has anyone gotten the idea that odysseus' storyline in hades 2 is a depiction/exploration of trauma over his SA and how he's blaming himself for things that were out of his control? because that's the impression i'm getting from what i've seen. he talks about "goddesses" as his "greatest weakness" and that "he's not one to say no to them"...

when mel invites him to the bath, he brings up mortals having different standards for intimacy than gods and how it usually has a more romantic/sexual connotation. she then asks if he's uncomfortable and he has a startled reaction and brings up circe and calypso again (but never actually by name)

(this isn't ship/romance bait btw. odysseus knew mel as a kid and they're stated in-game to have a sibling/uncle-niece relationship)

also he grew apart from penelope after his return, but the game makes a point of showing that his love for penelope and telemachus is what drove him on at all so that element of his character isn't brought into question

#i made a post abt it but deleted it bc it was speculating and i don't have the game bc i don't have a pc #but i found more screenshots and now.. i think it's a VERY real possibility they're going in this direction.#circe is in this game also. so i really need to see whether odysseus has any character specific dialogue about her #hard life when you can't even play the game and are hunting down bits of story from other people #hades game tag #hades 2 spoilers #sa mention #hades 2 #hades game #odysseus #penelope #i don't have any hard coping shipper brain on or anything but like. just. thinking about where his character can go given what we know #guaranteed penelope will be in this game too from how much she's brought up. we'll probably meet her on the surface #SO ITS LIKE. story wise. are we going to make a wife forgive her husband for cheating on her #or are we going to make a guy realize him being assaulted wasn't the same thing as him cheating on the love of his life #and i am heavily leaning towards the latter.#it's like if he genuinely did cheat on her and they grew apart what direction would his story go in.#how will us as the player help him in the same way we helped achilles/patroclus or orpheus/eurydice

#I WASNT EVEN MEANING TO SO I ACCIDENTALLY SKIPPED THE DIALOGUE BEFORE I KNEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING FUCK #ill go and find it later if only to give myself peace of mind. BUT WOW. WHAT THE FUCK #my original plan was to 1) work my way to the king and talk to him 2) doom myself and take everyone down with me 3) loop back to floor 3 #so i can visit the observatory and scrounge for any lore. although since i got killed that run siffrin asked the king to kill him first #which was intereresting. but i decided to have all doors unlocked that time around so i can just get the starcrest and go #but for some reason it wasnt working so i went to get the keyknife since i was already there and completely forgot i already had it #from the previous loop and THATS what triggered it. #i stg being that cute has got to be illegal somewhere #i didn't think it would be possible to make her look even better but here we are #interestingly enough #now that i've played some more actual game instead of just photo modeing my way through ikrie's quest #they didn't change all that much about her animations #quite possibly because they were already at the higher end of what the original game had to offer since TFW was already an improvement #and as much as it pains me to say this #in the end it's really just a minor side quest out in the middle of nowhere a lot of people will probably never play #(you should tho! absolutely worth it. go to keener's rock and enjoy)#so compared to what they did with the dialogue in the main game #this remains pretty much the same #however.#i think it might be due to the updated face models so animations translate a little differently #there seems to be a little more nuance to some expressions #...unfortunately somewhat at the cost of That iconic smirk #oh well. can't have everything #i LOVE how she looks now though this is pretty much what i had in my head the entire time #ikrie #horizon zero dawn #hzd remaster

i KNOW it's been talked about to death but. the haikaveh research project. it literally haunts my mind. i cannot get over the implications. alhaitham going through his school life as someone that most people dont even really know about because he keeps to himself and doesn't socialize, with kaveh being the one exception to that, finding his way into his life as his Best Friend, and then leading to alhaithams one and only time he participated in a research topic. his bio says he only ever did ONE joint project!!! one!!! the one with kaveh his best friend and i think also his only friend at the time!!!! and then it ended in not only the project falling apart but also alhaithams only friendship. kavehs best friendship. they were each others closest person. they had no family around - alhaithams parents having died when he was young and his grandmother dying before he joined the akademiya, and kaveh's dad dying when he was young and his mom having moved to fontaine. like even if you dont look at it through a romantic lens it's still undeniable how important they were [and are] to each other..........

i'm getting off track but my point is very specifically for alhaitham, the one time he got close to someone, made a friend, even agreed to join one(1) group project ever, it ended in disaster. it led him into a fight so bad that his one and only friend said he regretted that friendship!!!! it was so bad alhaitham left the project and he and kaveh didnt speak for ages until they just happened to run into each other again at the tavern!!!!! like obviously it has to be incredibly awful for both of them but i just think how this probably had alhaitham in the cynical mindset that friendships and collaborations like that might just never work out for him because the one time he let someone into his life, it blew up on him and he was all alone again. even though alhaitham never seems to care much if people dont like him, that clearly cant still apply to someone he was exceptionally close to. like if he didnt care he woudlnt have been the one to take his name off the project and mutually not speak to kaveh...... kavehs words are the ones that hit the most significantly to alhaitham.......... kaveh is said/implied to have had at least some other friends while at school / people knew who he was, but not so much alhaitham. people didnt know him and the ones that did just knew he didnt socialize/he was not easy to get along with. he only had kaveh and then, for a while, he lost him too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#the number of times i have reread alhaitham character story 4 and kaveh character story 5. like. dont look at me. kfjsdklfh #on one hand im tempted to think alhaitham would have a fully cynical view of friendship #and be like USELESS NEVER AMOUNTS TO ANYTHING but. i kinda dont think he works like that #well i dont think he would think that either way now but #even in times of friendship breaking up w/kaveh like #alhaitham is very FACTS AND LOGIC and i feel like he would still like #idk. understand the objective value of human companionship. whether or not he feels it works for him #HOWEVER. jkdlhfsd he is also the one who in his other lore bits was like 'grandmother the other children are boring at school'#AT AGE SEVEN god he was probably such an unintentionally funny child. i love u alhaitham u are so neurodivergently coded #so idk i feel like he would have a period where hes like okay. i was alone before and clearly that was the right call bc my 1 friend is gon #even if he does well alone i cant even imagine like. kaveh mustve been a huge impact and difference in alhaithams life #humans need SOME level of socialization!! and kaveh was his.... aughhh god they literally also read as having a bad breakup!!!!!#queer coded TO ME!!!!!! friends to rivals/friends to lovers to enemies to it's complicated..................#but again even if u dont think of it in a romantic sense like it's still so much. they were and are so significant to each other.#their bond is so complex and oughghdhgh they make me go bonkers #i do not think of any other 2 genshin characters so intensely as i do them .what have they done to me. what the fuck.#im alone in my stupid little genshin pit endlessly babbling about these motherfuckers!!!!!!!#and i love them. also i like that one scene in i think cynos 2nd character quest where al and kav r in the library or w/e #and kavehs like wtf no way u dont small talk w/coworkers. and alhaithams like no i just happen 2 hear people but i do not engage #hes so real he likes to eavesdrop but he does NOT want to get involved!!!!!!!!!!!!#also that same scene where kaveh goes 'WTF looking thru these will take FOREVER!!!!' alhaitham: 'ill manage'#kaveh: >:( FINE ILL HELP YOU!!!! like ok he did not ask. silly.#and alhaitham teasing him right after all that. my 1 (one) stardew opinion is shane should not have won the bachelor poll

#stardew valley #like i love shane but his storyline is not improved by him being a marriage canidate #if anything his bland post-marriage dialogue and 14 heart event dampen the message #and clint would have been a GREAT bachelor #linus not so much because he would have suffered from the same post-marriage dialogue dampening as shane #and he's too much of a free spirit to be tied down to your farm #like maybe he'd have a similar romance path as krobus? like you don't get MARRIED married but you have a commitment ceremony!!!#and the wizard... need to be in a love square with the witch and caroline...#his hidden dialogue. the situation with abigail. his adulterous past. his condescending behavior towards the player.#i also don't think he'd marry the player though. would probably make you soul bonded or something #maybe it increases your health or smth? and if you get divorced your health gets cut in half for like a week while you slowly recover #idk i really like the idea of him cursing you if you divorce him. We ought to write more Pokemon fic some time. We want to recreate the Pokemon Manners/Human Manners cheat sheet that we made a few years ago we think that this site would like the Sliding Scale Of Politeness When Greeting A New Pokemon You've Never Met Before.

#we speak #writing #we grew up with pmd games and we feel like the way that pmd pokemon's dialogue tends to be excessively... direct?#should be a feature and not a bug when any pokemon that you meet might be totally unfamiliar with your species and biology #it's probably very polite to start up front with some basic facts about yourself so they know how to act going forward #the very upfront feel to dialogue also very much helps with keeping the dialogue feel more... pokemon #people mock the series for weird npc dialogue a lot but we think that taking these things literally makes for more fun society building #it doesn't all have to fit with socially acceptable for our world we think. polite in our world isn't even consistent by household.#sometimes a polite interaction sounds like “hello! i'm poochyena! i like to chase people and bite!”#name and immediately socially useful information. now you know about the chasing people and biting so you don't assume it's rude #of course poochyena bites and chases people. it likes to do that. you can say you don't like that and it might stop doing that to You #but it will not stop biting and chasing people because that's what it likes to do and it will probably only befriend people okay with that #it makes a very specific dialogue feel that's very fun to do. we like how the pokemon world tends to treat any sort of like #disability or “weird” things as something that you just say out the gate and everyones like “oh okay”#and then treat that as Part Of Interactions going forwards. there are a surprising amount of parts of the pokemon manga #that are dedicated to working around a character's disability after one or all of their means of dealing with it get taken out #admittedly we aren't that caught up on newer content but we find the way that it tends to be just Accepted as very refreshing #making the dialogue this direct does also tend to make it read as more “childish” in english and particular because a lot of Maturity's jus #learning how to dance around what you're saying or phrase it in different ways to get your idea across differently #whereas here everything is just as direct as possible. “i don't like charmander”. “i like roasting berries”. “i want to dig things up”.#all pokemon dialogue tends to go towards being exceedingly simple and it makes for some very distinct writing #especially when you have to tackle complex situations with characters who probably dont employ that sort of vocabulary #though we personally enjoy doing this sort of stuff your mileage may vary ofc #we are biased towards this sort of thins because we find it MUCH more fun to build up what we're talking about from blocks #than to like. try and use more indirect wording that may lose things in translation #unfortunately this is not fun in irl conversation. everyone has to be on the same page and you need to use the same playbook to communicate #we REALLY wish people said what they meant though. we're really tired of being asked shit like “is this accessible”#when what they mean is “can you climb these stairs” a question which depends on the day our energy level and how things have been going #there are a lot of things we could say that would make us feel like some sort of anti sjw type guy and a lot of em boil down to just #"for the love of god dont dance around a Sensitive Topic just get to the point and ask us about it this just makes things harder for everyo

i’m so glad we’ve started to open up to the possibility that the MCI is pre-CC bite cuz i’ve been thinking this for a while (yeah kid can be traumatized by his brother being a dick, but still) and while i know no one likes to 1:1 everything, it was really solidified as a concept for me w vanessa’s thing in the movie considering i’m pretty sure the MCI kids are CC’s age so that would be a very intriguing parallel. like william doesn’t need a “good” motive, he can just be awful.

#and while ik that people see vanessa as an elizabeth parallel and occasionally i see michael said #i think she may parallel all three. especially if GF kid isn’t related to her #even if he is tbh. consider it’s clear that chrs are combined and split (charlotte+CC=garrett probably while GF kid exists separately #when it’s clear that regardless of his role in the series cc is connected to GF in some capacity.)#at the very least if garrett isn’t a charlie alternative (he totally is. no way he’s not) he’s still cc and GF kid is a boy so #so that is def a split character in some capacity. same with abby vs vanessa. they’re BOTH elizabeth #NOT TO MENTION THE HOSPITAL THING #i’m just really thinking she takes all 3’s roles to an extent #that was sooooo deliberately written dialogue wise #anyways i love the fnaf movie so so much idgaf what people say #william afton has never been a good person why does he need an ‘admirable’ (debatable regardless.) motive. it just bothers me a lil #i know it’s not *as satisfying* or whatever but he’s just a shitty person who was a shitty dad and had the capacity to kill people.#this is no hate to anyone btw #just not liking the william motive argument. i don’t mind where anyone puts the MCI just that being used to justify it bothers me a lot #fe rambles

one of the lesser talked about fun things about intentionally reading more books is finding new stuff to be a bit of a hater about tbh

#and i know sometimes im probably just not properly picking up whatever the writer is putting down but whatever it's still fun #to actually know what you think about stuff like the highly regarded classics and extremely popular hyped up things #here are a few writers im a bit of a hater about w my opinions now btw #neil gaiman: does not do it for me at alllll #have read the graveyard book and american gods and hated almost every minute of both #in american gods i just found the aesthetic ideas and characters completely unappealing and in the graveyard book #i thought it was dreary and not well described enough... kept feeling like it was too bare bones in some way to picture things properly #i was like 'hmm i wish this was one of his graphic novels instead bc i'd like to be able to see what's going on here a bit better...'#also his humour just never lands for me and i do not often get his references either #ray bradbury annoys me in a similar way to neil gaiman but also somewhat oppositely like where #the way they write characters and plots and ideas and the stuff they care about gets on my nerves in an almost identical way #that i don't know how to define except to say i had a bit of a 'same energy' experience reading Something Wicked This Way Comes #and some of neil gaiman's stuff #but unlike neil gaiman i think that ray bradbury attempts to describe things unusually so much and TOO much #to the point that it takes me out of the story in a different yet similar way #to how the lack of description in neil gaiman's stuff does #what else have i become a bit of a hater about or did not get the appeal of lately? hmmm #oh hp lovecraft hahahaha #least scary stories ever god everything he's scared of is so dumb #like even aside from his extremely racist takes and fear of the 'exotic other' his fears about being cosmically insignificant are just like #yeah and? whats so scary about that hahaha i literally just dont get it #also the amount he writes dialogue in heavy accents annoys the shit out of me #p

#With the heatwave combined with being ill for like an entire week it seems I've lost like 16 days this month #where I basically did barely anything... grrr.... The passage of time... My Enemy...#Now that I can finally hold down food and stuff I'm feeling a little better mostly and my sickness has probably passed. But I still #feel weird a little bit like.. some lingering weakness or something. I think I'm just already having so many Problems at all times even in #my 'Normal' state that whenever I get sick or something my whole system is thrown off for a while lol #I'm supposed to be writing like 2000 words a day still ghbjhb... I've had multiple days of maybe 1000 - 1500. And a lot of days #where I write maybe 20 - 300. I've still been chipping away at the same single quest dialogue for all 20 something #days this month so.. AUGH.. Though that also counts the 16 days I did nearly nothing but be sick and overheated #I finally edited that whole big sims video I wanted to post!!! but now there's an issue with it ... T o T #My fault for still almost exclusively using windows movie maker in 2024 lol.. but HHHHhh.. It's like every once in a while randomly #a fully edited video will not be able to be exported. so evil for this to happen to my first sims build tour in a while. but alas..#ANYWAY... I have been slowly working on little things here and there.. in my little scraps of time.. Wishing to be fully productive at #some point. Maybe I can finally finish and post some things soon. like costume photos or sims videos and etc.#BUT HEY.. that solitaire thing is crazy to me.. I don't think I've ever finished a challenge in under 20 seconds #before. huzzah.. tripeaks squad.. OH.. and an image of #curly tail boye.............. he..... I took him to the vet for a check up and he seems surprisingly okay for a 16 year old. except he has #a mild thyroid issue or something so I'll have to give him medicine. But every time he goes in I'm always expecting them to be like #Sorry. Your Son Is Truly Doomed. or etc. so I'm always shocked when he's fine... a strange boy with many strange behaviors #so I can never tell if he's just Being Weird or if he's sick or soemthing ghjbjh #Also the bad thing about never ending summer heat is that when it IS finally cool for a few days. I don't want to do ANYTHING. It's like wh #n it's hot I feel too sick to do anything. And then when it's cooler I'm like 'OUU the first cool day in WEEKS.. i want to just relax and #fully ENJOY the coolness..'' So it's always constant warfare with my body like.. NO ..we cannot SLEEP. We must utilize this small patch #of Non Heatwave to finally be productive and finish things while we don't feel sick. But then it's like ''ohoho...to lay in the cold air of #the morning restfully.. i shall have a little nap with a blanket on for once.. perhaps.. tee hee'' Always at war with the Tired Sleepy #it seems. AAAANyway...... grr............ slowly finishing things. still usually missing my target writing goals..#Hopefully will have some actual art or costumes or something to post soon. Fumbling through the summer weather as usual lol

even if you don’t play DnD definitely go see honor among thieves; it’s super fun and well-done and accessible to people who’ve never played. if you want a slightly enhanced experience, do what I did an go with folks who do play, and ask them some of their favorite settings, character types, creatures, or tropes on the way over so you can be delighted when you recognize something.

#I was so thrilled to know about the underdark #and owlbears and mimics #really enhanced my delight #dndhat #dadhat #idk how long it’s been since I went to the movies #years probably #but it was so much fun #i was really impressed by how enjoyable the movie was for me #not knowing any of the tropes or lore or such #very accessible. they talk in interviews about using structures viewers will be familiar with to ease them into the setting #and they do a good job of not getting bogged down in terminology and just showing what things are/do #at the same time there are tons of settings and creatures and items that the friends I went with could recognize and enjoy #most weren’t plot related but they obviously added to the atmosphere #fight scenes were great #dialogue was funny #and there were a few times where you could even intuit mechanics despite it not being part of the movie #j next to me in the theater: persuasion check #or the dm making a complicated puzzle or obstacle course only for the party to immediately break it or go around #rip thank you for your service

y'all seriously overestimating just how much solavellan will even matter. you know the romance in DAI was a single cutscene right? where he dumps you lol. comparatively the least content by far. and this game isn't about the inquisitor. yes it's about Solas but he may or may not have this relationship with last game's player character so, it isn't going to be given center stage. I get being annoyed with the obnoxious chronically fandom-pilled online teenagers and Disney adults, but they do this bullshit in every single space they take up. just ignore them and the rage inducing algorithms of modern social media

instead of being pissed off that one of only two vital choices is whether the Inquisitor said to redeem or stop Solas, how about be pissed off that that decision presumably is what is going to colour your Inquisitor's personality, which now I am left to assume is one of two (.5 for romanced) people, the "redeem" version being you talk soberly about Solas and say shit like "I feel responsible for him... I wish I could convince him to change his mind... He is a good person doing bad things... So sad..." and the "stop" version being you talk aggressively about Solas and say shit like "I feel slighted by him... I wish I had never allowed him access to such resources... He is a bad person doing bad things... So callous..." Like can we instead please be angry that they don't care about respecting the individuality of our different game experiences? This is not about Solas. And this is not about solavellan. It's about apparently the only thing mattering being a check in the box, when the actual experience of this *role playing game* is not universal. Not every inquisitor is going to feel about or respond to Solas in the same ways, even within the confines of solavellan, even within "stop" or "redeem". Like, I have lavellans that romanced him and would treat him kindly, I have some that would treat him bitterly, some that would treat him angrily, some that forgive and some that are furious. Do I get to experience these different possibilities? Apparently not. And it has nothing to do with solavellan. That being a part of the story is not the reason they've limited the flavours here to either one or the other. We shitting on Solas/solavellan now just bc of the most obnoxious voices you could possibly imagine? Ok cool

#i guarantee you it will yet again be like three differences in dialogue. if you were with him for trespasser you had one extra wheel and #and a different animation for him removing the magic. you got: a slight variation to the content within extremely reasonable #parameters for 'talk to go either in negative approval positive approval or a romance path'. like. what do you think is really gonna happen #you honestly believe theres gonna be Inquisitor content and then +150% more if you're a solavallen ???? be serious.#it would SHOCK me if we even got an additional cutscene with the man. i am going into this with the reasonable assumption #that it will be handled much like trespasser. and you again. get slightly different dialogue in like two segments of the conversation #me not being able to select my Inquisitor's dialogue in a scene feels to me that theyre not gonna touch much. they barely said shit w Hawke #who had completed story arcs....the solavellan thread was not tied up so leaving that up to auto dialogue feels insane to me #i have to fuckin wonder man. some of yall seem to think we're gonna have to running around as inquisitor and talking to ppl as inquisitor #this whole damn time. and in no way has any marketing given this impression for any second. the opposite in fact. the inquisitor is gonna be #a fuckin statue in the lighthouse ok #you'll probably have your intro couple of dialogue trees exactly like when hawke shows up at skyhold #and then they just chill there and go “solas sucks” when you pester them if they went Stop or go “solas needs help” for Save #until the climax when he finally busts out thr fade and you're gonna go have your big final fights and decide his fate #then they'll be like “im also here btw” and here if theyre solavellan they'll be like “solas it's our last night on earth can we smooch” and #if you've been getting the Solas is Fine Actually ending they walk off. and then the next day you have the same boss fight you always would #like come the fuck on i mean yall. dude inquisition is RIGHT there. and they did FUCK ALL with hawke!!!! inquisitor is not going to matter #so can we just. shut tf up? why are Solas fans the ones putting this bullshit all over my dashboard. like. just ignore the fuckin assholes.
