So my new medication and in fact all medications that can halt the symptoms of an attack of this condition are not subsidised in Australia by the PBS. Most have actually been discontinued in the Australian market due to low sales (my condition is rare so... yeah).
If I had a similar (but medically distinct and considerably less debilitating) condition these two injector pens would have cost me $14.99 thanks to the PBS. That's because these drugs are approved for this similar condition and not the one I actually have (which, as I noted above, has basically sweet FA drugs approved here let alone subsidised).
Outrageous medication prices are nothing new to my followers from the USA, where things are a hell of a lot worse than this but regardless of our locations, medication costs like this are fucking criminal.
Two injectors stops... two attacks. You can have 8+ attacks a day. 🙃
Chronic illness, huh?
I guess it's time to become a streamer or sell feet pics or something.

so doug ford wants privatization of public hospitals now and is giving private hospitals special privileges to perform more types of surgeries and its going to majorly screw over every single canadian relying on public healthcare but also the decline to far right idiocracy in this country is happening at the speed of light, literally nobody remembers how the Conservatives bought out every public newspaper and media outlet when the piece of vile shit doug got voted in like Canada has always been the usa with rose tinted glasses and extra propaganda about how its Such A Nice Country

Hospitals owned by private equity firms riskier for patients, study says
"(CNN) - Health care is more hazardous for patients at hospitals purchased by private equity firms, financing models designed to make money for investors.
That conclusion comes from a new study published Tuesday in the journal Jama.
The study looked at the rates of 10 serious adverse events associated with medical care at 51 hospitals, before and after they were purchased by private equity firms.
Researchers then compared those results with the rates of the same complications at more than 250 hospitals that were not owned by those entities.
The study revealed that, in those private equity firm-purchased hospitals, there was a 25% increase in patient complications.
The rates of patient falls inside the facility, central line infections and surgical site infections all increased.
The study author said treating fewer patients eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid benefits is one trend the research found.
Previous research has shown cuts to staffing and replacing more highly paid workers with those paid less Is often tied to private equity firm acquisitions.
Those firms have been acquiring large chunks of the U.S. health care delivery system in recent years, including hospitals, nursing homes, behavioral health systems and private physician practices.
Earlier this month, the Senate Budget Committee announced its bipartisan investigation of the impact of private equity purchases on health care facilities.

Man it is worth pointing out that the ACA is a living piece of legislation. Like every year updated protocols and guidelines release to the whole industry from CMS (gov oversight) and I educate professionals in my field on the changes each time. It was built intentionally to be an evolving and improving system that can handle more and more people each year. The ACA is not a stone tablet; it's an arm of federally protected benefits like Medicare that is inherited and maintained and built up by sequential administrations. It is WORKING, it's so reassuring to see it become so intertwined with our American health care model that an entire wing of the industry is now dedicated to the ACA.
Yeah, we want a better health care system, of course we do!! That's why so many people dedicate their careers to supporting the ACA!!! THIS is the fish crawling onto land that can eventually become a health care system that treats us with dignity. We just have to keep evolving it into a more equitable and accessible option. I vote with my head mostly tuned into future health care + research policies and it makes my goals much clearer. Biden has spent 2 separate administrations leading the Cancer Moonshot research funding initiative that has contributed significantly to the boom in cancer breakthroughs. Trump suggested we drink bleach for covid. I trust one significantly more than the other to continue funding ACA and NIH initiatives and interests 🤷

I always assumed it was free or just a symbolic price cause it's an university's hospital. but I just remembered US universities are private?? so, does that change things? like, does institutions linked to universities in the US cost the same as other institutions or are they cheaper/ free?

real talk though; if i could surgically remove the Bruce & Alfred scenes out of Gotham TV and make an entire separate Batman project out of them i would, because they're so distinctly different from the rest of the show and from the common Batman comic narratives, it floors me everytime. If we take the whole show as a body, the heart is placed in Bruce Wayne and it bleeds into his relationships with people, but most importantly with Alfred. It's such stark and exciting constrast to how Batman comics generally portray Bruce Wayne or the Batman persona; Gotham!Bruce is so tender and bare and transparent, heart beating and bleeding so close to his skin, you can see when it taints through his shirt, and his moments of absolute irrational sentimentality are not played cheap or like missteps in a planned protocol rational persona, they're utterly sincere and every emotion he expresses is as integral to his character as his moments of analytical calculation.

I just had a dream about spn s16 (spnwin s2???) and it was so good and they were like almost entirely leaning towards destiel even though Dean hasn’t been with Cas yet like he’s been searching for him (for apparently 90 years in heaven time now?) and there’s like a Jess cameo and another insane samjess-deancas parallel and they DID somehow become a part of THEE (spn-canon) Bible (like The Winchester gospel) so there were hints of Chuck won truthing in there and it was so so insane it got me sent to a mental hospital.
