This chapter is so tantalizingly close to being finished!!!!!! Im right at the end! But I've suddenly hit such a wall with not wanting to work on it 😭 (crazy what happens when you only work on one thing nonstop 24/7 for like 4 weeks straight)
I'm going to take a day to work on other stuff as a refresher, and then get right back into it and finish this god forsaken chapter!!! It'll be done by Sunday!!
#the finish line is right there .... its right there#this ch has gone through an UNBELIEVABLE amount of changes lol#future ones should be faster since now i kinda know what im doing#at least better than i did before#im fashionably late with the deadlibe id set for myself. as usual#oh well#motley#whew#preview panel for fun :]#99% of the time ive spent working on this has been just making the sketch and outline lol. the sketch took soooo long#and then i knocked out like half of the lineart in a day??? so progress has been weird

I'm genuinely so excited for gencon, it made me do my homework early and I'm gonna do my exam today. So that it won't risk getting in the way of gencon.
Things I'm going to do that I'm most excited about:
Combat Classes for: sword, knife, longsword, saber, kendo, And rogue stage fighting
Introduction to dice making class
Panel on Eberron With Keith Baker AND it'll give out a commemorative d20 as part of it
Panel with critical role artists (not the players themselves, but people who work on the comics and such)
TAZ book launch event for the latest comic book WITH copies of said comic book handed out as part of it
McElroy TTRPG liveplay panel
Signing & selfie with the McElroys (Minus Justin lol)
And those are just the panels!!! Not even all of them. I also have panels for making a hollow book box, making a dice set bracelet, and a panel on gamemaster & writing (specifically bridging between being a gamemaster and being a writer, which is great for me, the writer who wants to gm at some point)
There's also going to be the merch room (so many DIIIIIICE) and assorted other open things. The biggest tabletop gaming convention in North America!!!!!!! I'm PUMPED!!!!!!!!!
#speculation nation#im still a little sad the critical role players wont be here this year. theyve attended in the past.#but that's ok!! still plenty of other things to do. and im excited about meeting the mcelroys in person hfkshfkd#actually a little nervous about that one. i havent been as interactive with their stuff in recent years#but im still an old TAZ fan and have enjoyed their stuff since 2016. that's so long ago!!!! i'm gonna die!!!!!#hfkshfkd my thursday is the most busy. 7 panels that day alone. out of a total of 15 across 4 days.#aka i have Almost half of all my panels just in one day. i will be a busy bee. thats why im gonna pack food lol.#im just vibrating. my first gencon!!! it's so exciting!!!#and im excited about getting personal experience with combat forms for enriching my action writing#and im excited about getting a preview for dice making bc that's smth ive wanted to get into for years now!!!!#and im also just thinking about how many Fucking dice there will be. my personal wonderland.#my sister mentioned that there will be a section for miniatures Specifically the maps that will be used in games later#which will be so fun to look at. i love looking at cool miniature models.#im going to be kind of obnoxious maybe hfkshfkd so im sorry if ppl dont care about my con happenings.#but i havent been to a convention since 2019 and i am EXCITED!!! Calling all wild witches and handsome devils: it's time to rock 'n roll.
Hey, you, wake up a new CC set just dropped! This time @mellosakicc joined me and threw in some very wicked cool goodies for you. Everything is Base Game Compatible and optimized for potato computers. Go and build your slightly haunted Memphis studio apartments.
But only after you downloaded our small tribute here: MERGED ZIP
Update: This set is making it into TS2! Well, kinda? I hope so. I'll update this if more gets converted. (pls, someone, I also don't have the know-how!)
@grilledcheese-aspiration did a stellar job porting the really pretty clutter over [Link] I love how the Belladonna looks nicer in the older game
Mid-Century's elegance meets Gothic Kitsch in Rituals, a 50 asset large set full of stuff for your living, dining and bedrooms. Every object was lovingly (help me) hand painted by yours truly (pain... the pain...!) and I hope you have as much fun playing with it as I had making it!
Read more and get a preview below the cut
As usual, here's the catalogue of the entire thing
And an unedited in-game screenshot
Highlights of this set include:
a very modular set of curtains
3D wall paneling
a vanity table
a canopy bed
vintage electronics
lots of references for you to find
buy and build items ( these walls and floors are included, yes)
I playtest to my absolute limit, but I'm a one-man-team so if you end up finding bugs I missed, please send me an ask or comment on this post. That way it gets fixed asap.

Maro’s Foundations Teaser
Before previews for Foundations officially begin, I thought it would be fun to do another of my Duelist-style teasers where I give tiny hints of things to come. Note that I’m only giving you partial information.
First up, here are some things you can expect:
• The five iconic creatures each show up on multiple cards
• Two monocolor reprints, each of a different color, that together win you the game.
• Some creature tokens in this set: 1/1 white Rabbit, 2/1 blue Ninja, 3/3 Green Raccoon, 4/4 red Dragon, and a copy that’s a Nightmare
• A character from one of our most popular online Magic stories returns
• An 8/12 creature with ward 4
• A creature with seven evergreen keywords
• A Magic Invitational winner’s card gets reprinted (and no, not the most powerful one)
• Counters in the set: +1/+1, bait, fellowship, incubation, loyalty, revival, soul, stash, and stun
• A card that’s in the top 10 cards I sign gets reprinted
• More deciduous mechanics get used in this set than any previous (non-Time Spiral block) premier set
Next, here are some rules text that will be showing up on cards:
• “This spell costs {1} less to cast for each Cat you control.”
• “You can’t lose the game and your opponents can’t win the game.”
• “target instant or sorcery card in your graveyard gains flashback until end of turn.”
• “Creatures you control get +10/+10”
• “A deck can have any number of cards named”
• “Then exile all other Nightmare tokens you control.”
• “Whenever you draw your second card each turn, create a token that’s a copy of this creature.”
• “Double the number of each kind of counter”
• “You may pay {B} rather than pay this spell’s mana cost if there are thirteen or more creatures on the battlefield.”
• “Draw a card for each different mana value among nonland permanents you control.”
Here are some creature type lines from the set:
• Creature – Rabbit Noble
• Creature – Demon Warlock
• Creature – Shark Pirate
• Creature – Eldrazi
• Creature – Hyena Rogue
• Creature – Spider Spirit
• Creature – Elemental Hydra
• Creature – Bear Demon
• Artifact Creature – Phyrexian Construct
• Legendary Creature – Zombie Warlock
Finally, here are some names in the set:
• Boltwave
• Electroduplicate
• Fishing Pole
• Goblin Negotiation
• Hare Apparent
• Homunculus Horde
• Midnight Snack
• Perforating Artist
• Refute
• Stab
The Foundations debut will be live at MagicCon Vegas on October 25th at 2:30 PM Pacific, right after our “The Foundations of Magic’s Next Era” panel, where you'll get a sneak peek at the 2025 sets. You can follow along on social media or watch the full VOD of the debut panel on our official YouTube channel after it airs.

Nick Asking Charlie Out: Intention
The differences between the show and the comic in the scene where Nick asks Charlie to come to Harry's party are striking and, I think, are Alice's brilliant way of adding intention into this evolving relationship in a way it hadn't existed before.
In the comic, we get a panel that shows the boys' notebooks and their hands, but not their faces, as Nick says "Are you going to Harry Greene's party on Saturday?" Though Nick is obviously deeply interested in Charlie's answer, this is still a passive inquiry; the stakes are low when the question is framed this way.
In the show, on the other hand, we first get this moment of intense, silent struggle while Nick works up the nerve to ask a real question, a question that he knows is weighty. There's a second where he checks in with himself--you can see it in his eyes (Kit is brilliant here)--where he's asking himself if he's actually going to do this.
And, yes, he decides, he is. This is easily the most nervous we've ever heard Nick to this point. The words rush out, squeezed together and slightly high-pitched: "Do you want to go to Harry's party?" This in and of itself is still not a particularly loaded question; it's the fact that Nick managed to ask it at all that lends it consequence. He thought hard about it. He knew what he really meant when he asked it. He's still incredibly, intensely confused, but he also knows he's taking a concrete step toward exploring a romantic relationship with Charlie, even if he's still completely unsure of what that really means for his own identity journey.
And Nick wants Charlie to have a clear understanding of what he's really saying, too (as is Nick's way). So then comes the bit that really scares him, but about which he's undeniably most hopeful. This is where this scene deviates most noticeably from the comics, in which Nick never specifies that he wants Charlie to go to the party with him. I love that Alice made this change, because we get to see Nick, for the first time, making an intentional decision not only to act on his attraction to Charlie (in a seemingly small but for him really quite monumental way), but also, importantly, his intention to make Charlie aware, on some level, of his changing feelings.
In the comics we get Charlie's reluctance, and then Nick's admission that he doesn't want to hang out with his own friends. Then "I have you now, so . . . so will you come?" Again, Nick is asking Charlie to attend the party, and clearly wants him to say he will, so there is some kind of intention behind his ask, but he frames it safely in the context of wanting someone there to hang out with whose company he actually enjoys.
In the show, Nick is very purposeful and decisive in the way he responds to Charlie's reluctance. "I want you to be there." This is not passively allowing closeness to happen under the guise of friendship. Yes, Nick carefully walks the line between a platonic ask and a romantic one by not actually calling it a date, but this is still a critical point for him. This is intention, purposefulness, acting toward a specific, desired outcome.
I love the panel in the comics that appears after Charlie says he'll go to the party, that it will be fun if Nick is there. It's adorable, and Nick is clearly flustered and excited that Charlie changed his mind about the party based on Nick's desire for his company.
But in the show we get This Face. ⬇️ The I can't believe I just did that face, immediately followed by the thank god he said yes face (along with a tiny little sigh of relief that he managed to say what he wanted to say). This whole interaction is basically a preview of the rest of their relationship. Nick constantly acting in a very considered, purposeful way, pushing himself and surprising himself . . . in part because Charlie promises to be there, is happy to be there . . . and Nick not believing his luck.
[Side note: Charlie's face says a lot here too. It says "I think, maybe, that might have been an actual ask out!" Then it says "But maybe not, don't get too excited." Because despite Nick's intention, Charlie's past experiences and pain--not to mention everyone around him--have been telling him there's no way Nick could mean his question in the way Charlie wants to interpret it. Charlie's uncertainty even after this interaction makes Nick's next really purposeful, intentional, purely internally motivated move--taking Charlie's hand after their first kiss--that much more important.]

After reading the Batman and Robin: Year One preview, there's a few things I've gotta say about it.
But first, let's start with the good:
I think the art style is beautiful. Easy to look at, nice colors– And the designs are great! I wasn't expecting Dick without the all-white eyes, but he looks good regardless.
The story seems like it'll be fun. Though I am expecting some drama and possible new traumatic event for either Bruce or Dick.
Speaking of Bruce, I'm relieved to see he appears to be a decent parental figure so far. I don't expect him to be perfect, but it doesn't seem like he's going to mess up too badly.
There's not much else I have to say without getting into the few critiques I have, so let's get into that now.
Let's start with something another person has pointed out already, and that is the decision of making this event occur very early in the timeline.
Usually, capturing Zucco would take months of preparation and planning, but here it only takes them three weeks. And it doesn't say how long it'll take for Dick to start fighting alongside Bruce as Robin, but it better not be only a few weeks as well. That would definitely not be enough for everything Dick needs to learn before fighting crime.
The second thing is the writing.
While reading, I noticed that Alfred makes mention Dick's anger, his inner rage, how he's like Bruce after he lost his parents... Just to show you the next panel an energetic and cheeky kid. He's just slightly bored.
"...he smolders with rage, as you did. As does anyone orphaned by crime."
"But you do know anger, and you do know grief."
What about this kid screams to you "he's angry!"?
And later we see him as Robin, smiling and thrilled about being on his first night out with the Batman, ready to fight crime.
Once again I wonder, what about this kid makes Alfred say "Ah, yes, he's raging"?
Maybe they'll show more of this "anger" in the rest of the issue, but so far it just sounds like Bruce and Alfred are projecting and you can only take them as unreliable narrators.
Once the full issue is released, I hope to see any scene that proves Bruce and Alfred have a reason to think the way they do about Dick.
Overall, I'm excited for the comic, but I will keep my expectations low. I'm trusting the writers to know what they're doing, but better be prepared than be disappointed.

SYBOULETTE'S CANDY NURSERY CONVERTED TO THE SIMS 2 🍭
my previous conversions of syb's nursery sets can be found here: dreamy toddler 👶🏽| little dino 🐱🐉
hi everyone! @syboubou released their candy nursery set some time back in april to celebrate the release of ts4's growing together expansion pack, and i DESPERATELY wanted it for ts2! it's so, so adorable! so i did what i do, and almost two months later... here we are! i'm finally done converting the ENTIRE set! 🥳💃🏽
altogether there are 23 buy items, many of them functional, and 3 build assets: 2 wallpapers, 1 carpet floor. i'm immensely pleased with how it all turned out! it should pair well with my dreamy toddler conversions (linked above) and also my 4t2 conversion of madlen's kei baby care kit!
credits go to @syboubou for the amazing original set! it's simply perfection! 💝
there are two versions in the download below: a merged version, and an unmerged version. yes, the download is just THAT big. please pick only one! a collection file has also been prepared for convenience's sake.
DOWNLOAD: SFS | MF 🧁
keep reading below the cut to read what you need to read! and see what you need to see!
more previews
things to note
a readme.txt is also included in the download!
the changing table does not actually come with a bin. so unless you place the decorative trash bin next to it, your sims will be throwing their trash into the void.
the crib is unanimated. i tried my best but the mapping and the way the model was made simply would not accomodate any animations without looking even worse 😫
the dresser is just decor. i use the gussy up mod in my game so my sims rarely use wardrobes. plus, the original dresser's structure made it impossible to be animated 😅
the way that the playmat works in the previews above is actually as a rug. i made an invisible recolor of the sims 2 store playmat (included in the download) and layered it over the decorative one so that it's 'functional'! if you just want the playmat as a rug, you can delete this.
the toddler bed is cloned from @themediocresulk's toddler beds as pet beds so that it's less buggy and your toddlers can get in or out whenever you want them to! you may want to grab this mod so that they gain more motives.
items included
taken directly from that readme.txt.
buy mode:
Baby Shoes Box -> 318 polys, $49 Beehive Ceiling Lamp -> 900 polys, $99 Bookcase -> 489 polys, $249 Books -> 84 polys, $49 Cat Plushie -> 840 polys, $39 Changing Table -> 349 polys, $249 Cloud Rug -> 2 polys, $49 Crib -> 1788 polys, $399 Diapers Box -> 772 polys, $9 Dresser -> 76 polys, $699 Hanging Plant -> 506 polys, $19 High Chair -> 1048 polys, $249 Mirror -> 270 polys, $149 Ottoman -> 316 polys, $89 Playmat -> 1584 polys, $249 Potty -> 112 polys, $99 Rabbit Lamp -> 912 polys, $35 Rocking Egg Chair -> 1760 polys, $379 Shelves -> 168 polys, $89 Toddler Bed -> 1855 polys, $349 Toy Rattle -> 432 polys, $49 Trash Bin -> 222 polys, $39 Vanity Case -> 1436 polys, $29
build mode:
Floor Carpet -> 26 swatches, $1 Wallpaper Panelling Paint -> 56 swatches, $1 Wallpaper Panelling Pattern -> 32 swatches, $1
misc:
a recolor of the sims 2 store's baby dangle monster playmat is also included. if you want to use it, you'll need the original mesh from the store download.
phew, that was a LONG, but satisfying, post to write! i hope everyone enjoys these conversions as much as i do! i had a lot of fun making them 💝
have a lovely day simming everyone! don't be afraid to reach out to me if there's any issues with this download. though as always, keep in mind...
cheers ~ 🥂

🎶 stop the clocks, i'm killing time! i don't ever want this to end, and you say "that makes two of us"
⏯ NOW PLAYING: Stop the Clocks by Enter Shikari
for @mcyt-jukebox-bonanza, featuring Rubyco and VikingPilot from Twitch SMP!
ramblings under cut:
FINAL JUKEBOX!
i was talking to Viking about Enter Shikari (i'd gotten him to start listening to them via the PMV preview) and he mentioned this song in specific as one he's been listening to lately. and, like, i've mentioned before that Radiate is my favorite from this band, but Stop The Clocks was up there for a while. so... yeah! obviously i had to draw something.
this went through a LOT of revision. after my last jukebox i fell into an art slump and was struggling with ideas and what i felt capable of. i knew the main thing i wanted was to include TwitchCon SMP-- the entire thing is that they were only supposed to exist for three days. initially the middle panel was going to be another angle of the same scene, with Viking and Ruby looking out over the beet fields in the sunset, but i didn't feel like i'd have the time or energy for a detailed background.
after that idea got scrapped, i had the idea to lean into the contrast of where they started vs where they are now. this is the version i showed Viking:
..with the middle panel being a redraw of the first thing i drew for Twitch SMP, of Viking dangling Ruby over the cliff. when i started looping the song to start lining and coloring, though, it didn't really match the tone of the song so i scrapped it again, shuffled element positions, and returned to the first idea but with it being TSMP Viking and Ruby instead. still ended up being a bit of a redraw, but this time it's of the scene where Viking talks about his dreams and how they need to embrace whatever's happening to both of them.
and yet despite all of that, the parts i like best are the tiny panels of TCSMP Ruby and Viking. i like the rim lighting, i like the expressions, i like the palette i used for the background. it's just so nice. i wanted to capture a bittersweet fondness, because neither of them expected to continue past this. yknow?
while i'm here, i wanna talk a little bit about tcViking:
he has tViking's palette (hence his goggles being brown instead of black), and he has the scar next to his eye that i draw tViking with. the other scars he got after being lost in time, but i figured having some kind of identifying characteristic would help with Ruby seeing him as her Viking, and then that coming into doubt as she saw how different he was physically and mentally.
this was really fun to do <3 it feels poetic that my first and last pieces are tRuby-- TSMP got me through what otherwise would've been a rough start to the year, and Rubyco especially has been incredibly cool and making me feel more confident and comfortable with being very vocally active in fandom again :,)
back to work on the PMV!

Today I went to the Zenshuuchuu-ten (Total Concentration Exhibition) for the Swordsmith Village and Hashira Training arcs today!
This is basically a chance for Ufotable to be like, "remember that cool thing we did?" and for we the fans to be like, "yup, sure do, that's why we're here."
It's not quite as extensive as other KnY events I've been to, and it doesn't particularly provide any new information, but it's fun to see some glimpses of the process from animation cells to finished clips. There's always a handful of fun displays to interact with, scrolls of character designs, and nice panels to display screenshots, especially centered around character arcs and impactful moments.
This time it was roughly as follows:
1. A room with large screen shots of Muzan the Upper Moons that appear in time with lines from the show and twangs of a biwa
2. A small room with a small swordsmithing game that they hurry everyone through. You need to strike the sword with just the right amount of force to get a ball into the middle of three slots, which I did, so I got handed a little piece of paper which is my certification as a master. I mentioned this to a friend afterword and her response was "of course you did."
3. A room in two parts dedicated to Muichiro's arc in SSV, with a hazy curtain you pass through sort of like Muichiro gaining his memories, and a model of his sword backlit in turquoise
4. A room dedicated to Mitsuri's arc in SSV, including a model of her sword which curves all the way across the room, and a little Mitsuri whom you could challenge to arm wrestling. She beat me pretty easily.
5. A Genya room of screenshots, and models of both his short little sword and his gun. Forgot to mention that their lines were playing overheard in each room!
6. A Gyokko and Hantengu room. A Gyokko only appeared over a model of the vase if you took a photo with flash, and there was a little Hantengu figure to look for, and if you found it, they'd give you a piece of origami paper on your way out of the gallery (pretty much everybody found it, but it was tiny).
8. The dedicated to Nezuko's mastery was not in-your-face triumph, but instead had a TV screen playing the Nezuko tribute music video version of her song, with the lyrics as scattered across the grey walls as the stream-of-consciousness lyrics.
9. Right after that, the staff ushers you in to the Hashira meeting, as though you were late.
Next to the meeting taking place, there is a model of Tanjiro's new old sword.
8. After that is a room dedicated to Giyuu's back story. I liked the design of the hanging screenshots in this one. Although the overall image is "water" because of the blue, the water design with light cast on the floor, and water droplet sounds mixed in with Giyuu's lines, the half-and-half effect was perhaps not intentional, but it was there. When you turn back to look through this room, the hanging screenshots--memories of Sabito and Tsutako--are all black.
9. The rest is a room dedicated to the different stages of Hashira training, with 3-D displays like riceballs, paper airplanes, pancakes with honeycomb and a ribbon, a board with ropes and sword cut marks (yikes), scuffed wooden swords, and a boulder you could push on. Along the tops of these displays were some eyeballs scoping everything out...
10. After that they put you in a theater room with three wide screens and headphones. At the last Zenshuuchuuten they did a reedit of the Akaza and Rengoku fight across three screens, so I figured this would have has plunging into the Infinity Fortress. After a preview review of Hashira Training highlights and Muzan's walk, yup, sure enough things got explosive and they plunged us in via the big screen, including some extra disorientation by zooming really closely in on some moving shots, or having multiple things happen at once across the screens.
11. Then they funnel you into a place with a TV playing the announcement for the Infinity Castle movies. No new content or news.
12. After that, these things tend to have a bright and happy Kimetsu Academy room! You could take photos, but there was a chalkboard with the voice actors have let their signatures and messages for the fans. I appreciated how they seemed to reflect their characters in their comments and handwriting, to some extent (certainly not Matsuoka (Inosuke) or none of it would be legible, but Hayami (Shinobu) has very legible, handwriting, and Hanae (Tanjiro) has comments like "I hope you'll feel like GUWAAA and GAAAAA!"). You could not take photos of the signatures, but you could take a photo of Mitsuri's art and figment of her imagination who says disparaging things to her (despite how she wants her art to make the world happy?? Oh, the irony):
13. The gallery concludes with a hall eyecatch illustrations, and a hall of Ufotable staff art paying homage to their favorite characters and scenes. Always treat seeing things in Ufotable style, but with individual craft and taste!
14. After that, you buy things. This is where they get ya.
Kind of thankfully, it's late enough in the exhibition's run that they've already run out of a lot of the smaller items I was intrigued by, so I behaved myself. I got the t-shirts I was planning on (I love the simplicity of them so so much, and really had to resist getting the paper airplane one too), a Daki ribbon item leftover from the last exhibition (though what I really wanted was Daki shoelaces), and an official pamphlet of the event. My friend got a couple Osaka-only badges, but since she got doubles of Zenitsuup the Umeda Sky Building, she gave one to me.
I really love that "nanikore" ("what the...?") design. It's so simple, and if you don’t know KnY, you might think they're just silly little circus dudes. But people who know will be like, "!!!" and their day will be a little brighter for having seen it.
Gonna do a quick self-reblog now with some extra photos!

July 2024
By Kevin Eastman, Edgar Alan Poe, Jim Lawson, Tristan Jones, Gary Carlson, Chris Allan, Erik Burnham, Lloyd Goldfine, Ciro Nieli, Andy Suriano, Tom Waltz, Ronda Pattison , Tom Napolitano, Steve Lavigne, Paul Harmon, Frank Fosco, Adam Guzowski, Sarah Myer, Luis Antonio Delgado, Shawn Lee, Khary Randolph, Emilio Lopez, Michael Dialynas, Pablo Tunica, Freddie E. Williams II, David Petersen, Ken Mitchroney, Aaron Hazouri, Dan Duncan, Sophie Campbell, Jodi Nishijima, Stan Sakai, and Emi Fujii.
Come and enjoy stories that will remind you of the 40 years of turtle history.
SCORE: 10 *
* Assuming you are familiar with these iterations.
This is a strange read, and curiously, there are three or four highlights for me, and they are not exactly the ones you would imagine.
Spoilers after the break...
The first story by Kevin Eastman is in the Mirage section of the book but... well... I'll leave at that... I wouldn't call it the Mirage we knew.
There is a story by Lawson and Lavigne with the Rat King that... it's fun. But, you know... I wouldn't even try to fit it in canon... the amount of continuity physics you need to bend to place this story is not worth the time. Just enjoy as a new story by these two iconic Mirage artists.
This other story by Tristan H. Jones and Paul Harmon requires more analysis. I'll revisit it on my gang wars video and try to give it more context... but unfortunately... it's just too vague. All I can say for sure is that it happens in the future of that incomplete saga, but the narrator just takes too many artistic choices to be taken at face value.
Also... I believe this is the first official (frontal) appearance of Agent Bishop (unless I got the character wrong, but Jones already tried to introduce him in this saga). I think he is still holding on to it, and I really hope he gets to tell his story. I wouldn't mind a mini-series... just saying!
The Volume 3 story was... not for me. The dialogue alone felt tired.
The Archie adventure was short, eventful, and funny... and it looks amazing too!
In just four pages a new character was introduced and... a new love story was implied! And it's not just a gratuitous cameo... this is a funny sequence.
The Saturday Morning Adventures (the de facto 87 story) looks amazing as usual, but I didn't find the story that interesting. However, it started a theme that would run across most of the stories in this special after this one: Master Splinter.
The 2003 story is a... loose canon?
Hun is Slash, and Shredder is back... so make of that what you want. All I'm going to say is that this felt a lot like watching the beginning of a 2003 episode, with the narration setting the tone.
The 2012 story was one of the least interesting in the previews, but I have to say... it was probably one of the best. It brought back a villain and it technically serves as an excuse to continue the series?
But to me the best thing about the story is the art. I am surprised Ciro Nieli didn't do more comic book work for the Turtles all these years. In fact, if they somehow decided to continue the 2012 universe in 2D in this style... I'm all in. Well, who am I kidding... I would be in anyway... but this looks amazing.
Andy Suriano did probably the most interesting story in the book. Now, I am not sure if his style doesn't translate well to static panels or what the problem is with the comic format... but it doesn't matter... this small story brought in a lot of things that ended on the editing floor after the show's second season was reduced to a few more episodes. There was a rumor about a female turtle, and not only it is here in all its glory, but there is also a brother?
And come on... it's so Lou Jitsu to die with a cliffhanger.
There are two IDW stories. One is another Splinter story, but the other one is perhaps one of the best in this book.
The Ronda Pattison story takes place just before the Armageddon game, and it shows the five turtles in full sibling dynamic (even Jennika). It was refreshing to see these turtles having fun for a change.
There are no stories by the new team, but... well... that's just starting.

Another Inktober piece 😃
11 - Snack(s)
Kenabres, 4175 AR. Approximately one day before cultists attack the Defender's Heart.
(Best to click for better image quality, tumblr’s mangling the preview)
My KC, Dornik, distinctly remembers waking up in agony a few days ago and hearing Some Fucking Blond telling everyone to throw their mortally wounded body in an accommodating ditch, so now they're choosing violence~
Might be easier to read the panels individually on mobile, so I've included them along with some ramblings about characters and designs under the cut 😊.
Panels!
I love writing and drawing these characters so much aaaa, they're all DISASTERS and their designs are so fun. Everything about Wenduag's design is just chef's kiss I've never not had fun making art of her! Those eyes! Those adorable cheeks! Those damn spider leggies! She's so expressive and awful I love herrrrr.
Dornik and Daeran are both great for challenging myself. I'm not imagining Wenduag is tiny, Dornik's just a pretty strong orc who's nearly 7ft tall, and learning to capture that built-like-a-mountain vibe is so rewarding. (Because orc. More orc so good yesssss.) This picture is taken seconds before disaster (Dornik in all their 8 wis glory has yet to twig that Wenduag might take their hilarious joke as an endorsement) because what are beloved OCs for if not taking Ls?
With Daeran, one of my favourite things about his portrait is how vaguely unsettling it is, especially with his eyes, and I really want to capture that when I'm drawing him. His unhinged energy is so important to me 😍, and the idea of that rhythm of high energy-sudden stop (the first mask drops, revealing a second, equally beautifully crafted mask which is also but not entirely more true)-high energy dance is what inspired me to make this in the first place. That, and the escalating-curveballs dynamic you can have between him and your Commander 😍 just an absolute pair of menaces 😍.
And Cami's just always a delight to draw, she's trying hard (well. sometimes) to be so proper but underneath there is everything So Wrong With Her (Cami romancers if you're reading this you're strong and fearless and have all my support). There's such a threatening aura to play with and the contrast between her self and the facade she's trying to maintain is marvelous enrichment for the art brain.
