Shen Jiu’s office is covered with things from him, and Shen Yuan is like ‘ah he never gets me things!’ And Shen Jiu is just like ‘everyone else does? Back off.’

I was thinking back on my time in high school and…

Did anyone else have a classmate that was obviously Rich and kinda spoiled, but that was So Nice to everyone? Had the mannerisms and vocabulary of a doted-upon heir but the accepting and excited eyes of a sheltered kid seeking friends and companionship? Not necessarily smiling all the time, but was always present and active when interacting with the others?

Shen Yuan. Vice Class President. Beloved by teachers and classmates alike. Always willing to lend you money, and he won’t even ask for it back. Wouldn’t, even if he remembered!

And then the classmate that was subtly bitter about everything and mostly brushed off everyone? Made kinda’ lame jokes but didn’t really seem to care much when no one laughed, cause they wanted the others to let them be? Conspicuously absent from extracurricular activities, really didn’t give much of a shit as long as they got by?

Airplane. Ends up labelled as the class rebel but he doesn’t do anything, so it’s kind of bewildering that that’s his legacy. He is very unaware of his own vibes.

The clearly smart kid who never studies and still gets perfect or almost-perfect marks on everything, but no one really knows anything about them because they’re so reticent? Dislikes attention if it comes from who they perceive to be looking down on them? Any sort of authority figure is, to them, an opponent they must best without letting them know they’re competing at all? Bratty as fuck?

Binghe. Depending on which one we’re talking about, they’re either stupidly popular and elicit jealousy from their peers or admired (and highkey feared) from afar. Is vying for Class President to impress Shen Yuan. They’re a duo! They need to be a united front!

(It would also be very funny to me if Bing-ge was a year older than Bing-mei but got held back a year. The fights? The seething jealousy? Shen Yuan sandwich? Superb.)

Mobei-Jun is the silent, kind of out-of-his-depth but solemn kid everyone gravitates around and it’s astounding to him that these people are so invested in his opinion. Leave him alone. He does not want to bear witness to any of your pathetic attempts at flattering him! It’s so clearly fake. Very pretentious and doesn’t even realise it. Parents are Stupid Wealthy.

The class president is obviously Yue Qingyuan. Luo Binghe will win, though. It’s just a matter of time.

Liu Qingge is on some sports team, probably captain. Luo Binghe will win against him, too.

(Shen Yuan once mentioned that Liu Qingge’s muscles are very manly and now it’s on sight. This is the only thing the Luo brothers agree on. Neither are happy about it.)

God. Imagine them on a school trip. The poor chaperones.

The fascination to make the likes of Shen Jiu, Jiang Cheng, and Mu Qing everything they aren't while claiming to understand everything about their character will forever amaze me. No, you don't actually understand them as they are, especially because what's wanted is your own sense of redemption and what they deserve as way of a reward for their realizations.

Yet their acceptance of their horrid behaviors is their redemption. The bare minimum of acknowledging the cruelty they inflicted and put on to others as well is it. You do not get rewarded, nor should expect to be, for that realization that you have deliberately let others be hurt because of your own jealousy and hate. Realizing is just one part of betterment. The only one that does actively try to make amends and shows some sort of understanding to maintain an actual semblance of friendship that is now with boundaries and understanding of expectations from that, is Mu Qing. He is the only one that reaches out with his apologies to say he wants Xie Lian as a friend despite his jealousy and behavior of the past.

Shen Jiu and Jiang Cheng have no such regrets since their cynicism and self-absorption stays the principal feeling of their regrets. It is not for the sympathy and regret for what others did for them that they're upset, it's the way they know they have no right to disregard the selflessness that Wei Wuxian and Yue Qingyuan showed for them. The reality of having squandered and belittled that because of their own hate, self grandeur, and egoism convinced them it was appropriate and reasonable. Only one amongst these three did have the maturity to admit and willingly want to place the effort into maintaining the friendship he still wanted when saying he was actively wrong and jealous of who Xie Lian was. Shen Jiu still was forever bitter about Yue Qingyuan while also not wanting to think that perhaps Yue Qingyuan was suffering as well. Jiang Cheng still spoke in terms of debts and repayment as if Wei Wuxian was settling to buy off his own life to freedom. They did not want to actively change because they didn't see anything wrong in their own selves.

That is where at least Mu Qing has the opening to do and be better, to be a friend finally to Xie Lian. Redemption isn't meant to be satisfying for anyone but the one who seeks it in their own way. Sometimes it's also disappointing as an outside party that they don't want to change for the better with that realization of identity and still are hateful to the core.

Shen Jiu gives all the misbehaving children called security papercuts and then forces them to run laps. The security team listens like they are students again, not people who have been hired to stop intruders from UA campus grounds.

Let's be real, Nedzu had no grand plan. Even he's intimidated by Shen Jiu. All his prey instincts are activated by Shen Jiu's presence. Nothing the principal says can stop Shen Jiu from doing what he wants. Besides, Shen Jiu and Nedzu are probably equals in intellect/manipulation, the latter by quirk, the former by experience (and survival of the fittest).

Modern AU SJ Xiao Jiu being adopted by an ex pornstar and spoiled absolutely rotten. Yue Qi tries to be his support when classmates bully him about it, but many times he just smiles and tells Xiao Jiu to be nice, as if the others didn't physically attack him previously. Rich kid LQG starts to get on the bully Xiao Jiu train, with his lackeys QQQ and MQF. WQW doesn't normally take part, the narcoleptic child hardly awake to function. When it gets so serious that parents are called and SJ's mom is publicly mocked and sneered at for her old job, Xiao Jiu wastes no time in throwing evidence of the principals affair with one of the parents, a perverse teacher that made advances at the other students and his withdrawal papers, that he stole from the principals office. The school is under fire when news outlets spread the story, while Xiao Jiu and his mom and new stepdad move out of the country to have a normal and healthy life. Years pass and they return to their homeland, only to see LQG is the next in line for the Liu Company. YQY was the bastard son of the Yue's CEO and recently brought in to live with the family. The old school had closed down after heavy investigation on the child abuse. Crimelord TLJ even helped track down and capture. Little does SJ know, TLJ's twin sons and adopted son are avid supporters of his!

A scramble of many suitors vying for the beautiful musicians hand. YQY tries to appeal to their old childhood friendship, which is immediately shut down by SJ’s clingy little brother SY. SY was there during SJ’s loneliest times and will NOT let some two-bit spineless fool try to court his brother. Not will he allow a stalker, a harasser, someone who’s mouth works faster than her brain, or some creepy twins prey on his big brother!! With his privilege of baby brother, SY shamelessly sets up distances between the men and SJ.

The Luo twins are shameless in their pursuit of their ethereal music teacher. Admiring the way SJ plays for them and their family to show them what a performance would look like.

MoBei Jun sits in during classes to learn as well. Enjoying the soft and warm hands of SJ’s on his when he can’t get a finger movement down. He does have to fight off a murderous fight from the twins when they are no longer in class.

Just a couple of simps fighting for SJs attention and either cockblocking themselves or getting cockblocked by a middle school aged SY who refuses to allow some rats to steal his brother away!! YQY may be tenacious in his oblivious pursuit, but SY is vicious in his defense. LQG cockblocks himself because SJ never forget his physical bullying and constant stalking.

(I adore the idea of Shen Sibs where SY is a clingy baby brother. Willing to fight a grown man and a bear for his brothers honor).

Modern AU in which Shen Jiu is Shen Yuan's long lost brother. Shen Yuan is from a rich household, and one day his parents bring him to a police station.

SY: Why are we at the police station?

Mother: To pick up your brother

SY: ...I have a brother? And why the police station?

Father: Arson.

SJ is still a slave, he still got bought by the Qiu, he still burned down their mansion and yes also murdered. The only reason he managed to get away with this after being caught is because his family (who recognized him because *que perfectly logical reasoning*) is rich as fuck and also the Qius were shady anyways bc slavery is illegal now. Anyways before his family found him SJ had became the vice principal (is that a thing? I've completely forgotten if that's a thing) of Cang Qiong, which is like, the most prestigious school or something, and is basically living fine before his past crimes got found out, where his blood family helps him. And since he's terrified of kindness he follows their every whim and yadda yadda. His relationship with SY is rocky at first but then Bonding For Plot Convenience ensues because Shen Twins. Also SJ is the younger sibling because I said so.

yue Qingyuan is the type of kid to unironically have a shrine dedicated to the “evil head master” (as the other students have nicknamed sj), he's constantly making flower bouquets and trying to give them to sj but sj just does not care unless its from sy so yqy is heartbroken almost everyday but has hope! (He really shouldn't), he likes to do any work given by sj and likes to do calligraphy, he's the first one with a pen license, he also has type 1 diabetes (the genetical kind) so has to take insulin at set times, he finds this sorta embarrassing though so only teachers know about it, not like the others kids would u derstand nor care outside of maybe the nicer ones being more aware (my take on how to implement something that effects his life long term, appears in children and although greatly effects ones life, isn't something that gets you hospitalised (usually), can occasionally be overlooked or if well managed not noticed unless you know of it and not always properly understood in how it can affect someone, as reference to xuan su's (his swords) influence on his life)

Liu qingge is randomly attacking strangers via biting and baby punches and tried to attack a bird once and failed miserably, despite his immediate response to attack first think later, the think later seems present in his usual day to day as he spends anytime not attacking (which is as time goes on seemingly less, a sign he's getting along with his classmates, well done lqg!) just staring off into nothing whilst his 18 month old baby sister is kept on one of those baby leashes as she keeps making googly eyes at the two teachers whenever they're together (she knows), also lqg's favorite hobby is fighting Luo binghe and stealing insects from mu qingfan to give to shen yuan

Shang qinghua is playing with a Rubik’s cube as this random private school rich kid keeps breaking into the school to seemingly mess with him?? Sy isnt all that worried about sqh as it’s clearly a crush this rich kid has though he does wish this kid could express it better but sy is in fact very concerned on how this 6-7 year old kid keeps on breaking into an elementary school (this is mbj if you couldn’t tell lmao)

Mu qingfan is collecting insects, bugs, fish, frogs, birds?, a snake?! "MQF PUT THAT SNAKE DOWN"- shen yuan on a Monday at 8 am, mqf also likes to read and seems to keep feeding random plants to the small animals to see what happens (these aren't so random he's reading about different medical drugs and testing out different concoctions on unassuming critters, many have suffered when will this child let them free) and he's secretly plotting to end lqg for stealing his victi- COUGH COUGH- Friends

Qi qingqi is running a girls club and has attempted to break into headmaster shen jiu’s office many, many, many times - sj will never admit to being almost impressed by her dedication, she also keeps selling girls magazines for £5 to the other kids, sy is slowly losing it, sj, again, will never admit that its kinda hot seeing the usually unbothered sy so confused and so disheveled

Wei qingwei is playing with anything he can play pretend or create things with; action figures, doll houses, construction toys and his favorite legos, and his other favorite the all mighty plastic sword given to him by his never seen by any one but wqw, wqw's father, he also keeps using it to aggravate Liu qingge and then runs crying to mu qingfan who gives him a blank stare and a very good for a child but he's still a child so quite obviously a fake smile at which wqw cries for real

Luo binghe is playing with the fake kitchens and brings in food he and his mum made at home to which is a literal luxery for anyone but him or shen yuan to eat, the only ones lucky enough to have tried it so far have been Wei qingwei as a means to get Liu qingge to leave him alone while sy plays with him and Sqh to get his weird boyfriend to stop breaking in as its stressing sy out, this fails and Luo binghe swore to never feed Sqh his and his mother's food ever again

Shen yuan is slowly losing his mind as how adorable they are and sweethearts they are to him, they are also so very much children who are very much as strange as children are in a way sy continuously seems to spontaneously forget (compartmentalizing) only to be shocked when he sees the chaos, he reads shitty novels on his phone during any break he can get

Shen jiu finds all the children to be annoying little nightmares who steal his husbands time (even though that's literally their job to care for the kids) he tends to spend his time on random puzzle games on his phone such as candy crush, Sudoku etc, his favorite time though is when he and sy can go walking home together and watch more of sy's shitty tv shows whilst snuggled on the couch when they get home that his sister got home into years ago, yet another thing sj will never admit out loud, for sj actions shout so much louder then words

Even though Shen Jiu doesn’t know how to drive a car, he does go get a helicopter license/permit/whatever it’s called. Along with a pilot license.

He also knows how to sail a ship, sail sailboats, and ride an electric scooter.

He just refuses, on principal, to drive a car.

There’s just too many stupid people on the roads. He doesn’t deal with stupid people. He absolutely refuses to. The driver of the car can handle all the road rage of dealing with drivers who think driver rules are suggestions, not law.

Brocon AU does Shen Jiu know how to drive or does he need Shen Yu to drive him everywhere? Does he take public transportation?

Shen Jiu does not know how to drive. He does have a chauffeur and he can call up uber (or the Chinese equivalent).

The closest he gets to public transportation is a plane (that isn't a private jet). Does that count?
