HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH + BAND OF BROTHERS:
JOSEPH "JOE" RAMIREZ
Born October 5th, 1921, in Nebraska
Died April 8th, 1988 (age 66), in Martinez, California
Joe Ramirez enlisted in September 1942 (age 20) in San Francisco, CA, and he trained with Easy Company at Toccoa. Holding the rank of Private, he served in Normandy, Holland, and Bastogne. He was hospitalized in January 1945, and discharged in July 1945. After the war, he was married for many years, and had children and grandchildren. When he passed away he was buried with his wife, who had passed away 11 years earlier. Further information about him is scarce, but the brief character profile in the Band of Brothers series bible describes him as Mexican-American, and his personality as "sensitive and nervous."
Appears in Episodes 1, 3-8, and 10; portrayed by actor Rene L. Moreno

A million thanks to @bleedingcoffee42 for tracking down this info for me!
#joe ramirez#joseph ramirez#band of brothers#rene l. moreno#mine: gifs#hispanic heritage month#latino heritage month#sources vary on whether he was a Private or PFC#they seem to have taken A LOT of creative liberties on the show bc#the only 2 anecdotes about him in BoB seem pretty diff from his character on-screen#not to mention that he would've been in the hospital during events of episodes 8 and 10 (each of which he's in several scenes)#on the other hand i do really like his character in the show and think he's one of the best and most underrated background characters#and why yes i am completely normal about him 😅#but also i'm sure he would've been great too if they'd made him more accurate to what limited info exists about the IRL guy#I forgot to save a few of the documents that bleedingcoffee42 sent me unfortunately but these are most of them!#but from one of them (his draft card?) i discovered he lived like 1.5 miles from my grandparents!!#(tho of course they moved there in the 50s so who knows if he was still living at same address by then... but still!)#oops i originally had the episodes he's in listed wrong on this#so AFAIK he's only NOT in eps 2 and 9#in ep 1 he's twirling a knife at the beginning and eating spaghetti next to Guarnere and Malarkey and playing basketball in England#in ep 6 he's eating the bean soup near the line when Sink arrives#in 7 he's sitting next to popeye and then in the church at the end (maybe in Foy but i'm not positive)#in ep 3 i thiiiink he's in Carentan next to Buck? and he's at the party in England sitting next to Lipton and listening to Gordon#in 4 he's in too many scenes to list here#in 8 he's in too many to list#in 10 he's hunting for food with the group and standing next to Grant's shooter when Speirs comes in the room

We were talking about how the Japanese audience views bkdk as canon and how the culture sees an "I love you" as much less verbal, or literal, and more symbolic and deep. And of course how bkdk has "the rest of our lives" from bakugou...
But also another one:
"I'm the one who steps in when he can't handle it on his own!"
A love confession if I have ever heard one.
Another thought on my brain while I am here, that post adds new context for me to the "rest of our lives" part and how the Bakugou parents, who were chasing their boy down and then apologized for the interruption, have retreated and are standing well outside in the hallway, heads down, respectfully letting their son confess those feelings and have that moment with Izuku.
They heard Katsuki saying that and decided, "oh. Oh, we should go."
#bakudeku#the bakugous are so real for letting their kid have that moment#more thoughts on that post from yesterday#bnha spoilers#bonus points to Bones if they expand that hospital scene and give more visual to when Mitsuki and Masaru decide that this is a private conv#like mistuki covering her mouth in realization#grabbing masaru ans pushing him out the door#that would be cute ngl

Would you draw my blorbo for me please?
#If you have time/energy/willing for that though. No pressure#Im sad and annoyed bc i couldn't get my blood tasted today#They only signed me up for an appointment in a month#And its already been so long since i try to figure out what is wrong with me bc my stomach doesn't work as it supposed to#I'm tired and hurt and all this is very discouraging#Mom tells me to go to the private lab to get my tests done faster but it costs money and we haven't been having much of those#She says that my health is more important and she's right but i just feel so bad and guilty for spending money on myself#When it is possible to get free medical treatment#But URGHHH the free one is sooo looong#And the problem is also that bc im an immigrant here i often don't understand how the system works here and i do mistakes#Like today I came to the hospital thinking i can get my blood tested right away with my doctors prescription in my hand#But no i only got it registered and got an appointment on 17 of December#Fucking urghhh#Im just tired and frustrated that's all#Anyway#Wanna draw buba for me? 👉👈🥺

juvie buddies
#alek art#td duncan#td mal#total drama#total drama all stars#(if i want to get technical)#2024#duncan is around 15 here... mal is around 16#ive thought really hard about them these past few days . in my brain they actually knew each other and canon is different#duncan and mike got along really well. in juvie mal refused to speak to anyone about anything and would fight as many people as he could .#he wanted to stay in there and far away from home . they get roomed together and duncan is the first person who mal can talk to . he isnt#scared of him . he relates to him a lot . like -> wow we both act out for attention and people think we are terrible because of it#duncan being a mentally ill teenager seeing mal an also very mentally ill teenager thought 'i can fix him' . mike and duncan speak too here#i cant really see anyone else fronting besides those two . their brain was on lockdown and mike wanted out so bad . i see manitoba as a#gatekeeper so hed handle some sessions with their psych. i want to say they (duncan and mike) get moved to a psyche ward just because#i have more knowledge on being in one and how it goes ... but yeah i like duncan mal a lot . this art isnt ship whatsoever though 🙏 i dont#see them as a couple their dynamic is just better as friends imo#but anyways in all stars they obviously recognize each other but have an unspoken agreement not to say anything abt it#duncan is a known criminal but mike isnt like that . mike hadnt even told zoey about that part of his life . so duncan wanted to respect his#privacy -> then mal starts hurting people and he has to step in . mal isnt a good person by any means but i dont think he was that bad in#juvie . so duncan had to come to terms that his friend wasnt the same person he was years ago (in all stars duncan is ~18 and i think mike#is almost 20... so it had been a while since they last talked)#them getting each other like no other and being in pain because they couldnt really speak . i see them having a conversation still in moon#madness abt their past and history . god i just think abt them and their wasted potential wdym mike and duncan were in juvie together#duncan was in for trespassing or destruction of private property or something really dumb . mal fought his parent(s) and got in for assault#mal was already in when duncan was placed . and duncan was let out early on good behavior + his parents (dad) mostly did it to teach him a#lesson . wrong of them or otherwise . so mal was just kinda stuck there until they realized he was actually not right in the head . think he#knew abt their DID but was only diagnosed in juvie and had to go from there . tbh he shouldve been tried as an adult but td logic . doesnt#matter dw guys . mike gets the 'was put on random meds that made him go braindead' treatment bc that was me . post mental hospital abilify#had me messed up

So my new medication and in fact all medications that can halt the symptoms of an attack of this condition are not subsidised in Australia by the PBS. Most have actually been discontinued in the Australian market due to low sales (my condition is rare so... yeah).
If I had a similar (but medically distinct and considerably less debilitating) condition these two injector pens would have cost me $14.99 thanks to the PBS. That's because these drugs are approved for this similar condition and not the one I actually have (which, as I noted above, has basically sweet FA drugs approved here let alone subsidised).
Outrageous medication prices are nothing new to my followers from the USA, where things are a hell of a lot worse than this but regardless of our locations, medication costs like this are fucking criminal.
Two injectors stops... two attacks. You can have 8+ attacks a day. 🙃
Chronic illness, huh?
I guess it's time to become a streamer or sell feet pics or something.
#personal#ugh i hate bringing up personal stuff like this#as i'm a private person and definitely don't want to just be venting about my health on a fun little weeb account#but it's so frustrating#i've been in hospital twice in a fortnight#and it fucking sucks#nobody knows anything about this condition or seems interested in studying it#i could lose my job or be unable to work full time#but of course i wouldn't be disabled enough to get financial support#truly can't seem to catch a break lately

so doug ford wants privatization of public hospitals now and is giving private hospitals special privileges to perform more types of surgeries and its going to majorly screw over every single canadian relying on public healthcare but also the decline to far right idiocracy in this country is happening at the speed of light, literally nobody remembers how the Conservatives bought out every public newspaper and media outlet when the piece of vile shit doug got voted in like Canada has always been the usa with rose tinted glasses and extra propaganda about how its Such A Nice Country
#canpoli#its insane you can vote online against hospital privatization but this situation means worse shit ahead for our healthcare

Hospitals owned by private equity firms riskier for patients, study says
"(CNN) - Health care is more hazardous for patients at hospitals purchased by private equity firms, financing models designed to make money for investors.
That conclusion comes from a new study published Tuesday in the journal Jama.
The study looked at the rates of 10 serious adverse events associated with medical care at 51 hospitals, before and after they were purchased by private equity firms.
Researchers then compared those results with the rates of the same complications at more than 250 hospitals that were not owned by those entities.
The study revealed that, in those private equity firm-purchased hospitals, there was a 25% increase in patient complications.
The rates of patient falls inside the facility, central line infections and surgical site infections all increased.
The study author said treating fewer patients eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid benefits is one trend the research found.
Previous research has shown cuts to staffing and replacing more highly paid workers with those paid less Is often tied to private equity firm acquisitions.
Those firms have been acquiring large chunks of the U.S. health care delivery system in recent years, including hospitals, nursing homes, behavioral health systems and private physician practices.
Earlier this month, the Senate Budget Committee announced its bipartisan investigation of the impact of private equity purchases on health care facilities.

It actually is so insane to me how many doctors do not fight for their patients/advocate for them because what do you mean I have faxed you 8 times now to get your patient a PA for a medication they really desperately need and you can’t take the time to do a little extra paperwork so they don’t have to pay 1.3k real life human dollars out of pocket. Brother are you actually satan himself because if so please walk yourself straight to hell
#riv rambles#and I would like to understand I really would#I know healthcare workers are overworked and half the time underpaid for what they deal with but seriously bro#the least you could do is pick up the phone#I called his office TWELVE times myself#I don’t even want to guess how many times the patient themselves called#and now tomorrow they’re gonna have to drive up there and confront the office in person because what else is she supposed to do#and honestly. I’ve had large hospitals respond faster than this tiny ass private practice so#I think it’s safe to say you are an asshole and I hope you get a terrible ear infection or something#and I hope ur antibiotics are not covered#by your insurance
