Primal (Expanded?) Palkia WIP, headshot.

It was supposed to be a few temporary lines. Then temporary flats then shade... Colour might be redone, but I'm liking how most of the draft is looking so far. Feedback and comments would greatly be appreciated!

I feel like Palkia incorporating more curls in its design makes sense to balance the straight and amorphous lines of Dialga and Giratina, respectively. So to mirror Origin Giratina's gundam mask, I gave Palks two boar like tusk (they're meant to unfold too but I forgor when drawing the open mouth), with the original upper fangs hidden in this angle. To make the dorsal sail stand out more, I gave them a curved negative space (ehhehe) to make the silhouette more distinctive. The sail extends past the muzzle into a pompadour like horn that curves upwards and behind, to mirror Dialga's backwards facing crest and Giratina's sidewards crests. The lower jaw is now closer to Giratina's altered form's, but more balloned out. If I could make Palkia a psychic type and not water, I would. Yet, I also like the general shape here being like a gorging whale or tuna fish. The lateral pink pattern was going to be pointed as per the Game Freaks Palkia, but I found the... uhhh... " > " converged lines to be more interesting. As they are in this illustration, it mearly looks like an extension of the jaw, so I probably need to expand the negative space there more. As I said before, the colour is just temporary for now, and any further feedback would be greatly appreciated!

every time i remember "ingo is an ascian/ancient who literally forgot everything about that" it still kills me. so much staying power in the idea of the protagonists rocking up to ishgard having the worst day of their lives and there's a fucking ASCIAN just chilling waiting for them and they're like fucking dammit now we have to deal with THIS. and then he's not. like he's literally just chilling. he is so very much just some guy. and they're like why the fuck are you dressed like an evil wizard then and he's like they're comfy robes :(

from Pokemon Journeys episode 89-90 but with my redesign for Primal Dialga vs Palkia

Based on an idea my friend gave me in my discord server discord.gg/pQf9ZsdF6E about what the hell happened to Giratina and Palkia in that future Timeline where it kinda seems like Dialga had lost sanity for maybe a couple years, and why they never showed up at all or anything to try and save Dialga, and the idea was that maybe Dialga put them both into stasis and trapped them sorta in each of their own dimensions or something

So this is like, right before then with Palkia being the first to end up in stasis after a serious fight between them with Palkia as the underdog throughout the fight, counterattacking while getting beat up as a sorta last-ditch effort to save his brother-

And yeah- with Dialga in Primal form he's slightly a bit stronger than Palkia, since he's less predictable when fighting while only fighting cuz of his instincts telling him to/his self-preservation being way stronger while in this "form" and I wanted to maybe show that?

And yeah- really proud of how this came out, and totally may or may not have had way too much fun with the effects and coloring lol

It's pretty safe to say for pokemon, the shift for any kind of lore or questions is gonna get answered from the Legends games. Since PL:A no thanks to PL: Z-A being revealed, this might get me back into the series since I hard passed S/V, it'll give some answers as to what the actual hell happened in Kalos since PL:A showed what the shit happened to Spear Pillar wasn't because of some over time erosion but one, probably both Dialga and Palkia got called out of their respective areas and changed into those.. forms.

EXTREMELY TOUGH QUESTION. off the top of my head the ones that come to mind are like... ultra necrozma's theme. or colress' theme. but there's so many bangers in pokémon it's hard to pick just one i find the most, uh, banginest.

a more... concrete? answer might be that the lumiose city theme has been stuck in my brain a loooong time. it's the theme that randomly pops into my head the most, for sure.

Thought I would attempt my own version of the Arceus symbol meaning. There's a deeper explanation below and feel free to ask any questions

The centre is Arceus with the Origin Forms for Dialga, Palkia and Giratina. Lore wise the strongest forms of those three and the original forms of them before being weakened later on.

The next ring has Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza, in charge of land, sea and sky. Groudon and Kyogre use their primal forms as again, they're considered the original forms, Rayquaza uses the mega design more to match them than any particular lore reason as lore states Rayquaza doesn't mega evolve until humanity has been around for a good long while.

Then there's the lake trio, Azelf, Mespirit and Uxie. With Knowledge, Emotion and Willpower

Then there's Ho-oh, Lugia and Regigigas, each with three guardian Pokémon. The birds for Lugia, Beasts for Ho-oh and Golems for Regigigas (I imagine Regidrago and Regieleki as kinda…failed golems that were sealed away)

The circle before has Pokémon deemed guardians, sometimes assisting the respective Titan. Tornadus, Thunderus and Landorus for Rayquaza, Xerneas, Yveltal and Zygarde for Groudon and Latias, Latios and the original Unova dragon for Kyogre.

Lastly the other features mythicals, typically deemed to maintain a smaller aspect. Mew for life, Celebi for time flow, Jirachi for wishes, Shaymin for nature, Cresselia for Dreams and Darkrai for nightmares.

Also included in that but slightly above would be Ho-oh, Lugia and Regigigas. Ho-oh maintains the winds, Lugia the Ocean currents and Regigigas the continental drift

In the same vein as Pokémon GO Fest and Pokémon GO Tour, this type of new event is coming in November.

"Mighty" spawns being harder to catch, and a new type of PokeBall, Safari Balls, will be available. These "mighty" Pokemon are more likely to have high IVs, are more likely to be XL or XXL, and their Encounters will be marked "!!!" instead of CP.

Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia will appear in raids during this event. All Trainers will have a chance to encounter these Pokémon with their signature attacks: Roar of Time and Spacial Rend!

Ticket-holding Trainers will get to choose whether to focus on Electric- or Poison-type Pokémon and the main featured Pokemon is Toxtricity

the artificial heroes story taking place hundreds and hundreds of years into the future. past when the pmd2 future took place...pmd2 celebi being there to help too

her telling them the history of humans in the pmd world at some point....

and vaguely how she "had partners who are no longer by my side but...theyll always be with me. and they wouldnt want me to let the future go down like this" and her being there to help hoopa

hoopa trying to save space once they started noticing it messing up in places...palkia telling them they have to fix it bc its taking all of him to keep everything and himself in check. and if space goes down completely they both do. it wont just be a fight w unbound hoopa but w a primal palkia if things really start messing up...

Have some sketches of Eliana and company inspired by this post by @sincerely-sofie (from my ask lol)!

The top half would technically be canon in my fanon since Eliana totes Treecko (pre-Grovyle) around due to him being a bit frail and timid. I also headcanon (like Sofie) that Treeckos right on the backs of the parents (similar to alligators/crocodiles I believe), so he feels safer when he’s close to her. Oftentimes she’ll wear the hoodie backwards at night so she can hold him while he sleeps and she keeps watch. She’s supposed to wake him for his turn but she almost never does unless she’s absolutely running on fumes.

The bottom half is somewhat of an AU where she finds a young, terrified Duskull instead. Not much thought went into this one, I just liked the idea of baby Dusknoir liking to nap and cuddle a lot, based on that post. (Perhaps Sceptile would be Primal Palkia’s main henchman after Cresselia drove him mad? Idk)

Concept I thought of recently and I really like: the relic fragment as a protective ward.

Originating from the hidden land (somewhere we've seen contains lots of paintings and imagery of a lot of different legendaries) and having some kind of canon magical properties to it (it chooses who it deems worthy and seems to present itself to them as seen with Partner), I think it'd be neat if it also had ways of protecting its chosen bearer, to guarantee them the best possible chance of achieving their mission.

Therefore: the relic fragment working as a protective charm against the powers of most legendaries.

This could work as a good excuse for why Uxie's Groudon illusion is so easy to beat despite being hyped up, and why it seems to fizzle out so quickly on defeat.

More importantly though, it could be used as a fun justification for why Darkrai doesn't intervene until the post-game (and potentially how Palkia was able to break in so easily around the same time) - the partner has given up the relic fragment by this point, with it taking its place in the rainbow stoneship. Hero's proximity to the partner (and therefore the relic fragment) meant Darkrai couldn't do anything before now unless he wanted to show his face and act directly - which he's very averse to doing.

It doesn't work against primal dialga tracking them for one of two reasons - either its power is useless in the future because the hidden land is in ruins, or because the protection isn't designed to protect from Dialga. After all, what happens if the owner of the fragment goes rogue? Dialga needs a way to put a stop to that, of course.

my silly crack theory for Legends Z-A is that Xerneas and Yveltal will get Primal forms. my silly reasoning is this: Primal Reversion is associated with the beginning and the end of life on earth. the origin of life is associated with Kyogre because it occurred in the ocean — the "Primordial Sea". for Groudon, "Desolate Land" is actually an outlier among localizations, which mostly translate more literally as "Land of the End" (this includes the original Japanese).

Primal Reversion is a way that Legendary Pokemon become (or return to) manifestations of nature at the chaotic beginnings or apocalyptic ends of life — so it only makes sense that Xerneas and Yveltal could've had more powerful forms under those conditions, too. also: the title of the game is Legends Z-A, not just Legends Zygarde. they chose to use the last and first letter of the Latin alphabet — just like Greek has Omega and Alpha.

also x2: Dialga and Palkia got new forms in Legends Arceus, borrowing from Giratina's Origin Forme gimmick. Zygarde's Complete Forme gimmick isn't really appropriate for Xerneas and Yveltal, with the XY duo not being made of cells or anything, so if they get new forms, it should be either a totally new gimmick, OR a gimmick from their debut generation. this could absolutely mean Megas, but just personally I think Primals would be cooler for these legendaries in particular.

also x3: last but not least, Xerneas and Yveltal kind of have this "sleep in a tree/cocoon for 1000 years" thing going on that wouldn't line up with the timeline of PLZA, because those games are going to be set way less than 1000 years before Xerneas and Yveltal awaken in modern times. I don't fully know where I'm going here, but basically, it makes sense why GameFreak might want to drop in some new additions to the lore to help explain the discrepancy — idk, maybe either Zygarde or some happening in Lumiose awakened Xerneas and Yveltal off-schedule by allowing them to Primal Revert.
