1, Day of the Little Candles

The first day of #encantovember2024 , I decided to go for Mirabel as she is the miracle of the family which she was determined to prove herself to be more than a magical gift that she didn’t gave because she was destined for greatness.

I remember when I first done Day of the Little Candles back in 2022 two years ago where everyone would celebrate the day by wearing white clothes with golden butterflies detailing as resembling the movie we all love. Hope you guys did the same for this day of EncantoVember 2024

I want to made Mirabel a princess dress that represents her fifth birthday ceremony, the golden butterfly migration and the kingdom of Rosas

These are the dresses that I could find that are perfect…

3 & 4) I don’t know who arts belong to as they don’t usually show it on Google…

5) the gold dress will show the artist at the bottom corner as I can’t read so small

I also think that she might need like some-sort of train/trail/cape looking behind her back as well.

Like Elsa’s, Anna’s or even Queen Amaya’s but that looked like butterfly wings…

Disney hero/villain tropes and personalities I'd like them to revisit or try for the first time.

An optimistic male lead. Pessimistic leads are a dime a dozen, so having someone who's more innocent and sees the world in a positive light would be awesome.

2. A male hero/female villain dynamic. Male villains are more common than female in Disney canon (though the female villains have better odds of being iconic), and usually when we have a female villain, we have a female hero. It'd be neat having a male protagonist and a female antagonist.

3. A villain who's kinda right, or has selfless or selfless-adjacent (ie not "I'm doing this just for me," but "I'm doing this for someone I care about--and maybe me too") intentions and bad methods. I feel like Disney has done this trope before (or at least tried), but I'd love them to do this more; a complex villain who CHALLENGES the protagonist to grow as a person, whether they're doing "I'm selfish but now I understand how it hurts others" or "I thought I was doing everything right but now I see the situation isn't so black and white."

4. A forgotten/fallen hero as the villain. I like the idea of someone who was originally a typical Disney protagonist, only to get to a situation where they gave in to their fear, hope, despair, grief, etc. I remember the 2015 remake of Cinderella doing a really good parallel to how both Cinderella and the Tremaines had suffered grief, but while it embittered the Tremaines, Cinderella held strong, making them resent her further (particularly Lady Tremaine).

5. A shy Disney protagonist. Most Disney protagonists are pretty outgoing and/or social, so having someone who isn't the best at socializing would be a cool Disney lead--plus if it was a musical, the singing could either all be done from the protagonist and co's minds rather than out loud, or the protagonist only sings when they think they're alone. Perhaps they eventually gain the confidence to sing publicly.

6. A hero and villain romance. This may not be something that you wanna have with a film that caters to a younger audience (glamorizing abusive relationships and such), but if done correctly, I like the idea of a villain redemption and subsequent falling in love with the protagonist. As such, they'd probably have to be a secondary villain in order to keep their crime/kill count low. It's a controversial idea, but I do like the enemies to lovers trope (note: ENEMIES to lovers, not two people who pester, annoy or argue with each other then fall in lover over time; not a fan of that).

EncantoVember 2024

I promise that November will be called as EncantoVember 2024 by your host, Sasha Florence! To be honest, I don't know how to do this but l'd love to give this challenge a try if I may not going to do it everyday. I'll pick which days I'll in and you guys might do the same thing too.

This challenge is for fun, not for winning; Unless you want a prize from me which might be an art request.

This challenge will be started in the beginning of November till the end of the month. Any questions, please tell me! And most of all have fun!

A List of Disney Characters I Will Always Defend

Anna: The way a lot of you come after her and nitpick her behavior pisses me off, especially because so many of you refuse to acknowledge she’s traumatized. Because through the perspective that she was traumatized, a lot of her behavior makes a lot of sense.

The Madrigals: All of them. Every single one. Even Abuela. This isn’t to say I will defend all of their behavior, because they all caused each other trauma- that’s the whole point of the movie. However, acknowledging that it was trauma that caused the pain, and that none of them are actually “villains” is something I wished more people did.

Aladdin: Well, against some criticisms. Not all. Again, I am not going to sit here and defend everything he did. The lying and trying to trick a princess into marrying him is fucked up, but alot of critiques of him are just… classist? “I can’t believe Jasmine married a low-life thief!” He was literally stealing to survive, which was explicitly stated in the film, in the same way Jasmine stole an apple to feed starving children.

Cinderella: Well all of the classic princesses, but mostly Cinderella, because the amount of victim blaming I have seen towards her is disgusting. She wasn’t “too weak” to defend herself. She was in an abusive situation, had no money to leave or anywhere to go.

Asha: Asha was right, you guys are just too attracted to Magnifico to realize what he was doing was bad. Every ounce of hatred of this character has completely misrepresented the events of the film or have just been extremely nitpicky.

Ariel: For the last time, she never exchanged her voice for a man, she exchanged her voice to explore land- something she always wanted to do.

Not saying all Disney Princesses should have the same personality, but I can’t help but have an itching feeling that a lot of the pushback against “quirky” and “adorkable” princesses is rooted in at least some form of misogyny. I mean, what? Girls can’t be socially awkward? Is that what you’re saying?
