed fine, but it almost looked like she had been crying which concerned the male. Especially since he knew her history, “Have you been taking your medications?”

She glanced at him again, rolling her eyes in the process with a smile, “Yes, dad. One last night and one this morning. My next one is tonight, like always.”

His worriedness washed away as he smiled, a tiny smile that he only held for her, “I’m just making sure. You always forget to take it.”

“Well, I took it this time, alright?” She said, looking away from him, “I’ll make sure to message you again tonight.” 

Next to her, Tenya let out a disappointed sigh as he readjusted his glasses. He shook his head as he watched the boys roughly mess around, "Almost two years and they still don't know how to behave. How absurd."

Shoto, who after finishing his conversation with F/n, scrolled through his phone, "I think they were just born like that."

Ochaco giggled as Katsuki grabbed a fistful of Denki's hair and shook him, "I don't know, it's kind of entertaining."

"And also reckless." Tenya motioned his hands up and down, "They're almost adults and yet they behave like children."

"Again," Shoto placed his phone down, "I think they were born like that. Or maybe dropped as a kid."

While Ochaco giggled at Shoto's comment, F/n smiled at him, "Look at you trying to be funny. New year, new you, huh?"

"It's also very rude." Tenya added.

Shoto smiled, ignoring the navy-haired male, "Was I being funny?"

"Guess new you still don't understand humor." Ochaco said as she let out a content sigh.

Three months into their second year of school and yet everyone is the same. That didn't bother the h/c haired girl. Though, she did wish some people like Katsuki would change their attitude. However, she does wonder if this year will be different.

She hoped for it to be a good difference.

"Oh, right." Ochaco perked up, "Have you guys heard?"

The three friends raised their brows, "Heard what?"

She smiled, "Apparently, we have a new boy coming to our class!"

"A new student?" Tenya thought for a second, "How come I wasn't informed? I'm the Class Rep."

"It was probably last minute." Shoto pointed out, "Momo would have said something if she knew as well."

F/n agreed, "Yeah, but why are we having a new student? Isn't our class full?"

"Oh, that's right, you haven't heard." Tenya lifted his arm, "Minoru Mineta got expelled last week for his inappropriate actions towards Momo. That's why he hasn't been around. It was time for him to leave anyway."

"Yep! And in return we get a hot, attractive guy to replace him!" Mina, with a big grin, interrupted them as she, Kyoka and Momo entered class.

"How do you even know if he's attractive? You haven't even met him." Kyoka pointed out as she headed for her seat, annoyed at Mina.

"Because I can just feel it!" Mina shouted and laughed as she followed after the purple-haired friend, "Plus, I think I just saw him in the hallway."

Momo shook her head and greeted everyone good morning. Ochaco moved away from her seat and talked to Mina as she squealed about the new kid being hands off. The boys only groaned in annoyance.

"Nobody cares about some damn extra!" Katsuki shouted at her, ensuing an argument.

Tenya continued to shake his head and attempted to deescalate the situation, but unfortunately the argument was turned on him. In their seats, F/n smiled as Shoto eyed his friend, "Aren't you curious who this new kid might be?"

F/n shrugged, "Not really. It's just a new kid. If anything he'll turn out like Denki or Katsuki."

"I would've thought you would be at least a little curious, especially if it's a boy." Shoto added as he looked away from her.

"Aw!" She poked his cheeks, "Are you jealous that I might replace you?"

He huffed lightly with tinted cheeks, "No."

She let go of his face and chuckled, "Don't worry, Shoto. I won't go anywhere. Nothing can ever separate us anyways!"

Right on time, the school bell rang and the classroom door opened and in stepped Mr. Aizawa with a meek kid following behind, "Everyone sit down, I have an announcement to make. This is your new classmate. Please make him feel welcome and what not. Introduce yourself."

"I-I'm Izuku M-Midoriya! Please take care of me!" He bowed down, feeling embarrassed with the sudden attention.

"Oh. He's kind of plain looking." Mina's face fell in disappointment.

Ochaco blushed a little, "He's kind of cute."

"What the hell!?" Katsuki yelled, frightening Izuku, "What are you doing here, Deku!?"

"Oh, good, you know someone." Mr. Aizawa boringly pointed behind F/n, "There's your seat."

Izuku nodded and quickly rushed towards his seat, avoiding Katsuki's death stare. However, as his eyes moved forward, they pinned themselves on F/n. It was only a quick second, but Izuku's breath hitched as she looked at him.

While the lesson continued and played as background, Izuku eyed her back. It had seemed like things were getting harder for him. He was just glad that he had found her once again.

Why can't it be different this time?

As always, there is a lot of work to do.

But for now, Izuku had to think of a way to approach her. Maybe this time, things can go smoothly if cards are played right.

For me that depends on what aspect of their appearance is being discussed. Like I don't see too much of a problem with saying Louis looks like his mum or Charlotte dressed like her at the Coronation. It can cross a line - I don't like people claiming such and such child looks like a royal and so therefore they must be similar in character, which happens a lot with the kids and Diana or the Queen - but I think a generic observation you'd make for people of all ages doesn't bother me too much. That's probably subjective so I can see why others might not like it though. But some things do make me uncomfortable, not just for royals but for all children. Over the years I've had lots of very friendly, pleasant anonymous messages saying that x royal is such a beautiful child or whatever and I always try to divert it and say something like "it was lovely to see them" or "I remember when they were a baby and now they're grown up" and just not acknowledge the comment about their physical appearance because it does feel weird. I felt uneasy about whether I should say Felix was handsome after Isabella's 18th because it felt inappropriate for someone my age - and he's 22 lol.

Yeah, I highly doubt an animated film of Hadestown will happen. While I do think the animation age ghetto (as TV tropes calls it) IS on it’s way out, I think it’s still prominent enough that I really don’t think mainstream Hollywood audiences are willing to accept a cartoon musical film that is a tragedy, even if they do cut out the more inappropriate content (Persephone’s love of wine, Orphydice having sex in All I’ve Ever Known, some of the swearing, etc.) for the younger audience members, and altering the ending to be happy wouldn’t do it justice at all. And the musical is fully sung at 2 hours and 30 minutes - and they would probably have to cut quite a few songs for those who can’t sit still for that long.

And I feel like that even if it is animated, the film STILL wouldn’t be able to capture the full message of the original show. So, I hope they’ll just leave at a pro-shot and just let the musical be like it is, unless they’re really willing to take risks with a cartoon version. Though fanmade animatics are still welcome.

I don’t think anyone would ever bet to put effort into making an animated musical adaptation. Period.

But also animation is not a “children media” even though unfortunately it’s treated as such (see people gladly watching the remakes of the animated movies because it’s the same thing but for grown ups) . I do hope that with Arcaine as well as with some other shows people would open their minds and understand that animation is just a media, just like a film so it doesn’t have to be child-adjacent. In the scenario where animation is just a media there is no need to cut off complicated topics out of Hadestown.

But obviously we will never see a version of Hadestown that will be better than a show. I doubt any film adaptation will get any closer (plus hadestown is sang-through which imo makes it harder to adapt unlike Wicked), I just can imagine better with animation cos I sometimes make/imagine animatics.

But yeah my hopes are for the proshot. Would be lovely to have it. Plus unlike a movie adaptation it’s less likely that it will bring more crazy people to the fandom by making the subject more popular. I truly have no time and wish to read/talk to people about “problematic hadestown” or whatever which usually happens once regular Twitter crowd gets their hands on smth

Hi, I really liked your Catradora anaylsis posts debunking a lot of the arguements the assholes on the internet have made about them. I'm just wondering about a topic relevant to it that I don't think you mentioned in your posts. Namely... the way the Horde barracks are run and Shadow Weaver's role in them basically that of a residential school. If you don't know what they were, they were basically schools run by the church or other groups that kidnapped indingeous children from their families and indoctrinated them into white society. It was fucking awful and horrible and they're still finding mass graves at the sites of these schools to this day. When I learned about these, I couldn't help but think thats what Shadow Weaver's goal was with all the Etherian children that were taken by the Horde, Catra and Adora included. To colonise and indocttinate them into the Horde's regime and order. Sure, I'm not entirely sure thats what the creators were intending to paralell with the Fright Zone (I think they were just thinking of like a regular messed up oprhanage)... but I think it's a point worth considering regarding the anti-colonial messaging in SPOP.

it’s worth mentioning that horde prime is very much a metaphor for religious cults, and the writers absolutely did that on purpose. it’s an official theme of the story by season five. also, since i like to mention my favorite analyst every chance i get, the light/dark motif of his ship ties into this as well. so, if nothing else, i think you’re on the right track, anon!
