It's an inevitability of the way the story's written, unfortunately, but I'd argue that most of them have more to do in Super than they do in most of Z. Anime version of ToP at least let Krillin and Tien do SOMETHING instead of punking them immediately, which I will never forgive the manga for. Roshi and the android twins have shining moments in ToP in both versions. EVERYONE contributes at least something during Moro. The only notable exceptions I think are Bulma, who as mentioned before has never stopped being relevant, Videl, who regrettably does nothing during Super, and Krillin, who was pivotal in Saiyan saga and did important things during Namek and Cell, which is more than anything he does in Super (so far. He's a little more present in this latest manga arc, but the focus is more on Goten and Trunks, and I assume it's going to shift over to Gohan and Piccolo and Pan as we retell Super Hero).

In contrast, most of the Earthlings die during Saiyan saga, spend all of Namek doing fuck all on King Kai's planet, get curbstomped by the androids, after which they do nothing but spectate Cell or take Ls from the Cell Jrs.* They're essentially not even a factor during Buu. Such is Dragon Ball, playing its favorites.

*Except Tien, shoutout to Tien deciding FUCK Semiperfect Cell, even if his efforts were for naught in the end.

Fun Dragon Ball headcanons

Goku and Vegeta are experienced with video games because of their sons. They even sometimes play them together. Goku's favorite is Sonic the Hedgehog and Vegeta's Mortal Kombat. Vegeta is usually the victor in their matches.

Bulma makes up to Vegeta by letting him give Bulla a middle name. He picks Eschalot of course. He chooses this name after a famous Saiyan princess. Princess Eschalot was known as the ideal Saiyan princess: strong, intelligent, brave, beautiful, and a fierce warrior. She refused to marry and decreed that she only would if the suitor beat her in combat. Not only did she defeat each and every one, she even killed them.

The gang sometimes go to Yamcha's baseball games. The kids even have his baseball cards.

Piccolo's favorite water is from watermelons. Dende's is coconut.

Trunks and Bulla are grossed out when they learn their mother and Uncle Yamcha used to date.

Goku sometimes stops by Tien's school to observe or participate in lessons.

Goku and Chichi planted their own apple tree in their backyard shortly after they married. It's still there all these years later.

Vegeta is very approving towards Mai as a match for Trunks, especially since finding out she was an assassin.

Goku likes to bring Chichi souvenirs from his adventures. They could be a stone from a foreign planet, a seashell from the ocean, or a flower from the mountains.

Vegeta is a secret Taylor Swift fan. He listens to her music when he's training or thinking by himself.

The children like Broly and love to play with him.

Goku can be a jealous husband in a subtle way. If he notices a man checking Chichi out or trying to flirt with her, he will hold her hand and refer to her as his wife or use endearing names towards her.

As far as the public is concerned, Vegeta's a cryptid. Everyone knows his name and recognize him as Bulma Briefs' husband, but that's about it. Nobody knows who exactly he is, where he came from, or how he and Bulma met and got together. It's even more difficult since journalists are too scared of him to approach him for an interview.

Since he can remember, Goku has had dreams where he is floating in a yellow void, surrounded by large shadows of people and muffled voices. Most of the time, he sees and hears a small and friendly woman, a large man with a deep voice, or a short child who likes to knock on glass. Goku doesn't realize until many years later that these are memories of his time in his incubator and the people he was seeing/hearing were his parents and young Raditz.

"Hungry like a Saiyan" or "eat like a Saiyan" are common metaphors among certain alien races.

Krillin stays in touch with his Buddhist roots. He visits temples, even his old temple where he was raised. He sometimes brings 18 and Marron with him.

While it's not shown, Launch does stay in touch with everyone.

Chichi speaks fluent Cantonese and Mandarin. She personally teaches Gohan and Goten from a young age. Goku has even picked up some terms here and there. When she’s angry enough, Chichi will curse in either language.

This is Chichi Aladora - the half elf druid alternate universe version of another Chichi. I was a co-DM for this campaign, but wanted to play so I was allowed to shift in.

In this universe, Chichi lives with her father (an elf), and is the princess to her kingdom. Humans were prohibited from entering their kingdom after allegedly humans killed Chichi's mother (human). It wasn't until the heroes of this campaign snuck their way in and were assisted by Chichi that they were able to get a job done and leave safely - in which Chichi joins them officially. The horse was her animal companion (sadly I forgot his name, it has been a long time).

anon dearie ilysm i'm sorry it's been 2 whole months </3 i immediately began typing this post out as soon as i received it, but then not only did i forget to finish it, but practically all of the headcanons i wrote had to be trashed because they related to cheated's role but he is no longer a pirate!!! buddy got his costume changed and i am not telling you what it is ♡♡

but yes yes i have a couple headcanons! in no particular order:

01. my cheated has a tail for Reasons™ and it is a great source of misfortune of him. he already has a lousy poker face, but even if he manages to keep it together, anyone can easily intuit how he's feeling from its swaying or thumping. not to mention how often people step on it (most accidentally, cold and opportunist not accidentally)

02. my voice's "true" form are mirror shards while their physical bodies are something akin to homuculi/puppets. if harmed beyond a certain threshold then the affected body part will shatter completely rather than simply bleed out. normally, if the shard is healthy, then reverting back to shard form will reverse the injury, but cheated's shard is so ridiculously pure that shattered parts will mend on their own! even when he fully shatters, which is relatively easy for him to do, it only takes a half-hour to recover, as opposed to the days or weeks that others may need.

this is also a great source of misfortune for him ♡ according to razor this makes him the perfect little pin-cushion. the glass shattering makes such a pretty, addictive noise and then woo he's right back to do it again. sure, it's fun to battle stubborn, but it takes him forever to shatter, and then the cooldown can take a month. scam! rip-off! her own little guy is the way better deal!

03. speaking of glass shards: cheated and flinching are brother and sister! all of the voices came from the same mirror, but cheated's shard cracked twice, first forming him and then flinching. while the demo voices remained dormant throughout the game, most of cheated's personality is unconsciously founded in complementing and protecting his sister. whereas flinching would hesitate to shoot a gun, cheated would snatch it from her grasp to fire immediately -- and then she watches in horror as the bullet ricochets off a pipe and hits him square in the knee. chichi twins ♡♡

04. cheated is a stiff in that he doesn't drink or smoke (his suffering will be done raw, thank you), but he absolutely adores gambling. he will swear up and down that he can stop at any time, and he doesn't even like it that much, yet he'll make a beeline for the nearest slot machine and have to be wrestled out of the chair. please, he can't just leave now, he's already sunk so much money into this, please just one more pull--

05. contrary to his appearance (and princess), cheated likes cute things! he's a bit shy about expressing his interest in coquette stuff like ribbons and makeup, but he's very open about caring for the innocent and helpless. the type to leave food out for strays and tries (keyword: tries) not to swear infront of kids. would love for him to team up with damsel for game night.

(kills me that he wouldn't want to wear "girl stuff" since he thinks the other voices pull it off better. everytime i draw cheated i think he would make for such a beautiful woman. i need opportunist to invite him to a drag bar and change his life.)

since it's tangentially connected, i'm ending this off with my favorite headcanon: cheated adores sharks and sleeps with a big shark plush he won at a carnival, whom he has named cap'n crunch ♡

Reasons why I think Dragonbal Z was actually super progressive for its time - Part 3!

The married Saiyans are all trophy husband's before trophy husbands were a thing.

Goku married Chichi, daughter of the Ox King, and presumably this makes her a princess. I could see the situation being that she gave up her status to be with a man she loved, but essentially, Goku married into royalty and that definitely makes him a trophy husband in my opinion.

Gohan is the epitome of a trophy husband. He married the daughter of the most famous man in the world. Someone who is very familiar with paps, who grew up in luxury and wealth. And he's tall, dark and handsome. He didn't even need to be as smart as he is, but I could definitely see the tabloid stories around the courtship and marriage of these two.

Vegeta is the only one arguably not a trophy husband as he himself is royalty. But he's royalty of a different planet who's customs aren't recognised on earth, so I feel it appropriate to include him anyway. He married the smartest, richest woman on planet earth. His standard of living probably didn't change much to when he was a prince on Planet Vegeta, but now that standard is because his wife is a scientist/heiress. I think he's 100% a trophy husband.

After reuniting with Goku's friends, she would begin to greet each of the most well-known people that she remembered as a child, those she had met through encounters and those she had not, she simply greeted them out of mere courtesy; as a dedicated and educated woman that she was her. Her ear had managed to hear a well-known female voice, her gaze recognized her instantly, and the same as the others, she was glad to see her.

ㅤ ㅤ   ❛ Bulma-san!?, It's you?  ❜     expresses curiosity and doubt at her astonishment, a slight beaming smile tugging at the corners of her lips.

ㅤ ㅤ   ❛ Wow, you haven't changed a thing. After so long without seeing you, you still have those terrible wrinkles. ❜     She laughed when she noticed it, she has that attitude of feeling like a very young woman with great clamor, should it be obvious? Being more unequal with her attitude than with hers, thinking about it caused him a few laughs from which he kept her discretion.
