Okay i have a question.

So i finished Primordium (it WAS Tim Dadabo!!! He’s just such a chameleon :O ), and it was really long and stuff, then suddenly it went insane. I think i just don’t understand Bear’s writing style; he explains what characters experience, but doesn’t concisely explain what happens to them.

So i ask this… What Instal-lation HAPPED to Chakas…???!? He was composed twice??? At one point he was part of a proto-Gravemind or some other Floods, or??!? I am DROWNING here 😭

"It was really long ... then suddenly went insane " is the best description for that book. Part of the reason I love it. I think the reason it is hard to understand is it's being told from the perspective of the character it is happening to so we only know what they know, if that makes sense

So Chakas, Riser, and friends were eventually lured in by the primordial and Mendicant Bias. Mendicant Bias seperated the old spirits from them (Forthencho and Yprin) and convinced the old spirits that they had a common enemy,the forerunners. Chakas didn't trust them but didn't have much choice, join them or die. Their first task was to save the halo ring installation 07 from crashing into the red wolf planet. Mendicant Bias and Primordial had Chakas merge with some infected forerunners so they could together control the halo so the planet could pass between the hoop. Eventually Bornstellar came and helped them finish the job then decommissioned Mendicant Bias (Bornstellar used UrDidact's imprint memory to do so). Thats when he found Chakas was too injured to survive so they composed him. They also killed the primordial.
