Wayward Guide Crack Theory: Ryan Reynolds is Low-Key Psychic
Okay, yeah, this sounds ridiculous. But it's actually not that far out there? After all, Prism seems to be an absolute cash-grabbing hack, but her tarot cards nonetheless predict her death from a werewolf attack, establishing that Divination and psychic happenings are very much a part of Connor Creek's world. And Ryan... just seems to know things. He feels the most strongly of anyone that Miner Mole is up to no good, reads Artemis like a book and believes she's the person to help save Connor Creek, predicts his own death just like Prism's cards, and even pre-quotes exactly what Lesly is going to say about his story. (Yeah, okay, that last one is a repetition joke but why can't it be both that and a prediction??)
Ryan obviously doesn't consider himself psychic--he doubts himself when he talks about people trying to kill him--but he still picks up on a lot, including some things people would rather keep hidden. Maybe his powers aren't strong enough for him to know they're there, but impact his behavior and world-view all the same.
(The big hole in this theory is that Ryan doesn't seem to have picked up on the town's biggest secret--the existence of werewolves. But who's to really say he hadn't? Maybe part of the reason for reaching out to Artemis was to save them...)

Idk why but I love the moment where Prism's doing the tarot card thing and when she pulls out the death card, she reassures Paul that death can also mean rebirth. I just feel like too often we see fortune tellers going for the scary ominous route, but she's just trying to present all the options that the card brings

So Chapters 2 AND 3 are up for this fic. I posted Chapter 2 a few hours ago and Chapter 3 just went up.
Chapter 2 focuses on Prism, while Chapter 3 is about Dr. Henry’s alcoholism.

Note
all the members of shipwrecked.
you had to know this was coming.
Okay, buckle up, this is going to be long.
How many movies I’ve seen them in:
I’m never sure exactly how to define “movie”, so I’m going to count feature films, webseries, shorts...basically everything except stage shows and TV appearances.
Sarah: 10 (Emily Dickinson’s Guide to Spending the Holidays Alone, I Ship It, Poe Party, Case of the Gilded Lily, Sona, American Whoopee, Cryptmas Carol, Little VVomen, A Book by Its Cover, Wayward Guide)
Sinéad: 12 (A Tell Tale Vlog, Bertha’s Attic Song, Kissing in the Rain, I Ship It, Poe Party, Hermione Granger and the Quarter Life Crisis, Case of the Gilded Lily, American Whoopee, Cryptmas Carol, Little VVomen, A Book by Its Cover, Wayward Guide)
Sean: 12 (A Tell Tale Vlog, Kissing in the Rain, I Ship It, Poe Party, Case of the Gilded Lily, Personal Space [not sure if this is technically a TV appearance but I’m counting it anyway], American Whoopee, Cryptmas Carol, Little VVomen, A Book by Its Cover, Wayward Guide, Mank)
Mary Kate: 25 (Ridiculously Emo, Dark Woods, Prism, LBD, Squaresville, Kissing in the Rain, A Tell Tale Vlog [the birthday sketch counts, okay?], Bridge and Tunnel, I Ship It, The Sound and the Shadow, Hello My Name is Frank, Spore, Still Alive, Muzzled, Lullaby, Inside the Extras Studio, Poe Party, Case of the Gilded Lily, Movies Musicals & Me, American Whoopee, Cryptmas Carol, Little VVomen, A Book by Its Cover, Princess Rap Battle, Wayward Guide)
All four of them: 8 (I Ship It, Poe Party, Case of the Gilded Lily, American Whoopee, Cryptmas Carol, Little VVomen, A Book by Its Cover, Wayward Guide)
Yeah, so I still don’t know if all of those should count as “movies”, but I’m sure I’m forgetting other things that should definitely count, so close enough.
How I feel about their acting:
Um, they’re all FABULOUS. I could go on and on about each of them, but I’ll limit myself to a few words
Sarah: underappreciated comedic genius
Sinéad: award-worthy reaction faces
Sean: should play every leading man in everything ever
Mary Kate: disappears into her roles like none other
How I feel about them as a person:
I mean, they’re okay...JUST KIDDING, I LOVE THEM WITH ALL MY HEART. They are all so kind, so talented, so hard-working, so silly, I can’t handle it. Again, limiting myself to a few words
Sarah: literally the sweetest, most supportive and validating person
Sinéad: an inspiration to quirky introverts everywhere
Sean: has the most incredible sense of humor
Mary Kate: genuine, caring, delightful gem of a human
My favorite role they played:
Sarah: Wilhelmina Vanderjetski in The Case of the Gilded Lily - everything she does and says still makes me laugh
Sinéad: Jo in Little VVomen - Sinéad seems truly in her element here and it is thrilling to watch
Sean: Edgar Allan Poe in A Cryptmas Carol - the best Poe, perfect blend of spooky and sweet
Mary Kate: Annabel Lee in Poe Party - the only truly kind person at the party, she deserves better than what happens to her
My least favorite role they played:
Listen, it was hard enough to pick favorites, I refuse to slander any of their characters, all of whom I love, by calling them my least favorite.
(send me an actor and I’ll answer these questions)

A wayward guide mall au where all of the residents work at the "Connor Creek Mall" with Artemis and Paul supervising the building of a new store and getting to know the wacky employees of the mall. (Madison is Mall security, all the werewolves work part time at the Starbucks, and Truman is a Karen trying to get everybody fired)
Okay I love this so much!
- The store they're building is Connor Creek's *only* technology store. And everyone is super curious about it.
- The store is what Artemis considers to be Paul's greatest idea.
- I don't think all the werewolves would work at the same store- they wouldn't want to be seen together, just in case. And I don't think Desmond would run a Starbucks either.
- I do think, however, that Desmond would run a coffee shop. But he'd build it from the ground up.
- Obviously the gun stores can't exist. So my proposal: Olivia runs the Hot Topic, and Riley runs the Spencer's.
- Prism still does her whole psychic thing, but she also runs the essential oils/ gemstones shop.
- Mary Jo and Ellis run the floral business on the side. Their shop in the mall is like that one "convenience store" type shop with all the gossip magazines and puzzles and games and toys and snacks in it.
- Being there, they think they get all the hot gossip.
- It's a joke among the mall staff to drop absolutely ridiculous lies in there to see how long it takes for Mary Jo and Ellis to start spreading them.
- Sybilus would run his accounting firm in the mall.
- Donny actually works at the Starbucks, and has a poster up about all his favourite "off-the-menu" drinks and how to order them
- Ryan owns and runs said Starbucks and encourages Donny's creativity.
- Quinn owns the food court, adn insists on it not being a bunch of fast-food chains but instead "Tastes from Around the World"
- Rita runs the Build-A-Bear. She freaks out most of the parents though so it's not a popular attraction.
-The kids just think she's funny.
- Barney also runs his Hall of Oddities, frequented by kids
- Aubrey runs the bookstore.
- Silas and the Irons work at like The Gap or another big retail franchise.
- Ags is that one travel agent in every mall. She gets, like, no business but she's happy to be there
- She also doubles as the Information Desk at the Mall to give her something to do.
- Wallis and Garmin work as Mall Guides. It's a job that brings them a lot of joy
- Both Helen and Madison work on security
- And yes, Truman is absolutely a Karen hoping to fire everyone.
- Madison has to escort her out of the mall daily
- Jeremiah also tries to hand out flyers for his church every day
- Madison also has to escort him out a lot
- But the person she has to escort out most is Henry Edwards, who is still just the town drunk. Even though he is the Mall's dsignated medic.
- They're a pretty tight-knit community in the mall
- There's absolutely a secret code to get a "vendor discount" anywhere in the mall
- But they've all forgotten it. They know who works in the mall by heart now.
- Paul and Artemis are the first new people there in a while.
- But they're still welcomed heartily.
- Oh and Crispin Lynch and Odie Doty are just frequent customers.
- Like, they're there a lot. Everyone knows them.
- The mall vendors willl bring each other treats sometimes just because.
- Anyways it's a great place would 10/10 love to go there.

I forgot to make this post on Friday but here’s some thoughts on wayward guide and the werewolf roles:
Werewolves: Helen, Rita, Sybilus, Odie Doty, Olivia, and Truman (in the original game, for every 4 players after 15, you add an extra wolf so with the residents in Conner Creek that means there would be 6 wolves)
Seer: Prism
Doctor/Drunk: Dr. Henry
Minion(s): the Irons family and Silas (they’re all being used/manipulated by Truman)
Tanner: Crispin
Hunter: either Riley or Madison? Riley has The Vibes but Madison is currently the one with the silver bullet so...
Masons: The Walkers. Both are aware that the other isn’t a wolf but don’t really serve a purpose outside of that
Doppelgänger: okay I’ve seen NO ONE point this out but I’m pretty sure Paul is the doppelgänger (maybe Artie is too if the ‘both twins get turned’ theory ends up being true). The doppelgänger sees a card from the other team and switches to that team and Paul literally saw a card with a wolf on it right before getting turned???? (Also doppelgänger can be associatiated with the word twin)
I’m not sure who the robber, insomniac or troublemaker are yet but I feel like it’ll be clearer before the show ends. The rest of the characters are the villagers.
