September: Bond Films

Casino Royale (2006) / Eva Green as Vesper Lynd

Continuing with the five primary modes of Bond Girl chic, the third item on the list is evening wear. We've already had a taste of that with Sylvia Trench. Vesper Lynd's backless purple gown from Casino Royale is perhaps the most iconic evening dress of the Daniel Craig era. The plunging neckline and gathered material in the bodice make me think of Marilyn Monroe's famous gold dress, while the long lines echo the 1930s by way of the 1970s. The sparkly edging to the neck is meant to be attention-grabbing, and it is. The dress is finished with a matching wrap and clutch purse.

Like many dresses that appear deep purple onscreen, it appears considerably lighter and closer to raspberry-pink when seen offscreen. Compare this dress for another example of the same phenomenon.

sure i COULD ramble about how ai is one of the multiple things that check all the marks of humanity's seven deadly sins but would that be extreme

Also to not take time to develop skill #the greed its being used for profit without consideration for ethics or fair labour #gluttony. we always have to be faster. shinier. better. no matter if it ends up being less convenient or wonky #the wrath it sows in between people creating more differences to be frustrated over. more hatred #the envy how it takes and takes. always trying to be as clever as the best humans. as beautiful as a real forest or sunset.#do you think the ai wants itself #if this were a scifi movie would we be the bad guys #but this is not a movie and the ai cannot love us. so we cannot love it. and there's that #my post #personal stuff #thinking aloud just silly yapping n jazz 没啥事做就这样咯~#(��▽￣)~*#when i was in primary school our textbooks for chinese had short stories and articles to learn about #there was a fictional scifi oneshot about a family in the future going to the zoo #the scifi zoo trip was going great until the zoo's systems went offline for a moment #and it was revealed that all the animals roaming in their enclosures were holograms #the real ones went extinct ages ago #when the computers came back online the holograms returned and there they were #honestly at first I thought it was a bit exaggerating #but I still think about it once in a while

looking back at ye olde combo book fandom i can only describe the feeling as feeling like if Superwholock got a divorce

#this is EXTREMELY specific but like. if you were there you remember #that like very specific 2010-2014ish era of book fandoms where everybody used the same filter on edits and there were all the movies #and adaptations and everybody was excited #and so a bunch of book fandoms formed the superwholock of book fandoms (there were like 4 primary ones but it could get up to like ~6 #sometimes more but if it went over 6 it was usually just kind of general multifandom book fandom rather than this specifically #and while it didnt have a name it had a symbol. if you have been in general fandom long enough you *know* the symbol #or the symbol variants #cause there was this little period in book fandom where everybody LOOOOVED having a symbol for their series #it was a lil bit of a general fandom thing too but for book fandoms in particular it was like a THING #my deepest condolences to anybody who got a tattoo of the combo symbol #i can do a lil history post on this later but im just. ahhh those sure were Times

NO! he didn't even try!#my dad's first question was if dr. [redacted] tried to talk me out of testosterone and i was like shit... no he didn't!!#and i felt like a normal person seeing the doctor albeit with a lot of anxiety but i was treated normally :)#it feels SO nice after feeling like a lab rat or like in the movies where a psychiatrist comes out to explain what transsexuality #explain what transsexuality is*

October: Silver Redux

Tomorrow Never Dies / Michelle Yeoh as Wai Lin

It is unfortunately difficult to get a good look at this sleek evening dress, between the lighting and the crush of people in the scene. The only back view is an out-of-focus shot of her in the background as Bond walks by. The design is a simple sheath with a suggestion of waistline, allowing the rippling of the fabric to be the main focus. The only bit of decoration is the beaded halter collar.
