You know what irritates me? Text about white privilege (No, it's not that I'm mad that it's said that white people get sympathy more often, because it's true, I can confirm that, yes, I'm white myself, but I've seen so much shit that I agree with that), specifically addressed in the fandom to underage characters, who are victims of their parents (Mean characters who are mean because of toxic relationships or abuse), it sounds weird, like writing off a child for being defenseless because he is white and has rich parents, WTF
I saw it often with Chloe from miracolous, but it also happened with Pacifica from GF, that their redemption or sympathy in the fandom was related to it, people are children, often victims of their parents' abuse (in Pactfika it is the father, in Chloe it is mother), saying that white privilege is disgusting by context, so what, that they come from rich families when violence occurs in them? Are we seriously going in this direction when we attack characters who are children because they do not want to burn them at the stake? (Although Chloe is an accident and the worst thing is that many people defend it, I remind you, she is fucking 14 years old)
Have we seriously gone in such a bad direction that we want children to be harmed because they are white and have rich parents? I wonder if if these nasty characters were non-white, would you feel the same way, because they are also privileged, because many non-white people are not wealthy, so if they are victims of abuse, you should ignore it, because they are too privileged…
White privilege is then, for example, the approach of the police towards whites, which is different from the way the police see black or Latino people, or the case of Ukraine, which is more publicized while Palestine, Sudan and Congo are silent, this can already be called white privilege , not a child who is a victim of violence, damn it
If redeeming a white child who was a victim of violence is a white privilege for you, then something went wrong with your thinking, Chloe and Pacifica are two spectrums, one was thrown into the wrong pile by its creator, while the other got redemption (Maybe it wasn't as good as Sasha and Amita, but it inspired the creation of these two and I love it)
It's just irrational to me to say that a white child who is a victim of parental violence or struggles with other issues cannot be redeemed, or others cannot want this character to be redeemed, because it means white privilege, which makes no sense. the child is not privileged, rich parents are not a feature of privilege, when they abuse this child, the child is not privileged on many levels, because it does not have the privilege of safety, parent-child relationship, lack of loneliness, etc.
As you will notice, many non-white characters have such privileges, which shows the bleak world of this character who you consider "Privileged", in the real world he would struggle with problems related to poor parenting and go to therapy, she would also have a lower view of his problems because "Others have it worse", so she would lead to ignorance of her mental state by constantly telling herself that things are not that bad
Many people with this type of parenting end up like this, either they have narcissistic traits (Chloe and Pacifica) or they look at themselves worse (Amity)
If you believe that responding to this type of violence is "White Privilege", then you ignore that being white does not always mean that you are "Privileged" (LGBT+ people, people with disabilities, autistic people, women, etc.), because it is doesn't work, yes you are in some but you are not in many
A child who experiences violence is not privileged, regardless of whether he is white or his parents are rich, because he is a victim, and being a victim is not a privilege, it is the opposite of "Privilege"
I had to write this because it pisses me off in the fandom, it is not an attack on non-white people, it is an attack on people who think that white = privileged (Which, as I mentioned, has nothing to do with the truth, because so what if you are white, if you are a victim of discrimination due to your orientation, gender, disability or origin? Exactly…), look at children for what they are and what they experience, not on their skin color and the wealth of their parents, because now you deny violence in the case of children who are white and their parents are rich, and all violence should be seen in the same way, because a child is weaker than an adult, no matter what wrong he or she does, you should look at him as a child and remember that his brain is not fully developed to make you 100% aware that what she is doing is wrong
Yes, the child should be punished, but he or she should also receive support, because often doing bad things is a child's cry for help (he often does not understand how he hurts others, and often does it to regulate the emotions that are inside) and yes, you can feel it with Chloe (Who, as I mentioned, was put in the wrong pile by Thomas and many people in the fandom, which shows a big problem, the creator himself and many of the fandom also deny that Chloe's mother abused her, which is sick)
It's just that when you are an adult and you see how many adults in the fandom hate a child, you shake your head, because no matter how much the character irritates you, wanting him to suffer shows that you are not yet mature enough to understand the seriousness of the situation of what you want. for this child to experience, using the argument "Because it's fictional" is weak, because it's still a child, so it doesn't deserve your hatred, but an attempt to understand
Children are irritating, children are cruel, because their brain is not fully developed, finally understand it, they have not yet developed empathy and understanding at the same level as you
So your argument about "White Privilege" in this context sounds cruel, because you are directly saying that reacting to violence when a child is white and has a rich family should not be saved because he is mean and cries for help in his behavior, that's how it is terrible train of thought that makes me wonder what went wrong in your life, being a victim should not be about wanting others to suffer, it should be about wanting others not to experience this, yes, I was a scapegoat (Before I was diagnosed with ASD, mutism and social phobia), I was always "Abnormal" and everyone was laughing at me (They were teasing me, I mean…), no one told me why, and when I asked, it ended with laughter…
Do I now want every able-bodied person to experience this? No, because no one deserves it, I can only hope that those who teased me feel remorse today, but they are ashamed to say it and suppress everything inside themselves, this is already enough punishment for everything, no more is needed
I don't want other children to experience this, I don't want children who do this to be punished for their parents' mistakes, but they get help when they have time to change and become better, this is something they should get, not a stack waiting to be burned
Children don't know what good and evil are, children follow the crowd, children can't handle emotions so they hurt others to feel better, children are children and we can only help them understand or help them with their problems
I just had to write about what irritates me in this way of thinking…

People who have always had everything geared toward them--media, healthcare, society--feel erased when confronted with ONE thing they care about that doesn't find their identity primary. This is why we have toxic fandoms, a resurgence of racist politics, and a lot of the other issues we're facing--it's temper tantrums from adults who have never had to feel as if the society they live in isn't specifically geared toward them.

I don't want to sound pretentious when i say all this (and this ended up being really long??), but i really do think you don't need to uphold your online presence so consciously, or even at all. There's nothing wrong with being "inactive" because trying to show up for everything is some sick standard social media made up. Maybe it might be difficult to uphold an idgaf personality, but i can say from my experience it could be better to try a little bit at a time. I can say that they really do mean it when you can have quiet admirers, from my experience all the more. Maybe they're too shy to put silly tags when they reblog or just put a like on your post. And I don't think you have to worry too much about sticking to one piece of media and be afraid the people following you won't like you anymore for posting different content. At most, I just believe they won't really care enough to unfollow you or stop engaging entirely. The most important thing to me is that you stick around doing the things you actually want to do, even if you're just showing up every month or so, or black out for a year or more. Because the people who do care will be overjoyed to see you whatever you post or share, especially when you come back after a long time. It really is discouraging when you don't see that actively, maybe because we're so used to seeing numbers that relate to our worth. But i like to imagine we're waving at each other from a distance or smiling through a window, as horrid as online landscapes can be nowadays. I know i'm running my mouth here but i just wanted to share my experience because i um. 🙋 also think youre really cool and awesome and i love whatever work you do and the fact you share it is an amazing thing enough i feel privelaged and youre humor is funny and whatever new stuff you post is just introducing me to things i'll also think is cool down the line and i really do wish i can share my appericiation more and evolve from being a quiet admirer /inhales/ 👍 i would say this is a sort of love letter from the gas station but i also mean it as kai 👋 i hope you're doing well in uni or that it gets better soon or in whatever it is youre doing now. and whether or not youre online, i hope youre doing the things you enjoy 🫶
okay i needed some time to figure out how to respond to this ask because theres a lot (in a /pos way dont worry) so ill start off with saying that i really really and i do mean it Really appreciate what you said here. Especially lately, ive been struggling with being active online outside of small spaces where there are just me and a few other people. might be me feeling overwhelmed when i say something into the void with a high chance of no response, though i wont fault anyone for that. i myself know interaction is scary so i do get it. ever since i started using the internet ive stuck to my small online bubbles so yeah interaction kind of intimidating online
and though i agree it does feel discouraging to sometimes see no feedback or much of a reaction, i try not to be bummed out about it myself because im also a silent admirer of many artists online. so like ive said before i do understand that sometimes people are shy and dont interact directly and theres no pressure really to change that. just the idea that there are people that like what i make is really nice, even though i suffer from the same issue that maaany other artists have and i need to actively remind myself of that.
about sticking to one fandom its a very recent but big issue to me because ive been DEEP in the persona pit for like 4 years, and i certainly built an audience around that. i know there will always be people that stick around no matter what but despite that theres always that nagging feeling that maaybe things will crumble. obviously thats not true but human mind fucking SUCKS
as the final note ill say it again that your message means a lot to me and i thank you a lot for it <333 im soo flattered by your words and they made my past two days, thank you soo much

[Throws fistful of deranged ask game confetti] 4 for Texas you!
1. Have you written scenes (sex or otherwise) that actually made you feel uncomfortable, and how did you deal?
12. Look up your current fandom on IMDB and do a fuck/marry/kill of the first 3 top-billed characters.
14. What's your favourite way to emotionally destroy your favourite character?
17. If you could steal one fic from any other writer and claim it as your own, what would you take?
1. Yep! I wrote a character study that sort of explored self righteousness and privelaged people taking what they want. It contained rape/non-con, which was horrid to write. Had to keep stopping to collect my thoughts. It wasn't explicit, but still, it was hard to write. I just dealt with it by going slow and like, "this is going to add so much depth to it".
12. Current favorite fandom is For A Few Dollars More- first three characters were Manco, Colonel Mortimer and El Indio.
Fuck Manco, cause he seems like the type of guy. One night stand, leave in the morning, done.
Marry Mortimer, cause he's older, he's experienced. Probably gonna leave me for Manco, but hey, he probably knows a thing or two about cooking or something.
And that leaves me with killing El Indio- serves his character right, but my god, Gian Maria Volonte is PRETTY
14. Panic attacks!! Panic attacks and paranoia! I have experienced it personally, so I can very vividly describe the experience. Not fun for my poor characters, but uh.. >:)
17. @dansedan 's fic "Tierno", it's such a well written display of a character study and makes my heart flutter as a trans man. And, again, Gian Maria Volonte <3

Hi, I try to only post fics and memes on this account, but I’m honestly just fucking fed up. Especially after this fucking year. If y’all could chill with the BLATANT RACISM in the Chris Evans tag, that’d be really cool. First of all, these are FICTIONAL. NOT REAL. Let people write what they want, how they want, and leave them alone. Coming after WOC and non-white writers is so fucking ignorant. You seriously need to do some soul searching if seeing people writing about THEIR fantasies and showing their creative side pisses you off. Second, Chris is not fucking property. He’s not a house, car, motorcycle, or boat. Meaning, YOU DO NOT OWN HIM. It’s not up to you decide who gets to write about him and who doesn’t. Lastly, shaming WOC and non-white writers is seriously damaging. I’ve been on this site since 2012 and the amount of diversity in writing has gone up SIGNIFICANTLY. To me, that’s beautiful because people are starting to feel more comfortable, WHICH THEY SHOULD. Shunning and being an outright twat to someone can be extremely damaging to their creative process, and that happens enough already in the real world. Leave people alone and let them be fucking happy. Also, to everyone who says “I’m not being racist I’m just being realistic”, shut the fuck up cause you’re being racist as fuck. Thank you for coming to this venting session and have a lovely holiday 🙃🙃
Just wanna add that this goes for people who shame writers who shame others for putting Chris in same-sex or trans relationships. Let people fucking express themselves and be happy. If you don’t like it, don’t fucking read it. You don’t need to go out of your way to be a piece of shit. Honestly, grow the fuck the fuck up and grow a heart. Art and expression are not limited to whatever the fuck suits you and makes you comfortable. K, I’m really going now. Bye.

This is actually a really interesting topic, so I'm reblogging to talk about it not just in your case Lixi, but in a general sense. (And because Twitter doesn't give me enough characters to say it effectively.)
So a long time ago I recall hearing a story about an author who killed her fandom. I don't recall what it was, but she was running rampant trying to sue artists and fanfiction writers over their fan work, no matter the quality of the content. This pissed people off so badly that they stopped supporting her work, and it hurt her a lot.
And I always wondered, why would anyone do such a thing? Fan work is a love letter to the original creators, a deeper look into how their audience sees their work, and a harmonious blend of multiple artists coming together to create something magnificent. Not to mention for some cases, it's free advertising. All these people who love your work, promoting it with their own takes on it? What a great thing! Of course there are exceptions, but usually it's positive. And it creates a sense of community where people can share their interests in a piece of fiction together.
That being said, a community is a place that should be welcoming. Having to constantly ask permission every time you want to so much as share a doodle of a character, no matter who they belong to, is stifling. It's not welcoming, and there will be several people who won't have the courage to ask and therefore will never share their work. Sometimes they're shy, sometimes it's anxiety, or a lack of social skills, or lack of knowledge on knowing where to go to ask, or any number of things. And with some creators, the bigger they get, it's difficult to get their attention and have an answer in a prompt or timely manner, as so many get flooded with asks and art and other things happening in their life. They don't have time to answer every question. And as the creator, whether you like it or not, there will always be fans who put you on a pedestal because they love your work, and that makes you intimidating to talk to, they're afraid of not meeting your approval and may not have the courage to overcome it for years. On top of that, specific to Tumblr, asks get eaten all the time, so questions about content may never reach creators because of a faulty system.
At the same time, I can understand concerns about theft and mature content when it comes to fan work. Fun fact, I want to write a book one day, and one of the books I'd like to write has a main character that is very quietly asexual. Now on the off chance I ever make it big and get published, I am terrified of people drawing mature content of this character, but if the work gets enough attention, it's guaranteed that it'll happen. It goes against my wishes, and furthermore proves that whoever's reading didn't understand my work or just would rather do their own thing, but who am I to say they can't? I would hope they'd choose to respect my wishes, but I can't stop people from interpreting things differently than how they're intended, they have a right to that and it should be exercised. Who knows? Maybe they'll find something in that character that I missed, potential for them to have something good in ways I hadn't thought of.
Theft is a bit more tricky. People who claim your work as their own rarely get away with it, especially when there's countless ways of using metadata to protect yourself (which I should really do a post on at some point). Not to mention, in many fan communities, we're good about having each other's backs and pointing out art thieves when they're found. I hate cancel culture, but I'm all for cancelling art theft and educating whoever does it as to why it's harmful and they shouldn't do it.
The bottom line is that being exclusive in what your rules are about content has its pros and cons. I'm of the opinion that there should be freedom to express our love of people's work, but I also believe in respecting a content Creator's wishes, a common ground that let's everyone enjoy a community. So remember to consider all sides of the story, who they benefit and harm, and come to your own informed conclusions! There's a lot of factors to consider!
I made a poll on my Twitter regarding the last post about my restrictions on drawing any of my characters! I'd appreciate your feedback!~👏💜

I find myself incredibly confused by the concept of race, especially what people mean when they say white. Like, is it about appearance or ethnicity? Who decides what is and isn't white? Is it about culture or privilege?
Honestly, I thought Oscar Isaac was white until told otherwise and there's been numerous other actors who I've been told aren't white even though I intially thought they were. I'm not saying they are white. I don't know who decides what whiteness is but it certainly isn't me.
It's just a bit confusing to me especially since I am hearing so many different things from different sides. Like, some people argue that whiteness is about appearance and privelage so someone who looks "white" and is percieved by others to be white is white. And of course what looks "white" isn't very clear either. And others argue that it's about ethnicity so people of such-and-such ethnicity can never be white even if they look "white."
Fandom is probably not the right space to try to find a balanced discussion on the topic but I'm just a bit frustrated and confused especially since one of my fandoms is prone for this type of discussion and discourse about a certain character and whether they're "white" or not. Not even sure why it matters if they are white or not but people in fandom keep talking about it and I keep getting more confused.
--
Oh boy...
Okay, the first thing to understand is what whiteness was historically. European ethnicities tended to think of themselves as that. American colonists would still be "English" even if they were second generation.
"Whiteness" as a concept was developed to justify colonialism and the trans-Atlantic slave trade. It's about unifying a disparate group of ethnicities (often ones with long histories of conflict) into one group so that they have the numbers to keep the boot on the neck of other groups. Shitty concepts about the "civilized" world or the Christian world have long existed. Whiteness exists as an extension of that.
Read an Agatha Christie novel from the 1930s, and you'll see Greek characters described as dark and other, though the concept of "whiteness" isn't used, just the concept of Englishness.
The second thing to understand is that many internet slapfights are taking a US concept of race and whiteness and applying it globally. This leads to misunderstandings and confusion since whiteness is a cultural construct. What whiteness literally is in the US can be different from what it literally is in some other country. It's not about opinion or people trying to pretend they're something else: the actual commonplace understanding in different locations is different.
The third thing to understand is passing. US ideas about race are heavily influenced by our particular history of slavery. We have the "one drop rule" (one drop of African blood = black) embedded in our unconscious. Thus if you look white but have some heritage that wouldn't normally be considered white, you're white passing, but you aren't white. The concept of passing applies in many places and to many identities; however, there are also plenty of places where "whiteness" is defined in a "looks like a duck, quacks like a duck" manner. If you have light skin, the right cultural mannerisms, the right clothing, etc., then you are white. It doesn't matter what's hiding in your family tree.
Oscar Isaac is Latino. While the US says that's a different type of category from race, because of our border with Mexico and our political drama over poor Mexican farm workers, we tend to conflate Latine identity with being brown. Oscar Isaac grew up in Florida and is working in the US industry, so it makes sense that he'd identify as a person of color, not because it's an objective fact but because he's making a political statement. He's intentionally claiming his minority heritage and waving it in the faces of Hollywood gatekeepers. His actual name is Óscar Isaac Hernández Estrada. Like many US Latine actors, he chose a stage name that was more "white". It's a strategy that does often bring more career success for white-looking actors, but a lot of them are bitter about it later and want to make their real identities clearer.
But I know tons of Latin American fans who are like "Yeah, he'd be white around here." I don't know exactly what categories are relevant in each of their particular countries. Perhaps white, mixed, and native with the big determiners being language and culture.
--
Now, in a fandom discussion, people will also be twisting all of the above to justify why their OTP is woke and their NOTP is terrible. They may also be talking past each other from different cultural backgrounds.
If you want to know about "race" and other identities, go look up writings on the history of the concept or books about the construction of identity in modern Latin America or Europe. If you want to understand a fandom discussion, assume it's a shipwar and everyone is arguing in bad faith; most things will begin to make sense.

I feel like sometimes people think I’m joking when I say you should say you’re white in your bio, but I truly do think it’s a good call, and I do think it is genuinly important
1) Especially if you are a content creator/artist/writer/etc. The work you make is through your specific lense and experiences, and when you plan on making work representing another cultures or race, this becomes important information to know. (This has become even more important with blackfishing becoming a more prevelant issue, I recommend checking out this thread for more info!)
2) Even more so if you plan on discussing issues of race and culture, your whiteness can NOT be ignored during these discussions. I feel like this is obvious.
3) POC like knowing this information, and I certainly feel more trusting of white people who immediately let me know they are white, and are unafraid of admitting their privelage and whiteness.
4) if it still makes you uncomfortable at LEAST put it in your cardd or about or somewhere easily accessible so I’m not left wondering if this random person trying to talk with me about offensive caricatures in fandom is some white person sharing their personal thoughts or a fellow Latine who wants to discuss this issue with me. Ya know?

This is going to be a correct me if I’m wrong post because I’m not 100% educated on this , but I DO feel strongly about it and I might die on this hill if you don’t bring valid points to the table,
Why in gods name do we censor people with mental illness who make mistakes that clearly link back to their mental illness experience? Why do we always call it “an excuse.”
Why do we always say “any mention of mental illness as an explanation for why something bad occurred gives people with that mental illness a bad name” or “it’s being used as an exuse ALWAYS if it’s mentioned at ALL to why bad behavior occurred.”
Not everyone with mental illness will lash out, that’s a fact - but we shouldn’t censor that mental illness does cause people to lash out or act irrationally at times. Mental illness isn’t always going to be simple and clean.
Someone saying after an apology “I had an aggressive outburst because my PTSD caused me to get angry irrationally. This was wrong of me, and I will work to fix this and avoid triggers in future situations.”
Is 100% not the same as saying
“I have PTSD, so I’ll always just act wrong. Deal with it.”
The first is an explanation and taking accountability. The second is an excuse and shouldn’t be tolerated. If the person is learning how to curb bad behavior caused by mental illness, (and the case isn’t crime related like r/pe, murder, etc.) why is everyone so out to get them.
People on the cancel culture craze are all about understanding mental illness until someone with mental illness makes a mistake, then suddenly it’s “mental illness can’t ever cause a wrong doing don’t bring it up at all.”
Mental illness should never be used as an excuse to justify actions, but also,
Mental illness IS an explanation to why bad behavior occurs in some cases, and the person trying to defend themselves shouldn’t have to walk on eggshells when explaining why something occurred in the first place. They should be allowed to say they have mental illness, but they shouldn’t say it in replacement of taking accountability.
Yes, it shouldn’t be used as an excuse. But also, we shouldn’t claim every mention of mental illness is an excuse. Mental illness isn’t a fandom or a community, it’s something people live with and it will sometimes effect their actions. You can’t make mentally ill people look bad when mental illness effects everyone differently.
Before someone jumps on me for privelage,
This is coming from someone with diagnosed PTSD, Depression, anxiety, and medically recognized D.I.D.

Quick question- I fully support and agree with your post about CP and Crystal, and you mentioned C@rli by name as being someone that seems to turn a blind eye. In no way am I disagreeing with you, I’m not a fan of hers myself, but I wondered if you knew of any specific instances (aside from standing for the anthem) where she’s failed to show support for her POC/LGBT+ teammates? Again, this isn’t meant to challenge you or anything like that, I just genuinely don’t know and I’m pretty new to the USWNT/NWSL fandom 🙂
thank you for the framing of ur question -- totally understand :)
ok so carl* has stood for the anthem the entire time, first of all as u mentioned. specifically it got gross at the send off game vs mexico when cp & crystal didn't participate in the anthem (had their hands behind their backs & faced the veteran playing the anthem, not the flag). also to be clear, a number of white players also did this. the media of course got a hold of it though & was in a tizzy about "players not facing the flag" or "turning their back on the veteran" etc & it was a mess in general but then carl* went & tweeted that she & every other teammate w their hand on their heart were facing the flag. so ofc then cp & crystal got singled out (once again) as being disrespectful etc. (they weren't At All but like if they wanted to be let's go girls!) anyway so that was like the most recent blatant thing. cp & crystal received death threats on twitter bc of it. (also - when i brought up tobin too its bc she participated in the anthem here & then stopped in the olympics. idk if its bc she talked to cp & crystal or bc it was a veteran or Whatever but it's just an example of a white player who did something kinda gross & then (for whatever reason) reevaluated & actively stood in solidarity.)
but back to last summer when everyone was posting their little black squares on ig & then not doing anything productive ... carl* couldn't even do that. here r here (now deleted) tweets:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
anyway i trust u dont need me to go into why being colorblind, having 'friends who are all different races' & not being 'white privelaged [sic]' are just .. the fucking worst lol but here we are
there's more too & im lowkey convinced shes a republican but like. just gross, she just sucks as a person

Fire Nation Culture of Cruelty, Ruthlessness, Ambition, Abuse and Facistic Propaganda and it's effects on Azulon, Ozai and Azula.
Is redemption possible for this Father-daughter duo? 🤔
Ozai is a product of the Imperial Absolute Monorachy Facistic State and Society of the Fire Nation. Ozai was raised from childhood to be warrior, a conqueror, a killer, a Imperialist, a brutal warlord and dictator like his grandfather and father before him.
The "outliers" Iroh, Lu Ten and Zuko were raised the same way as Ozai and have many of his warmongering ways but have more empathy and kindness. The difference between Ozai and his other peers is probably abuse. Ozai probably had more negative relationship with his father Azulon who he wanted to impress as a children want to for their parents.
His Grandfather Sozin and father Azulon are genocidal warmongers that have killed thousands to possibly millions of innocent people for their regime gaining resources and infamy. Agni Kai's, Genocide, War Crimes, Murder, Assassinations, Child "Discipline" aka Child Abuse in normalize in this society for OVER ONE-HUNDRED YEARS.
The some fire nation nobels and royal turn out to be "good" "average"people unlike Ozai and Azula (Mai, Ty Lee, Iroh, Ursa, Zuko) . But, that doesn't mean Ozai and Azula were born evil. They just do in their nation propaganda and brainwashing by their society, social and political structure more serious and on face value. Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan had good people in their society and thought THEIR society was the most MORAL and RIGHTEOUS despite committing grave acts of genocide.
Azulon, Ozai and Azula are VICTIMS of Sozin policies of Racism, discrimination, imperialism, and nationalism being brainwashed in a endless cycle of lies and hatred by their forefathers. Azulon, Ozai, and Azula are villains for their behavior and cruelty, but this behavior was passed down to them since childhood and the conditioning is hard to break.
Iroh and Zuko had to go through tremendous mental trauma and suffering due to Lu Ten death or Agni Kai's scaring and banishment. It took pain to them personally and years/months of guidance in order to realize the truth and come to terms with the reality and history of the Fire Nation brutality and cruelty domestic and international.
Ozai and Azula hadn't interact or related to any WT or EK people, from Azulon, Ozai and Azula point of view they are the enemies of their people and are savages and threats that need to be dealt with. Azulon, Ozai and Azula grew up in a world of privelage and war with FN propaganda. They can careless about their own children wellbeing let alone their peasants or their enemies. It why the FN is willing to use EK war prisoners as meat shield and FN troops as "a pack of fresh meat".
The FN state and high society cares only power, "glory", war, domination, "respect", and pride. Which is why Sozin, Azulon, Ozai, Zhao, and Azula are the way they are and others like Iroh, Ursa, Zuko and Ty Lee are Outliers. Again Iroh and Zuko are unique and Ty Lee and Mai are just lower class rebellious teenagers girls with limited authority and exception compared to their royal counterparts.
Even regular children in the FN are sent to coal miners for disobeying and disobedience, now imagine the ruthless punishment for noble and royal children who MUST conform and obey and be obedient slaves to Sozin's ideals and ideology. Ozai's abuse of Zuko and Azula probably doesn't seem likely abuse to him. The FN probably don't believe child abuse mental, psychological, or physical. But, I doubt physically harm his children beside Agni Kai. Ozai's is to turn Zuko and Azula into killing machines of war for the fascist imperialist nation state. Being a father to his children is secondary to him.
A Ozai and Azula Redemption need them to be able to break free from this cycle of hatred and brainwashing will take along of help and faith from other who escaped aka Iroh, Ursa, and Zuko. Even a spiritual and cultural journey will be necessary along with a lot of love and forgiveness and understanding by their family members. But Ozai and Azula must want to change and can't be forced to and come to terms with their past and nation's history and atone for their crimes and abuse. It is possible that Ozai and Azula can redeem themselves but they will need a lot of help and a lot of love and face their bias greed, and hatred which is difficult and complicated soul searching. Zuko redemption would be child play compare to Azula, and baby food compared to Ozai but theirs would very interesting and complex. A eye opening storyline for Ozai and Azula forsure.
I only which the fandom would accepting of a well written one. Most people say Ozai and Azula are born EVIL SCUM OF THE EARTH AND SHOULD DIE A PAINFUL DEATH and yadda yadda yawn... Ozai and Azula are pretty typical is Medieval Asia culture such as Tokugawa Shogunate Japan, Yuan Dynasty of China and other Chinese dynasties, Mongal Empire and etc. Avatar is a Medevial Asian setting that is view in the len of modern westerns. Historically, Ozai is that bad of rulers or father as a leader during that era. It is our modern lens that make us see Ozai as a villain that he is.

Y'all! One thing that has been very much pushed to the side of this fandom in recent years is the topic of shipping. I really hope most people on here are in agreement with me, and if you aren't, I hope you'll read what I have to say.
I LOVE Joey and Lauren, right? Who doesn't?! They're both incredibly fun, talented, sweet individuals! A whole 'nother ball game is the fact that Richpez exists. Not just the ship name, or fanfiction. If you can't see that they've been together for a while, you might need to look again. I really don't want to invade their privacy or FOR GODS SAKE ask them about it, but we can be content with the SUPER sweet content we get from them, and we can also just be happy for what they have! (Sign up to TCB's patreon for a super sweet thing Joey said back in a livestream 😙).
With ships like Breredith, where they are already married, we still need to respect their privacy too! Everyone is different with how much they share about their relationships on social media, and I'm sure especially for people who have a largeish following from projects they've been involved with. They are no less human just because they have been public with their relationship. We don't have to talk to them about it! It's really none of our business as fans, but we have the absolute privelage of them sharing with us glimpses of their lives, and I think we should be super proud of them, no matter what they want to officially announce.
😙✌️

I’m slowly going to start integrating fandom back into my blog in the following week but this HAS become a BLM blog as well and anyone who has a problem with that can leave.
I was not on the BLM train from the start and I’m not afraid to admit it. I am sincerely sorry and there is nothing I can do to go back, but I can start making up for my years of missed activism for speaking up now. I am a POC who has been able to live a privelaged life thanks to being adopted into a white family. However just bc I have been more privelage than most, I’m no stranger to sufferring racism and discrimination. I was the only Indian/Asian kid in my elementary school and becajse of that and bc I was adopted I would get picked on and told to die by the time I was in 5th grade. Through all of this I was a passifist. I didn’t want to get involved because it wasn’t worth the effort, anger, or mental capacity.
But I now understand that silence is not the way to go anymore. There are more lives than just my own at stake now and silence equals complacency. So I will not be silent anymore. I’m still here for the fun and fandom so don’t worry, but I will not be silent and I will use my platform for more than just fandom. I might not have a huge number of followers but for the ones I can reach I’ll be happy.
